Yall would not believe how Roland wasn't actually forcing Sofia to call him dad, and in fact, was unsure of what would be more comfortable for her to call him.
You can clearly see how Roland didn't want Sofia to feel like she had to address him as formally as she was with "Your Majesty," but didn't want to force her to call him something she wasn't comfortable with. Especially since he's just getting to know her, Roland wouldn't want to rush Sofia into calling him dad, since she would need time to adjust with having a new father.
Roland was just suggesting some names that Sofia could use, and maybe would've been ok with Sofia using Your Majesty if it was by her choice, but the way she sounded nervous while addressing him made him reassure her that she didn't need to worry about being formal with him.
And I say maybe because "Your Majesty" sounds like something Roland's father might've made him address him as. If Roland had to be formal with his own father, it would've made him feel detached from even having a real father, instead feeling he was being raised by an authority figure. Roland wouldn't want Sofia to feel that way.
Roland would want his children to feel comfortable calling him whatever they wanted because he wants them to know that he respects them and cares for them emotionally.
Me during my first run of BG3: I wish we knew more about the Thorm family! What's their whole deal? Were they fucked up before or after they became undead? What were they doing there?
Me after my second run of BG3, when I took the time to go into the hidden rooms/morgue:
So I'm rewatching the 2nd Missing Milo and I'm at the point where King Pistachion has everyone trapped and the woodpeckers are attacking him right? During thats King Pistachion uses Cavendish and Dakota to hit against the woodpeckers and I just said;
"they can have a little brain damage, as a treat."
About to Slenderman Eight Pages my night because in the time since I last played BG3 and woke up the next day and decided I wasn't feeling it about two months ago I've misplaced my four page long tactical plan to pwn a guy in the pettiest manner in which I am capable, the pages being dispersed throughout my apartment as bookmarks, color tests for art, and more. I know known have been thrown away but I must locate them. I was possessed by a muse of battle when I wrote those after the last time I played and I need them to remember my perfect stratagem to do some stupid shit
i think what really gets me about the idea of babygod jack is like.. you have no real choice but to love your kids. (i wouldnt actually know but. lets not go there).
my point is loving god like a father isn’t as good because love for a parent is unreliable and unstable and likely to have conditions even if it’s only the most extreme kind
whereas love for ones child is usually absolute. irrational even. its just either there fully and wholly or its not at all (again. extreme conditions). so from the perspective of loyalty as it can be encompassed in love and devotion as it manifests in total unconditional connection i just think that.
it works better. tastes better. feels . dare i say.. organic
It's always weird to do a mission where all the Risen are human (or seem to have originally been) and they refer to each other as "brothers" or "sisters" while clearly communicating and comprehending the world around them. Like, I'm sure some of the dialogue is just generic Risen stuff, but I'm always like ... oh. These were real Orrians, weren't they? :(
