A Civil Dawn is a nonprofit publishing company focused on ensuring the creation of media which is educational and positive representation for LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent people. We aim to do this by enabling and amplifying creators whose work aligns with our mission and goals. Our current focus is on web comic creators but we are excited for future projects like publishing zines and graphic novels, children's books, and other media from creators who match with our mission and values.
This blog will be used for announcements about the company, reblogs of content from our creators and other posts which align with our goals, and original posts and links to content created within ACD. Please feel free to send asks and DMs but please direct any business inquiries or non-Tumblr related discourse to us at [email protected].

Manifesto
To be a person is to overcome Ick - trauma, fear, pain, and shame. By shining a light and promising hope we will reduce and heal the collective Ick to make the world brighter for everyone.
Because everyone deserves hope.
Mission
Reaching out to hearts and minds to wipe away Ick and empowering great people to reach even farther.
While I lie here in my sickbed coughing my lungs out (and producing copious amounts of cold-related by-products I’m not going to discuss much further), please feel free to distract me by running over to Ebooks Direct and purchasing things. In particular, not all prices have been adjusted-for-2024 as yet, and the one above is still holding at its old rate. Every time somebody buys one, it’s another vote for me to keep the price there…
*Except to say that while “dyspareunia” is probably an uglier word, “phlegm” is right behind it. Coughing wetly.
Sam, Ellie and Danny are all attending a Wayne Gala. Sam is there with her parents and Ellie is there with a semi redeemed Vlad. Danny is accompanying Ellie just to make sure the fruitloop is true to his word.
Ellie decides that night is a brilliant night to be a little shit and Sam joins her as a big middle finger to her parents. Ordinarily, Danny would also join in on the fun, but he is currently trying to avoid someone who's name rhymes with Roose Rain. Apparently he has a habit of adopting black haired blue eyed kids.
This leads to Danny becoming the one thing he never wanted to be. Responsible. Now he has to run around, corralling his friend and little sister before they draw too much attention.
The irony of Endeavor crying and saying he can’t fight his fully grown adult son, but he was completely okay with abusing them when they were children.
My number one classics ick is when a scholar will just insert untranslated passages of Greek and Latin into their paper. good job on the artificial inaccessibility you guys, glad you were able to gatekeep the field so none of those dirty peasants may learn stuff. its just for us cool guys who speak Greek or Latin
I’ll never forget when there was this guy I got along with really well. He was nice, funny, and very polite. He had this sarcastic sense of humor that didn’t feel rude, which I really was attracted to. Not to mention he was Christian!
What ruined this?
He one day told me, outright, that he’s a Neo-Nazi and hates Jews.
So to anyone ONLY watching the show right now and has not read the PJO series, this is a HUGE spoiler for The Last Olympian (Book 5). Proceed with caution.
TW: Inappropriate Age Gap
So I just finished The Last Olympian a few days ago (great series, btw). Loved it, great ending, felt some feels, chef's kiss.
Except one thing:
"Did you love me?"
Luke asks this to Annabeth before he dies.
Like okay, at first I was like, "oh...like a sibling?"
Nah, I wish I could say that I could interpret it that way but the way that Percy describes his reaction when Annabeth says, "You were like a brother to me, Luke. But I didn't love you."
"He nodded, like he'd expected it."
I get Percy and Annabeth are unreliable narrators, but Uncle Rick could have written that in so many different ways to make it obvious Luke meant as a sibling. When we met Luke and Annabeth in The Lightning Thief, they were 19 and 12 respectively. When The Last Olympian ends, Luke is 23 and Annabeth is 16 as of a month prior to the battle.
It gave me the biggest ick and thankfully it has been the only real ick I've had except for certain nit-picks (certain over-done cliches with certain God's, it's literally a me thing), but I hope they don't include that in the show!
