tbh, I hate using social media today. It’s an otherwise perfectly fine Saturday, except it’s *that* day so I gotta go mute words such as “victim” “victims” “towers” and “9/11″ to make it less obviously *that* day. And I live in New York (the state not the city, but we are only about 2 hours drive from NYC). What I dislike the most about today is the nationalism and the racism (xenophobia).

I thought I might write down what I can remember of *that* day so that I may never have to recollect it or think about it again unless I want to. I remember I was in 10th grade. The teachers were muttering something to each other, and then I changed classes to go to science. At science class, the TV was on. Every classroom had a TV that was primarily to watch VHS tapes on (some classes were lucky enough to have a DVD player attached to the TV) but it was playing the news.

I had never seen the news on the TV in school. The science teacher hardly used the television let alone put live TV on it. So I knew something really weird or big must have happened if the TV needs to be on and if the teacher’s staring at it. I don’t remember exactly what time it is, but it was morning.

I don’t remember the exact details on if we were watching the TV before both planes hit or only one plane hit, but I remember the rest of the week was really weird. People were sad-ish but nobody in the school that I knew personally had any direct family that had died. I think one of the teachers -- maybe my English teacher Ledet -- mentioned that their dad had helped build the towers.

I was very bipolar disordered most of my teen years, so during a low, I drew scary black and red drawings to see what it was I was feeling out onto paper so I could see it. My mom later found those drawings and scolded me for drawing frightening drawings when everyone is very sensitive because of the recent events. I also wrote some stories to exploit the recent event that my friends told me were in poor taste so those stories never saw the light of day ever again.

There was two south asian girls in my regents math class with the new young blonde teacher that I did not like. One girl had her hair tied back and another girl had her head in hijab. Like it was always perfectly pinned around her cute still-child-like face. Either both or just the girl in hijab suddenly stopped coming to school. Also some of the white boys and a few of the white girls were getting very aggressively nationalistic and talking about what they saw on the news or heard their adults talking about, which was mostly about how “America’s gonna go to war against terrorism!!!”, which I felt was none of my business but also I knew that was somewhere between xenophobia and racism.

Everybody white was really tense for a couple of weeks minimum over how they gotta get revenge.

I didn’t realize how much white folks were buying into this nonsense about where the terrorists came from and how America is going to go get them until I visited a white friend’s house. Their relative had come over for whatever reason, and when I mentioned there is no proven evidence that those specific terrorists are responsible, he got really mad at me (a fully grown male adult at me -- a 16 year old asian girl) that I didn’t believe the brown terrorists were responsible. I did not believe that information because 1. the information sure appeared quickly! way too conveinently quickly 2. the information is impossible to verify or has questionable sources

Anyway after that I stopped talking to white people about 9/11. I stuck to overhearing them.

And so much for all that talk about how racism isn’t that bad or that it was over that my white friends told me about in junior high and 9th grade when I’d mention various racist experience I would have: there was local news about south-asian taxi drivers in NYC getting beat up. I thought they said NYC is really diverse and less racist, yet white men were beating people up for not being white. It would still be another 5 years until I really fully understood how much racism was not over, but I think that was my first peep into how Japanese Internment was completely possible to happen again (and happened) to whatever group of non-white people that white people didn’t like.

By “NYC is diverse” they mean there was a variety of white and white-passing immigrants are welcomed there, but idk if the rest of us are truly welcome there. Apparently we can get beat up for driving taxis while looking like the wrong type of minority race?

It was after this that there was a lot of boomers on the news complaining that it’s too hard to take their shoes off to board airplanes, and there was baggage fees (there used to not be baggage fees), you had to take tiny bottles onto airplanes, you could no longer get through airport security with a bottle filled with water, the fact that there was airport security period???? And lots of cops everywhere and everybody white became very very very pro-cop and pro-firefighter.

That’s how I remember this day and as a non-white person it’s frustrating to know this all could have been avoided if white people saw more brown people than Aladdin and Prince of Persia. I guess every year when it’s today, I wish there would just be more stuff done to bring awareness to racism and xenophobia so that no more southasians get beat up by paranoid angry violent white people, but all folks ever do is hold candles for firefighters and give podiums to survivor families.

Oh, and for 3 years after *that* day I stole as many yellow ribbon magnets off cars as I could and threw them into the trash. I knew it was a made up war, and I thought people in support of the military are terrible. Another big contributor to why I don’t like military people is because I grew up in Korea.

I’m feeling so cut off from my power rn. I took power and inspiration from the world around me, in the form of trees, moss, flowers, plants, beach, ocean, clay, etc. I feel so cut off from everything around me. The trees’ voices are drowned by the rest of the noise here. I miss the smell of daffodils so I pilfer them from around the neighborhood in the spring. There is a flowering tree in the cemetery that we have at home, and I can reach just far enough through the fence to take a blossom home with me. I take joy in my neighbor’s lavender patch that always has cabbage butterflies and bees around it. I planted sunflowers one year like I did at home, but it gets so hot here and the weeds are invincible. I don’t think I’ve ever had to fight weeds like these, my gardens always just ~grew~ effortlessly. My dreams used to tell me things and help me understand and work through my traumas, but now they are a jumbled mess, if I even remember them. The household spirits were my friends and told me things they thought I needed to know. Once I made a bowl out of clay from the bluffs and put three carefully selected stones in it, one for each of us, in the hope that we would be back together soon and to keep us safe in the meantime. It worked but there was a cost. Magic in NYC has always felt kind of forced, whereas before it was as natural as breathing; I did it without even realizing I was doing it. Once I pulled one of my sacred tree cards for guidance but was convinced that it was the wrong one. It said that I would be surprised by what spring would bring. I thought that nothing could surprise me and shuffled again, but pulled the card a second time. The card was right, my life took a sharp turn from that spring onward. I just feel so stifled, like I have all of these questions and wants and needs and I am on the precipice of something, but I don’t know what it is, and I don’t know how to tap into my powers anymore. I don’t trust myself. I am even paying another witch to find something out for me, partly because I think I am too close to the situation to be impartial when discerning the answer, and partly because I just don’t trust myself anymore (although it is a more advanced spell, something I haven’t tried before that requires more than a yes or no). It’s Imbolc season and soon it will be Beltane and I feel like the time to ask the question is now, but the witch that I asked has some family issues, so she doesn’t have time and when she does have time she might be distracted. The magic that I have been doing is rooted in the physical realm—making my sister a witch’s bell, making bottle charms for myself and my friends, knot magic, carrying the specially charmed crystal that my sister gave me to my exams, etc. I just feel like I need these things to anchor me or I’ll just float away from magic altogether. I have a book about city magic that I should check out, but it’s written by a man and as a general rule I try to get my spiritual guidance from women. Idk, I’m open to advice but I’m guessing it’s just something that I’m going to need to power through on my own, or I’m going to have to stick it out until I can go home and recharge. I haven’t been home in like a year and seven months, first because of school and now because of the virus. It’s the longest I’ve ever gone without going home and while I’m happy that I haven’t had to resort to being there, I’m still thinking that just a couple of days a year visiting there is not going to be enough. There are so many things I wish I had learned from my grandmother, canning, making jelly, making cheese, gardening, weaving, more advanced knitting, all of the things I was too busy being depressed and drinking myself to death to ask her to teach me. That was the cost of being somewhere that I could be magical—my other emotional and physical needs were not being met there. So even though I miss it terribly, it’s unrealistic to think that I could be happy there. I wish I could split my year between old home and new, that’s the only way that I feel that my needs were being met.

Ok, to start off with, what's your name? Robyn. Hmm I don’t tend to see R much when it comes to being the first letter of different things, so it’ll be fun to see where this goes.

A girl's name: Rhiannon. I first encountered this name reading Everyday by David Levithan and I’ll always remember how well-written the character was. The name sounded a little too foreign to me at first, but I ended up loving it.

A boy's name: Rocky, because I have an uncle with that nickname. His first name also starts with an R - Robert, if I remember correctly.

A fruit: Rambutan. Such a strange-looking fruit too.

A vegetable: Radish.

A country: Romania.

A city: Reykjavik in Iceland. Also a place I would love to visit.

A movie title: Room, which was also based on the Emma Donoghue book. It’s one of my favorite films too, along with Requiem for a Dream and Revolutionary Road.

A Broadway musical title: Rent. I had to watch the movie adaptation for a film class. It absolutely sucked.

A reason for being late: Rode the wrong train/bus.

What is the most amount of money you've spent on a meal before? >> I have no idea.

What museums have you visited, if any? >> In NYC: MOMA, Museum of Natural History; in Philadelphia: Franklin Institute; in Chicago: Museum of Science & Industry, Adler Planetarium (it’s also an astronomy museum); in Michigan: Grand Rapids Art Museum, Grand Rapids Public Museum. Those are just the ones I remember, mind you. Might have been to a couple of others and just forgotten about them.

Have you ever had a group project and one of your partners bailed on you? >> Maybe when I was in school, idk.

What's your worst traveling experience? >> Probably every time I had to take a Greyhound from Colorado to NYC (or vice versa).

Sims 1, 2, or 3? Why? >> I’ve never played the first one. I like the vast amount of custom content resources for 2, the innovation of 3, and the continued innovation of 4. Otherwise, they’re mostly the same to me except the graphics just get smoother over the years.

Have you ever dealt with noisy neighbors or roommates? How did that go? >> Yes. Poorly, obviously, for me anyway.

How often do you "half-ass" things (put little effort in)? >> Whenever I don’t have the energy to whole-ass something, but I don’t want to just not do anything at all.

Have you ever had problems falling asleep in class? >> In high school, i was put on multiple psychotropic/anti-depressant drugs, none of which I actually needed, so they all had pretty adverse effects on me. Including making me fall asleep in class almost constantly.

If you have a job, who is your least favorite coworker/manager? >> ---

Favorite episode of Spongebob? >> I don’t like that show.

Do you have any silly/odd emotional connections to anything/anyone? >> I don’t want to call any of my emotional connections silly or odd. Especially since I have a hard enough time making them in the first place -- I want to encourage and support those connections, not disparage them. :/

Are your parents supportive of you? >> I took this survey almost a decade ago, and my answer then was that he was supportive even if he didn’t always approve. I was really on some bullshit then, I guess... because that’s just not true. He only supported what he thought was appropriate for me to be involved in, and when I invariably wanted to do or be other things, he was dismissive and almost derisive. Being supported in my being and endeavours is not a common theme in my life and it starts with that motherfucker.

How often do you take the train to go places? >> I don’t take it much anymore; the last time I took it was to go to Chicago and back, as an experiment (Sparrow wanted to see if it was truly better than driving there and back). When I lived in the City, of course, I took a subway all the time. Really miss that.

Do you play with your phone in awkward situations? >> I guess I would, if I found myself in a situation I thought was awkward. I usually don’t.

yaaaaa’ll ! hi!! i’m violet! I admined the first little version of this group with fie and i’m so excited to join this community of musical theatre nerds, my fave people. i’m 23, I use she/her pronouns, and i live in the est time zone. i’m a (struggling lol) actress and writer. i’m a slut for any and all sondheim, and i first saw company when i was 16 and I didn’t really *get it* but I loved it. since then i’ve seen a lot productions (except the current broadway cast) and i always find something new in it. I was in a really cool gender-swap-y production of the show earlier this year (seriously it was so queer and inclusive and great) and while I didn’t play bobbie we spent a week just talking about the show and the dynamics of all of the characters and I have many ideas of how I would play bobbie....and muse.....SO ANYWAYS - ya’ll ready for a character study?

bobbie’s name is actually elizabeth, after her grandmother (her fathers mother), and her grandmother’s mother. but most folks, her many dear friends included, don’t know that. her family never really called her anything but bobbie, and when asked if bobbie is short for something she’s always taken aback for a moment because she kind of forgets that it is.

she’s a born and bred new yorker and while she fits very easily into the london lifestyle, she’s still grouchy about how the bagels aren’t “right”, and things like that. she’s been living in london for about five years now, but she also travels a fair amount for work and visits nyc often.

she was definitely born into wealth, but bobbie isn’t materialistic, really. she lives a very “comfortable” lifestyle, but doesn’t hoard her wealth and donates a large amount of her income to charity. she isn’t financially dependent on her family, and hasn’t been since she graduated college, which she’s a little proud of. is she a yuppie though? a bit.

she works for a large corporation and kind of dislikes that, but she’s very very good at her job. she’s always had a natural ability to know what attracts people, and that translates perfectly into marketing.

I think bobbie had a normal childhood, not a perfect one, but nothing traumatic I don’t think. I do imagine that her parents were pretty distant from each other and that they got a (somewhat expected) divorce when bobbie was in college. she’s definitely an only child, and her parents are proud of her...but, like everyone else, they don’t understand why she won’t settle down.

the thing about bobbie that kind of defines her whole personality is that she is just super magnetic. she’s personable, witty, and people are just very drawn to her. she doesn’t really understand that, though, if that makes sense? bobbie is definitely confident, but she doesn’t really see herself as much different than anyone else. people just love being around her, and she loves being around people.

bobbie is the biggest extrovert, a complete social butterfly and the life of the party. can make friends with anyone. she...really hates being alone, in truth. and has a penchant for hanging out with couples, she’s basically an eternal third wheel, but she enjoys that.

in denial. just always in denial. large capacity for denial.

important: bobbie is an observer. she’s always watching, listening (not just hearing), judging, and taking stock of people. (“she always looks like she’s keeping score. who’s winning, bobbie?”) that’s why she and joanne are the closest relationship that bobbie has in the show, among both friends and lovers. they’re both watchers, they’re like cats. (”sometimes i catch her looking and looking - i just look right back.”) the emotional climax of the show happens because of joanne.

the wild thing about company is that you’re mostly told and not shown what bobbie’s personality is like, because the scenes are focused on the couples/dates and the songs are introspective thoughts. the couples describe bobbie as being dependable, helpful, loving, and basically the glue that keeps their lives together. the three characters that bobbie has romantic relationships with describe her as withholding, cold, and undependable. that’s because that’s the two sides of the bobbie coin, if you will.

bobbie is an incredible friend. the four couples in the show are definitely her best friends in the world, and she would go anything for any of them. but they are definitely the only people the bobbie is dependable with, aside from her family. she also loves them dearly but sometimes she is this meme after hanging out with them or their kids lol. she says yes to them way too much and sometimes she is....incredibly burnt out and overwhelmed.

she’s an amazing friend, but one things change from platonic to romantic, she’s usually pretty quick to flee. she doesn’t know why. she tells herself that they just weren’t the one, that it just wasn’t meant to be because if it was she wouldn’t run so hot and cold. she’s very affectionate and charming with her lovers, she almost always seems to share a connection with them, and then she disappears. no one ever really knows why. she feels bad ghosting people, but she always says it’s for everyone’s best interest.

in all honesty bobbie could have settled down, she did find someone who could have been her “one” in pj/kathy. they both wanted to marry each other, but neither made the move, and bobbie feels deep regret for that. so the problem is her, not anyone else. she just can’t commit.

bobbie probably drinks too much, but she says it’s okay because she’s a fun drunk and she rarely gets sloppy. but she drinks too much.

bobbie definitely has bad impulse control, and often doesn’t really think things through, especially when she’s hit with a big emotional shift. i.e. when she proposes to amy/jamie in the show.

she’s lowkey kind of a square.....like she definitely smokes weed (canon!) and drinks but she also refuses to smoke a cigarette when joanne pressures her to (which, i get is an emotional thing and not really about the cigarette but stick with me here) and she’s very put off by peter and susan’s polyamy so AND she’s super taken aback by how *radical* and *wild* marta/theo is (which...isn’t much these days, it’s all just kind of aged material lol)......bobbie is not *as* cool as she thinks.

a line I always keep in mind about bobbie, which paul says - “a person like bobbie doesn’t have the good things, and she doesn’t have the bad things. but she doesn’t have the good things.”

notes on company (mostly for anyone who might consider playing a character from the show)

i’m playing bobbie at 29 about to turn 30, rather than 34 about to be 35. honestly i just had trouble finding the perfect fc, and so i aged her down. (why doesn’t aubrey plaza have more resources? ugh!)

she’ll turn 30 eventually, but whooo i just wanna have fun being dumb bobbie before she becomes slightly more evolved bobbie.

my bobbie is VERY bisexual. I would really enjoy a mix of the original genders of bobbie’s lovers and the revival’s. so april/andy, pj/kathy, and marta/theo are all welcome! as is jamie/amy. (though honestly I would prefer an amy) and i would like to keep the romantic/sexual undertones with joanne, if possible, unlike the revival. (& her lil flirtation with jenny because idk if they change that to david in the revival or not?) my version of bobbie would basically sing about all of her pals in “someone is waiting”, she sees things that she loves about all of them and would want in a partner.

I seem to have ruffled Ajw’s feather. I left her a message- always anon or she won’t read them. I know this because used my username for years and they are ignored. So here we are with a LONG response to her answer.

It started here: The CCers tried to change the history of Darren and Mia *you can read their entire exchange here*

But here is the part I was responding to:

Agreed light bearding started April 2011, heavy bearding when they moved her to LA in Fall 2012. In between I do think they considered other, more famous options but went with her as she is the only person that they could “prove” pre-C. And the CC relationship was their major obstacle and the thing they knew they had to hide to make D straight.

This being said, the article is WRONG if they are following the PR narrative that says they started to date in June 2010 and that is what the “7 ½ crazy and adventurous years came from.” A narrative that was spun in 2015.

M herself would love to claim college as she is desperate to say Not Alone is about her.

So yes, it is likely they “met” in college, but I doubt it was more than a night out at a bar at most.

So I asked her:

Come on, you know there are several public pics of M and D together before his "Blaine' audition hair cut. IDK if you have been in a serious relationship but how it works is you start out seeing each there occasionally and then as you get closer and fall more in love you start doing more and more together until you get married. Being in a long distance relationship means that can all take a little longer. Going out more publicly AFTER she moved & over time is how that works.

My responses to her comments are in Italics:

I really do make an effort to ignore you and your nonsense, but I just could not resist. I know on your blog you have questioned my credentials, well I must say, I question yours and I highly recommend you enroll in a grammar school level reading comprehension program. I have two master’s degrees and undergrad from Michigan, but thanks for the advice. First, who is disagreeing that they knew each other pre-g/lee? That is a fact, a fact i state often and frequently and no one that I have encountered here who has any knowledge refutes this fact. Yet you keep repeating this like we are unaware, both in this ask, and in your absolutely comical analysis of the handshake completely based on the the false premise that we think this is when M&D met. Please stop putting words in our mouths and READ critically.

Well let me leave just a couple of receipts as to why I keep saying that:

This exchange on 11/20 regarding the Trevor Live 2012 video that they have claimed over and over shows Michael introducing Mia and Darren and Darren shakes her hand. I proved that is not what happened here .

ajw: Hi anon, this was December, confirmation day in Toronto was the following June. But no question, they had moved her to LA and the choice to make her full-time beard and to completely oppress CC had been made. This was right after the BU episode of G/lee, a plot conceived to keep D&C apart. Not a pleasant time in their lives and when everything really changed.

4. Hi anon. That is likely the correct answer. Her friend dated Jo/e W when they were in college and I believe she maybe visited U of M one weekend.

That being said, to be clear, if they met then, and it is not 100% substantiated, they went to different schools, located in different parts of the country and she graduated before them. They didn’t start dating in college and I would guess they did not keep in touch. The real connection was later when Ch/uck and C/harlene were friendly with her in NYC after they all graduated. And that is how she was chosen to be the beard, the worst decision D ever made.

Second, I am not disputing that from 2010-2011 it was sort of low key, though by April 2011 she was already being speculated about in JJ with pap pics, so maybe we can say it quickly went from low to mid-key.

Yes, this is how relationships work. You meet, you may not start dating right away. Eventually you start talking...maybe a date or two- they were long distance so likely much more talking. Fly to see one another...a few dates... more talking... more flying until she moved to LA. Nothing inconsistent about the story. They started out long distance so there is no doubt the “start date” is debatable to them.

However, she was moved to LA in the fall of 2012 and from that moment forward there was nothing low or mid key about this. That was SIX, count them (unless you need basic math classes as well) SIX years ago. Therefore, a publication CANNOT state that they have been low key dating since 2010. That is a boldface lie. They could say perhaps “they started out under the radar and have since decided to share” but NOT that it has been low key since 2010.

No, no it isn’t a bold face lie. It is literally how REAL LIFE relationships work..you know the unscripted ones. It’s their relationship and THEY get to say when they actually started dating. You could probably win an argument that the fandom didn't KNOW they were dating until 2012, ya know, if you REALLY just need to win.

Since 2012 she has accompanied him to approximately 75% of all of his events, her picture is taken constantly, her image is videoed, her SM is full of him, and recently his SM contains her face. Their “friends” and family talk about them on their public SM constantly, She has been interviewed about him (remember when she claimed she never wanted to be associated with someone famous), and she is mentioned in D’s press constantly and has been for YEARS.

I will say this slowly. They. Are. Engaged. It is normal for her to be with him at events. As many events as they want to attend together. People like love; people like beautiful couples. Photographers and fans are going to take pictures of a beautiful couple in love. Interviewers are going to talk about the engagement and the wedding. It’s we do in America. The problem is you don’t like it. But I’m 100% sure that Darren didn’t ask you for permission. He doesn’t care what you think..

Her friends and family post about them constantly? Everyone’s family talks about family constantly. I’m sure YOUR family talk about you. It’s literally what social media is for- bragging about your kids and perfect life, posting naked belly shots in the gym, and connecting with family and friends. I know you talk about your family on Tumblr and you post your cats and your wine on Tumblr. How does Mia or Darren or their family have less right than you do? I don’t follow the logic and as you say you're a lawyer, I really don’t follow you. Everyone gets to pick what they want to post on their own social media...that is the rule.

As for that article...Mia claimed she never wanted-PAST TENSE- to be with someone famous; it wasn’t something she imagined for herself. That isn’t the same as saying she doesn’t currently want to be with Darren who become famous after they fell in love. I will avoid ridiculing you about your lack of basic English grammar skills.

Yes, she is mentioned in Darren’s press...so what? They are a couple. This is isn’t hard.

So I am unclear why you are asking me about how a relationship works? I certainly understand how it works.

Relationships dear michigan are based on love, friendship, and respect, Three fundamental things missing from the mi/arren relationshit.

Couples KNOW when they met and how long ago it was. But not mi/arren. Was it college? Don Hi/ll’s? In NYC pre-g/lee? They don’t know, but they will be sure to twist the answer each and every time asked. (D actually looked shocked when she said college). But you know what D knows in precise detail? His mandate, when he went to see S/utton F/oster, a story he has recounted approximately 5 times, with g/olden g/lobe winning, NY T/imes best selling author C/hris C/olfer (his constant tribute not mine).

I already outlined how long distance relationships work and there is a vague, nebulous start date. But I also suspect that Darren, who does value his privacy, doesn’t really care to share those kind of details with us. So he gives vague, unimportant responses to that question. There is also the fact that journalists and bloggers do research and don’t always ask every question they cover in an interview. Sometimes they use their research to fill in facts- this can lead to perpetuating something that isn’t 100% accurate but Darren doesn’t care to call them out or correct it because it isn't our business.

As for your mandate. Haven’t you figured out that it is the only Chris Glee story Darren is allowed to share without upsetting Chris? He keeps repeating it because it’s out there already. “Chris hates when you talk about him” so he keeps repeating the same story to feed the Glee nostalgia without getting him upset. Again, this isn’t hard.

Couples know how long they have been dating. Not m/iarren and you would THINK after the encage announcement they would stick to the very public timeline created, yet they don’t. She actually wants you to think they started dating in college, years before 2010.

Nobody cares when they started dating. I couldn't tell you when my husband and I started dating- there are times I can’t remember how many years we have been married or what year we got married- It isn’t important to all people. It means NOTHING in the big scope of the day-to-day struggles of being married and raising kids, and struggling with chronic disabling illnesses that we deal with in our kids. Love isn’t a Disney Prince meets Princess sweeps her offer feet and they live Happily Ever After cuz now she’s a Princess. It isn’t Instagram perfection of big dates, huge romantic gestures and huge diamonds. It’s living with someone and negotiating who does what chores; who cooks and who cleans up dinner; who is taking the kid to PT or the doctor appt that is 3 hours away this week; it’s washing his dirty underwear and getting a puke bucket when the flu hits. It’s missing him because he is gone half the month flying FedEx packages to Dubai, India and China while I am single parenting a lot. In most people’s lives, the date they started dating isn’t that important after you get through a few. Those moments become less important.

When one proposes to their partner after “7 ½ crazy and adventurous years” I would hope they would know the person well enough to buy them a ring that they would love and cherish. And in turn I would hope the recipient loved the ring, even if not their dream, because it is a symbol of love and devotion. Not mi/arren, D apparently got in wrong FOUR times as she is now wearing ring number FIVE, an indisputable fact. And no, multimillionaire D did not buy FOUR place holders.

You have very childlike ideas of what relationships and engagements are like. I haven’t worn a wedding ring in years, nobody cares. Mia wore one engagement ring from January to January- she added other rings to the stack at times which seems to have confused you that it was different rings. I saw your picture proof and those are all the same diamond ring. She just got a beautiful ring on GG night. My GUESS would be that they designed the new ring together. Couples do that. Some couples get engaged long before there is a ring. None of this is “abnormal”...there is no “normal”. But even if she did have 5 rings...who cares? It means NOTHING to us. They get to do what they want and THAT is an indisputable fact.

Generally partners don’t run in front of the other constantly when they think they aren’t being filmed. D runs ahead of her constantly as documented many, many times. And notice how he ALWAYS tries to correct it when he sees the camera. They also aren’t afraid to touch their partner (D constantly avoids it, remember Op/eration S/mile when he was caught on film hiding his hand behind his bag to avoid touching her?).

You pick and choose pictures and videos to prove this trope. You and I both know there are many pictures of them waking together. Again, I ask if you have ever been in a long term relationship because after 8 years, nobody is worried about who is walking in front of who. On the red carpet, it is pretty common for the celeb to walk in front of the spouse because everyone wants to see the celeb and not the spouse. Darren is at work on the red carpet. But if you want to hang your hat on THIS being the BIG proof you have that it is all a lie then go for it. If you want to ignore all of the times Darren has said “I love her” and instead fixate on a photo of him standing in front of her....you are only deluding yourself.

A partner would NEVER try to steal the spotlight from the SO yet M pulls focus constantly despite the fact that it is D who put in the time and effort to receive the accolades he is currently getting.

I honestly can’t with this one. She only “steals the limelight” with you guys. Darren’s real fans just enjoy pics of them together as the gift that they are as we enjoy everything Darren does. You guys, on the other hand, stalk the internet looking for pictures of her just so you can rage over them; you guys talk about how she steals the spotlight. Nobody, NOBODY could steal the limelight from Darren Criss.

A partner would respect that their partner has repeatedly stated that he craves privacy. Neither M nor any of their “friends” give two shits about his wishes as he is all over the internet as posted by this group.

This cracks me up because it assumes that Darren has no idea his pictures are being posted...the ones he posed for and the ones that he watched them post seconds later. Nobody is posting photos that Darren doesn’t want posted. Mia shut down her public social except for very rare red carpet or special events. When you rage about untrue things you sound exactly like Trump “ there is an EMERGENCY AT THE BORDER...drugs...rapists...coyotes.. DEMS WANT OPEN BORDERS”. “DARREN BEGS FOR PRIVACY AND NOBODY RESPECTS THAT”. Both of those statements are complete bullshit.

A caring fiancee would concede an award show to allow for him to take his mom (d’s express wishes as he voiced on ET. And no if this is corrected it does not count as he called her out in a very public way).

OMG with this one. An anon pointed out that the one person who DID take his mom to awards shows after age 30 was Kevin Spacey. Darren took who Darren wanted to take to his first GG as a nominee. Most adults have closer relationships with their lover than their mommy. His mom came to the parties. I don’t see her upset...she looked pretty damn happy hanging with her hubby.

He played outside restaurants at Michigan, he played inside Sava (MI) and Maggianos (CA), he does concerts and he lives for a small venue event. Marie’s Crisis and other piano bars rock his world so he opened one of his own close to home. Darren LOVES TO CONNECT TO OTHER HUMAN BEINGS THROUGH MUSIC. This is something he has said many times, in many interviews. It is sad that you cannot see that-you cannot hear him- and you continue to disparage his joy. When you finally realize that you are wrong about all of this, the one thing that I hope makes you feel the worst is that you have degraded, disparaged, and denigrated two things he loves- Mia and TSG.

I could go on and on and on about the issues with this horror show, but i will spare my readers. But I will repeat something i have said often, the ONLY thing to me that would be sadder than reality, would be if this is real. Because they are the OPPOSITE of relationship goals and incredibly toxic as painfully evident in what they have allowed us to see.

I can go on and on as well. It is real and it doesn’t involve you. Your petty, ill-informed, silly conspiracy theorist investigations have created a reality that lives on in your heads. Darren is clearly happy and everyone around him loves him AND Mia. You spend a lot of time and energy wiping away ALL of Darren’s truths in order to keep your fantasy alive. The only toxic relationship Darren has is with the CC fandom. I don’t know his personal life but what I see from my position in MI is a man and woman who are living their best life and a fandom that is trying so hard to hang on to a fantasy that has FAR outlived its useful life. Chris and Darren have no public relationship and if I had to guess after reading STFF, I would say no relationship at all. Chris has asked you to stop shipping them more than once. Instead of listening you continue to fabricate fictitious stories to explain away every single word out Darren’s mouth and many out of Chris’s. You aren’t “finding the truth” you are CREATING YOUR TRUTH to keep a fantasy alive. Reading Instagram ‘likes’ and looking at song lyrics WHILE IGNORING THE VERY WORDS OUT OF DARREN’S OWN MOUTH is really messed up and very disrespectful. If you really believe that Darren’s public life is a lie than walk away. You have the right to your opinion but you don’t have the right to bully Darren or his family and friends on behalf of that opinion. You don’t have the right to an opinion on the value of his love for Mia. If you don’t like it then you have the right to walk away...not to spread your hate on social media until it gets back to Darren & Mia, and their family and friends. The CC Bullshit that comes directly from YOUR MOUTH was left on Chuck’s baby post for fuck’s sake. That is ALL ON YOU. You claim you don’t post on their social but you have never told your followers to stop and they use your exact words. Chuck and that newborn baby deserved a hell of a lot better than the hate that a CC Family member left. You OWN that.

long post but i’m not upset

i might have gotten myself into a sticky situation with matt which no one is surprised about

i feel fine! we had a good time. it was awkward for a little in the beginning, but we have good conversations and it was fun. i’m pretty affectionate and it didn’t take long to go from two bros hanging out in a big truck to leaning on his shoulder or W/E. and eventually, we hooked up but we didn’t bang, and i was like, well if someone sticks their fingers in my PUSSAY we can probably hold hands and spoon and shit. so we did and that was COOL AND FINE but i think he might be a little sad about the fact that that won’t happen again any time soon

nothing big but he did say a bunch of stuff about how he’s going to miss hanging out with me and how i’m cute and nice but i live so dang far away and how he started feeling sad as soon as i said bye and all that. and he already said something about coming to see me again. it was roundabout, but he said “if i come visit again, the boys are gonna ask so many questions”

i dunno! i guess i forget that not everyone can cleanly divorce physical intimacy from... i guess non-platonic intent? but i think we were both pretty clear bc we had several conversations that were like “fuck dating rn”. like i said, i feel fine! i just hope this isn’t something that’ll bug him, but i don’t totally think it will given how he is.

every time this happens i think about jackson runkle declaring after we hung out for 5 hours that he had basically fallen for me in a way that he found intolerable and we had a conversation that kind of ended with “you do this to a lot of white boys don’t you” which, as a statement, i absolutely hate. but i guess it’s (it being, hanging out with a dude, and then they kind of like me somehow, and it’s a problem??? and i feel like it’s my fault) not a thing that doesn’t happen

i’m definitely overthinking it, because IF this is actually a problem (which it probably isn’t) it’s not really my problem. nothing was established or promised and it’s not a bad thing that i’m likable

i think i’m actually thinking about this because of a thing matt said that kind of went like “i think if you were introduced to any friend group everyone would be attracted to you. like, when you first visited and i was with jackie i definitely thought some stuff i wasn’t supposed to be thinking” which is just like... oh jeez. like i don’t know!

i’m not totally sure why it makes me so uncomfortable. i think it makes me feel more like a dumb cartoon character or plot device than a real human being. i definitely have A Personality, which gets more Intensely That when i’m hanging out with someone i’m not familiar with, or fuckin drunk at 5pm for a wedding, which i don’t think is dishonest but! being told any new group of people would be attracted to me makes me feel like a weird siren character rather than just a person and i don’t like that. i know that’s not what he meant but! it bugs me. i worry people misrepresent me in their head. actually, i’m worried i’m duping people who have a high opinion of me somehow, when i was in high school i was pretty obsessed with being “different” or “unique”. yeah, i was a “random” girl for while. now i’m just like... please see me for who i am... i like who i am but i also think i’m a dumb garbage person

i think i’m trying to be a good person and usually succeeding at least in being kind, but i also arbitrarily assume i’m truly garbage

i think my personality is likable, and i think i’m genuine in the way i act, but i’m also worried i’m duping people into liking me

i have a lot of arbitrary, baseless anxieties revolving around who i am and how i act in this world, but on most days i know that it’s just like, the cognitive dissonance of liking yourself but also being in a world where it’s considered unattractive and self centered, and the fact that it’s long ingrained in me that i am Not Good Enough (thanks chinese parents! you were doing your best i know) so thinking i am good enough (my personality is liked by many and serves me well regarding making new friends, networking, and dealing with a variety of social situations) feels foreign and wrong. and then someone says something as baseline as “people who you’ve just met probably think you’re cute and desirable” and the anxieties come out and make me write a long blog post about it i guess.

oh and ian is talking to me now. he’s struck up SEVERAL conversations in the last few days and has responded to my snapchats. i’m very confused! it’s sweet though. i really hope he wants to be friends. even if it’s totally reactionary to maybe feeling weird that i fucked his friend (i didn’t but i assume that’s what everyone thinks) i hope there’s genuine interest in maintaining a relationship. i’ve always liked ian. when i was really drunk i told him he should come visit me. this was in september when i was visiting.

here’s an exchange from the last few days:

“If we ever get the the chance, could we go out for a drink? I don’t think we ever did that together”

“The chance is pretty good that can happen since I have vague plans to visit Erica. And the offer for you to visit me in California (which I think I gave kinda drunk) still stands if you ever want to”

“Either way, I’d be a lot of fun I think!“

i hope he ends up taking me up on that offer. california is a lot of fun and i like it when people visit me. if/when i visit pdx i wanna hang out with my sweet loving friend erica and not juggle my feelings against how ian and matt might feel.

we all know i’d still fuck ian but in the nice clean way i fuck my friends sometimes where it’s really not a big deal and fun for the whole family. but then again, idk if he can? no one knows how ian feels, let alone ian.

this is a really long post given how not upset i am. i’m just writing out my feelings. i’m not very good at just thinking thoughts if they’re any kind of complicated. typing, writing, or talking makes it a lot easier for me. i had a good trip with matt! i am happy ian is talking to me! i have a fun trip to NYC coming up! i’m worried something is going to go wrong.

Huh. What to say about this year.

I want to say that the universe really decided to pile it on this year. But that’s total bullshit. People act shitty, feelings change, and mistakes are made. Those things happen to everyone.

Honestly I changed a lot this year. I mean, I change every day, but I had some drastic changes within the last twelve months specifically. And sure, change can be super great. But sometimes it’s not very super at all.

Which brings me to a little piece of 24-year-old wisdom--is happy always a good thing and is sad always a bad thing? I’ve discovered so much of myself and others in the middle of the sad parts. Sadness provokes truth and purpose and understanding.

Not that I turned into a token sad girl you guys...please don’t be alarmed. I’m still as cute, vivacious, and charming as ever. But for the first time in my life I wasn’t just happy, unaffected, and agreeable all the time. This year I learned that being outwardly emotional isn’t inherently bad. I let myself be more opinionated, confrontational, and expressive. I consciously resolved to be more of an asshole and less of a pushover.

A few notable things happened this year. I’m writing these as I think of them, and mixing in the bad with the hella tight. And honestly most of these things are so much of both that it’s actually really comical.

I had the opportunity to travel to Sweden, Greece, Hungary, and Germany. Holy shit. Was that seriously this year? Most famously on this trip I rode the train in Berlin without a ticket and was in trouble with the German government for a few months (maybe still am, who knows). All I know is I stopped receiving angry letters in German once I wired them a lot of money. One thing I know about myself is that I don’t particularly like to travel alone--I like to have someone with me to share experiences with. This trip wasn’t all that bad though, and I ended up meeting so many beautiful people from all over the world.

I worked a lot. But I also accomplished a lot.

I met a lot of wonderful people and gained an entirely new perspective on just about everything thanks to one very interesting new friendship.

I developed eye shimmers (NOT FLOATERS, eye shimmers, as I told the eye doctor emphatically for three straight months). No one can really explain why, but the vision in my right eye starts to shimmer when I’m really tired or stressed. Lol.

My parked car got hit by another car...and then got hit again by a snowplow. I also got the worst speeding ticket of my life.

This one is a little embarrassing...I was too confident on an icy night and completely biffed it down my aunt’s front stairs and hurt my back. And it REALLY hurt and it REALLY sucked. And I now I realize how lucky I am that I don’t suffer from physical pain, like, ever. I was straight up depressed after day one of back pain.

I became a crier. I cried more this year than I have in the past ten years combined--seriously, I NEVER cried before now. I feel like maybe I knocked something loose in my brain when I fell down the stairs. Idk, I’m just saying the timeline adds up. In fact, if you see me with sunglasses on, there’s a 40% chance that I’m currently crying, or have cried recently and am covering it up. (P.S. I walked outside after writing this and cried because all that nature smelled so good. Wtf.)

I spent time in beautiful Colorado--I rode electric scooters all over Denver, white water tube’d in Golden, hiked the Rockys, and saw a moose family.

For the first time of any real significance, I disappointed my friends and family...like multiple times. And vice versa.

I went to Vancouver for the forth year in a row this spring, and found it just as beautiful. I also got to visit Hawaii again on this trip and I fell in love. I went to the beach every day and got a magnificent sunburn. I got hand tats. I forgot about all of the crazy things going on at home if only for a week. Most memorably, I tried surfing for the first time and actually caught a wave. (No, I didn’t stand up on the board. It’s hard, okay??) I don’t remember the last time I was so exhilarated and proud of myself.

I went from spending all of my time with another person to moving into a new apartment and living on my own for the first time ever. No one likes my new apartment, but it’s coming together nicely thank you very much. And I still don’t like being alone, but that part is also coming along.

I spent a week in Spain and learned new things about passports, drinking wine, and architecture. We saw some surreal art, aided and abetted in sneaking several Iowa State study abroad students onto the metro in Barcelona, and did not get pick pocketed! There’s also nothing wrong with spending a little extra time in the greatest city in the world (that’s NYC, for you dummies out there).

Don’t worry everyone, I continue to become cockier with every passing year. For real, though, I’ve gained more confidence in my personality and in making choices--specifically in the last few months. And sort of related--I freaking finally lost the Freshman 30 that I gained in college.

I learned that there’s value in slowing down. Spending more time at home. Not overbooking myself. Not taking off from a stop light at 67 mph. Even if I haven’t actually put this into practice yet...I’m working on it.

I know what some of you are thinking, and yes, I intentionally left out the juiciest, most personal bits. Lucky for you, I also started writing down all my best stories this year, so you can read all about it in my memoirs someday.

that time Caitriona Balfe is the nicest human ever

I need to preface this by saying: I think ECCC was a bit under-prepared and overwhelmed by how many Outlander fans were there today. The lines were INSANE. I waited, each time I met Sam and Cait, no less than 45 minutes and over an hour for the autographing. and by the time we had made it to the hotel after the panel, to attempt the first autograph session, it was already filled up. at like 12:15. the panel ended at noon so like....HARDCORE. I am not so hardcore. I left and came back hahahaha

THIS GOT REALLY LONG IM SORRY

so the first one I did was the joint photo op. the waiting on line part is dull you don’t care about that. except there was a little boy on a different line while I was waiting who just like lay down on the floor and I felt for him bc same. anyway. it happened SO fast that I like don’t remember much. I remember walking up to them like holding my sleeves, which I do when I’m nervous, and they said hi and I said, “I’m SO nervous!” and Cait goes “awww, don’t be nervous!” and then I was in between them and both their hands were on me and they’re SO TALL and we’re taking a fucking picture???? and then I think Cait said thank you and I turned and said thank you and Sam didn’t say anything lol and I walked out and could NOT stop shaking. and then I went and got my pic (and also collapsed and gave @givemethewest a hug and told her I needed to sit down I was A MESS) and literally didn’t look at the picture. like all the way down the escalators, all the way to meet my friend, did not look. and then I literally bowling balled myself into my friend/my jacket & bag HEAD FIRST and laid flat on my stomach on the floor like screaming into my coat for 10 minutes and some poor girl who had become friends with my friend was laughing at me and also judging me hardcore and I was just like HI IM JULIA NICE TO MEET YOU from the floor.

and then I had to get off the floor to get back on line to get a solo pic w Cait, which I had bought literally 2 hours prior. and we get on the line and we’re the very last ones so I just lie back down on the ground. and also take a pic of my pic (which I’d finally looked at) and tweet about it obviously but also lie on the ground because SOMETIMES YOU JUST HAVE TO LIE ON THE GROUND OK. anyway, more waiting on line blah blah blah. get to the front of Cait’s line this time and she is SUCH A GODDESS I CAN’T EVEN TELL YOU. she was SO kind and idk if she recognized me or not but she like hit her thighs when she saw me and bent down a bit and was like “hi!! nice to meet you!!!” and I was just like hi! again. and then ONCE AGAIN Cait’s arm was around me and I was trying not to combust and I also had my arm around her and her shirt was really soft and she’s TEENY and on my way out I fucking threw up metaphorically on her and said something along the lines of, “thank you for everything you do I love you so much” and I think she gave me a sweet look and said thanks???? I think I also blacked out so I don’t really know what the fuck happened. but my picture with her is WONKY (my eyes wtf is wrong with my eyes) so I’m just gonna cut Sam out of the first one and say that’s my pic w Cait

and THEN I think I waited over an hour for the autograph thing bc we were in the spillover line and by this point I was feeling like an 85 year old woman. like everything in my body hurt, I hadn’t really eaten all day and I was exhausted so waiting was the last thing I wanted to do. but WORTH IT. I have to say. Once we got like...in the room where the autographs were I could not stop watching Cait. That gif of that guy with hearts popping out of his eyes was me the entire time. there’s just something so mesmerizing about her???? like I get why Sam stares at her all the time. I get it. as we were waiting though some lady asked if anyone was there for Sam only and NOBODY stepped forward. and I cackled. Everyone wanted to meet Caitrionaaaaa!

so anyway I get to the front and I’m one of the only ones who is doing an autograph from both of them so even though Cait is technically first the lady sends me to Sam, whose line is empty lol so I go over and I’m fucking NERVOUS and I give his like handler dude the Emmy magazine and Sam’s too busy talking about opening a bottle of whisky and subtly but not so subtly looking over at Cait to notice me for a solid like 30 seconds but then he does and he signs my magazine and I give him this card I got for both of them and jesus christ the details are really embarrassing I will never tell but it’s REALLY shippery and it’s from me, Jess and Lauren, which I tell him (no idea if he connected who we were) and he goes to open it and I’m just like NO DON’T and he makes this face at me 😏 and tries to open it again and I’m just like nooo don’t!!! so he smiles and puts it down next to him and he thanks me for it and I tell him thank you for coming etc etc he looked so tired poor buddy. and then I had to get back in line for Cait.

so I get up to Cait and she’s like “hi!! how are you?” and I told her I’d flown all the way from New York City to see her and she goes “my old stomping ground! where are you from?” and I said Manhattan and she was like oh I miss it so much! and I told her she should come back to visit and she leaned back and was like “I want to!” AND THEN ADN THEN. BACKSTORY: every fucking q&a she’s had on twitter I’ve asked her the same question about seeing theater in NYC and she’s never answered so in my brief moment of clarity I asked her if she sees theater when she’s there and she was like YES I love to! and I asked her what the last thing she saw was and she took a minute and made some really cute thinking facial expressions hahahaha and was like I don’t remember but I think it was something at the Public. and then I said thank you (again) and left and realized as I was leaving that I’d completely forgotten to give her the gift & my letter so I had to hand it to some lady working there hahahah OOPS. hopefully she got it.

BUT I HAD AN ACTUAL CONVERSATION WITH CAITRIONA BALFE CAN YOU BELIEVE IT. SHE IS AN ANGEL ON EARTH. and also I hope they fucking enjoyed that card. yikes.

and then I went out to meet my friend and we were sitting against a wall just like gathering ourselves and out walks Sam, I guess done w the autographing and he goes over to a group of peakers to take a group pic and right as it gets really quiet I go (not very loudly but....also too loud), “I don’t wanna be in a pic with him!!!” so that’s awkward hope he didn’t hear that. and then he goes into the bathroom and I shit you not 2 security guards stand in front of the bathroom. and then!!!! like a minute later Cait walks out, looking like a goddamn goddess, and goes to the bathroom and she comes out, Sam’s still in the bathroom, and she walks back into the panel room for something and then back out. Sam’s still in the gd bathroom and Cait’s like making her way towards the elevator taking selfies w people and then Sam walks out finally (he’d changed out of his kilt hence the security) and they both (with all their entourage) made their way towards the elevators. so naturally I planned on just walking by all casual but by the time I got over there they were gone behind some black curtains :(

[[ Random Survey Questions // By @x-hallie-x ]] 1. When you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep, what kinds of things are you likely to do? How often do you find you have trouble sleeping? >> I read when that happens. I don’t have trouble sleeping all that often, but sometimes I’ll have trouble getting to sleep (especially if sleep paralysis is getting in the way) or staying asleep. They’re not really chronic issues, though, and are pretty recent developments.

2. What was the last lengthy packet you filled out? >> I can’t remember the last time I had to fill out something like this. Maybe when I first visited Heartside Clinic?

3. Are you a patient person? What is one way you have a lot of patience? What about not very much patience at all? >> I have a pretty high capacity for patience, just in general. Specific situations that might cause me to be impatient are things like waiting to go somewhere cool or dealing with a situation that I have no investment in but am forced to deal with anyway for whatever reason.

4. At what time during the day do you tend to feel your best? What about the worst? >> I don’t know. I feel pretty much the same no matter the time of day, unless I’m sleepy.

5. What was the last thing you did that you wish you could take back or do differently? >> I guess I could wish I hadn’t had Sparrow take me to Urgent Care when the situation magically cleared itself up on the way there, but the walk back home wasn’t too bad and no lasting harm was done, so... like, whatever.

6. Are there any blogs that you check first thing in the morning or on a regular basis? In general, what kinds of blogs do you like to follow? >> I get notifications for updates from some blogs, so I’ll just check those blogs when I do phone-related activities in the morning, and sometimes throughout the day depending on what else I’m doing. I follow way too many blogs to have a type, lol.

7. How frequently do you stay overnight somewhere that isn’t your own home? What things do you miss about home when you’re away? Do you tend to get homesick easily? >> I stay overnight at other places so infrequently that I actually have a difficult time falling asleep anywhere that isn’t home or the Wayland house (for the first night, particularly; after that, it evens out). The Wayland house gets off easy I guess because I stayed there for the first month when I moved out here. I usually just miss the freedom of being in my own apartment and knowing where everything is and having all my stuff within reach. But I wouldn’t say I get homesick per se, like I love to be other places; I sometimes get the “I want to go home” feeling when I’m overloaded, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I actually want to go home, ya dig.

8. Do you tend to eat more in the beginning of the day or at night? Do you have a tendency to snack when you’re bored? If so, what kinds of snacks do you normally go for? >> I’m not sure. It’s summer right now, so I just eat less in general, which makes my eating habits more nebulous and harder to track. I snack sometimes when I need something else to do with my hands/face, but sometimes I just chew gum for that.

9. If you have any dietary restrictions, do you ever miss foods you can’t have? If not, what’s something you haven’t had for a long time that you wish you could eat again? >> I would love to eat Louisiana food again. One day.

10. What was the best thing to happen to you today? What about the worst? >> I won a $15 Wendy’s gift card at Resident Appreciation Day (Sparrow won $25 to Papa John’s, which we’re going to use later today). The worst thing is, I guess, that I didn’t win the $25 AMC Theaters card, because I really wanted that. :p

11. Is there something you still can’t do even though you’re an adult or might be expected to do this thing? >> I don’t do well on phone calls and I avoid them as much as possible. I am also pretty unemployable.

12. When was the last time you changed your opinion on a relatively big or serious issue? Overall, do you feel your opinions on things have changed a lot since you were younger or do you still feel the same about many things? What is one opinion you never see yourself changing? >> I don’t remember the last time that happened. But yeah, my opinions on things have definitely changed -- or, expanded might be a better word -- since I was younger... as an especially mercurial individual, I’d be kind of weirded out if they hadn’t. I don’t think I’ll ever change my opinion on religion, though -- I will always be fascinated by it and supportive of it in general, and I will also remain unsupportive of specific religious practices that divide and belittle people.

13. If you have a mental illness, in what ways has it made your life different from those around you? What challenges have you faced, what have you overcome, and what have you had to miss out on? >> I think of myself as neurodivergent, despite the fact that I haven’t been tested for that -- I could be wrong, of course, but then that’d just make all these experiences I’ve had in life even weirder than they already are. Neurodivergence is actually the Occam’s Razor conclusion here. So that would mean my brain developed differently than is common, and my perceptions and philosophies and understanding of the world around me are equally divergent from what is common. I process things differently, I experience emotions differently, I socialise differently, and so on. It’s a pretty pervasive thing. My social development was pretty stunted until adulthood (when I was able to do something about it). I had to learn the intricacies of communication, the differences in the way I respond to things and the ways other people do, how to navigate the world without sticking out like a sore thumb, how to recognise danger, how to avoid social traps, all that shit -- and I guess I picked both a great and terrible place to learn all that stuff in, in NYC, but at least I managed. I’ve missed out on childhood because I feel like I really wasn’t fully present for it, trapped in my own head as I was; I’ve missed out on half of high school because I was usually hospitalised (I’d developed a moderate-to-severe cutting habit due to trauma); I fell off the socially-accepted life path somewhere in high school and never managed to get back on (once the train leaves the station, catching up only gets more and more difficult as time goes on). None of this really bothers me by now, because if there’s one thing a born wanderer will always do, it’s carve a place for itself no matter where it is. I have blazed my own trail. It is mine alone, and I am glad for it -- because no other path would have suited me.

14. Again, if you have MH issues, do you ever wonder what your life would’ve been like without them? If you could snap your fingers and make your illness disappear, would you? Or would something stop you from doing this, and if so, what? >> I mean, I guess I’ve wondered that for funsies, but I can’t imagine being anyone but myself, so. (And the thing about neurodivergence is that it’s literally built into the fabric of who a person is -- if my brain had developed “normally”, I wouldn’t be the same person at all. And I can’t imagine myself as anyone else, so the imagining falls apart.) I do not want to snap my fingers and make a completely different person appear in my place. I do love who I am, it’s just difficult being who I am sometimes. I can handle a little difficulty. I’ve done so this far, after all.

15. Are you good at getting along with other people even if they have vastly different views from yours? When was the last time you had to interact with someone like this, and how did it go? >> Yeah, I can usually get along with someone if I really feel like it, no matter what they think -- with some limits, obviously (there’s no way I’m ever going to get along with a neo-Nazi, let’s be serious). But here’s the thing: most of the time, I don’t care enough to try in the first place, lmao. So it doesn’t matter.

16. What is one way you show another person you care about them? What are things that make you feel cared about in return? >> If I give someone my time and attention, I usually care about them in some fashion. I really don’t just go giving that out, and I don’t feel bad about withholding it if I don’t care about someone enough. Like, what are they going to do, be mean to me? Big deal, I’d have to care for that to matter. So if I care, I at least want to pay attention to them and listen to what they have to say and try to understand where they’re coming from even if I don’t fully grok it. It’s the effort, I guess -- I put effort in. As a pretty apathetic person, that means a lot coming from me, even if other people see it as unremarkable. I feel cared about when people pay attention to me and remember things I’ve said and respect my boundaries and appreciate my creations and encourage me and stuff.

17. When was the last time you congratulated someone? Were you happy for them, indifferent, jealous? >> I don’t remember. I was probably indifferent emotion-wise, but like... idk, if I say “congratulations” then I at least want you to feel good about whatever it is you did or got. I don’t have to feel anything for that to be true.

18. Are you typically happy for other peoples’ successes? Was there ever a time you just couldn’t bring yourself to be, no matter what? >> I’m typically emotionally indifferent to other people’s successes, but I still want them to succeed. Like, I wouldn’t discourage them or downplay their success, I’m just not going to jump around the room or whatever-the-fuck. It’s okay, I don’t expect anyone to do it to me, either (unless they want to, obviously). And yeah, there are plenty of times when envy or dislike or whatever prevented me from even going through the motions of happiness on their behalf. It be’s like that sometimes.

19. What was the last milestone you reached in your life (graduating, buying a car, starting a family, etc)? What milestone are you going for next, if any? >> The last milestone of that nature I reached was co-signing the lease for this apartment, I guess? I don’t know. What even is a milestone. I want my next milestone to be moving out of this place, tbh. But I think the next one is probably marriage, unless we really do move in March when our lease is up again.

20. Do you feel as though you’ve lived your life according to what society typically expects, or is your life more unconventional? >> No, my life has been quite unconventional. This is the most conventional it’s been since the beginning, and that’s why I’m often so weird about it. Sometimes, to a wild thing, safety can feel like a cage. It’s a brain glitch, don’t mind it.

21. Do you enjoy getting comments or messages? How likely are you to leave comments or messages for other people? >> Sure, I like to socialise. I don’t know how likely I am to do it -- just whenever the desire strikes, I guess. I don’t think too hard about it.

22. How would you describe your handwriting? Is it what comes naturally, or have you ever purposely worked to improve or stylize your handwriting in a particular way? Do you know anyone who has particularly interesting or unusual handwriting? >> My handwriting used to be damn good, especially seeing as I was raised by someone with impeccable handwriting and calligraphy skills, but it’s degraded as I started to buy my own computers and shit. Now I’m almost exclusively a typer, and I haven’t written anything by hand that wasn’t an address on an envelope or a short form for some government thing in a long time. But my handwriting is still better than Sparrow’s, lmao, so she always has me write things out. I could always get better at it again, because it’s not difficult; I just have to care enough. I’m still considering it.

When was the last time someone screamed at you (or in your presence)? >> I don’t scream, really. I don’t even like yelling, I just... I have one of those voices, lmao -- it’s quiet usually, but when I get passionate or upset about something, it really projects. I’d probably be great on a stage. The last time I recall being screamed at was over the holidays, at the Wayland house. Not an event I really feel like rehashing, either.

24. Do you ever ignore other people? How do you tend to react to being ignored by someone? >> Sure, I've done that. Just not frequently. I usually ignore people when they’re either trying to piss me off (like a troll on tumblr) or trying to manipulate me into responding by being antagonistic. I can’t remember the last time I was legitimately ignored by someone, so I don’t know how I’d react. I’d probably just go on about my business, like... what’s the point of doing anything else, really? Maybe whine to Can Calah about it, or something.

25. When was the last time you felt like your feelings werent being respected? Do you think you do a good job of respecting the feelings of others? >> The last time I felt like that was when I was trying to set boundaries for myself in my last relationship, and it felt like I shouldn’t even want what I wanted (listen, don’t ask, by now I don’t even remember why it felt that way), but like, that’s ancient history now. (I mean, it is to me, anyway. The only reason I thought about it now is because it’s the answer to the question, but other than now I haven’t thought about it any time recently.) I don’t know if I do a good job of respecting the feelings of others; I just do my best and hope it’s good enough. Isn’t that all any of us do?

26. If you have a pet, what is one personality quirk that they have? If you don’t have pets, was there ever a time when you had one or wanted one? >> I’ve had pets briefly, but really, I don’t... even want one at this point. They’re more trouble than I have patience for.

27. What would you say is your STRONGEST emotion? Maybe not the most frequent, but the most intense? And what emotion do you feel most weakly, even if you might feel it more often? >> I don’t know what my strongest or weakest emotion is. I’m really not emotionally connected, in case that isn’t already clear, lmao.

28. When was the last time you were up to see the sunrise? Do you tend to pay attention to things like that (sunrises, sunsets, rainstorms, etc) or do you not really care about that sort of thing? >> I was awake at the time of sunrise this morning, but I wasn’t watching it or anything. I do pay attention to the weather, but I won’t necessarily drop what I’m already doing to pay attention to it. Unless it’s a thunderstorm. I love those.

29. What was the last thing you bought for someone else? What about the last thing someone bought for you? And the last thing you bought yourself? >> The last thing I bought for someone else was... I think a book for Rez’s birthday? That was months ago, but I don’t think I’ve bought anything else? Unless it was something for Sparrow, but like, we live in the same household, we just kinda spend our money that way by default. The last thing someone bought for me (that wasn’t Sparrow) was the mindfulness book that Hallie bought me last month. The last thing I bought myself was a Gatorade (lmao not a hot one! a blue FROSTI BOI) and a pack of bubble gum.

I should be doing an assignment that’s due tomorrow but ya know due tomorrow means do tomorrow. Lol I know I should be ashamed to be a procrastinator but university has ruined me anyway.
