i had the ending spoiled for me, sorta, via TikTok, though i had guesses that reggie would be the one to die due to the constant foreshadowing in the text. but though calloused, I'm a hopeless romantic, so i still delluded myself into thinking something might actually be ok.

the ending was sooo bittersweet, the sweet part coming especially from the fact that this girlie is a brazilian girlie and we're basically never mentioned, unless is to utterly represent the country as a lawless land, or a crazy jungle filled with uncivilized and savage people (basically, with racist colonial and imperialist lens).

but although i cried a lot during reg's death scene, i have to admit i thought it would be sadder. don't get me wrong, it was so heartbreaking, but i think that after crimson rivers, my idea of sad just became so unbearably gigantic that it's probably concerning.

as i did, by accident in crimson rivers, a specific scene became etched with the soundtrack that was playing, and somehow fit perfectly: in cr, epiphany by taylor started playing when monty was dying in effie's arms, and back then, i misunderstood the lyric "watch you breathing, watch you breathing out" for "watch you bleeding, watch you bleeding out". tbh both fit, but my listening just made it even sm sadder and engraved in my memory. in ahb!, as well, i bet on losing dogs starts playing at reggie's death, and especially one line fell SOO beautifully over the text, that now I don't seem to remember, but it will stay with me no nonetheless.

anyways, beautiful fic, liked the characterization pretty well, though i have to admit i doubted pete untill the end, probably as some kind of ptsd from literally every single marauder fic AND original hp books 🤡

absolutely loved the dorlene there

but my highlight HAS TO GO to rosekiller

i had never really read a fic that had it, though i guessed i would enjoy the ship, and idk if it was specifically otrtbs take on those two characters, but i simply adored every single scene, line, literally everything about them. they were sooo funny and unhinged, but also laced with angst and it's just the perfect combination for me. it made me actually want to seek out specific fics where they are the main couple.

okay I'm gonna go back to reading ch 2 of my new giant marauder fic project, that i just started today ( it's desintegration) and I'll be back tomorrow to assess my first impressions, as always

Book of Life AU hwhat

Debating whether j should just call it bol au of candle of life. But then there's the candlemaker. Idk. Let's just get on with it

Ok so. BoL au. So for context, La Muerte amd Xibalba bet on would save the family first; Mirabel is Isabela. Xibalba bet on Isa amd La Muerte Mirabel. This was when Mirabel was about 3 and Isabela was 10. Mirabel got La Muerte's blessing when she helped her find her way back to towm square after she got lost.

Xibalba cheated by purposely making Mirabel's door disappear. He screwed around with the candle magic and made it disappear; her original role was to be the next candle holder, which would have put him at a disadvantage in the bet. At this point, Mirabel and Isabela are competeing for Alma's love and attention, and so far Isa was clearly winning. (Note, there is no serious threat like in TBoL, just Mirabel needing to get back to the Land of the Living after realizing Alma is alive.)

Anyway Encanto happens, and this AU starts at the river scene. Right before Alma and Mirabel are about to hug, the two headed snake comes, Alma pushes Mirabel out of the way, and she gets bit, passing out. Family finds them and most of them (key word MOST not ALL) blame Mirabel for what happened, since they all think Alma's dead and have virtually no context. Ans aftet that vision scene with no explanation from Alma like in the movie? Yeah no, that doesn't go very well. She quote unquote:

"Made Casita fall resulting in Abuela's death".

Mirabel, now alone (Bruno went back to the town to stay with Alma, which the family took back to the town), meets Xibalba. She ends up getting bit, twice, and dies. Family finds her later. Alma is devastated once she finds out Mirabel passed away.

"I-I'm still alive but...where's...where's Mirabel?" Alma looked around the room, searching her family. She saw everyone except Mirabel.

"Mama, Mirabel...Mirabel passed away." Pepa whispered and Julieta broke down into sobs, again.

"No...no it can't be she was..." Alma shooked her head. They were lying. That couldn't be.

Once in the Land of the Remembered, she asks for Alma; seeing that she's not there, she's taken to the Madrogal float and meets Pedro; basically he's wondering why the heck shes done there so soon. After the whole situation, they confront Xibalba, found out he cheated and sets out for the Land of the Forgotten.

She survives the judgement since she had La Muertes blessing. Meets Cabdle Maker, the find La Muerte, they all find out he cheated. Thrn comes the challenge. Mirabel has to have all the Madrigal gifts and face their trauma. All at once. At first she's doing fine, just barely managing to get through them; then she gets to Alma's most traumatic memory; Pedro's death.

She realizes why her Abuela was the way she was and eventually gets through the entire challenge. And then she lives again.

My girlfriend and I are staying at a water for today and tomorrow and I am absolutely wiped out. I wanna take a nap, but I also want to play my switch. I spent the whole day swimming, going in the lazy river, going down slides, in the wave pool, and the hot tub. Here’s a fun tip: if you’re 23 or older, don’t go on the slides more than 3 times, you’ll get the worst headache ever and you’ll get all dizzy.

There was a duck when we first arrived, I named him Mr. Quacker’s. I hope he’s doing well. I also brought along my Halloween skeleton Arthur for the road-trip, he likes spending time with me so I just had to bring him. Will send pictures of everything. Am so exhausted rn. I'm sure Mr Quacker is living life to the fullest I hope you give him some bread or something. Last time I went to a water park I was 11 years old when I went to visit my aunt and cousins in florida. I remember I almost drowned lol not a good time let me tell ya.

As for me I'm chilling tbh my mom cut my hair finally I feel like I can breath again it was way to long, ngl im tired as well I've been awake since 3am but it's a bit to late to take a nap if I do I'll wake up at 11pm and not sleep for the rest of the night. I'm compensating by playing Spider-Man and the new fornite chapter/ season.

June 1st, 2022

So today is my last full day of school. It has already been interesting. The morning was normal but I am now wearing the ring I made but I need to refinish it. See awhile ago I refiled it because I hated how thick it was so yeah. Anyways, let's move on to the daily events. Before first hour even started, Mrs. W was "yelling" at Froggie because they had so many apples and then Cat wanted to have Froggies chocolate muffin and was jokingly saying that they would have a seizure if they didn't get it. Now for those concerned they didn't and it has become a joke for us because they have epilepsy and had a 'seizure' at school but it might not have been one. So yeah. Then during study hall I just did my little thing as per usual. Second hour I got called down to return my chromebook and charger. Third I did most of my final and helped someone else with hers. Fourth did another quiz fml then I asked for help so yay. My teacher helped some but yeah. Then fifth hour I finished my final. Also I burnt my had a little on the crucible third hour- I also find it funny that nobody knows the schedule for tomorrow at all not even the teachers. Also during fifth hour Penguin had me read something he wrote and I personally didn't care for it. It's not my kind of story so yeah. Anyways the rest of the day was ok. I got a 43/50 on my spanish final. I did some late work when I got home. Right now I'm crying in my bathroom because I am so worried. So my dog Comet is 13 and he has been having hip issues. So as I was about to go to bed he tried to get up but couldn't and was whimpering really badly. He was also shaking and panting a lot. Then he stood up and when I tried to coax him to get in his bed he kept falling to his right side. So I helped him to his bed. We really don't have the money to take him to the vet rn but I don't care he needs to go. I am so fucking worried. I don't want to loose him. I don't know if I can go on without him. I love him so much we have been by each other's side for almost 13 years. Fuck this hurts so bad I don't want him to go. Anyways fuck it I am done and heading to bed.
