My 13 year old cousin came back from a date with her boyfriend and said, "I can't wait to grow up and spend sunday afternoons with him." At first, I wanted to laugh (after all they're just 13), but I remember being 13 and having the world in my hands. I remember getting excited to talk to someone about my dreams and wishes, and how happy these daydreams and fantasies made me. There's this innocence you can only have at 13 and the world rises and falls and crashes and burns every year... until you do not think about quiet sunday afternoons.

So I asked her about the date and heard her giggle about bubblegum flavored ice cream, and how much she loves this little life. I think she makes me love it too.

I don't see posts all that often about it though I'm sure they exist and are worded much better than this, but an integral part of destigmatizing disability is destigmatizing disability you find personally gross.

People with full bowel incontinence. People that drool. People that stim by picking their nose or eating their hair and skin. People that can't shower or bathe without help, if they shower or bathe at all. And while I hate to put them on this list, I've seen how they've been talked about, obese people are included.

These people are just as deserving of respect and accomodations as any other disabled person.

As this post leaves my tumblr bubble please, if you live in the United States, sign this petition to update the ADA's accessibility guidelines to include mandatory companion restrooms with adult changing tables.

Not me idly rerererererererererewatching Gargoyles and realizing I didn't post the Gargoyles AU shit that took me and @amutantturtleenthusiast (18+ blog) by our throats for... what was it, almost a month????

shit was wild, i'm still unwell

we definitely mangled a few concepts for maximum drama

we hit everything, forbidden love, clan politics, clan betrayal, curses that lasted a 1,000 years, reincarnated lovers, stolen family, unethical genetic research, we had Anton Sevarius and Jasper Barlow for ultra fuckery, enraged glowy eyed action, tender romance, figuring out how the new york subway system works, overseas travel shenanigans when half your party turns to stone in the day, the implications of half your crew turning to stone during the day, hilarious clan-to-clan misunderstandings, revenge quests... hoo.

sir, that's my emotional support ice worm,

621 has a habit of making little critters it seems - Walter isn't sure if he got that from Carla or if he was like that before augmentation, but it has made keeping the place cleaner, so he's not sure if it's something he wants to complain about.

The sea spider's a fire alarm system+extinguisher and the helianthus are actual roombas that can do heavy duty cleaning - it can even clean carpet! The iceworm is also a roomba, but looong, and good for getting into corners and very specific cleaning. It will also come and twine around your legs if you 'call' it :)

I think by the time he's got all these critters, Walter's also taken to dressing down more on base - but he'll always have his harness on, juuust in case. He acknowledges that it's small comfort, but he'll take what security he can haha

621's eyes are pretty bad and they suspect they deteriorated during his time being frozen tuna. It doesn't impact his ability to pilot an AC so its all good! It's a part of why his clothes are the way they are; it lets him use literal plugins. That being said, they're also not great for him, so he usually gets around with a tricked out cane instead.
