Okay, unpopular opinion, but I kind of like "I'd Give Anything" as a song. It's a very pretty sounding song.

More popular opinion, it definitely should not have been placed where it was.

I mean, girl, you just sang a rousing song about fighting and winning the victory, and now you're just platonic-pining over your ex-bestie who literally just destroyed your home, and who you're currently trying to defeat. Very, very bad sense of timing.

So you know what I think?

I think it should have been in "Beginnings".

It isn't right in the middle of a battle, or in the middle of a direct effort to stop her. It fits with the theme, of reliving everything they knew. And it would be more emotionally impactful for the audience, hearing that right after seeing the beginning of their friendship.

So I'm leaving work and something darts in front of me, maybe 10ft away, too fast for me to see what it is. Peek around the tree blocking my path and I see this

Just like... a whole ass hawk. Dude's gotta be about 1.5ft tall. Massive fucking bird. And it's just staring me straight in my soul like this, even as I try to move ahead. It didn't budge. And there's only this path back to my car unless I want to walk on a busy highway. So I have the option of Death By Raptor or Death By Truck.

So I walk in the poison ivy filled patch off the sidewalk. Guy still isn't moving. Still staring me directly in the eyes. And I do this thing when animals are behaving strangely where I'll talk to them, so I'm just like, "Hey, man. I don't know you. You don't know me. This feels really threatening. I'm just trying to get to my car, dude. Can I get some space please? You're a big fucking bird. I see those claws. You could kill me right now, but I'd appreciate if you didn't, ok?"

It didn't move until I was about 2ft away. Again: I'm as far from it as I can be without walking into the street. It clearly wasn't going to budge. I walk past, thing flies up (silent, btw. Scary) and lands on a brick wall a little further ahead

Anyway. Weird guy. Nearly shit my pants when I noticed a bird big enough to carry off a fully grown cat was just... there, staring me in the face, unwilling to move away from me, a human, something it should see as a threat. I watched behind me the whole rest of the way to my car, just in case this bird decided to help me shed this mortal coil. 10/10 experience. Super cool guy.

What are all the ways "I'd Give Anything" is the worst?

It literally stops the tense action dead in its tracks so that Rapunzel can sing a sad, slow song, thus changing the mood of the moment. I mean, Rapunzel was walking down the hall to do her face off, and it's just. Stops. It's jarring and takes you out of the moment for a song that's not even that good.

The visuals of the video paint Rapunzel as completely selfish, only wishing Cassandra was still her handmaiden.

The visuals also included Cassandra destroying Rapunzel's art (tearing Eugene out of the picture she painted) and Rapunzel being tolerant of it???

I've always had an issue with how Rapunzel is willing to bend over backwards to save Cassandra, even though Cassandra repeatedly attempts to kill her and her loved ones, and this song is about exactly that.

And now, I don't want to think about this song that I won't listen to anymore.

Okay so there's this idea for a fic I've been thinking of.

The jl are combating something that can only be touched with magic, jl dark is unresponsive (they got stuck in another dimension again), and cap - their only other magic user - is too injured.

But when they start stressing cap just slams a sheaf of papers of the table like 'pick between yourselves what powers you want, it's one each. Ig I'll sponsor you for today'.

Everyone: what?

Cap, spreading the papers to show each has a letter... Spelling out a magic word?: I'm serious. Do you want a cool new power? Consequence free? For as long as you need?

Batman:... Are you saying... You can... Give out powers?

Cap: my powers, yes. Flash, put Mercury back. That's pointless.

It'd be a great chance to have him explain his powers as a sort of reveal, including why he doesn't do it (it divides his power equally and thus severely weakens him). Also it would be very funny, I think, to see the jl in colour coded marvel suits being basically patroned by Billy. Batman has a blindingly white cowl. Flash has a cape. There's so much 'wait this chill childlike guy from some random city is actually insanely powerful' potential.
