Long Rant Post Warning ⚠️

(kinda, not really)

idk if anyone else has said this but red dead redemption 2 is the ultimate 'cosy game' and anyone who says otherwise is a liar.

it is SO cosy. think ab it.

when you think about cosy games what do you think of? Animal Crossing? Stardew Valley? they all have similar characteristics.

they're slice of life games, you can camp, meet and converse with npcs, go fishing and foraging, dress and care for yourself/character, immerse yourself in a cosy stress free world.

Babe, thats Red Dead Redemption 2!! (minus the rest of the game shush)

But rdr2 is a BETTER cosy game than the rest of these schmucks and heres why:

think ab the games we've mentioned: Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, The Sims, Harvest Moon, etc.. They're great but they're rarely immersive and can very easily become overplayed. like im a sims girly always have been always will but its repetitive. same goes for most other games. Going on Animal Crossing everyday to say 'Hi' to Deli (best islander) and run around trying to get bells for 20 minutes can become tiresome. not cosy.

But i could spend ETERNITY camped out on lake Owanjila, watching the beavers with my horse, Amadeus, fishing for the legendary small mouth, and re-reading Arthurs journal by the fire. Like that is ULTIMATE cosy gaming.

and it never gets boring and i never have to feel ashamed of my playstyle or ability. unlike other so-called cosy games where i just feel sh*tty because i can't get my island to be as nice as everyone elses or i don't have the prettiest custom content.

its easy to spend hours, days, in Red Dead without even playing "properly". I've been playing since the game released and I'm still discovering new and unique spots on the map, still enjoying all the little mundane chores I have Arthur do and hearing new conversations at the campfire.

Point is that tbh i forgot my point but also Red Dead Redemption 2 should be considered a cosy game and i would choose it over any other.

Succession Preference: Dating A Gamer

Requested: Hii!! Is it cool to request in a succession headcanons with the roy trio (shiv, roman and kendall) with a gamer!s/o? Maybe they could be like in their early twenties or smth like in college years - anon

A/N: I've kinda been putting this off because tbh the only games I play is Animal Crossing and Mario Kart 😅 I feel extremely under qualified to be writing this lol, but I didn't want to turn it down!! I'm also including Connor because why not :P I'm sorry if I get anything wrong!!! Feedback is always appreciated 💜💜💜

Connor definitely wants to play alongside you. He likes older games and games you play in an arcade. It was one of his favorite places to sneak off as a kid when Logan forgot about him. New games with new consoles are a bit of a jump from that, but he's eager to learn. It takes him a long time to catch on and he's always got questions, but you never mind. Mostly he likes watching you. You're quick, you think on your feet, and you make it look easier than it is. When Connor gets stuck on a level, he goes to you immediately. He doesn't like getting stuck and hates getting defeated by the boss level. He shares your enjoyment of it, even if his games are a bit more pixelated and a lot easier to beat. He's always surprising you with the latest game knowing how happy it makes you, knowing it'll make your day.

Kendall likes the mindless games he can play on his phone. He understands the escapism completely, checking out of the real world for a little while to play a character who can do and say whatever in a (usually) better and far more interesting world. He sits beside you when you play and watches, giving you advice. He's definitely going to play alongside you and is a sore loser, though your kisses make up for it. He plays video games with his kids and remembers being taken to the arcade with Connor as a child. It's something he particularly enjoys, but rarely has the chance to play them. He likes that you share the same interests, that you find such joy in it. It's something you can do together that makes him feel like a little kid again. It's rare you get to see him wear a smile so genuine.

Shiv doesn't really understand. She never really got into video games, she never saw the appeal, nor was she allowed to. She'd always been told that her hobbies should have a greater purpose and not to do them just because they're fun. She doesn't disregard your enjoyment though. In fact, it makes her so happy to see you so happy, to break a new record, to get to the next level, to talk to the group of friends you've made, etc. She'll stand behind you and ask questions, watching you, though she swears she doesn't understand and isn't interested. You offer her the game console if she ever wants to try it, but every time she politely declines. She still has it ingrained in her head that hobbies should look good on an application or be helpful in the workforce, not just for fun, for enjoyment. She can't let herself have fun for the sake of fun, not yet at least.

Roman would never dare admit to it, but he really enjoys the kinds of video games that are slow paced and lead a very simple life, like Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, etc. The more violent ones make him jump and he can't stand all the yelling and noise. He watches you play a lot, sitting beside you, making fun of you. You nudge him, laughing, telling him that he's distracting you. Roman never gives your hobby a second thought, it's just something you do, something you enjoy. He'll stay up late with you and blame the games for missing his alarm, though he's all smiles so you know it's not serious. If you do play more of those horror, violent games he just excuses himself, busying himself, not wanting to make you stop, but not wanting to listen. He loves to see you so happy, especially when you get to the next level or beat the big boss. He's all sarcasm and jokes, but really it makes him happy to know you are.

ACTUALLY!!! While I'm thinking about it, here's some stuff I would greatly appreciate in the next animal crossing

- Overlapping rugs (just think it'd be cute tbh)

- Villager gossiping (about me, about each other, about anything)

- Celeste museum exhibit

- More diverse dialogue, if we can't have villager stories or more in-depth personalities.

- I want Harv to live in my little town so bad PLEASE!!!!! I NEED HIM!!!!!!!!

- Special characters that weren't in New Horizons! I didn't get the chance to play any older games unfortunately, so there's a lot that I missed that I wish I had access to. Like the pelican trio!

- Mini games!! Solo mini games! Group mini games! Play with villager mini games! Play with amiibo mini games!

- I'm fine with tools breaking, and I love crafting, but it's a bit silly to me that golden tools break, so if we could take that one part away that'd be fantastic.

- Perfect fruit! More fruit! Tropical fruit!

- I heard that Tortimers island was a lot of fun! It'd be cool to experience that.

- More game references instead of just Mario. (please add waluigi to the Mario stuff too... please)

- This one needs a bit of explaining, but customizable warp pipes. If two pieces of the same color link together, then you could have a set of green pipes, yellow pipes, red pipes and so on for more options to explore the town or island or whatever it is.

- What if we appeared in an abandoned town and we had to restore it? That could be fun!!

- Caves. The children yearn for the mines.

- Please keep crafting, I really like it

- I think in pocket camp there's a thing to change the color of your camper or something. If we could have something like that for what is the equivalent to the airport, that'd be awesome.

- It would be SOOOOOOO fun to customize resident services or the shops or the museum to fit whatever vibe people are going with for the islands.

- I feel bad that Mr Nook is getting bugged all the time while Isabelle is getting super ignored.. What if she were in charge of bridges and inclines and stuff while Mr Nook just had housing stuff. That way their responsibilities were more evened out. I never talk to Isabelle anymore..

- I'm gonna be honest, I like the slow terraforming because it gives me time to think. But everyone else wants the fast easy terraforming and decorating of HHP, so if we could have a mode for that, that'd be sick.

- Oh!!! For some reason, I REALLY want a 360 camera option. I want to see the town how the villagers do. Live there how my character does. Explore it like everyone does. That'd be awesome if there was a first person 360 cam. Pleeeeeeease

- I know this is gonna funk with gameplay, but. I want the museum and resident services to be able to close. My poor Blathers, Dodo brothers, Mr Nook, and Isabelle are horribly overworked. Give them a break! (This is fully just a me thing, I've been pretending it closes and just not going in at certain hours of the day. Yes, it makes my life harder, but it makes my imagination happy.)

- For the tool ring tools to LIVE on the tool ring, rather than my inventory. A whole row of my inventory does not need to be filled with this nonsense if a tool ring actively exists. It doesn't make sense to me.

- I want to be able to choose what rooms to add. I want my back and left side room and a basement. That is it. I do not want anything else. I want my house to look like the villager houses. It makes me sad when it doesn't look like them. And I want to be able to upgrade my storage without tacking on a new room.

- If a villager asks to go, and you say no. The next time they ask to go, they're telling you they're moving out instead. I like that they can't move out without the bubble consultation though.

- Can I have more clutter or smaller sizes for objects so I can put multiple in one square? And can I put objects on my bed? Can I post up pictures I take in my house? Can I give villagers my photo when they give me theirs? Can I give my friends my photo?

- More sizes for custom designs. Like two block tall designs for example.

- Can I decorate trees myself? I want to participate..

- Can the holidays be bigger? I heard that Toy Day in New Leaf was a lot of fun..

- Can I get a cuter title than "Resident Representative"? I don't think I want to be a mayor, but I don't want something that big and bulky.

- Can I change my character name later in the game? I had to reset my island for the first time because of my transition. I'm sorry Punchy.. You were such a good friend.. I'll get you back..

- Can we use wheelchairs and bikes to move around? They're already in the game. And what about other disability inclusive things. I want canes and hearing aids and walkers and such.

- Can I display backpacks without the mannequin thing? I don't like it. It doesn't make sense. It doesn't have arms. How is it staying up. Just let me put them on the floor!

- .... pride flags? perhaps?? maybe just a little??

- Can villagers actually do stuff? Like shake trees, catch bugs and fish, talk to Isabelle, post on the board, Anything! I want them to be able to live their little lives while I'm living mine..

- I feel like I already said this or something similar, but more villager drama.

- If I could have a way to make my island a certain season all year round, after I already experienced all of them, that would make me so very happy.

- More Harv. Just more Harv. He's my favorite please I need more Harv.

- Can I actually have a Harv figure amiibo? maybe with a little yellow bird or something?? Please..

- More wildlife! Like little real birds. Real squirrels. I don't know..

- There was someone on Tumblr who had a list of actually beneficial things for the museum and general game with proper examples. That too. That whole post. All the posts that I like but don't fully remember the ideas and / or don't want to blatantly steal those ideas. Look at them!

- Let me work for the special characters. Let me do errands for my villagers. Give me a job at the shop. At the cafe. At the museum. At resident services. At the airport or train station or post office or whatever. Let me do tasks for Harv. (Give. Me. More. Harv.) Let me complete little chores for villagers!

- I heard that you could get little tiny model dinosaurs through Reese or Cyrus, can I have that? Oh! And clothes customization!

- An in game catalog that shows you how far you've gotten or what you're missing.

- For the little photo idea for the walls I had earlier, if we could run them to Harv and have him print them out for us!! Maybe??? And can Harv come to the town or whatever for ceremonies and take a picture and give you the print afterwards? Can he have a general photo service as well as photopia? He's my favorite little man..

- More villager types! Like bats! They're a pretty popular request. Or more personality types? Oh! Or if villagers could actually form connections and friends with each other? (Although that might mess with a few headcanons people have for their animal friends..)

- More convenient friend finding, instead of having to return home in between people you meet. And an easier way to invite people to your town or travel to their town.

- Special character houses. Give Mr Nook a house. Give Blathers a house or a little museum apartment. Give Isabelle a house. It isn't fair that Blathers has to sleep in his museum!

- Can I please place things on partition walls? Or set more than one accent wall?

- Better animal tanks. Some of them just aren't healthy or realistic. I get that it's mainly to just hold until you get to Blathers, but what if I want a little Betta Fish pet? That tank is not sufficient! It does not have the proper enrichment a betta fish needs!

- More flower types! I want to put sunflowers by Goldie's house.

- What if I could change the placement of doors and windows inside my house? Just.. think of the possibilities. It's great.

- Please let me build a conversation pit in my house.. And please let me craft bridges.. and please let me make a little deck with tiny steps..

- Can we add sounds to custom designs? What if we could make them have the same sounds as the in game pathing? That way my deck path sounds like the wood or my tile path sounds like the brick or stone.

- Can.. can I put custom designs on my tool belt? Like a funky umbrella my friend made, can I put that in my little ring?

- More furniture throughout the decades. I want a cute little 70s, diner style fridge.

- Can I see people's passports in their dream address? Please..

I'm gonna stop here before I go on another ramble about Harv. I know most of this won't happen, but I just wanted to get my thoughts out there. PLEASE tell me your ideas or what you agree / disagree with. I'd love to hear.

I do have a few mcs, but my main one is Sly, the worst guy you've ever met

His normal playthrough traits are Keen Eye and Street Smart, I just started a hardcore one with him though with extra Book Smart

He's a first year associate in a big law firm in Davenport, Iowa. Would leave tomorrow if he could — he might be good at reading people, but he's so focused on good impressions that he never really connected with anyone. So pretty much he's just spending all his time in a shitty job, sleeps two and half hours during the week and the entire day at weekends, and has no family or friends other than Truck. The first half day he spent in the Holler he almost considered moving there as soon as he paid off the debt. By now he's a wreck questioning all his morals (doesn't help that he was best at finding loopholes to let employers get away with shit! If he survives this week, as soon as possible he's switching to help the employees. Totally. Uh huh) and just generally trying to figure out if the two deaths that already occured are more of his fault or some outside force. He even stopped wearing clean clothes for gods sake. Will have to change that though because pretty sure those are a bit bloody now. From the matricide

My other mcs are:

Cain [it/they/he] (dedicated hardcore mode guy), with mystical, powerful build and street smart traits. They live in a shack in someone's garden and don't know what it's studying at the community college . I think . It's been a moment . He prides himself in being sort of an asshole but they do ultimately do the right thing whenever it's possible

Ashton [she/her], powerful build and booksmart, lives in the flooding basement and works in a chain coffee shop. She'd love to move somewhere closer to nature, but for now La Crosse has to do — especially since she's already made plans to leave with Kaneeka

Last one is Seraphine [they/them] and they're my official asshole playthrough I just started. Speak with animals and hot combo, they do whatever is most entertaining to them because honestly if you speak with animals that's clear sign you're god's favourite. Unfortunately I feel bad about being an asshole so haven't gotten to the living situation yet

For now — first episode Duke or Gretchen. That's mostly bc I played with a bunch of buddies after my first playthrough, so I've seen the aftermath of some decisions before I had to make them myself

In my original playthrough I only really had to make that first choice — keen eye spared me the mines (tbh would probably be harder for me), and bc rosalina was uninjured i didn't really feel it's crucial to save her house . And episode four I went in blind and really thought I could fix him (spoiler alert. Bad idea). So I didn't take the tranqulisers to not break Reese's trust, and just sorta didn't have a choice at last

A strong contender would be episode four in my latest playthrough though, I technically knew what was gonna happen but man locking him up sucked

So I'm kind of in love with Coral Island, and I wish I could play it more... (But I need to edit Geckos and finish my library books first.) It has some quality of life stuff that I so wish games like Animal Crossing took into consideration. Like, crafting isn't perfect, but even though my seaweed is in my storage box at the farm, I can craft it while I'm diving or in the cavern. Buuut if I want to get a remodel or update equipment, I have to have those items on hand/in my bag. (And I don't really love that they keep the tools for 1+ days. So far I've never waited more than 2 days, but... well, we'll see. I'm hard pressed to part with my net for a couple of days when I use it religiously lmao) Another one I really like is that it tells me if I've donated or offered items when I glance at them in my inventory, and it'll even show that something can be donated/offered. This is super fucking helpful for me. I love bulking up my museum, but it's nice to just drop it in the donation box after checking that I haven't donated it already. No ten fucking dialogue boxes from Blathers. (I love Blathers, but goddamn, AC is really bad about characters not shutting the fuck up over little things. GULLIVER.) This game is massive and gorgeous and the music for diving especially gets me so wrapped up. I gotta thank a game that lets me dive without being terrifying for me. I freaked out about some of the aquatic stuff about the cloud sea in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, especially the tunnels through the cloud sea that had the fish swimming above my head. For the record, I have a rather bad phobia of fish that sucks bc fish are pretty! It's irrational af, it's a phobia duh, but it bums me out that I can't appreciate fish IRL or in most games. But in Coral Island, I find it really calming and diving is one of my favorite things to do. Catching sea critters and exploring and cleaning up the trash is all very soothing. (Did I mention the music?) I don't seem to be keeping up with the farming much bc I'm so busy trying to dive and catch things and forage and break rocks and I love the little sea dragon Naga and omfg the spirits are so cute, I could squish 'em. Oh, and the merfolk designs? A+ Love the diversity of the farming aspects, love the wild seeds tbh (they're so fun and nice little suprises come out of them!), and I just... I'm in love with everyone, including people who are not marriagable. Oof. It's unusual for me. In Rune Factory and Story of Seasons and other farming games, I usually don't really go, "I want to date you!" I just pick a favorite character. (Okay, lies. In RF4, I wanted to fucking marry Ventuswill, and it wouldn't fucking let me. And yes I wanted her dragon form, we're not gonna talk about the loli form.) (I might date Raj, I'm super into them and got a scene where they were talking about barely staying afloat, so now I keep trying to buy something daily whenever I remember, even though I'm sure it doesn't make a difference. I want them to be happy, also they are so hot. ;A; ) I could ramble forever about the cute little sea critters... I suck at fishing in this game, I updated my fishing rod finally (didn't realize where I needed to go, I'm really bad about socializing and checking out the shops on the regular) so hopefully that makes it less painful... XD; Okay, time to go work on my library books so I can return them asap (esp since I may have treated myself to some indie spanking erotica books with my Trans Lives Fest money...) :')

#basically Coral Island is taking over my life when I expected FF7 Rebirth to do that #...which it will when I have more free time to actually play for more than 30-50 min at a time

Not missing a chance to lore dump on Final Fantasy 16 because it’s really good. Basically the world is fuck because there this thing called Blight where where area around it it’s just dead. No planets, water, or animals live in it. So the six kingdoms fight over resources and politics. There people with magic called Bearersthat don’t need Mothercrystal but they treated like slaves in worse possible way and die of the use their. There also Dominants which people that turn into Eikons which old summons from the other games that have giant monsters. The story is super dark(first rated M Final Fantasy game and darker in my opinion 6 and 15) but it has good story, good characters and really good gameplay.

So...it's sorta like the World of Ruin from FFXV and the Scourge? Just without the constant darkness? I sorta vaguely know the astrals change each game, so it's like the same 'universe' but different realities is what I sorta think of the Final Fantasy ones since they seem to have inter-connected lore but only with those guys.

Tho tbh I never really got into Final Fantasy-a few years back I tried to play the one with Lightning, but it took up an obscene amount of my pc storage and the first ten minutes were boring af so I gave up and deleted it. Tho I do know Lightning was like a...celie slave thing or something??? I only vaguely know they were like rebelling or something and the planet died but yeah don't quote me on that lol

Most I got into was FFXV but I just watched the playthru's online 🤷 and read about the drama behind it, like the devs saying women couldn't be in the main team 'cause they'd fuck up the dynamic and the development hell it was suck in for years.

Like, I certainly know of Cloud and Sephiorth (or however tf you spell his name) but mostly 'cause gifsets for the FF games cross my dash from time to time and occasionally pop up in my youtube one. With FF 16 I've only seen it like three times on my dash and that weird video with the bald guy and bad music after he yells at everyone lol which I've seen as odd considering how much the other ones would pop up on my dash.

I rode horses for like five years, but it was expensive and the culture was bougie and I hated it. At school I played field hockey and softball just because we had a sports requirement (I converted to full-time Theater Kid as soon as I possibly could)

What’s your favorite Sims death?

When they get squished by a satellite while cloud or stargazing, although getting eaten by a cowplant is the runner up.

Alpha CC or Maxis Match?

I have no coherent style. If it's pretty and I like it, I use it. I typically like to keep it more cartoony and away from the uncanny photoskinned stuff, though. That legitimately scares me. ૮₍˶Ó﹏Ò ⑅₎ა

Do you cheat your sims weight?

No, but fitness is important to me personally IRL due to mental health benefits, so I like to keep them healthy too.

Do you move objects?

Totally, all the rugs, curtains and blinds have to be perfectly centered.

Favorite Mod?

My favorite gameplay mod is this one but the one that has saved my sanity is this one. I don't use any adult-oriented mods, I even leave the censors on TBH- I have no desire to see pixel butt.

My first game was The Sims 2 base game! The big one, with the four discs. I still have it, actually.

I'm a big D&D nerd, so I made one of my characters as a sim. He's a dryad and his name is Wisteria Vines. I'll be re-uploading him soon. :3

Yes, she is always friends with all of her neighbors, but I'm going to be doing a legacy with her for the first time soon since I've never done that. ^^;'

I really love the vampire/countess hair from NIghtlife, but I use a mod/replacement to remove the headpiece. Before that, it was the hair that Angela and Lilith start the game with.

Favorite life stage?

Toddlers, I love kids! I'd have some real ones if I could.

Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay?

I love building and giving the houses as much detail as possible with just Maxis items, but I really love the raising multiple generations aspect too, so both.

Are you a CC creator?

Yes, but only recently. I prefer making Sims characters for other people to play with but I also really enjoy making eyes, I just love eyes in general. They are the windows to the soul, after all!

Do you have any Simblr friends or a Sim Squad?

I have a couple of Sims friends! I actually met my longtime online friend @littleballerina through The Sims 2 when we were in middle school. We've been friends for 16 years this year. @furbyq is pretty cool, too! I'm up for making more Sims friends as long as they don't act creepy. :P

Do you have any sims merch?

Nope. I'm hoping to change that, but I don't want people to think I like The Sims 4 LOL. Gross!

Do you have a YouTube for sims?

Err, kinda? I plan to just put a bunch of game-related (Animal Crossing, Life is Strange, Sally Face, Undertale, yada, yada...) junk on it. I plan to make Jaydee-esque Sims music videos over the winter because it'll be freezing this year. I haven't posted anything yet, though. T^T

How has your “Sims style” changed throughout your years of playing?

Just a little bit, I went from entirely out-of-the-box-vanilla to vanilla with sprinkles and now my Sims look kinda like they're from Silent Hill 2 or something. I'm pretty sure James Sunderland is actually running around in the townie pool somewhere.

How long have you had Simblr?

The end of 2017, I think? Probably better to just go with 2018. Life whacked me over the head with the responsibilities stick so I was just recently able to come back after 3.5 years.

How do you edit your pictures?

I don't, really? Aside from resizing them and brightening them a little, I mean. I just use the default photos app that comes with my computer.

What expansion/ gamepack is your favorite?

My favorite expansion pack is totally The Sims 2: Pets. I can finally live out my dream of being a crazy cat lady!

my favorite animal is a tie tbh. i love doberman pinschers (specifically red dobermans) and also rabbits :3 i relate very heavily to both dobermans (and all dogs tbh) and rabbits, but i also love deer!! so i guess the answer is dogs, rabbits, and deer!

i do play video games!! i just don't play them super intensely bc i didn't grow up with them.... right now i've been playing stardew valley cuz my dad introduced me to it & my bf has been telling me i'd love the game for like a year now.... i think if i had to pick a fave there'd be a few in a tie. i really love stardew, but also animal crossing, and a game called chicory: a colorful tale. chicory is super fun!! if you'd never heard of it it's a game about a world where one person is the wielder of a paintbrush that can color in the entire world and your character is the new wielder!! i highly recommend it bc it literally made me cry

Are you named after anyone? Not that I know of! My mother wanted to name me Josephine, which I would have loved, but I'm very fond of my name.

When was the last time you cried? I don't remember tbh. Recently, but my short term memory has been foggy lately.

Do you have kids? No. I don't know if I ever will. Part of me would love to, but I'd need at least one other person to help raise them, ideally two more. But how do you go about building a polycule in this day in age when you live in a sparsely queer area?

Do you use sarcasm? It's not uncommon. Unfortunately I don't have the best handle on my tone sometimes, so I try to be mindful of it.

What's the first thing you notice about people? Manner through expression. Whether someone is open or hard, or closed off, abrupt or friendly.

What's your eye color? Light brown. I'll always remember a past job during the height of mask-wearing where Percival (TGGT's namesake Percival) realized I had such light eyes, and he was like, "I didn't realize you had colored eyes, I thought they were black/dark [like his]"

Scary movies or happy endings? Happy endings. I'm a baby about scary movies.

Any special talents? Singing. I'm a mezzo soprano who was a child prodigy (trained by an opera singer since age four--she taught exclusively teenagers and up and never had taken a pupil in the single digits, let alone that young).

Where were you born? In my home state, New Hampshire.

What are your hobbies? Writing is my main one, but I've actively returned to reading and I'm so glad about it. I also video game frequently, notably fantasy rpgs like Dragon Age and the Witcher, as well as Hades and Animal Crossing (always down to swap friend codes, I have two islands and I'm in terraforming hell on one of them)

Have you any pets? Three kitties! Indy, Eurydice, and Napoleon. A Norwegian Forest cat, and two ragdolls.

What sports do you play/have played? Basketball in middle school but never on a team.

How tall are you? 5'5.

Favorite subject in school? English/language arts.

Dream job? Not uncommon here I'm sure, but to be a traditionally published author successful enough to provide for myself without another job would be amazing. Other than that, a corporate position within Barnes & Noble or Lush, maybe.

podcasts I'm listening to (and not)

In 2023, I began to listen to lots of podcasts during my daily commute. Here’s a list of the ones currently in my queue. I’ve found I tend to prefer fun stories and comedy.

Murphy’s Inc. - this is about a company that owns a Time Machine and uses it to go back in time to find items for wealthy clients. The first season they’re trying to find an amulet owned by Erik the Red. My main complaint is the characters don’t seem to like each other much which detracts from the overall vibe, but it seems wholesome overall  and I'm enjoying it.

Mission to Zyxx - a sci-fi story about a misfit team going on diplomatic missions to weird planets. It's improv and there’s a big focus on special guests for each episode which never lands or works for me personally, but I love the main cast and their interactions continue to be entertaining even in season 4 where I'm at now.

No Such Thing As a Fish - a comedy podcast where people from qi.com talk about fun facts they learned during research for their other shows. 

The Mansfield Mysteries - a high-class mom and daughter duo solve murder mysteries among the upper crust of their hometown. There is a focus on distinct character voices which is hit or miss tbh.

Welcome to Night Vale - my favorite podcast of the bunch. It’s difficult to explain Night Vale, you kind of have to experience it. Essentially, a radio host talks about the news in Night Vale, but it’s always things we would consider unusual. Like, a sentient glowing cloud going over the town and dropping dead animals all over everything. A football player at the high school grew a second head. Things like that. The storytelling is well done, and the stories develop so naturally, it’s very fun to listen to it all play out. And the music direction is wonderful too. 

Beach Too Sandy, Water Too Wet - a comedy podcast where the hosts find funny reviews to read in a dramatic way. Just mindless fun.

Stellar Firma - A comedy sci-fi about a firm that designs and builds planets for wealthy clients. It stars Trexel Geistman, who is a self-absorbed drunk who never comes to work on time, and his long-suffering assistant, clone David 7. David 7's survival depends on the success of their designs but Trexel always has horrible and outlandish ideas. So it's kind of about how David 7 slowly grows into the role and begins to manipulate Trexel into doing better. ...Kind of.

Inn Between - short episodes about a team of adventurers, and, well, their adventures in a fantasy world. I normally don't enjoy 4th wall breakage but here it's harmless fun. I like Betty the most.

Hey Riddle Riddle - a trio of comedians go through riddle books and come up with better answers and make fun of the riddles

DUST: Chrysalis - after the apocalypse caused by an alien invasion, only one human survives. He manages to combine himself with machinery with one goal: revenge.

Mysterious Universe - two guys talk about conspiracy theories and paranormal experiences. Captivating storytelling more than anything, whether any of it's true or not never crosses my mind tbh

Finished listening to!

EOS 10 - wonderful podcast, it has a rough start but I really enjoyed it. It's about a newbie doctor assigned to space station EOS 10 and the quirky cast of characters he meets there. It does have an overarching plot but the focus is mostly the rapport between the characters, they really work well together.

The protagonist reminds me of Pleck in Mission to Zyxx and his boss reminds me of Trexel in Stellar Firma. 

 Here are some I've dropped and why.

Sidequesting - I really loved this one! It features an ace wanderer in a fantasy world, helping people whenever they can, and has a lot of queer rep. But the last few episodes in my queue focused too hard on crossovers with other podcasts and made them... not fun... so I lost interest. 

Wolf359 - This one's popular and often recommended to anyone looking for sci fi. Eiffel was really funny and plot-building was an enjoyable slow burn. However, about half-way through it dropped all the humor for total seriousness which is not what I listened to this for, so I dropped it. 

Radiation World - I just didn't like it.

Hello From The Magic Tavern - something rubbed me the wrong way in this one, even though one of the characters is the creator of Hey Riddle Riddle. I think it might've been one-too-many improv podcasts and I was tired of the format after Zyxx. I may return to this at some point, maybe when I finish Zyxx.

Pod to Pluto - while it wasn't bad or anything, my heart goes out too much to the protagonist for me to enjoy it. 

The Mysterious Secrets of Uncle Bertie's Botanarium - the protagonist is an asshole and that's the point, but there was dismemberment humor in ep 2 and I just can't.

The Amelia Project - love the idea (an organization that you pay to fake your death in a dramatic way) but it's already 4th wall breaking in episode 9 I guess they're already out of ideas ... ?😅

ARS Paradoxica - too overdramatic, the dialogue where person a says something, person b repeats it as a question, person a repeats it again, it's just too boring!!! I wish podcasts would Stop Doing That. Wolf359 did it a lot too which is another reason I don't feel bad dropping it.

Rabbits - it's meant to be interactive and I'm way too lazy for that. I listen to these while driving, you know?

Ghosts in the Burbs - not bad, but it was pandering so blatantly to suburban moms that I could not relate at all 😂

Hi! Your Hivecraft server looks really interesting! I've seen someone play on a server modded with what is essentially a first person rpg version of Sburb, but I've never seen anyone do an Alternia based map before! That's really cool!!!!! I have a few questions about it tho:

1. Will you be able to choose if you're a Human or a Troll?

2. If you can, will you be able to choose your blood colour as a Troll? Or is there some kind of mechanism for that?

3. Will Trolls have lusii? And if they do, can you choose what they are?

4. Will the server be private?

5. If it's not, will it be only PC accessible or will there be PC and Mobile versions?

6. Will you add the Minestuck mod or is this more of a 'Slice of Life, Living on Alternia' kinda thing?

7. Any unique resources like Sopor Slime?

8. Will there be any Persterchum or Trollian-like thing on to allow players to communicate?

9. Even if there isn't, can the players still have speech quirks?

That's all of my questions for now! Hopefully you'll have time to answer them!

Thank you! I've heard of people doing stuff like that but I was always more of a fan of the alternia themed world building etc. This is my first time playing Minecraft though so this project is sort of a learning experience.

Lots of good questions here so I'll do my best to answer

1. I don't think that's something I'm gonna manage for people, they can change their skins if they want or make custom models but I'm not sure that I could implement that for other people myself

2. As far as I know I don't think Minecraft has any sort of blood effects unless a mod or resource pack is installed but I don't have anything like that here so far. I AM planning to make some placeable items that look like blood splatters in different colors though

3. I can make mobs of lusii in the future that just act as animals do in game so I'm sure people could tame them and give them name tags so they don't despawn. I've already made some purple bees and I do wanna play with custom mob models later

4. I think I'll probably make a discord for it later where I can see how many people are interested and get it opened once things are more built out. It'll be open publicly then but I don't wanna pay for server hosting every month so it can only be open if I'm actually online

5. I think Minecraft in general is capable of cross console play?? I could be wrong but I'm working on PC so idk how well mobile would work especially with resource packs

6. I've never heard of that mod before tbh but I'm trying so far to not use mods and only use resource packs I'm making because that way everything can be server side and people don't have to download to join. This might change depending on what I wanna put in though. I sort of imagined more as a "slice of life thing" in survival mode. Just a fun alien sandbox for people to play in

7. FUNNY U SAY THAT I did TRY to make a sopor liquid in MCreator and technically succeeded. It had its own properties and everything

Unfortunately, MCreator only works on 1.19.2 and I've been making everything else on 1.19.3 😔 I tried testing it out in a 1.19.2 world but it just didn't wanna cooperate. I'll probably just have to wait until MCreator updates to 1.20...

8. I think just the current in game chat will be what's used or people can discord each other if they like

9. They can if they type that way sure! I think there's websites where u can basically "translate" whatever you type into a custom quirk but it won't be implemented in the server specifically. People will have to type that way themselves, same as making skins

🏳️‍⚧️ a gender hc- I dooonnnt think she's trans (btw if you do I love that she deserves it) BUT girl does have a lot of body hair. That doesn't mean she's trans or whatever it's normal for anyone to have body hair I just wanna talk about it lol. She gets insecure about her body and such when there's a woman who she likes.

😇 a hc about her religion/lack thereof- okay okay so I don't think she grew up as religious as Spirit did. She probably does have a cross in her house and has faith and shit it just doesn't mean every decision she makes is around it. She totally went to church every Sunday tho.

🧸 a hc about her childhood- Marie was a only child and totally was spoiled to be perfect. She NEEDED to be a straight A student and NEEDED to be straight. Just a lot of responsibilities. Her parents definitely bragged about her looks and how she behaved to the neighbors. By her teenage years and getting puberty her parents would shame her for her sudden change in weight/hair. They were dicks about her chest size. She was a young kid when she found out about her being a weapon. I feel like her father was also a weapon, her parents supported her there and she did a lot of manual things in her childhood.

🫂 a friendship hc- well since I mentioned the Spirit and Marie one last post I'll talk about Marie and Stein. They ARE besties. Stein feels comfortable with her he genuinely likes her!!! Neither of them will ever feel romance for the other or any sexual desire. They're just friends, Marie can talk to Stein freely about ANYTHING (to his dismay....) she cares about him deeply and on her bad days WISHES they could like each other romantically because she really just wants to be "normal" and have a family.

💔 an angst hc- oh boy. She definitely had a crush on Maka's mom. I've talked about this A LOT. Marie is a pushover when it comes to her crushes, she despises Spirit to just be able to do the shit she wishes she could do, he had a family with Kami, a child too, got married and then he threw it away! How could he do that? To the best woman ever, to the love of Marie's life! Marie longs and wishes she could be with Kami. It's quite sad. She'll never get over her first crush.

🪢a hc about her family- I feel like Marie's parents would be disgusted if they knew/found out about her eye. They're very judgy about looks. They want her to be their perfect little girl! She can't grow up and if she DOES grow up she should marry a man.

I always loved the level designs of the Spyro games, they're all so colourful and unique!! I think the ice levels tended to be my favourites ❄️

I dunno if this counts but the I've always found the idea of competitive online games scary, so I've never got into anything like uhhh idk Overwatch or anything like that, I just get too intimidated by the people who are already good at then 🥺

Top five anime

oh god forgetting every anime ive ever watched

5. fullmetal alchemist brotherhood/2003 (very different shows ik but i can never decide which i like more). i really love the world presented in these shows, i love the themes of how human we all are at the end of the day. i love all the ways they play with science and real life alchemy, and all the interesting things that come from it... like how do you even come up with alphonse's entire ordeal? it's so unconventional and yet it's handled near perfectly and we get all the drama and situations that come from a boy being tied to a suit of armor.

4. death note. tbh i mostly agree with what everyone else says about the show, it's super engaging and it's fun to see the game of cat and mouse that L and Light play. both of them are super interesting characters and its fun trying to figure out their plans only to be thwarted. again, it's a non conventional idea, but death note embraces the fantasy aspects really well while being more focused on the corruption of light and him trying to keep himself from getting caught. sadly tho i do have to agree with a lot of people that the latter half of the show with nate isn't nearly as good. i like the stuff that happens like light's dad dying but i just kinda missed L the entire time

3. cowboy bebop. this is a show i might have to digest some more bc it does require more thinking, and i may have to rewatch it to fully appreciate it, but i really enjoyed it! space western is a genre i've never thought about, but it's a very natural combination and I think this show really captured that. I love it's main theme of living in the present, it's kind of unlike most shows i've seen. at first i didn't appreciate not having the backstory of most of the characters since they seemed so important to the episodes, but that's kind of the point. we don't NEED to know every little detail about their pasts. because the show is about the present and how they're coping in spite of their pasts. and it works because it's unfair how these people are still suffering for what happening in their past, even despite everything they've accomplished in the show. it's a very bittersweet show and i enjoyed it. also i love edward. baby

2. trigun (i havent finished it yet though). i can't say much abt the entire thing but i LOVE all of the characters a ton. i love vash himself the most, i love silly characters that are actually extremely genuine and tragic at their core. he's got one of the most compelling backstories i've seen so far and i'm excited to see how his arc concludes in the show. the other characters are also extremely good! i love meryl and milly a lot and how they're actually kind of more of a threat than vash, and how they have a vitriolic relationship with him but grow to genuinely care about him. wolfwood is also a good character to pair up with vash in a lot of episodes because he's got different ideals, and also the gun cross makes me laugh. idk i love the world and these characters and im excited to finish the show.

puella magi madoka magica. im aware that on its own, its probably not nearly as good as these other shows, but at this point the show means a lot to me. I've got a lot of good memories associated with it and its kinda helped me at a time i needed it. i love all five of the main characters a lot and each of the struggles they go through. it's another show where it's world is fully utilized in every way it needs to be for the story to work. i love all the psychological horror elements and how they're presented in an almost uncanny way. the art is beautiful and the witch labrynths are fully realized. this show is so good i can't emphasize enough how dear to me it is as this point
