I know they're run by two different streaming services, yet I can't help but get the feeling that the hellspawn shitshow known as 'Velma' will get a full 8 seasons, while Inside Job is left to rot in the dust. It's almost like they don't care about the creators and actual community behind the originals the streaming services create; like they just want to keep cranking literal shit out to get the most money as fast as possible.
It sucks because Adult Animation should not just be stupid, crude, brainless humor with sex and alcohol involved. Sometimes we want just a SHOW that is ANIMATED, like Midnight Gospel, Inside Job, Bojack Horseman, Tuca & Berdie, Bob's Burgers and Disenchantment that have actual plot and meaning alongside the stupid crude humor; but we don't get that. We get terrible Family Guy clones like The Prince, the borderline cp that is Big Mouth, Paradise PD, and the god-forsaken Velma show. This isn't exclusive to animation, either; 'I am Not Okay With This', one of the most iconic shows that has open LGBT+ representation in a normalized way was cancelled, while a shitty show about teens overdosing literally titled 'Euphoria' is still running.
Come on man; the bar is in hell at this point.

Today the Church commemorates Holy Saturday and the Great Vigil of Easter.
Holy Saturday
Holy Saturday is the final day of Holy Week, between Holy Thursday and Easter Sunday, when Christians prepare for the great Feast Day of the Resurrection of Jesus, the Son of God. The day commemorates the Harrowing of Hell while Jesus Christ’s body lay in the tomb.
On this day, Christians believe that Christ "rested" physically in the tomb, but spiritually he performed in Spirit the Harrowing of Hell, his descent into the world of the dead, breaking down the gates of hell and bringing all the faithful departed with him into Paradise. The icon of the day shows Jesus standing on the broken Gates of Hell and taking Adam and Eve by the hand, raising them and all the faithful departed to Paradise.
Christ’s descent into the world of the dead is referred to in the Apostles’ Creed and the Athanasian Creed (Quicumque vult), which state that Jesus Christ "descended unto the dead" and raised up to Paradise all those who had died in faith before his Incarnation, liberating all those who had been held captive by the bonds of sin and death.
Holy Saturday lasts until nightfall, after which the Easter Vigil is celebrated, marking the official start of the Easter season.
The Great Vigil of Easter
The Great Vigil of Easter is the liturgy that leads to the official celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus. Historically, it is during this liturgy that people are baptized and that adult catechumens are received into full communion with the Church. It is held in the hours of darkness between sunset on Holy Saturday and sunrise on Easter Day – most commonly in the evening of Holy Saturday or midnight – and is the first celebration of Easter, as days are traditionally being considered to begin at sunset.
Among liturgical Western Christian churches including the Roman Catholic Church and the the Anglican Communion of Churches, the Easter Vigil is the most important celebration of the Holy Eucharist of the liturgical year, marked by the first use of the exclamatory word of praise, Hallelujah! – Praise the LORD! – (or Alleluia!), a distinctive feature of the Easter season, since the beginning of Lent, when exclaiming Hallelujah is omitted. The Holy Scriptures are read, recounting the story of God’s plan of salvation from the the creation of the universe in Genesis to the promise of salvation as proclaimed by the Prophets and the Resurrection of Jesus as recorded in the Gospels.
The Roman Missal states: "Of this night’s Vigil, which is the greatest and most noble of all solemnities, there is to be only one celebration in each church. It is arranged, moreover, in such a way that after the Lucernarium, or the lighting of the new fire, and the "Exsultet", a song of praise for the victory of the light over darkness and life over death through Jesus Christ. Then comes the Easter Proclamation (which constitutes the first part of this Vigil) when the Holy Church meditates on the wonders the Lord God has done for his people from the beginning, trusting in his word and promise as the great day of the Resurrection approaches. New Christians are reborn in Baptism and the whole Church is called to the table the Lord has prepared for his people, the memorial of his Death and Resurrection until he comes again.
O God, who made this most holy night to shine with the glory of the Lord’s resurrection: Stir up in your Church that Spirit of adoption which is given to us in Baptism, that we, being renewed both in body and mind, may worship you in sincerity and truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

The Flynns
After watching Midnight Mass countless times, and comparing how each character “died”, I realized that Annie, Ed and Riley all died on the same principle, saving others before themselves.  We see Riley burn up right in front of Erin, he doesn't want to be apart of the new covenant on Crockett, and he needs to show Erin what the fate of the island will look like, or better yet the fate of the world.
Ed, in the church when everything starts going down is fighting off at least 3 people so Annie, Warren, Sarah, Erin, Hassan, and Leeza can get to safety.  You see and here him look back at his family telling them to go.  Sacrificing his life for them.
In probably the most iconic, and most loved scene between Annie and Bev when she takes her “life” to distract Sturge and Bev so the kids can get to safety.  All while this conversation between the two of them stem from Riley being a product of his parents.  He absolutely was, grace and putting others first, sacrificing your own life can be something you teach sure that’s what the Gospel is all about.  But doing, actually doing it, actually stabbing a knife through your neck, actually letting people kill you to distract the others, that is real grace.  Thats what the good book says, as Erin so delicately but sternly puts it.
And that is why the Flynns are the best and most wholesome part of Midnight Mass

Selah Celebrates 25 Years With Two Milestone Recordings
Renowned for their impassioned interpretations of timeless hymns and classic songs of faith, 11-time GMA Dove Award-winning vocal trio Selah is celebrating 25 years in Christian music with the release of two highly anticipated full-length recordings this fall. Adding to an unparalleled discography showcasing Selah’s signature take on some of the most popular Inspirational songs of all time, Greatest Hymns Vol. 3 bows October 14 alongside At This Table: A Christmas Album. Both projects—releasing via the group’s label, 3Cre8tive—will be available exclusively at national retail with various singles slated for digital release. Greatest Hymns Vol. 3 Selah’s third Greatest Hymns compilation delivers 13 piano-driven arrangements of genre-spanning favorites. Produced by Jason Kyle Saetveit, the album features such Sunday morning standards as “Blessed Assurance” and “Oh, How I Love Jesus”; an emotive new rendition of the iconic Imperials/Russ Taff anthem “Praise The Lord”; and the “Twila Paris Medley,” a tribute to one of Christian music’s seminal worship singer/songwriters. The project’s forthcoming single, “Put Your Hand In The Hand,” a rootsy, blues-infused cover of the 1970s pop-gospel classic, is slated to hit streaming platforms September 30.
Tumblr media
“I am so excited about both projects we’re releasing this year, but the hymns album is especially close to my heart,” shares Selah’s Allan Hall. “It harkens back to the spirit of our very first album, Be Still My Soul, which was filled with hymns and classics set to simple piano/vocal arrangements. We wanted to involve our fans in selecting the songs this time around, so after receiving thousands of responses with many wonderful suggestions, we narrowed it down to the most requested songs and got to work. I’m pleased with how the project has turned out, and I truly hope our fans enjoy it. This album was made for them with much thought, care, and love.” At This Table: A Christmas Album Continuing a milestone year, Selah is also set to release At This Table: A Christmas Album October 14—their first new holiday recording since the 2002 classic Rose Of Bethlehem. Showcasing a range of modern and traditional songs of the season, the 10-song set was produced by Jason Kyle Saetveit and Chris Bevins. The lushly orchestrated title-cut—co-penned and originally recorded by stage and screen star Idina Menzel—encapsulates the album’s theme, welcoming listeners into a poignantly reflective Christmas collection. The song will be available on streaming platforms November 4.
Tumblr media
“I first heard ‘At This Table’ in a coffee shop and it stopped me in my tracks,” remembers Selah’s Amy Perry. “It so resonated with me because I’m from a large family with several siblings adopted through the foster care system—and now my own family is on a foster care journey as well. No family sees eye-to-eye all the time, but my parents were adamant that no matter the differences, their home and hearts were always open to us. That’s a picture of how Jesus feels about us, too. No matter the circumstance, we are always welcome at His table.” Additional highlights of At This Table include the sacred carols “Away In A Manger (Sweet Melody)”; “It Came Upon The Midnight Clear”; and “The First Noel,” as well as such contemporary Christmas tracks as “The Night That Love Was Born” and “Mary Had A Little Lamb.” Selah – 25 Years Since the release of their watershed debut, Be Still My Soul, Selah has become one of the most beloved groups in Christian music with more than 750 million streams and over 4 million albums sold. The trio’s genre-spanning renditions of cherished hymns and Inspirational classics, as well as their signature originals, have been beacons of hope and healing to listeners around the world for 25 years. “There have been many highlights in our career so far, including performing at Carnegie Hall; singing at the U.S. Capitol and the Pentagon after September 11, 2001; making our debut on the Grand Ole Opry; and headlining the historic Ryman Auditorium,” says Selah’s Todd Smith. “However, the stories of how God has spoken to others through our music mean the most to us.” “We received a letter from a lady recounting a dark moment when she felt she had nothing to live for and was on the verge of ending her life with a handful of pills,” Smith shares. “She cried out to God and said, ‘Jesus, if You are there and if You care, will You show me?’ Her clock-radio alarm suddenly switched on, tuned to a Christian radio station she’d never listened to. Our song ‘Press On’ was playing. ‘When the valley is deep/When the mountain is steep/When the body is weary…In Jesus’ name, we press on…We find the strength to press on.’ In that moment she put down the pills. I’m so grateful that God has used us in His story for the past 25 years.” Selah’s iconic anthems include “You Raise Me Up,” “Press On,” “Wonderful, Merciful Savior” and the multi-week #1 hit, “You Amaze Us,” among numerous others. Comprised of Todd Smith, Allan Hall and Amy Perry, the group has garnered 11 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards—including seven Inspirational Album of the Year trophies—two Gold-certified albums, and eight #1 singles to date. Diary of a Horror Buff 8.29.22
Ugh bitches I just got a new car. well new to me. I am filled with an absense of emotion. Do you ever look at your life and you don't really feel excited for anything just anxious about the new stress that it will introduce to yourself???? maybe theres something wrong with me?
well fuck that heres some gifs of music cars.
Tumblr media
it turns out that I can't think off of a lot of pop songs about driving cars that are also a metaphor for fucking.
anyway fuck this lets talk about what I watched last night.
Tumblr media
Dressed to Kill (1980) dir. Brian de Palma
OK so I didn't HATE this.
but lets be honest it is problamatic.
so dressed to kill is one of those thrillers that came out were woopsie doodle the serial killer just so happens to be trans, (and/or suffering form DoD, they get conflated, (and patholigized), a lot).
So unlike say Silence of the Lambs this one focuses a lot less on the whole tranvestite serial killer bit and is just more about following around a hooker who witnessed the first murder.
also this movie is super fucking horny. It literally starts with a woman fingering herself in a shower, For me it says hey titties in case anyone forgot what they look like. To be honest there is a very deliberate conflation between sexuality and violence in this film thats not subtle. Also a lot of repressed women sexuality but luckily that one chick gets DICKED DOWN before she gets brutally murdered.
This is a giallo-lite thriller with lots of titties, violence, and honestly a lot of stuff that did not age well. So now you know.
youtube
Midnight Snack (2014) dir. David Romero
ok so apparently David Romero is on Tumblr. Badass.
So first can I just say that I love everything about this. The protaganist, the classic style ghost story, his animation style. Like he did a 3d modeled set that he hand animated over I mean who doesn't fucking love that. Mother fucking icon.
youtube
The Clockwork Elves (2020) dir. Nick Cross
"[[Content warning:: Contains flashing imagery, cartoon violence & sexuality]]
The Clockwork Elves could be a pyschotropic exploration of spirituality and death - or it could be a tale of a little goofball hopped up on goofballs. Either way - it's a cartoon."
Ok this was an absolute fucking bop, imagine over the garden wall, ( I've never actually seen OTGW, my ex boyfriend and my desire to do mouth stuff was greater then watching quality television). but set to an acid trap song and trippy visuals.
congradulations this is like a beginners friendly episode of Midnight Gospel.
Tumblr media
ok did anyone ever finish that show, I tried watching it but my brain literally melted.
Tumblr media
ok I still feel bad for not watching it but in my defense my ex boyfriend was really hot.
youtube
LÍNEA 17 (2021) dir. Diego García Figueroa
oh I love a good subway horror. I mean one of these days I'll watch midnight meat train.
So this is a short film anout a young woman in latin america who is riding the subway when the lights flicker and some creepy monster starts stalking her.
this was definetly a great little short film and I had a lovely time watching it.
youtube
Undress Me ALTER (2017) dir. Amelia Moses
Content Warning: Gore, Blood, Self-Harm, Akward Virgin Sex.
We stan an akward queen.
Homegirl is just throwing herself at that dick but like at the same time like relatable like it totally reminds me of the first couple times I've fucked and like its awkward. You either come off to strong, (or like the first time), it takes us watching the entirity of Always Be My Maybe before they kiss me.
I'm just saying if you don't grab my ass by the 34 minute mark I'm doing something wrong.
Tumblr media
this was the only relevent thing that came up when I typed in "Netflix and Chill" which accurate but still.
Ok but actually plot time chick gets that dick and goes and then proceeds to get that pryon disease from Cabin Fever so theres a lot of body horror and gore.
Tumblr media
ok there are not a lot of good clips from that movie on here apparently.
youtube
Limp CRYPT TV (2019) dir. Benjamin Baraad
Honestly fuck the demons thats just how people treat people that have non visuable disabilities.
also I love how this girl is literally dealing with suddenly becoming disabled and her mom is like OMG how did you get a D In math. like fuck your disablities and the things that make you happy.
omfg
"you lied to me alyssa IM JUST HAPPY YOUR FATHER ISN'T ALIVE TO SEE WHAT YOUR'VE BECOME".
WHAT DID SHE BECOME BITCH, SOMEBODY WHOS OVERCOMING STRUGGLES AND UNFAIRNESS IN LIFE. EAT A COOKIE AND CHOKE ON IT.
but also that demon is also kinda a bitch just saying.
youtube
Sinner Circus (2013) dir. Jon Kondelik, James Kondelik
one of my favorite crypt tv shorts.
I will never apoligize for enjoying media in which people get revenge on there abusers.
Also we stan a carnie that speaks entirely in rhymes.
youtube
Occupied CRYPT TV (2015) dir. Mitchell Kerby, Taylor Kerby
"I've been alive 20 years and I still don't know what to do when someone knocks on the door when I'm using it" - that one tweet.
so yeah this is the sotry of a hot guy having to use the bathroom and this rude ghost keeps banging on the stall. Like ghost bruh if you he wanted to cruise he would have sucked your dick by now.
youtube
My House ALTER (2020) dir. Alexander Edep
ok so we love the vibes. surburbia horror vibes and fucked up board game mechanics, whats not to love.
what a lovelingly fucked up movie we stan.
youtube
Carol Anne is Dead (2009) dir. Michael Robinson
ok this is basically a family home movie recreation of Poltergeist, everyones favorite blockbuster horror.
supposedly Michael Robinson "rid[es] the fine lines between humor and terror, nostalgia and contempt, ecstasy and hysteria."
so I assume that this type of strange home video is an intentional post modern interpretation of nostaglia and childhood.
either that or somenbodies random ass home movie just reached cinema status.
youtube
Rapunzel (2018) dir. Hans Stjernswärd
Ok home girl was like sorry I'm just trying to get dicked down and her home girls are OMG but why can't you party with us.
I'm just saying homegirl had perfectly fine prioties.
so as far as I can gather this is a series of films that were meant to be modern horror adaptations of Fairy Tales, with the Little Mermaid being another one of these.
Honestly I'm rooting for these two and will won't to see a feature length movie of this at my next earliest convience.
anyway whores thats all the movies for today. We have two more days of this before the challenge is over.
