The story is: They were fighting an enemy who was a puppeteer, who turned everybody, except Usagi [Sailor Moon] into a puppet.

Usagi gets back to the command center and Luna goes “So where’s the others?” And Usagi, whose holding Puppet! Makoto [Sailor Jupiter] by the back of her sailor uniform, is like “Umm. Funny story..” and Puppet! Makoto just start fcking yelling, just. Pure rage.

Yea uh. It’s literally an AU where everybody’s a puppet and fight bad guys, and get into puppet shenanigans lmao

Emil pulled back suddenly, they looked at Flynn, they had a promise to make them, one that they meant. Even if this promise might result in them being sent back home, Emil wanted to thank Flynn for everything. Perhaps one day, they’d- no, Emil would not be a burden to Flynn.

Emil: I am going to recover quickly and when I do, I promise I will do everything in my power to bring back your twin!

And they took Flynn’s hand, gently giving it a peck.

Flynn: But... isn't it dangerous for you to go back.. wouldn't they hunt you?

There was an instant worry in him, one where Emil went to the other side, and then he lost them both. Not just his twin, but Emil as well. As much as he wanted Fan back, it felt like a very risky thing for him to do.

Emil nodded at Flynn’s question and sighed. Again they brushed Flynn’s cheek gently. For the first time in years, they wanted to gently kiss the young man’s cheek, reassure them everything would be alright, but they couldn’t. All they could do for them was this promise, this promise that somehow they’d bring their family back.

Emil: It’s alright. I want to do this. I want you to have your family back, I promise you I will get your family back.

✨Anne Blythe’s (Anne Shirley-Blythe’s namesake granddaughter) father is not Jem. It’s Shirley. It’s totally Shirley, you guys. It’s gotta be.✨

And like, Ieading right off by saying of course there’s no definitive answer to be had here, since Maud obviously isn’t available to confirm or refute any hypothesises, but I do big persist in suggesting that a very rational case can be presented for Shirley... one that at least outweighs what I now see as the generally baseless widely accepted assumption that Anne is Jem’s daughter. Keep in mind, I’m in no way trying to dog on this. The assumption is ready and easy to make, and I’d accepted fully this theory too, until about a week agooo.

ABOUT A WEEK AGO, I was poring over various Wikipedia entries for the Anne book series, and inevitably also ended up looking through the edit history of those pages. While sorting through the edit history (super extensive and interesting, by the way), the username ‘blefebvre’ popped into the archive, contributing a ton of information to the Anne pages overall, around 2008 and 2009 particularly. And literally, who else could this user be besides THE Benjamin Lefebvre? Brilliant Maud scholar and essayist, inexhaustible editor and publisher of ‘the Blythes are Quoted’? Welllll, one of these edits, a written family tree of Anne and Gilbert’s grandchildren, mentioned Anne Blythe... and pointedly noted that she was either the daughter of Jem or Shirley.

Reading that? Already a huge jump-scare surprise to me. This immediately challenged what I thought I knew about the third generation of Blythes. I sat straight up in bed, brain doing a nosedive, like wait wait wait wait wait… hold on, what? We don’t know for sure? We don’t know for sure?

Guys. We don’t know for sure.

Whichhhhh sent me on an immediate hunt to gather up what we do know for sure. The facts we do have. And it wasn’t a huge task, either… there’s really not a lot to collect.

But here it is:

In ‘the Blythes are Quoted’, Anne Blythe is mentioned in only one story, titled “The Road to Yesterday” (not to be confused with the TBAQ abridged predecessor book of the same title 😅).

All we really have of her is her name, and a couple of superficial second-hand anecdotes from a guy named Jerry (who is impersonating a fellow named Dick, but more on this a little later).

Her paternity is unconfirmed, but because her surname is Blythe (not Ford or Meredith), we can logically eliminate the possibility of her belonging to Nan, Di, or Rilla. Walter was, of course, lost in France. This leaves Jem and Shirley.

Tiny details about Anne.

As a matter of housekeeping, let me try to get the jump on any potential counter-arguments, and clear the air.

The only reason I’ve seen Jem credited with Anne is because…

1. Jem was married.

That’s the entire basis.

And I’ll grant you that. This is more than we got for Shirley. But let’s remember that at the end of ‘Rilla of Ingleside’, we only had a canon engagement between Jem and Faith... it takes getting around to ‘the Blythes are Quoted’ to absolutely conclude that their marriage went through. With the added extra bonus of finding out that they have children.

But even allowing that, ‘the Blythes are Quoted’ as an epilogue isn’t all inclusive. It isn’t a complete picture. It’s half a picture at the very best. Maud, pressured greatly, basically dumped all her disorganised, non-chronological and unedited Anne relevant WIPS + short stories + poems on her publisher's desk two days before she died. This is not a book that Maud put together, as a tailpiece collection. It was an assortment of partial works and in-character conversations that she’d tinkered with over decades. Works she never intended to see being published. They were vague ideas she was forming, little seeds. (It took a lot of effort from Benjamin Lefebvre to put TBAQ together in a readable way that made sense.)

Maud was over Anne. Over Anne by twenty years, at this point. So much so that noticeable character details and world building started slipping in Ingleside and Rilla… for obvious instance, in the lack of continuity around Shirley’s birth year, and the way readers saw almost no closure/representation for Shirley and Di, with varying degrees of near erasure in the original books.

But this doesn’t mean that Maud didn’t have plans for these two characters... their incomplete or unsatisfying stories certainly weren’t nefariously intended to be that way (there’s no secret meaning to the exclusion); Montgomery was just depleted and had been feeling ruinously dispassionate about the Blythes stories since ‘Anne of the Island’.

In ‘Reading Rilla’ we see in Maud’s many pages of left-out notes, that an ultimately scrapped journal entry from Rilla indicates that Diana Blythe wrote to their mother of her engagement to a foreign overseas officer. It’s unclear if this officer is the same ‘Austin boy’ that an older Glen woman in ‘the Blythes are Quoted’ privately wonders about (if Di 'really is engaged to him or not'), but this contradictory bit is probably just erroneous gossip from an unreliable narrator.

Anyway. All of this to say... that just because we don’t have a canon marriage for Shirley, it doesn’t disqualify him from having had a wife and kids in Maud’s post-war Four Winds. TBAQ stories were, to reiterate, half-pictures. Pictures that did/could drop a plot bomb in a single sentence. Looping back to Di, canonly we don’t have a marriage for her either... and yet, we do have two engagements that half-register. One engagement was definitive, reported by Di herself. The other a passing curiosity from someone not close enough to the Blythe family to know.

So... clearly, Maud had active intention, a plan, for Di and her own little happy epilogue. The same can be believed for Shirley. (I’m dying for the day the ‘Rainbow Valley’ and ‘Ingleside’ manuscripts get published, I’m convinced there’s more Shirley be found in the notes.) Now, let’s dig in to Anne Blythe herself.

‘The Road to Yesterday’ is a short story about a woman named Susette (a spinster at 28), who is on the brink of an engagement to a wealthy man named Harvey Brooks. She expects the next day to be proposed to. On a whim and feeling nostalgic, she drives to Glen St. Mary, where she lived in her girlhood, for the evening. While there, she runs into a fellow, whom she believes to be Dick, her childhood bully who she hated profoundly. Except now, they’re grown and capable acting chummy over their shared memories. The weather takes a bad turn, and they take shelter and a meal together. Susette spends most of the time, all their ‘do you remembers’, being irritated by Dick’s constant name-dropping of the Blythes. He claims to have been kind of secret friends with Anne Blythe, which is contrary to Susette’s memory that Anne hated Dick. (In the end, it turns out that Susette was right… this isn’t Dick she’s talking to. It’s Jerry Thornton, Dick’s cousin.)

For the official record every Blythe mentioned in ‘the Road to Yesterday’ is as follows: Doctor Blythe, Mrs. Doctor Blythe, Rilla Ford, Jem Blythe [Jr.], Di Meredith [Jerry and Nan’s], and Anne Blythe.

It’s mostly a bunch of school yard talk, but the big takeaway for this purpose is that the Blythe/Meredith cousins all hung out together as school children.

Here’s some direct examples:

The cheap boiled-down version of this exchange, for those who haven’t ‘the Road to Yesterday’ is basically: Susette is having strange feelings during this interaction with ‘Dick’, she’s attracted to him, declaring to herself that she won’t fall in love with him, and is clearly irritated with the near constant Anne Blythe (especially)/Blythe references. Though she herself was very fond of Jem Blythe Jr. herself, during their childhood, ‘Dick’ mentioning Anne Blythe so fondly is increasingly Not Cute to Susette. Meanwhile, ‘Dick’ is enjoying this kind of teasing, and is lowkey successful at getting a rise out of Susette, not matter how determined she is to look unaffected.

But here’s the kicker... when ‘Dick’ finally leaves off mentioning Anne Blythe, guess what topic he moves on to? 🥁

The Royal Canadian Air Force.

And just who do we all know that was in the Royal Canadian Air Force?

Shirley.

Only Shirley.

First, it tracks that ‘Dick,’ soon enlisting (we’re on the brink of WWII timeline-wise), and thinking himself funny, would choose to move on from Anne Blythe to instead a subtler rib… what he, as a once good pal of Anne’s, would know was Anne’s dad’s war faction. It’s also in the realm of possibilities that thinking on Anne so much drew up this correlation. I also ALSO think it’s worth mentioning that the only other time that the Canadian Air Force is mentioned in TBAQ is a very passing drop for Rilla, thinking of her son Gilbert Ford enlisting with the CAF. That’s it. Just those two times.

Additionally important to note is the overall subtext tone in TBAQ, which is Maud’s very greatest collection of double-vision, double-speak and intertextual reference works. There’s a beautiful scholarly essay on this, in relation to TBAQ particularly HERE.

This doesn’t only apply to cultural references in TBAQ. It also adds layers to Maud’s own existing Anne series. It really could be considered a companion piece, with X-Ray vision, e.g. how we got a ton of ‘missing’ insight into Anne and her children’s lives and minds, during the Rainbow Valley era, in Part 1 of TBAQ.

Part 2 of TBAQ (where we find ‘the Road to Yesterday’) asks us to apply what we already know to the new text we’re given.

So, understanding this … if we’re going off what we already know from ‘Rilla of Ingleside’…

What’s the reason we have the Canadian Air Force mentioned in the same story that we learn of the existence of Anne Blythe? The connection?

It’s Shirley. 🥹

A weaker argument that I’ll only mention in mild passing, because it is very weak in terms of convincing evidence, is that the text unambiguously tells is that Anne Blythe has taught ‘Dick’ from Susan’s famous recipes. Susan is another Shirley tie. It’s there to be stated. BUT. I do admit that I think Susan would’ve taught every willing Blythe grandchild with the same zeal, maybe some partiality given to the Little Brown Boy’s kid(s).

BUT, for me?

I’m properly convinced here.

Shirley was a dad, ya’ll.

I don't think it's a dumb question at all! Realistically, why would you feel grateful that someone slightly helped in cleaning up the mess THEY made, right?

I think the context you might be missing are 2 things:

Toritsuka was a cog in Kusuke's plan, yes, but ultimately Kusuke was going to enact this ultimate revenge one way or another. Toritsuka just happened to be a convenient and entertaining tool that cropped up. Otherwise Kusuke could've used Saiki's other friends that he already knows about (Nendo and Kaido) or even family as bait. So even if Toritsuka had refused joining in on Kusuke's plot, it ultimately would not have mattered. But also Toritsuka is really truly very stupid, can you blame him too much for getting fooled by a super genius?

Toritsuka is the first and only person who has ever stood up to Kusuke to protect Kusuo. As far as we see, Kurumi and Kuniharu just let them battle it out, and no one outside the family would've known about the tension between them. And yet Toritsuka, Toritsuka whose jealously got him in this mess in the first place, Toritsuka risks his own life fearlessly in an attempt to help Kusuo. Considering that Kusuo is always jumping through hoops to help everyone around him and yet no one ever thinks to help him, or even wonder if he could need or want any help, this is a big fucking deal!!

So yeah, those are the two key elements for me that Iead to Saiki being grateful to Toritsuka despite the betrayal lol. Hopefully that makes it more understandable for you, and thanks for the ask!

Batfam Monster AU Info

This post contains what I have so for in terms of each character, and is open to change.

I believe my questions are open, so if anyone has any, ask away, and I'll try to figure it out!

Bruce Wayne

In this AU, Bruce's backstory is pretty much the same as canon. I tried to think of what to make him, and had no idea. I didn't want him to be a vampire, because there are already so many Vampire!Batman Au's, which I love, but I wanted to do something different.

So Bruce Wayne is a human. His parents were still shot in crime alley, and he became batman same as canon. And as happens often, gets mistaken for a monster/crypid. This then Ieads to multiple children with various afflictions and curses tracking him down, and then him adopting and/or becoming their cool uncle.

he's tired, and wonders what choices lead him to this moment.

Barbara Gordon

Babs ended up getting bit as a teen -I haven't decided the hows and whys yet- and is transformed into a vampire.

she struggles with the changes and the new urges that come with the transformation, and upon remembering the rumors about the infamous batman, she decides to borrow her fathers batsignal and get some much needed advice.

Dick Grayson

Everyone in Gotham knows the tale of the fall of the flying graysons.

After Tony Zuccos sabotage of the trapeze, all three of the flying graysons fell to their deaths. Of course, as far as the public knows, two parents left their son behind.

A psychic of halys circus takes pity on the fallen boy, and uses all she has to give Richard a second chance at life. But she couldn't heal everything. All of his bones were crushed in the fall, and he was left with some less then ideal side affects.

she just hopes that playboy bruce wayne has the available facilities to give the boy the care he needs.

Jason Todd

Jason's Todd used to be a normal boy, or as normal as you can be when you are adopted by a billionare who moonlights as batman, who makes you his sidekick.

With big shoes to fill, he can be quite impulsive, and has made a couple on mistakes, the biggest of which gets him killed. You's all know what happens next, he comes back, in a body which sometimes falls apart of him, and a major grudge with a bat, and a score to settle with a clown.

Tim Drake

Timothy Drake, heir to the drake fortune, and werewolf.

After his parents tick off the wrong person, who happens to be a werecreature. They end up being monster chow and there only son is transformed. With no parents and am uncontrollable curse, he lingers on Gotham rooftops watching his heros, Batman and the boy wonder.

After Robins death, realising the batman has no intensions of finding another robin, decides he knows how to fix both of their problems.

Cassandra Cain

when David Cain wanted to create the ultimate human weapon, inspired by mythology, he experimented with gene modification. He created a girl who shared the abilities of the nalusa falaya, a being known to melt into the shadows attacking hunters, giving them power to do evil to others.

After her first kill, she was found by Barbara Gordon after he reported being saved from a gunshot by a shadow.

Stephanie Brown

After discovering her fathers wizard heritage, and his plans for Gotham, begins experimenting in witchcraft, attempting to master the craft, so she can spoil -

"Get it, spoiler? Cuz I'm spoiling his plans?"

- eventually, word reached batman and his crew, everyone knows nothing escapes them, and she is busted by the boy wonder himself.

Damian al ghul-Wayne

After Bruce Waynes relationship with Talia al ghuIs crashed and burned upon discovering her father is that Al Ghul, the demonhead and carnivorous werewolf, he left unknowing his ex was expecting.

Only discovering this ten years later, after Talia delivers said baby to Wayne manor.

At least he has experience with werecreature children?

Duke Thomas

After the Thomas family was the victim of a joker attack, ending in both parents being in a permanently jokerised state, and their only son is killed, his spirit staying in Gotham.

He is trying to learn to live in this new state, with the assistance of the Wayne Clan, he just might make it.

i love that u got ieads for plenty of sports AU. i can't write sport AU because I don't know much about any sport in particular but I ate them up *foaming at the mouth*

i think this is the curse of being a sports fan who is also in other fandoms, you just wanna drop all your little characters into a team and throw in all the camaraderie and emotions that come with team sport. i'm also very aware that this answer could veer rather cringely into archie andrews "highs and lows of high school football" territory, so i am doing my utmost best not to go there, but yeah, sport fucks you up man. it eats you up and spits you out and you still keep going back. i love a good sports au, even if it's a sport i don't follow or know much about, and i would kill for more of them in the hbo war fandom! i think i remember reading a hockey au once but it only had one or two chapters at the time? this could be my brain lying to me, but i distinctly remember it having baberoe and one of them was a hockey player and the other a figure skater? am i imagining things? i swear this was a fic i read once? idk but yes more sports aus please!

i mostly enjoy writing football, tennis and formula one aus bc those are the three sports i follow really closely and feel comfortable writing the practical ins and outs for, but i'm also an archer myself and have been thinking about writing an au about competitive archery since i've actually been there myself and can write from experience. so one day, one day i'll throw out an archery au that will very likely only appeal to @ep6bastogne and i lmao

(discussion of self harm) Also, as someone with OCD, self harm does not actually get rid of intrusive or obsessive thoughts. And if you keep doing it every time you get one of those thoughts, eventually you get used to it and you end up having to escalate. I went from lightly snapping a rubber band on my wrist to actively punching myself and it still isn't enough to interrupt those thoughts.

Pain and shock are not sustainable coping mechanisms for those sorts of things. They can work in a pinch, when you're really spiraling and you need it to stop long enough to calm down just a bit, but depending on them to help with all your bad thoughts is seriously dangerous and can Iead you to some bad places.

U are absolutely right. The downside of brains being trainable is u can train them in the wrong way.

Humans are not made to respond well to negative reinforcement well. We have the decades of data that shows we should not train animals with pain, using pain on children does not get positive results.

Like we should just be kind to ourselves.

Sigh, sadly the mental health impact of falling behind is very real. I was so stressed during my high school, and the eventual fatalism that Iead to mean just accepting that I was going to disappoint my parents again was just a huge blow.

Because of all that I just, kind of accepted myself as stupid, a perception of myself I still carry today.

Now, logically speaking, I think how society views intelligence is kind of horseshit. People are intelligent in different ways.

For example, rocket science is a profession accepted as being filled with intelligent people, yet the greatest rocket scientist is an idiot when it comes to weaving handbaskets. If society held up making handbaskets as the pinnacle of intelligent, then rocket scientists would be branded as idiots.

That’s an extreme example, but if you think about it that way, you realize most of the things we hoist up as things intelligent people do are just, things that require specific mindsets. You could be a greatest chess player, that doesn’t mean you can do rocket science. It’s just all so arbitrary.

That’s my view on things.

Yet, when the logical centers of my brain turn off, and my emotions creep in, I’m suddenly accepting myself as the dumbest person on the planet all over again. The logical part of my brain is literally giving me an out, but I still can’t get over pain from literally 20 years ago. It’s that powerful.

19 years ago,Layne Nightingale,later known as a musketeer called Silver Layne Nightingale,was born in a pirate family and had a quite happy time with her parents.

However,her happy life with her parents ended when she was 6 and got separated with her parents in a strom.Luckly enough for her,Layne was adopted by a red coat who had been through the entire Polarian War.

The Marleybonian raised and taught her many things of how to be a fine musketeer,especially on observing targets.Besides the dog also taught Layne something about photography.

4 years later,Layne’s adoptive father retired which means he could spend more time with the little human.All things they enjoyed most was appreciating Marleybonian’s albums of photo he shot,when Layne poined at one of these photo,he would tell her the story behind this photo.

That’s how Layne learnt about how the war ended and how a powefull ally the Armada was to Marleybone in the war.She also learnt the tales of General Rooke,since then,Rooke is a powerful and brave figure in her mind.

As far as Layne was concerned,Rooke is more a hero than the Surpreme Commander is.In her views,Kane just being the one behind Rooke and planning all the things while Rooke is charging ahead in the battlefield and risking his very own life with other soilders,clockworks and living beings.She also daydreamed that she and Rooke will have a chance to fight side by side and support each other,but it just merely an absurd daydream of her after all.

And she wouldn’t think this daydream will come true in a rather different way she ‘d never expected before.

When Layne was 17,she told her adoptive father that she decided to become what her parents were,a musketeer.The old dog respected her will and told her there always a place for her in Marleybone.With an old album gifted by her adoptive father and all the wishes,Layne Nightingale sailed to Port Regal and began her life of being a musketeer on a Marleybonian ship.

During her time in Port Regal,she heared a rumor that some Armada ships came to Skull Island but she had no iead about why they would come to some places like Skull Island and she never expected that she will come across with one called “Erebus”.

Still,Layne would consider Rooke to be her hero all the time despite she already knew the current Armada might had been change into something unexpected from the savior of the Spiral as they used to be considered.She also began to view the Armada in another point of views for their deeds in other worlds.

Several days ago,the musketeer’s ordinary life in Port Regal was ended in a way that Layne could never think of.She would never think she will actually meet a clockwork face to face,not to mention one of the Elites.But there she was,she directly met with the spymaster after being arrested.She heared this hideous clockwork before therefore Layne started to worry about her fate in the cell she in.

When she was thinking about what to do in the cell,someone blew up the cell and rushed in.Layne soon realized who this person was:a privateer called Reliable Katie.

Without any hesitation,Katie and Layne rushed to the board,they happened to meet with Deacon who wanted to stop them.However,when Boochbeared’s ship boarded Erebus,everything Deacon tried was in vain.

After their arrival in Skull Island,Katie told Layne she will rescue more pirates with Boochbeared and left.Layne had no iead about the privateer’s motivation and her next move,but she believed they will meet again soon.

Then she saw a swashbuckler and a buccaneer were walking toward her.For once,Layne felt something familiar with this swashbuckler as if she saw her somewhere even before she came to Port Regal but she couldn’t tell if it just an illusion of her.

Some sidenotes:

-Layne would never consider Deacon and Rooke are brothers but they do have some similarities.

-Really?:it seems Katie was the one who rescued all her future crewmates with the help from Boochbeared and Mr.Gandry.

-Melissa is the last one Katie rescued,maybe I will talk about this in her backstory later.

-The word “Silver” of her title is for her will be the one silver bullet to strike the evil down.(of course she won’t realize this until the moment comes)

-Even doubted Vanessa at the first sight and still doubting a lot,Layne still considers Vanessa as a crewmate of her.

-In some alternative universes,Layne is a Marleybonian officer who would assist the pirate crew in Book13 event and face Rooke himself on her very own.

WORK IMMERSION

(DIVISION OF TALISAY)

(March 12,2024-April 1,2024)

Today,(March 12,2024) is the beginning of my work immersion.I don't know how to start this but I really felt nervous, anxious at the same time excited, it's a privileged for me to enter and work at division office.I arrived before 8:00am,We immersion (10) student met Mrs. Jane the Head of Records she introduced and tour us at division office.She let everyone speak 1 by 1 starting by telling your expectations.After that,I went to the unit I was assigned which is the Supply Unit.I met Mr.Julius and Mrs.Marfie the Head and Ast. Head of Supply they are very kind and hands on.Mrs.Marfie discussed and oriented us the function and the technical term use in the Unit.She gaves us a bunch of papers to encode for Purchase Request, Purchase Order, Inspection and Acceptance Request and Request for Quotation.At first I'm a little bit confused about using the excel formulas since the work is connected to numbers (money).Yes,Mrs.Marfie is very hands on to us she teaches some basic keyboard shortcuts,excel formulas.Then, I proceed to the stock room and started doing the inventory of the IT supplies.Janitorial Supplies,Office Supplies and Medical Supplies.I was dizzy by the smell of the room because it has aircon,it's a mix of detergents and other janitorial supplies that makes me dizzy.

Days passed,I started to understand and learned the documents I was doing,Mrs.Marfie let me and my partner take care of the documents for RSPC and CVIRAA such as the list of player,coach and uniform.

Time flies so fast, It's already my 2nd week .I'm really not feeling well for this week.I have cough,fever, sneeze and soar throat.This week is very busy indeed in school and division's office.Because of the destruction from nat and exam there's so many extension happened on my work days.As usual we're busy encoding the the request of the clients.We encode 6 IAR for the foodpack of rspc.We went to the supply room because there's a delivery coming.We accompanied the delivery personnel,we count and check each product they deliver if it's right.We also arrange and count the extra uniform from RSPC 2020.The empIoyees are very kind because they treat us a snack every snack time.We are also happy to be able to participate in their/there flag ceremony as we Iead the prayer and Zumba.I have learned many things and something new not only for intellectual competencies but also the behavioural competences such as teamwork,consistent, punctuality and resilience.I can say that my 2 weeks work immersion in division office is amazing such a unforgettable experience that I want to extend my work.
