High Life

Prologue

18 players spawned around a fountain. Some new faces, some old but everyone has no clue on what's in store for this new series. An avian with parrot wings steps forward with a smirk. "Welcome to High Life. Unlike before, this season is in a city. There are 18 penthouses, one for each of you. You will be randomly assigned a character backstory and a motive to kill. No one is allowed to know your motive, but you must use your backstory to craft a character. I would also like to welcome Doc to the Life Series" The goat, cyborg, creeper hybrid waves. "I have heard about this and have asked Grian to join for this season. I wanted to join Secret Life, but I was busy on Hermitcraft, so I couldn't join you all"

"Now this time, there is no 3-heart rule" Loud complaints can be heard as Grian raises his hand for silence. "This time is just one. One life. One chance to win. There is also the removed heal feature like Secret Life. You lose a heart, but it'll be reset at the end of each session. But there are some added stuff too. The building behind me is known as " The Tower" and it'll open during the final hour of each week where everyone can join. If you do not kill during the fourth and fifth week, you will die instead. There are not only custom outfits for everyone, but as well as some new weapons" The avian pulls out a pistol as murmers of excitement begin to grow. "Yes. We've added guns to this season as it'll fit with the theme. Now, everyone scatter, find a penthouse and await your backstory. Good luck!" Everyone runs off in different directions, looking out for a building with a penthouse they can claim.

I hope you like this so far! The original idea behind this is by @pokewatcher20 over on @bad-traffic-smp-ideas and I was instantly hooked. The next few will be on the different allies and backstories. Sessions are weeks in this fic.

tubbo-centric, spiderman au, 5+1 - hfkshend tubbo as the guy in the chair has never been better than in this fic, huge recommend to fellow tubbo enjoyers (also it's a series, with other works featuring other people in sbi!) (edit: I REMEMBER THIS FIC SO SO OFTEN IT'S SO GOOD LITERALLY ONE OF THE BEST SUPERHERO AU TUBBOS and also the other characters are done pretty fucking well)

superpowers au, villain tubbo, hero sbi and ranboo, dadschlatt (but not in a /pos way) - yea okay this wasn't too bad i quite liked it, made me feel things. heavy on the beeduo more than other sbi+tubbo relationships but it's done in a balanced way i'd say. hug propaganda /pos (edit: this feels like an unjust finish bc imo i don't really love this as much as i must have when i put it on this list, so i'll give you guys one extra!)

Okay, Hi! This is a QSMP roleplay blog, just here to have fun! This is not an updates account. I repeat, this is not an updates account. I was gonna leave this little ramble in the tags but it seemed interesting so I'll post what I was gonna say there here instead- optional under the cut it's just me ranting about timeline names and also some details about my designs I like

Clay not understanding the timeline part 8:

I don't actually know what this era is like canonically called so i just call it post-jailbreak until it gets an official name (i mean it probably is called that now i think about it but can never be sure)- I was gonna name the eras differently for the God characters but it would've gotten a little confusing for myself and since there's so few of them. Like XD's current era that aligns with this design would be called the Maze Era.

Basically god eras are the exact same as mortal eras just with different names as they name it after different points in their own coinciding history. So gods name their eras after the tales episode as it's their history (to a stretch) whilst mortals do it after their own history (the events of the SMP)

Details that i enjoy:

there is also a neat little detail I enjoy a lot about the two designs

because it's canon that Dream was the first human XD ever saw when he came down to the SMP, he copied his looks. Since Dream, in my designs, looked a lot different when he was younger than to what the current era in lore is now, XD still remains to have more of the looks of younger Dream than older - hence the different coloured hair and less scar features. The only reason why the hair has grown, aside other things, is because taking the form of a mortal still makes mortal things happen to the person and XD is too much up their own ass to learn about humans to understand it so he just accepts it

purple pandas - mcc 21

pov watched: punz

what to watch for: this team overall has amazing comms! the team synergy was really enjoyable to experience right from the start and despite not having a particular specialty in the type of games, they put up a solid performance and had an amazing set of comebacks towards the end of the tournament, with their comms and movement in parkour tag taking them all the way up to 5th team overall in the last moment. genuinely i think this team has some of the cleanest parkour tag comms, and their comms in other games such as sky battle, survival games, and battle box are nothing to scoff at.

general thoughts: considering punz had a ton of technical difficulties throughout the event, including his entire pc bluescreening right before grid runners started, this team was surprisingly solid! started off a bit shaky but didn't let the underperformance get to them and kept morale high going into final games. even with the frustration of sands of time they were able to clutch up for a fantastic final parkour tag performance! when they weren't focused on being Gamers they were flirting a lot . at the very least they were very complimentary to one another. very "homie" vibes if you know what i mean. also oh my god they got so excited about finding the dogs in the breaks between games i cannot stress how fun that was

more detailed commentary under the cut!

survival games: considering this team isn't a super strong pvp team, they had a very solid performance in survival games! good comms meant they were able to stay alive a while, and while they got a bit sandwiched towards the end and weren't able to really fight as a team, they went out swinging and managed to cling to a 5th place. overall a solid performance, with punz acting as a leader/commander!

hole in the wall: i won't lie to you dear reader this one was Rough. the new map and walls meant that everyone was thrown off a bit, and since this game is a bit more individually focused on movement it definitely wasn't this team's strong suit. they did, in fact, come in dead last

grid runners: yeah punz's pc just . completely bluescreened right before this event started. he didn't manage to get his stream up in time so i watched scott's pov here! their comms were pretty clean, and i think it just came down to a matter of familiarity with the rooms. their communications were a bit shaky, which can probably be attributed to the technical difficulties right before the game started, but overall did pretty well and managed to complete the course sixth after being pretty much dead last the whole way through, putting them in 8th for this game! considering this game is also punz's nemesis i think they did pretty well overall, though i don't doubt that there was a world where they did a lot better.

rocket spleef: this one was a bit unfortunate in that punz had technical difficulties again in round one and lagged really early on into the round causing him to die :sob: once again an individual movement game and one that ponk and sam wouldn't be as familiar with since it was taken out to rework before they really got a chance to get comfortable in the older iteration so not this team's strong suit at all! overall they did pretty solidly despite it not being one of their better games and considering scott's probably the only player on that team with a lot of elytra experience. shoutout to the dream smp for no end raids

sky battle: WOW i have so many thoughts about the new map. it's fuckin huge for real. i'll save that for a diff post tho <3 i think this team's main problem was just figuring out how to use the new map + meta to their advantage and they never really figured it out before the final round. they still had good comms they just didn't really have a good plan in any of the rounds and that's where things fell apart

battle box: wow i also have so many thoughts about this the remix feature is going to be so fun in the future. once this team hit their groove they were pretty good! i think the two capture points and the trident pvp really screwed with everyone but once they were able to figure out some strategies they could snag a couple wins here and there.

sands of time: this was a stressful sands i'll be honest. like yes they got two vaults but also they were Constantly low on sand and both ponk AND punz fell in lava. i think punz died of the lava and ponk died of being low hp after escaping the lava but either way this one was Rough. nevermind that they lost an entire vault's worth of coins after ponk died... scott was a very good sandkeeper though! there was just very little sand and so much stress....

parkour tag: now normally i'm pretty lukewarm about parkour tag but i think this team singlehandedly convinced me to enjoy it. punz is an incredible hunter and while i didn't watch ponk's pov, they certainly were as well. sam had absolutely incredible runner comms - i think genuinely they were some of the best comms i've ever seen in that game. they did SUPER well here especially coming off the back of that disappointing sands performance and this game was definitely a huge factor in them jumping up to 5th at the end!

All recs are complete, over 1k words, and around/under 5k hits. I'll provide rating, archive warnings, main character groupings, and approximate word count. In which Techno loses himself while trapped in pandora's vault. This fic gets pretty intense so pay close attention to the author warnings. There's a lot of pain in the first half, with both physical and emotional whump, but it all serves to highlight the comfort and hopefulness of the conclusion. Excellent whump read if you're into that genre.

Dual Blades by Teahound

Short and sweet character study of Techno and Philza. This one was written pre-doomsday last winter, relatively early in the dream smp's roleplay timeline, so it has flavors from that era of the fandom. Features first meetings, smp earth setting, and a father-son-esque emerald duo relationship if that's your thing. Very pretty writing style as well.

An exploration of Techno's vulnerability post-execution, and the way he chooses to handle it. Really good analysis of how and why Techno cultivates such an untouchable reputation. Be aware that there is gore in this (think that one scene in sadist's hoghunt animation). Intriguing hints of backstory + some lovely moments with Ranboo too.

Pure techno and phil queerplatonic domestic fluff. Like seriously, this is literally just 1308 words of concentrated platonic physical intimacy. Techno has the same energy as a massive fluffy dog that thinks it can fit on your lap. This fic will make you want to take a nap in the grass on a sunny afternoon with a loved one.

Technoblade's Tips on Scamming the Government by DOC_Holliday

Space AU with human Techno. "Humans are space orcs" is one of my favorite tropes, since it has so much potential for angst and humor and banger worldbuilding, and this one has a lot of fun playing with all those opportunities. Unpopular Opinion Flame Meme

When I was a dumb teen (and very new to the also then very new world of the internet), I absolutely didn't understand self-inserts; it was such a mary sue/gary stue sort of thing to me back then.

This mindset luckily changed when I rolled into my twenties and also got to learn more about how fandoms and whatnot work. As said, the internet was so new and a rarity in households then, my world was tiny during my teen years; I was very uninformed. While I personally don't feel any deep/real attraction to fictional characters, as in wishing they were real so I could date/marry them, I can form an understanding towards the people who do.

I won't lie though... People who *heavily* (romantically/sexually/emotionally) rely on a fictional character to be able to function in the real world do make me a little uncomfortable but I won't chastise them for it. Stuff's complicated, life can suck hard for a lot of us, and you don't really control who or what you like on such levels. ~~~

Uff, touchy subject right there. I'm all for the 'ship and let ship' vibe of pro-shippers, I am, it's what pro-shipping means and stands for. But I personally draw lines when minors get involved with an adult in a ship, fictional or not. Those are the type of ships I can't ever support. It doesn't feel right. But that's me, this is a personal issue and gripe.

That said, I am not going to scream at people who do ship that sorta stuff with the whole 'DO NOT INTERACT' entitled bullshit some people pull in places. You aren't responsible for what *I* view online; I am. It's my own responsibility. And the same goes for everyone else; while I tag a lot already, I am NOT responsible for what you view online. You have to mediate that yourself, always. For instance, I don't go through EVERY account that follows me, leaves a like/favorite or leaves a comment to *check* if they interact with the things I don't approve of. That's a stupid thing to do, that's like opening up your own wounds and willingly pour salt into them. If I do check someone's account (because their avatar looks cute or the previewed art on their account looks nice) and I find stuff on there I don't approve of, I back out and leave it at that. If what I see is really bad, I might mute.

I do understand that some people feel the need to mention DNIs as a warning, for their own well-being. I very often have an understanding for it too; I give all the thumbs-ups to people that have DNIs but don't publicly go on a rampage or throw a public tantrum when someone does break their set DNIs. It's those who do and whine about it ALL THE DAMN TIME and keep aggresively shoving the DNIs in people's faces that get on my nerves (aka, the entitled ones). PS: Not everyone who leaves a Like on your art also checks your profile or carrd; there's a high chance they saw the art pass by on their feed, left a Like and then carried on with living/browsing. Not everyone is purposedly out to get you or make you feel miserable.

Whew, went on a rant there. Tl;dr version: Ship and let ship. Do allow me to not enjoy/support certain ships and I'll gladly return the same respect to you. ~~~

I never managed to develop an interest in Minecraft and well, I am very okay with that. In turn, I don't understand the hype behind Dream SMP and Technoblade and all the other characters that are popular lately but then i also don't take the time or have the want to look into it. As long as people continue to respect the real people behind these characters and don't get all creepy with it all, it's fine.

People seem to have fun with it but it's not for me. ~~~

The last one and it's about Tumblr. Ho boy xDD

Okay, so, I like this place well enough but I really liked it more when NSFW was still allowed. I keep mentioning it from time to time but it's hard to find another place to post NSFW that has an active userbase and a good tagging system. Tumblr was just right for it (back then!)

I also don't like to make too many reblogs just to respond back to someone else's reblog (with added commentary) of a post. It makes stuff look so cluttered. For years, I've been waiting for a better comment thread function for Tumblr blog posts to easier interact with people but eh... I'm not going to hold my breath anymore for such a feature.
