Bolbbalgan4 - To My Youth

My commentary: TFL and TLJ is about transition from adolescence into adulthood. This song describes what every teenagers went through, struggling to fit in with the expectations of the others and seeking love and validation from the others. It's not just about puberty in terms of age, but it's supposed to comfort everyone going through growing pains and give them hope. In Korea, we have a saying ‘youth is pain’ or ‘it’s painful because it’s youth’ because our most painful point in our lives is during youth and our youth is bright only when we go through all the pain and suffering and come out to the end.

My commentary: This song reminds me how broken both Rey and Ben is because of family, loving each other will be hard and there will come a time where a version of them won’t always be happy or easy.

My commentary: Absolutely adore this song. An insecure girl singing to a boy, wondering how he could love her when there’s a perfect girl who is as song says ‘I know a girl, she's just your type She's educated, her future is bright. I went to high school and failed one class twice’  This reminds me how embarrassed Rey felt when Kylo commented on her humble root yet still find something worthy.

My commentary: Ben isn’t perfect, he is flawed and while flaws are what makes person perfect, it can be destructive and may not necessarily be the best for Rey, but she’s too deep in it to care. She find the best in them no matter what he do.
