Really need to get this off my chest:

I don't even remember the last time a character had me feeling so many emotions the way Astarion has.

It transcends physical attraction because, at one point, your relationship with him has flipped and you are able to be with him without him feeling the need to perform and to use his body to get you to never turn on him.

It stops being about sex. He is the one who has to claim his sexuality after years of abuse and years of having his consent being taken from him.

"I spent two hundred years using my body to lure pretty things back for my Master. What I wanted, how I felt about what I was doing, it never mattered. You could have asked me to do the same - to throw myself at her, what I wanted be damned. But you didn't. And I'm grateful."

"All you had to do was fall for it (his plan). All I had to do was not fall for you."

His writer, Stephen Rooney, did such an amazing job at completely breaking those who choose to romance him. They could have done the classic sexy vampire guy with a sharp tongue who is there for comic relief. But no, they really went ahead and poured into him countless things many people relate to.

The amount of times I have seen SA survivors praise the way he was written and how it's helped them... it makes my heart clench.

Yes. He is a very handsome character and his voice actor does a phenomenal job at delivering his lines, but once you get to meet Astarion on a deeper level, you realize just how complex he is and how easy it is to attach yourself to him.

I am an abuse survivor and there's lines of dialogue that are so raw that I need to take a step back.

So while I do like to show how attractive he is here, I also hope more people get to experience what amazing writing can do in a game.
