I finally, finally finished Mitsuhide's Act 2 after literal months of playing it sporadically. His Fate ending is actually one of my favorites in the game thus far.

Something about it felt slightly unsettling, and I think that's what made it so memorable. Mitsuhide and his MC seem happy enough -- critically, Mitsuhide finally seems at peace with himself, having shed his old life like an ill-fitted suit of armor -- but their overall circumstances remain kind of blurry.

They're content in this life, that much is clear. But how free are they, really, with their history hanging over them? With Hideyoshi hanging over them?

I saw a post somewhere that said something to the effect that what we come online for is to find communities but we've found ourselves stuck in audiences (I think that was the word) and I think that is why I've been so frustrated with social media over the past several years. It's been miserable and lonely on this side of the screen, and there's no more energy I have left for this. I don't have a voice anywhere, my art isn't good enough to be noticed or wanted, all I can do is look at other people's stuff from far away. I have no meaningful outlet here. This box so very rarely gives anything back, even when I was able to give more the returns diminished to the point that saying hi or being friendly felt more like a chore than a nice thing to do. I know some people are having a different/better experience with online interactions but I'm probably never going to have that. I don't know what's wrong with me exactly but I can't keep picking myself apart to try to please an invisible faceless void to try and figure that out. It's not healthy or fair.

I know I'm feeling depressed and empty so I don't know what I actually want to do about this right now. It's a bad time to burn it all down, I might feel different tomorrow. But man, a community? That I could contribute to and it helps me out too? I want to go there instead.

More Father Figure Clavell Headcanons:

Clavell would lull Arven to sleep so Sada could focus on her work and he was pretty good at it...though this backfires when Sada has a hard time getting Arven to sleep and Clavell has to go to the lighthouse lab at 1 AM because Arven keeps crying. This may or may not have ended up with Clavell falling asleep with Arven cradled in his arms. Multiple times. There may or may not be photographic evidence of this.

Although Sada took plenty of pictures of Arven, she didn't have the time or patience to put them in a photo album...but Clavell immediately jumped on the opportunity to make one for her. He put a lot of work into it too, making collages with stickers and origami paper. There's also little captions/notes in his handwriting. As Sada got deeper into her work, she stopped giving Clavell content for the photo albums and he kept it up himself for a while. The photo album is kept safely in Clavell's home, deciding to keep it for himself if Sada wasn't going to appreciate his hard work. Sada didn't care, since she had copies of the photos anyway—they just weren't neatly curated in a cute scrapbook.

When Clavell first met Arven, he was absolutely mesmerized—staring down at him in awe as he cradled him and hummed softly. (Internally, he was gushing about how precious Arven was and resisting the urge to coo at him. This restraint went away pretty quickly.) Sada practically had to tear Arven from Clavell's arms!

Director Clavell may or may not have called Arven his "lil buddy".

Director Clavell also may or may not have a bunch of useless facts and trivia about Maschiff/Mabosstiff for when Arven would ask him questions about his companion.

There's an entire shelf in Clavell's house devoted for gifts he's received from Arven. Any drawings were put in frames and any food/perishable gifts were captured in a photograph.

Besties if I'm behind in any of my replies and stuff I'M SORRY and it's because I'm struggling to try to get my life back together when a million tasks keep piling up endlessly and my monkey brain can only do (1) thing at a time

But also wanted to say that, between yesterday and today, I've seen a lot of new notes and reblogs on my very first Eddie fic, No One Like You, and, AAH, that makes my heart all warm and fuzzy! It was the first thing I wrote for Eddie way back when ST4 Vol. 1 came out, and the first thing I wrote after a big ass writing hiatus at that time. What excited my most about writing that fic (and for Eddie) is that I could FINALLY project my own music taste onto a character and have it actually fit lol! so putting up the playlist that inspired the fic was so special for me. I know it has plenty of things I'd change (I feel like my writing has improved since then imo) but still that story is very special. And so I'm very happy to see it's being rediscovered after two years!

I know a lot of you besties follow me for my Aemond stuff but I enjoy writing for/about Eddie the most because he has my entire heart. And it just makes me happy that my Eddie stories are kinda seeing a new light since I stopped writing for him because I felt like my Eddie writing never took off the way I hoped it would.
