Fandom brain rot has gotten to me, Tales of Arcadia Riordanverse AU

Jim is a son of Pluto (rocks is all I have to say about that), he’s at camp Jupiter and became the youngest praetor in a century

Claire is giving me the vibes of a daughter of Dionysus (its the theater thing and the wanting to help Jim with his ‘monsters’ in S1)

Let’s just assume the camps are friendly to start with and such so they meet at some sort of friendly sword fighting tournament

And then fall in love when they perform Romeo and Juliet

Omg the Romans play Montague’s and the Greeks play Capulet’s

Toby’s a son of Mercury (he stole a freaking cop car okay? And also helps many people on their journeys) and is a centurion of like the second cohort

Nana has no clue about the gods but still can see through the mist

Blinky’s basically like Chiron but hangs around camp Jupiter, maybe one of the teachers in the city? He’s human though and a legacy of Athena that moved cross country to go to college and stayed there

Merlin is Zeus but less horny

Douxie, Morgana and Arthur are children of Zeus

Douxie being a prophecy child a la Percy

Morgana being someone like Luke (betraying the gods to fight with Gunmar (who is the Kronos scale threat))

But she also became a hunter at some point, idk why but I have strong feelings about this

Arthur filling the same traitor type roll but later with the Arcane order (Gaea scale threat)

CHB is where all the magic creatures come from and Camp Jupiter is like all the people who are/were originally human

So all the wizards and trolls are Greek and Jim and Tobes are Roman

Eli becomes the Oracle of Delphi

Steve is a son of Freyr but is still alive (no reasoning behind this but him and Magnus having similar vibes)

Aja and Krel are children of Odin (smart and battle-y)

Varvatos had his glorious death and ended up in Valhalla at an older age than Aja and Krel but around the same time, he’s a son of Tyr

Zadra is a Valkyrie

So’s her girlfriend from the resistance who’s name I can never remeber

Izita! That’s her name

The changelings are monsters (as are gnomes, Gumm Gumms, OMENs and the like)

Strickler and Nomura are kind of like Bob in the way that they are swayed to the side of our heroes

But like in a less memory-wipe-y way

Draal is a legacy of Mars and his dad had held the youngest Praetor record before Jim

Aaarrrgghh is a Cyclops that owns a flower shop in New Rome

He and Blinky are dating, duh

Not sure how Nari fits into this

But she’s there and not antagonistic

Archie is the same type of monster small Bob is

But still besties with Douxie

Mary is a daughter of Venus

Idk who Darci’s godly parent is so I’m saying Neptune

The vibes feel right i guess

Coach Lawrence=Coach Hedge

They are the same person I swear

Lawrence ends up dating Steve’s mom still

Actually her falling for two nature based deity-things makes sense

Uhl is a Saytr

Janeth is a Nymph

Barbara is a legacy of Apollo (so is Jim apparently *shrug*)

Why do I also feel like Douxie is a legacy of Apollo as well (oh right its cause he’s a bard)

Okay thats it

Also we can only put thirty tags on things? Huh.

Tales of Arcadia au(aka troll hunters) which is basically just this town in California called Arcadia where just, a bunch of weird shit happens. It follows this kid named Jim who gets an amulet that belongs to trolls and has to fight that. There’s a second series about alien royalty, aja and Krel, escaping their home planet overthrown in a coup, and a third series about an immortal wizard named Hisirdoux(?) who basically interned under Merlin, and a movie. We don’t talk about the movie. They all crossover at some point and it’s confusing but also really cool.

Character concepts ig:

Tommy as Jim lake Jr (the protag of Troll hunters) just because they are so similar character wise

Ranboo as Douxie: it’s that vague y/n energy but also the vibes are perfect

Tubbo as either Toby(for the Tommy friendship) or Krel(for the personality/overall similarities)

Wilbur and Niki as Strickler and Nomura respectively: both changelings (their essentially humans that went through what amounts to torture from a very young age to be able to change into trolls as spies for the evil trolls known as Gumm-Gumms) strickler goes through what is a really cool redemption arc and becomes a pseudo father figure for Jim. Nomura is another minor villain that really just does her own thing, she’s a lot like season 3 Niki just because of how angry they both are? And how willing they are to kill children.

Or a how to train your dragon au idk

I mean we already have a how to train your dragon au, anon, so if you're interested in that, go look for it on the blog!

And it sounds like a very cool concept + character. I, for one, vote for Tubbo as Krel, but as it's an au, nothing has to be 100% one-to-one to the actual show, so we can tweak a lot for the au as needed.

Juliet Dies in This Chapter Four: Denial

Is it forgetting, or is it choosing not to remember?

This chapter takes place after a time skip; said time skip is a minimum of three months. 3Below and Wizards happened already in this chapter; 3Below was largely the same as canon; IDK what canon Wizards will be like so I can't say.

Just as a brief warning, there is a scene that alludes to an eating disorder or at least diet culture. You can skip this scene by skipping over the paragraph that begins with "Mary shoved her".

Also, as a warning, so far this is the only chapter that has made me cry.

Here's the solution to the math problem.

Mary glared at the math equation. She had survived multiple apocalypses – troll, alien, wizardly mashups – and yet she still had to do math. In the past, math got harder, but it didn’t get harder this fast. Couldn’t Miss Janeth show mercy?

Perhaps the fact that her students had survived the end of the world multiple times made Miss Janeth think that her students could handle more. No, they couldn’t, that was a terrible thing to think.

Mary groaned. She had done the equation three times now, and she still didn’t have the answer in the back of the book. Miss Janeth always checked to see if all the work had been shown, despite her students living in an age in which they would always have a calculator. Then again, Mary wasn’t sure if this sort of math could be easily solved with the calculator she had on her phone.

Right now would be a good time for her to have a boyfriend she could text for help, assuming she hadn’t made the mistake of picking a super dumb jock. But no, she had figured out that she wasn’t into dudes over the summer, and she wasn’t going back in the closet just for homework.

Texting in general, though…

Mary picked up her phone; maybe Darci would be able to help.

Wait. No.

No, Darci was too busy throwing a baton at the football game.

Claire, on the other hand, might have free time. Might, unless she was out with Toby and Jim trying to pulverize a goblin or something. Still, she was more likely to be available right now, at least when compared to Darci.

Mary snapped the homework problem and added the caption, “You know how to solve this?”

The fact that she had to scroll for so long to get to Claire felt odd. How had she let their streak die?

She waited, replying to the snaps and messages from Darci, Shannon, Aja, Shannon’s girlfriend whose name Mary couldn’t remember at the moment because her username wasn’t based on her real name, Krel, and Eli. Why did she even have Eli’s SnapChat? When did she befriend him?

Oh, well. At least she was getting cool snaps from Akiridion-V.

She checked to see if Claire had responded – she hadn’t – and watched her friends’ stories. Maybe one of them had posted a solution?

None of them had. Not even Krel, and he liked math. Also, if Claire was fighting goblins or anything then she was doing so alone. Toby and Jim were at the football game, making fun of how Douxie’s hair clashed with the Academy’s marching band uniform

Mary glanced at her math homework. She didn’t want to post anything about her being unable to do her Pre-Calc homework to her story. Let her followers see her flaws? That was something she didn’t want to get out. She didn’t want to post it to the Defenders of Arcadia group chat, either – neither the meme chat nor the legit chat. Heck, the only reason she was allowed in the legit chat was because she was able to get messages to everyone in Arcadia Oaks. Everyone else was able to fight, and more importantly they chose to fight. Mary? She didn’t want to be in the middle of the fighting and lose an eye like Darci had.

Mary opened her regular camera app and took a picture of the problem. She then opened her texting app, and after ten seconds of fruitlessly scrolling through her messages to find the last one from Claire she pressed the “C” on the right-hand side of her screen. She selected Claire’s photo, attached the photo to the message, and captioned it, “Help, please?”

She couldn’t remember what app Claire preferred to contact her on, since they hadn’t texted or snapped in a long time. All summer, and then some.

Mary shoved her phone in her pocket and walked to her kitchen. There was a box of low-calorie, low-fat, low-sugar, guilt-free cookies; she grabbed two and began to eat them. Slowly, in case she later decided that two was too many.

Mary sighed as she walked back to her room and sat in her desk chair. Claire still hadn’t responded. Time to pull out the big guns. Worst came to worst, Claire was fighting or eating dinner or something, and she’d tell Mary that she’d call her back. Or maybe NotEnrique would pick up, but still. He’d let Claire know that she had called. Probably. There was a reason why she wasn’t calling the little gremlin and having him go get Claire for her. Anyways, the fact that Mary was calling and not texting or snapping or whatever form of instant-messaging they were doing these days would be something Claire would consider urgent. She unlocked her phone, her finger traveling to the upper right-hand corner.

Her finger was hovering right over the call button when Mary remembered why Claire wasn’t responding. Why Claire couldn’t respond. Not now, not ever again.

Mary set her phone on her desk, face-down.

Dammit.

Mary was a terrible friend. A terrible person. How could she? How could she have forgotten? How had she forgotten that her best friend since first grade was dead, had been dead for months?

She stared straight ahead for a moment, face blank as her eyes began to moisten. Her jaw started to tremble. The trembling slowed as Mary pulled her lips from her teeth in something akin to a snarl. The muscles in her jaw tensed into an ugly thing she would never let anyone else see. Then the trembling transferred itself to her shoulders. The tension released from her lips and jaw, and they once again began to tremble, with almost the same frequency as the rest of her body. A wet gasp broke free, and then a cry. Mary curled in on herself as more sobs burst out of her. Some of them were loud, and some were hiccupping as she struggled to breathe. She grabbed her hair and pulled at it, not enough to damage it but enough to hurt.

All of them were things she would never let anyone else see.

It was good that she had the house to herself. No one was there to see her utterly break down.

Mary went to the bathroom and was once again reminded that she needed to go buy waterproof mascara and eyeliner. She had run out, and now her cheeks were smudged with black streaks. She grabbed a microfiber cloth, wet it, and ran it against her face. It was soothing, compared to the warmness of her skin. After a few moments, her plain face stared back at her. Without the concealer she had been wearing, it was even more red from her crying.

Mary went back to her room; maybe she could ask Krel for help? He knew math, both the Earth math she was studying and Akiridion math.

Or she could try again, or even look to see if someone had posted a guide online. She didn’t want to talk to anyone right now; she just wanted to finish this problem and watch a movie that wouldn’t remind her too much of the dead girl she had been friends with since kindergarten.

How about a funny drabble of Eli telling Aja about his conspiracy board? Aja is amused and impressed about Eli's devotion to his beliefs(humans are just so funny to her) and tells him that.

Aja watched Eli as he gesticulated wildly, pointing to different spots on the large cork board covering his wall. “...and then when I saw you guys landing here, I knew it! It proved everything here!” But I couldn’t figure out how it linked back to this...” He pushed his glasses back up his nose, and Aja couldn’t help but smile as he continued on. He really had it all put together, didn’t he? Honestly, it impressed her. She had never heard of these trolls or creepers before, but he had managed to piece together the puzzle all but on his own, it seemed. He was determined. “...Aja? You’re not laughing at me, right?” She snapped back to attention, watching the boy’s face start to grow concerned. “No, no! Eli, I would never laugh at you,” she reassured him, grinning. “I am impressed, in all honesty. You must have spent ages making all of this.” He grinned right back at her, puffing up with pride. “Yeah! All by myself, too, even though nobody believed me. But I knew I was right!” She reached out and ruffled his hair. “You humans are so odd... I like it. You remind me of Krel, really— he never stops until he gets what he wants done. It’s admirable.” Eli flushed, preening a bit. “Well, I’m definitely not gonna stop. Not until I figure out what’s really going on with all of this in Arcadia.” “Good, because we’re definitely going to help.”

Do you remember the episode/chapter/scene where you first started shipping 6?

It was never any one episode that had me start shipping Claire and Mary. Rather, I started headcanoning Mary as a lesbian in “The Reckless Club”, and I began planning how I would use this as a character arc for her in my seasonal amulet au. I thought it would be funny if Claire were to react to Mary coming out to her as “if you had come out to me before Jim got the nerve to talk to me I would’ve asked you out because I had a crush on you for years.” I ended up transferring this hc to my view of the canon, that Claire has had an on-again off-again crush since sixth grade, and whether or not she gets over it is entirely dependent on what I’m writing.

What’s your favorite fanfiction for 4?

My favorite Taakitz fanfic is Lup Cons a Goddess into Murdering her Brother (for fun and profit). Despite the title, it’s very sweet.

What’s your favorite fan art/picture for 2?

What’s your favorite headcanon for 1?

I can’t think of a favorite so I’ll just share a headcanon that is a must to me for their relationship: their natural lifespans are about the same. Maybe they both age like regular humans, maybe Jim ages like a troll and Claire has an extended lifespan due to her magic. Either way, one won’t die of old age and the other has to live for centuries after them.

Though I have considered writing a sequel to I Will Learn to Let You Go (I Won't Let Go) whose premise is that Claire will have to outlive a human-again!Jim so she doesn’t have to watch Jim’s body rapidly degenerate in a maximum of 24 months.

What do you like most about the dynamic between the people of 7?

Just how well they work together. Like, Jim and Aja are one of my fave BROTP’s for Tales of Arcadia based on the one episode where they knew the truth about each other which is why I find it odd that I don’t like romantic Aj*m outside of a poly ship, and Jim and Claire definitely have worked well together. As for Aja and Claire, they haven’t interacted much in canon but there’s something about the scene where Aja supposedly hacks the power grid that tells me they’d work together well.

When 9 have sex is it more giggly or more serious?

I’m ace and not that interested in sex, so let me just say my only Glitradora NSFW headcanon is that Catra does something to her claws for safety.

Out of all the ships who do you think have the best chemistry?

It took me forvever to figure out the difference between “best chemistry” and “strongest bond”. I guess Jlairja or Taakitz?

Which ship has the strongest bond?

Jlaireby, hands down.

Which ship do you spend the most time reading fanfiction for/talking/writing about?

Jlaire is definitely the top ship here. However, Taakitz is second for reading and Marynon is second for writing.

Which one was your first ship?

If 6 were to break up, how would it happen?

Oof. Unfortunately, I could see the right combination of Mary’s past as a player, Claire’s perfectionism, and both of their self-esteem issues contributing to a messy breakup where Darci is trying to get them to remain friends so she isn’t awkwardly caught in the middle.

Between 3 and 8, who would last the longest if they were in a zombie apocalypse?

On one hand, Krel might be immune to zombies. On the other, so might Nomura and more importantly, Barbara is a doctor. Thus, Barbmura > Kreli.

Does 7 hide their relationship, and if so, why?

They might hide it from Claire’s parents for a little bit, since I can see them being the least understanding between the various parental figures. However, I don’t think they’d really hide it anymore after Jim becomes a troll? Unless they decided to do something convoluted where it looks like Claire dumped Jim for the “human” Aja.

What is 9′s favorite date to go on?

Do ice cream parlors exist in Etheria? Because I can see glitradora enjoying them.

What’s your favorite canon moment between 10?

Uh... hm... Toby and Claire impersonating changelings at the Janus Order was pretty good.

What do 5 argue most about?

How to best make use of the television.

If you had to pick an OTP which would you chose?

Do I have to? Because I’d have to narrow it down to Taakitz, Jlaire, and Marynon.

What’s the biggest kink that 1 shares?

Still ace, still not interested in sex, still 19 years old so this question is rather awkward for me... I guess Claire counts as a monsterfucker? And that’s not even NSFW, she definitely looks like she finds troll!Jim hot and even professed her love to him.

Do 8 want children?

Not particularly, though Krel and Eli will happily be uncles.

Between 10 and 4, which would you rather become canon?

I mean, Taakitz already is canon, and I’d rather not have to deal with the breakup arcs w/in Tales of Arcadia for Claire and Toby to get together.

Does 2 do much PDA? And does it annoy their friends?

Yes. Draal would like them to get a room, just because this basement belongs to your family doesn’t mean he can’t kick Jim, Toby, and Claire out. Mary finds it cute.

Which of the ships would you say is the most romantic with each other?

“I... was crazy about you, before some weird light told me a story about your one hundred year journey through existence where you were fighting for a century to save the world. I love you, Taako, and at this point, I think that everyone in reality is going to love you after hearing your story, and... nothing’s gonna change that.”

Yeah, I’m going to say that canonically they have the most romance, and the only reason why we didn’t get to watch Taako and Kravitz’s relationship develop more is because roleplaying a romance with your family member must be really awkward (and that is why all of my D&D characters don’t have a love interest.)

How would the proposal between 5 go?

Do you know that one vid of the two sapphic ladies proposing to each other because at the zoo? Yeah, that’s how it goes between Mary and Shannon.

Who cooks more often in 3?

I’d say Nomura would make sure Barbara doesn’t get to cook for both their sakes, but since she’s stuck in troll form she might actually like Barbara’s cooking. That being said, whether or not Barbara likes Barbara’s cooking is another story.
