Chapter 1 - The Bar, the Boy and the Bookstore
Parings: Chan x Female Reader Series: Creatures of Chaos -Part 1 Word Count: 4.9k Genre: Romance, vampire au, Fluff, Angst, Warnings: Swearing, supernatural themes, suggestive themes
You knew the fairy tales were true, you knew Oddinaries existed but you also knew you were an ordinary human who wasn't considered interesting to anyone. At least that is what you thought you knew.
"The night is dark and full of horrors!" your grandmother prophesied ominously as you finished adjusting your hair in the hallway mirror. Your had spent the last half an hour getting ready for a night out with some friends and as normal she had flitted about spilling out worries of curses and ill deeds. Rolling your eyes at your reflection you continued smoothing your hair in the dim hallway light.
"Dark and full of horrors" she wailed this time far more dramatically.
"That's what happens at night Grandma it gets dark" you muttered back as your phone pinged to let you know your bestie Mimi was down stairs. I'll be home later grandma, love you" she warily smiled as she gripped your hand tightly before letting go for you to leave.
Your grandmother had lived with you all of your life and although you loved her so dearly she did sound like a medieval crone the way she endlessly worried about curses, "evil" supernatural creatures and magic. It had gotten worse recently even though, the Unveiling an event which lead to the revelation that many of the beings believed to be only works of folklore actually existed, had occurred some 50 years earlier. It had been a whirlwind of change as society began to accept Fae Folk, Elves and alike which had profited your family greatly in the end. Her concern had always been with the beings considered to be evil in nature, even though you had never met a being who you would have considered evil, she was terrified of Vampires, Werewolves and anything she deemed to be a Demon in disguise. But she was your grandmother and she had helped care for you since you were a baby and she did after all make the best tea and cakes you had ever eaten.
Getting in the cab waiting at the curbside you smiled brightly at your best friend before whisking away to the new bar that had opened just a few suburbs over. A few drinks, some dancing and a good catch up was just what you needed on a Friday night to unburden all the mundane week woes that Mimi always seemed to have had. Mimi had started a new job a few month ago so she was still having issues with her new co workers some of which were not human, you were still only working at a small bookstore that your family had owned for generations, plus the endless worry of both your families about you.
The new bar which Mimi had discovered was called Ordinary, a strange name for a bar you thought, and it was pumping when you pulled up lively music spilling out onto the street the neon red and green signage throwing patterns across the entrance. Grinning to yourselves you and Mimi quickly found two places at the end of the long bar and ordered your drinks chatting about anything and everything you began to feel the stress of your week fading.
"I'm having so much trouble with the Fae I work with she is so cold to me I don't know what to do" Mimi complained sighing dramatically
"Have you tried looking up what her culture is like? I mean you might be doing something offensive and you wouldn't even know if you don't try to figure it out" You replied trying to defuse her inevitable dramatic outburst. Having worked at your family's bookstore for the past few years while you were still studying had given you a far greater understanding of other beings. You had made friendly acquaintances with several witches, a few Fae Folk, an extremely sweet Elven girl and even an old and seemly grumpy warlock, named Aloysius, who often had you scouring tomes for hour looking for exactly what he wanted.
"I guess but why would you want to work in our world if your going to be sensitive about things?" Mimi frowned oblivious to how obnoxious she sounded
"Because she probably needs to pay her bills just like everyone else. I mean Mimi, come on it's not that hard to be nice" you lectured softly knowing that Mimi was just frustrated with her job not her co-workers. She sighed dramatically before slipping from the bar stool
"Bathroom break I'll be back" Mimi announced loudly giggling you finished your drink before opening your phone to go through your socials. That was when you felt someone was watching you. Looking around subtly you couldn't see anyone showing any interest in you but still you couldn't shake the feeling someone was staring at you.
It was just another night the boys had dragged him along to a new bar hoping to find an easy hook up or two to fill their time and he was going to be bored again. The new bar, Changbin had assured him catered to their kinds, it was run by another vampire or perhaps he had said warlock and had a secret entrance to a seperate section that would give them freedom and anonymity towards the back of the bar beyond the bathrooms and kitchen entrances. But for now they stayed in the front, the acceptable section, Hyunjin had called it at some point watching the clientele that would potentially become their late night entertainment.
Babysitting his brothers was how he usually referred to these trips out. Stopping Jeongin and Han getting too over excited, keeping Minho in a good mood if he even came along, keeping Changbin's anger in check and very occasionally fishing Hyunjin and Felix out of trouble if they tried to make a move on a taken human. It was tiring and often more trouble than it was worth but he loved his boys and would put up with just about anything to make them happy.
He had only been there for a couple of hours watching as the boys either danced with humans or drank in the booth they had acquired with him. His interest had been peaked though when the thought he saw a flash of a design that seemed familiar to him it had appeared in a gap in the crowd. He scanned the bar with his eyes lazily until they landed on an ordinary looking human girl with cropped hair sitting with another girl at the bar. She didn't appear anything other than an ordinary to his eyes except for the small design that adorned the pendant sitting at her throat. The longer he watched her the more he was convinced that it was in fact a Vega symbol surrounded by small rose branches. It had been many hundreds of years since he had seen that symbol anywhere let alone anyone wearing it out in the open.
Still unable to shake the feeling you were being watched you glanced around the bar hoping to discover the source of the increasing uncomfortable feeling running up your spine. Turning slightly further to your right your eyes met a pair of deep dark ones belonging to an attractive guy on the other side on the room tilting his head slightly in greeting and smiling softly once he realised he had been caught staring you smiled quickly blushing before turning back to the bar as Mimi returned. You continued chatting as the handsome stranger observed you his blatant stare feeling less uncomfortable and more flattering as time wore on. After all you were with a friend you didn't feel unsafe. After another few drinks you checked the time and realised you would need to get home so that you could get to work on time in the morning
I think I've had enough for one night Mimi I'm going to head home" you almost shouted over the music "do you want to share a cab?"
"I think I might stay" Mimi shouted back "there are a few girls over there that I know from the gym I might just stay with them" you nodded and walked her over to the booth she mentioned promising to text her later as she settled in you waved goodbye and made your way outside to head home.
"You know if you spoke to her instead of staring you might actually have a good time" Hyunjin chuckled sitting down across the booth from Chan.
"It's not like you would strike out either she blushed when she saw you and not in an 'uncomfortable how do I react' sort of way more in a 'I think he's attractive way' " Felix agreed knocking back his drink in one gulp.
"Shut up" Chan grumbled into his drink as he watched you walk over to a booth of girls that had been eyeing Felix and Hyunjin all night.
"Oh if she is staying with them you could dance with her!" Han bounced excitedly as he teased Chan "the one with the braid has her eye on Hyunjin and the girl with the fringe is interested in Felix"
"How could she not be interested in me "Hyunjin smirked sending a flirty look to the booth.
"Again for the love of god shut up" Chan groaned this time fighting the urge to cover his face.
"I wouldn't worry about it hyung" Jeongin murmured "she's not staying with them" watching glancing quickly back to his drink.
Chan's eyes shot up to your retreating figure as you appeared to be making for the exit. Letting go of a breath he didn't realise he was holding he watched you leave and get into one of the taxis waiting out the front. He knew he had missed his chance but he was also relieved he couldn't quite remember what exactly that symbol handing from your rather alluring your neck meant and he wanted to know that before he approached you and he would approach you eventually he had heard enough of your conversation with your friend, thank you supernatural hearing, to know how to find you again.
"Her friend is staying though if that helps" Jeongin continued still unsure if Chan was even listening. Chan nodded slowly thinking over what he would even say to your friend if he was to speak to her. I seemed to be the height of poor manners to show interest in a woman to just ask her about her friends at least in his book his brothers had much looser feelings about morality now that they were more out in the open but Chan had always viewed himself more traditional, even if it was probably just because of his age.
Still mulling over what to do he noticed that Hyunjin, Felix and Changbin had taken to the dancefloor with some of the girls he watched as they made them blush and flirt back wishing he was less awkward. Han, however, had come up with an idea when Changbin returned to the booth for another round Han had started whispering to him frantically while subtly gesturing to the girls on the dance floor.
Saturday mornings were usually pretty dead for you so early in the morning so you took your time with opening the bookstore on weekends. Pulling up the shutters and unlocking the door you began to ready the store for any customers who, probably wouldn't, but may appear. It was clear this morning although the weather crisp it made for a lovely view of the street as you busied yourself dusting the endless rare books that your family always managed to acquire and straightening the new more mainstream books. The bell above the door chimed surprising you slightly as no one normally came in before lunch
"You here babes? I bought you coffee" Mimi called out sweetly making a beeline for the counter. You lent over the upper floor railing to see her still in the clothes from last night.
"So I'm assuming you had a very good night then? You didn't even answer my got home safe text. Does it count as a walk of shame if you go to a book store instead of your house?"
"I have so much to tell you" Mimi grinned, you rolled your eyes and shook your head at her before taking a long sip of the glorious coffee in front of you waiting for her to continue. "So his name is Changbin and he is drop dead gorgeous. He wouldn't confirm it but I'm pretty sure he wasn't fully human he was far too strong not to mention how rough he could be if he wanted to" you screwed up your face but she continued anyway "he had such handsome friends too Keiko hooked up with this guy who looked like he was sculpted by the gods. A few of them were definitely halfers and there was one guy that had seemed interested in you but you left before he could introduce himself"
"You can not call them that! it's rude as hell and mean Mimi" you countered before she could continue with her details.
"Yeah, yeah how am I mean to describe them then? they definitely were not fully human too good looking and too smooth" she continued with zero shame. "And like I said he had a friend that you would absolutely like we could even double date if you wanted".
The bell on the front door jingled again and you quickly shooed Mimi away to make it look like you were not just gossiping
"Thanks for the coffee but you should go now I've got customers" you whispered waving before walking towards who ever had just entered.
"Good morning welcome to Hawthorne and Bramble" you chirped "if you are looking for rare books you have come to the right place if you need assistance please just call" you returned to the counter to finish your coffee before it cooled. The guy continued to browse for some time as others came in and out to purchase stationary or popular fiction.
"Miss?" a warm deep voice called to you from upstairs you instantly made your way towards to him smiling
"Of course sir what can I get you?"
"Do you have any books on folklore beings or magical beings?" he enquired in a voice that seemed to sooth like honey you felt your cheeks flush slightly at your thoughts of him. Before nodding and leading him towards the back of the store.
"All our folklore and magic books and tomes are here. The more fiction based books are downstairs. Is there anything in particular you are after?" your question stopping him momentarily as he glanced from the books on the shelves to your face for the first time giving you a good look at him. His features were incredibly attractive a small high nose, plump lips, pretty blue eyes and a sprinkling of freckles that dusted his cheekbones. His silver hair fell across his forehead making him look far younger than he probably was considering the depth of his voice. In short he was breathtaking to look at and you had to force yourself to avert your gaze back to the shelf to avoid him noticing the blush that was now surely staining your cheeks and neck.
"I'm looking for anything you have on vampires or vampire lore" he grinned cheekily catching on to how flustered you looked "The rarer the better to be truthful"
"I'm afraid we only have these four or five books that relate solely to vampire the others are all a bit more generally about supernatural beings" you tried your best to sound professional even if you heartbeat was going through the roof, pulling the books from the shelves he didn't even bother to look at the titles before looking back at you
"I'll take all of them then thank you Miss"
Nodding you went to take the books from his before he shook his head and indicated for you to head back to the counter he followed dutifully behind carrying all of the books you had mentioned. Placing them gently down for you to package up for him as he handed over a credit card to pay for them.
"Thank you for coming to Hawthorne and Bramble please visit us again" you smiled shyly as you gave him the handles of the bag of books "Should you need further books or older tomes I can have them sourced and brought in for you if it is possible for us"
"No thank you. you have been very helpful Miss…?" his bright eyes met yours and a feeling of calmness filled you. You answered quickly feeling odd that you would tell him your name so freely. You usually didn't have much small talk with customers you didn't know especially those who bought the rare books preferring not to pry or seem too interested.
"Well until next time then" he smiled almost too sweetly before exiting, before you had too much time to dwell on it though another customer entered and took your attention.
Stepping back out into the sunshine Felix grinned as he made his way back down the block to where Chan was waiting.
"Did you get all the tomes?" Chan asked slowly quirking his head at Felix's expression
"Yes I did I bought all they had…oh and I got her name for future reference" Felix smirked watching Chan stiffen slightly. Chan furrowed his brows before turning back towards their townhouse Felix trailing behind him with a bounce in his steps. The boys all adored Chan but he was so much fun to tease that they couldn't help teasing him nearly all the time.
Returning home Chan quickly returned himself and the tomes to his study, Felix had done well some of them were well over a hundred years old and although most were written by humans who had encountered one or more vampires one was written by a vampire. Settling down to read for the rest of the early morning Chan was hopeful to find what he was looking for.
Minho had heard Chan and Felix come home early usually none of them left the house before lunch so it had peaked his interest that his dearest friends were up to something but busied himself with making breakfast to pass the time. The others would be down to eat soon anyway and as the house warlock he had also taken over a good portion of the cooking duties as he was more familiar with each species Chan had inevitably brought home. All ate normal foods which made it easier to prepare but he could never be too sure if Chan would adopt a different more difficult to handle species. Cambion, Fae Folk, Pixies and Werewolves ate exactly like normal humans with occasional specialty herbs or spices that Minho could add Sirens tended to prefer seafood but Jeongin was never fussy since he was far too polite to ever complain or even request certain dishes be prepared for him and the average Incubi was easy to feed it was just Hyunjin who was overly fussy much to Minho's annoyance. The kitchen door swung open forcefully as Changbin and Han were the first to enter instantly taking their mugs of coffee that Minhon had already prepared for them.
"So let me get this right" Han started plopping himself down gracelessly at the kitchen table "you brought her friend home to hook up with her even after I asked you to get a bit of info out of her and she didn't get suspicious at all?" confusion coloured his words before he sipped his coffee
"Well first of all how could she resist this?" Changbin grinned flexing his biceps causing Han and Minho to fake gag "and secondly she was pretty tipsy and all over me I wasn't going to turn her down and I planted the idea that I had a friend with would be perfect for her friend to date"
"What and who are you even talking about? Is this about that girl who thought she was sneaking out of here this morning?" Minho asked faking interest in his friends love lives. Truthfully he didn't give a shit but if it made them happy he would support them and eventually one of them would have to find a mate anyway.
"Chan found a girl last night but was too scared to talk to her so Han and I thought we would help a brother out" Chanbin shrugged taking a long pull from his mug "I asked he friend some questions, bought her a couple of drinks then brought her back here"
"Chan wasn't scared he was just too reserved about it you know how old fashioned he is and besides he was hung up on something about her anyway" Han added defensively Minho had just about finished cooking when Seungmin, Jeongin and Hyunjin arrived each taking their normal place at the table
"I have never seen him this interested in a human before" Minho grumbled putting the last plate of food down in front of the others as Felix appeared in the doorway.
"Yeah he seemed far too interested to not do anything about it" Hyunjin agreed digging into the pancakes on his plate "I mean what if she had stayed and had hooked up with some other guy?" he trailed off watching Felix casually walk in and sit across from him
"That was never going to happen" Changbin interrupted scooping eggs onto his plate "He looked like he would have gotten feral if just some dude put his hands on her. I mean shit if she showed interest in any of us he would have been beyond furious"
"Good thing it was me that went into the bookshop to see her this morning then even if I did get her to blush" Felix smirked before shoveling cereal into his mouth.
"I'm sorry what the actual fuck?" Han yelped spitting toast and egg across the table "I did not put in all that time planning and getting wolfman over here to get info out of her drunk friend for you to sweep in and take the glory Fae boy!"
"You put in what time exactly? It was me who brought her home and got her talking before we…" Changbin started to argue
"Yes Changbin we heard the time and effort you put in" Seungmin sourly interrupted sarcasm dripping from his voice as he buttered some toast "Could we not be reminded over breakfast" Changbin grinned before they all continued to eat in silence for a few minutes
"Besides her name did you get anything else from your outing this morning Felix?" Minho tried again to get to the bottom of this human girl situation without the crude details from the others
"Nothing other than a few tomes on vampires and the fact that she is very pretty, she has brown eyes, she blushes a fantastic colour and he does in fact wear a necklace that has a vega symbol surrounded by branches although I'm not sure if they were rose branches like Chan said" Felix shrugged noticing the look of exasperation on Minho's face "Besides I know Vega symbols aren't super common in human jewellery who says she doesn't have a witch for a friend who gave it to her anyone like us would know that symbol is for protection. It wouldn't be too strange to think she got it as a gift or just bought it because she liked it, jewellery with ancient symbols goes in and out of fashion constantly"
"Her family has had that bookshop for ages according to her friend" Changbin interjected "Maybe one of the patrons of the tomes gave it to them instead of payment that used to be fairly common"
"Hold on her friend? have you not even remembered her name?" Seungmin teased causing a mix of chuckles and smirks to erupt around the table and a disgruntled noise from the werewolf
"Yeah two hundred years ago maybe Binnie but she could have befriended any of the long term customers that book shop is the only one to specialise in the kinds of tomes they have" Jeongin interrupted waving his jam covered toast "so it could just be like a heirloom or something she might not even know what it is except that it's pretty"
"Or" snapped Chan "you could keep from speculating about my damn business" He brown eyes flashing almost black in annoyance. Jeongin looked down at his plate blanching slightly at the look Chan had given them he didn't like angering the vampire especially since he had taken them all in when they needed help. Chan was a sort of collector of stray souls helping non human beings assimilate into society whilst hiding in plain sight to help them survive his kindness saving each of them from potential death had they been discovered. "Its alright Jeongin" Chan softened instantly seeing the young siren in distress serving himself some bacon and eggs "I'm not angry"
"Why are you so moody then?" Han asked hesitantly and softly "you seemed happier than you have been in decades when you saw her last night then this morning you looked like you wanted to rip apart anyone who spoke"
"Her necklace. I couldn't remember it even though I should have, that frustrated me more than it should have. I'm sorry if I was hard on you" Chan apologised just as softly being the head of the little rag tag family meant he nearly never apologised. His word was usually heeded as law and usually he was level headed but your appearance last night has shaken him more than he would ever want to admit. The kitchen was suddenly silent
"Did you just apologise? Chan? to us?" Felix spluttered shocked at this development
"I'm pretty sure that hasn't happened in three hundred years" Hyunjin teased eyes sparkling "should we throw some sort of party?"
"Don't make me take it back" Chan snipped suppressing a teasing smile "anyway I found that symbols like vega aren't that rare as you know but the surround of rose branches makes it rarer. Its a symbol of a clan that was around about 700 years ago they wore it for protection as they worked and travelled I'm not sure if hers is an original but if it was it would have words 'tenebrae finiantur in lucem' engraved around the edge of it. Did you happen to see anything like that Felix while you were making her blush?" Chan finished looking to the younger boy who looked like he was trying hard to remember every single detail about his encounter with you and not noticing the borderline exasperated look on Chan's face.
"To be honest Chan I didn't see anything like that but I also didn't know to look at it that closely. I could always go back to get another book and look at it to see if it did though" Felix's eyes shone hopefully trying to help his older brother however he could and talking with you hadn't been difficult for him he thought you were cute.
"What does that mean anyway? I know its latin but it's been a few centuries since I bothered to use latin" Segumin asked genuinely interested where this development was going.
"The darkness will be ended by the light" Minho answered easily flicking his fingers to vanish the used dishes away.
"Indeed. It was the creed of a clan of hunters they had families all over the world who specialised in hunting vampires, werewolves and demons to protect humanity. Although usually they themselves were not all that holy usually they were more dangerous than us. I would like to find out if she is in fact descended from them" Chan explained easily sipping his tea.
"Are you shitting me you finally take interest in anyone outside our little band of the damned and it's a woman who hunts our kind? have you gone senile? Chanbin exploded suddenly standing
"Chill out Binnie you will give yourself a hernia. Chan knows what he doing" Han immediately grabbing him by his arm pulling him back down to the table "besides there are no hunters anymore he said it was from hundreds of years ago"
"There are no more monster hunters" Chan reassured him "my kind killed nearly all of them and if she was one she did a lousy job identifying any of us last night or more importantly Felix this morning" the mood in the kitchen became pensive again.
"So are you going to ponder this forever or are you going to fuck her?" Minho asked loudly causing Chan to glare at him "what it's a legitimate question" he shrugged watching Chan closely and the others snickered
"Considering he's never spoken too her, stared at her for an hour from across the bar on a night out and has now sent Lix into do recconasance on her I would say no he is probably just going to stalk her until she dies of natural causes" Hyunjin smirked getting to his feet "besides I wanted to go paint in the park so I will be heading out today" striding from the kitchen into the rest of the house.
"I mean the haughty Incubi and cranky Warlock have a point. You do sort of seem creepy just staring and stuff" Han ventured running out of the room giggling before Minho could send some sort of spell after him.
Minho shook his head at the door the Pixie had just run through before turning his attention back to his older brother who was sitting looking intently into his tea.
"I'll go in tomorrow or Monday I need to see if the grimoire I asked for has arrived." Minho offered tentatively "besides if she saw you last night she might panic if you appear again so soon" Chan nodded sighing.

Featuring Joe Goldberg with a person he cannot figure out.
There she was, almost like destiny. She's nervous, looking at her jittering fingers, she takes a step to the romance aisle. Dark romance fantasy I'm about to be the man of your dreams. Two steps, one step and pow.
“Oh I'm so sorry!” she replied quite quickly, embarrassed knowing this will be burned in her memory at such a price.
“Oh please, we both know it was my fault." I joked I want you to feel at ease, talk to me. Let me know if I hit the jackpot baby. She chuckled, such a snotty laugh, cute even.
“Dark romance?”
“Yes.”
Another quick answer, losing her God I'm losing her.
“Now the best option would be romantic grays, though everyone is into that vampire series now.” I scoffed at letting her fingertips grave against mine hearing her let out a fake laugh to extort conversation,
“God, Twilight is horrible, they look like medieval creeps!”
She laughed, her shoulders fell back, teeth flashed. It was a genuine joke. Growing comfortable. Make your move joe, make your move.
“Almost as if he's covered in ashes!”
I joked, quickly I realized I messed up, he's a vampire dummy. Of course he'll be pale. You work at a bookstore Joe get it together. Rail her in. I had to almost curse myself listening to her fake little giggle.
Woah there, she placed her phone on a bookshelf, Bingo! When leaning on it I swiped it up. Making sure she was bending down to get a book, her loose genes and curved hoody smelled like pineapples, freshly washed, ironed, and linted. I watched her walk toward Male fantasy, a bunch of big bulky men. God I did not fit her type.
“Hey, um sir?” she called out to me, making me realize I didn't give her my name I walked toward him giving her a little jog.
“Sorry, it's Joe. Joe goldberg. assistance?”
“Yeah um, Do you have Bitten?”
She asked me my heart pumped out of my chest God I had no comparison, joe keep it cool keep it cool.
“The series with big bulked guys? Right this way.”
I joked, almost killing myself for how corny it was.
“Anything with a man is fine, as long as they're clean shaven.”
She joked, time to get the wax Joe. Many minutes later I rewarded her with the book, she paid for it. She left but quickly came back in.
“Bye Joe!”
She stated, don't say that baby no. See you later.
-
Hours later I checked out and the store came to a close, in the midst of walking home I took out the phone, password.
Shit.
I turned over the back of the phone and to my luck, the silly girl had the name on the back of it.
“Twin flames.”
I typed in, immediately it opened and I was met with some type of romance screen, messages where are you? I clicked on the messages, there were many many men. Going from A to Z
Andrew
Billy
Camden
Derek
Emanuel
ECT
“Who was in your life, and why so many men.” I whispered to myself hitting my head on the door from not paying attention, I unlocked my door and sat down on my couch. Notifications came popping in. I checked the message from someone who was labeled “Bestie 💕” Woman.
I was met with a variety of sad texts.
I can't put up with his bullshit!
Like wtf am I supposed to do?
I don't want to abandon him but it'd be better if he got killed!
#Fuck you Andrew.
How could my luck be possibly this bad, First my dad. Then everything else, now this? How am I supposed to live.
One who is Andrew? I kept scrolling until I saw something that made my eyes light up. A contact named Andrew, quickly I clicked on it searching for serious messages.
Nude?
And that's all I had to see to know he was a dickhead. Don't worry princess because I'm about to be your night and shining armor. Next her gallery maybe I'll get lucky. I scrolled and scrolled, nothing appealing what so ever, no pictures of her just the sky and it's dull colors
'Live'
Something popped up on the top of the screen, I clicked it only to be faced with a brightly colored room, confusion fled to my face. I gave a subtle tilt. Now what do we have here? I wondered only to hear a familiar giggle. My eyes widened when I was met with an almost nude Girl, minus lingerie. the same one from the bookstore.
“I left my phone at the fucking bookstore!” she cursed, placing her feet on top of the camera so people would have a clear view of the print from her vagina, and how thick it looked from the bright yellow lingerie, she pulled the lingerie up, making it sink into her pussy lips.
“No porn for me, I think I've been a good girl.” she flipped onto her stomach her elbows hoisting her up as she looked directly into the camera raising her ass in the air and grinding it back on the floor, one of her hands flying to grope her ass.
She girl fucking? Seriously unexpected.
Weird little comments like
Suck a dildo
Play with that pussy
Pillow ride
Spank yourself
You've been naughty.
Show me them tits!
I'm gonna cum
Quickly I grabbed my own computer, opened it and downloaded the camgirl app, I made an anonymous account, logging into the same stream. And quickly I became one of those weird comments.
Don't you think we deserve a show?
“Matter of fact, I do think you deserve a show let's do a vote!” she giggled. standing up and bringing a board into view. She wrote
Suck a dildo
Pussy play
Pillow ride
Self spanking
Tit play
Cum play
Rewarded 1 v 1 = Best commenter
“ Now to vote!” she smiled innocently easily making this the hardest decision in my life with only five seconds left I picked pussy play but quickly lost to the pillow ride.
She grabbed a pillow and pulled off her thongs, quickly hopping on her pillow and riding it, quickly I pulled my cock out grabbing some nearby moisturizer, and plumbed my dick up and down,
My finger swirling on the tip as I jacked myself off, she grabbed a nearby dildo and began sucking on it I went even faster pre cum drenching my hands.

Indie Author Update #19
Onto Chapter 28! I've been steadily writing 500-600 words per day which isn't much but is the average when I haven't written consistently for a while. Last year I was able to pump out up to 1.5k to 2k per day after two months of constantly writing day in and day out. So I'll get there eventually. Plus that was when I was only writing and didn't have to come up with things to post on my socials.
Oh! And I've managed to cut down six chapters from my last draft which were all filler. So I'll be able to expand the plot into Act 3 without going over 110k. I'm trying to keep all the important bits and erase all the stuff that doesn't work anymore and padded fluff.
I wrote out my plan for Act 2 and Act 3 but a lot of things are already changing. One of which is the romance, which this time around has evolved more in depth with Moira and her beau saying I love yous through actions and not actual words....
Honestly if there was a category for my series to fall under, it would be tragedy. But people don't write enough of those for there to be a rows and aisles lining bookstores. I'm not a fan of happy endings, simply because there are too many of them and I don't find them well earned. Give me angst. Give me bittersweet. I love books that leave me in a book hangover well into the next morning.
I already have the end of my series planned out. I know most of my character's fates but there are quite a few of them not fully set in stone. But I'll get around to it sometime next year when I begin writing book 4. There will be four or five in total depending on how everything plays out.
This week's goals are to keep on writing, going out when the weather is nice, and keeping active for my mental health.

about the angel dust request, that's totally fine : I'lI respect that boundary
as for the request, what if the reader was doing some bonding time with lucifer/alastor and then they bump into the other one (if they are out with lucifer then they bump into alastor or vice versa) and since y/n is friends with both, they have a *cough cough* ‘magnificent’ idea that they should come along on their outing too.
y/n is enjoying themselves whilst being oblivious to these two mfs bickering behind her back and being all nice to y/n to prove themselves as the better friend
idk this was some random idea so you don’t have to do it if there are any problems or if you don’t even feel like writing it :) anyways have a lovely day
okay so for this one i dont know if i got it exactly right so BARE WITH ME MY BRAIN IS SLOW AND I HAD TO READ THE REQUEST LIKE 40 TIME BLLEEEUHHH anyways!! enjoy and im sorry if i messed anything up :3

BEHIND THE SCENES
You sit on the crimson couch, bored out of your mind. You sloppily pick up your phone that lay beside your shoulder and call Lucifer. "HEEEEEEEEEY" He responds, picking up a small, black duck with a red beak and fiery designs.
You grimace. "Wanna go out?" He pumps his fist and nods "Yeeeeaaauuuhhh, but can I have maybe 15 minutes, I'm working on this new design and-" You hang up and put your shoes on before leaving the house.
Once you reach Lucifer's home, you knock loudly and he answers. Before he can speak, you drag his arm out and go on a walk. "So. How have you been, what's new?" Lucifer says, giving you quick finger guns. "Not much, I've been pretty busy at the hotel but-"
Your speech is cut off by a tall figure. "Hello, my dear!!" A dated voice says. Alastor. "Alastor, hey." You smile a bit at his sudden appearance but are shocked quickly when he walks beside you.
"Lucifer, I see you're as- laid back as usual." The radio demon spits through his everlasting grin. "You're just as worn out as I remember, that's crazy, isn't it? Anyways, me and y/n are gonna be going on a stroll, it was so nice to-"
"Nonsense, Lucifer!! I have nothing better to do and I would just love to take you to the bookstore, my good lady." Alastor smiles at a flabbergasted expression coming from you. "I'm sure she would prefer to go to the ice cream parlor." Lucifer interjects.
"Both are fi-"
"No worries, y/n! We'll get you that book as soon as possible." Alastor grins as Lucifer huffs. "Why don't we treat ourselves to ice cream after then? I'll get you your favorite, eh?" He returns with the finger guns. And you reply with a nod.
"I'm sure this will go splendid, won't it, Lucifer?"

I read a story about a Spanish learner who said something like "estoy caliente" to someone, meaning they were hot, but that really means "I'm horny" or something like that. Are there any other "false friends" like that that someone should really know?
Technically yes, you would not be saying estoy caliente although there are cases where you might be feeling someone's forehead and you might say está caliente which is like "they are hot to the touch". That's more about temperature of the skin; for saying "I am hot" as in "I feel warm" you say tengo calor
There are a few expressions that are like this, some are regionally applicable.
Sometimes there are also words that have more than one meaning so it can get confusing sometimes
-
1. The big one people will never stop telling you is that embarazada means "pregnant" not "embarrassed"; if you're feeling embarrassed you usually use avergonzado/a "ashamed" or the verb avergonzarse "to be embarrassed"
2. I was told never to use estar excitado/a because it comes out as "to be aroused". I have however heard people use excitado/a as "excited", but it could be both. I was taught to say entusiasmado/a or emocionado/a "excited" or in some cases ansioso/a "anxious"
3. pretender is not really "to pretend"... it means "to claim" or "to go after", but it could be like "to try to obtain" in the sense of a "pretender to the throne" [someone who makes a claim to the throne], or pretendiente is a "suitor" as in someone who is trying to "woo" someone.... The true word for "to pretend" is fingir which is like "to feign"
4. la decepción means "disappointment" and decepcionar is "to deceive"; el engaño is "deceit" or "deception" and engañar is "to deceive"
5. la demanda is often used as a "lawsuit", where demandar is "to file a claim" or "to file a lawsuit". There are times when la demanda can be a "demand" [like oferta y demanda is "supply and demand"] so I guess this is sometimes a false friend, but I'm used to seeing a "demand" as la petición for "request" or something more extreme as la exigencia or exigir which are often "to demand" or "to require"
6. la sentencia means "sentence" usually in the sense of a courtroom like someone handing down a "sentence" for a conviction. A typical "sentence" is often la frase or la oración
7. el acta is not an "act", it's a "certificate" or an "official recording" of something; an "act" is usually la acción or el acto
8. actual means "current" or "present-day"; usually "actual" is real or verdadero/a "true"
9. el campo is a "field" or "campus", while a "camp" is often el campamento
10. This one comes up every so often but bombero/a means "firefighter" where it comes from la bomba which does mean "bomb" but also means "pump", so a bombero/a is someone working a water pump or hydrant; people mistake it for "bomber" which is bombardero/a "a bombardier" literally
11. constipado/a is a common one. In Spanish it means "to have a cold", think "stuffed up". To be "constipated" is estreñido/a which I think of as "strained"
12. sano/a is "healthy", cuerdo/a is "sane"
13. el éxito is "success", la salida is an "exit"
14. la fábrica is a "factory", related to "fabrication"; people mistake it for "fabric" which is la tela
15. realizar means "to accomplish" or "to make a reality"; darse cuenta is "to realize" or "to have a realization"
16. Usually a librería is a "bookstore", and la biblioteca is "library"; the -ería suffix usually means "a place where something is purchased". There are places where la librería is a library but just be aware that it usually is not
17. sensible is "sensitive", and sensato/a is "sensible" or "someone with good sense"
18. la carpeta is a "folder" or something that holds documents, la alfombra is a "carpet"
19. emocionante means "exciting" or "thrilling", and emocionado/a is often "exciting", while emocional is "emotional"; qué emoción is "how exciting" or "how thrilling" sort of like a "wow" interjection or exclamation
20. la cuestión is usually "question" in the sense of "a matter for discussion or thought" or "the issue"... a usual "question" like asking someone something is often la pregunta. I can't say it's a 100% false friend, but just be aware
21. recordar is "to recall" or "to remind" or "to remember"; "to record" something is grabar
22. en absoluto trips me up every time; it means "absolutely not" or "no way", it is inherently a negative response. The idea of "absolutely" as an affirmative is por supuesto or claro or something along those lines, while "absolutely" as an adverb is absolutamente, totalmente or something like that
23. el disgusto is "displeasure" or "something unpleasant" with disgustar meaning "to cause unhappiness" or "to cause displeasure"; el asco is "disgust" and dar asco is "to disgust"
24. soportar is normally "to put up with" or "to tolerate"; to "support someone" is apoyar and as a noun el apoyo "support"
25. el preservativo is "contraception" mostly understood as "condom"; the "preservatives" in food are los conservadores
-
There are definitely others but 25 is a nice even number and these are the ones that come to mind.
Also a fun annoying thing that happens in Spanish is that SOMETIMES un billón means "billion" and sometimes it means "trillion". There's a weird issue in Spanish counting where a "billion" can also be mil millón ...it's a whole thing, I have complained about it before but it's just one of those things that Spanish doesn't agree on
There are also many MANY words that are partially false friends, or words that might mean different things in different contexts like la demanda or something like la planta which does mean "plant" but can also mean "floor/story" of a building or "bottom of the foot"
Please feel free to comment more you can think of!

I'm hanging out with a new coworker whos a aspiring writer at a bookstore tomorrow. Not a date technically, but still nervous. She's writing a fantasy series with a trans protagonist to. Since she didn't have that role model for herself growing up. I'm a casual reader unlike her. Advice on how to not be a nervous wreck?
That’s fantastic, anon! I hope the two of you have a blast together. Sadly, I’m not the best at advice of that sort because I too get nervous about so many things. I think the closest I’ve ever gotten to a revelation is acknowledging that I probably can’t not be a nervous wreck... so better to just try and treat the nerves, so to speak, rather than hoping they’ll disappear entirely. Some things I do with varying degrees of success:
Recall a similar scenario you made it through and acknowledge that you in fact did not die and the world did not end. Try to convince your brain that it will be the same outcome this time around. It’s just being stubborn and saying it won’t.
Prep for stuff. I like being in control - or at least feeling like I’ve got something like control - which for nervousness means thinking through solutions for all my stupid “What if this horrible thing does happen??” scenarios. For get-togethers it’s usually stuff like, “What if I have nothing to talk about?” Think of cool things you can ask them/bring up (their writing, what books you’ve enjoyed, etc.) “What if I have a rom-com moment and spill something all over my top?” Chuck an extra shirt into the back of the car. Stuff like that.
Nervousness is physical so if you can get some exercise, do so. Go for a walk, dance to some music, anything that gets your blood pumping. You’ll feel better after you’ve expanded that energy.
Try to distract yourself. The time between now and the actual get-together is when nervousness is at its worst (anticipation and all that), so best to find a way to pass the time rather than dwelling on it too much.
Ask friends to provide a more objective outlook. I frequently text my friends like, “HI I’M WORRIED ABOUT ___ HOW LEGIT IS THIS??” and my worry will either be #confirmed - in which we then work on figuring out a solution - or more likely I get a loving, “Not legit, dumb-dumb, and here’s why.” If you can’t listen to your own brain try listening to someone else’s.
It also never hurts to turn to those who you know can provide some excellent confidence boosts. Chat with a friend who when you go, “I’m afraid they won’t like me...” they start singing your praises at the top of their lungs
Eat chocolate. Idk what exactly it’s gonna do besides taste good, but that’s my go-to solution for everything lol
And, of course, remember that you’re going to have fun! However nervous you might be now it’s going to be well worth it come tomorrow 💜

Matchup pls? Aquarian, 5'2", black hair & brown eyes, average body type. I used to be a social butterfly but more of an introvert now, I'm also blunt & a little loud. My hobbies are reading, watching movies, sleeping, drinking coffee & playing games. I like spending time in cafes and bookstores, I also like talking to my siblings about random stuff. The only thing I dislike nowadays is being an adult, it's overrated in my opinion. Oh, and vegetables! I hate those too. Thank you! 😁
I’d match you with: Tsumugi Tsukioka
Tumblr media
➻ one; i don’t know why but while i was reading your description of yourself Tsumugi’s picture instantly popped into my mind. i feel like i kinda went with opposites attract kind of thing here. anyway, since Tsumugi is a calm and quiet guy i think he’d be extra attracted to you because you kinda remind him of Tasuku, which is a good thing in his case since it makes him feel at ease whenever you’re around. he genuinely thinks you‘re his better half and just between us, he finds your bluntness adorable, just like every other thing you have and he doesn’t mind if you get a little loud since he’s been dealing with a loud person in particular. he still can’t believe that someone like you is both his girlfriend and bestfriend and let me tell you, he couldn’t be happier.
➻ two; i think your hobbies are things that Tsumugi can enjoy too. i feel like he is the type of the guy who would want to read the same book with you and discuss it afterwards for an example. he will even go to bookstore with you and help you choose a book. he won’t forget to recommend some good stuff to you too. also i bet he can watch every kind of movie with you. romance? sure why not? heck, he will even hold your hand or let you rest your head on your shoulder, he can also stroke your hair too. horror? okay, you can even bury your head on his shoulder if you get too scared. comedy? be his guest. he will be mesmerized by your laughs. action? alright, he can get something that will get him all pumped up. you also said you like drinking coffee, right? well, it is canon that he likes visiting cafes so after a hard day of work, you both can go to your regular place and drink your favorite drinks while chatting it up. pretty relaxing, huh? although, i’m not sure if he would be good at games since he’s bad with technology but hey, you can teach him how to play them, right? i mean any excuse to spend time with you is a good excuse for Tsumugi. oh, but in exchange, you have to help him to take care of the flowers in the yard of the mankai company. he will even make you a flower crown as a thank you gift with ranunculuses, white camellias and heliotropes. we all know he is gentle and kind but not without a mischievous streak so if you don’t know their meanings, he’d ‘innocently’ smile and tell you to look them up.
➻ three; I feel like Tsumugi would love to meet with your siblings since you seem pretty close. after all, he wants to make you happy and hanging out with both your siblings and boyfriend seem pretty fun in my opinion. i don’t want to make assumptions but i think your siblings would love Tsumugi, i mean who wouldn’t? but if you don’t introduce them to him yet then he’d be happy to experience events that you can tell your siblings afterwards with you.
➻ four; Tsumugi majored in psychology in university, and is very good at reading people so if he senses that you’re having trouble with adult things he will do everything in his power to comfort and help you and will let you know that if you ever want to talk about it he’s there for you, after all his specialty is listening to people. if you go to him for advice he will give you the best he’s got but he can be timid about it, thinking he could do way better so it is your duty to thank him and be sure to let him know you appreciate every word he’s said. as for your hatred for vegetables, he knows you dislike them but he also can’t help but be concerned about your health so he will make sure you eat the enough amount of them. afterwards, he will take you out to eat sweets with him though. in conclusion, congratulations, you’re dating an angel. don’t ever let him go.

Chapter One - The Man with the Ocean Eyes
"Excuse me," a gravelly voice suddenly fills the room and Dean's pen nearly goes flying, heart pumping. It's been at least two days since anyone's even walked through those doors and being alone with his thoughts isn't exactly a new thing but for that long, it gets to be a surprise when someone says something. He keeps it under control though, doesn't look up except a quick glance at a nice pair of khakis and a deep purple jumper.
He goes back to scribbling on the piece of paper where he's supposed to be filling out a request for another truck to come and take away a few boxes of older books, bring them to a charity or a foster house somewhere.
"What can I help you with," he says, surprised that his own voice is bored considering his heart is pounding out a Jamaican beat and he's pretty sure he almost pissed his pants.
"I was just wondering if there are any books that you might recommend? I'm in the mood for reading, but not really sure what to look for," the man speaks at a low volume, as if there's anyone here to be disturbed.
Dean's intrigue is piqued though, so he pauses his doodles, knits his eyebrows together and looks up.
His eyes trace up the outline of his jumper, which wraps nicely around a narrow waist and a great chest, then leads into a white collared shirt, tan neck, a scruffy jaw that can't decide between chiseled and soft, some full lips that look like they might be chapped bit also look incredibly kissable, a straight-edge nose, and finally, two unfathomable blue eyes, shining bright as the Caribbean ocean that Dean is entirely too sure they are made of. His hair is a messy looking, bed-head-esque mop of dark chocolate brown and he smiles down at Dean as if he isn't the most attractive person Dean's ever encountered.
He's actually blown away by the fact that this man is inside a nearly failing library right now instead of out modeling a white pinstripe suit and blue tie from Men's Warehouse somewhere.
This time, Dean thinks he may actually piss his pants, but he refrains from any sort of urination onto cloth, as a mind-blowingly handsome man with some captivating blue eyes that seem to have stolen the sea is standing in front of his desk, asking about books.
He also refrains from exhibiting all of these passing thoughts on his face, because it feels like it's been a few minutes since he asked the question and the guy's probably starting to think Dean's some weirdo who can't speak under pressure.
"Library's a dying business, sir," he sits back in his chair and sets the pen down slowly. "Yeah, all the kids got their...electronic readers and...there are bookstores that sell books. Never out of stock of a specific book. Sometimes we get that; not having a specific book because all the copies got checked out...or we used to have that..."
The man stares down at him with such focus and intent, nodding along and knitting his brows together. Who is this guy?
"Nah, I mean, it's amazing that...someone wants a book so badly and loves it so much that they gotta buy it and have it forever," Dean continues, then leans forward again, grabbing a book to his left and wiggling it in the air. "Not so awesome for the library."
"That's so...intriguing...that you respect those other industries so much..." He replies, squinting, head tilting in a puppy dog manner.
Dean chuckles, setting the book down. Stares at the black cover as his smile slowly fades.
"Not much else I can do," he shrugs, shuffling through several books to find the one with the light yellow-beige cover, red outline and text reading Oliver Twist glaring up at him, and a small, square, painted picture of a boy in a hat playing at the edge of a wood sitting just above the title. "Once these places shut down, I'll inevitably drift into a bookstore, sign up to be a clerk or a stocker. 'Cause I mean," he flips the book over and opens the back page. Pulls out the name card from the pocket glued to the inside of the cover and examines it. "Yeah, a book ain't been checked out from here in three months."
He laughs and throws the book to his right, watches it skid across the table and come to a stop beside the red canvas hardcover with shiny blue letters indenting the words Of Mice and Men.
"Wow...so...I mean, how do you guys stay in business?" The guy is leaning ever forward, hands gripping the edge of the desk and arms stick straight as he balances himself over the books.
Dean smirks up at him.
"Ah," he scrubs at the back of his neck, cheeks hot, and looks away into the corner of the main entrance. "Well, charities? Mostly...and, uh, you know, school fundraisers, donations from the coffee shop down the street." He squints up at the giant skylight making up about ninety percent of the roof, thinking. "Oh, uh...this one guy. Some sorta bookwrite. Author of...damn, what are those things called...gaaahh...oh! An Angel's Lullaby!" Recognition passes over the man's face in clear abundance. "Guy's name, I'm still drawin' a blank on--"
"Chuck Shurley," the guy cuts him off but Dean is impressed. It's such an obscure book but he obviously knows it well.
"Yeah!" He points at the guy. "Yeah, yeah. You know him? I mean, his work?"
"Yeah...too well...why?"
"Ah, no...I'm just...just surprised, you know? Not a real popular selection," Dean thinks for a moment and it falls silent once more. Then: "You met him? He did a book signing here once. Not many people came, but..."
"Oh, yeah I've met him..." He doesn't elaborate, but Dean suspects it's because he just explained it for the guy, and it seems like it's making him a little uncomfortable anyway.
"Uh," he looks for something that might change the subject. "Well, to answer your first question..." He opens his mouth to continue but ends up chuckling and shaking his head. "Look, man, there's just too many books and not enough time. I've been coming to this library my entire life, probably read every single book by now. I mean, I can point you to some of my favourites, I guess, but really the only one off the top of my head and without me getting up is An Angel's Lullaby."
"Are you religious?" He asks suddenly and Dean's bewildered by the inquiry until he realises how obsessed he must seem with the book.
"Oh..." He breathes out a laugh. "Nah, that's...I'm an atheist, actually. I'm just...really into angels. Religions and...gods and deities are my thing. To be honest, I could probably list thirty Christian angels off the top of my head."
"Really," he seems impressed and Dean blushes harder. "How about...the three main archangels and...the Angel of Thursday."
Specific...and strange. But okay, he'll play along. For the sake of flirting.
"Okay...well there's Michael, the eldest son of God who was set to the task of casting Lucifer, second oldest, into hell because he claimed he could not love humanity as he loved his father. Gabriel, protector of humanity, present at the birth of Jesus Christ and the deliverer of the Holy news. And then...actually, my favourite, if I'm honest-" he looks up and watches the man's lips part, a blush crawling up his neck too, and he briefly wonders why, "-Castiel. Angel of Thursday, keeper of prayers said on that day." He smirks for a second before adding, "Always heard he was a real looker."
The man seems flustered, tugging at his jumper, pulling the v-neck away from his chest and adjusting his collar.
"Me too," he chokes out and Dean thinks it's entirely unfair how cute this man looks with a scarlet flush painting his cheeks and his hands not able to find a resting placing.
"I..." Dean starts, gazing down at his hand fiddling with the edge of a hardcover, nail scraping against the canvas. "I think I remember a few more books. Not real sure what you would like, but, uh..." He tears a corner off of the paper he was drawing on and scribbles down the titles and respective authors, then continues as he hands the list to the man. "Most of 'em are...classics...Little Women, Gone With the Wind, A Wrinkle in Time, Wuthering Heights...the original and best...version of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland."
The man smiles down at the list and then down at Dean, and Dean's heart leaps into his throat.
"Thank you," he says quietly and Dean's eyes flit down, small smile of modest pride lifting his lips.
"Don't mention it," he whispers back, gaze meeting the man's once more. Then he leans forward and takes up the pen again, waggling it between two fingers. He leans on his bent arm and says, "So, you plannin' on checkin' anything out today, sir?"
And, without blinking or missing a beat, the man replies with the most unexpected answer, letting the words drip from his lips like fuckin' honey when he replies, "Just you."
Dean is astonished at this guy's guts, but a brazen vocabulary and a cocky attitude is exactly the kind of thing that gets him going.
He opens his mouth in a shocked kind of smile, and shakes his head as if he's offended at the nerve of those words.
"I...don't even know your name," Dean says slowly, eyes twitching from the man's leg to his chest to his mouth to his eyes. When they meet, the man tilts his head with another squint, this one more challenging than curious. Amazing how he can squint in the same manner with just the slightest differences and change the entire composure of the movement.
But Dean doesn't let himself get too distracted by this ability, and soon encounters a moment of realisation.
The blushing, fidgeting, stumbling words when he talked about Castiel...
"Your name is Castiel," he whispers, astounded. "And you have three brothers." Then more realisation. "And you haven't met Chuck Shurley, you used to live with him."
Castiel pushes his lips out and looks down, scratches through the stubble on the edge of his jaw, nods.
"And I assume," Castiel says, squinting at the wooden triangle at the corner of Dean's desk and smiling, then continuing, "your name is Dean Winchester and you work as a librarian."
"Hey, I am not...a librarian," he protests playfully, grin growing on his teeth. "I am...a book obsessed...checker...outer."
Castiel laughs and Dean gives him a look for a moment before bursting out into his own fit of laughter at how utterly ridiculous that title sounds.
"I'm guessing that sounded better in your head?"
"It did," Dean nods and chucks the pen at one of the books, sitting back in his chair again and kicking his legs up onto his desk. He cranes his neck and reaches behind him, grips the back of another rolling chair, and rolls it over so it's facing him. Pats the seat and jerks his head. "Come on around." Castiel looks uncertain, sliding the torn paper into his pocket and pursing his lips, slight squint of his eyes. Dean chuckles. "Come on. I don't bite."
"Isn't that against the rules or something?" Castiel asks as he makes his way around the right side of the desk and through the opening in the side, in spite of his words.
"'Eah, mostly," Dean shrugs and pushes his lips out, then smiles. "But no one else is around, don't have any cameras, and-" he holds out a hand, "-I'm a rebel."
Castiel laughs wholeheartedly at this, grin huge and gummy - the most enchanting thing Dean's ever seen - and his head tilted back, crinkles at the corners of his eyes. Dean notices a slight dimple in his left cheek and stores that information in the back of his mind for later, when he's having a rough day.
"What," he says, though he knows Castiel is laughing at his insanely stupid joking around.
"Nothing, you're just...really...interesting--"
"Interesting meaning...lame?" He squints and adds, "Dumbass, weirdo, bad amusement--"
"Hey, I genuinely laughed at that," Castiel points a finger at him, not hiding his grin.
Dean shakes his head, looks away, licks his lips. Things settle for a moment.
Dean plays with the hem of his black t-shirt, scratches his nails over the faded denim of his jeans, examines the familiar dark splotch of oil on the knee. He would dress nicer for work, but the last time anyone even walked through the doors was 48 hours ago, and he wasn't expecting any company today, either.
"Can't believe I'm flirting with the son of my favourite author," he mutters, reaching back over the back of his chair to snatch up another pen.
Castiel scoffs playfully, and Dean catches the smirk on his face when he turns back around.
"You call that flirting," Castiel quips, unbuttoning the wrists if his collared shirt and rolling the sleeves of both the shirt and jumper up.
Dean lets his brows drop and pushes his lips out in confusion. "Well...yeah..." Dean watches Castiel stifle a smile and glance down and away. "Why, what do you call it."
Castiel peeks up through mischievous, dark lashes and swimming eyes, lips parting in a secretive smirk.
"Honestly?" He starts, shifting in his seat and sitting back, settling his hands together in his lap. "A sad but sweet attempt to impress me."
"Oh, is that so?"
Castiel nods, grin growing across his cheeks.
"And what would you consider flirting, mr. big-shot-I-know-exactly-how-to-woo-the-ladies?"
"Well, first of all," Castiel leans forward, rests an elbow against his knee, uses the armrest to balance himself, and points at Dean with raised brows, as if he's about to teach a lesson. "Sir. There's a difference between being laid back and being downright cocky. And you-" the corner of his lips twitches up very briefly, and his cyan blue eyes turn dark "-are neither."
"So what, exactly," Dean whispers, fingers a bit too loosely woven around the pen, teeth digging into his lip. "Do you propose I do about it?"
Castiel's gummy smile is printed into his teeth again and he shrugs a shoulder, bringing his lips down in an impressed bow.
"Well, that's the first step. Ask what you are instead of asking what to change. When you know, even if it's not true, even if it's only what another person sees, you can accept it."
Dean squints, leaning further back into his chair, pressing his index finger into the ballpoint, black ink tip of the pen and the other to the textured top of the cap wrapped around the end, pushing his tongue into his cheek and pursing his lips.
"Alright, fine. What am I?" Dean imposes, then grips the tip of the pen between his thumb and finger and adds, "To you. Smartass."
This earns him a short chuckle and an approving nod.
"Well...I think...you're reserved. You act like you're king shit and like you know exactly who you are, like you don't give two flying fucks about where you're headed in life, or maybe like you've already accepted it. You act comfortable with yourself, but what nerd is ever actually satisfied with their existence?" He's leaning ever-forward and Dean's cocksure smile is ever-fading, eyes becoming wide with marvel as the man-who-knows-too-much continues. "I think you're unsure. You're scared and you...you hide things that you think no one cares about. You're upset and self-deprecating. Eyes of a guilty conscience."
Dean drops his gaze, first to the floor, then to the pen, still grasped tightly by his fingers which have fallen into his lap and which fiddle vapidly with the object, nail scraping at the black polycarbonate and over the white indents that spell out the company name.
"But," Castiel starts up again, voice soft and lilting. Dean swallows hard. "I think you have a lot to give. I think you have...maybe too much to give. Too much forgiveness, too much love, too much doubt, too much strength and care. I think you are the embodiment of generosity, but you don't take what you really need in return. And I think that can get dangerous, but I also think that nothing is ever really too much." Dean's eyes flit back up in time to catch Castiel's angling downward, past Dean's chair, through the desk, through the floor, staring wistfully at something intangible. "People are greedy. And you're too willing to give."
Dean searches the man's face for any sign that this is all some sort of joke, that he's being filmed or some shit, but all he finds is truth and wisdom and knowledge, and possibly a glimmer, just a glimpse in those blue eyes, of a bittersweet past, an origin for where these words came from.
"I was right!" He exclaims as he sits back in the chair, shoulders trembling with a silent laugh. "You like to cover up your pain with gay jokes and stupid references."
"Now, that, I can't deny," Dean nods and everything falls silent. He rocks his chair gently, side to side, left to right, fingers still fidgeting with the tips of the pen, his head tilted in thought. Castiel's mouth is pulled up into a ginger smile, his eyes faraway and swimming in themselves, in the past, in glistening memories and soft-edged, slow-motion, sunny-fielded dreams. "What about you?" He asks suddenly, voice crackling and ripping through the still air as a quiet question. Castiel eyes don't move but his smile grows slightly. "I mean...what do you think of yourself."
"Not much," he replies, head lolling to the side and back, eyes catching on the impotent, pathetic little piles of books scattered about Dean's desk. "I like books. Reading. Writing. Time-consuming, arbitrary activities which include my eyes scanning words on a piece of pressed wood?" He furrows his brows and Dean throws his head back in a genuine, full laughter that he hasn't experienced in a long time.
"I can tell you write. What do you write about? Like, schmoopy romance novels? Sci-fi thrillers? Action adventure futurism?"
"And I can tell you do a lot of librarian...ing..." Castiel squints and presses his lips together in the contrite afterthought but continues, nevertheless. "I write what my dad would call 'a bunch of gay shit'." Dean cocks a brow. "Get your head out of the gutter, it's not as sexy as it sounds. For the most part. Bottom line, I'm gay, I hang out with gay people, and I wanted to dedicate my life to writing about it, about that experience. But my dad has never approved much."
"You don't say."
"Yeah...he's...more into theology. I think the one book he's ever written that really ventures into the realm of fiction, or at least dips it's toes past the line, is An Angel's Lullaby."
"Which parts are real?" Dean scratches the pen across the bumpy plastic chair arm and watches the black ink run in splotches over the grey of the polyvinyl.
"Our names, obviously," Castiel shifts again, bringing his leg down from across his knee and kicking off from the floor so he spins in a circle. Dean watches with a strangely adoring smile. "It's funny that that's the part most people think is fiction. But, no. Mom was a Jesus nut and Dad is too passive to care, so we ended up with angelic names and weird looks from sane people. The only parts that aren't completely true are the things like our address, the colours they painted our rooms, some of the dialogue that he added or got rid of in order to make the conversations more interesting or sensible - you know, just these really inane things..."
He trails off and he's staring at Dean with expectant brows, and Dean realises he's staring too, realises Castiel probably stopped because it's weird how attentive he is.
"Sorry. You're fun to listen to."
Castiel's cheeks paint themselves a thick fuchsia and his eyes drop to his empty palms resting uselessly in his lap, the lines becoming suddenly very interesting. Then they catch on his watch and widen and his head whips up.
"Well, if I'm so interesting to listen to," he leans forward, snatches the pen from Dean's hand, then takes the other hand and begins a careful scrawl across the back of it as he continues, "why don't you call me. And we can figure out a time to meet at the-" he recaps the pen and gently replaces it in Dean's hand "-coffee place down the street. But, right now, I have to go. College...and shit. Studying for a major in English takes a lot of time away from socialising."
"Sorry to keep you, I didn't--"
"No no no! It was..." His blush deepens and he stands, head down. "It was incredible to meet you. I really hope I can see you again."
"O-Of course," Dean's voice comes out stammered and soft, crackling with hope and fear and adoration, and Castiel smiles broadly.
"Great," he whispers back, then he's rushing around the side of the desk and out the front door and Dean is left to wonder if the entire exchange was even real or if his lonely, empty mind is just playing games.
When he looks at the neat, black little numbers on his hand, he realises just how real right now is.

Note
I just ordered the novel! It will be here on the 16th! I'm so pumped!
WOOHOO! I still haven’t gotten the call from my bookstore, but I’m going by after work whether I have or not. They may just not have gotten around to it, yet.
