Ed moves forward suddenly and we cut to the deck where everyone is sitting around eating when a voice rings out from off screen and they all freeze.

Many snickers and sly looks pass between the crew. Buttons, looking confused, leans over to Lucius (who is definitely not dead) and murmurs...

"Whas all that about?"

Lucius sighs.

"Oh aye!" Buttons seems satisfied with this explanation and continues with his meal.

What he doesn't understand later is why his captain is being so reckless or pacing around his cabin at night. How else would he manage to keep injuring his feet over and over again?
