I can’t be the only one who thinks this: like Bobby as the most level headed member of sunset curve? I kind of love the idea of him being gentle but firm and kind of like the ‘leader’ in a way? Like breaking up arguments and talking the other guys down and stuff? Like not soft in the same way the other boys are but kind of more calm and cool? I kind of imagine Luke being adhd, like big and bright and colourful and loud but easily overwhelmed and at times bad tempered, not violent or mean in any way, just more so him taking it out on himself if he can’t get gigs or can’t write and stuff and will crying, throwing stuff around and yelling and stuff that kind of thing and Bobby is there level headed and kind, talking him down and offering a shoulder to cry on but is also quick to correct Luke if he’s insensitive or anything like maybe that’s where Luke learned the little ‘knock it off’ gesture he did to Alex when he was dancing to Wow in the gym? If Luke is being too much and he can tell Alex is anxious of Reggie is overwhelmed he’s just kind of like “not now, knock it off” and Luke will just go with it because it’s Bobby? And it works the other way around too, if Alex is a little too sarcastic with Reggie or Reggie is doing something a little thoughtless like reading stuff from Luke song book and he can tell Luke is embarrassed Bobby is just like “that’s personal Reg, Luke isn’t ready to share that” and Reggie will drop it because Bobby said so? Just kind of… Bobby is cool and level headed and calm and kind and the one the boys go to for advice and stuff? Obviously this is just my own head canon lol because we don’t have much on the show so feel free to disagree, but I just see a lot of Bobby being Luke’s match kind of, or the most rebellious or bad tempered of the group and I never think of him like that lol!

you know what, anon? i think the fact that we don't see a whole lot of Bobby really lends itself to this headcanon. because for all we know, the little gestures you mentioned are things they picked up from Bobby.

i think you're right about Luke needing someone to level him out. he's definitely the sort of person who throws every part of himself into whatever he's doing and while it's great and wonderful, it also leads him down the path to burnout really fast. and maybe Bobby was the person who spotted it before it got too bad and calmed him down, or maybe he was the person who brought Luke back from that downfall.

i think it's also a widely accepted hc that maybe Bobby was a little older than the others? even just a year or two would possibly lend a maturity level to all of this (although we all know boys mature super fucking slow) and maybe that's why Bobby is more level-headed than the others.

tbh i'm all for the friends to fwb to enemies to lovers thing that Bobby and Luke seem so perfect for but i also really do love this idea that Bobby centered them all. like yes the three of them are great together but they need someone else to keep an eye on them (which is why Julie is so perfect for them!) otherwise they tend to spiral out and can get lost along the way.

Anon who asked about Nirvana (really glad you know them! They're amazing! Also I didn't go to anyone else yet) anyways, I just realized that you knowing them made me embarrassed to send this ask 😂, but it's ok, I'm on anon. (Ps. I'm long winded, so this gonna be 2 parts probably [edit 3 apparently.]). So, I gave away like my whole end point by asking about Nirvana last time, but imma still start how I would have if I hadn't sent that ask. So, Luke, Charlie Gillespie, my #1 crush from the show.

{ 2/3 I love him so much rn, and that longer hair he has now, ugh, my heart (I could go on about that boy). But anyways, you know who else has longer hair right now too? Owen Joyner, and I really like it, a lot (he's also a crush from the show. Don't judge, I crush easy on celebs. My final crush is Savannah). Anyways, Idk if you know where this is going, but basically when Owen's hair falls a certain way in his face I think of Kurt Cobain (there I said it ripped the bandage off😥). Anyways, I'm very (3/3) embarrassed about this train of thought, but every time his hair falls in his face and covers half of it (Also especially when he has some stubble or whatever) I think of Kurt. Idk why but I do. I also don't know if that's part of why I think he's attractive. It definitely doesn't hurt though. Also, I know they don't actually look alike, but the hair just gets me sometimes. I hate it tbh. Lol, I just didn't wanna suffer in complete silence (You don't know how long it took to decide to send this) }

Oh nonnie ily!!! I understand feeling embarrassed (I get embarssed all the time especially as a fangirl) but this isn’t embarrassing at all! You know how many celebs I love and have crushes on? Way too many to count lol.

But to your point, omg you’re so right! They both do kinda have that Kurt Corbain look going on! It fits since I headcanon that Luke and Alex (and the rest of Sunset Curve) were major Nirvana fans. I mean, it’s not that hard of a stretch. But anyways, back to your point, this is such an awesome realization! Thank you so much for telling me, I’m so glad you did!

ghfgGHF thank you so much!! this made me smile oh gosh. i’m sorry this is so late, i haven’t been on anything but tumblr mobile in a good while and i tend to only lurk on there.

1. Describe your comfort zone– a typical you-fic.

swan queen LMAO. anything with a lot of women tbh, i haven’t completed a fic with a dude narrator in so long. romance could probably be considered a comfort zone even though it’s not irl. i love writing one-shots, and they’re either in a short prose style w/ more humor and attention to dialogue or long-winded, almost stream of consciousness. i usually write aus these days for ouat lmao, but i also like working w/ canon if there’s something interesting i want to expand on. i’m also trying to get more comfortable writing multichaps w/ longer plots! it’s challenging bc my brain is a mess, but v fun.

2. Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?

hmm, nothing super in particular comes to mind. maybe best friends to lovers? snowed-in? i’ll keep thinking on this one. i recently wrote a meetcute in the airport, and that was really fun.

3. Share a snipped from one of your favorite pieces of prose you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

hoo boY i think this section from “there’s always love if you need it,” which is a year in the life fic post emma breaking up w/ ho0k. i like this bit bc i feel good about the descriptions, imagery, and i feel pretty solid about the characterization which is rare bc i’m always nervous about that.

After Emma leaves Killian, she considers leaving Storybrooke. It wouldn’t be forever, she reasons, just to get her bearings, walk along once familiar streets in the skin of a once familiar life. She used to be a lot of someones and no-ones, and now she doesn’t know what shape tomorrow will take.

But she doesn’t leave. She finds herself driving to 108 Mifflin Street and ringing the doorbell. Regina answers and Emma is brought back to her last someone, when nervous, confused energy burned in her belly and something like hope burned equally bright in her chest. She didn’t know it was that word, then.

“Emma,“ she says, not Ms. Swan. “I heard.” Concern curves the end of the consonant, and Regina shifts her weight from one foot to the other. Her hand grasps the door frame, maroon nail polish catching cool porch-lamp light.

Emma wants to say, I was ready. Emma wants to say, I felt hollowed out like a pumpkin during halloween, all my everything somewhere else and I don’t know where. Emma wants to say, I’m tired.

She says, “Still have that glass of the best apple cider I’ve ever tasted?”

(regina’s smile is like sunset along the maine coast; gradual, soft, picture-worthy but you don’t want to spare a moment looking away.)

“Of course.”

god “when in the chronicle of wasted time.” regina saving emma w/ true love’s kiss. can you imagine. GOD

oh man i haven’t Officially Looked for a beta in a long time. usually i pass it off to trusted friends and i’m like PLEASE TEAR THIS APART. what i would look for though is someone with a similar style?

28. Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.

oh gosh!! i love so many that i’m gonna expand this a little bc even in swen i have so many. so here’s three swen, two non-swen.

amycarey, deemn, skywideopen, wagyubeefy, and montparnasse!

what i love about amycarey’s fic is that emma and regina (and their relationship) are still so recognizable in every single au. like, no matter what the premise is, it’s like AH YES THERE THEY ARE. and all of her aus!!! some of my favorite sq fics. down the rabbit hole was such a beautifully written and healing fic, it’ll stay with me always.

deemn’s fics are like…gosh every single word she puts together in a sentence. i feel SO much. if you like swan queen and haven’t read who needs shelter yet please read who needs shelter please let that fic be part of your life.

skywideopen wrote an AMAZING sw!dw fic that was absolutely everything i ever wanted out of a sq!dw fic, it was so emma and regina i cried, and it was also so true to the dw universe! spark is absolutely amazing.

wagyubeefy writers wicked fic and it’s !!! wicked was my first fandom and i always wanted a modern oz au, and boy does wagyubeefy have modern oz aus! they translate the issues of wicked to a society that also deeply reflects ours and has an incredible take on elphaba, glinda, and every character and have such a seamless, clear way of telling stories and !! so awesome.

montparnasse writes for hp, dragon age, and other fandoms and their narration/use of language is so gorgeous, like. i can’t even convey. they write rarepairs for hp like tonks/fleur and ginny/luna and each fic has just so much beautiful imagery and description and characterizations. GOSH wow.

37. Talk about your current wips.

aah!! unfortunately they are Very wips bc i have no time until the summer to work on any of them. but! here they are.

“one step, not much (but it says enough)” is my first tentative step back into multichaps, and one chapter is released already! the premise is that henry goes away to college, and emma/regina suddenly are confronted with their feelings w/ each other and It’s a Mess, also someone is trying to destroy sb, so that’s a mood. it’s also solidly in the romcom genre w/ some very sharp/sad moments, and i’m having so much developing sb into the hilarious mess it should be. the parks department hates the charmings. lesbian nights at the rabbit hole

unnamed as of now but i lovingly call it the “disaster road trip au” even though the road trip is only half the fic. it’s a college au and the basic premise is that emma and regina dated in highschool, they break up, emma moves away, years later in college she runs into zelena and they miraculously start a wild friendship. over winter break they take a road trip and end up having to pick up regina along the way and it Is A Mess and i’m excited to write it.

unnamed parks and rec au. if you’re on twitter u might have heard of this one, but regina is leslie, emma is ben, marian is ann, mm is chris, and hook is jamm.

that x files au i think i’ve been working on since last summer OH boy. regina is mulder and emma is scully but they’re also both mulder and both scully. one day i’ll figure it out.

Oh hi again! I sent the ask last night asking for stuff you feel uncomfortable answering? And I just wanted to say thanks for replying! Oh, and that I totally understand why you mean about julie and luke and stuff, i love them in the show but in fic and headcanon I’m only interested in luke/bobby and polyphantoms so the show and fic don’t always line up for me either! anyway! in return of you being so sweet I bring you a sweet headcanon… Bobby and Luke: friends to enemies to friends to lovers lol! I have heard it says in the book they were friends as kids and I like to imagine they were best friends, had a BFF break up in like 5th grade and then Luke became best friends with Alex and Reggie and Bobby rejoins the band when they’re like 16 and things are awkward and weird and oh the angst I love it lol (oh no pressure at all to answer this btw I know you get a lot of asks!)

ohhhhh myyyyy godddddd i love this idea!!! like what if at the end of 5th grade they just have this ridiculous argument about something totally stupid but maybe whatever it is turns out to be Bad Enough that one of them (i'm thinking Bobby tbqh) ends up asking his parents to send him to a different school for 6th grade!

(i mean tbh idk how this sort of thing works i grew up in a stupidly small town so i went to the same school from kindergarten to senior year but they're in LA and LA is enormous and there must be at least dozens of options of where to go based on what area of LA they live in so let's just go with it)

so Luke starts 6th grade without his best friend but he's stubborn and refuses to admit that he misses Bobby but it turns out okay because he meets Alex and Reggie and they all become friends and maybe over the next couple years he kind of forgets about Bobby anyway (except he really doesn't bc every so often he finds himself wondering what Bobby's doing or something happens and he can't help but think oh man Bobby would love this and stuff like that 🥺)

but when Luke, Alex, and Reggie decide to start Sunset Curve maybe they try just as a trio for a while but eventually they're like okay maybe we need another guitarist to really round out the sound so they print up a bunch of flyers on Luke's dad's computer (and totally use up all of his ink and then Totally Lie About It) and start putting them up around their local mall and stuff, hoping they'll get somebody cool to join them.

they have a couple guys answer the ad and most of them are ok but they just don't click. they're just not right.

now i'm thinking they're probably like 15/16 by now so that means it's been about five years since Luke and Bobby last saw each other, but you just KNOW as soon as Bobby comes in to audition they immediately recognize each other. somehow Alex and Reggie convince Bobby to stick around and try out while also convincing Luke to shut up and let him - and when it becomes obvious that Bobby's the best guitarist they've heard, Alex and Reggie again have to convince both of them that Bobby should join the band.

i'm betting Alex takes Luke and Reggie takes Bobby in terms of who convinces who, because imagine Luke sheepishly explaining to Alex why he and Bobby had a falling out five years ago and Alex being like that's the stupidest thing i've ever fucking heard and totally smacking Luke upside the head.

obviously it takes a while for Bobby and Luke to be okay with each other again, but Bobby befriends Alex and Reggie almost immediately (which probably totally pisses Luke off too because they're his best friends, dammit). but even Luke has to admit that Bobby makes the band better and he's glad to have Bobby back in his life. they should probably definitely have a shouting match that ends in one if not both of them admitting how much they've missed the other and that sets them on the path to being friends again.

and then obviously they eventually evolve from friends to More Than Friends 👀 but since this idea has already clearly gotten away from me... i'll just leave this here.
