My problem with Sarada’s timeskip outfit

I wasn’t going to do this but with the number of times i have seen that outfit on my FY page on other platforms, I kinda wanna gauge my eyes out.

But I’ll refrain from that and explain why I don’t like it. If you like it that’s your thing.

I won’t be too mean so let’s get to the Pros first.

- This is Ikemoto’s own flare and I respect that. Kishimoto did encourage him to do this own thing rather than copy his style, and he’s doing it, so that’s a plus.

- It helps separate Kishi’s and Ike’s work better.

- It’s kinda cool and fashionable once you get use to it. The outfit is also a continuation of her pre timeskip ( which is also problematic for me)

However, for me the Cons outweighs the Pros about 3 times at least

1. It doesn’t suit Sarada as a person.

She’s quite level-headed and practical since the beginning of the series. Sarada also doesn’t express her emotions openly. She’s not much of a fashion gal who needs to dress cute and sexy all the time as well.

She’s also a responsive and active girl.

As we know, outfit is a big part of character design, it shows the readers part of the character’s characteristics, and we can understand which vibes they gonna give off.

Heels and loose jackets don’t help indicate the activeness, maturity and seriousness that Sarada has.

The jacket and the shoes being big and heavy don’t indicate a powerful taijutsu user who has Chidori ( a technique that is speed based) as one of her arsenal.

Various accessories don’t show a girl who is efficient and analytical right on the spot.

So a drippy and ngl sexy outfit doesn’t help showing what kind of person she actually is.

2. The design doesn’t match the world building

Yes this is peace time, yes it is also a fantasy world, but Naruto character designs have always been more functionalities oriented. Tell me you look at a basic jounin outfit and say it doesn’t scream life bulletproof jacket.

However it’s still a fantasy so not everything has to 100% be functionalism because if that’s the case then they’ll all wear bulletproof jackets.

If you see the main designs of each period you can see how it evolved over time: from samurai-ish armor to bulletproof style jacket and lighter version of it in Boruto time.

This problem comes in 2 parts

- It hinders Sarada’s very own power

She has her mother’s strength and her father’s ninjutsu, which requires her being fast and active. A big bomber jacket which is always fallen on one shoulder ( and stay there with all of her movements smh ) doesn’t help her very physical fighting style.

And you better tell me how this kind of sleeves does not hinder her hands’ signs, esp the thumbs.

- The design contradicts a very crucial element of Naruto’s clothing design: Maneuverability

This one is quite a controversial and people have screamed left and right about this so I’ll just argue some stuff they said

1. Heels are not a problem. She can fight in heels since there were other women in Naruto did that.

Yes and no.

Yes theoretically she can. However Sarada as an active teen Chunin won’t do that.

The famous examples of women who fight in heels were Mei, Tsunade and Konan. However Konan often turns herself into paper and she floats/ flies a lot so she didn’t even need her legs as much lol.

Mei and Tsunade are straight up Kages, they don’t have to fight that often. And when they have to fight, it’s either ambush or a sudden wtf thing appears out of nowhere.

If you look at every Chunin girl designs, none of them fight in heels. Especially those taijutsu specials aka Tenten, Hinata and her mom!

2. There are ppl who wear long coats but still can fight so can she. ( aka the Akatsuki and Hinata)

The coat is part of the character designs to help gives off a cool, dangerous and mysterious vibe for the new villain, so that the readers can be hooked and keep reading.

Still the coat is quite easy to move in even when it’s zipped up.

The lower part ( idk what to call it ) can still split apart after that.

Hinata has a big jacket but it’s to show her shyness and introverted nature, and she zips that shit up wtf.

Summary:

I guess my very main problem is that it doesn’t suit Sarada’s very own character, the others are just favour to the main dishes.

i guess she was less clingy and a little more tolerable but still... the problem here was that this girl liked me.....

there were a lot of reasons that make me pissed off remembering to this day but that's sort of unrelated here (for context just know that I disliked her from the near beginning) so onto the main story

So this girl would always ask for hugs from me which I was okay with at first (she did it to everyone ig) but eventually I stopped letting her hug me because I got tired of it and I don't really like hugs to begin with.

but still, she was weird about physical touch...i remember this one time where she kept touching my arm when I was wearing a short sleeve and she was saying stuff like "wow you're so muscular" (IM NOT BTW??? LIKE BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY IM AVERAGE ASF) like okay that was creepy ngl.... i still didn't think anything of it back then though which was stupid of me because I should've connected all the dots

also she kept complimenting me all the time which was mildly uncomfortable but yeah couldn't do anything about that ig

eventually i started hanging out with other people and avoided this girl to the best of my ability until the end of the year because by that time I was thinking "oh whatever I'm going to transfer anyways" so i stopped caring since i thought it would be over soon

yeah so on the last day she was VERY clingy since she knew I would transfer (I did let her though since I was thinking "oh its the last day and I'm never coming back so whatever. cant be that bad. ill forget about it later" and honestly that was a big mistake)

so school hours officially ends and we're at the gate of the school. and this girl physically WONT LET ME LEAVE. she was hugging me and refusing to let go but at that point I was like "oh who cares ig". she probably made me stand there for like 10 minutes istfg 💀but then here comes the terrifying part

i’m only at chapter 7-8 btw and i’ve already spoiled myself half of the plot

i couldn’t choose between f!alear or m!alear bc their designs were.. something. i chose f!alear for my first run since i did the “same ingame gender as irl gender” thing (and it was an entire tradition for me at some point).

didn’t even reach chapter 6 and f!alear’s design was too much for me. i liked seeing her in a ponytail tho but i was not gonne be patient enough to change her class JUST for the ponytail. like girlie ik ur the divine dragon n shit but atleast try to not get your long ass hair pulled midway in battle.

and wtf is your armor??? you have individual boob cups for what?? your entire outfit does not look an ounce comfortable and yet you still slept in that shit. the short ass skirt too?? the stocking things??? there are like 10 design atrocities and i could even name more (and that’s just on a scale of practicality)

the twins are splendid little creatures. clanne got too many mvps and is still on the mvp streak ever since i paired him with celica (i abused warp ragnarok too many times). framme is just there for moral support and actual healing support.

vander’s lvl 1 grandpa ass was actually doing decent damage comapred to lvl 6 alear. you don’t know how many times vander had to come in clutch when alear was 3 hp away from evaporating.

i paired albert w/ sigurd and clanne w/ celica. that shit was game changing. i revoked céline’s emblem privileges for no reason. i just gave celica to clanne since he technically did more damage. he is like low tier but he’s my biggest carry atm. how the turns have tabled.

i changed alcryst’s class to tireur d’élite the second i got his lvl 10 ass. i’m pretty sure he might be my strongest unit atm (lvl wise).

idk who i should pair micaiah with so i just let her stay with yunaka. i never rlly used micaiah’s abilities for healing but i only used her to widen yunaka’s range w/ magic if she needed to chip in some damage to an enemy.

i always get tired at like the 7th turn in every battle and I just abuse celica’s warp ragnarok to beat up that one enemy to win the battle. somehow clanne still deals big damage w/o the engage boosts.

listen i have no clue what they fed the stewards but i am now afraid of them with my every being.

jean and anna r just there. jean doesn’t do shit bc i alr have framme. ik that jean might be decently better than framme but i don’t want his lvl 1 ass dying every single time. anna is a pretty good backup for chain attacks actually. but everytime i see her i get reminded of her commander version from heroes (bc it was my first fe game)

i spent the good majority of my bond fragments on arena emblem bonds w/ my current lineup bc i gotta get those big boi skills n shit. i also watched my units kill each other bc ig that’s a thing now. (i witnessed alcryst beat the shit out of céline)

ya se me quitaron las ganas a trabajar. where i work there’s a cafeteria and i was asked to come in earlier and i was promised food (dinner to be exact) and i said okay why not ? bc u know who says no to free food! also the food they serve is delicious. anyway i go and then around 7 hours later (almost done with my shift tbh) i’m like okay well can i go on break i felt overwhelmed and slightly overstimulated and i was feeling hungry. and i did go on break but after a certain time no one can pass to where the food is served and u need a pass so i ask the assistant manager and he’s like um who said u can go back there? and i was like um this person said it’s okay for me to, and he basically said either have that person walk you or get a pass to go back there. so i said okay and went to the office and asked the lady that i knew had the passed but she said oh u have to ask this other guy, and that guy literally was walking out the door and idk where he went but he disappeared and i could not find him at all. so i sat in the office then after waiting a bit maybe 5 mins the general manager (so the big boss lady) came and was like i’m gonna grab a bite and i wanted to say wait i’m going to but jesus everyone there walks so fast that she was all the way down the hall entering the room with food by the time i got to the hallway. anywho i was abt to go but i was anxious (scared tbh) to go up there and grab with her in there (and to get in trouble!). so i walk down the hallway then turn around bc like i said i was scared and that boss lady looks very strict and mean so i didn’t want to test the waters. by then i went back to the office nd texted the one who told me id be fed and she came and i explained to her and she was like oh ok i’ll just take u then and then as we’re going we see the big boss lady and the one who told me i was gonna be fed asked her to walk me to the room so i wouldn’t get in trouble and boss lady has this face that looks like i’m better than u don’t even bother talking to me. and she goes why? nd i just 🧍🏻‍♀️. bc wtf u mean why? to get food?? and eat??? why else?? and she goes did you ask guy who ran out and disappeared if it’s okay? and one who promised me food said no i didn’t. and big boss lady said u have to ask him and then said it’s not okay for me to grab food from there. and lemme tell u i was already hungry and upset bc i had to wait and frankly annoyed. and i then to be told i can’t grab food (free food!!!) when big boss lady had a large plate full of said food that she had to hold with both hands bc it was so full and when i knew they cooked a bunch back there i was so sad. like i was about to cry in front of them. and one who promised me food turned to me and said oh so no u can’t grab food and idk if i looked sad i was wearing a mask so half my face was covered and she said order food and i’ll venmo u. and ngl we separated after that and i was trying to not cry so i turned to the main hall and hid in where everyone’s stuff is bc it’s dark in there and was trying to not cry loudly bc anyone could come in and see me and also i felt dumb crying over food. but like i was promised and to feel sad about being told no food is fair i think. but yea sometimes u have one specific thing that rlly makes u realize that it truly is management vs other employees and i just started working there and i felt it so much. so now i’m sad and i don’t want to go to work tomorrow and i think i do want to cry about it still. i may cry. it just makes me so sad bc she rlly had the audacity to say no with a heavy ass plate of food and knowing there’s a bunch of food in the room too. and she was just going to go to her little office and dig in. :( i’m so sad now. i’m also very tired . so yea today made me realize i don’t want to work at all. like maybe a little but not so much that i have to do it to live. yea. i have two days off so i’ll just recover those days.

- Sam stripping at the presidential debate so funny 

- actually the whole debate scene is perfect

- the timing of the “Becky, can i get a xylophone flourish” joke was so good 

THE BAD

- Blaine needs to lose the bow tie

his outfits wouldn’t be so bad without it, but it just makes him look so weird. idk why this teenage boy is dressing business casual at school everyday

- the fatphobia in this season is rough

i don’t know if i didn’t notice it before or if it is actually much worse, but it’s really bad

- the off your meds discussion in the vogue staff meeting was really uncomfortable

i don’t like the way they are making a joke out of mental illness and the implications about medication making you less creative are incredibly harmful

- college is nothing like high school when it comes to fashion

those dancer mean girls are so unrealistic. nobody gives a fuck what you wear in college. i wear sweat pants 5 days a week and nobody bats an eye. i could wear an evening gown to class and people wouldn’t give a single fuck.

THE MUSICAL

- Everybody Wants to Rule the World (6/10)

this number is so boring. Darren’s singing is good, but it’s nothing special. i did like the scenes of him in various clubs. that was fun, but the song choice made it feel off. this number left a lot to be desired and i wasn’t a fan. 

- Celebrity Skin (8/10)

i honestly love this number in a weird way. it’s very different from what they normally do on this show and it works. Heather and Chord’s vocals are great. they do a surprisingly good job. the choreography is fun and i always love when they involve the cheerios as backup dancers. their outfits are also very interesting (in a good way)

- The Way You Look Tonight/ You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile (5/10)

this number is not their best work. their voices don’t mesh well and Sara Jessica Parker’s singing is not great. the choreography is fine, but for a makeover scene, i wish there were more outfits. she spends most of the scene in this ugly black feather dress. they could have done so much more with the concept. this was such an easy concept and they failed miserably. the mash up was not my favorite. the songs didn’t work that well together and i wish they had just gone with the Annie song. 

- A Change Would Do You Good (4/10)

this number sucks. the singing is fine. the choreography/blocking is cliché and stupid. Rachel and Brodie have good chemistry but this just doesn’t work even a little bit. i think the song choice is the main problem, but they also just did a bad job all around on this number 

OTHER

- the hippo broach is something special 

- Kurt getting an internship at vogue with that interview is wild

his answers sucked. literally never say the interviewer is your style icon wtf

- AHHHH Finn showing up at the end
