Tumgik
#idk when this was taken but i think it was like an anti-trump protest or something
Note
I hope this okay to ask feel free to ignore if not but how do you manage to cope with people saying such inflammatory stuff about matty constantly? You seem very adjusted to it, I am usually alright at ignoring it and I know its not true but sometimes I see things people say and I feel a bit sick because that's what people think and what if they think I support that and idk. I get scared there might be truth in it sometimes even though I don't think that and it gets difficult to cope with. I really strongly believe in having nuance in a situation, being critical of the people you enjoy instead of blindly praising them and not putting people on pedestals, which is why I still engage with matty because to me he is a guy who says and does stupid things occasionally like most people realistically do. But people see it so black and white and you're either a good person or you're not and I hate that and it gets to me sometimes.
no worries at all! that's what fandoms are for. to debate and cope with things like this. especially at a weird time that this fandom seems to be in rn.
For me, it's a mixture of different things. The first being that I've tested my own beliefs and so I'm more sure of them than ever. That's part of what I love about being a fan of Matty. He's constantly challenging me. Whenever he does or says something that I personally wouldn't do, I stop and ask myself why. Would I not do it because I think it's wrong? or would I not do it because I have been conditioned to behave a certain way automatically (whether by culture, by upbringing, by societal expectations of women and femininity, etc) and its never occurred to me that there might be an alternative until he just showed me? So, that way, my own thinking is under the microscope, and if something doesn't hold up, I get rid of it, if something remains firm then I have to agree to disagree with him on it (the nepo baby thing is a good example of that. He's just wrong there, lol. Sorry Matty.)
I had a similar moment of doubt to what you're describing when the podcast shitshow happened. Cuz I wasn't entirely disgusted by it. Did I think that some jokes were tone-deaf? Yeah. But I didn't feel AS offended as everyone who was saying they no longer support the band, or their opinion of him has changed forever, or that hes not the same guy who wrote "loving someone" or "love it if we made it" or "jc2005gba" or "people," and hes showing his true colors or whatever. So, I was like "broooo am I the problem? am I blind? is his sexiness making me think that he could do no wrong and its to the detriment of my moral character? so I went back and listened to the podcast THREE FUCKIN TIMES. After some thinking, I felt like okay some jokes really shouldn't have been made, period. Like he fucked up at a handful of moments, BUT the VAST MAJORITY of the reactions were to things taken out of context and were exaggerations of how one SHOULD react. fucking up doesn't mean he's secretly evil and it doesn't cancel out all the good that he's done.
So, I walked away from the whole situation even firmer in my beliefs about what is appropriate and what's not, what I personally stand for as a human, and what I believe about Matty's character. Which is why, when I see that shit that people are saying now, I'm like "they're a bunch of morons." cuz I thought about it and know what's what. I think they did as well maybe they wouldn't be saying half the shit that they are saying. Kissing fans at a show after checking their ID to see that they're of age and after they've consented to it and BEGGED for it is NOT grooming. Saying that he likes hot women is NOT misogynistic, "thank you Kanye very cool" is a LITERAL TWEET by Donald Trump used in an ironic context of a protest song, it's NOT anti-semitic. you see where im going with this...
Does it break my fuckin heart when I see people wishing him relapse and overdosing and death? fuck yeah. This person stopped me from killing myself i don't wanna see people wishing him dead! ESPECIALLY that half the time, I remember that interview moment where he said that he gets nervous when hes not with "my people." like he's aware that hes rough around the edges, he knows it takes a moment to, like, figure out who he is and that not everyone gets it, and he's genuinely grateful to those of us who have given him the space to be himself and who believe in his art enough to take a moment and think about what he does to the point where it makes him feel safe and he doesn't take it for granted. So, to picture him, perhaps scrolling online or whatever and seeing people say this vile shit about him....it makes me sick to my stomach. But I try and deal with it in three ways. 1) I remind myself who Matty truly is (he didn't HAVE to put hijab wearing women in TOOTIME we are literally invisible to popculture i never see myself represented anywhere. we are not considered a demographic at all; he didn't HAVE to write LIIWMI, he didn't HAVE to give airtime to the speech that he gave at the brits in 2019, he doesn't HAVE to go out of his way to support the artists that Dirty Hit supports and keep in touch with young people's concerns, etc) That's Matty. He's always saying that people take girl fandoms for granted but younger female fans are smarter than him and have taught him so much. HE LEARNS from his fans. he doesn't think of us as something has accumulated because of his genius or whatever. 2) I remind myself that this isn't really about Matty at all. These swifties don't believe in being social justice warriors! if they did, they'd be okay with calling out taylor for her mistakes. Or they wouldn't be so nasty as to threaten to listen to her stolen music and stop supporting her re-records. They want justification for their hatred of Matty, and cuz matty's mistakes are so public, they have a lot to use against him. People who use his mistakes and his addiction against him aren't people I should concern myself with. what they believe is worth shit to me. Where do they get off calling him a bad person when they're dragging him for things he didn't even do???? yeah, they can go to hell for all I care. When someone has a legitimate criticism of him, or when he does something actually bad, then I'll listen. Like I did when the pod happened. 3) I live in my happy little bubble, lmao. I SCROLLLL bestie. SCROLLL past them comments. I know that shit is gonna break my heart and ruin my day, so I will not subject my eyeballs to it. At most, if it shows up against my will as it sometimes does on tiktok, I'll remind myself that the stupidity of the human race is kinda funny, I'll laugh about it, imagine Matty's brutal humor making a meme out of it if he were still online, crack myself up. and move on...
Unfortunately, people who don't take the time to actively seek growth remain in their black and white thinking. Just because a massive number of people think something is true, doesn't mean it is. recent political changes across the planet have definitely shown us that there can be great idiocy in greta numbers, lmao. this is no different.
Sorry this is a long ass rant. you were probably looking for a concise and simple response but i just....dont know that there is one, lol. Hope this helps but i know how you feel and it's really hard to remain calm in the face of it all. ohhh god. hopefully it ends soon.

i hate election years living with my parents, man. the world is burning, the arctic is melting, the wealth gap is spreading, wages are stagnant, cost of living is skyrocketing, and rights are being taken away and regulated at the whim of old men with hearts full of hate. meanwhile i have to gently talk my mother through an explanation of why it's bad that donald trump said he'd be a dictator, but only on his first day. she also said if biden loses he will also incite an insurrection? and that idk what makes her think that but she also yelled at me for saying trump is a convicted criminal. "so is joe biden" not... not for attempting a coup in response to losing an election though. but she doesn't see the difference. granted my mom kind of revels in her stupidity, i don't really understand her. she's proud of not knowing things, but i'm very much the type of person who is trying to learn every minute of every day, i jokingly call it 'need to know everything disease' and it is a blessing and a curse. the curse is Knowing How Bad It Really Is, obviously. but the blessing is knowing wtf is going on with the world. but she's proud of not knowing anything i'm ever talking about. she's been married to my dad for almost 30 years and she jokes nonstop about how her eyes glaze over when he talks about his work (that he's been doing for 40 years). like... that's not the flex you think it is?
anyway. all rants end up with my mother because she's the root of most of my trauma. my point here is that i was telling her i was anxious about the election and she decided to spend a couple hours arguing. and her point just drives me nuts. basically, she's not voting out of protest ("i'll vote when i see a good option, im 55 and i never have"). no amount of gentle slow explaining can convince her why that's not the protest she thinks it is. her secondary point is that all politicians are vicious criminals who hate you. which, like, yeah, but she uses it as an excuse to play dumb. she's proud of not knowing literally anything at all about politics because the depth and breadth of her knowledge is "politics is boring and politicians are bad". like please. please. the anti-intellectualism is killing me. why do you hate learning.
and that's another thing she does that makes me insane! she's one of those "i make fun of you because i love you" people and bringing it up will just get you a fuckton more teasing. i've spent a decade begging her not to constantly make fun of and bully me because it makes me feel like im in school again. but every time i bring it up she asks "if i didnt tease you how would you know i love you?" as if i wouldn't feel so much more loved if she listened to me. anyway one of the things she teases me about is that i like to learn. i will bring up something cool i learned and she immediately bursts into laughter. i've asked her questions afterwards and she always answers like "i don't know, i wasn't really listening". i'll tell a story and she'll respond with something completely random in a way that shows she wasn't listening even a little bit. that happens especially when im excited and telling good news and she responds with "oh, it'll be okay, hopefully tomorrow is better". like???? okay not only were you not listening, you also see my excitement and joy and assume you need to comfort me? what the fuck is wrong with her.
my sister is a nurse and her and i talk about this all the time. my mom acts stoned constantly. she takes 30-60 seconds to respond to any question and her response is "...what?" at least 1/3 of the time. the rest of the time it's a toss-up whether her response will be a random sentence she pulled out of her ass, or something that has anything to do with the topic being discussed. she doesn't do drugs either! no weed, no pills, not even alcohol. i swear to god she's proud of being stupid and slow. like she's doing it on purpose. she never used to be like this. it makes me want to slap her. wake the fuck up! react to something! join a conversation! learn something about your kid or husband! fuck!

Today in USA = “Unilateral Scams of Acrimony”
Idk about you but more and more it seems to me that “free speech” unilaterally grants a monopoly on hate speech.
A monopoly only to those who direct hatred at individuals and groups lower on the social ladder who are arguing for a more equitable and inclusive system
Case in Point:
Rich Scum attacking a law clerk for handing papers to the judge - part of every clerk’s job.
“Trump’s attorneys wrote in a filing Monday that the former president has never threatened the judge or his principal law clerk and they can’t be held responsible for actions taken by others.”
[It’s not Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric, the attorneys argue (🤮🤮bull 💩) but rather] “…the disturbing behavior engaged in by anonymous, third-party actors towards the judge and Principal Law Clerk…”
[A ‘third-rate actor’ they mean who starred in “Celebrity Ass-hole”?]
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Once again Trump is teaching us lessons we’d rather not learn about the cesspool swamp in which we’re swimming:
All hate speech directed down ladder is never censored in the USA as it occurs.
Rarely for the hate speaker are there any legal outcome for or even social ostracizing of them - even when there are lethal consequences of their speech.
No consequences for an individual or a hate group for hate speech.
I know, I know - you are thinking, ‘but we have virtually unlimited freedom of speech to criticize up the ladder.
TRUE! BUT ONLY AS (ineffective) INDIVIDUALS
Whereas , what happens when any expression of mere anger is directed up ladder by a potentially effective self-organized GROUP of those lower on the social ladder?
That group and its speech is immediately crushed by legally censoring, social ostracizing, media indifference or the media expressing that libel concerns truncate coverage.
If the group takes it to the streets then ANY public group anger directed up ladder is met with the police who immediately demand the protest disband.
This pattern of censoring up ladder protest is carried out even by ostensibly Liberal local, State, or Federal administrations.
Amongst the General LIBERAL Public the validity of the criticism up ladder combined with a push for change lis often met with uncomprehending confusion. As Noam Chomsky or Bernie Sanders have experienced across six decades. But they aren’t censored since they have remained individual critics.
But have you seen the news report about self-organizing groups like Unions, the Black Panthers, anti-war student protesters BLM protesters Climate Catastrophe protesters? Peaceful protests until the riot cops show up.
Or the always violent response to Indigenous peoples group protests of incursions on Tribal lands by mining operations, lumbering operations, oil pipeline crossings, waste site dumping, water pilfering, etc.
A similar unilateral imbalance pattern down ladder occurs in freedom of assembly, freedom of the press, freedom to petition, even freedom of religion.

Idk if you have yet, but if you could please explain the issues regarding the brazilian election (like how bolsanaro gained so much popularity), I would really like to hear what you have to say from your perspective
@outerspace8 hey!! thanks for asking and sorry for the delay, i’ve been struggling with my english vocabulary when it comes to talking about politics! this might be a little long and very biased, i’m sorry
well, first of all, he’s an ex-soldier and has been a federal deputy for over 27 years but he wasn’t that well known outside of his state (rio de janeiro) until a couple years ago. he gained popularity from viral videos of him fighting people in congress, like the time he was having a heated discussion with another politician and told her that he “wouldn’t rape her bc she is too ugly and does not deserve it”. people found a lot of old videos of him saying similar horrible stuff on different situations, with loads of homophobia, racism, showing his support of torture and glorifying the right-wing military dictatorship of 1964. of course, many were horrified, but here’s where it gets Bad: some edgy kids turned him into a meme, praising him for his quick comebacks at ppl and adding the turn down for what meme into his videos. yes, sadly, it’s that dumb. that’s how it started.
well, many of these kids started spreading his word around over the past couple years in facebook groups, and he got advantage that a lot of people have been unhappy with the current government. all our presidents from 2002-2016 have been from the same left-wing party: PT. the presidents have been Lula (2002-2010) and Dilma (the first woman to be president, 2010-2016). they’re far from being perfect, they’ve been involved in corruption scandals, but they had a lot of social projects and did a lot for the poor. they never had the support of the media though, and have been attacked for a long time, by them and by other right-wing and centrist parties, some of whom even paid facebook pages to post anti-PT content, focusing especially on their corruption and bad management of the country, blaming them for beginning an economical crisis. in 2016, after lots of protests from part of the population, vice-president Temer set up what many understand to be a coup and after voting in congress, they impeached president Dilma. Temer is our current president, and has taken a lot of measures considered unpopular amongst the working class, with the excuse of fixing the economical crisis (mind you, politicians receive thousands and thousands of dollars per-month and are REALLY corrupt but who’s blamed for the lack of money? the population). there have been corruption scandals involving Temer too, but what did the population do? shut up about it (except for left-wing supporters), bc they understood it was “too late for another impeachment”. Lula has been arrested over corruption with little proof thanks to popular demand (aka right-wingers demands) when others just as corrupt or worse haven’t (it’s all so messy you wouldn’t believe…)
in disbelief of politicians, some people found their “savior” in Bols*naro: he says what conservative people want to hear - that politicians are all liars, that there have been too many crimes, that health sucks, education sucks, but has no decent plans to make it better. ppl who support him don’t even have to necessarily agree with the atrocities he says, but they say “it’s better than corruption” lmao. some don’t even believe he has said those things, and that’s been done with a very clever technique of manipulation that Trump has used too, from what i’ve heard. he denies literally EVERYTHING he’s been accused of, no matter how trustworthy the source is, no matter if there’s a video of him saying the thing, he will say it has been edited, and people will believe it. he will say he is not racist or homophobic, even tho we have evidence. (he does not do it alone tho, he has the support of right wing youtubers and influencers who organized those protests against Dilma, and the support of a LOT of corrupt ppl in congress, yet his followers think he is gonna end politician’s privileges when he voted for his own privileges when he was a deputy and against worker’s rights).
he repeats over and over that he is not corrupt, people buy it. his argument and the argument of his followers are weak and they avoid discussing his government plans (trust me, he has none) but instead point fingers at the other party - “what about PT? are u ok with their corruption?”. btw, he disses the still very hated party, PT, whenever he has the opportunity - and accuses them of things they did not do. and that’s where it gets REAL bad. the second ballot will be between him and Haddad, from PT. the past week, Bolson*ro has been involved in a slush fund scandal of mass-sending fake news to what’s app groups, getting paid by millionaire businessmen to spread these fake news and manipulating images, with contents such as saying that PT wants to implement communism in brazil and that the country is gonna become just like venezuela (they have been in government for over 14 years. not once they decided to implement communism), that they disrespect christianism, or that they are pedophilia and incest supporters, that Haddad, the former education minister of Lula’s government, was the author of a project that was spreading inappropriate material in schools teaching kids to be gay…. and the outcome of all of this was, bols*naro said he was never involved in the slush funding scandal, and those people who support him just bought it. with no investigation, with nothing, the same who justified voting for him bc the other party was corrupt.
so yes, he distorts the truth - real news are fake, fake news are real, he points his fingers at other governments and has no actual plans for health or education. he knows absolutely nothing about economy, mind you. oh yeah, and he got stabbed around september, and kinda turned into a martyr for some. ironically, guns are banned here, and he is the one who has a project against the banning law. this dude wants ppl to have guns. god, the more i speak, the more i realize i forgot to say a lot of things. i’ll edit this ask if i left anything out. but yes, this ask might make you think brazil is a shitshow and not a country. i wouldn’t say you’re wrong tbh

Have you seen (ANGELINE CARTER) around New York? They look a lot like (ROSAMUND PIKE) but i don’t think they’ve even realized it! Some people say they are (IMAGINATIVE AND EMPOWERING) and (ERRATIC AND SECRETIVE) but all we know for sure is they are (39), (CIS FEMALE, BISEXUAL) and work as a (HOLLYWOOD ACTRESS / DIRECTOR). I guess only time will tell but for now we’ll just call them the (ACTIVIST). // it’s me again lmaooo. i’m bringing back my girl but with a few changes! tw: homophobia
Tumblr media
some of you might remember my girlie angeline from a while ago! this time i’ve made some changes on her
she’s from london, uk, but moved to los angeles when she was 11
her dad was an accountant and her mother worked as a flight attendant, they are since retired
she’s still got a british accent but after being in the us so long, it does have an american twang to it
she has been living in new york since she was 18
angeline is bisexual and was disowned by her parents when they found out she was engaged to a woman (samantha reis). they are incredibly homophobic and didn’t support the marriage in the slightest. angeline and sam are now divorced and that’s kind of like an “i told you so” moment from her parents which is one of the reasons why angeline hasn’t made contact with them since. she’s estranged from them completely pretty much
she has a little sister (21-25) she hasn’t seen for years because her parents didn’t want the sister to have anything to do with angeline but her little sister has since moved to ny recently and they’re gonna start to build a better relationship
she’s been acting since she was 19, it wasn’t until her late 20′s that she got her big break. she’s a household name now. super duper famous movie star. she’s been nominated for an academy award 3 times and won once
angie is getting into directing more and loves it
she’s dating her divorce lawyer rn. oops
a major feminist. she’s really outspoken about issues. regularly attends the women’s march every year, goes to anti trump protests, she’s passionate about social justice issues and uses her platform to talk about it
does a lot of humanitarian work
listen she’s a sweetheart angel but she’s such a perfectionist and very prim & proper
she’s very serious about her work and invests herself so deeply into her roles
i imagine her directing/movie style similar to sofia coppola
“i have done nothing wrong in my life, ever” - angeline ”i know this and i love you” - me to angeline
she is capable of being a mega bitch if she’s pushed to do so
i’m headcanon-ing that she is doing a remake of all about eve and she’s playing bette davis’ role... that’s my ULTIMATE kink
basically angie is my famous hollywood darling and i love her
possible connections ?
cousins (she’s english, so they would have to have some english background but they don’t have to have lived in the uk, they can be from anywhere)
fans
rebound ex
one night stand(s)
frenemy (possibly another famous person/former co-star... they play nice for the cameras but actually they don’t like each other AT ALL - maybe they had a fling and it turned nasty? idk)
neighbor(s) (she lives in the upper east side)
co-stars
young actor/actress she has taken under her wing and mentored
agent
assistant
stylist

Hi you're one of my fav blogs (I wish I could talk to you in Spanish but I'm from Brazil and unfortunately we only learn English at school). Anyway, I'm here bc I need help with a playlist and you're the first person I could think of. I want some Latino songs about LatAm, but idk much of other countries' music, so I thought maybe you/your followers could help? I want songs that talk about being Latine, how usa imperialism sucks, etc. I can send u what I already have so u can see what I mean! Thx
Don’t worry! I have brazilian friends and we mix english, spanish and portuguese lkjfg. Yeah, send me what you got! i can give you some songs right now, putting some parts that i love:
Latinoamerica by Calle 13 (Puerto Rico, Colombia, Perú, Brasil): i feel like you already have this in your list, because is our anthem at this point. It’s a song about latinoamérica and what they did here (the video has subtitles) / I work hard but with pride. Here we share, what’s mine is yours. This nation doesn’t drown with the waves. And if it collapses I rebuild it. I don’t even blink when I look at you, so you’ll remember my last name. Operation Condor invading my nest, I forgive but never forget!”
Memoria by León Gieco (Argentina): a song in memory of the dictatorships of Operación Condór (they had the help of US) + in memory of the terrorist attacks here (in the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association building) (the video has subtitles) / Two thousand would eat for a yearwith what a military minute costs. How many would stop being slavesfor the price of a bomb thrown to the sea? / Memory aims until it killsthe people who try to silence it and don’t let it fly free like the wind.
Frijolero by Motolov (México) / video with english subtitles: a big fuck you to US from México in 2009, even before Trump. I love this song / “Now why don’t you look down to where your feet is planted. That U.S soil that makes you take shit for granted. If not for Santa Ana, just to let you know that where your feet are planted would be México”
El mojado by Ricardo Arjona / lyrics in english (Guatemala): song for inmigrants. “He said goodbye with a grimace disguised as a smile and he asked God -crucified on a shelf- to protect his people, and he crossed the border as he could / Wet.back, wet of so much crying, knowing that in some place a kiss awaits him on hold since the day he left”
Multi_viral by Calle 13 (Puerto Rico): song of protest / The one who controls, the one who dictates, wants to get you sick to sell you drugs. / A piece of news not well told is an assault with a weapon /Our ideas are free and they are awake because we think with the doors wide open. What is not seen, we are seeing. We are born without knowing how to talk, ut we will die talking out loud.
Canción con todos by Mercedes Sosa / lyrics in english (Argentina): a song for latinoamericanes / All the voices, all. All the hands, all. All the blood can be song in the wind. Sing with me, sing…american brother, set free your hope with a cry in your voice.
Rubén Rada (Uruguay): this list is looking to sad/dark, so let’s bring some latinidad with this amazing afrolatine artist. here: cha cha, muchacha / muriendo de plena / candombe para Gardel
Gringo maligno by Todos Tus Muertos (Argentina):  Regan, Clinton Bush, Regan, everyone is the same / evil gringo, sent by Satan ccupying and blocking, imposing your plan.
La patria madrina by Lila Downs and Juanes (México and Colombia): protest song agaisnt capitalism, agaisnt the violent kidnapping and killing of 43 students of Ayotzinapa, agaisnt the destruction of the earth / Everybody wants a share of the oil, you see? and to burn Mother Earth with urgency to make more cars, to make more money, as if you could buy happiness.
Por si acaso no regreso by Celia Cruz (Cuba): a song dedicated to Cuba, her homeland /  Home, do not suffer. Heart, do not break. Because badness can’t last 100 years nor could any body and I never wanted to abandon you. I’ve taken you with every step and my heart will remain for eternity as a flower on your lap just in case……just in case I don’t return / In the case I don’t return, if I don’t return, remember: I loved her with my life. In the case I don’t return, I will die from pain…I’m already dying.
Los americanos by Piero (Argentina) / lyrics in english: with an ironic/sarcastic tone, he makes fun of gringxs. Every part of this song is gold. / They are born elderly and gradually become kids, throughout the lifetime of “los americanos”. And they are born convinced that there is nobody in the world more important than “los americanos” / Napoleon for them was an Italian gentleman who organized everything without “los americanos”. And they are more than sure that he wouldn’t have lost Waterloo with the help of “los americanos”. If they know anything about history, it’s not from reading it but from seeing it in the “cine americano” / If there’s something to be admired, wherever they go, it’s the grand elegance of “los americanos”. wearing native dress, they mix in with the people, and nobody realizes that they are “americanos”.
“Murciélago” by Porter: about the colonization of natives /  The elders saw them. They do not come in peace, we hear screams. There have three ships, they bring Cristo.
La Gozadera by Gente de Zona and Marc Anthony (Cuba and Puerto Rico): a really cool song about latinidad. / If you are Latino, take out your flag!
Guerra by Calle 13: anti-war song. they talk about US, wars and refugees. just. please watch this video. it has english subtitles./  I am your defeat, your two broken legs. The nail in your foot which pierced through the boot. I am the strategy in any battle. Today you either win or lose, I am the sorrows of your joys. The war by night and the war by day.
Pégate by Ricky Martin: let’s end this in a happy song, 100% latine with my father Ricky / I come with good stuff for my people, I bring love, I bring this remedy which cheers up the hearts of the entire world. For the pain, for the heartaches. There’s nothing better than the rhythm of my drums / And let rivers of goodness flow to all the people of the world. Because we can’t forget that pure love liberates and lies are poison. As my mother used to say: dancing you can solve anything.
I’m tagging some of the latines that i know, if they want to add any song, please do it! @dasakuryo @the-mighty-microwave @targannington @alteanwitch @koganer @voltronless @bitcherovas @ceibos @duskianfae @im-not-a-real-hero @trashsenal @dixonette1013 @latinxlance @cherry-cokes @lancesazul @freckledai @pamelas @elbiotipo guys u are like a bunch of people lkfjg i’m sorry if i forgot anyone!!! a lot of people and a bad memory, not a good mix.

BRIDGES...
Melodically it might not be the strongest one in the album, & not the favourite one for many, BUT conceptually is the perfect song for single choice. Let me elaborate… Mainstream media regularly doesn’t touch subjects aside of sex, love, heartbreak & partying.
Logic stated something similar during his VMAs performance: “I just want to take a moment right now & thank you all so much for giving me a platform to talk about something that mainstream media doesn’t want to talk about…” Speaking about mental illnesses on his song “1-800-273-8255” is such a powerful, raw & real statement. If you have heard the song or watched his performance that night, don’t tell me you didn’t get chills or a lump in your throat. Now, this is an statement that has achieved a #1 on Spotify’s US Top 50 chart; got a new peak of No. 5 this week on the Hot 100, a platinum certification & continues to rise (not to mention the impact that has had on the lifeline, it’s unprecedented). Personally, I’m extremely happy that a song like such is getting that amount of success. Doesn’t mean there hasn’t been anyone that has treated this subject in the music ever before but take a look at the BB charts from these days & there is not another similar single on the market right now. The GP appreciates these songs that convey a different type of message other than the trivial ones we’re used to hear on the radio all the time.
Take a look at other very successful pop singles by female singers that have spoken about matters that don’t have anything to do with the common “mainstream-ish” ones:
Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song”… Reached double platinum on the US, & did very well on the BB lists)
Katy Perry with “Firework”… Commercially successful, reaching number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the top five on 20 charts around the world. It has sold 7.1 million copies in the United States, and over 1 million in the United Kingdom.
Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”…
[“I really can’t believe it. I’m humbled, honored and overwhelmed at the reception to ‘Born This Way’. This has been so life-changing for me. Between Billboard and the international No. 1s, and the radio numbers… I couldn’t be more blessed to have the fans I have. I knew when I wrote the song it was special, but I also knew that perhaps my fans or my label were hoping for me to deliver ‘Bad Romance the Third’ or ‘Poker Face the Third’. I wanted to do exactly the opposite.”] — Gaga talking to Billboard about the commercial reception of “Born This Way”.
These are just the first examples I could come up with, surely there are other options that I’m missing right now. My point here was to highlight how these sort of songs do great in terms of the commercial reception & sometimes even better than expected.
Back to Bridges, by making it a single the girls would totally be showing the GP a side of them, musically speaking, that they have never been given the chance to showcase. I want to believe it would get them the respect they deserve. I’m positive it would change the GP’s view on them since it’d be a total different approach. I would even dare to say that they could go viral since anything that slams Trump’s administration, rightfully does (like Miss Texas two or three days ago). Concerning stan Twitter, hopefully it would lessen the slander towards them.
I know most are begging for Lonely Night or DSYLM for the third single. Almost everyone is rooting for the powerhouse ballad that DSYLM is, don’t get me wrong this song is everything we all have ever wanted from them since “Who Are You” but the absolute best time to have gotten this song out would have been their debut as a foursome, releasing something no one would have expected nor sonically nor vocally. But we know Epic adores sabotaging them. Regarding Lonely Night, the girls are known for bops, adding another one to their hits list won’t bring a change onto their name. Here’s what I mean:
For a girlgroup that’s not taken seriously more than half of the time; that has sadly secured a solid place on the stan Twitter bandwagon hate list; & the label that loves fucking up their singles choices… just look at Down, as much as they want to sell us the idea that they all agreed with it as the debut, it’s obvious that LAND didn’t pick it. Tbh if it had actually been for them I don’t think they would have included it on the tracklist. For a band that’s been doubted since always, having a single out there climbing the top spots on the charts protesting about today’s political situation; speaking on behalf the lack of love & division reigning over society; stating about equality in general… It’s such an outstanding concept.
Four POC women basically singing in harmony a big fat fuck you to the giant Cheeto head & his regimen founded on racism & bigotry while taking over the mainstream radio it’s such an statement, I just got chills from merely thinking about it.
Apart from the fact that the GP could be very receptive of it, most importantly, it’s a much needed message that don’t even doubt for a second, Lauren, Ally, Normani & Dinah wouldn’t want to share with the world on a bigger scale. Yeah the song is out there, sure thing. But not every outsider will give themselves the chance to hear it. Many don’t even know the song exists. With a well budgeted music video (preferably that contains an actual storyline) & the adequate amount of promo it’s a song that could definitely get the recognition & appreciation it deserves.
I repeat, Epic won’t ever pull this card (I’m sure it must be true that they have already selected Sauced Up) but if the fans unite to demand this, definitely the girls won’t reject the idea & maybe we could really get them to change it EVEN if the third song is put out there by that moment. Many moves likes this have been done in the past, due to the fans’ petitions. E.g. Lady Gaga had everything prepared to promote “Ayo” & she changed it last minute to “Million Reasons”. One Direction had begun promoting “Infinity” but directioners wanted “History” instead. We could do it, we could get the label to exercise this option. Besides aren’t we told almost daily that we’re the fifth member? Just saying…
If you have made up your mind about other song for the next single, remember the other songs talk about about the trivial topics that the mainstream media consistently push. Not that there’s anything wrong with them of course, but from my POV it would just be another hit added to their brand & that’s pretty much it. Not that this last is not a big deal but imagine if they could have a hit with an anti-Trump anthem, love encouraging piece. Sounds better or is it just me?? Idk, don’t want to sound like I’m exaggerating but this could be huge for them. Plus bringing a different element into the table for a change seems persuading enough to me. By the way, the girls just said recently said in an interview that they wanted to be remember for spreading love & positivity… What a perfect opportunity to exhibit this to the GP than with Bridges.
Not convinced enough? The portion of the general public, that got to hear it already, praised it quite A LOT. (I’ll attach later some ss with tweets demonstrating this last point)
The world deserves this message. The girls have it. It’s just a matter of pushing it & spreading it a little bit more. This shouldn’t be an opportunity gone to waste. Especially if this is really their last project as Fifth Harmony. In the end it’s not the girls who got to decide this latter, it’s the label, (even if they try to sell us otherwise). Not to mention right now it’s the most fitting time. The situation in America, the world crying for love & compassion… It’s a must to get this anthem out as soon as possible. The time is now.

i have a challenge for you: all of them. for joss.
I WILL TAKE THAT CHALLENGE
1. Who takes the trash out?
JOE OMG bess is a very anti-trash-taking-out just like I am
2. Who reminds the other to take care of themselves?
you knowwwwwww, I feel like both of them are very much TREAT YO SELF type of people, so neither of them really need that reminder, if that makes sense :D
3. Who is happier when they are out in nature?
NOT BESS. I REPEAT: NOT BESS. she gets hot and sweaty and uncomfortable and there are bugs and ugh no thank you that is all joe’s territory
4. Do they like to go in the hot tub together?
YES. hot tubs are an essential part of treating yo self (and bess feels v sexy in bathing suits)
5. Do either of them avidly follow a celebrity and/or fandom?
hmmmmmmm....... I think joe is the sort of person to proclaim that things like guilty pleasures don’t exist, so if he’s into the spice girls (and he is, lbh), he wears that badge PROUDLY and loudly, while..... I feel like bess would clearly stan beyonce. she just strikes me as the type™
6. Who builds a pillow fort?
BOTH OF THEM TOGETHER
7. Who plans the romantic date?
you know, I actually think joe knows to plan them, because bess likes being wined and dined, and joe knows how to be a romantic (while frank struggles)
8. Who likes to play with the other’s hair?
joe absolutely 100% plays with bess hair. he thinks it’s magical and so so soft
9. Who calms the other down when the other has a nightmare?
joe has nightmares that are pretty awful sometimes (and he aaaaaabsolutely talks in his sleep) and bess is good at waking him up and calming him down, usually with cuddles whenever that happens and he starts thrashing in his sleep (because he definitely sleeps like a log even with his nightmares)
10. Who wants their dog to sleep on the bed with them?
I’m gonna go with both of them, if they end up having a dog, though bess likes her foot room and her feet tend to protest that space being taken away from her :p
11. Who can’t sleep without the other?
bess, for suuuuuure. she gets so used to having joe there to cuddle up to that when he’s not there she literally goes and buys herself a ryan gosling body pillow (at which point joe of course teases her endlessly about how she ~cheats on him whenever he’s gone on a case)
12. Who is too nice and will listen to a sales person pitch?
both of them, at which point the other person jumps in to rescue them with the absolutely most ridiculous, awkward excuses, like joe comes to rescue bess like “honey, you were going to help me wax my legs, remember?” and bess rescues joe by saying something along the lines of “the microwave is on fire, could you come help?”
13. Who makes the first move to cuddle?
they’re both cuddlebugs, I think, but I think bess might trump even joe’s inclination toward cuddles (at this point, they turn it into a contest to see who can cuddle the other person more, one that gets more and more intense over time)
14. What is their go-to fast food place?
basically any place (no diets, no guilty pleasures), but they both absolutely loooooooove donuts
15. Who likes to wear the other’s sweaters?
oh, bess LIVES in joe’s sweaters. they’re so  big and so comfy and if she just wears leggings underneath no one knows that she isn’t wearing a bra :D
Who is louder?
BESS. I actually feel like bess would be loud almost to the point of absurdity?? like at first joe thinks she’s acting. but then he realizes that she legit can’t help it. at which point he realizes they might have A Problem during family visits or in apartments
Who is more experimental?
both of them! they do their research and set up a day every month (idk like the 1st or sth) when they both present things to try out, no matter how minor. like one time joe suggests that they try this new sex position called something absolutely hilarious and ridiculous and maybe bess brings home fuzzy handcuffs and then they try to combine the two because they’re just great like that
Who takes more risks?
I feel like this one is a lot like the last one! so both, really! but I think bess might try to go riskier just one time?? and ofc the second she does that it turns into a contest because of course it does
Do they fuck or make love?
MAKE LOVE omg not even a question
Lights on or off?
lights on! it might start with lights off but then bess gets more certain about her sexual ~aptitude and joe is awesome and reassuring
Who is more likely to be caught masturbating?
hahahahaha joe
Who comes first?
UM, BESS, but that’s really mostly because bess comes super duper easily so it doesn’t exactly require a lot of work in the first place
Who is better at oral and who prefers it?
bess is an absolute CHAMP at oral and she likes giving it because she knows how good she is, and, really, WHO IS JOE TO DENY HER? :D
Who is more submissive?
hmmmmmmmmm. I think these two might be switches, buuuuut joe kind of strikes me as the sort who can TOTALLY go for the girl taking charge like he is all about that
Who usually initiates things?
bess! she has a great sex drive and knowing that, joe doesn’t want to ~push her when she isn’t already in the mood (plus that means it’s porn watching time which he ceeertainly doesn’t mind)
Who is more sensitive?
BESS, as aforementioned :D

Idk where you get the idea that feminism is anything like you say it is but... maybe you should get off tumblr? I literally don't know one single feminist like the ones you describe and I'm deep in the movement. Stop basing your opinion off parodies.
This is going to be fun. If you don’t know a single feminist like the ones I describe and interact with throughout my blog, then you either live in your bedroom, completely shut off to the world or the more logical choice and that’s you’re a complete fucking liar. Let’s have a little look into some of these feminists, that you just so happen to conveniently know nothing of their existence.
First of all let’s look at some of the horrible shit feminists have done:
The feminist group WAR has petitioned to have the government stop prosecuting women for filing false accusations.
Feminist Mary Koss denies male rape victims.
Feminists violently protesting against Warren Farrell at U of Toronto.
17,000 feminists at protest attack and sexually molesting a group of Rosary-praying Catholic men who were peacefully protecting the cathedral.
Feminists shut down a talk about male suicide and force university to stop acknowledging International Men’s Day
Feminists shut down forum for battered husbands.
Feminists started a campaign against Father’s rights groups
Feminists fought against laws granting men anonymity until charged with the crime of rape—not convicted, just charged.
Feminists fought against a law to end to the justice system favoring women simply because they are women, and giving men harsher sentences simply because they are men.
Feminist fought against men want equal treatment when victims of domestic violence, and to not be arrested for the crime of “being male” under primary aggressor policies.
Feminists force university president to resign after he claimed that we should all be entitled to free-speech
Feminists in India and Israel fought against female rapists being arrested, charged and convicted of rape.
Feminists harass and abuse teacher because his wife said that people should be allowed to wear Halloween outfits
Feminists fought against a economic stimulus for male-dominated job such as construction, etc.
Feminist fought a law against  Paternity Fraud.
Hateful Quotes by Feminsts
Feminist Harriet Harman has publicly requested employers to hire women in preference to White men if both job candidates are equally
Equality Minister, feminist Patricia Hewitt, was found guilty of breaching the Sex Discrimination Act by “overlooking a strong male candidate for a job in favour of a weaker female applicant”.
The lesbian feminist prime minister Johanna Sigurdardottir has vowed to “end of the Age of Testosterone
Feminists want to make peeing while standing illegal
Erin Pizzey had to flee the UK because she and her family received death threats and her dog murdered all because feminists didn’t like that she discovered women were equally as violent as men.
Also Suzanne Steinmetz and her children received death threats and bomb threats she discovered that  the rate at which men were victimized by domestic violence was similar to the rate for women.
Richard Gelles and Murray Straus  have all received death threats from feminists, simply for publishing their findings (that female-to-male family violence was equal to the rate of male-to-female violence).
Feminist attacks male cartoonist and is hailed a hero of feminism.
Try to shut down female prisons.
Feminists prevent a meeting about male suicide.
Jezebel mocks men who are abused.
Create rape laws that exclude female rapists.
Make it impossible to charge women with rape.
Feminists force children to swear in propaganda videos
Feminists create propaganda videos encouraging to kill men
Feminists don’t want the gov to help unemployed men.
Feminists say men can’t talk about domestic abuse.
Feminists cover up female domestic abuse stats.
Now let’s take a look at just some of the things they have had meltdowns over:
Domino’s pizza boxes A campaign slogan written on a Domino’s pizza box, which conveyed their refusal to adhere to requested toppings changes on their artisan pizzas as a good thing, is sexist, as it perpetuates “rape culture.”
Science The University of Wisconsin - Madison (UW) offers “a post-doctorate in ‘feminist biology’ because biological science is rife with sexism and must be changed to reflect feminist thinking.”
Voting for Donald Trump If you voted for Trump in the primary, it was clearly a sexist reactionary vote to the tsunami of Girl Power taking over America, according to Salon. Obviously, this “logic” extends to your vote in the general.
Fireworks Sexist fireworks are nothing more than a symptom of toxic masculinity: “Isn’t it sort of messed up that we celebrate our freedom by pretending to blow things up? Like a strange, collective working out of trauma,” explains NPR reporter Sarah McCammon.
Lab Rats Barbra Streisand explains: “Gender inequality even extends to mice in the labs. They’re all male! …So even female mice are discriminated against! When I asked why, the answer I got was that female mice have hormones so they’re more complex. Well, so are women!”
Calling a “pantsuit” a “pantsuit” As the New York Post points out, feminists find the word “pantsuit” sexist: Although pantsuits and traditional men’s suits are stylistically different, it’s sexist to differentiate between them with the added word “pant.”
Bras Bras are sexist because men don’t have to wear them.
Architecture As one progressive art professor explained: “architectural design has been dominated by men in order to promote a social/political order dominated by men.”
Complimenting a woman on her cooking According to Scientific American, complimenting a woman on her cooking reinforces gender stereotypes, and is a form of “benevolent sexism.”
Air conditioning Women are cold while men bask in the sexist office air conditioning.
The word “too” In a piece titled “The 3-Letter Word That Cuts Women Down Every Day,” Huffington Post’s Cameron Schaeffer explains that use of the adverb “too” promotes the pretense that women are never good enough; they are either “too” this or “too” that.
Tickling Posting in America’s favorite feminist site we swore was satirical, Everyday Feminism, male feminist Jamie Utt explains that his incessant playful tickling of his girlfriend is actually rooted in inherent sexism, which was fostered by the patriarchy. Essentially, Jamie tickling his girlfriend is perpetuating rape culture: “Taken to its destructive ends, this can look like a million different violations of consent,” warns Utt.
Ski slopes A published academic report in The International Review for the Sociology of Sports concluded ski slopes are sexist because they are ‘masculinized spaces,’” reports the Daily Wire’s Pardes Seleh.
The alphabet The written language established “the patriarchy” and subsequently all of the world’s sexism, claim feminists.
Disliking pumpkin-spice lattes Katherine Timpf at National Review reports: “According to a Swarthmore College student’s op-ed, the real reason that people make fun of pumpkin-spice lattes is that our society thinks everything girls like is stupid because ‘girls don’t get to have valid emotions.’”
Preferring a woman shaves her legs Everyday Feminism explains that online dating sites like OKCupid help us “weed out misogynists” by asking questions like, “Do you think women have the obligation to keep their legs shaved?” If a man answers yes, he’s a sexist.
Emojis There are no menstruation-themed emojis so… sexism.
Wearing camouflageWearing camouflage is “anti-feminist:” Camouflage is representative of “the patriarchy,” so, by wearing such symbolic clothing, you are supporting female (and other “marginalized” groups’) oppression.
The phrase “hit on” This phase is apparently literal to feminists, and thus is considered “violent” sexist language that perpetuates “rape culture.”
Saying “I love women” Bustle explains that when a man says, “I love women,” he’s actually implying that he loves women “more” than men, which “implies that [women] are different, which others them and excludes those who act more ‘like men.’”
The Declaration of Independence Feminists view the Declaration of Independence as “an historical cause of sexism, as the document refers only to ‘all men’ — not ‘men and women.’”
Calling your daughter a “princess” Fathers calling their daughter “princess,” or treating them “special” is any way, is a form of “benevolent sexism.”
Asking a woman about her tattoos A man asking a woman about her tattoos, explains Everyday Feminism, is the equivalent of turning her “body into public property.” One such question given as an example: “How much did it cost?”
“Ladies’ night” UNC seniors protest “ladies’ night” at bars because it is sexist, as the promotional stunt is “demeaning to female bargoers.”
Glaciers “Academics at the University of Oregon have determined that glaciers and the science that studies them are deeply sexist.” “Merging feminist postcolonial science studies and feminist political ecology, the feminist glaciology framework generates robust analysis of gender, power, and epistemologies in dynamic social-ecological systems, thereby leading to more just and equitable science and human-ice interactions,” reads the abstract of an academic paper on the matter.
Long lines outside public women’s restrooms “Long lines for women’s restrooms are the result of a history that favors men’s bodies,” proclaims Soraya Chemaly, in a TIME piece. “Women are still forced to stand in lines at malls, schools, stadiums, concerts, fair grounds, theme parks, and other crowded public spaces,” she explains. “This is frustrating, uncomfortable, and, in some circumstances, humiliating. It’s also a form of discrimination, as it disproportionately affects women.”
Men grilling food When men grill food, they are only reaffirming “gender roles.” A self-loathing male feminist at explains he has fallen into a “societal trap.”
The animated film “Minions” The animated film was full of “gags,” adhering “to only the most rigid and nauseating gender tropes,” complains a feminist blogger. Plus, minions conveniently “only ever serve men.”
String cheese According to this feminist, string cheese is sexist.
Words with “man” in them According to the Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies Program website at the University of Pittsburg, words like “mankind,” “freshman” and “chairman” are sexist. “'Terms to Use to Avoid Sexist Language’ are also included in an attempt to steer students away from using words like ‘mankind,’ ‘chairman,’ and ‘freshman.’ Instead, they ought to be replaced with gender-neutral options such as ‘humankind,’ ‘chair or chairperson,’ and ‘first year student.’”
Speech improvement apps Speech improvement apps like “Ummo,” which tracks non-filler words, such as “like” and “uh,” are sexist because they are  “policing women’s language.”
Shoe compliments Shoe compliments are apparently “sexist micro-aggressions.” UNC faculty members were advised against paying a woman a shoe compliment, since this is coded language for: “I notice how you look and dress more than I value your intellectual contributions.”
The color pink Since there is an undeniable knee-jerk association of the color pink with women and femininity (which in it of itself is sexist, according to feminists), when men refrain from wearing the color, they are actually saying that it’s “shameful to be a woman.”
Hating the feminist “Ghostbusters” reboot. According to a feminist at The Atlantic, the “outcry” over how crappy the new feminist “Ghostbusters” trailer was fueled by your sexism.
Spooning Spooning is apparently so sexist that Slate felt it necessary to write an entire “manifesto” against it. According to J. Bryan Lowder, the heart of spooning reveals a sexist power struggle, and reaffirms gender stereotypes: The “big spoon” is dominant and male, whereas the “little spoon” is submissive and female.
Telling a woman, “you look tired” “Chances are if a woman has a totally bare face, she’ll be told by both male and female colleagues that she looks exhausted, hungover or ill … people are so used to seeing made-up women at work that an au naturale face seems anything but natural,” Radhika Sanghani writes in a piece oh-so-aptly titled “It’s sexist to tell a woman she ‘looks tired’ at work.”
Mine shaft According to college feminists, the “phallic” words “mine shaft” contribute to “rape culture,” reports Heat Street.
Tampons Women should be able to “free bleed” without the use of sexist tampons, which are only used by women because men “period shame” them. Feminists have even run marathons while “free bleeding” in protest of good hygiene apparently mandated by “the patriarchy.”
Asking a woman to marry you The sexist dominant/submissive power dynamic behind a man asking a woman to marry him acts to reinforce “rape culture,” feminists argue.
Harry Potter The fictional “Happy Potter” books and films are sexist, as they “perpetuate rape culture” by using magical love potions on fictional characters without “consent.”
Indiana Jones There are “copious quantities of racism and sexism” in the “Indiana Jones” films, says Salon’s Matthew Rozsa. For instance, women in the films are often depicted as “materialistic, self-absorbed and shrill.”
Calling a woman “sweetheart” Feminist actresses Lena Dunham and Emma Stone say that calling a woman “sweetheart” (also “honey,” “baby,” or “babe”) is demeaning to women, and can be “just as damaging as any other name-calling” like “bitch.”
Telling a woman, “you look tired” “Chances are if a woman has a totally bare face, she’ll be told by both male and female colleagues that she looks exhausted, hungover or ill … people are so used to seeing made-up women at work that an au naturale face seems anything but natural,” Radhika Sanghani writes in a piece oh-so-aptly titled “It’s sexist to tell a woman she ‘looks tired’ at work — and here’s why.”
Comic books and graphic novels Female characters in comic books and graphic novels are portrayed with “a blatant sexualization that artists would not dare to submit their treasured male characters to,” complains an opinion piece in The Guardian.
Putting your arm around your girlfriend When a man puts his arm around his girlfriend, he is expressing “ownership” over her, says feminist actress Helen Mirren: “It annoys me when I see men with an arm slung around their girlfriend’s shoulders,” she said. “It’s like ownership.”
The nuclear family Leftist UT Professor Dana Cloud says that sexism is perpetuated through the traditional family structure, which is itself “oppressive” to women.
Slow motion Showing women in videos in slow motion invokes misogynistic “Baywatch” imagery and acts to objectify women. This was recently categorized as sexist after feminists freaked out over a promotional soccer video which featured female fans cheering in slow motion.
Complaining about political correctness If someone complains that something is politically incorrect, they are really just a misogynist using such language as a cover to say/do sexist things, says Everyday Feminism. Also, they are likely a racist.
“Boyfriend” jeans “Boyfriend” style jeans are sexist for a whole lot of reasons, apparently. Being created to benefit the ‘male gaze’ is the main issue.
Farting “By farting louder the man is using passive aggressive violence to position himself as dominant, this intimidates the woman to subconsciously not release as much flatulence and thus the woman fearing for her safety doesn’t fart as loud as a sign of submissiveness, this in turn contributes to rape culture and women being oppressed.”
Interrupting a woman This is apparently not just rude behavior, but sexist, since it’s really a symptom of the patriarchy teaching men that women deserve to be interrupted, as they are not your equal but your inferior.
The derogatory phrase “go f*ck yourself” To feminists, “go f*ck yourself” is not just a nasty, derogatory phrase used by both sexes, it’s sexist against women because it reinforces “rape culture.”
The word “cupcake” The word “cupcake” enforces the gender stereotypes that women and girls are weak, frail and need protection.
Witchcraft According to internet feminists, witchcraft is sexist because it’s woman-centric.
Hollywood There are far too many white men casted as leads and working behind the camera, notes Salon. “Hollywood’s diversity crisis is even worse than we thought: Straight white men still rule, on screen and off.”
The phrase “I will force myself” Apparently, saying that you will “force” yourself to do something is coded language for it’s-okay-to-rape-women. This “violent” language perpetuates “rape culture,” feminists say.
Professionalism “Professionalism” in the workplace is “oppressive” toward women, as it reinforces “social hierarchies that value white maleness above all,” feminists say.
The word “ladies” The word “ladies” reeks of “paternalistic condescension,” according to feminists
Complimenting a woman’s handwriting Apparently, telling a woman she has “nice handwriting” is sexist. The reason why it’s “sexist” is unknown, as it was fussed over by feminists in Bristol without so much as an explanation.
Men sitting with their knees apart “Manspreading” is “an assertion of male dominance,” and “every one” of the manspreaders does it because he feels like he has to “claim his territory and his manhood in this public space, even at the discomfort of all the other passengers.”
Running against Hillary Clinton A feminist reporter from the New York Times suggested that it was sexist for Bernie Sanders to run against Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Democratic primary, as it might have blocked Hillary from becoming the first female nominee of a major party.
The word “cheer” The word “cheer” was stricken from a college fight song, as the word was thought to “devalue the accomplishments of female students.”
Clapping Citing ‘triggering’ concerns, feminist convention bans clapping, replaces with ‘Jazz Hands’. ‘Clicking fingers’ is also replacing clapping at universities as it’s safer.
Having to pay for a tampon Feminists are upset that they have to pay for their own basic hygiene—which is obviously a condition of the patriarchy oppressing women who can’t escape their period due to sexist biology.
Finding purpose in motherhood Finding purpose in motherhood is a patriarchal trap, as seen when feminists lost their minds over singer Adele proclaiming such an anti-feminist sentiment.
Not supporting Hillary Clinton for president If you don’t support the candidate with a uterus, and you have a uterus, there is a special place in hell for you.
Of course, if you’re a man and don’t support Hillary, you’re obviously pro-female-oppression and can’t stomach the thought of a uterus occupying the White House.
Man caves Man caves are a “disgusting patriarchal myth” and often “exclude” women, therefore, they are sexist.
Reports that a celebrity might be pregnant “Ban the bump-watch: Beyoncé’s belly scrutiny is sexist, invasive and bad for all women,” reads a Salon headline. I mean, why does the sexist media only notice a “baby bump” with women? Sexist biology strikes again.
A Target t-shirt A t-shirt sold in Target with the word “Trophy” on it is “demeaning to women,” feminists complain.
A prom photo A prom photo caused outrage as it shows boys in “thought” and girls “smiling,” the photo perpetuates some negative, sexist stereotypes, apparently.
School dances The expectation that boys have to ask girls to the dance acts to reinforce sexist gender stereotypes.
Telling young boys, “you need a haircut” By telling a young boy that he “needs a haircut,” you are actually telling him that he is looking “too feminine— as if looking feminine is the worst thing a boy can do,” explains a feminist at Bustle.
The word “bossy” The negative connotation of the “gendered” word “bossy” perpetuates the sexist notion that women should not “lead.”
Opening doors for women This is a form of “benevolent sexism,” according to feminists at Everyday Feminism who insist that “chivalry must die.” By opening the door for a woman, you are not being polite, you’re signaling that women are weak and men are here to protect and take care of them. Talk about a loaded gesture.
School and workplace dress codes School and workplace dress codes often conform to what’s deemed “appropriate” to the “male gaze.”
Amazon On Amazon, you can search for “girls’ toys” and “boys’ toys,” such a distinction is sexist.
Gender-specific bathrooms The patriarchy created gender-specific bathrooms to exclude women and treat them as man’s lesser; according to feminists, women wanted in on the men’s room.
A statue “This highly lifelike sculpture has, within just a few hours of its outdoor installation, become a source of apprehension, fear, and triggering thoughts regarding sexual assault for many members of our campus community,” reads the petition in part. “While it may appear humorous, or thought-provoking to some, it has already become a source of undue stress for many Wellesley College students, the majority of whom live, study, and work in this space.” More than 300 students at the women’s liberal-arts college have asked that it be removed. But the naked paintings and sculptures of Trump are celebrated?
Viewing Friday the thirteenth as unlucky “According to the Feminist Internet, Friday the 13th being considered ‘unlucky’ is apparently a manifestation of the patriarchy because Friday is the only day of the week named after a female goddess, and a group of 13 women was considered to be a coven of witches approximately 9 billion years ago.”
The phrase “too much information” According to feminist icon Lena Dunham, “TMI” is used to belittle women’s experiences, where as men are rewarded with for their sharing.
Calling Hillary Clinton “shrill” Calling Hillary Clinton “shrill” is a gendered attack, according to feminists.
Calling a woman “pretty” This is another form of “benevolent sexism.” Men call women pretty to emphasize that all they are worth is their appearance.
The SATs According to The New York Times, SAT testing may feature questions that are viewed as “stereotype threats.” For instance, one math question show that more boys than girls in math classes. Females will apparently lose self-worth over such a “microaggression.”
The “kiss cam” The “kiss cam” clearly acts to perpetuation “misogyny” and “can sexually disempower women” by making women feel obligated to a man.
The Olympics Some sexist announcers covering the Olympics had the audacity to mention that female athletes had children; some even credited a male coach for coaching.
Denying the mythical gender pay gap If you don’t buy into the debunked gender pay-gap myth, you obviously hate women and want them to be paid less than men, according to feminists.
Denying the mythical “rape culture”Denying the politicized and exaggerated “rape culture” means you’re a sexist who doesn’t want to combat rape.
Being pro-life If you believe that babies should not be killed in the womb, you actually hate “empowered women.”
Being a Republican And of course: All Republicans are sexist woman-haters, just ask disgraced DNC chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.
Let me guess, these women aren’t feminists or they may not exist altogether? You claim you’re deep in the movement, maybe that’s why you’re denying the facts, as usual. Fuck off

i was at the woman's march yesterday and it was amazing but already i'm so sick of the Discourse about it today. what stands out the most is someone saying "you are privileged to only experience one oppression" which? yes? i guess? idk i just think there's a better way to say that. and i think there's a better way to talk about how to make feminism more inclusive without denying the fact that terms like "pussy" "vagina" and "uterus" ARE important, especially considering Trump's words and action
I’ve been sitting on this ask for a few days because I just haven’t quite known how to respond, so get ready for a longish post. I’m focusing in specifically on reproductive issues and the rhetoric surrounding them, since this seems to be what your ask is getting at the most.
I want to preface this by saying that I’m a (mostly) cis woman who wields a lot of cis privilege regardless of my personal relationship with gender. Anything I say on this is to be taken with a grain of salt against a trans person’s word on the matter. And I’m sure there are people out there who can say all this better than I can. But here goes: We should be able to call abortion rights and other uterus-haver issues women’s issues without framing them as issues exclusive to women.
Can we stop acting like the oppressors care at all what your gender is if you have a uterus? The lobbyists and legislators pushing anti-abortion laws are not thinking about the trans men who also have uteruses, and they’re not going to go through all their legal jargon and change every instance of “she” to “they” just to be inclusive in their oppression. Let’s be clear about the motivation behind stripping uterus-havers of their reproductive rights: it’s completely motivated by misogyny and stripping women of their bodily autonomy. That trans men and other afab people are also stripped of their bodily autonomy is just a lucky bonus for the sexist legislators out there.
So, like, there’s trans erasure in the protests because there’s trans erasure in the laws that we’re protesting. I say erasure on the second point with a bit of irony, since I can’t really see how visibility would make a positive difference in lawmakers’ minds. That said, visibility is important in protest and social justice spaces. Lawmakers can’t see the trans people they’re both erasing and implicating in their laws; we (the people) can.
And the same for misogynists like D*nald Tr*mp, whose quote about “grabbing ‘em by the pussy” became the inspiration (for lack of a better word) for many of the signs, chants, and pieces of attire at the march. Pussy hats, “pussy grabs back,” signs that specifically referenced this quote also did another thing: they alienated trans protesters by doing exactly what Tr*mp did and equating having a pussy with being a woman.
We (cis women) need to find the right balance between fighting misogynistic, sex-specific comments & legislation and making sure we are not screaming over trans people who are oppressed in unique ways by these comments and legislation. We need to make sure that in our clamor to be heard, we are still amplifying trans voices and listening to what they have to say. We need to understand that although our bodies are being regulated, we still have privilege.
So while I agree with you that words like “vagina” and “pussy” and “uterus” ARE important especially in light of all that’s been said in the last few months, I also think that a lot of people have a point when they bring up the fact that being a woman and having a vagina aren’t mutually exclusive. A lot of trans women didn’t feel like there was space for them at the marches or that anyone was protesting for them because of all the uterus-centric language. And while, yes, many still marched and made space for themselves, that’s not what being a good feminist is about. Being a good feminist and ally is making sure you make space for other women, especially women who you have institutional power over. It’s making sure you don’t take advantage of that institutional power.
tl;dr Most of the sex-specific rhetoric used by conservatives is misogyny-motivated and incidentally cissexist, but that doesn’t make it not both misogynistic and cissexist. Cis feminists need to find a way to be able to talk about reproductive rights without alienating trans people from the conversation or the fight. We need to listen to trans people and make their concerns our concerns.

Most of their "points" can be boiled down to one central theme, that is, Poor People are personally responsible for being poor. It follows from this that they believe poor people deserve to be poor. Of course this is the central ideology in the religion of modern western individualistic capitalism. This is the successor to Protestant predetermination as a means of seeing who is worthy. Obviously most people in this sub will know this is bullshit. A significant amount of modern wealth is inherited wealth. Another significant amount of wealth arises from systemic and structural inequalities in the world- someone born in the global south will have a much lower chance of being wealthy relative to someone born in the US or Western Europe. And of course, let's not forget wealth that is extracted from the labour of others. Also the site that produces this video is incredibly weird. www.Alux.com is the largest community of Luxury & Fine Living enthusiasts in the World. Alux a world-wide recognized Authority when it comes to ranking the most expensive things in the world It's a wealth fetish site. It just lists "the most expensive " as if something being expensive makes something worthwhile in its own right. I can guarantee you that no one who is actually wealthy looks to them for their advice. Burn it to the ground and salt the earth after it. No good can grow on this ground again. 42 Aeriku • 65d Man this video is a shitstorm of half truths. I could poke holes into any number of points. 15 omfgforealz • 65d Not watching the video but the thumbnail is from that comic that actually doesn't blame poor people from being poor and does a good job of creating a narrative around the privilege of wealth 16 ruaidhri • 65d It's the exact opposite message of the video. The people you know and live amongst makes a massive difference to the opportunities you have in life. 3 AbortusLuciferumAnti-capitalist, Anti-fascist • 65d Poor people are born out of other poor people. Rich people usually have rich parents. We thought this was false, but looking into it we found out it's in fact true. The uncomfortable truth is that it is much easier to be rich when you have rich parents, due to things like inheritance and property inheritance. Poor people usually don't go after these benefits, you'd be amazed how little money and property poor people pass on to the next generation. Thank you for watching Aluxers! And remember, your dreams are yours to take! 13 ShawnManX • 65d This video was very helpful, and helped me come up with some solutions to these problems that I feel could ultimately help everyone escape poverty. Let's make poverty a thing of the past! Encourage people to install an add blocker and go outside more, going outside is expensive so I think this could be an argument for a basic income. Sounds like poor people don't have enough time to cook for themselves, probably because many of them are working 2-3 jobs. Again a basic income would empower poeple to drop one of their side jobs, and use that time to cook their own meals. Bonus, there are now more jobs available so unemployment goes down! Again, a basic income would help the poor buy new clothes, rather than those on sale. I'm starting to think this whole video is a propaganda piece for basic income. This is part of a cycle caused by stress, where financial insecurity causes stress, which leads to poor sleep, and a disrupted sleep cycle makes sleeping at regular times more difficult. Can also make people more unacceptable to illness. Another argument for a basic income, as well as public healthcare. Sports are expensive to go out and do, so while poor it makes sense if you're into a sport to stay home and watch it. With a basic income people could more readily go out and do the sports they love. This stems from disrupted sleep cycles, and working too many jobs. Basic income. Blaming others is fair when you have been dis-empowered. This is terrible advice because for lots of poor people the only solution they have control over anymore is suicide. Basic income gives people an out other than running into traffic/jumping off a bridge. Basic income Basic income Access to birth-control and safe abortions. Public healthcare Basic income Well duh, the rich people don't want to hang out with the poor people. Basic income so they can pull themselves out and make some rich friends. Or at least the friends they already have won't be so poor. This is mostly due to a lack of resources, basic income. Well how can you expect them to help themselves, give them a tool to help them and watch what they achieve. I think they're hinting at basic income again. 10 DrippingYellowMadnes • 65d Poor people never follow through on their ideals or potential Woman who invented the fidget spinner isn’t getting anything 7 minivergur • 65d Donald Trump is wealthy and watches a ton of TV 3 neubs • 65d That's his job now though. How much TV do you think he watched in the 70's and 80's? 1 minivergur • 65d I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic but idk, maybe more, maybe less? 4 93re2 • 65d It's noteworthy that the image the video has before you start playing it was taken from a webcomic that made the point that a person's level of wealth is to a large extent due to a complex web of circumstances far outside their sphere of control. You can see the original here. http://thewireless.co.nz/articles/the-pencilsword-on-a-plate 5 frugalgardeners • 65d You all should Google Tom Corley and his research on "poverty habits". He literally makes a living discussing how poor people are to blame for their misfortune. 4 zwirlo • 65d Sure, that's what poor people do, but if "rich" people were raised in poor households, they would form the same habits. Early life environment and education dominates how successful one will be in life, and how their life will turn out. It's one reason why people with rich parents have kids that end up rich, in addition to the financial support to get a good education. 5 romjpnEmployment is part-time slavery • 64d Their website is pure trash with headlines like this : This Summer Dress Made of Straw Hats is The New Trend Because Hats for Your Head are so Last Season Michael Jordan’s Converse Shoes He wore at the ’84 Olympics Sold for $190k at Auction It's just a product from their marketing department to go viral (negatively or positively). Pure BS. 3 minivergur • 65d I'm really sad that they use this comic for the caption of the video because it's actually a really good explanation of privilege 3 GravitySkies • 65d So the thumbnail image they have is from a comic illustrating the differences between rich and poor, and how poor families often don't have the resources to help their children grow up to become successful. Don't usually comment on this sub but jesus fucking christ. 3 BugsHaveProtein • 65d I didn't think a video could make me so angry. I feel like I'm about to be pitched a pyramid scheme. And the fact that they use such an amazing comic strip as their thumbnail makes it even worse. 3 geniusaurus • 64d Aw man I thought this was going to be sarcastic, but nope pretty sure there are some hideous monsters that believe this shit. 😧 3 Tristanmalo666 • 65d A couple of the points are valid but then they come out with the "They buy clothes on sale" 4 minivergur • 65d Which points in particlar did you agree with? 7
