Something that fucks me up about Jopson’s laudanum monologue is how uncharacteristically smiley he is throughout. He never does that again, that often, show that much teeth. And it’s very clearly in a “it’s okay, this is a dark story but I can tell it in a cheery manner Captain all will be well” and it hits because fuck if I don’t know people who retell traumatic stories as if they were a laugh because otherwise it would mean admitting how bad it cut.

What if Percy's fatal flaw does eventually kill him, but not because he was protecting someone to the point of not caring for himself, but because he refused to give up the empathy link with Grover when he was thirteen to know if Grover ever needs him again and then Grover dies and Percy dies with him.

It's always "Suicide is selfish." and never "Taking your own life. Interesting expression, taking it from who? Once it's over, it's not you who'll miss it. Your own death is something that happens to everybody else. Your life is not your own, keep your hands off it. "

When they Met | Nonviolent Communication
(I'm totally fine about this; if you haven't read part 13 yet, there's a spoiler, so be warned)
Thinking about how Miguel and reader were introduced to each other by Jess on a random day to get her approved into the Spider Society.
To Miguel, this was another member joining the society who seemed too happy. He didn't know why she had been alone for years in her universe nor about losing her Peter.
To reader, Miguel seemed distant and too serious. She saw a man who buried himself in work. They had no idea what had happened regarding Gabriella and his wife until after being taken in by the spider gang. They also didn't know about his past before the society and the multiverse like everyone else.
And now, almost 2 years later, they know things about each other that others don't. They trust and care for the other so much, and they've officially admitted they're best friends!!!! Neither knew what they would mean to each other on that first day-

It is poetic cinema that at the start of the series we see that a blind man is dependable to the caretaker, that the purpose of hiring the caretaker is to guide the blind man in daily lives with hope until he is able to take care of himself without help. But by the end of the series, we see that the caretaker is actually dependent of the blind man, of love, of assurance, of being seen. Even maybe to help him feeling less guilty of his sister's death. Aof's art in story telling is one I will religiously follow forever.
