That’s where you came in.

You had enough background knowledge of ring leaders and crime bosses to call point on this - having worked undercover multiple times in this specific area over your years as an agent. MAGICAL GIRL AU!!! I love magical girls! Can we get some story for this AU? Like how they got their magical girl powers, where the monsters they face come from, the shifts in the family dynamics, what's the name of their magical girl/boy team? Normally magical girls keep their identity secret so 'Magical Madrigals' wouldn't really work

So firstly, they get their powers two years before canon. Their relationships are similar to canon, but get mended far earlier on because the more they fight together, the more they have to work together and generally just get along. Little Guardian Pedro kinda made them get along as well. Antonio was around 3 at the time, so he was more of a moral support, and didn’t get a weapon until after Mirabel’s birthday but before his own.

They wear brooches, which activate their powers. Like I said, I LOVE the Precure pacts, but they aren’t very inconspicuous, and personally I think brooches would be easy to cover up for if anyone ever asked. “It was a gift!” “Oh, I don’t take it off cause I like it so much!” Etc etc. as for a name, I’m not sure 💀 tbh I only used magical Madrigals cause I needed a placeholder name for the AU 😭

Attacks are subject to change but their powers and weapons stay the same. Close to their gift or not. Isabela had a staff and can create plants, duh; she has more creative ability. She doesn’t have to really use regular plants, they can be completely made up as well.

Dolores has a boomerang that, depending on the force she puts behind it and how she throws it, can alter the sound barrier, or in her powered up mode, break it (this doesn’t hurt her, the other team members or innocents).

Luisa is still super strength, but she also has a higher stamina naturally, higher than usual anyway. She can use her scepter to buff the other teammates abilities, but she can only do one at a time,but for an indefinite amount of time.

Camilo has a sword, or rather saber I guess. He trains a lot, so he picks up techniques and what not fast. Idk if you can see it, but the little Diamonds near his head help with his ability, since it doesn’t directly come from his weapon. The ability to disorientate and confuse, to an extent.

Mirabel has spear, and her ability is purification but she can buff, like Luisa (closer to healing I would say). This plays into where the monsters come from, which is still being debating, but let’s say atm that there’s good magic like the candle, but, there is the price of bad magic lurking around in the Encanto, and will target emotionally weak/vulnerable people,or people weak in spirit (mind you, children aren’t exempt from this.)

Antonio is summoning animals. He can’t fully understand them, but understands them enough for them to help in battle. He’s a support I a way, he’s almost never on the front line, too dangerous, but he begs to differ, obviously.

They all have some form of flight/gliding. Hence the little Angel wings. Now they aren’t cruising around like airplanes, but they got hops and an fly for a bit 🥖 These ain’t to scale. Grain of salt.

my first day on tumblr in what feels like a week and i come back to a question that makes me want to ramble like a madman for DAYS. you are so sweet for sending this to me (and im sorry if this ends up being an essay you were not asking for). fun fact: i have had to rewrite my answer to this ask no less than 3 times bc every time i started talking, id go on a tangent about pirates that was in no way relevant to your ask. apologies for taking so long, but yes! here we go! im putting it under a read more bc i cannot for the life of me shut the fuck up.

i do have a pirate au!! maybe one day it will eventually end up seeing the light of day, but as of right now it is sitting in my google docs next to a 95-page doc of all the sources and fun facts and tidbits that i find interesting about pirates. pirates are kinda my thing, idk if thats obvious or not. insert marge simpson i just think theyre neat meme here.

essentially, its pirate!antonio and venetian-not-quite-nobleman!lovino. im still playing around with that venetian part, but idk ill probably keep it, since it makes sense with lovino's family and all that. the entire premise of the story (and what sparked the idea in the first place, apart from me just thinking antonio would look sexy in a pirate captain fit) is that one scene in the strips where romano is reading a history book about how spain spent a ton of money on him when he himself was in rags. we all know spain canonically showered romano in wealth and money, even when he himself was wearing tatters. that idea sat with me for YEARS before i decided to do my own spin on it, culminating in the characters of pirate captain antonio with a grudge against the world and too much to prove seeing bastard lovino who lives in a family of nobles and cannot have any of it, even if he is loved and adored by his family, and who just doesn't????? understand him????? doesnt get why he chose to stay with that family for so long????? without leaving that world behind and being free and cutting himself loose????? he doesnt get the familial attachments and the sense of responsibility lovino has to his family, even if he cannot and will not inherit the title that comes with the vargas name.

antonio ends up raiding their merchant ship they were sailing on and kidnapping him for money or something idk im still playing around with that part, and lovino is just this absolute mystery to him, but ofc this is antonio who is bullheaded in his stubbornness, which i find to be enchanting and cute, and thus we slowly get into the love story of two people who were fucked over tremendously by their societies and their worlds and who just wanted and tbh deserved more, something different, a freedom they would never be able to have in their average life.

smash-cut to however long later and the entire basis of the story is lovino 'i am surrounded by status and wealth and prestige and will have none of it to my name' vargas being adored and cherished by antonio 'love me and i will give you the world, love me and i will give you everything' fernández carriedo. bc!! i!!! think!!! thats!!! neat!!!!

anyway yeah thats kinda where the idea for it came from. i have a few spamano stories written, but i am shamefully lacking any historical hetalia, which is terrible considering history is my entire degree, but im getting there. i hope this in some way answered your ask!!! youre welcome to also hit up my asks or dms if you ever wanna just chat hetalia or anything else, since i too live for this wretched fandom, and have since i was like. idk 12. thank you so much for sending this! i love having an excuse to word vomit about my hyperfixations, and this story has been bouncing in my brain for a frankly disgusting amount of time, and i have only recently decided to put it to paper and make something out of it!

what another insane cliffhanger... my goodness, okay finished with the second book!!!! i just need to ramble a bit.

since i just finished it, i have thoughts on nino.. tbh i was quite fond of him initially but then he got increasingly unbearable haha the way he... says to lenu that since childhood he imagined a life where he, lenu, and lila would be together, and then.. uhm wow..! where the hell does he go! hahaha well maybe ill feel differently about him in the next book.

ngl tho, esp during that part with the elena/lila/nino drama, i was so stressed.. it just kept going!!! and kept feeling like so much!!!! wow. i had just kept thinking that theyd all best sit down and be honest with their feelings for each other and then form a poly relationship and run away together or something idk hahaha

okay i think one of my most favorite things about this book is how important every character feels. obviously we have lenu and lila, but like the rest of the cast?? they were not just some random childhood friends mentioned in the first book, they all are growing up too and are experiencing lives of their own. i think this book, more than in the first book, showed a lot of parent/child relationships, mm like how much we fear to become our parents.. to be inevitably trapped in the same fate as theirs. its in my mind a lot, about how much the things that happened to my own parents affect me. ahh elenas relationship with her mother.. despite how badly she wishes to not become like her mother, i think she does see her strength and her care for her... (oh god, like when she was sick and her mom comes out of nowhere?? and i think she was torn between feeling embarrassed by her and how capable her mother really was) oh and things like both antonio and ada becoming in different ways like their mother, stefano resembling don achille, lila fearing her son will be stupid, etc and ofc also just... the weight on all of their shoulders to.. hurry up and grow up? ahh. ///tw death tw suicide/// for the peluso siblings to witness their father be literally dragged out their house in front of them for allegedly murdering another man, hearing about his death in prison, busting the door down and seeing their mother hang herself. for the cappuccio siblings to only have their mother, who needed her children to care of her and her mental state more than she could take care of them. hhhh

that reminds me, the whole book i was hoping for more enzo content hahaha we really barely know anything about him at this point but i adore him. and he is there now! altho i wonder how much more we'll hear of him in the next books.

oh yeah, lila talking crazily about educating all the children to make a change starting with their generation... just like me for real... this is pretty much the main reason i studied early education hahaha its silly now when i think about it, but i used to feel like my skull was breaking from how much i felt i needed to find a way to take care and educate of all the children in the world in order to make some sort of difference... to find a way to get every single child to experience love and care from a loving and caring family... god. anyway i mean i still do believe that taking care of and educating the young ppl of our generation can change the world somehow, but it was just rather.. sad? seeing lila go crazy about her son and her very real fear for her son, that he might become like her and her family, unable to escape violence and poverty.

all this talk about a book centered on elena and not a single word about lenu yet ahhh my bad! oh i want to talk about her years at the university, and... gosh. just knowing you just lack something that your classmates from a rich family and background have that youll never have... even tho she quite literally graduated with top scores, she never felt fully capable? never felt enough? the need to work so hard to suppress herself in order to be okay in that city?? aghfh

alright, the ending! with her realizing that her novel (that she described as something that was truly hers to pietro) was basically born out of and deeply connected to lilas blue fairy book... god!!!!! what the hell!!!!! my goodness. she quite literally describes how theyre soulmates, how theyre connected by an invisible thread, how much they mustnt lose each other anymore. and when they finally met again and she finally realizes that "in the world there is nothing to win, that her life was full of varied and foolish adventures as much as mine, and that time simply slipped away without any meaning, and it was good just to see each other so often to hear the mad sound of the brain of one echo in the mad sound of the brain of the other." sobs. i think throughout most of the book, i so desperately wanted the two of them to just... be okay and stop being in constant war with themselves for each other.. but anyway wow, even tho for this second book the two of them arent with each other most of the time, the way their relationship is so hhhhh described so well and is always relevant, its so real wow its so real.

okay done... mm i was thinking that lenu is probably the more relatable character, but i think i identify a lot more with lila? not really bc of her life or the way acts, but the way she thinks maybe? the way she feels about ppl? idk actually, but its probably affecting the way im reading the series. mm starting tmr i wont have as much time as i do now to read, but im hoping i get through the next two books before the end of next month at least!

How about an Encanto AU? I have not fully thought this through but Rua/Leo as Mirabel, the other Signers as the cousins. (I can't remember names for the life of me, but Crow as the shape-shifter, Aki as the plant girl, Ruka/Luna as the one who talks to animals. Perhaps? Idk I'd love to hear your thoughts about where everyone would fit in!)

I like the idea of Rua being the protag without powers, we know he would have loved being one of the Signers XD and he did get a signer mark in the end, like Mirabelle!!

About Ruka, yeah, her being the sibling who could talk with animals (Antonio) fits much better bc she's the last who gets her powers (do you remember the beginning of the movie, where Mirabelle encourages him right before the rite? That part, but with Rua and Ruka, it feels adorable to me! Even though it's a little heart-breaking for Rua) AND because she can talk to the monsters spirits in 5Ds!

Crow as Camilo (shape-shifter) would be so freaking hilarious, sign me up IMMEDIATELY

I don't need to comment on Aki and Isabela tbh, the parallelism is so perfect it really doesn't need any explanation

At this point, only Yusei would be left out... I'm crying bc age wise, the only role left that he could actually FIT IS FREAKING MARIANO HAHAHA (Isabela's bf, who later notices Dolores XD Yusei x Ruka is NOT my ship, but that's what would happen with a direct parallelism, unfortunately. I'd have to bend the main storyline in my favor :V)

I reeeeally wouldn't know about the other characters (Bruno, tia Pepa, Abuela...), they're all older, and I'd have trouble into looking for niche 5Ds characters to get them all in the Madrigal family.

We simply don't have an Abuela (Martha would be an excellent Julieta, Mirabel's mother, but never an Abuela) and Bruno's character is too important to be given to very niche characters... I first thought of Kiryu (I'd have to make him much older, of course)! But Pepa??? Would she be Sherry, with Bruno??? Again, they'd have to be much older-

SOooo yeah, this AU half-works as it is, but with some changes, it's an excellent story!

le guglielmine is. a bit of a doxxing moment bc it's almost a last name to some of us? this doesn't make sense. i mean. not all of us use (a version of) that as a last name bc family tree but. it's our half of the family's last name kinda. i'm Not going to explain it any better so let's move on. it's just my three cousins sara serena & vanessa mostly. permanent girls night out w us whenever it is that we hang out which is Often as fuck esp when hot girl summer starts. this year looks like we're gonna be together 24/7 again yass we're planning to illegally camp on the beach Or get a motel like losers this year idk. anyway ANYWAY! occasionally the squad also includes my liddol brother (gioele) my other cousin (dennis which is sara & vanessa's younger brother) and serena's boyfriend (antonio) . the three Boys aren't permanent sometimes antonio simply cannot come over and most of the time gioele & dennis simply Do Not want to hang out w us so. >:( at the core it's Me Sara Serena & Vanessa and we ROCK sara & vanessa are sisters serena is Technically their aunt (their dad is her brother) and i'm simply a cousin but we were all born like. in the span of five years (serena first. then sara next year. then me next year. then vanessa two years later) we are Too Close in age and we spent Too Much Time together growing up so we all truly just grew up together like we were all batshit little sisters we have the most fun and three out of four of us are gonna move in together by the end of the year for uni reasons !!! and i could Not be more excited!!!!! i wish it could be all four of us but serena does not care to go back to school (queen) the dream Is to live all together at some point obviously but we'll get there. they're my best friends xx

honorable mention to Gioele my beloved brother he is Everything to me i would kill every person i mentioned so far in cold blood for him but also he has so many scars on his arms from my nails . i'm 20 years old and we're still on the floor beating each other up like kids almost every day after dinner and it's Fine it's Ok i love him so much. nicknames for him include Jeremy Fisher (like the salad finger puppet guy. no reason i just liked to say that name out loud at the time so i stuck it on him i still have his phone number saved as Jeremy Fisher) or lately it's mostly been Gioia (which does mean Joy and it is because he does bring me so much joy but also just bc his name sounds similar lmao)

i got tags for some of my discord server squads such as the cliche (not a typo. not one WE made at least we just decided to call ourselves that to spite our biggest enemy) and i THINK i have sort of a tag for the taxers and i KNOW i have a triumvirate tag which is abt. me and two specific taxers (mud & anna who also have their own solo tags as a treat <3) unfort i'm Shit at keeping up too many conversations and i lost track of discord a long time ago but they??? they mean so much to me! all of them! ahhhh

Presenting: Dawn and Leo Madrigal

This was originally gonna be a post about me being a Madrigal but I couldn’t decide between the two gifts I’d think I’d have, so I’ve made them into two Madrigal family OCs

Info on them under the cut!

Main info:

They’re adopted into the family. Idk how. Maybe Bruno found them and just took them in. I dunno. Bruno is their dad now I guess

They’re siblings by heart and are both introverts who like to avoid confrontation as much as possible

Leo will also wear dark green to match with Bruno. Dawn has a green skirt to match but prefers her orange and yellow ones

Camilo is Leo’s favorite primo because they’re very similar. Both like snacking and messing around

Neither of them like Isabella tbh. But Leo does like eating random flower petals from her sometimes for some reason

Leo is honestly kinda scared of Pepa but loves Felix. Also scared of Luisa

Dawn leans more for Agustin and Leo leans more to Felix in terms of secondary father figures. They both lean towards Julieta more than Pepa for mother figures.

Leo is probably the most distraught when Bruno leaves. I dunno how old to make either of them but they would be very sad

I don’t want their ages to intrude on Mirabel’s gift ceremony being the last one before Antonio’s, but then they’d have to be 15 or older. Let’s say Leo is 15, slightly younger than Camilo but still older than Mirabel. Dawn is about 17ish. I’m still working it out

Post movie, they try to hang out with Bruno as often as they can

They get really into Bruno’s rat telenovelas

Julieta has to keep Bruno and Leo from letting too many rats into the kitchen

Leo’s Invisibility:

Hes pretty anxious, so Leo would be invisible or hiding a lot

If they’re surprised, scared, embarrassed, or get caught doing something they shouldn’t be doing, they turn invisible on reflex

Wears black so he doesn’t always have to be invisible when sneaking around at night. Regrets it during hot days but it’s kinda his color scheme now

Not sure what his room would look like tbh. Prolly a lot a tough glass furniture and stuff so it’s like invisible walls almost. That’d be cool

(Until I find a way where Invisibility could help people-) Abuela has no real idea on what to do with him tbh and just leaves him to help Julieta and the others. Leo does feel useless sometimes but he really likes the free time and usually takes long walks around town

Maybe invisibility can him help catch animals like birds since they can’t see him coming. I dunno

I just imagine Leo having to visit Julieta often because he keeps getting hit and bumped around because people can’t see him. Packs a bunch of arepas and other treats with him because of that and because he just likes to snack a lot

Probably just about as sneaky as Camilo is in midnight kitchen raids but totally ditches him if they get caught

Figured out where Bruno went after like three or four years (idk) after he left because they caught him stealing arepas from the kitchen and just followed him back to his wall hideout. He visits often but promised to keep it a secret. He’d bring Dawn with him but she’s either too busy or tired whenever it’s a good time to sneak over

When the magic is gone, he is very self conscious that people can see him and often hides behind Camilo or Felix

Dawn’s Light:

She makes small balls of light that can be left lit up. The brightness and length of time they stay lit up depends on how energized she is and how much effort she puts in while making them. They usually stay lit longer if encased in something like a glass jar (to make a lightbulb I guess)

Other people can’t hold them as carefully as she can, the balls slip through their hands like soap. If something hits a ball hard, it will break and disperse. The lights will phase through objects that are much smaller than them but will gently bounce off anything else

The lights can be different colors but light yellow/white is the default and usually the go to. Changing between different colors is difficult, so she doesn’t do it unless it’s a very special occasion

Spheres are the default but she can also make different shapes out of the light, like cubes or just the outline of a square, but it is extremely energy consuming, difficult, and not even worth the amount of effort put into them as you can just get a star shaped bottle to put it in and you’d get a similar result. If she does ever make them, she does it in the comfort of her room/the Casita

If she’s not focusing on how bright she wants the balls to be, they, and any others near her, shine bright when she’s happy, dim when sad or tired, flicker when angry or troubled, and flash very brightly for a second when surprised. Even when she’s sleeping or unconscious, they still glow, just not as bright as usual

Her room is filled with stained glass and lanterns that her lights are situated in/around. There are also very pretty light fixtures that she would never make outside her room, like a light fountain (Its like one of those mist fountains almost), a section of floor that lights up when you walk on it, star shaped lights on the ceiling with accurate constellations from the night sky.

She actually doesn’t know how to turn off the lights in her room and has taken to throwing blankets and whatever over them so she can actually sleep or if the brightness gives her a headache

The lights stay lit forever in her room as they’re powered by the Casita. It’s also easier to create lights in her room as she’s aided by the magic in the room, but if the lights are taken outside, they’ll eventually go out like normal

Three to nine small bright floating balls of light constantly follow her around. They change shapes and sometimes change color depending on her mood. They don’t cost her energy as much as her normal lights do. She tried to trap them in small jars to hang on a clothing piece or bag, but they just phased out of it

Eyes glow sometimes. This is another reason why she likes Bruno. She can change the glow color of her eyes like she does lights but not the eye color itself. They might also glow when she’s feeling a very strong mood like happiness or anger. They’re very helpful to see in the dark and even give off a very faint glow when in the dark by default.

She’s tasked to make balls of light and put them up in lamps that are posted all around the town when night falls. This keeps her up late some nights and sometimes miss dinner and almost always sleep past breakfast. She packs dinner with her if she remembers to, if she doesn’t, then you’re gonna find her passed out in the kitchen

Has worn sunglasses ever since she got her gift because she kept accidentally blinding herself. Wears eye masks to sleep a lot unless she just randomly passes out

She’s so used to having a bright room when going to bed that that, plus her late night hours, make her very liable to falling asleep in broad daylight.

if she doesn’t want her bright room lights in her face, she sometimes sleeps in a different room, like the kitchen, for example. Multiple times family members have almost told her off for mistaking her as Camilo sneaking late night snacks but usually realize it’s just her passed out tired from her night shift and whatever food she’s caught with is her dinner that they saved for her

Really hates moths and other bugs attracted to lights

Can and has temporarily blinded people before and really doesn’t feel that bad about it

If she’s particularly mad at one of her family members, she’ll change the lighting color in their rooms to something threatening and difficult to see in like a dim dark red. She’ll also plant green lights in Isabella’s room to spite her plants

Has burnt her hand in a lit candle before, mistaking it as one of her lights

When the magic is gone, she gets some well deserved sleep but needs Julieta, Bruno, or someone to comfort her because she’s never slept, or been in complete darkness before. She gets like a little nightlight candle or smth. Probably burns her hands more often

Post-movie, residents start using more candles for their lamp posts instead of just depending on her. They also manage their light schedule system better. Like where she’ll actually need to put lights and to avoid lighting rarely used streets and pathways.

She gets a better sleep schedule. It’s still bad, but it’s a little better mostly. She gets more control over her power so she can get more comfortable with sleeping in the dark/very dimly lit rooms
