i know that jesse armstrong is more than capable of knowing when to end a series but the way it was announced that season 4 is going to be the last one kind of made me feel like the whole process behind it is a bit sketchy. they only revealed that s4 is the last one only a month before the premiere, even after posting teaser trailers that never even hinted at the season being the last, and even the cast got the news only during the table read for the final episode. the promotion of season 4 has been disappointing especially when compared to season three. while the actors are not the ones writing the show, most of them have been very clear that they could have seen the show go on for another season and their disappointment over the show ending has been clear as day. while an ambiguous ending will be a very fitting end to succession and i am not against it, i am definitely wondering if the decision to finish with season 4 was something that developed during the filming process instead of it being a clear guideline throughout the creative process of season 4.

I'm a very big fan of the theory/headcanon that Marcus' eyebrow raise is him turning off the safety on his heat vision

I really like how it changes the context of his eyebrow moments from

it kind of gives off the idea it might be out of anxiety

because

Marcus is waterproof in canon and aluminum is resistant to corrosion

Marcus' body uses hydraulics to move and aluminum is used often in hydraulics and robotics because it's lightweight

he has heat vision and fireballs/energy spheres that come from his hands and aluminum can withstand extreme temperatures

NOT ONLY THAT, but Metal detectors need to have certain settings changed to detect aluminum over other metals, so that's why Leo's metal detector didn't detect Marcus

on that note, I like to think he's like a terminator and that he's got "living tissue over a metal endoskeleton" so his outside is flesh and blood, and the inside is all robotic

I also think that Marcus' bionic intelligence is what gives him his sentience. Like, a lot of himself comes from his programming, but I think the bionic intelligence gives him the ability to learn and adapt, and have negative emotions.

There's no way Douglas would design one of his creations to defy him, but he can't really control how Marcus uses his bionics. So that's kind of my reasoning for that plot-fix

I saw a few people mentioning the possibility of Eddie choosing to distract the bats knowing that he wouldn't make it and while I'm not saying that's true (I haven't watched the show, remember? I don't know what's going on most of the time) it does kinda make sense thinking of his character. Eddie knew that just because Vecna got defeated it didn't mean people would stop accusing him of murder. And even if they found a good cover story for him, some people will still think it was him. It would never be the same. The guy took the easy way out and painted himself as a hero in the eyes of the people he cared about. A win-win situation, right?

With that information in mind, I want you guys to remember the little moment between Dustin and Eddie- more specifically when Eddie said "I didn't run this time, right?". Following the show, yeah he didn't. He has run back then when Chrissy got cursed and then when Patrick also got cursed, but he didn't this time. BUT, if we assume that Eddie knew he wouldn't make it... we assume that it was Eddie's plan all along to die in the Upside Down...

He actually did run this time. He run away from what was going to follow. That no longer was an ask for validation of his development, it was Eddie trying to lie to Dustin and himself. He was trying to convince himself he didn't run this time. That he actually was courageous and protected Dustin from the demonbats.

But deep down he knew he has run, just like always. Because that's what he's good at, running away from problems. He died knowing that Dustin's words were a lie- that he really was no hero, only a coward.

He died for nothing. He died because he was afraid.

For something that isn't particularly angsty, I was looking something up for our favorite dorky vampire, and ended up remembering a particularly fun fact:

Old mirrors were backed with silver, which is why vampires couldn't see their reflections. Nowadays they're backed with aluminum, so a vampire's reflection would actually be visible.

However, the house on the hill is very old. I imagine the mirrors in there would still be backed with silver, so if Streber were to, say, enter the house for one reason or another, he'd have no reflection. I think that would work great for some reconnaissance or blood-sucking, wouldn't you say? :)
