At first I thought the Toymaker’s “too many teeth” reveal was meant to be an uncanny valley effect; a personification of something that isn’t human pretending to be human. Like an AI image that doesn’t wholly complete its replica of a person, despite its efforts. And maybe that truly is what it’s meant to be for us.

But then I remembered that The Master became one of these teeth by LOSING A GAME to the Toymaker. This carries the implication that the Toymaker may have Too Many Teeth because his mouth is full of TROPHIES OF HIS DEFEATED ENEMIES.

I know it’s played as a bit at first, but Chip struggling to wield Destiny’s Blade in Gillion’s absence is so important, because that’s just it, isn’t it. The weight of his destiny is something so great, so heavy of a burden, but there hasn’t really been insight into that until recently, and now both Chip and Jay are getting a look into just how hard it is to carry such a destiny. To raise the sword that Gillion does seemingly with ease.

But despite its weight, Chip keeps it close. He uses it when he’s out of ideas, when he needs options. He holds it tight to summon water, so Pretzel will have something in her bowl. He lifts it up to summon a shield when he needs protecting from a thousand different blades that would otherwise kill him. And there’s something too about how it’s Gillian’s blade, left behind without it’s wielder, protecting his friends despite his absence. How the manifestation of this magic is an imitation of Gillian’s - the shield protecting Chip as a swirling sphere of water, the shape water spell a Gillion classic of course. Even when he’s gone, his influence, what he’s left behind in both possessions and memory, are protecting Jay and Chip.

Maybe there’s something there about how whatever destiny Gillion has felt the weight of, it will always include protecting his friends - his family. Or about how their destinies are now forever intertwined, because Chip is using this Destiny’s Blade to find Gillion and it’s now his burden to bear. And it’s hard, and it hurts, and he feels the weight of his own actions now more than ever - but Jay promises he won’t bear it alone. And even while he’s lost, and unable to protect himself - Gillion still has a hand in protecting them.

thinking about how scar and grian were forced together in double life when they were at their worst coming out of last life. they were soul bound and forced onto the same team when it was obvious wounds were still fresh.

and then they were forced apart in secret life when they finally felt secure enough to team again of their own volition. the nature of scar’s task kept him from saying yes to allying with grian, and now grian is part of the roomies.

i desperately want a movie of just josh hutcherson fluff for each of his characters.

hell yeah give me 3 hours of mike schmidt going grocery shopping and filing his taxes. him driving to work or tucking abby in for bed? i’m watching it on repeat

absolutely i’ll take a painfully long scene of derek danforth’s morning routine. i want to see what products he uses and how he does his hair. does he finger coil? does he leave the shower with it dripping wet and it just dries like that? what kind of music would he listen to? i need to know

what else does josh futterman do besides work, play video games, and watch sci-fi movies? does he read? does he cook? i want to see his little mannerisms. i know that man absolutely talks to himself every damn time he’s alone.
