I hope everyone who tries to act like emphasizing Miles blackness 'erases' his puerto rican heritage knows that that's literally not how it works in actual latino culture. In fact,it's the opposite.I'm the daughter(and son and child)of a divorced dominican couple who are a black man and a white woman and i was raised by my mom's side of the family and i CANNOT TELL YOU how many times her and the other nonblack people in my life like my teachers downplayed my blackness.I was told i'm 'not really black' because 'we're all mixed at the end of the day!' and that i look indigineous as a compliment because i look like a perfect mix of both of my parents. Not only that but that caused me to grow up almost completely disconnected from my blackness because i had no black friends either and gaining them later on in my life was incredibly healing and i love myself for being not just latina but afrolatina
Black people aren't erasing Miles latino heritage by being happy he's like us.You're erasing his AFROlatino heritage and perpetuating something that traumatized me and so many other afrolatino kids and i DEMAND you either cut out that shit out or leave the fandom. Now

Girl filters
I feel like it's helpful to know you are not alone in something and I like laughing at myself, so, long post. Like or reblog in whatever part. Or don't, I'm not Star Fleet.
Do you remember when the girl filter came out? Did one of your friends go "Oh! Here!" and awkwardly move their hand for you to pose while you try to drop what you were thinking and pose for her to take it for what feels like far to long? Because after that, hearing them go wow and say something that you can't remember and then her turning the phone to you followed by what I'd compare to trying to remember something before you blacked out?
Because that was odd, but I bet you remember seeing it and feeling strange. Somthing that you don't understand. You like it, are you attracted to yourself? No, you usually hate pictures of yourself, but it looks nice. It's a good picture. Your freind from the vauge picture memory and that freind group tell you how pretty you are as a girl. One of them is "Mad" because you'd make a hotter woman than her. And eventually you do somthing for a reason you still can't put your finger on. You share it with
The Boys
And you get them saying how fucking hot this version of you is. "This isn't something I want to keep thinking about" or "Lol you shouldn't have shown that to *name redacted* bruh" and the spectacular one from a freind of 5 years: "In another life~" Your roommate bringing it up for several days after while you were cooking dinner for everyone.
That was a weird time, right?

You were there during the aftermath of 2021. From what I get from the veterans it was hell.
Me I'm kinda new to the fandom. See,I knew about Lewis in about 2017-2018 because I was following Jourdan Dunn and Olivier Rousteing (Balmain) on Insta , and there was this Balmain campaign. So I saw him and let me be real, he looked like that typical lightskin man who is a fuckboy, party like Neymar, is toxic and will live you wahala back, front, left, right, up down and center. So it was a pass.
Then comes I think the time around may 2022 i got interested in knowing who is Lewis Hamilton. Prior to that some aesthetic blog non F1 related blog that were my mutuals and could not name one F1 driver beside him, so in my head this was already a fine fine boy.
I am going to be honest with you I'm not a Lewis fan because of F1 but because of his influence outside of F1 (things like his Tommy gig, Balmain, his appearances in celebrity events like the Met Gala). The main reason I became a fan is because he is handsome and dress well and is an A-list celebrity, so even if you think Formula 1 is a brand of baby food, you know who that man is. Plus as a Black woman I gotta support the only Black man in the sport, so.
But again I joined F1blr in 2022. And let me tell you: it was a mess. Drama everywhere, fandoms war everywhere, racism everywhere and on top of that I do not even understand how a car works! It made me feel like I was Beyoncé and Jay Z had just cheated on me: the fandom was giving me chest pain because I had to defend a 37 years old man's legacy to strangers who had babies with their fave driver in delululand.
Fortunately for me, I remembered that blocking people and filtering tags is something. So now my experience is enjoyable.
Okay so here's how it came to be for me. I was watching My next guest needs no introduction with David Letterman on Netflix in 2019. Loving it. Season 2 episode 3 was Tiffany Haddish. I was getting close to the end of the episode, so I took a peek at who's next. "Lewis Hamilton". 🤔 sounds vaguely familiar, I'm like who's that. Read the summary : "World champion Formula One driver..." I go : "aww no fuck that who cares about Formula One". But I'm nothing if not curious. I didn't know who Tiffany Haddish was either. I still watched. I still learnt. I still enjoyed. I think "whatever, if it's boring I'll skip it". It wasn't boring.
First of all same as you he got my attention because he's hot. No way around it. Second of all he got my attention because he explains F1 isn't just sitting in a car, that it's super hard, that it's an actual sport. Third of all he got my attention because he was endearing af. He talks excitedly and knows his shit. He takes David Letterman for a ride and they break a car. He makes his dad stand up from his seat in the audience so everyone can applaud him for everything he did for his son. (Gifs : 1 - 2 - 3) I'm like seriously : WHO'S THAT.
And, I repeat, I'm nothing if not curious so I think "eh, I guess I don't know shit about F1 and it's not what I thought. Maybe I should watch a race." Pour mourir moins con, comme on dit. So I look it up. When's the next race. Oh this sunday. I'm not very busy on sundays. Where can I watch it. Oh they broadcast it on national tv for free. How convenient.
I watch the race. Here I am almost 4 years later. I came for Lewis, I stayed, extremely weirdly, for the sport.

you do not have to answer this!! I'm using you to confess my dubious feelings for the Percy Jackson series bc you also expressed like some weird feelings about it, and I kind of thought the series was untouchable bc of how much everyone I see fawns over it, and I have GOT to get this off my chest to someone who might get what I'm saying. But I have major issues with the writing/premise/series bc it's just feels so deeply colonized and it's bothered me since it FIRST came out and everyone in middle school and high school was reading it and teachers were assigning it. Like the whole premise for the Greek gods being in the US is that they follow Western "progress" and it completely disregards all the amazing things Indigenous did and our way of life, and also removes the importance of place-based culture for both Greek stories and Native peoples (like okay all the Greek stuff moved to the U.S. but wth happened to all our spiritual figures?? The story completelya cts like Native people weren't here and didn't have complex beliefs and ways of life connected to the land, and the gods were just free to take over here with no issues). As a mixed Indigenous kid it just rubs me wrong in all the worst ways and the academic systems love affair with Greek and Roman stuff and Rick Riordan's sheer popularity has been forcing this stuff in my face foreveeeerrrr 😭😭 I was surprised to see your tags about the fandom being weird before too tho since I don't interact with it, so I hope you don't mind this ask and just know I kinda feel the same way!! Ok thanks bye sorry for the rant.
BRO I HAVE HAD THIS RANT ON HAND FOR A LONG TIME ITS OKAY!!!!!!!!!
I THINK IF HEARD ABOUT THIS ACTUALLY. but you explained it way better. like when i first read percy jackson ok fine i was 11, i obviously caught onto the ableism and such but i did not catch onto this until i thought about it when i got older. you're super right. the whole thing about ww2 being caused by demigods was the weirdest shit ever i literally did not remember reading it until i read lightning thief again last year. why did hitler need to be child of hades. THAT IS QUITE LITERALLY HOW PERCY DESCRIBES HADES WHEN HE SEES HIM. LOOKING LIKE HITLER. then what you're saying how they move with the places that are the most progressive and basically take over..... like it's just ..... incredibly misplaced and insensitive.
but about the fandom being weird (its literally encouraged by riordan's book tbh), in heroes of olympus, hazel is a black girl from lousiana in the 1930s?? or 40s idk anyways i think she dies and then nico brings her back. whatever, everyone draws her lightskin and with orange hair, and super skinny, (which she's from louisana. shes darkskin and does not have "caramel" hair i hate white men sometimes.) and shes like 13 btw and in a relationship with frank whos like 16. weird as hell and everyone thinks theyre so sweet. and also rick cannot write meaningful young women. and especially not girls of color. like its WEIRD how piper is portrayed as some pick me girl she constantly feels the need to express shes not like the Aphrodite girls. and rick had to make it weird with aphrodite anyway by making them a whole stereotype of snobby boys and girls who love putting on makeup. they had drew, an asian girl & counselor of aphrodite, straight up mean to piper bc she likes jason. like for no other reason. drew only wants to participate and go on the quest because of jason. and other stereotypes like making leo, latine, be super flirty.
and lets really talk about how annoying annabeth was about the blondes are dumb stereotype because, girl we can talk about misogyny and people not letting you do things because of it, but lets also talk about how you are TWELVE, and the blonde stereotype is tired. i never liked annabeth, she was really tone deaf as someone whos half black. OH AND FRANK. they had this weird ass arc where they implied he was fat because of lack of confidence? like when he got confident he, lost weight... because of a blessing of mars? i dont even know.
like as i get older its more and more annoying to see it. i literally rolled my eyes when i saw rick talking about colorblind casting when people got mad about annabeth. he could of said anything else. how this could reconceptualize annabeth's arc around misogyny and now racism. and purposely alter her character to fit this new black annabeth. but no. people treat colorblind casting as a pinnacle of progressiveness.

8 Shows to Get to Know Me
the rules seem pretty simple, just to list 8 shows to get to know me. Some people have explanations and some don't so we'll see.
I was tagged by: @wanderlust-in-my-soul @blackgirllovesdramas and @introvertedkeni
Living Single (1993)
A tightknit group of educated, successful, and sex positive black people???? I don't think I need to say more. I've watched this series so many times and it never gets old and I never stop relating to it.
Tumblr media
A Different World (1987)
Sometimes I really regret not going to an HBCU, I feel like I missed out on a positive black experience so I rewatch A Different World ALOT and pretend I'm there.
Tumblr media
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990)
A lot of black sitcom classics shaped me into the person I am today. That series was and still is a vibe...but please believe that series fell off a bit when the replaced Darkskin Aunt Viv with the Lightskin one. Anways Hilary is a fashion icon and has somehow become my favorite character. She was the it girl for me (Ashley too).
Tumblr media
Sleepy Hollow (2013)
I was just there for Abbie Mills. She was the first black character I've ever seen starring in a Supernatural series. Honestly...I fucks with Jenny Mills and Captain Irving too. Black folks as mains in a supernatural show was just so amazing to me. I watched this series religiously...until they killed Abbie off. Too bad racism ruined such a thrilling series.
Tumblr media
Shadowhunters (2016)
I will be real...I couldn't STAND Clary or Jace or Clary's mother...like at all BUT I loved everything else about the series. Malec was literally the only ship I was invested in (and Maia when she was with Simon but Simon didn't deserve her oh and maybe Izzy and Raphael) and the everyone casted to play the main Downworlders were BEAUTIFUL. It was just the right amounts of diversity, lgbtq, and fantasy for me at the time.
Tumblr media
Takumi-kun Series (2007)
This movie series was one of my first intros to BL and my gawd does it hold a special place for me. The series is low budget af but the actual story behind the main character literally rips me to shreds everytime. Takumi deserved better.
Tumblr media
Love in the Air (2022)
I don't think I need to explain this one. I love them and this series and it was my whole personality for a hot minute.
Tumblr media
Bed Friend (2023)
My new personality for at least the next 6 months.

weekend vent dumps #2
Goodness gracious, this week has been long. Right now, I'm doing a dumb project for bio. Hot Tip: DONT TAKE HONORS BIOLOGY. The only thing that has me going is anime and TikTok.
But, while I'm at it. I want to talk about the dangers of TikTok. Especially with teenagers on it. Recently, I gave a friend (more like an acquaintance) a picture of me. Since they wanted to do this trend where they do "friends we shouldn't take for granted". Now I want to talk about how fake people can be.
Now as you can see, this friend is a sophomore. I only knew this kid since the beginning of the year and now we're "friends". I don't mind being friends with the kid, but if you're using my money and ask me if the Little Mermaid should be black seems to be a stretch.
I could be over exaggerating but this kid seems to want to get the best from me and I don't get anything back. I wouldn't have a problem if you, payed me back, or not have asked me such racist questions (if you're wondering, yes they're white). I don't want to seem harsh but just don't do such things.
Now about TikTok. Apparently people can photoshop their bodies in videos. wtf.
It's hard, day by day, to find someone that is real. TikTok is turning into Instagram slowly (THATS A LIE) and we're soon going to believe that BBLs actually look good again (RIP asian doll).
Anyways, as a young person who's is soon going to vote in 2024, can we please have an argument that social media should not have filters. We seriously have filters that make your skin lighter (DO BETTER TIKTOK, but at the same time, me being a lightskin looks funny).
Now this post seems to be everywhere, so I hope it's not too confusing. Imma finish my project now.

Why do you watch and support the dsmp when it’s full of racists, anti semetists and transphobia? Why does supporting and listening to poc, Jewish and trans people matter so little to you?
I'm not going to be discussing at length any individual cases/arguments about racist, transphobic, or anti-Semitic beliefs possibly held by Dream SMP CCs. Instead, this post will center on the absolute reach this Anon is making with their generalizing claim of bigotry against the cast and me. If you want threads about what the CCs have done wrong or a catalog of why they should be canceled, you'll find them in designated critical!tags. Idk why Anon decided to choose a daily clips and memes page who has made 2 total posts tagged "discourse" to vent to so?? you're not gonna get essay length debating like this again lmao (Keyword: Essay. This is a long post! Filter that tag if you don't want to see this.)
I genuinely have a dozen counter-arguments I could give for this intentionally provocative ask, but I'm certain drama-centric Dream SMP blogs have already worded those exact arguments with far more eloquent pathos than I could muster. So, I'm going to completely deviate from the response you want me to give, and instead be laying out an issue I have with this ask that people tend not to approach anon asks with
Give me a real human who is politically correct at all times. Sincerely, could you? Or would you never be able to, because no matter how educated, experienced, and empathetic a person is, they make mistakes? Try and name a show, a movie, a book - any piece of mainstream media! - that is truly, truly PC. You couldn't, because mass media is created by writers/producers/directors who consciously and unconsciously hold discriminatory beliefs reinforced by the society we live. That implicit bias exists in everything they produce.
We're influenced by our surroundings, as you should be well aware, and culture IRL is far removed from the highly sanitized/filtered/curated feed you'll find on Tumblr. Racist, transphobic, anti-Semitic, and all around bigoted views are firmly rooted in our governments, our mentalities, and apparently to your ignorance, our pop culture. Since so many forms of hatred are still legal, defended, and advocated for by those in political power, no entertainment will escape those traces of bigotry you're frustrated with the Dream SMP for having.
And so you classify the cast as "full of racists, anti-Semites, and transphobia", and condemn me for "supporting" them, while I would argue it's a piece of media that tries it's hardest to be the opposite. I have no doubt bigotry will crop up with the sheer depth intolerance is baked into societal constructs, but there's only a few fandoms I have found as intolerant to discrimination as this one. It's astoundingly diverse, with more canon representation in its characters than I’ve seen in...the majority of media outside of fanon interpretations. (Admittedly, Tumblr has calmed down as a platform in recent years, so maybe you've seen horrific supporters directly influenced by DSMP CCs in other places. But then I'd have to ask why you've come to a Tumblr blog to guilt trip about what appears to be largely unfounded claims of major discrimination in the cast.)
The DSMP is produced by a group of random Twitch content creators, which means it is being acted out with millions of eyes analyzing these flawed young adults and teens trying their best to be entertaining live. However, having a platform doesn't automatically give a CC the time and mental fortitude to instantly be sensitive to every social issue. So yes, I think there are instances when a CC makes bigoted comments or jokes by sheer virtue of being young and only so educated, but there's a grand total of 1 who habitually acts in a way that could match your description, and he was killed off very early on. Beyond that, it's noticeably uncommon for "problematic" conduct to occur compared to what you'd expect from Twitch/YouTube gaming culture. When anything actually offensive arises - as in actually a problematic stereotype/misconception and not just fake evidence made by antis - it's 60% a one off bad taste joke 40% addressing a tweet from 2017 with a shit take, and both are followed by educational threads trending on Twitter to explicitly teach the CC on that topic. So yes, the DSMP are not perfect, never will be perfect, but they're certainly not consistently pushing racist, transphobic, or anti-Semitic narratives. Edgy jokes resurfacing from the awful period of humor that was 2010s? It's happened, and every time that creator has owned up to it and made clear that was their shitty high school humor that they've long grown out of. (Because yes, people can change and grow from their past selves.) But actual bigoted beliefs being held or campaigned for - even subtly - by any DSMP creator? Nope.
In essence, you've asked why I would support content made by flawed individuals who aren't PC, but every avenue of entertainment is made by flawed individuals who are fundamentally less PC than the DSMP's distinguishing progressive storytelling, bc others have to answer to corporate TV studios and movie direction teams that are 99% old Hollywood white guys. All entertainment reflects society's institutional prejudices. This makes me ask, how much vitriol do you hold for the mainstream media that truly is harmful and controversial in the way that the DSMP painfully isn't? If you would have me blog about another topic, what alternative could you suggest that genuinely is more inclusive to the discriminated people you're trying to champion for? What CW show or anime you're on Tumblr for isn't being produced by actual bigots behind the scenes, unaccountable in a way the live streamers on the DSMP have no way of replicating? When you consider the largely sanitized, teen-friendly, and open content of the DSMP so harsh and disgusting, what pieces of media are left for you?
So, I'm not entirely sure what parts of the SMP you consider so egregious that you would label it's entire cast to the severity you did. The CCs have made mistakes, but they also are committed to improving themselves. I understand the doubt you would have for the integrity of a field dominated by college-age white cishet guys. They have the least incentive to care about social issues, yes, but this fandom is notorious for being PC - to an overt degree even. That's not always good either, but it does mean that when a CC is remotely intolerant, their own fan base will call that shit out. Surprisingly, young adults/teens who haven't even hit their late twenties are open to education on issues important to their fans? When compared to big name shows or million dollar franchises, you'll realize that this audience can directly reach out and inform the creators on significant campaigns and political causes. I watch and blog about what I do because this fandom has curated a culture within the media we watch, and the plot drives some very significant parts of itself off what we find interesting and consider okay. The creators actually care, consume, and listen to our critiques and ideas, including them into the story they make - can you say that about any other media?
Finally, I'll address that last line of your ask. Taking into account that this is a clips and memes blog...what are you basing your assumptions on? Reading my Minecraft Roleplay quotes will, shockingly, not tell you much about what intersectional issues I care about, listen to, and experience daily??? Your ask gives me such grief because you've made a sweeping claim while failing to consider that 1: I might be a member of some of those groups and 2: that my political advocacy is done IRL - not on Fandom Tumblr. I can excuse the 1st one at least; you've no real way to know I'm not white or cis, and even then, being part of a group doesn't mean you have no internalized hatred towards it. However, the 2nd point is....one of the worst points you could have sent in an ask to me, specifically. I'd say that listening to, learning from, and supporting marginalized groups is actually something that matters a great deal to me. That's why I've had meetings with my State Representatives to lobby against discriminatory bills for the past 3 years. I've gone twice in person, and this legislative session over Zoom, since my activism group wasn't able to meet with them inside the Capitol Complex.
Overall, I have volunteered over 200 service hours educating my peers on Mental Health, Reproductive Justice, LGBTQ+ Issues, etc. and plan to continue my advocacy in higher schooling. If you're American and do want to help combat racism, transphobia, and antisemitism IRL, educate yourself on the House/Senate Bills moving forward in your State's legislative session this year. Learning about Trojan Horse legislation that can set up legal precedence for further harm to marginalized groups is infinitely more productive than starting an argument with a high schooler’s Minecraft blog. Saving yourself from the stress of awful roleplay is easy too! If you hate seeing my type of posts on your feed, block the tags you see under my other posts, and then block me. Anon, I'm just hoping you understand that sending holier-than-thou fandom discourse to kids on Tumblr is not the social justice move you think it is.
Extra in tags:
#these tags are just clarification on personal context so feel free to ignore#i could have argued with this ask in a lot of ways - but at the end of the day - i'm not a drama blog#i don't have receipts on the PC of each CC or clip threads bookmarked. i make clips and headcanons about their characters.#so i decided to argue what i do sorta-know. that being: the validity of calling the CCs racist transphobic antisemites#namely how INCREDIBLE of a reach that is - along with what a reach it is to say i'm deaf to such social prejudices considering what i do IR#please direct CC callouts and discourse to drama centric debating blogs in the critical! tags not me :thumbs up:#i won't talk to much about my advocacy bc. y'know. this is the internet. but my volunteering is with PP.#my work revolves around Reproductive Justice and EVERYTHING that entails. reproductive rights is different and far less encompassing -#- so that's why i made the distinction. (look up Reproductive Justice to know exactly the lengths it goes to)#moving on! followers of mine might remember me making a joke about being safe from questioning my gender and being confident in she/her#...god i was so fucking dumb. yall remember that bi meme? the one a bunch of bi people related to which was like#'thank goodness i figured out i'm bi! finally i'm done questioning now that i've figured my sexuality-' then BOOM. gender questioning hits!#well MY cocky ass was like 'hah! i don't even know if i'm bi or pan or demi or whatever! how on earth could i start questioning by gender -#- when i don't even know my sexuality yet! surely i have a few years. surely.'#yea nope. don't even know if i'm bi when i got hit with the ole gender fuckery. finally took my pronouns out awhile ago while i decide#you might be saying 'lyka! wdym ur a poc? haven't you made jokes about being painfully white before?'#thats bc im a lightskin latino! i got my color from my dad but me and him look nothing like our relatives - they're all much darker.#ethnically? 100% POC. but race? complicated. latin america views race differently to the states so while i say i'm white most of the time -#my mother and my fathers parents are all considered mestizo. ooc.     i’m gonna say a short rant in regards to bg3. please feel free to ignore this, it’s just my personal little pet peeve. but i’ve seen a hell lot of drow ocs from the game and i believe once the game actually comes out there will be more and while i am of the firm opinion that people can do whatever the fuck they want (especially in a game without hurting others), i really wish there wouldn’t be as much lightskinned drow as there already are.

yall...there's a difference between a racisT subplot and a racisM subplot in S&B.
obviously the show isn't out yet so all we have to go on are the interviews (icymi, Alina and Mal face racism from other characters for being mixed race in the show, instances include being called racist slurs and Ravka having ugly caricatures of the Shu on their war posters).
it's one thing to be upset that the show decided to involve a subplot where the main characters face racism - sometimes we just want a character of colour to like, Exist™ in a fantasy show like it's no big deal; that should be normalized. i don't want to hear slurs or see racial violence being flung left and right in a show i want to watch for fun either (though it's worth it to bring up that early reactions have said the racism is treated very well in the show; not heavy handed but present enough to matter).
it's another thing completely to accuse the show of being racist for wanting to include this subplot. eric heisserer and leigh bardugo have made it clear this was a discussion that happened with the writers, many of whom ARE mixed raced, who felt like alina being mixed race would add an extra depth to her character and her struggles of finding a place to fit in.
Alina facing racism...isn't the same as the subplot itself being racist? (i keep saying 'subplot' but really it's a part of her whole character arc). a racist subplot would be what happened on S*nse8 (censored not because i hate the show but because i don't want to put negativity in their tag), where the East Asian, African, and Indian main characters had very stereotypical personal subplots while the white characters got to have more varied, inventive ones. (this improved as the show went on, but doesn't negate that fact it did happen.)
from what we know so far, the racism Alina faces does affect her character, but it isn't the sole defining feature. it's just a part of what pushes her along her bigger arc towards finding her power and her place.
there's a difference in "the show is racist towards its characters" and "other characters are racist towards them (and it being shown as a bad thing)" and i feel like i'm seeing more people claiming it's the former rather than the latter.
PLEASE feel free to discuss with me and tell me if i misunderstood anything. if i'm wrong about this, i'll happily eat my words and call the show out. but right now i don't think it's justified to straight up call the show racist for having this subplot.
