not gonna do one of those "year in review" art things. but i will say this, even though this was a tough year, im really happy and the things i did end up drawing. lots of little things and comics. just doodles and the occasional piece. just things that made me happy. next year i want to continue that, i just wish and hope i'll continue to draw and that i'll make things i genuinely enjoy. i wanna go into 2024 with a smile. :)

hey uh sorry for disappearing yet again for a couple months. don't have much of an excuse, though things have been more stressful than usual, offline life having involved family and hospitals and stuff, but not gonna go into any details, things are better now either way so ye. my way of coping with things have been mostly to just play games (ffxiv mainly, leveling alts and other grinding can be a good distraction sometimes) and nothing else to keep my mind off things, so haven't been able to focus enough to do much of any art at all. I am hoping to get back into the swing of things, I am back on my meds that I skipped out on for like a year due to various reasons, but they seem to be helping again so yeah, fingers crossed that things will work out and such ha

drawing zhancheng has been bringing me so much comfort actually, part of it because i've been thinking about them and having a lot of feelings for them lately, but mostly because everyone has been so kind with my zhancheng art. i've been in multiple fandoms over the last years but none of them has ever felt as safe and nice as the zhancheng fandom. i've never had so many people interacting with me and say so many nice things since idk. 2021? if you ever let a comment under my art or rb it with compliments in tags, just know that each one of your words brought me SO much joy.

But I'll do a little bit of rambling for Akos and Gale below a read more o3o

Akos and Gale are both my oldest consistently-in-existence OCs. Like, there are older ones, but they've been forgotten or cast aside (poor things v_v). Akos was a side character, like just a cameo side character, in my second nanowrimo in 2006, but he grew on me. Gale just... kind of spontaneously existed starting some time in 2007 without being attached to any story.

Akos has changed a lot, so that there's only some superficial resemblance to the original side character. I've tossed him into 9 demos; he's very adaptable to almost anything. Unfortunately that makes him a bit difficult to talk about because of so many simultaneous versions :|

Gale had a lot of changes right off the bat, but after those changes and for the most part they're actually pretty similar to their original form. They started off as an incubus, but that didn't sit right so I tried succubus for a while, and that sat even less right, so switched back, and eventually decided not-a-sex-demon and made up my own, so they wound up being a luck demon.

I've done more worldbuilding than I've needed to, but basically they can manipulate the balance of luck around them to an extent. They have a guilt complex about it though, so they generally give everyone around them good luck and as a result have some pretty shitty luck of their own. They're pretty superstitious on top of it, which is silly , but their reasoning is like, if their luck is going to be bad, no reason to make it worse by ignoring signs v_v

Their appearance hasn't changed much at all, but I'm debating making some revisions on the demon-y bits because I hate figuring out how to draw horns at different angles. As everyone hates, right.

They're in about 4 or 5 IF, and they tend to have similar too-nice-for-their-own-good and reckless habits. They're my Sidestep (as you know) and they are very, very blue except for like, 90-something daring. It's less daring and more stupid though.

But yeah, maybe I'll reblog some of those OC question prompt things on occasion for more targeted rambling o3o;;;

#inscryption #inscryption kaycee's mod #high cost deck #skull storm daily #god i'm the SADDEST person alive. i had a high cost run where i got an elk-MORSEL totem literally second woodcarver space i got #that was LITERALLY carrying me through the run #had a single black goat through some buffs and mycos got it all the way up to fucking. 4/17 or something i don't even remember #i put undying and bi-strike sigils on it just because i could #and because it had worthy sacrifice it could be applied to literally EVERY other card played after it. it was glorious. it was sacred #and that run. that run before this one. got fucked over. by a RINGWORM. that i drew hoping to feed to the campfire. that i never got rid of. #and lost because of it map 3. saddest day of my LIFE #i almost want to keep playing high cost just to see if i can replicate that run somehow sometime in the future #believe me you will KNOW about it if i do i would not shut up about it #as for this run- it went alright. never making the mistake of drawing a ringworm ever again. adders only from here on out. #for all three bosses i think i actually had to resort to the starvation strategy since i had bad luck with items #but it was alright bc i had the lammergeier (i'll never be able to spell it right) #i put many lives on my black goat pretty quick- which i don't really recommend #undying is way better #especially with annoying on- many lives usually means it has to stay alive on the board for more than one turn to be useful for long #but i managed #i went for totems a lot inspired by the run i failed but didn't find the ones i wanted really but it was fine- i ended up with elk/bi-strike #oh and i had goobert whip up a few copies of my many lives black goat just in case- and at the VERY end of the run gave me one that replaced #annoying with UNDYING. i was so happy. that card never saw the light of day #i gave one of my black goats to the bone lord too since i had a bunch which really helped buff my bone bird #final boss was a bit scary once phase 3 rolled around bc both my black goat and the best card i had on the board died #but i used some bleach and drew my bone bird and won #still SO sad about the elk-morsel run but this was fun

Extermination day. Once again. Yaaay! You hid in your apartment and waited. You knew he was coming. He was always coming.

You don't know why, but a couple years ago you were spared by Adam. Ever since then he always comes to check on you. Makes sure you're still alive. He says it's because it's funny watching you get pissed off at every little thing. Every little thing being his annoying ass.

You hear the knock at the door. It's the secret knock Adam made up so you'd know it was him. But this knock was rushed. Desperate almost. It sent a cold chill down your spine. It's not that you like Adam. You just don't want anything to happen to him and would be sad if he stops visiting but you don't LIKE him.

You quickly rush to the door, checking the peephole and there he was. Looking different? You unlocked the many bolts on your apartment door and let him in. He pushed himself past you, "what's up sinner tits?" Dumb name. You shut your door and lock it back up. "Hello, Adam." You look over at him and he looks restless. "You okay?" You ask, cocking an eyebrow in curiosity. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm fine, whatever." He scratched his arm like he was a drug addict. Itching for his next hit.

Your mind raced. What if the exorcists know he's been visiting me? What if he has to kill me? What if- you're snapped out of your thoughts. "Stop overthinking. You do that too much." He groaned. "Okay?" You walk over to him, his body tenses. "Why are you acting weird?" His eyes widen, he takes a couple steps back. "M-me? Weird?! Ha! That's- that's fucking rich coming from you!"

Okay, something up. That stutter screamed something was up. You put your hands on your waist stepping closer to him, causing him to step back. You ended up cornering him once he was stopped by the wall. "what the hell is up with you, Adam. Tell me, right now!"
