Figure skating is as vital to Louis’ identity as his DNA, so when his skates go missing right before the last Olympics of his career there may be a meltdown only vanilla bath salts can fix. Well, that and the stupidly charming hockey player he met on the plane.

Harry’s too old to be the wonder kid and too young to be taken seriously in the NHL. As an alternate thrown in at the last second, he fights to prove himself on the national team at the largest sporting event known to man. Or he will, once he gets off this flight and can focus on something other than the fussy figure skater and his stunningly blue eyes.

A baggage mix-up skews both of their perfectly laid plans for gold, forcing the two to work together as the clock clicks towards the minute they’re expected to shine on centre ice.

It had been curly once. Louis had seen pictures of him innocent with wide green eyes and a wider, bright white, toothy grin. Everything about him screamed privilege.

The sound of chatter and laughter filled the air in the iceskating rink. Christmas music echoed through the speakers. You were surrounded by families, friends and couples having an incredible time together and making memories. Just being there in that moment put you in a festive mood. You were so glad that your girlfriend, Kate Bishop, had invited you on a date here (even though you really had no idea how to skate, but at the time you thought that that wasn’t important and that it would be easy). She had already gone iceskating a few times in the past and was thrilled to be able to do it with her favorite person in the entire world. If Kate could do it, so could you! How difficult could iceskating really be? Well, when you actually got to the rink, you realized that everything was actually quite difficult. Seeing little kids fall over (which might have made you laugh a little at first) was one thing but once you saw adults slide and fall on the ice, you couldn’t help but worry. You didn’t want to make a complete fool of yourself in front of your partner or slip and crack your head open! So there you were, standing against the railing, watching (mostly) everyone glide about and have fun. “Hey, you okay?” A familiar voice cut through the chatter in your head. You turned to properly look your girlfriend in the eye. “Of course!” You grin. “Never better”. Your feet slide for a second on the ice and you go back to white-knuckle gripping the railing. “Then why are you clinging to that rail like it’s your lifeline?” She chuckles. You fidget for a moment. “You’ve never done this before, have you?”. “Yeah… but in my defense, I never got a chance to when I was younger and then I got older and I got busy with high school and-and college and then I joined the Avengers and I didn’t have any time to lea-“ Your rambling was cut short by Kate, who leaned in and kissed you on the lips. “It’s okay if you don’t know how., Y/N. You don’t have to make excuses. I can teach you! It’s never to late to learn, you know” Kate beamed at you, offering you her hands. You hesitated for a moment and then carefully clasped your hands in hers. She helped guide you away from the railing and onto the ice. You stumble and she immediately reaches out to catch you. “Don’t worry, I got you” She gives you a little thumbs-up with her free hand and smiles. God, she must have the cutest smile in the whole world! Kate presses a kiss to your blushing face. You start to relax a little once you find your footing. “Are you having fun now?” She asks, noticing that you are no longer clinging to her like a baby deer to its mother. You nod, still holding one of her hands. Once you got the hang of it, Kate offered to teach you some beginner's tricks. “Do you wanna see me do a totally awesome trick I learned from Clint?” She smirks. “Of course” You smile back, giggling to yourself. You watch as your absolute golden retriever or a girlfriend glides away, takes a few steps back AND… slips and falls onto her butt. You both erupt into hysteric laughter. As you help her up, you think about just how lucky you are to be able to spend this holiday season with her. “I want to spend every December with you” You blurt out, grinning from ear-to-ear. She cups your chin and kisses you so passionately you forget how to think for moment. “Me too, baby, me too.” Kate smiles back, eyes twinkling.
