“Do you think we would’ve met if I hadn’t moved to New York?”

Matt trailed his fingers absentmindedly along your shoulder, turning his head slightly to brush his nose along your cheek as he hummed quietly in thought. 

“I think so.”

The downpour that had opened up above Hell’s Kitchen had lessened to a hushed pattering of raindrops pelting the large window panes in Matt’s living room. You curled further into your boyfriend’s chest, lighty balling a small fistful of the soft t-shirt he wore. The storm had been coming down so hard earlier that you had convinced him to stay in tonight, and you were suddenly worried that its transition into a faint shower of droplets would have him changing his mind about going out.

“How do you know?”

Matt chuckled softly as he wrapped his fingers around your wrist that fisted his shirt, bumping his nose with yours to capture your attention and get you to look at him. There was a tender smile on his lips as his brows furrowed the tiniest bit in puzzlement.

“Where’s all this coming from, angel?”

“I just…wonder if I ever would’ve met you if I hadn’t moved here, and if I hadn’t…we wouldn’t be here right now.”

Matt cocked his head to the side slightly, his golden honey eyes appearing to stare directly into yours as they shifted over your face slowly. You knew he was listening to your body, studying you, trying to find clues as to what was going on inside your head. 

“But we are here right now.”

He kept his voice gentle, but there was a firmness to it that pulled you out of your head and back into the moment. Letting out a soft sigh, you dipped your head to rest it back against his shoulder, nuzzling your face into his neck.

“I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be. Talk to me, love. What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours?”

Loosening your grip on his shirt, your fingers traveled up the soft material to lightly touch the chain around his neck, dipping below the collar to grasp the cross that dangled from it between your thumb and index finger. You weren’t religious like Matt was, but you often wondered if there was some higher power or greater being that brought the two of you together.

“I just can’t imagine not knowing you. I don’t remember what my life was like before you were in it, and now I can’t picture a future that you’re not a part of. I can’t imagine not loving you.”

Matt tightened his arms around your waist as he hugged you even tighter into his chest, pressing his plump lips against your forehead and allowing them to linger there for a moment.

“I can’t either, angel. But we don’t have to think about that, because you are here. And I think no matter what, we always would’ve ended up here.”

You closed your eyes as you listened to the smooth cadence of Matt’s honey voice, melting into the sincerity that dripped from his words. 

“Wanna know how I know?”

“How?”

“Because I prayed for you. And if you’re the one prayer that God ever answers for me, I’m okay with that. Because I got you. And no matter what, no matter how it happened, or how long it took, I think He was always gonna send you to me. We were always meant to end up here, together.”

Letting out a shaky breath, you turned your body slightly so that you could straddle Matt’s lap, gently cupping his jaw in both of your hands while staring at him with your eyes glistening with complete adoration.

“I love you so much, Matt.”

A smile bloomed across Matt’s mouth as his hands moved upwards to hold onto your waist, his eyes appearing to glow from the light being filtered in from the billboard across the street.

“I love you so much, sweetheart.”

All of the times you thought you had been in love before were nothing compared to what you felt for Matt. You were never terrified to lose anyone before. Nervous, maybe. But never scared. The idea of falling in love with a stranger that could eventually turn into a ghost that took a piece of you with them never filled you with inconsolable dread. The cynicist in you constantly combated with the hopeless romantic. Falling in love was beautiful until it wasn’t. Flowers bloomed vividly and proudly until the cycle of spring was over and winter came to collect the bones. 

A stranger could become the center of your entire universe, rearrange the constellations in your sky to their liking, paint the planets colors they preferred, just to become forgotten rubble at the edges of your orbit.

But you didn’t think you could handle that with Matt. He had never felt like a stranger to you. Even the first night you met him, he had simply felt like a piece of you that was missing. If he was spring, you never wanted to experience another season. If he wanted to rip out the foundation of your universe and start over with plans of his own, he could have it. 

You’d do whatever he wanted except let go.

“Please don’t ever become a stranger whose laugh I could recognize anywhere.”

Matt shook his head slowly as he gazed blankly up at you in pure devotion, his lips splitting into a wide grin while wrapping his arms tightly around your waist to pull you flush against his chest.

“Stop thinking so much and kiss me.”

Melvin Sneedly lookin aaah. Their mom (Mrs. Flask) btw, fully supports their pronouns, hopes and dreams, and overall just kinda chill idk (unlike her child, who really cannot stop being the center of attention lmao). I had originally thought of making her something like Kooky’s (from KND) mom sort of thing where hse’s all business business but like... man. I feel like she likes stay hippy. she keeps it groovy. shes just :) in its purest form and also loves her daughter very much and supports her transitions trans right firkc you

ok Imma be nice to Frownie and talk about her design. Being Smiley’s self-appointed opposite, Frownie takes all the energy she has throughout the day and puts it all into frowning. She hates learning. She hates school. Why would she? Nobody really like, cares about her and she doesn’t care about anybody. She’s got a unibrow deal with it. Her front buttons are literally :( shaped. And her bright cyan dress contrasts against her baby blue skin, this is basically an inverted shade and pallete of Smiley, who has bright yellow skin and dark orange shirt. She also keeps her hair “neater” and “straighter” and even has the same upside down V line to part her bangs. She made herself Smiley’s opposite because everybody wouldn’t stop saying it otherwise and she grew to resent that. Girlie needs some better friends fr

I'm never going to publish this fic also, tho that's mainly bc A) it's way too fucking long B) the fandom and ship are both obscure as hell and C) its also embarrassing 😣 cringe is dead except when it's me and my fanned fictions. That being said, I'm calling the two guys A and B for simplicity's sake.

A and B hate each other's guts. They were friends once, but had a very big falling out with hurt feelings and bad miscommunications all around and basically they vowed to never talk to each other again. And then one day A wakes up and realizes that 1) his house got moved into while he was asleep(he is very ??? over this given that he was in the middle of moving in the day before; his house was basically empty 8 hours ago and now it is Not) and 2) B is coming over for lunch to pick up his stuff(????? This is even MORE confusing bc A is getting the vibe all of a sudden that they were in a relationship together? Which doesn't make sense bc he's not gay. Wait. Is he gay? What the fuck is going on???)

B comes over and they have a very stilted lunch (where it seems like B feels like something is off, too, but hes not saying anything...), B takes his stuff and leaves, and A spends the rest of the week alone in this house that he has both lived in for years and also Has Not and very confused about this new life he suddenly has.

And then A wakes up in a castle as the trusted advisor to the king in a medieval fantasy world and he is EVEN MORE CONFUSED THAN BEFORE!

Also the King is B. Great.

A spends a lot longer here than in the last universe (like 3/4 of a year), long enough for a magical war to come and pass, some character development shit to happen, and also for the King (who, again, is B) to fall in battle (and it's the one they win the war in too, RIP) and go into a Magical Nightmare Coma (bc they were warring with magical nightmare beasts). This is Bad, for a variety of reasons.

Now A is conflicted abt this bc B is his friend, bit also very much not, but that doesn't mean he wants him to die, but also the A of this universe, the advisor, is starting to get the idea to kill the king to get the throne... His death would be easy to explain away, given the circumstances...

A, instead, goes to find magicians to break the curse. This is the first good thing hes done all fic lmao

B wakes up, the kingdom throws a party, and that night, B tells A about how Something Strange has happened to him - he's not from here. From this world. He's from somewhere else, somewhere Different and in the Future but with no magic and he doesn't know how he got here or got to be possessing the king's body but he's been here for past like 3/4 of the year now and hes sorry for acting strangely if he has but he doesn't really know what to do-

A tells B that he's in the same boat, because he is. B realizes that this A is his A and he hates his A. So. B says some things he'll probably regret later bc being mean is the best defense he's learned against A's general air of uncaring-ness for the effects of his /j "jokes" (they're not jokes, half the time they're just mean, but anyways), and storms off.

The next day, A wakes up in a submarine. He thinks he is going to scream.

They go through....,,., a lot of universes. I think it's over 25 rn but idk. Some are shorter than others, the longest is like a year and a half but we'll get to that. The general arcs are:

1. The beginning bit (Just Broke Up, King/Advisor, Deep Sea Biologists (that ones just an excuse to stick them in a small space for a while to duke it out lmao), Astronauts (kinda same premise as last one but there's a third party now), Musicians, Wild West, Minecraft, Wizards, Desert Island (to quote the notes there, "they duke it out but calmer now"), semi-back in their home universe but something's Off, Superhero(B)/Supervillain(A))

In this part they start off hating each other, but slowly warm up to each other again by the Wizard universe (they're wizards there <3). They recognize that they're each other's only constant in this mess, so in the Desert Island 'verse, they agree to try and find each other right away in each new universe they wake up in (instead of messing around for a while before accidentally stumbling into each other like they'd done before). They debate about the versions of themselves they're possessing, with A very adamant about not changing each universe's lives too much, while B is willing to throw that out the window if keeping the status quo endangers each other. He's starting to like A as a friend again and doesn't want to have to tiptoe around him to compensate for this other life that was thrust upon him, sue him. This comes to a head at the end of the superhero verse when A foils his own plan to save B's life, revealing his own identity to the press in the process - VERY much changing the status quo of this A's life. B is very very confused and conflicted abt this but we don't know how A feels bc its B's POV this chapter.

Also it's worth noting that B still gets nightmares from getting attacked by a nightmare beast monster thing, and he will continue having them for the rest of the fic. They get a heck of a lot worse in the next one <3 and he doesn't tell A abt them until like 3 years into this bullshit

Also also they are so homesick already god bless

2. The Death Universes (the death universes) (this is the year and a half one btw)

They wake up in separate universes where the other is dead bc I love inflicting characters with hardships and problems and trauma <3

They get therapy in these ones too which helps them to like accept blame and shit when it comes to their old argument but also not blame themselves completely and break and also hold each other accountable more and in healthier ways

3. Post-Death bits AKA the rest of the fic p much (its like over half the fic I'm not listing all these out)

Points of interest:

- they reunite and are so so happy about it that they become codependent

- they go to a BOTW AU and B is Link and has amnesia but not just the B from the BOTW universe has it, the original B has it also and he. He fucking going through it man

- bc of the whole amnesia thing B starts thinking of himself where he's not really the B of whichever universe but hes also not really the original B either (tho that's always usually the one more in control each time); the two have kind of merged together, and each new universe creates a new version of B

- he goes with that for a while until it gives him an existential crisis and OG B starts maintaining his independence again

- anyways then they get more codependent <3 fruity edition

- they start to realize they're getting codependent and go :/ uh oh oopsie poopsie

- why did I say that I'm sorry

- anyways they try to homebrew some therapy for themselves but given their situation it's not exactly.. uh.... But tbh it's the best they got right now ngl. it works well enough

- it helps that the universe right after they agree to Spend Some Time Apart™️ they wind up in one where they physically cannot meet each other until they get to the end of it and have to make new friends along the way (Dead Gods AU my beloved....... <3)

- they get to a universe where they're Dads and Gay and Married and go 😳

- they only get fruitier from here

And then it vaguely ends around there. I don't really want to ever write an ending for it, if only bc it feels cheap to end it before they get home but also writing them going home feels wrong, but also, again, I'm never publishing this so I'm not too pressed about it

Saying that, I do want to share some bits from the scenes I have actually written that I'm proud of :3 A is red and B is blue. Sometimes the versions of themselves from a universe will have a different name and I do differentiate between the two; when that happens, the alternate universe versions will have a lighter color than OG A or B. Some of them aren't the same size so you'll have to tap the pics to read all of it

Their fight in the first universe, where they don't really know what's going on but they do know they have just recently broken up and are still very hurt abt that

P much the only scene written for the Superhero AU bit, mainly bc I know I cannot top this

There's a bit of a jump in their conversation between these two, but I hope it still makes sense. Mid-part 3, around the time when B's having his existential crisis and right when they start being fruity. (Pastel/Punk AU also High School AU but it's like the weird teen movie version of high school - they're a little weirded out by it lol)

Taeyong as Captain: If he can lead a 20+ member kpop group, he can lead a giant research spaceship (probably). Also, one of Kirk’s biggest strengths as captain tends to be his compassion, which I reason TY could fulfill nicely!

Johnny as First Officer: In TOS, Spock takes on the role of both FO and Chief Science Officer, but uhhh Spock is a (half) Vulcan and Johnny is Johnny, so he just gets FO (with much respect to Johnny) 😆 Probably he just steps up as TY’s backup / picks up where TY is unable to and otherwise chills on the Bridge 😋✌️ and posts on space Instagram lol

Taeil as Navigator + Haechan as Helmsman (Pilot): Genuinely. I just think giving HC control over the entirety of a giant research spaceship would be very funny. And I think Taeil giving him directions off Google Maps (with extra math and physics) while he does so would be hilarious. I think many hijinks would ensue, which is only proper for ST. Also Sun & Moon inverse Sulu & Chekov... so true...

Yuta as Chief Tactical Officer: I would not hesitate to put a phaser in YT’s hands. Also he looks pretty epic in the new High&Low movie, so I  think that those skills would definitely translate into ST AU. Altho, I think most of what he’d be doing is like, fire lasers from the spaceship?? Still, pretty epic. He’d make it look cool.

Doyoung as Records Officer: 😭 Sorry m8 you’re doing the paperwork LOL 😭 but also I think he’d take this opportunity to come up to the bridge as often as possible and bother TY which, again, would probably be extremely hilarious 😆

Jaehyun as Materials Officer: 😢 okay I am a bit sorry for this one, but also I wasn’t sure where to put him... Jaemin as Chief Medical Officer + Jeno as Physician: I was watching a recording behind for Dream and someone said ‘Jaemin’s rly regretting not going to med school now lol’ and somehow that stuck with me HAHA similar principle to Markly, he’s got an edge that I’m sure could actually carry him thru med school LOL and idk I’d probably trust Jeno if he were my physician. Shotaro would be working under YT and get to hang out on the Bridge, where he’d (possibly) be able get to know TY & YY 🤔

I started the series right after Shadow Kiss (book 3) came out. Found book 1 in Walmart and made my mom but it for me. Over a decade later and this series still has my soul in its clutches.

I adore the series in the way it was centered around Rose and Lissa and their friendship and love for each other and the problems that come with being each other's person.

And who is not a fan of the untouchable love interest with an accent? Dimitri is literally the reason I like men and influenced my type of guy. Am I married to a nonbinary person the complete opposite of Dimka? Absolutely. Changes nothing.

What I am not a fan of (like everyone else) is the age gap between Rose, Dimitri, and Adrian. I am 24 and I LITERALLY CAN NOT even think of finding a 17 year old attractive. Like yeah yeah different worlds and they have to grow up faster to be guardians but wowza. I re read the series this year and was appalled at some of what happened while Rose is underage (the cabin scene yes and jfc Dimitri she is your student and you're also her best friend's guardian c'mon). Adrian's character honestly rubbed me very wrong for the longest time. He gave off nice guy who needs therapy vibes. I haven't read the spin off with Sydney and Adrian so he could have redeemed himself. Idk.

Also hate how Rose treated Eddie. Like he honestly went above and beyond when he did not have to multiple times and she barely thanked him.

Lissa also not that appreciative of her friends.

I love the representation but Lissa (and most royals) are Eastern European decent (hence the names and most being from/around Russia). I wonder if they'll just nix that or work with it. I do hope they age up Rose and co and lower Dimitri to like 22 or 21. Make it like a 2-3 year age gap and not 7 ffs.

Right now my genre would be pure comedy and on the b sides I like watching animes like haikyuu, jujutsu Kaisen, attack on Titan and stuff. It gives trauma but hey :') I'm used to it. And it just came to me thru a vibe like idk if it's just me but i make the moodboard first and then write the story 😭😭 im always in the opp. Direction for some reason, idk how but pretty pictures inspire me to write masterpieces. So, yeah we'll see what'll happen once I release it.

1. nineteen - i dont know what it is about this song but the way he composed it is just right up my alley. the lyrics themselves are very relatable to me and the slow rock vibe is always what i love to hear from hanbin idk why. this song automatically makes me wanna do that dance he did at the beginning of cosmos mv

2. flame & illusion - putting these songs together because they are That Bitch. he is my boyfriend he is an artist he is a rapper he is the shit he is the moment everyone shut up and listen. illusion is so fucking addictive i listened to it for like a month straight and his ICONIC "woah!" moments after certain verses??? yes. Flame gives me the same vibe, it gets me hyped and ready to go, the tempo for both of these songs are so on point. When I first heard flame i was like she is tied for sure with illusion

3. re birth- crying. sobbing. wailing. weeping. howling loudly. bawling non stop. my eyes are waterfalls (pun intended). this song brings out so many emotions from me. when he first released this demo i was practically BEGGING this man to finish it and im SO glad he did. this song means so much to me and his voice is so beautiful in it ugh

4. waterfall - she is the moment. this is so on par with hanbin's vibe of BE I and his vibe from when he was on smtm (which was like an insane time for him as an artist) the 'dont fuck with me attitude' is immaculate. also the beat is so addictive

5. help me - i know hanbin is still probs insecure about his singing voice but this song complimented his voice SO MUCH. i cant help but sing along with him because this song draws so much emotion out of me. this song gives me such theatric vibes esp with the instruments playing in the background. like i can just imagine him on stage singing this with just a stand up mic and cool visuals in the background. also do not even get me started on the lyrics bc i WILL cry

6. remember me - SHE IS THAT BITCH. the second i heard this song i knew itd be popular in korea and look where we are now. the notes at the start remind me of animal crossing and just the concept video he put out was my fav. ALSO THE LYRICS..DO NOT EVEN GET ME STARTEDDD i love his corny ass

7. daydream ft lee hi- NO ONE ELSE CAN DO THIS SONG LIKE LEE HI CAN DO THIS SONG. i am so glad he asked her to be on this song it made such a statement and she always adds so much emotion and story to songs she literally is like no other artist to me i love her so much. this song has such meaning behind it and literally throws me into daydream mode.

9. alive - why does this song remind me of bobby??? is it the flow??? the beat???? i think its the flow. it rlly emphasizes hanbins flow and ability to be fast af boy. also the intro reminds me of like a final fantasy song??

11. cosmos - miss ma'am....this song is such a breathe of fresh air from hanbin. i'm so glad he made this the title track bc its something different from me that he needs to highlight. he said he was gonna do some more happy songs and this is what im taking about!!! he listened!!! although its not the most catchy imo because i typically like songs more like flame where the beat is intense and the lyrics are more tough i guess?? this song is so nice and created perfectly. 13. flow away - did this mf make this song with tablo because this sounds straight off an epik high album im not kidding. the flow he has and the beat he created is SO similar to tablos flow. which because of that this song is amazing, composed beautifully

14. stay ft tablo- my first reaction to this song was "OH??" because it sounds like hanbin but also???? nothing like hanbin which is amazing because it shows his range. tablo ofc is amazing but whats new here, not sure how about his verse and how it fits into the song but i still rlly like it regardless

15. numb- I FEEL SO NUUUUUUUMBBBB. tbh this song isnt my fav but its still a good song ofc. i think it rlly shows hanbins range of switching from slow rapping to singing. his singing has gotten way better over time and im glad hes using his voice like that more

16. gray- there he goes again with those funky beats you go funky man. this song is rlly fun and i think the beat is rlly dope. just not my fav personally. does make me wanna dance tho
