My Chapter 51 Thoughts and my thoughts around ShimaMitsu in general

So @mapoeggplant​ had a really cool discussion thread on twitter and I wanted to contribute to it. But I got very longwinded and now idk if the pics in my google doc even loaded... so I decided to share my thoughts here on tumblr as well!

Be warned, this post is littered with manga spoilers so if you are an anime-only or haven’t caught up to the most recent chapters, avoid this post so you don’t have the journey spoiled for yourself ^o^

Mika realizing something is up with Mitsumiー Mika is definitely a character that surprised me in how much I ended up liking her! Everyone in S&L I think is a subversion of popular tropes in manga’s past where on the surface they look like a trope and then boom, sensei hits us with a reality check and explanation as to how they are. Mika is clearly the ‘mean girl in shoujo who hates the protagonist by virtue of crushing on the male lead’. *Worry not, I’m aware S&L is a seinen*

But her maturity and growth over the series? Astounding. From reconciling with her envy of Mitsumi, Nao helping her come to terms with the idea of Mitsumi and Sousuke dating hypothetically in the future and becoming such a good friend? Love it.

So I love how Mika is the first to really notice that something is off with Mitsumi in regards to Sousuke.

Pretty sure that back in chapter 47 it was established that all of the girls have noticed something was off with Mitsumi. But they decided to respect her privacy because if she wants to tell them what’s wrong, she’ll tell them and they want to give her the chance to come to them first. Though they did express they were worried she wasn’t truly seeming like herself.

And the reason Mika starting to connect the dots this most recent chapter is so ‘big’ for me, for lack of a better word, is because it really puts into perspective how Mitsumi has been handling the breakup.

Mitsumi breaking things off with Sousuke was definitely a mature move. I’ve even been in the same position of breaking things off with a relationship because of feeling like the way we loved each other was different and it would be best to go back to friends. Then spending 2 years chatting with my ex as if nothing happened before having an emotional breakdown about it and needing two weeks of space from her before I could function around her. And it feels like Mitsumi is doing the same thing with Sousuke. But by virtue of Mika spotting Mitsumi’s discomfort in sitting next to Sousuke and starting to question things, it really solidifies how Mitsumi is processing things.

Like, Mitsumi telling Sousuke she can work on her own and such when he proposed the idea when she mentioned wanting to work to get Maharu a new wallet. She wasn’t just brushing it off and being all chill, kumbaya. She was more than likely trying to avoid him because she isn’t really ready to just be alone with him yet.

So I’m hoping in this arc that Mika is going to bring up what she’s noticed to Mitsumi. Because since she’s already processed her feelings, if Mitsumi were to admit to her that she and Sousuke dated briefly before she ended things it wouldn’t make Mika spiteful or anything weird like that. If anything, I think it would bring them closer together because if there is anyone who would understand the Sousuke-failed-relationship/rejection love pains Mitsumi is going through, it would be Mika.

Mitsumi & Sousuke (and Yasaka)ー

As for Mitsumi specifically, I think that her relationship with Sousuke as present is a ripple effect of Yasaka’s statement back during the chapter Mitsumi rightfully called Sousuke out for not standing up for her when she would definitely do it if the roles were reversed.

Immediately after that, we see Mitsumi beginning to contemplate what she said, her perspective of Sousuke and she doesn’t really know how Sousuke was raised, his relationships with his family etc. Like, she knows there is some drama there, based on the school festival arc with the play and running into Sousuke’s childhood friends and mother but she also acknowledges she doesn’t know the full story and how Sousuke came to be how he is today.

While Yasaka’s assessment did give Mitsumi the idea that she should keep in mind how she was raised and how others were raised paints how they become in the present, she is almost like… overly internalizing that and trying to be overly conscious of Sousuke’s feelings. And even the feelings of Maharu. I’m not sure I’d go as far as saying Mitsumi is blaming herself for what they are going through since so far I haven’t really seen anything that would indicate self-blame. The closest you can get to that is her scolding herself for expecting Sousuke to come to her defense just because they’re dating.

When, in reality, while Yasaka is right Mitsumi should keep in mind that Sousuke and her have different frames of reference and she should be considerate of that… Mitsumi was well within her right to be upset that her boyfriend was letting some mean girls shit talk in her face and made no effort to defend her.

Then the next time you see them interact in chapter 45, she essentially brushes that under the rug. She apologizes to Sousuke for getting upset, he says he is going to turn down their party invite and they go their separate ways… But Sousuke never actually apologizes for not standing up for her which, at least in Mitsumi’s eyes, would solidify the idea that she was in the wrong and was expecting too much of her at-the-time boyfriend.

This overly considerate behavior Mitsumi is now displaying even went as far as not wanting to tell her friends about the breakup and everything that led up to it because she was worried about how they would perceive Sousuke and possibly give him some sort of negative treatment in response to how things went. Not to mention, she’d rather just bottle up her feelings than cause a rift in their friend group they’ve had since first year.

When she breaks up with Sousuke, she goes above and beyond in reassuring him they have and always will be friends. Which while that is cool because the hiccups aside, they have a pretty great friendship, Mitsumi isn’t really allowing herself to feel hurt by the breakup and thinks that, while even if a large portion of it is that she and Sousuke’s ‘love’ is different her actions thus far would imply she thinks it is on her for expecting so much. (So I guess there actually is a good portion of self-blame from her, even if subconsciously!) 

And with the most recent chapter, Sousuke gets to see how Mitsumi is hiding how hurt she is by Maharu’s rejection of her gift and her outburst that Mitsumi is only thinking about herself and to me his expression is almost like a parallel to his expression in chapter 46 when Mitsumi broke up with him.

In chapter 46, Sousuke needed comfort. He’s worried about being abandoned or viewed as worthless because he wasn’t able to live up to the ‘use’ or ‘idea’ Mitsumi had of him.

This time, Mitsumi needs comfort and it’s like this moment has essentially confronted Sousuke with the fact that she isn’t as cheerful, mature and invulnerable as she has presented herself to him thus far. So while yes, Yasaka was right in how Mitsumi doesn’t know as much about Sousuke as she thought she did, the reverse is also very true in that Sousuke doesn’t really know Mitsumi as much as he thought he did.

Sprinkle all this into the fact that Sousuke is going through his own whirlwind of emotions regarding Mitsumi, their breakup and how he feels about her. He’s jealous of Ujiie and how close he is with Mitsumi, he feels left out that Mitsumi hasn’t really been including him in activities outside of school and he was pouty and perplexed in chapter 47 about her perspective of the breakup going far as to pout to Chris and Ririka:

And Chris rightfully being confused because he doesn’t get Sousuke’s reaction since back in chapter 42 he didn’t even really know if Sousuke really even liked Mitsumi romantically (as proven by how, when Sousuke told him about the breakup, he automatically assumed Sousuke was dumper and not the dumpee). Now he wants to be closer to her while Mitsumi is essentially going ‘I want to keep everything chill and normal but at the same time I’m still upset and trying not to be next to him for extended periods of time just yet’.

Fast forward to chapter 51 and Sousuke’s in Mitsumi’s childhood home and feeling out of place/out of his element. So this is all the recipe for him to confront his own misconceptions of Mitsumi and, hopefully, apologize for his part in the breakup and how he should have stood up for her. Which we do see him do later in chapter 50 when she isn’t present, but Sousuke has the self-awareness to know and bitterly accept that if Mitsumi hadn’t called him out before he likely would have let them continue talking poorly about her.

Maharu & Mitsumiー Now onto Maharu~ I’m fully looking forward to her part in this arc because it is very clear that she is dealing with insecurities regarding herself and her older sister. Mitsumi has been confirmed by multiple characters that she is essentially a prodigy in her hometown and her hometown is being hit with a very real-life problem the Japanese countryside faces. Like, it is to the point where schools in the countryside are shutting down because there aren’t enough students to justify keeping them open because the young people are leaving for the city, not returning and not raising their kids there (which most people aren’t doing anyway due to the decline in birthrates in recent years for Japan).

Mitsumi even went as far as telling Sousuke her thoughts that she might likely be the only one of her siblings to even leave their prefecture.

We don’t really know how much Mitsumi is discussed back in her hometown, but it must be enough to make Maharu feel the way she does. It is just unfortunately manifesting in taking things out on her sister rather than talking to her parents about how she feels or even trying to discuss it with Mitsumi. Hell, talking to Mitsumi about it first probably won’t even help things come to a positive conclusion. As it stands now, Maharu’s perception of her sister is that Mitsumi looks down on her for getting out of the prefecture and going to the holy grail that is the capital of their country for school.

She needs an outside perspective that isn’t ‘tainted’ by Mitsumi.

Mitsumi’s friends from Tokyo are out because 1) they are Mitsumi’s friends and 2) Maharu already is feeling insecure and putting them on a pedestal because they are Tokyonites and fancy people.

Her family is out because Mitsumi is essentially their pride and joy.

And the chapter end with Maharu running into Fumi and while I wanna say ‘Fumi, get in here and rescue this sibling relationship’-

Fumi would still fall under the category of ‘tainted by Mitsumi’ by virtue of being Mitsumi’s best friend, even if Fumi has been shown to be very close to the Iwakura family. So I honestly think it could go either way with Fumi trying to talk to Maharu and help her vent how she feels, but Maharu could easily do that and when Fumi tries to be reasonable Maharu could think that Fumi is trying to take Mitsumi’s side when she is just trying to help give Maharu some outside perspective.

So that would basically summarize all of スキロー thoughts with the most recent chapter sensei has delivered us. I’m loving it all so far and looking very forward to what happens next!

THIS IS THE FIRST PART.

idk why but i wanna show tumblr my aranara quests themed custom tarot deck lmao. i finished it in february but since i created this acc just recently, i gotta put it here now. im just really proud of this project and the fact that i actually finished it.

unfortunately tumblr will only allow me to add 10 pics per post, while there are 23 cards, so that kinda sucks. will have to separate em it seems. i'll also explain a little about my choices on these. so here we go, first ten.

0 the fool - "where the journey begins". i think its already a tradition to put some main figure on the fool card and so did i. glad i used his correct design for the card-

basically theres nothing to explain except for the monarch butterfly symbolism, which usually is a sign of a chosen. not like Arama is any "chosen" in a common sense, but i felt like adding this anyway. 6/10 nice Arama card.

I the magican - creation and manipulation. Aranimba got here for his exclusive sense of beauty and the will to create the beauty. he is an artist after all.

the story of the bg is kinda wonky. it was at release of 3.4 and due to my disappointment i made a pic where Aranimba points at that shiny cave northwest the mt. damavand with excitement. well, now its a boss enterance, but back then i had no clue, i made it literally at the release day lol. but it worked well on the bg of this card. i think you wouldnt guess it was that cave if i didnt tell, and that was done on purpose as well. 8/10 for backstory, and im proud of this card overall.

II the high priestess - waiting for the impulse from outside, confidence. first of all, the high priestess to me was always associated with some whimsy loud woman, and if you ask me, this is where Arapacati fits. however here she is depressively hugging a viparyas cuz she kicked her brothers a decade ago and now shes sad. what did i tell u about whimsy woman? 6/10, solid.

III the empress - the mother, fertility, the birth of a new. THIS IS WHERE WE STARTED, THE MAMA. no need to explain why i put Rukkhadevata here? 6/10, i struggled with this card cuz i hate drawing people, but it came out solid imo.

IV the emperor - the father, discipline, responsibility. to remind you, Araja is basically the one who runs the Vanarana dream realm, the tree of dreams. he is also here for a very simple reason because of being a big boss here, and looking like one as well. 7/10, nice mustache.

V the hierophant - attention to visible and invisible, search of the essence. if you ask me why i put Arapandu here, theres my answer - because he was the only major character who didnt have a card in the process of planning. i have some really vague explaination why exactly on hierophant, its mostly because of Varunastra actually, not Arapandu. i honestly dont have any emotional connection to Arapandu, he's kinda boring. 4/10.

VI the lovers - chosen by heart, determination and aspiration. ONLY BECAUSE OF SUCH INTERPRETATION. im against shipping aranara x anyone.

i think i wouldnt even make any better choice for this card whatsoever. they are here because they share dreams and aspirations and i really love their duet. 9/10 i teared.

VII the chariot - knowledge of the world, searching for the new. these goofy guys are here mostly because of "searching for the new", even though their methods were unsafe and archon knows what would happen to these dummies without any sense of self-preservation if we werent around. fact: they've been wondering for at least 4 years, but i love to say a decade. nay, theyre just very lucky. 5/10.

VIII justice - "play nice, and others will play nice with you". this is a card for Nara Varuna specifically and i decided to make both Lumine and Aether so that everyone will be satisfied. since Nara Varuna did nice in the past, all the aranara praise their name in the present.

the bg is again kinda symbolic. these are runes on Varuna contraption: "the water", when the rain pours, for Lumine, and "the sky", when its sunny, for Aether. i only hate how i made them so vague that theyre barely recognizable eh. but overall good cards, 6/10.

valentine's weird shading not-a-tutorial tutorial

let me preface this by saying that i am not very good at tutorials, hence the "not-a-tutorial" in the title. let me continue prefacing this by saying that tumblr's search function is still shit and ass, making me incapable of trying to find the post i wanted to and forcing my hand into making my own instead. if anyone has the link to the post i'm talking about feel free to send it to me or something. anyway let's get into it

so the one thing that helped improve my art's lighting and shading drastically is, instead of thinking shadows being additive, is to think of light being subtractive instead. again emphasis on the words "my art" so this might not work for you personally + this probably also only really works in a digital medium, but like. what do i mean by that?

enlisting the help of that one sketch of ghost/ray i drew once, i've slapped together a few pics that may or may not help make the point i'm trying to make clearer. i dunno, but either way you're gonna want to decide where your light source is coming from first before you start. ok let's go

anyway, this is what i like to call "shadows being additive" or in layman's terms basically just drawing in your shadows by hand instead. this is probably how you've been taught to shade, and it works fine if you know what you're doing! however, since this pic of ghost just Standing There is pretty simple it makes shading this way relatively easy, but if your composition is more complex, you have a bunch of things blocking the light source, and/or you have weird perspective going on; then it might start getting pretty difficult. it sure as hell did for me in the past anyway

but. what if i told you. that there's a different way to approach shading

now introducing: "light being subtractive" aka drawing in your lights instead. in the real world, objects are naturally shrouded in darkness until a light source is present. this fact is then reflected in this shading style by having you begin with a layer filled with your shadow color before erasing the areas where your light hits (then refining it later). this style probably works better the more your knowledge of how objects reside within a 3d space is, but either way i personally prefer this shading style bc of how the shadows feel more organic to me + it works fantastic for dramatic lighting as well

honestly your layer mode doesn't even need to be set to multiply either. in a visual novel i released a while ago under a time constraint i chose to shade my sprite using pure black set to normal mode because it was faster to me than actually having to worry about the colors that come with using a multiply layer

but uhhh yeah either way that's how i got good at shading i guess by changing the way i approached doing it in the first place. hopefully this helps someone out there. idk man i'm not a professional artist or anything i just do this stuff for fun

Ok so i was rewatching the eps again on my phone & collecting screenshots for my conspiracy board when I found this symbol in the intro 2 d first ep

And I was like wait a min that kinda looks like d ones from the book so i went to see if was true and yep

I don't know if there's anymore symbols scattered around in the other eps or if it was just forshadowing either way its making my brain vibrate. Has anyone else noticed this before? It's so cool

The other things in d intro that seemed a bit weird 2 me was the pics n letters on the fridge, the fact that our 3 guys r coming out of a clock house, and fuking roy looking into d house thru a hole in the wall. The symbolism and metaphors r there guys. I know it but Im putting a pin on unraveling that for ltr cuz I don't have time rn :((

I kept my eyes peeled 4 anything else n then I saw the similarities between the breifcase n his older bro and yellowguy and his imaginary older bro

Both of them were like stuck in the shadow of their younger sibs u know kinda left behind, like the smol suitcase felt inferior n could only watch as his younger was running around being bigger n better, the yellows fake bro was always stuck in the background while yellow took the spotlight,

and they both like lost their shit and injured themselves. The suitcase bro punched a wall n the fake bro literally comitted suicide. Maybe I'm looking to much into this but that kinda intrigued me a bit. Again I'll dissect to that ltr cuz I don't have d time 😔

So the 1st EP was about work & jobs right?

Noticed how like each guy had the same positions in each job?

Duck: (The judge, cryptocurrency, General, astronaut)

At 1st duck's jobs are more centered on power,on bieng a higher authority figure, someone who is respected, admired and successful. He views himself above the rest, he said one needed aggression to get ahead in workplace, (u know w/ the attention freaks part lmao),he narssistic, hes selfish, and is always strivings for better positions, better everything (the vending machine, wanting a better job etc)

He doesn't like this job, he failed at his work tasks, and no one is taking him seriously.

When the screen lady starts singing about stress n shit I was like hold up

First we see, him on the beach with a crab offering him pills. Relaxation=drugs?? An escape from reality perhaps 🤨

Then him walking on a tightrope with a bunch of red things under him (portraying his struggles with his inner demons maybe?? Showing that he is or was barely keeping himself from falling to them??)

This whole thing. The line segments with the relaxing never being an easy straight line,(gotta go thru hell 1st b4 ur happy type of thinking??) And also the colors on the diagram. It's our 3 main guys. Red duck and yellow. (I'll dissect this ltr too no time rn😔)

And this. The coins, (cryptocurrency?? financial issues??) The screw(shitty work jobs maybe) the crab(drugs) the red snake(inner demons?) And the green thing...idk what that is it has scissors n looks like its shushing(untold secrets/issues?) Maybe ita part of himself he doesn't like or harms him

Duck is forced to like his job. He tries to go along with this whole bs, but he can't and snaps causing the hand accident. Is that what happened from before he was dead? Did he cause the death of someone? We know they all died at the same time different places.Then we see ltr that his jobs aren't as powerful as before, he is a mailman, hes a struggling artist, those jobs usually arent seen as impressive as say a CEO. Is this lore👀 could it be a bit of backstory for duck👀

Next we have Red: (Doctor, Barber, boss 2 whole company, horseshoe maker) His jobs are more concentrated on responsibility and expectations. A lot of ppl rely on doctors to help them out, a lot of pressure is laid on their shoulders especially with serious situations. With barbers you want them to give you exactly what u asked for, or at least something acceptable if u cant think of anything. Bosses are bosses. They're literally in charge of a shit ton of things. They keep everything running smoothly cuz 1 wrong move and everything starts going haywire. And horses need shoes to walk I guess

Notice how red is kinda... negligent? I wouldn't say lazy hes not. But remember how he would always want to do something else besides what they were doing? Or be anywhere else besides in the now? He didn't want to do anything at all in the 1st ep deciding to just chill. He didn't want to acknowledge yellows sadness in the Death EP, I guess he didn't want to deal with it? He wanted to meet a real fam, saying that the 3 of them weren't it. The whole road trip breakdown and "Im not going back to that house"?? Very interesting 👀

Yellow: (lumberjack, icecream man, fisherman, assembly worker, therapy patient??)

Yellows jobs r more centered on labor. They're average jobs regular ppl like u and me could get whenever. They usually don't ask for degrees or sumthn just experience perhaps. They might be easy, but there is a form of danger to them Lumberjack? You chop up wood dude, you could easily lose a limb or die. Ice cream man? Well you could always run over someone and uh, stranger danger? Fisherman? Fall out and drown or get lost at sea Assembly line worker? You saw what happened the same as the lumberjack (Trust me I work at a GE and ppl r always getting hurt)I got nothing 4 patient 😔

Besides the assembly one(I'm not counting it it was a lesson), the other jobs could be viewed as experiences.

Lumberjack- helping build the shack with his dad (Roy was there)

Icecream man- its icecream. lot of us go after that car. Especially children.

Fisherman- going fishing for fun, could be a bonding experience idk

Therapy patient- c'mon

There's a lot of shit I didn't cover but it's fine. Everything is so cool and fascinating I'm losing sleep to this whole thing. I'll talk more about it later I'm tired n it's 5am I've got 2 hrs to sleep.

Edit: yo I'm literally at work rn but I realized something. Yellows jobs are repetitive too. A cycle of things that are done a sort of loop. Lumber jacks, assembly line workers, etc etc usually focus on doing one task only, over and over whether it's screwing in bolts, chopping wood, serving food doesn't matter. FIRST UP This one hasn't actually been touched yet! by me at least aside from a doodle and adding my own two cents to it cause I keep forgetting to ask @pillowspace if they're planning anything more with it since the flailfest I unleashed over it XD And idk if tumblr search is being a butt but the only post/thread/thing I can find for it rn is this pic I did? no idea where the reblog chains went?? THOUGH in the last... 2 hours I think? I'd end up combining my thoughts on it with the red string soulmate AU cause who doesn't like to throw in the tension of 'how am I linked to a robot' as a soulmate??? THE MAIN GIST of it though was that YN has pretty bad vision. Enough to occasionally use a cane but not so much they can't get around on their own as long as they know where they're going. They have SOME vision but it's pretty blurry so their job options are also pretty limited (they insist on working to take care of their kid sibling, who's kind of a lovable brat). Sun/Moon have escaped from The Faz, and are currently in 'hiding' as a drifter/hobo sort. They've got a big hoodie and sun hides his rays during the day, but pretty soon after escaping they run into a street kid. Absolutely not standing for this, they end up doing what they can to help provide food/shelter for the kid, and eventually sort of gain their own little pack of them(and their families) and put their skills to use to build nice ish but still crappy shelters and work around here and there to bring back food. At some point they cross paths with YN and help them out with some heavy lifting, but YN doesn't pick up the fact they're an animatronic. They part ways, but run into each other again (pluck the red string a bit here for the pull of fate slamming them together again). Stuff happens, there's an incident with a third party, and Sun offers to walk YN home for safety. They talk as they go and things go well. They part. This goes on for a while and eventually Sun meets the sibling. Sibling is IN THE KNOW right away. BIG SQUINT. They get blackmailed by the child. Meanwhile YN is unaware and starts doing little things like making food for them as a thankyou. Food they cant eat, but the people they're helping can. THIS keeps going, more cute interactions, then one day there's a bigass storm and YN insists Sun stay over cause it's dangerous. He can't justify going out enough so he begrudgingly stays. The lights go out. NOW, MOON is not ok with this. Sort of. He doesn't trust YN at all at first and is only slightly ok when they start giving them food they can bring and also helping them out with more cash than they were making otherwise to get things their folks need. When he shows up though, he does his best(bad job) to try and pass for sun until the storm passes, but it's uh... A Struggle. YN isn't sure what's up but they shrug it off. Later after more basics, the news picks up The Faz is looking for the runaway animatronic. Sun/Moon panic. They're not in the most hidden area, but now there's a problem. MOON is not on board with maybe asking YN for help. They're definitely getting closer, but they're also positive that YN would rat them out. Not justified, but still. He's wary. SO time to test YN. He'll prove to Sun You can't be trusted, and one day after walking them home a little later at night, flips the switch and bam. Moon Time. Classic Moon Time. Well, Almost. Something of a chaotic reveal, YN is scared, but mostly taken aback they never put two and two together. BUT there's that pull. That little red string pulled tight in their soul. Moon won't hurt them. And they couldn't bear ratting them out. There's some back and forth along the way of the boys being in denial about actually having some kind of string of fate, and once the bot reveal happens, YN is like Oh god. Oh god I was falling for them. They aren't even Human. Im an IDIOT. But they also couldn't bear to throw them under the bus and let something bad happen. So as the Faz follows the rumors of the boys helping out this little pocket community, and they need somewhere to actually hide, the offer is made. Things are tense with Moon out and about freely now, now that Sun knows he won't be a problem, but Moon is still waiting for things to go south. The next while is pretty domestic, mostly them hiding out and getting anxious they can't help their kids. YN realizing how stupid they've been about SO MUCH. But also having Sun and Moon around the house as another pair of hands is... very helpful. Extremely so. And even though Moon is standoffish, both do go out of their way to make some things easier. YN can breathe for the first time in a while. they aren't doing things all on their own anymore, as much as they could, it's nice to be able to have someone loosen the line. They fuss over some things, the 'i can do it' vibe running strong, but Sun and Moon try not to step on their toes. Aaaand I tHINK that's about as far as stuff got in the rambling? (But Pillow, idk if you did wanna do stuff with this, but if not I am all kinds of on board to futz with it XD')

hoya caught my attention from the beginning lol because back in 2011(!) i saw a gif or pic of him here on tumblr and thought that he was yunho from dbsk but then could not find it again, and for awhile i could not figure out who it was so this mystery was stuck in my mind until i finally figured out it was him. aside from his looks, i really liked his personality too lol hard work, ambition, earnesty and a biting wit are qualities that i admire in people even rn and hoya had that in spades. his perseverance in his journey to becoming an idol was very inspiring and moving to me (tw: child abuse, the tl;dr of it was that he wanted to pursue dancing and becoming an idol when in high school and ended up dropping out and leaving home after he had a physical altercation w his dad when they had an argument about his career goals. so he was basically homeless for awhile before he got accepted as a trainee. he also was told initially he wouldn't be able to debut due to having a stutter and then he basically trained himself out of it in a very short period of time without any professional help). he was also the ace of the group, even though dancing was (and still is) his passion, he also was a decent singer and rapper and actor (at least in reply 1997 lol, idk about his other roles. also his role in reply 1997 is literally revolutionary lol i won't say why bc spoilers but i recommend watching it if you like kdramas! he plays kang junhee)

in 2010, when they debuted. 2010 was a time where you could easily know and keep track of everyone who was debuting when it was announced (which is wild to think about how different it is now and how the industry has become so saturated), but they also caught attention because they were being mentored by epik high who were and still are a pretty well known k-hiphop trio. i didn't become interested in them until 2011 though, because i didn't like the song they debuted with

vacation review: taiwan

the good parts

i got to see Moomf (micosu oomf)

i got over the "i can't visit a country if i don't know the language" feeling

nature everywhere

night markets were so fun!

at least half of the population wears a mask at all times (even outside of taipei where the air quality is nicer!)

every train station + tourist spot had a stamp area so now i have a lil booklet filled with taiwanese stamps :,)

food! especially boba and soups :DD -so much liquid.

traveling on the back of a scooter is so mind-numbing, i love being a passenger princess

the bad parts

taipei's air pollution is a lil sad but def not the worst

getting over the jetlag and post-vacation sadness T_T

overall summary

i think that taiwan is an excellent place for people of all places to visit! especially if you know english, everyone is really nice to english-speakers and makes an effort to gesture-speak or google translate through every conversation

this may be insensitive, but i think that the "made in taipei" brand (country pride of having many ~cultural influences) really works for tourism. previously, i saw friends and co-workers take their japan trip and do all the kawaii things (sanrio store, snoopy cafe, studio ghibli museum, etc), and got sad. taichung really embraces manga, anime, and other kawaii-adjacent things, and it satisfied my desire to go to japan. i've been having a hard time with co-existing with appreciating the good side of japan (mostly art and media) and learning abt the bad sides (colonial history), so it was nice being able to get a positive experience with low "double-think"

on post-vacation sadness

idk why but this was the first time that i came back from a vacation and i was Sad. like, maybe it's bc i got my period mid-trip and it was some weird post-period hormonal thing?? but i doubt it

looking back, i think that i have never truly been Alone until this trip? when i solo traveled in sp+pt, i was able to talk to the people in the hostel and go out with them. i wasn't able to talk to anybody bc a majority of the tourists spoke either mandarin or japanese, and idk either of those languages. i think that i was alone with my thoughts for too long -> leading to being on my phone too much -> leading to random bursts of crying (?) that lasted through a week after coming back to the US. it was bad enough that i took off all my jewelry and almost cut my hair X|

also any instagram posts that mentions taiwan / east asia kinda ruins my whole day. i wanna go backkkkkk

it's okay to be lost emotionally and physically! being alone is a constant battle of self-love and The Void

i need more international friends bc visiting them in their free time + their country of residence in their work time is so fun

WHAT IS MY CAT

Hey, so I have a Cat Question (or more like a Cat Request, really) and was hoping the science (??) side of tumblr, or cat identifying side of tumblr, or something like that, could help?

So, I got my cat Mikey (Michelangelo Mayhem Apollo *last name*) in January of 2022. The vets estimated she was about 3 months old. She was found by a family friend we met through my grandma, who is a manager at a vet clinic herself. Unfortunately, her areas of expertise are horses and dogs, so she could only help so much. I'm looking to find out what breeds Mikey may have in her.

Physically, Mikey has only gotten stranger (and cuter, ofc) as she's gotten older. She is a looong cat. She's got longer legs than my roommates' male cat at 1 year old. Her tail is much longer than other cats I've been around too, about the length of her torso. Despite that, she's not very big. She's skinny, and pretty small compared to our medium sized male cat back home.

She's also got big ears. I thought she'd grow into them, but they still look kinda big compared to our other cats. They even have the slightest hint of a tuft coming off the ends, but I think that's more likely to be her long-ish fur.

That's another thing- her fur. I say long-ISH because it's not quite domestic-long-hair-long. The vet called her a domestic medium hair, which I didn't know was a thing. She's a calico, with half of her face being black, the other (right) side being orange, and a cute white strip down her nose leading to her white chin and chest. Her fur pattern is pretty regular for a calico, but that's not even the weird part-

Her fur is CRAZY soft. Like, for the longest I thought my fluffy grey and white tabby, Loki, was the softest I'd ever felt, but she takes the cake over any of mine, or my friends, or any alley cats I've had the pleasure of petting. The best I can describe it is like- you know when kittens are real little? Their coats aren't fully grown in and their fur is almost like down on a baby duck or smth- all fuzzy and soft as a cloud and sticking out everywhere. It's like that, even as she's grown a little, all the time. It lays down mostly now, and looks more silky than downy, but the softness is still there. Still, it's not all that thick. My roommates short hair is so much denser, where as Mike's hair seems so light. I've even had other cat owner friends comment on it, wondering why she was so soft ("but silky? Like, not fuzzy. Loki is fuzzy, but she's silky. Its weird")

Jumping back to bone structure and how long she is, though, she's got a long face, too. Not quite like a Siamese or Oriental breed, her nose is much longer than any of my other cats. My dad says her face looks like a lizard or a dragon, while my other cat's face is like a racoon (Idk man he's weird). Either way, she does have a sort of long, more harsh bone leading to her nose that reminds me of those two breeds I mentioned before, and they do also have long limbs and ears, but she just looks too different from them for that to be all she is. She is definitely a mix.

Now, let us discuss Michael's... strange... attitude.

She is a sweetheart. And when I say that, I really mean it. She's very vocal, and greets me every time I open my door. She purrs all the time, even when she's just looking at me. I love her so so so much god.

She is also insane. She yells a LOT. She never (or rather hasn't??) Grown out of that high pitched kitten meow even though she's over a year old. I think she just likes talking. I know Orientals are also known for being super vocal, so maybe that's got something to do with it, but there's more to it. She still acts like a kitten, running around SO much more than my other cats. Her "zoomies" are frequent, and while she isn't attacking my feet under the covers constantly anymore (my first 6 months with her were hell and I have the scars to prove it), she IS still PARKOURING OFF OF WALLS??? AND SHE'S ONLY GETTING BETTER AT IT. I swear she gets both feet on there, catapulting herself off like. On x games mode for real.

But yeah, she still acts like a kitten, mostly. Still looks like one a bit. I have a sneaking suspicion she could be a slow maturing breed, or at least a mix of one with something else, but I'm not sure what breed that would be.

Also, important note: she acts like a dog. She "talks" like one, plays fetch like one (she taught herself), and her romping with other cats really does just seem more like puppy play. She trots around like a little horse too, which isn't that important but it's very cute. And she's just so smart. Like I said, taught herself fetch (which isn't as uncommon as you may think, apparently), and can even PLAY GAMES that she MAKES UP.

Once, when I was at my first university, my dad came up to visit. I wanted to show him she could fetch as she'd just learned recently, and when I threw it she excitedly chased it and... brought it back to my dad instead of me. So, okay, fine, she just doesn't wanna play with me. Be that way. Except, the next time she brought it to me. And then to dad, and then to me again. And it became clear she was doing that on purpose. But soon, she broke the pattern, and picked dad over me again. I assumed we were all done and pretended I wasn't betrayed, but NO. She then proceeded to bring it back twice in a row to ME, and then to him twice, and the me again. Like, I know that's not that impressive. But my other cats don't even know what to do with their toys besides bat them around. It was big for a little kitten to be making up games and shit. Maybe she's just extra creative, idk, but it was wild. She still fetches to this day, until her balls all unraveled and she can get a new one.

Anyway, she's just. Such a weirdo. She's terrified of the car (it makes her carsick, but it didn't when she was younger), and she's scared of outside despite her curiosity(the lady who found her lived pretty remote. I got her because I thought she was affectionate and calm. Turns out she was just sick, and actually is insane! But very affectionate still. My mom has a theory that she fears going outside because she was sick and alone in the cold woods for a while as a baby.)

Alright. I think that's it? Idk I'm long-winded as hell and I'm sorry for that. But I hope someone may know some breeds who are known for her physical traits, and maybe these personality traits as well? We'll see. So anyway, thanks for meeting Mikey! I wanna go on a little ramble about the papz photos and this weird couples holiday.

On Tuesday at 11:25am (British time zone (BST)) Max jet touches down in Sardinia. Hours later Maria posts a pic from the jet window with the tagged location of Sardinia. Then at 5pm (BST) the daily Mail release papz shoots of them at the airport getting off the plane. The photos were taken by ciaopix and Italian papz agency, for someone to know they'd be there at that airport and at what time, someone had to have tipped the papz off. The article was written by Bethan Edwards who is followed by pageboyprojects, she has also written serval recent articles about kelly on the DM.

The second papz pictures come out on the 3rd of august, the Tumblr account reigningmax release them, the same Tumblr account that released the first set of st Bart's photos. (Not gonna get into how they have access to the photos, something to do with they pay a papz agency for access to all their celeb photos, idk.)

This account seems to have 2 sets of photos from different days, the ones on the beach where max is wearing blue shorts and a white Simpsons top, Kelly wearing a Chanel swimsuit, light grey trousers and a Celine basket bag.

Now the interesting part comes with this fourth set of papz pics. Released by Justjared and taken by backgrid, who are known for celebs calling them to tell them where they are. The kardashians and Hailey Bieber all use them. Now, these photos look to have been taken at their private villa, which none of the group had posted the location of it anywhere making it unlikely papz were just waiting outside to take pictures. Meaning someone would have probably tipped them off to where they were staying. They were released yesterday at 7:30 pm (BST) and its obvious they didn't do they're research cause despite naming kelly in the headline, they named P as 'their friends children' instead of Kelly's kid.

Justjared released the pictures of kika and Pierre about a month back on the beach.

Also, they are wearing the same outfits as the first lot of beach photos.

So for a little timeline, I'm guessing the villa and beach ones were took on the Tuesday the 2nd and the boat ones and restaurant on the Wednesday 3rd.

Max's jet is still in Switzerland for maintenance and repairs so I don't think we'll actually know when they're back in Monaco, unless Kelly or even brad posts.

I sometimes visit that page not too often and here are my opinions:

I think that page's owner is a skillful person who's putting so much effort into running it! She's trying her best to find exclusive pics , she's funny, she's trying to analyze things, making polls... One thing's for sure her content is never boring!

About the pics' sources: I think she can get pics from Rajwa's University pages/websites, if she ever knew about one of her friends names /Instagram accounts, it becomes easier for her to find private pics and all... Plus, most of them are originally published by another fan account ( a particular one maybe you know it ) she just publishes them and tag the account's name.

She's not the first one who published the honeymoon pics and there's no exclusivity, there were several articles about it on the net !

Her sisters/ brothers pics were taken from public sources ( an article about her sister being a shoes' designer / an article about her brother being successful in his job or idk what ... )

Plus , am pretty sure , some of her followers may have sent her pics or pieces of information !

Plus she was asked once if she likes Rajwa and the answer was yes !

She's from the US , where there's so much freedom of expression, celebrities are always chased by paps , every detail about their lives may be discussed .... So it's a bit normal for her to post everything, that's how it goes there !

I didn't appreciate it AT ALL, when she kept overanalyzing things and misinterpreting them which led to the "arranged marriage" rumors...

Also, at some point, I unconsciously thought Rajwa was really rude beacuse of what she mentioned about her " old tweets" but when I got the chance to read some of them ( not all tbh ) she was just a funny teenager who was sharing some jokes, complaining about her studies... things all of us may have done at her age !

She somehow painted Rajwa in a negative light ( idk if she'd done that consciously or not )

She could have respected the difference between western and arab mentalities and therefore stopped posting controversial private pics of Rajwa's past life because that's causing SO MUCH harm to her !

17. What’s your favourite art piece you’ve drawn?

I would say my good omens au I simply adorethe little details I put into the drawing. I referenced Mickey's outfit in Ian's delete scene dream. Ian's outfit is 7x10 just in darker colours. I loved being able to create Ian's ombre eyes by colour picking Cameron's hazel ones. Ian's hair shading. The heart wings & being able to creat the wing texture on the angel wing. AND their signature shows with the timberland & bright read air forces!!! I had such a fun time drawing this 🥰 Also it was my 100,000 post lol

18. What is one thing you’d like to tell people about your art that they might not know?

My gallavich art is the first time I've been colouring my drawings. When I drew a lot in high school I would just do the line art & was too hesitant to colour them.

19. What inspires or motivates you to create for fandom?

Definitely you guys! Being able to make you guys smile. As well as your creations & the creating events 💕🖌

I do like to crawl up into a hunched ball on the lounge couch or my bed (which should stop bad for posture lol) Then I do enjoy playing YouTube video essays about internet history/horror games I'd never play or movie reactions.

Also, I am more of an artist who researches & and works with many references. I got a whole lotta unclosed tabs of Ian & Mickey, body poses & clothes that i forgot to close lol.

✎… i like to spend my off days reading or writing. sometimes i’ll jump back into an old show like supernatural or vampire diaries (shhh don’t judge me).

✎… i love to sleep, too! once, i slept like 16hrs straight? it was crazy. when i woke up, my entire body hurt but it was worth it (never felt better honestly LOL).

✎… as strong as i tend to come off, i am deathly afraid of confrontation. however, if i have to defend myself, i will. buttt…pretty girls keep the nails ON, okay (plus, my gf fights for me half the time so shsjsj).

✎… oh! speaking of which, yes. i am a lesbian and YES i want gojo to pound me until i’m babbling nonsense, crying and creaming all over his cock. we do exist, shocker. i just think irl men are gross lol. half are sloppy, hate women and are majorr cheaters. yawn. where’s the women!

✎… i like anything horror and sci-fi. from venom and jake from avatar to ghost face and big papa jasonnn (want them all to absolutely destroy me).

✎… my music taste is just a mix of everything. i’ve noticed as i get older, i tend to listen to more rnb/alt rnb and lofi songs. like pnd, nbdy, yo trane, summer walker, her, sza, bryson t, the wknd, 6lack, nobu woods, rohan, aaryan shah, etc! (notable mentions of tyler the creator, sabrina claudio, dvsn, jhene aiko, lvndvn, asiahn, etc). if it’s not rnb or lofi, i’ve got a lil classical on or even rock. i’m all over the place, but i’m now more of a vibe person heheh

✎… outside hobbies consist of playing tennis, traveling, shopping, swimming, taking scenic pictures (be on my photography bs sometimes—below are some pics i’ve taken btw), dog walking (used to do it all the time ughh can’t wait to get another dog and take them out lots), a little yoga (very relaxing), meditating, etc! (i’m a lil boring but i vibe with a lot of other things, just don’t feel like doing a whole lot all the time shshsj).

✎… currently don’t own any pets (mom has a cat but she’s ofc not mine), but i do want to get a cute little frenchie, a pomeranian, possibly a poodle and def two cats! (thankfully my gf’s cool with lots of pets bc i adore them sooo much).

✎… i also love going to the movies, and eating different foods (one of my favorite foods is japanese/korean food—10/10 chance i’m obsessed but it hasn’t been proven yet so erm…yeh…). love me some italian and mexican food too, oo weeee (can also buss down on some african food, don’t get it twisted!).

✎… on cloudy/rainy days, i like to turn on some good kdramas or japanese dramas. sometimes i’ll find a good bl drama i like, too!

✎… oh, some miscellaneous things about me, i also collect figures, manga, books, etc! i like coffee, tea, rainy/cloudy days, fall & winter, stationary stuff, plushies, makeup (only some since my skin is sensitive to a lot of products hhh), press ons (iykyk), collecting japanese swords, plants, uhhhh and a lot of other stuff i can’t think of right now shjsjs

Nope, I got a very typical German name lmao. Anna is a very popular name :’) I call myself Sammy on here though because a friend of mine gave me that nickname (it’s because of Sam from SPN haha)

hmmm my uni stuff frustrates me a lot at the moment, so that’s where i get emotional

pretty much all the time. runs in the family. you can’t ask anyone anything because the reply will always be something ridiculous lmao.

i guess their voice? i really love voices.

it’s green-grayish. there are a few pics of me on here (sometimes i think about deleting them again idk), so you can have a look at it yourself ahaha.

7. Scary movies or happy endings?

i’m starting to like scary movies again so this is a bit of a difficult choice. tbh though i think we need more happy endings. i like happy endings.

8. Any special talents?

i don’t know if it’s a special talent but my french accent is apparently quite believable, at least to my french teachers. i used to be really good at french but sadly forgot most of it. i love the language though. i used to be able to learn new languages quite fast heh :’) i also do voice acting as a hobby from time to time (just posting stuff on youtube) and sometimes here on tumblr when i post my audio stuff. it’s really fun to do. apparently, my english accent also fools some people into thinking i’m british (at least when i met ben barnes at a convention he thought i was british ahaha). so yeah...i love accents. but i don’t know if any of that counts as a special talent.

9. Where were you born?

Germany. In a small town. It’s quite boring and there is nothing here to see ahaha.

10. What are your hobbies?

i love drawing fanart, reading (although i have abandoned my reading list for a while), voice acting, photography (portrait photography), sometimes playing guitar, playing video games like TLOU, RDR2, Dragon Age, Uncharted...  I also do cosplay from time to time.

11. Have you any pets?

yes, i’ve got a dog. he’s a mix of a great mountain dog and a german shepherd. so he’s big and fluffy. his name is anton :)

12. What sports do you play/have played?

well, as a kid i used to do ballet which i am getting into again. it’s so much harder than i remember.

13. How tall are you?

just 163 cm. i think that’s 5′4 or something. so pretty much an average height haha.

14. Favorite subject in school?

I loved English, Art, and Theatre/Literature. I really miss school in that regard.

15. Dream job?

I used to want to be an actress (like most people lmao) and there were people who told me I had an ‘‘actress’‘ face and a few even told me I could be a model (lmaaooo what) but I don’t have the self confidence for that tbh. Right now I want to work in IT.  I started studying Robotics so yeahhh...it’s difficult af. I also want to learn French and Spanish again which is always useful :)

Hey lovely readers ❤

I currently have a humongous real life workload. Husband has been putting in like 70 hours a week of studying lately and it's looking like that trend in going to hold strong for like... 9 more months. 🙃 On top of that he's started doing two 12's a week doing home hospice care.

Meanwhile I am in the middle of switching jobs and taking care of the toddler and the animals and cooking all the meals and cleaning the house AND this week I finally got hubs to break and admit that I'm gonna have to do the yard work too. (Pray for me. I'm so itchy already.)

All of this is to say that I'm! Still! Writing! It's my happy place and has become a pivotal outlet for me so I'll never completely stop... but I have no earthly idea how often I'll be posting or what it'll even be.

That said, NONE of my fics have been abandoned and none of them are dead. All will continue once we've found our footing and have a good routine that doesn't neglect anyone's needs.

Again, I love you all, I appreciate my readers and I will still be here putzing around in tumblr some if y'all wanna... idk? Be friends?? Interact?? 😗 Feel free to tag me in stuff or send asks 🥰 I'll be around!

UPDATE 2/23/24:

Hello! Long time no read! (Or write)

I'm tossing out a little update here just to let you guys know that I'm still around, I just hadn't really felt compelled to write for the last... year.

At first, I was just waiting. I was on a journey to being officially diagnosed ADHD and starting meds for it. It was a long LONG journey and around the time I stopped writing, I was only a couple weeks away from diagnosis. Trying to write was such a struggle and I felt like being on meds was going to allow me to write more in less time because I wouldn't have to spend 80% of my "writing" time just trying to make myself focus.

I started meds about 8 months ago, and it has been a really awesome 8 months. Really. I have done so many things I hadn't been able to do before, like do my laundry and fold it and put it away. Or like sit in a restaurant and participate in a conversation without wanting to climb under the table and cry. But what I haven't wanted to do for 8 months... was write.

I thought it was because life had gotten too busy or because my son had gotten to an age where he took up more emotional bandwidth, leaving less for me to work with at the end of the day. I really really wanted to believe that it wasn't directly because of the meds.

Then, last month, I started having some health issues that have had us a bit worried about my heart. I wore a halter monitor for a week and will be discussing the results with my doctor soon. In the meantime, the provider for my adhd meds has advised me to stop the stimulants.

I want to be clear that I'm about 98% sure that whatever is happening with my heart is minor enough that we shouldn't be too worried. Stopping the meds was out of caution, and that paired with some other lifestyle changes has me having less symptoms already.

I've brought it up because I wanted y'all to know that I'm a week off of adderall and... I can't stop thinking about my stories. I'm really really feeling the push to write again and I think you'll be hearing from me soon. Soonish. Whether or not I can take my meds again in the future remains to be seen, but if I do get the green light I will be taking them differently than I was before to make room for ALL the things I want in life, not just the "productive" ones.
