Okay, so maybe giving his calling card to a kid was a bad idea. He sees that now. Unfortunately, it's too late to take it back. On the bright side, the kid wasn't going to be able to figure out who he is yet based solely on a summoning circle. In the pitch black void of things, Danny can sense the card and the person who's holding it.
Maybe if he leaves Fawcett fast enough he can keep plausible deniability because there's no way that the tiny homeless kid he just met is Captain Marvel. Nope, no way. Not his circus, not his monkeys. He's leaving now.
"What happened to you?" Deadman had an insufferable grin on his face. Did he have the House drop him in Gotham? Danny wouldn't put it past him.
"Don't wanna talk about it."
"Where ya going?"
"To the basement."
"Why?"
Was the other ghost always this annoying? "Because leaving was a terrible idea. I'm going to go hide in the basement until the day I fully die."
"Aw," Deadman tried to pout, but he failed and started to cackle. "Don't be like that. Did you not enjoy your trip to Gotham?"
Danny was a lot of things. Violent usually didn't make it onto that list. However, he was willing to make an assumption. "So it was your fault."
Another cackle. "Don't be like that! You've never been to Gotham before. You can't tell me you at least didn't have fun."
They were at the basement stairs now. "For your information, I have been to Gotham. I didn't get to do much exploring this time because Batman and his gaggle of sidekicks surrounded me!"
"You've been to Gotham?"
"Not important."
"Oh?" The glee on the full ghost's face made Danny uneasy. "I sense a story behind that."
Oh, no. "No. I'm not telling you." He marched past and down the stairs, not bothering to unlock or open the door.
"Please!"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because I said 'no'."
"Party pooper." he huffed. "You know I'm just going to keep asking, right?"
A sigh. "I'm not gonna cave. No."
"Ah, but you will!" That was the confidence of a ghost who knew he was right. Danny did not like how that bodes for him. "You, my friend, are a younger sibling. I am also a younger sibling."
Shit. "That....That means nothing. My answer will stay 'no'."
Deadman had the gall to chuckle darkly. "We'll see." Then, he disappeared.
Danny didn't sigh because he doesn't need to breathe. He was not going to tell what happened because what happens in Gotham stays in Gotham. It's a rule of thumb that people don't cross. Besides, Deadman doesn't know that Danny's actually the middle sibling. Dani, introduced to his parents soon after he'd told them he was a Halfa, was the embodiment of younger sibling because he had once been the embodiment of younger sibling.
***
"Please get Deadman to stop!" Danny begged Zatanna three weeks later. Maybe he'd overestimated himself a little bit.
The sorcerer raised an eyebrow as she looked up from the book she'd been reading. Something on runes? "What's he doing this time?"
"He won't stop asking me to tell him about my first trip to Gotham."
"You've been to Gotham?"
Danny groaned into the throw pillow he was clutching. "Yes. Please make him stop!"
"Sorry, hun," she focused back on her book, "But I can't see him."
"Oh. I forgot about that."
"Why don't you just tell him?"
Danny shot up, appalled by the very idea. "It's a matter of principle!" he exclaimed, "I am both the older and younger sibling: The middle child. If I give in, I'll have failed! I can't do that. Do you want me to fail?!"
"Okay, okay, geez!" she surrendered, "Don't gotta be so overdramatic about it."
"I'm not being overdramatic! I'm being just dramatic enough!"
"Sure, sure. Whatever you say, kid."
"I'm not a kid!"
"You look like one."
"Yeah, but I'm not! I'm-"
"King of the Infinite Realms," Constantine interrupted, "We know."
"Then don't call me a kid."
"Yeah, yeah, kid,"
"I'm not-!"
"Look, we can have this argument all day and we'll still end in a tie. I've got a case in San Francisco near Titan's Tower. Raven's coming along. Do you want to come with?"
"Don't you normally work solo?" Danny asked. Zatanna still hadn't looked back up from her book and he was pretty sure she'd tuned them out.
"Is that a 'no'?"
"No! No, I'll come with." Maybe having Constantine with him will deter the JL from hounding him. What do they even want with him? If they're upset that he died at fourteen, he's gonna scream.
The Brit smirked. "You sound almost desperate to get out."
"Shut up and let's go."
"Alright, alright."

Has there ever been a time in comics where Bruce Wayne ended up protecting his secret identity by simply...pretending to be the biggest fan of Batman ever? Like I know that he tends to be pro-batman as Bruce and comics tend to push the "he's just so good at this stuff if he ever is caught he can typically talk his way out of an accusation even with evidence" but I think it would be really funny if like. Someone saw something and Bruce was straight up like. Oh yeah I'm a major fanboy. Of course I have a replica of the batmobile I joyride around Gotham in! I can afford to make an exact cosmetic replica! Do you wanna see my secret nerd basement where I've got all my collectibles including my tailor made Batman costume? And people are just like...no, Bruce, we do not want to see...that. Someone accuses him of being batman and he pretends to be THRILLED like "you think my stuff looks that legit? I'm glad, these costumes cost a fortune!" Meanwhile Dick or Tim or someone is watching this from afar and trying so damn hard not to laugh.

Batman therapist - Part 2 (prequel)
Summary: While been taken hostage under the Wayne's residence helps you develop a severe case of boredom, you occupy your mind with thoughts of Bruce. Understanding his strange behavior leaves you with more questions than answers.
Characters: Bruce Wayne x Reader
Warnings: Fluff
Looking up from my book and seeing the god like sculpted muscles with what the towel would let me see. The little of light that would brush against his skin softly.
Water droplets fell from his hair and rolled down his back. Would it be too much from me to say that I would lick it off his body in an instant?
Hearing him in the shower when walking past his room. I swear he would tease me, the way his door would be ajar.
Tumblr media
I spent most of my time here barely existing. I daydreamed most of the time whether that was while deep in many of the books that were here or looking at particular someone. Bruce had a routine and by the first week I had it down.
Mostly of his routine was by himself in his little cave from what it looked like.
As weeks went by, I stayed. I questioned first, many many times. But the same response came from Bruce and Alfred. My safety.
Somehow I got tangled into Gotham's troubles. Bruce wouldn't let me go. For how long? No answer.
I know I've definitely lost my job. My plants are probably dead. My apartment could be broken into by now and I wouldn't even know.
In the events that lead of up to strange existence, I lost my phone so I felt pretty much cut off from the world. Alfred would give me a private line to contact my family to tell them I'm safe. But other than that, not much else.
"Miss, do you want to have the rest of that sandwich that you were saving for later?" I snapped my head back.
My attention completely broken from the corrupted thoughts running in my head.
"Oh.. Yeah, that actually sounds great" I smiled crawling out of my big cozy chair I made a den in for the last couple of hours.
"I've noticed you have taken quite a liking to that chair when reading over the last couple of weeks. Would you like Mr. Wayne to move it to your room where you might be more comfortable?" Alfred offered leading me to the kitchen.
"There's really no need. I kinda like the cozy corner I have in the living room right now. Unless.. I'm in the way?" I asked realizing this might be "Mr. Wayne's" request more than Alfred idea.
"Of course not, I just suggested. I know I just like reading when I'm in more my space" He wholesomely smiled while handing a plate of my left over sandwich.
As I ate, some stray piece of lettuce fell out of the sandwich. I felt a presence walk behind me. With that, the chair beside me pulled out.
I casually glanced over to see the towel still around his neck but underneath a black t-shirt was now covering his soft pale skin.
"What's that?" He gestured to the food on my in my hands.
"A sandwich" I stated holding back a smile that was peeking through my poker face.
He rolled his eyes and I noticed his jaw clenched. My thighs automatically pressed together.
"No shit.." He mumbled.
Before he looked away a small smile crept up on his face. My heart jumped at the thought of me making him smile.
I looked down at his hands, they were fidgety. He couldn't sit still. Within a couple of minutes, he was gone again. I looked over at Alfred who was busy pouring himself some coffee.
"How do you relax around him?" I smirked
"Change you mind about the chair now?" Alfred chuckled taking a sip of his coffee.
-------
After saying goodnight to Alfred, I made my way to my room. Every night I past this stairwell that lead presumably to the basement. I argue with myself most night whether to go down or not.
"Fuck it" I whispered to myself. I glanced by to make sure Alfred wasn't near and quietly made my way down the stairs.
Dim lightening peeped from the bottom of the door. I pressed my ear against it, nothing.
I turned the knob expecting it to be locked but hearing the latch click. I paused realizing the door was unlocked. I opened the door gently hoping it didn't squeak.
Through the crack, I could see him at his desk, all surrounded by computer screens which were casting a bright light on to his face. That was the only light source in the big open void space. I would see shapes of object in his room but nothing too detailed.
I tried to focus on what was on all the screen but I couldn't make out anything. I just knew two of the screens had several CCTV footage on them. I squinted my eyes, straining to see anything further.
As I leaned more forward the door hinges made a high pitch squeak, ripping me from my focused trance. I pulled back quickly not knowing if he noticed or not. I held my breath for a second listening to any cue of what may be happening.
Suddenly the ajar door jolted open.
It took a second for my eyes to adjust in such darkness.
"What the hell" He voice stayed low with a hint of annoyance.
"Uhh... " I fumbled my mind going completely blank.
"That's all?" He replied I couldn't really make out his facial expression.
"I didn't realise taking you in means I would be losing my privacy" He sighed leaning up against the door frame shoving his hands in his sweat pants.
"Well... I think you're being a bit dramatic" I smirked.
"What were you doing then, peeping Tom?" He snapped back.
We both stood in silence in the near pitch black doorway. The only thing I could see was the silhouette of his frame from his computer hub.
"So can I come in?" I whispered, breaking the silence.
He didn't say anything. He just shifted his weight and turned, leaving the doorway free. He made his way to his desk and plonked his body on his chair. As I slowly entered the room, I watched him exit out some windows on his monitors. The CCTV monitor stayed. The closer I came the more I noticed that it was live footage of Gotham city.
He spun around in his chair to face me. I continued to look around, but the room was in the depths of darkness. Making out anything was a mission. I think there was a wall full of book shelves on the left of me. That's where a couple of reading chairs and a coffee table were, that I could make out.
"Satisfied?" He stated, bringing my eyes back to him.
I nodded but felt lost in the middle of the room. I didn't want to leave knowing this was probably going to be the last time I would be here. It's the only part of the building I haven't explored, and I wanted to see more. To be honest, I wanted to watch Bruce. I wanted to see what he does for hours and hours. I know I won't get that now due to my presence.
I walked over to one of the leather reading chairs, feeling his eyes on me the whole time.
I sat down, the cold material pressing against my legs. I brought them up on the chair and rested my head back.
We looked at each other for a couple of seconds before he turned back to his desk and continued with whatever he was up to.
The quiet clicking of a mouse every so often was the only noise that filled the room. I glanced down to see his leg shaking under the table, nonstop. It was a tick I didn't expect from him. His eyes stayed focused on the screen in front of him.
As time went by, I felt my eyes getting heavy. I fought the urge to stay awake until the next think I remember is waking up in a bed.
My bed.
My eyes followed a beam of sunlight, cutting my bed in half and continuing all the way up my wall.
I laid there wishing I was in his room instead.

2023 Favorites
I'm kinda glad I was keeping track of what I watched, in retrospect, because looking back over my posts this year, I realized I forgot about a lot of stuff. XD After looking over the recaps and excluding rewatches, here's my top ten New Stuff I Watched for 2023:
10. Cabinet Of Curiosities
Tumblr media
Bizarre nightmares unfold in eight tales of terror in a visually stunning, spine-tingling horror collection curated by Guillermo del Toro.
If GDT is your guy, give this a watch. Creature features, cursed objects, aliens, you name it. 8/8 tentacled eldritch abominations.
9. Wolf Creek
Tumblr media
Three backpackers stranded in the Australian outback are plunged inside a hellish nightmare of insufferable torture by a sadistic psychopathic local.
Holy shit, this was intense. And as I said initially, so mean. If you're into Texas Chainsaw Massacre, try this. I'm into franchise bingo, so I'm going to look into the sequels and TV series. 3/3 heads on a stick.
8. Requiem For A Dream
Tumblr media
The drug-induced utopias of four Coney Island people are shattered when their addictions run deep.
I get the feeling this is one of those that hurts so much more on rewatching, so there's that to look forward to. I've also rarely seen movies that do so much harmonizing between the music and the visuals, and it was so satisfying. 4/4 refrigerator jump scares.
7. Evil Dead Rise
Tumblr media
A twisted tale of two estranged sisters whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.
This was probably the most fun I had with a horror movie all year, TBH. Horror exploring family dynamics will always be a fave, and this brought plenty of fresh stuff to the franchise while also holding onto the core traits. 5/5 Staffenies.
6. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
Tumblr media
A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers embark on an epic quest to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.
This was the most fun I had watching a movie all year, period. If you know nothing about DND, it's a good fantasy movie. If you're a DND nerd, the game mechanics are baked into it. If you're a fan of found families, guess what! 6/6 stealth checks.
5. Cowboy Bebop
Tumblr media
A ragtag crew of bounty hunters chases down the galaxy's most dangerous criminals. They'll save the world--for the right price.
I got exactly what I wanted out of this, so haters be damned. The anime is a masterpiece and a classic, but if you're not in the mood for the existentialism and other heavier themes, here ya go. 3/3 shower-bath-showers.
4. The Black Phone
Tumblr media
After being abducted by a child killer and locked in a soundproof basement, a 13-year-old boy starts receiving calls on a disconnected phone from the killer's previous victims.
Near perfect, as far as I'm concerned. The older I get, the more kids-in-danger as a concept fucks with me, making this the most stressful movie I watched this year (though It Chapter One gave it a run for its money, and I still think they would make a great double feature). 5/5 black balloons.
3. Evil Dead (2013)
Tumblr media
Five friends head to a remote cabin, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads them to unwittingly summon up demons living in the nearby woods.
It's gnarly. It's badass. I almost puked. I had THE BEST time. The story works as an effective allegory, the effects are gruesomely awesome, and the finale is metal af. Plain and simple. 70,000/70,000 gallons of fake blood.
2. The Crow
Tumblr media
A man brutally murdered comes back to life as an undead avenger of his and his fiancée's murder.
Beautiful, sad, aesthetic for days, hella good soundtrack. *chef kiss* I still haven't seen The Batman, but they seem visually similar, so if you like that, you'll probably like this. For more in-depth thoughts, read my post. 1/1 epic rooftop guitar solos.
1. The Fall Of The House Of Usher
Tumblr media
To secure their fortune (and future) two ruthless siblings build a family dynasty that begins to crumble when their heirs mysteriously die, one by one.
Not just a new favorite Mike Flanagan. A new favorite in general, and my number one for the year. I just screamed about this one last month, and I don't have anything more to add. I've seen Succession comparisons, and while I have no idea how accurate that is, there's my "if you like that, here's this." Holy crap. 7/7 deadly sins personified.
Happy New Year! 🥂

Hawkmoth poem, by bootyshitter
My wife's dead
Dead
NOW IM CRAZY
Like Gotham
Crazy like Gotham
I prey on people who are sad
Sad
Like Gotham
My dead wife's in the basement
Guess what?
Like Gotham
I'm the Batman of Gotham baby
But evil
Like Gotham
GYACHHHH
MY WIFES DEAD I beat my son
I beat my son everyday And man, I don't play
Now what if this was all a metaphor
I'm smarter than they give me credit for
The metaphor is for Gotham
Cus I beat my son
My sons name is Adrien
I beat him for no reason
Cus my wife dead
And I shot her grandma in the head
Like the joker with Harley Quinn Just kidding that didn't happen
Cus I've got scitzophtenia
- change pov citizen in France -
When I first saw hawkmoth I was like dang he’s ugly
and definitely not cuddly
but at least he’s got money
then i thought some more and took him in
then realized his home state was in gothim.
then my face started looking real grim
cause everytime the scarecrow comes round with his gas
I can sense hawkmoth starts farting out his ass
then he blames it on someone else, till they start gagging and suffocation
Black Death in the air particle victimization
then the butterfly’s come round and akumatize
turn black, on my nose, evil in my eyes
turn evil, get beat, everyone dies
when they die people cry
and this is the cycle of gotham
you all can do this while I lay dead on the ground like a possum
and we haven’t even gotten to his son
that kids gay, or maybe he’s just French. I don’t know he’s dumb
either way, hawkmoth isn’t a good father

Hello, can I request a one shot where the reader goes roller skating with Dark Knight Johnathon Crane as an undercover mission for Batman please, thank you!
To be honest, I've never been roller skating and idk how those rinks work so i'm just kind of assuming here
DK! Scarecrow x reader
Warnings & Notes: jonathan doesn't know how to rollerskate
“To be fair, when I said we needed to think of an alibi, I didn’t mean that we should go rollerskating.” Jonathan sighed, looking at the building in front of the two of you.
“Oh, come on. It’ll be fun!” You chimed, smiling as the neon signs reflected off the snow. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you were scared of having fun.” You mocked, to which he just scoffed. You walked towards the building, holding the door open as Jonathan stepped inside. The warm air was a welcome change, not to mention the atmosphere inside was mesmerizing – the blue and purple lights making the space look unreal. Like a dream, almost.
“Well, go on then.” Jonathan said while leaning against the wall.
“Oh, I am not doing this alone -” You started, turning to face him. “You’re skating.”
“I am a psychiatrist, not a… roller skater.” You swore you could see a hint of nervousness in his face, but his expressions were never easy to read, so you couldn’t be exactly sure. You took his hand and practically dragged him with you. Jonathan did stay behind as you went to pay, though. You kept glancing back at him to make sure he didn’t sneak out and leave. It would make this much, much harder, considering the first reason you two here was for an alibi to convince people that no, he was not making hallucinogenic drugs inside Arkham Asylum’s basement after work.
You walked to get the skates, Jonathan following close behind quietly. No words were spoken for a while, until you got your skates on and turned to look at Jonathan, who was just… sitting there, fumbling with one of the skates. He had put one of them on already, but it seemed like he was trying to take as long as possible with the other one.
“You need help with that?” You asked, and he looked up to meet your gaze, thinking of an answer. “if you can’t skate, you know I can just teach you.” You reassured him, coming to the conclusion he probably didn’t know how to skate, considering his hesitance.
“No, No, I don’t need help-” he replied, swiftly putting on the second skate, tying the laces tightly. You nodded, standing up and stretching. You were just about to go over to the rink when Jonathan came over to you awkwardly, looking a bit like a deer on ice. You stepped out onto the rink, which was luckily quite empty aside from a couple of small groups.
“Here, let me help you-” You offered your hands towards him, and he reluctantly held onto them as he stepped out onto the rink next to you. “Now, are you sure you don’t want me to teach you?” You asked, looking as he tried to steady himself.
“I suppose-” He started, but got interrupted by almost falling. You held onto his hands, trying to keep him steady.
“Okay, well, let’s start slowly.” You guided him, holding his hand as you started to skate slowly, him following you. He probably didn’t notice it himself, but his grip on your hand was starting to hurt. Couldn’t blame him, though – falling on roller skates was not fun. “Hey, Jonathan? My hand is starting to hurt.”
“Apologies-” He muttered out, focused on not falling and loosening his grip on your hand. He was already a bit more confident, but he was not letting go.
Jonathan didn’t speak much during the hour you two spent there, which was expected. Other than that, you’d say it went well. Leaving the place, you smiled at the thought that the mighty scarecrow almost got defeated by a skating rink.

yes I'm talking about btas again
I think one good reason why I like the episode "I've got Batman in my basement" is BECAUSE of the tone shift.
Realistically, if you're gonna be working as a superhero, you're gonna be having to deal with more than just crime and the end of the world etc etc. you're gonna be helping old people cross the street, get various animals and things out of trees for people of any age, among other mundane tasks.
It's a good reason why people really like Spider-Man, it's actually one of the more popular things people really want Spider-Man to return back to, especially in movies.
Let Batman feel more human. Just like Spider-Man, he really is just some guy in a silly costume. If anything, "I've got Batman in my basement" could even be likened to that infamous scene of Spider-Man being carried and protected by the civilians for being a hero. Batman is a hero to the kids and they're doing what they can to protect him from the bad guys-- and just like Spider-Man, Batman gets back up in time to finish the fight.
Yeah it's less grandiose, but compared to all the major crazy huge events and junk that Batman faces on the regular (plz give this man a break--) this is a welcome change of pace every now and again.
Not everything needs to be huge and dramatic. y'know?
Anyways, I think Bruce deserves an extended retirement. I say that out of my own liking of the character to a degree.

"YES BUT WHY WOULD THE VERY DRUNK MAN EVEN GO DOWN TO THE HARD-TO-GET-TO DANGEROUS DARK PLACE, NEAR THE DEEP FLOWING WATER??"
Oh my god, sober normies.
Guys. I am morbidly obese and am terrified of leaving the house except to go to work.
But get three shots in me? I become The Batman.
I'm not exaggerating. I've climbed mountains that were on private land, in the dark. I've buzzed-driven onto military property, with my headlights off, at 2 am, because I wanted to get a better look at the full moon shining on a tin roof. I walked across a 4 lane highway once to get to a river because I thought I saw a cool bird (it was a plastic bag). I can't scale fences, but I can certainly Hulk-open a weak point and stumble through a dangerous construction site, because the basement foundation looked like a labyrinth. That I then got lost in. For 2 hours.
Drunk people have a lot in common with bipolar people and toddlers, in that we demonstrate amazing feats of strength and agility, getting into incredibly dangerous places, for the absolute STUPIDEST reasons imaginable.
It's almost like the human animal's default is mindlessly wandering into hell unless someone stops us, or something.
I should have been dead like 14 times. And I'm boring! I got lucky. When people don't, they die, and they die weird.
It isn't a serial killer with a bizarre MO, or something paranormal. You need to appreciate how extraordinarily goofball people can get when you cut their brakes.
Which is 100% why we love getting screwed-up in the first place!

Something I've half noticed is that in the DC x DP fandom, Danny gets shipped with....everyone? Like I've seen him paired off with Jason and Damien most often i think, but also with Dick and Bruce. Just feels surprising. (also only dude? Huh)
Where do you land on this? Do you ship him with anyone in particular? Care to share your thoughts on this?
Tumblr media
I was also surprised by this when I first joined the batphandom. I’m so used to other fandoms that have strict pairings, with little deviation and so few rairpairs.
But I really enjoy this aspect of the crossover. It’s fun to explore different character dynamics and stages of life. I think it comes from two things.
1. Batman and DC is old. There’s 89 years worth of material to cherry pick from, and EVERYONE has their own favorite era, storylines, and characters. It doesn’t matter how you characterize any of them because it will always be canon somewhere throughout the years. And there’s so many plots to explore you’ll never run out of material.
2. Danny Phantom is complete. The show ended 16 years ago, which means the people viewing it originally on Nickelodeon (me) are generally around age 30. So we relate to more adult characters like Bruce, Dick, and maybe Jason, but still feel connected to our childhood emotions through the canon-young characters so shipping Danny with Tim or Damian still makes perfect sense because of their canon ages.
Another aspect is that these characters rarely age within their own canons, so it’s easy to keep them as-is, or say “hey I grew up and I wanna make Danny grow up too.”
Danny is my age. He was just 14 in 2004 when the show started, and I was barely 15, so I grew up with him. I also grew up with Tim being Robin in Batman: the Animated Show, so pairing them makes sense to me age-wise, but these are also fantastic fictions that never overlapped so the timeline they exist in is nebulous.
It helps that Danny fits every trope of being a Robin. Young, sassy, jumps in to fight without guidance, black hair blue eyes, puns for days, near/full death experiences, and a vampire themed billionaire with a basement lab who’s trying to adopt him. Like… *waves hands around*
Honestly? I missed this kind of Fav Character Being Shipped With Everyone mood we got in the early days of Harry Potter. There’s so many characters to choose from that its just fun to explore. Having strict parings reduces creativity imo, so joining this fandom and getting an explosion of options is refreshing.
As for Danny just being shipped with guys in the DC universe? Yeah, I’ve never seen him shipped with Steph or Cass or Babs. Part of it is an outcome of misogyny. The male characters are more fleshed out and focused on by the comic writers. They’re better advertised and showcased in more tv and movies. The women are neglected so they aren’t as widely known unless you seek out their comic runs on purpose. Very few are even shown in the animated movies, which is where the most frequently used story lines come from for fandom. (Or at least that’s my experience.)
And fandom is just super gay. Fic was the only way to get good queer relationships and representation for so long (still is imo), that straight pairings aren’t common or are overlooked as part of the long term culture.
I don’t have a particular favorite pairing for Danny. My main interest in fiction is character growth, so I look for plot driven fics, or hurt/comfort, or found family.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
Do you have a favorite pairing? Or have you seen a good Steph/Danny fic? Cuz that’s a rairpair I could get behind.

Trying to be more positive, and I don't like people associating me with things I hate irl, so here are some things I love. Reblog this with things you love!
Tumblr media
-Art. Pretty much any art. Paintings, sculptures, digital art, traditional art, etc
-Cartoons. I really like shows like Pokemon, Helluva boss, Hazbin hotel, Lego monkie kid, Bluey, and my favorite cartoon movie is The Lego Batman Movie
-Drawing. Definitely one of my favorite things, and I do it all the time. My entire account is a drawing blog, lol
-Video games. I'm not really a "gamer" in the traditional sense, but I love video games like Pokemon, Hollow Knight, Minecraft, and I'm trying out Cookie Run Kingdom
-Pokemon is going in its own little section. I literally have about 5 roleplay blogs for it, lol. I also really love drawing Pokemon and studying the lore of the games
-Birds. I really love birds! I have bird feeders which I haven't filled in a awhile, but I loved watching the birds come down and eat. I hear a crow and a Bluejay every morning, but I've only seen the Bluejay once, and I really want to see them again! And there's a Robin, a Sparrow, and a dove couple that live in my tree and I really love them
-Plush toys. Most of them are in the basement as I redecorate my room, but there are some that I still sleep with. My favorite one is this teddy bear named Bosco
-Plants and herbs. I find that stuff very interesting, and I love learning about plant life and the different uses and symbolism of flowers and herbs
-Mythology and fairytale. I love going around and reading books and fairytales from different cultures. I'm currently reading 2 books called Journey to the West, an old 1600s Chinese book, and the Red Swan, which is a book containing a bunch of Native American myths
-Crystals. I have a Crystal's collection, and I really enjoy learning about them
-Demonology and whatever the study of angels is called. I have like 30 page papers on different demons and angels in Abraham's religions because I find that stuff so interesting! Thank my sister for letting me rant to her for 30 minutes about it, lol
-Moths. Moths are very cute. My favorite moth is the Luna Moth (even if they only live for a week in their moth form, lol)
-Possums. Opossums are one of my favorite animals, but Australian Possums are cute too
-Fashion. I like a bunch of different fashion senses, especially androgynous and alternative fashion
-Weirdcore, dreamcore, and traumacore. It teaches us not to be afraid of the unknown, and can help people cope with their trauma

-Stickers, pins, figurines, etc. They're all very cute
-The cafe aesthetic. I don't go to many cafes because I don't live near many where you can sit down, but I still really like them.
-Borzois. They're so freaking goofy
-Goijg on walks. Mostly at the evening, because that's my favorite time of day
-Room decorating. Currently decorating my room right now, and planning on how to do it is very fun

-Cryptids. I love cryptids a lot! And I p9ve studying them as well
-Mythical creatures. I love them a lot. Fairies, dragons, sirens, etc
-Cottagecore. Nature also works, bit cottagecore has a nice feeling to it. The scenery is very comforting to me

New(ish) Comics Day! (Even more delayed by essentially a week due to extenuating circumstances)
Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #11: Ah. End of the David story. This is definitely one where I didn't have the requisite reading background to follow what was happening in the resolution, but good ol' DC Database had my back. I am sure I will care more once I've got around to reading Kingdom Come.
The Flash #791: More One Minute War! Bart and Ace remain my absolute favourite parts of this comic, as they play off each other so WELL. ALSO BART AND MAX REUNION.
The New Champion of Shazam! #4: Mary!!! I’m so glad I caught up on this last week so I could immediately follow with this today. Shocked, SHOCKED at the Georgia reveal (I’m really not). Unethical experiments in the basement is clearly a bad thing, Dr Sivana. Hoppy helps save the day! (I think Darla might have adopted Hoppy at this point. Sorry, Hoppy’s previous owner, but that rabbit is magical)
I get not wanting to use Miss/Mary Marvel as a hero name, I do, but every time they start calling any of the Shazamily by their transformation names problems occur. That’s how we ended up with Freddy referred to as CM3, because he couldn’t introduce himself as Captain Marvel Jr without transforming. So I’m hoping that was just a cool set moment and not a hero renaming.
Warlord #7: today in our tour of Mike Grell’s brain we are melting a rifle down to make a Damascus steel sword. Um. Sure. You realise the carbon content of that will be wrong and from a quick glance Damascene steel goes in for nickel alloys while gun steel uses a broader range of alloys including vanadium, chromium and aluminium given metallurgical advances over the past few centuries…oh never mind. I already figured that Grell can’t read a phase diagram.
(This has been your nerd corner moment with Zahri. Yes I have in fact studied this shit at a university level, how on earth did you guess)
Conveniently Mariah was the Russian national Sabre Champion in her past! So the new sword is just fine.
Trevor tells Mariah that her sensible blouse and hard wearing pants of an archaeologist is why she just got considered loose by people in this market, so she needs to dress like the locals.
Tumblr media
Cue a clothing transformation scene into… this. (Look I’m just going to drop the panels for you, you won’t believe me otherwise). Sure. That fits in so much better, Trevor.
Tumblr media
Trevor accuses Mariah of being a Romanoff due to her surname of Romanova. I’m just going to leave that there and go scream into a paper bag. That’s…not how it works, Trevor. It’s an extremely common Russian surname.
Also there is a cursed axe.
(Yes, Warlord is one of the highlights of my week, if you couldn’t tell)
To be read: I am MEANING to sit down and get onto the Tom Taylor Nightwing run at some point because while I have heard all the meta, the concept of ‘rewrite the Blockbuster arc’ is at least interesting to me in that I want to see which beats are used and which are not (and I am a person who quite enjoys portions of Devin Grayson’s writing so I want to see if the stuff I enjoy gets teased out). I intend to sample Monkey Prince. At some point I am going to work out the reading order of the ‘get into current continuity Bat Books’ plan I have but I’m still trying to untangle which bits I want to read.
To do: work out when I’m going to pay for DCUI Ultra and be only 28 days behind.

First appearance: Detective Comics #58(December, 1941)
Story: Don't let his appearance or size fool you. Within those tubby cheeks, that beak-like nose, and silly suit hides the mind and heart of a master criminal. Oswald Cobblepot aka the Penguin was shunned for his appearance as a child. Learning the secrets of the Gotham Underworld, The Penguin had built a reputation over the years. After losing his entire empire, Oswald had devoted his life to rebuilding it from the ground up and everything he deemed necessary to do so. Armed with a large variety of trick umbrellas, his love of birds, his many loyal and brutal men, and the intelligence to rival even the Batman, the Penguin is a foe you do not want to take for granted. Especially when you are a traitor as large as Roman Sionis.
Bio: Real name: Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot Occupation: Crime Lord Base of Operation: Gotham City Eyes: Blue Hair: Black Height: 5ft Weight: 138lbs
Attributes: Master Criminal Expert hand to hand combatant Driven to claim all power in Gotham City. Even if it means allying with lunatics such as The Joker. Deadly trick umbrellas Burning hatred for Roman Sionis. Known to be a master thief and uses the Iceberg lounge as a red herring.
Dream voice actor: Danny Devito, or Paul Williams. I was debating for a while to choose either Danny or good ol Paul. I still am highly fond of Batman Returns recently and Danny still won't leave my mind. Especially when my drawing of Penguin is based on the classic design, but a small portion of the Tim Burton design as well. But at the same time, I just watched I've Got Batman in my Basement last night and now Paul won't leave my mind. Now obviously Paul will have to be a little more viscous with this Penguin than in TAS, but I think he can do it well. So you know what? We'll let fate decide on who should be Penguin.
Featured songs: Puttin' on the Ritz by Taco, or Fred Astaire. In case you didn't realize, the song by Taco was not the original version, and it even goes back to the 1930s. I only recently found out about that fact, which I figured I'd share. Anyway, the term "to put on the Ritz" refers to dressing fashionably, and let's face it, that just fits someone like the Penguin all too well.

Batman x Lab Rats crossover
The thought of some trauma-driven, angsty boy, like the Red Hood, being pulled into an emotionally-open, light heart-ed family, like the Davenports is incredibly entertaining to me. So, I've been having little plot bunnies pop into my head.
I haven't watched Lab Rats in a long while, but recently I've been looking back on it. If I remember the timeline correctly:
Adam, Bree, and Chase are Douglass Davenports' children.
Then Donald Davenport takes them and disowns Doug, because Doug planned to turn them into bionic super soldiers.
Doug meets Victor Krane, who collects bionic children behind Doug's back and those children later inhabit the Davenport Bionic Academy.
(In this AU Doug tries to make one more bionic human before just building Marcus. That person ends up being Jason.)
The crossover timeline in my head, is roughly:
Jason dies and comes back, is found by the League and put in the Lazarus pit.
(Talia kinda-cares in this one) He recovers a little bit and Talia sends him to train with multiple people.
One of those people is Doug (to learn about hacking, coding, robotics, something mechanical (because Doug does know what he's doing))
Doug and Jason bond over their want for revenge against their family. (Doug keeps the "experimenting on my own children and making them super soldiers" thing quiet)
He recovers, trains and comes back to Gotham as the Red Hood (IDK his cannon age, but in this he is a year or two years older than Adam, Bree, and Chase)
Eventually, Jason continues his training and then returns to Gotham.
Timeline continues as usual and something happens that seriously injures him (either it's Hood giving Batman the ultimatum between him and the Joker or something else)
(The more I think about it, the more I like the 'something else' option, for drama's sake.)
Apparently, Doug has been following Gotham news on the Red Hood, because he wanted to be close by for the Hoods "final showdown" (to celebrate with him if he get what he wants or to support him if he doesn't)
Doug finds Jason, saves him and brings him back to his lair to help him.
(Similar to what Doug would later do with Leo.) Jason gets bionics while he's passed out, when he wakes up Doug breaks the news and Jason finds out why his brother actually took his kids.
(I don't think Jason would want powers and I think Doug would know he wouldn't be given a willing test subject (that's probably why he used his own kids))
The chip is something Doug has been working on to "improve upon the previous models", but altered last minute to help Jason heal and recover. (This boosted healing ability helps Jason heal from the Lazarus rage in the long run)
Jason is upset and angry (for a multitude of reasons) and leaves. (Doug takes this as the sign to stop focusing on bionics and is spurred into creating Marcus(and later works with Krane))
Jason starts traveling the world and hunting criminals, starts to recover from the Lazarus Pit as well.
While on a mission, he discovers his ability to Geo-leap and starts to look back into the Davenports. (he was under the impression that he only got accelerated healing (Doug mentioned the chip was experimental, but he left soon after))
Using what Doug had mentioned before, Jason began looking for more about Donald Davenport. (Jason is suddenly very concerned about the three missing children (because Don raised them in his basement??))
(This is taking place before season one btw)
Jason finds Donald, has a dramatic reveal about the chip (and his revival, because Don is a rich man who used to occasionally goes to galas) and asks for some help.
(Not really clear how this actually plays out. Donald knows that Doug gave Jason a chip "a while ago", not that he's the Red Hood or that Doug is alive (Jason has no reason to trust Don any more than he now trusts Doug, so he keeps most details to himself))
Don thinks Doug gave him a chip before he was adopted by Bruce Wayne(because Jason was homeless(and I can only assume, the children Krane 'acquires' were also homeless orphans at some point.)) and that the bionics were triggered after his death.
He also assumes that the Jason didn't actually come back to life, just that maybe his heart stopped, his bionics triggered and kept him alive in a seemingly dead state, and then slowly healed him.
(Don wasn't close to any of the Waynes and doesn't follow Gotham news (I doubt there were many public details about Jason's death to begin with) so he's not familiar with the details. All he knows is Jason was in a bad accident and passed away)
From there, Don introduces him to Adam, Bree, and Chase (Jason's glad to see they are, in fact, alive) and Jason stays with them while he trains his Geo-leaping. Afterwards, Jason just comes and goes.
I know this probably doesn't have any kind of fanbase, but chances are I'm gunna continue writing parts and snippets of this AU. The concept is just so comical to me that my mind keeps coming back to it.
