My top 15 kpop albums of 2023

It's been a year since I posted something. At this point, I feel I'm only writting to keep a record for myself of my favorites of the year. Still, if anyone cares to read this, know I've posted my favorite korean music and dramas of the year every year since 2016. First up, my favorite albums of 2023.

15. Heize-Last winter. I've honestly been in a Heize break for almost two years because I felt her songs started to sound too much alike but this album got me excited for her music once again. It has bearly been a week since it came out so I did hesitate including it but I think it portrays my favorite style of hers so at the end I was like "yeah, it deserves a spot". Forget me not feauturing BIG NAUGHTY's beautiful vocals is my favorite song of the album. However her title, a collab with 10 cm, is a close second. Picnic of the Night gives us a more uptempo beat and Chan's sweet vocals are so relaxing. I think I will be listening this album a lot in the next few months.

14. PENOMECO-Rorschach (Part 1). Ever since Penomeco entered my radar I have loved pretty much everything he has released. I do prefer his more chill music but this year he brought us more of his hip hop side and released two mini albums called Rorschach, both could have easily made my list but I think at the end of the day I like the album he released in april a bit more, and he does have two songs with Zico in this one, which did tip the balance for me. As I said, I do like his more layback music so my favorite song is Margiela feauturing Paul Blanco. The album starts with strong beats with Boy Pablo (2019) and stays on track with his title song Rindaman feauturing Zico. His other collab with Zico: Pew! is also a fiery song. As is Bubble. He slows down for his other three songs and they all are such a great listen.

13. TREASURE-Reboot. I think TREASURE has had really bad luck, from their delayed debut to the ups and downs lately. The thing is I've always prefered those groups I actually feel excited to listen to their whole albums and TREASURE has really delivered in all of them as far as I'm concerned. People keep saying YG is holding them back by making them have the typical YG songs like BONA BONA or STUPID on this album but since I'm a fan of those kind of songs so I really look forward to it. However it was the songs by their subunits I actually liked the most MOVE is just such an exciting song and THE WAY TO by the vocal unit is just my kind of ballad. To be fair listening to Jungwoo and Jihoon sing is such highlight for me on all of their songs. I just love their tones.

12. Taeyeon-To. X. 2023 was a year where I really got into Taeyeon's discography. So I was really excited for this comeback. The title To. X is a fun midtempo break up song. I would have liked Melt Away more as the title but I did love both songs. This is also a recent release so I moved it up and down in my list a lot. I'm also having a hard time picking a favorite song. I also enjoy listening to Fabolous with the quorky beat and witty lyrics but I think I actually liked all the tracks equally.

11. VIXX-CONTINUUM. VIXX has changed a lot over the last few years but somehow this album with only Leo, Ken and Hyuk sounds very much like VIXX used to sound in 2015. They really stand on their own and all of their voices are amazing. However I've always had a soft spot for Leo and his vocals in Lilac are just heavenly. Probably why I love that ballad so much. I was actually surprised with Hyuk's low vocals that give a needed twist to Leo and Ken's power vocals. All five songs in this mini album are so good. The title is Amnesia and the MV aesthetic is obviously inspired by the movie Dune.

10. NCT DOJAEJUNG-Perfume. This release kind of blind sighted me. I never thought Doyoung, Jaehyun and Jungwoo would come together in a subunit so in that sense they reminded me of the time I heard EXO CBX was debuting. I really love the title Perfume. It's one of those rare times the title is actually my favorite song of the album. I thought they would do a ballad for their title but the fact it was an upbeat sexy song was unexpectedly right. Doyoung is my favorite NCT vocalist so listening to him this whole album was such a joy. Jaehyun's vocals can be a bit overlooked in NCT127 just because Douyoung and Taeil are so amazing. Listening to him have more time in this album to shine was exactly what I wanted. I love Jungwoo's personality and honestly I was afraid he would get a bit lost in this album but my worries were unnecessary. Often I found his low notes were that little bit of spice the songs needed in this album. I loved all the bsides but Dive and Strawberry Sunday were specially a fun listen. And of course they had to do a traditional SM ballad (Ordinary) which is just beautiful.

9. D.O.- Expectation. I'll never stop wishing for EXO's Kyungsoo to do an r&b album but his heart is in easy listening heartfelt songs so I can't complain. I'm just happy to get anything from him as a solo artist. This mini album has so many pretty songs. I do is my favorite hands down and one of my most played songs of the year but Lost (both the acoustic and the regular version) is such a fun song to listen to and could have easily become the title. The vocals and the melody are so powerful. Ordinary days and The view also have a fun melody. The title Somebody is really catchy and the MV is so sweet.

8. TXT- The name chapter: Freefall. I have to confess I haven't gotten into TXT's content. I just came to like them gradually in the last couple of years and there was so much to catch up on that I haven't really get to know the members at all but the albums are a different story. Deep down is my favorite of the album but Happily Ever After is also a highlight. The title Chasing the Feeling gave us a fun retro beat and the chorus was really addicting. I also found Skipping Stones to be an interesting song. Love the guitar and bass on that one and the vocals by Beomgyu, Taehyun and Huaningkai are just heavenly. And of course the collab with The Jonas Brothers was a bit unexpected yet exactly what I didn't know I wanted.

7. Zion.T-Zip. This was almost out of my list because I just listened to it a week ago, but I had to add it. Zion. T is just so unique and entertaining to listen to. His collab with AKMU called V is my favorite. But as expected, this is a no skip songs with great use of instruments, beats, vocals and occasional rapping. He even released three MVs for this comeback (Stranger, V and Unlove). The album is 10 tracks long yet only sums up 26 minutes. Thank u featuring Yun Seokcheol is also a highlight.

6. V-Layover. To be honest, I was not excited for V's solo stuff. I was expecting a lot from Jungkook and Jimin but not from him. I don't know why. So it was so surprising when I actually wasn't excited with the songs they released but I really loved V's album. It's my fault really because I do tend to overlook Taehyun's vocals when listening to BTS. The sound he went for it's exactly my kind of music. Layover just feels sophisticated. Blue is definitely my go to song with its fancy r&b sound and Love me again has my favorite beat of the album. Slow Dancing is so sweet and For us takes you in a journey. The album is only 5 songs but from the first listen I knew it would make my top 10 of the year.

5. NCT 127-Fact Check. For me, this is the first NCT127 no skip album. I liked LIMITLESS a lot but even that one has a couple of songs that are just not for me. NCT 127's titles are either a huge hit with me or they rub me off, this time around I found Fact Check so addicting. I love Space's melody but Misty is my favorite overall. Everyone's vocals are on point but Taeil is such a wonder to listen to on that one. Love is a beauty is also a great ballad. Parade might be a hiphop heavy song but Doyoung's beautiful vocals really stand out to me. And Angel Eyes gave me a bit of NCT U's With you vibes. I love Mark's parts in Je ne sais quoi then again everyone sounds so good in that song.

4. Taeyang-Down to Earth. Taeyang came back with a bang. Every song on the album feels so big. I wasn't a fan of the title VIBE featuring BTS's Jimin on the first listen, but it really grew on me. The chorus just pops in my head from time to time out of nowhere. Shoong featuring Blackpink's Lisa is amazing, and the performance video is crazy good. Seed is the power ballad of the album. Nightfall featuring Bryan Chase is also a highlight with its retro pop beat and beautiful vocals.

3. Taemin-Guilty. The void Taemin left while he was in the military could not really be fulled by anyone else. He's just different. And yes, a lot of it is the performance but the music always comes first. This album is only six songs but they all are so good. Not gonna lie, the first time I heard The Rizzness I was confused because the strong beat and rapping surprised me. I didn't know if I liked it but it really grew on me after hearing it a couple of times. I'm obsessed with She loves me she loves me not and its playful melody plus it's definitely my most played track of the album. Not over you and Blue takes us in a dreamlike journey.

2. Red Velvet-Chill Kill. I was surprised to realize this is the only album from a girlgroup I liked this year. I even forced myself to listen to some albums of the most popular girlgroups right now but it's just not my kind of music. However this album is straight up my alley. A Velvet R&B album. I hadn't enjoyed a Red Velvet album so much since The Perfect Red Velvet. My favorite Red Velvet comebacks are always the one with a creepy twist so Chill Kill was on point with that strong beat paired with a sweet chorus. Knock knock (who's there) is a seemless follow up to Chill Kill. Underwater is one of my favorites for sure but these days I keep going back to Nightmare. Iced coffee and One Kiss have catchy chorus while Wings is uplifting with beautiful vocals.

1. EXO-EXIST. My Spotify Wrapped top 5 songs belong all to this album. It's actually the first time it happens. Despite me being an EXO-L, some pop or indie songs are usually in the mix, but I guess I missed EXO. They just did all the things I love in an EXO album: r&b, beautiful harmonies, and fun beats. I keep changing my favorite song of the album. At first, it was Regret it just because the production is so great. Then I was like, actually, all the falsetto and runs in Cinderella makes it my favorite. Yet I kept feeling No makeup was the perfect r&b EXO song, so I thought: that one for sure! But of course, the title Cream Soda is so catchy, and the chorus is expectacular, so obviously, that's the one. Nevertheless, Love fool is so much fun to listen to, and I do love Sehun and Chanyeol's verses in Another Day. Then why is my most played song of the year Let me In? And what about Hear me out that makes me happy every time I listen to it? Don't even get me started on Private Party's lyrics! Anyway, you get the idea, so just do yourself a favor and check out this album.

So, once again, I am still alive.

The long and the short of it is that I got laid off near the beginning of September and it was a rough few months until near the end of November. I am back to working and everything has settled, but I haven't really been able to find the time or motivation to write like I used to. Like when I was honest before, the lack of interaction tends to make me not want to write and the decline has been severe. I still want to interact with you all. I am beyond excited that Baekhyun will be back by the beginning of February and soon after we'll have an exo comeback. But I honestly don't know if I'll get motivation to finish any stories or post any new ones. I hope that isn't a huge disappointment to everyone who has been waiting. I'm grateful that you've stuck around. I was about 21 when I started this blog and its been fun. But now priorities are different and some of the people I used to be close to have moved on. I still very much have friends on here, so I hope I didn't just hurt someone's feelings, I just feel the need to be completely honest. I hope to be around more, but I'm not sure about the frequency. Right now, it's all up in the air.

i honestly don't know how to feel about this comeback because.... i want an exo comeback soooo bad (preferably ot9.... but that's probably wishful thinking), but at the same time i am so sick and tired of sm mistreating exo... i kinda feel like they'll use this to milk them even drier and.. ugh.

regardless, even if they're fist fighting the sm execs in the background, i'm sure the exo members are gonna give us a great performance as usual

Ahh 2016 must have been such an exciting time to get into Exo!! I've only been an exol for a couple years- I would have loved to have been around for Monster and CBX comebacks.

I've also been on a kick of watching Overdose stages lately-- so good!

Yes Junmyeon was my guess! Our lovely leader. He's been up to so much recently! Have you been watching his drama (I haven't yet!) I know this is a tough question but do you have a few favorite Junmyeon moments?

I got into kpop through a couple friends at the beginning of 2020, and then a few months later I saw some interviews with Baekhyun and then it was all over for me haha. He's been my bias from the beginning.

Cream Soda was my first Exo comeback with stages so it was definitely my favorite comeback this year too! But I also love any SHINee comeback (who's your SHINee bias?) and I ADORE Kyungsoo's new album. Exo is probably my #1 right now but I also follow SHINee, WayV, Pentagon and a few others.

Fall is my favorite season! You? It's both cozy and spooky- my favorite things. Talk to you soon! <3

We seem to have pretty similar tastes then! Hii, I was wondering what your thoughts are on zb1? I’ve watched quite a few survival shows (unit, i-land, &audition, boys planet, fantasy boys) but the only one I watched as it was actually happening was boys planet and I feel like that’s what led me to pay closer attention to zb1. I wasn’t expecting this but they are now one of my favourite groups. I think Taerae is my favourite, he’s like a cute, awkward grandpa and he has a beautiful smile and dimples. His dimples >>. He really caught my eye in a cover of man in love by infinite on bp and he was also on masked singer recently. As someone who is pan, I feel quite comfortable with this group too. Multiple of them seem like they’d be quite supportive and open minded. They are quite 💅Have you seen any of the jokes/iconic moments like Ricky being young and rich or Hanbin mothering? Sometimes Yujin makes me sad tho. One of the mentors on bp kept expressing how much she liked him (in a crush way) and repeatedly asked him to say “I love you, noona”. It was a bit funny at first but it happened so many times that it became creepy. Yk how sometimes an idol says or does something and it keeps getting brought up again and again and it sort of gets integrated into their persona or it becomes their Thing. I don’t want Yujin’s thing to be that. I’m only a few months older than him, we’d be in the same school year, and I think I wouldn’t like to be in that situation. At the moment, it doesn’t seem to be bad though. Aside from that, I’m really excited to see how things work out for them. Also, what groups do you stan(apart from nct and skz) or used to stan?

Oh well I've never seen any of the survival shows, honestly not even stray kids. I actually only really watch like content inside of NCT and Stray Kids YouTube channels even then I'm super behind. I'm sorry I can't provide any insight for you, my taste in media is really weird and a lot of survival shows, dramas, movies even variety shows just don't fall into that. Even then I only really watch personal kpop group vlogs like JCC, and stray kids personal day vlogs and I loved wayv's Disney vlog Winwin was so cute. And their camping vlogs. So like chill non stressful content is my thing. Sorry, but I've seen Ricky from boys planet just around. He seems like a sweet boy.

Other than NCT and skz I Stan Exo, TXT, Blackpink,P1harmony and Ateez.

I used to Stan Teen Top, Ukiss, B1A4, Snsd, 4 minute, 2ne1, Sistar, B.A.P and Secret pretty much all of them have disbanded or are just inactive but Ukiss did an anniversary comeback. Also SHINee is a limbo group where i will always love them but it's just hard to listen to them still. I'm very much a 2nd\3rd gen kpop fan

And I accidentally fell into Twice, I saw a video of Jeongyeon push a member out of the way to wave to the camera a few months ago and fell in love with her and I have just been falling into them more and more slowly but surely.

I'm very excited for jongdae to be officially discharged but I will honestly be surprised if we get any public updates from him right off the bat 🥲

so far the other exos had a discharge live or some kind of welcome back photo to at least commemorate that they returned...like I'm honestly skeptical we might even get that for him. I hope we do at the bare minimum, then he can continue to lie low for a bit until he decides to return to music.

I would love a comeback for him but maybe a solo comeback might be too far fetched. at least something like an ost or sm station would be nice. idk I just don't trust this fandom & how they might act now that's he's no longer protected under the guise of "civilian".

Slightly Long post ahead!

Before we can throw a celebration for that, what is this 'we warned you' thing by the 97-liners? I mean, what did they see or know that made JiYong get a warning label? Or was it just their age gap? I mean, GD is well-respected by them, Bam and if I'm not wrong JungKook too, became an idol because of GD.. I get it if I'm looking deeper than necessary but whatever, this is the glue I needed to mend my heart and jump on another somi ship!

Now, I'm gonna pretend that I was always a JK and Somi shipper and that GD and Somi never happened! I can't wait for how things are gonna go from now on. Oh my God! I can already feel myself getting over-excited!

Anyways, great update! I caught up on your blame update too and I honestly understand where Somi is coming from, hell I was young and it took me a few days of properly getting to know the situation, that is whatever exo-ls know about the boys leaving- to get my head around and say that I accept their decision. I felt hurt and betrayed too initially but a few days of knowing the bullshit they went through and understanding where they might've come from, I felt better. I had accepted their decision within a few weeks after their departure, but their interactions afterwards adding to all the drama that happened over the years to the recent reunion of the members in that chinese show, things are going so much better! And I totally understand what a young Somi might be going through... Like we all have people who were so close to us at one point but no longer exist in our life and that's okay! That's normal human stuff. I would love for all the ot12 members to get back together and have a good time but at the same time, I understand if they don't want to. I'm sure we all can relate to such an weird space in our lives!

And with the some boys away now, I hope things will be better when everything goes back to normal. Also, a list of post-military things I want, includes proper comebacks and promotions, Chen in rots and etc. (You know what that means? More JK and Somi dates!) I'm ranting but I hope that makes it up for the lack of interaction on my side for the past few weeks! Life's been especially shitty to me these days! I'll see you soon, take care! - 🍁

for the 'we warned you' thingy, it was just because everything happened so fast. I think that, as we have a space between the posts we don't get the period of everything, but the things with somi and gd were too fast: they met, started dating, released a song, went on awards ceremonies together... and, the boys, being her friends, obviously warned her about it. that's all.

about the 'blame' post: one thing I try to let very clear is how much the boys (luhan, tao and kris) leaving and the other boys enlisting affects her. like, she literally grew up with them! she joined sm in 2008 (the same year xiumin, lay, chanyeol and sehun got in), and since then, her happiest memories are with her members. she was just 17 when kris left, so it was all new and intense, but, somehow, being the awesome and brilliant human she is, she understood their reasons and simply... respected them.

for the enlisted members, the poor girl suffers a lot - sehun would even joke about it saying that she cries more than their parents. when junmyeon enlisted was probably when it was the hardest for her and she literally dreams about the day they will be on stage as 10 again.

now, last but not least, our it couple, the show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique: SOMI AND JK!!!! guys, you have no idea how much I struggled for finding her bf 🥶 at first it was yugyeom, then I changed it to dokyeom, then I came back to yugyeom, then jungkook, then yugyeom again, and, finally, jungkook. honestly saying (if you're a delusional ARMY, do not read the following things), I was kinda afraid to put him and portrait him in a way his fans wouldn't like. but then I was just like 'fuck it' and made it anyway :P but yeah, I hope I can show you a lot of them (jokes, fights, dates) and that you'll enjoy it!

Okay, so here are our boys in order of age. I decided to wait and read people's opinions on here, Twitter, and other various websites. I am very excited for this unit, but all I'm seeing negativity coming from fans. I understand a lot of the points based on how SM functions when promoting their groups, however, I feel people aren't thinking through the whole thing, so I want to make some bullets based off of the comments I've read online.

Suho already said (more than once) EXO will have a comeback towards the end half of this year.

A lot of people who are upset are solo stans (mostly EXO-Ls) and/or people who only want the members in their specific groups... idk what to tell you, it happens. Just stan your group?

Even if Lay comes for EXO comebacks throughout the coming years, we won't have OT9 until everyone is back from the army (about 6 or 7 years from now).

Taeyong, Ten, Lucas, and Mark interacting together is the first/closest we've gotten to having NCT all together since WayV debuted.

Yes, this is about making money, SM is a business.

This group is not 'a whole new boy group', it's a unit based off of existing groups, no one is leaving their groups or anything like that. (This mostly a Twitter thing)

Since this is a unit, it probably will only have a comeback a year, if we're lucky.

This is not a new concept to kpop. Cube had Troublemaker and Triple H, and YG had that thing with Mino and Bobby (can't remember the name).

They have all been seen together going to a dance studio, which means they have recorded either a mini album or single together. They wouldn't start going into the dance studio, if the music wasn't done yet. THEY ALREADY HAVE PUT WORK INTO THIS.

The fact that this was announced by anyone from SM means they are closer to debuting than not. They probably have the choreo down, and are getting an MV together. (Kai and Baekhyun's hair colors maybe a hint, maybe not)

For anyone who doesn't know, the hashtag trending on Twitter 'SM_보이그룹론칭_취소해' means 'SM cancel your boy group launching', which means you are asking for the work the guys have already made for the group to be canceled.

Has anyone thought that 'Maybe the guys are excited about this? '

Yes, it's still work but: Taemin and Kai are best friends getting to work together after a pretty long while, Ten looks up to Taemin, and we all know NCT (especially Mark) are EXO's number one fan boys, so those four probably fanboyed hard when they found out they get to work with Kai and Baekhyun.

Yes, SM needs to promote better. Do Mark and Taeyong need rest? Hell yes. Of course, they need to be a better company and treat their groups right, but is canceling this and giving it all this negativity helping (without SM even giving an official statement)?

As far as we know, it's happening. Knowing SM, they don't listen to protests, but who knows, maybe they will this time and not launch them. But, with that, what's the chance they'll give the fans all they're asking for (i.e. promotions, rest, comebacks)? Slim to none.

And, honestly, if I'm right and the boys are excited about this, I rather not have this be canceled and have to hear on a vlive or an interview how disappointed and disheartened they are about the group not getting to debut and that they had amazing songs for us, you know?

Same love I'm still into never from broduce but prefer hands on me. Idk what to think about woojin's raps. Sometimes they fit into the song, sometimes the instrumental or lyrics makes it seems like it was haphazardly written to give the dancer oriented members something to vocalize. Energetic remains the only w1 song i can listen to without getting bored. No matter how much I'm into yoon jisung, jaehwan, or minhyun I can't seem to listen to their eps without my mind wandering elsewhere (1/).

If youre looking for a good tropical I would suggest Hollands Im afraid. He isnt the best singer but the songs arrangement and production is stellar. I know it's from last year but kards Hola Hola, even if i prefer ohnana, is also a stand out. Whats funny is that your criticisms of tropical house is exactly what I have been hearing other people say about oh my, how it's low energy and not engaging, esp for svt. It definitely took me a couple of listens to appreciate its place on the mini. (2/)Tbh exos Kokobop is the closest kpop has come to producing dancehall rather than tropical, even if the chorus is so much musically interesting than the verses. Hello texture! Idk about semina i feel like it falls flat but that may be because I was expecting something similar to their produce audition. I was really into chunghas debut song but her nasality turned me off so much. Please mh give her something lower so that she can sing well and have interesting choreo bc she has the talent (3/)I guess Im less harsh on songs released in summer because theyre supposed to be light and airy, hence the myriad of comebacks/debuts experienced/about to experience. (Hyorin and triple h has my heart though.) It's a lot of misses for me too so don't feel bad about not enjoying the majority. I guess thats the good thing about saturation. Sorry if this part feels disjointed from the previous messages as tumblr seems to be in the habit of eating transitional ones as seen in previous threads. (4)

omg jisung was my 1-pick from ep 1 i was so happy to see him make the final lineup laksdjf broduce was actually one of the reasons i got into svt. i got tired of poor vocals and i remembered that svt has boo? who is pretty darn good at singing? so i went to listen to him after listening to the mansae performances and ladjkf somehow i ended up where i am today. but hmm really? actually someone i know said something similar ahaha. i wouldnt know about rap flow or lyrics or anything, but he remains the only person in w1 that id consider a rapper. the rest of the ‘rappers’ are baritones and are rappers for the sole reason that they are baritones. not everyone could have pulled off ‘d i double f e r e n t’ ksjdfl like idk. i personally enjoy his execution of raps ahaha like in light, he raps the word ‘벅차올라’ in a way thats really reflective of the imagery of the word itself? to me he really brought that word to life and laskdjf i think thats the only reason i gave light a second try but to each their own^^. ahaha i think ive gotten used to most of w1s title track though (at least they dont have a tropical house title track). some of their none title tracks though are good! wannabe, even if the lyrics are a bit cringy, musically i really like! it was composed by the same people who wrote air for infinite and twinkle for lovelyz, both songs i adoreim afraid? hmm for me personally the chorus was kinda overwhelming i wasnt the biggest fan of that instrument (it kinda hurt my ear actually). i feel like the verses had something going for them but then the chorus hit and i just kinda idk lakdjf. also kard i know i tried listening to their music but really couldnt get into it. i think i prefer oh nana as well after listening to both songs but still not something thatd end up in my music library.hmm really? tropical house i think in general with the instruments as a genre really isnt my thing so idk if im really criticizing tropical house as much as im stating why i personally am not a fan of it? the genre as a whole really turns me off and ahaha im a simple person if a song isnt tropical house i will honestly give it more listens and more tries to get into it. gfriends sunny summer is gradually getting stuck in my head as summer ends for instance ahaha i might be jamming to it come december ahaha. all of w1s title tracks are another example. there are times though where ive gone back to a trop house song and ended up realllllyy liking it. actually thats literally the case with all trop house songs that i like ahah aksdjf but yeah its really hard to get it to me on first impression i think idk what it is about the genre but its not my thing. ahaha im not a professional musician at all so idk but i thought the drum line was pretty neat in oh my? some of the vocal melodic lines were super pretty to listen to. and with a lot of svt songs too, like the verses in oh my were not the same copy and paste sort of thing. it could have been low energy and not engaging, to me it really felt like the summer afternoon heat that kind of vibe, but still i think i could get some musical things from it? or smth idk what is dancehall? and ahaha semina actually reminded me of their produce audition a lot alkjsdf and hmm yeah it did fall a bit flat but hey its not trop house ahaha i think i was super excited about hearing that sort of genre again after such a long time the last people i can think of who were close to that genre was mamamoo back in like 2014/2015. semina does get catchy after u listen to it after a couple of times? or at least thats the way i felt it was to me personally (or maybe nayoung hypnotized me with whatever magic she usually does on me). chungha? nasally?? the only song i liked that she released was why dont you know but i didnt know she had a nasal voice? at least an obvious one at that? i think she has her nasal moments but ? has she gotten progressively more nasal after debut? i know she has a suPER heady mix is that whats clouding my hearing ahaha. oh actually now that i think about it, her voice always used to remind me of some mix between sica and taeyeon ahaha so i think i just got used to her voice and her nasality over the years. but honestly i dont think her nasality is that consistent? i think she should work on bringing her chest into her mix first ahaha thats her biggest problem as of rn for me. and tbh i dont mind her voice and her tone too much! but there are def songs where i just wished the singer was a stronger vocalist so then id enjoy the song akdjf bc thats happened where i like the song but the singer just kinda detracts from it so i think i get where ur coming from...ahh i feel u in her debut song i was so disappointed by the rap alsdkjf i was like ‘wow this could have been a neat dance break for her’ but nah we got a rap ahaha. shes a soprano though so idk if she should sing any lower as much as she should start challenging her technique with the range she sings in.hmm yeah i think as pop music progresses in general, for me its just going to be a majority of misses ahaha personally speaking from a personal enjoyment standpoint. im sure a lot of the songs i dont like have a lot of musical credibility to them (ie triple h and hyorin lksdjfl rip like i dont even know what music i like these days from kpop groups minus svt honestly. select songs will stand out to me sure but nothing as consistent as svt. my go to girl groups also released trop house this summer i was so sad :((( )

hi, I'm really excited about exo's next comeback because it'll be the first one I'd be part of since I became a stan recently and even though Yixing has been absent he's my bias (along with baek lol). And I was wondering if it'll be possible for him to join exo this year or not? ☹️ I really don't know much about the issue so yeah. Thank you!

Honestly? No, I don’t think there’s a chance. The ban is still there so it’s really unlikely. As much as I want it it’s still not possible. This issue, the political issue, is something that SM can’t control nor can decide when it’s over so sadly, this could take years…. and as much as I hate sm this isn’t their fault and I’m sure they’re as desperate as us since exo makes a lot of money in china (aside from the money zyx makes, of course). Even though it looks like it’s not as severe as it was (the political thing..) since Yixing has been going to s.k a lot of times, that really doesn’t say much since the ban still stands so let’s not believe any rumors and well, keep waiting until something changes like there’s literally nothing we can do…😖 also wow a baekxing-l.. welcome to the club !

Oh, i absolutely LOVE the Percy Jackson Series !! i hope you have fun reading the books! Rick Riordan has such a fun writing style and pulls amazing stories out of his sleeves - i enjoy his books a lot! 😁 Mythology has always been super interesting to me, so i just gotta ask: do you have a favourite god or aesthetic of a god? any mythology is fine actually, i'm really interested in all there is ^^

For winter activities, I am also more on the cozy side xDD sports have never really been fun to me but i love going ice skating! that's probably the only wintery sport i could do every day xDD But yes, snow and the warm Christmas lights are surely one of my favourite things during that time of the year too - somehow it makes the world seem calmer to me. For other winter or Christmas traditions, I actually only have one and it's baking with my grandma. we do it once a year before the first advent and make enough cookies to last us through the entire season, haha.

Oh and yes, i actually do have one song that is my exo-song-nemesis xD it's Run. i just... i just can't listen to it. i hear it and actively do not have a good time xDD but oh well, they have a lot of other songs that i more than love to make up for that. How about you? Is there any song that's just now up your alley?

And i just need to pick up on the Harry Potter topic again, because i totally wanna know what your favorite book and your hogwarts house is (i'm a Ravenclaw 🤭).

Hi Secret Santa!

I just picked up the rest of the first series from the library! But I also bought my nephew a set so I’m waiting for him to finish the first book so I can start reading the second one. I actually really love Greek mythology the most and then Ancient Egyptian mythology/stories(?)! I used to know a lot about them. Funnily, I liked Dionysus, for some reason, I don’t even drink wine so it’s funnier now. But when I was reading the book, and his character came up, I was like IS THIS DIONYSUS? And sure enough it was! I can’t remember now, but must have been something when I was younger that got me super excited about it lol I was a huge book worm, my brother still calls me a nerd ^^;

I was just thinking about ice skating but I’m so scared to do it since I’m not that great. I like roller skating and rollerblading but ice skating is just a whole other level for me haha Awww baking is so wonderful, especially during the season!

I love Run! Hahaha I might be one of the few though from what I had seen over the years. But then again I did like EXO-M’s version more (Overdose album was all M for me) so I don’t listen to as much anymore these days ;_; I might get hate for this but honestly, Love Shot is one of my least favorite comeback/songs they’ve done. Don't get me wrong, if it shuffles/randomly plays, I will drop what I’m doing and “Na na na nana~” along but it’s not my to-go song. The MV was very nice and everything but it’s just not my style in terms of a song. Other than that, I can’t think of any other song, but I’m sure there’s more. Well, sadly, a lot (almost all) of Yixing’s solo songs aren’t my style, who up until recently, was my bias since 2013. I support him and buy the albums but I can’t listen to it a lot ;_; It’s probably why I started drifting to the other members. I love them all just, but sometimes their music isn’t my style ;______;

My favorite HP book is the Prisoner of Azkaban (so for me, I was disappointed with the movie because I felt it could have been a lot better) and then the Order of Phoenix (once again, so much was left out and made me sad like going to the hospital! THE HOSPITAL! They showed a scene with Arthur Weasley but that’s it! THAT’S IT! We learned so much about Neville too at that point). Like I didn’t really like Goblet of Fire much but they missed too much of the other storylines, like with the house-elves! I was like WINKY AND DOBY THOUGH!?! I’m a Hufflepuff! I was sad at first but when I read the letter that comes with sorting, I was like, Oh, yes, okay. I am a Hufflepuff haha And then Fantastic Beast came out with Newt being a Hufflepuff, I was like YAY! YES! What were your favorite books?

I think right now I like pastel-type colors! I started listing them, but let me add this:

Ask me a few years ago, it would be blue. Anything blue, so I think I've expanded!
