genuinely i appreciate dallon weekes so much. dude wanted to learn guitar but wasn't allowed to get one until his midlate teens, then promptly switched to bass instead. went off and started the brobecks even though his family didn't want him to go into music, and ended up enjoying decent success on the utah scene. met his future wife over myspace, then actually met her for real on very short notice when he needed a place for the brobecks to crash for the night in la after a show. fell in love with said wife over the course of that night and has written multiple songs about it since. showed up to audition for panic! at the disco without knowing how to play any of their songs. came back a little later and got the gig anyway. wrote some of patd's best music after ryan ross. during that time wrote more than one song supporting his wife's bi/pansexuality. stayed tethered to patd for most of the 2010s, then decided 'fuck this' in his mid-30s and left to start a band for shits and giggles that denied its existence for a wholeass year. said band has since grown into a kickass indie pop act and dallon has incredible stage presence, with a voice and range better than brendon urie's in the present day and very gender-envy worthy energy to boot. what an icon

If You Like It or Not by the Brobecks, fucking love this song despite not listening to it much. It just a vibe and is super danceable. (one of the few Brobecks songs on all streaming platforms!! Go stream Violent Things, it's amazing)

For the character ask game, Number 1. The character is Amy Dallon.

Oh god...the hardest question.

I've read a lot of fanfic involving Amy Dallon. Like, probably most of the non-crossover ones on AO3. But I liked her long before that. Hell, I liked her from the first scene she was in. What kind of maniac takes one look at a terrifying villain committing a robbery and holding you hostage with a black widow and goes "Yeah I'll hit her with a fire extinguisher." Actually the bank scene is incredibly underrated as far as Amy analysis goes, but I digress.

As a character, Amy is someone who's striving extremely hard to be something she thinks she's incapable of being (a good person). Her anxieties inform practically everything she does in text, INCLUDING The Car Incident. She struggles with identity, with self, with life. As a queer person from a highly Christian background who (until literally last week) was closeted to my family, I kind of get it.

That's not to say Amy is a queer icon. I mean, she is (gay wrongs and all that), but that's irrelevant to her struggle. I identified with her more than I did with Taylor, which is saying a fucking lot since Worm puts you in Taylor's head for 90% of it. I was basically addicted to her every appearance, and every time I saw her I was ecstatic even as she took the short road to hell. Same, bestie.

10/10, will live rent free in my head til the day I fucking die.

It will forever anger me that Dallon Weekes wrote girls/girls/boys about his bisexual wife and then Brendon Urie went on to claim that he wrote it and said that its about his "first threesome" and women he calls "bar-sexuals." Genuinely disgusting shit and why Urie coming out as pansexual does not erase his dismissal of bisexual women. Girls/girls/boys should be dedicated to Breezy Weekes, especially for the harassment she went through while Dallon was a member of the band from Brendon himself.

Brendon is not and never will be a "gay icon."
