So tired of lateral ableism coming from autistics and ADHDers who have symptoms that aren’t severely debilitating. Like just because you don’t need meds or accommodations to function or you can conform well/adapt to NT society to a certain point doesn’t mean other autistics or ADHDers will also be able to?

This post brought to you by a group of people getting frustrated at us for being unable to keep up with a game, us saying “sorry I didn’t take my meds today” and them ALL glaring at me and scoffing about how well they haven’t been on ADHD meds for years. Every single person in the room (there were more than 2 other people). Like ok, good for you, I NEED them to function?? (and even then, I still can’t “pass” as NT.)

We feel so out of place even around other people who are also autistic and/or ADHD. Because so often the other(s) will show just enough traits to seem a bit quirky/odd to NTs, but not get read as visibly ND (except maybe under unusual circumstances, but generally speaking, they can mask effectively enough that NTs wouldn’t perceive them as “having something wrong with them”) but we’re noticeably “slow/r-worded” in a way we’re frequently, under normal, non-extreme circumstances, unable to hide. We’ve heard so many things about how other autistics and ADHDers found other neurodivergent folks and finally felt safe and comfortable after a lifetime of being judged in NT-dominated social circles, and we wish we could relate to that, but honestly we don’t feel any safer with someone just because they’re also autistic/ADHD, because in our experience they’re just as likely to be ableist to us as NTs. Sometimes even worse, because at least NTs can’t say “well *I* can handle (insert task) and I’m autistic/ADHD too so what’s YOUR excuse?”

But yeah. Some of y’all hate to acknowledge that autistics and ADHDers with higher support needs than you exist and you’re quick to throw the rest of us under the bus just because you’re so desperate to make autism and/or ADHD seem more palatable to NTs. Moderate-higher support needs neurodivergents shouldn’t have to beg lower support needs neurodivergents to have solidarity with us.

Y’all know I never believed Steve is dumb and I personally don’t write him like he is either. My personal and favorite head canons are Steve with ADHD or Dyslexia (or both) because I relate so hard to that lol.

But anyway, regardless of whatever your personal thoughts on the character, one thing I can now confirm is utter bullshit is the idea that Steve Harrington couldn’t have gone to college if he wanted to. Which the narrative implies he does, but *wump* *wump* doesn’t have the grades.

Lies. It’s another case of bad writers being bad at character development, and lazy on top of it because they clearly didn’t do any research.

And yes, I did do some research to reference in future stories.

For the nerds: Steve Harrington Should Be In College.

It’s a whole essay in there. But to sum it up: He graduated high school and for a lot of schools that was all he needed to get in. So as long as he could pay the tuition (which most students could do if they worked and went to school part time) there was nothing but nothing stopping this man going to school.

Hey y’all experiencing these heat waves or going places that are way hotter than you’re used to: Check your meds to find out whether anything you’re taking can cause heat sensitivity! This includes: heat intolerance (getting overheated very easily), increased sweat production OR impaired sweat production, increased OR reduced thirst, lethargy, reduced alertness, and increased risk of fainting

A lot of very commonly taken medications can cause heat sensitivity, and a lot of people don’t find out about it until they’re wondering why they’re sweating buckets or feeling exhausted after a short time in the heat. Additionally, some common OTC meds like cold and allergy meds, antibiotics, and NSAIDs can cause photosensitivity, which makes you far more prone to burning in the sun.

The warning signs of heat exhaustion include headache, racing pulse, heavy breathing, fatigue, nausea, muscle cramps, and light-headedness. If you start to experience these symptoms, get to a cool environment, remove any layers of clothing you can, place cool damp cloths on yourself, take frequent but small sips of water, and monitor your symptoms. If they don’t go away in an hour or they worsen, or you start vomiting, seek medical attention, because they could progress to heat stroke, and that is a life-threatening medical emergency. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. I AM NOT A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL. I’m just someone who’s taken many of these meds, some for over a decade, and it wasn’t until I moved to Arizona that a medical professional ever talked to me very specifically about these potential side-effects in a way that made me actually realize I’d been experiencing this. My prescriber is working with me to find some different meds that addresses my needs without making me miserable with side-effects, so if you’re in a similar place, ask what other options there might be for you. Above all, be safe in the heat! Stay hydrated, you need more water than you think, and it’s far better to take frequent small drink!

So… what do y’all do when you wanna do a bajillion things but you can’t settle on which thing to do so you just kind of end up doing nothing?

… lissen I’m still only recently diagnosed with adhd so I still don’t know how to work with it… I wanna draw so many things, wanna make merch, comics, I wanna write a fuckton of silly cringe fanfics… I wanna make videos? Like maybe youtube videos rambling abt stuff while drawing but then I don’t know if anyone would even be interested in that, and besides I haven’t done video editing in…. Probably close to 20years? What program should I use? Anyone got any tips on that?

I also wanna make stuff, lil bead things like these guys I made a while ago for example

I also wanna try doll customization cause it’s kinda only been the last decade or so where I’ve allowed myself to like dolls… reasons for that being … uh… gender stuff… it’s like only now in my life, around 30 have I finally gotten somewhat close to getting a grasp on my gender and sexuality, and I never even really realized before that this was something I had a problem with? Which probably makes no sense tbh…

I also wanna do sculpting and even paint, after art school teachers made me feel like I should never paint again bcs idk man I wasn’t up to their standards 🤷

And… I wanna do all this stuff but not only does brain say ‘adhd my guy’ but there’s also my increasing health issues that… I mean I’ve always had them but I guess getting older makes it harder and harder to constantly deal with them… and that’s another thing I never really realized was so bad until back when I was in Japan in 2015-2016 as an exchange student and would have to go to the hospital increasingly often bcs of pain nobody could diagnose… aand then I was shamed for it bcs having to go to the hospital in the middle of the night sometimes was a huge hassle to the dorm staff, idk I was a problem…

Since then I’ve had two operations and will probably need to have more in the future. Also, amusingly, when I finally got diagnosed I was looking at the list of symptoms, all of which I could relate to in at least some way, but the ones that stood out, for some reason, were ‘constant exhaustion’ and then below it was ‘insomnia’ and… maybe I’m not actually lazy when I’m tired all the time? But y’know, I don’t really wanna use a chronic condition as an excuse to just do nothing, plenty of ppl have chronic problems but still do stuff with their life… but when I think like that I also remember this isn’t a ‘pain competition’ or something like that and different people just have different capabilities to deal with chronic pain and such… idk, I honestly think I’m still trying to come to terms with the realization that being exhausted and in pain all the time probably counts as some kind of disability….. but I don’t feel like I’m allowed to say I’m disabled bcs I do also have good days, you know? I should probably try harder to just DO things?

Ahem, it’s like 9AM and I haven’t been able to sleep and stuff hurts… I just wanna go do something productive but instead I’m whining on here which I probably shouldn’t do bcs this is the internet and strangers can see what you post and maybe use it against you but also sometimes you just really wanna rant into the void… or maybe more like semi-void cause idk, maybe someone reads this and can relate or give advice or just talk or something? Buuut you suck at talking… then later you feel embarrassed about your tired rambles and probably end up deleting them and just bring them up in therapy later like you should…

Anyway, until this embarrassment pops up I’m probably gonna try to find some painkillers and go draw or something -3-

WRITING EXERCISE!!!

okay so I’m working on my characterisation of my Rafael, Max and Ari and its so difficult to create OCs y’all?? one of the biggest reasons I haven’t been able to write a lot these past few months is because of these dickheads since most of my upcoming fics have adult Lightwood-Bane kids in it, and I didn’t want to do a half-assed job with their characters so every time I sit down to write, I shift to working on these three and a few other OCs like Roohi and the ADHD is real y’all.

Anyways, I think I have a good idea about how these three are going to be like. So, just to help me with it, I’m open for prompts related to the kids.

So; y’all can send me 2 or 3 characters (one has to be Max/Rafe/Ari and the others can be malec/TMI Gang) and a scenario to write about. It can also be from any of my upcoming fics (BTLIO, Professor AU, NYPD Comish Alec, Attorney General Magnus fix). I think this small exercise might help a bit more. ND for NT? Neurodivergence in National Treasure

(Ben Gates Edition)

Previously, we discussed what the casting of Nicolas Cage brought to the role of Ben Gates, namely

age

a different relationship with attractiveness, and

Weirdness™

But for a lot of fans, Cage’s performance brings something else to the character as well: autism.

I have to admit, though I am no stranger to bestowing neurodivergent headcanons on my favorite media, National Treasure never caught my eye as a potential subject.

However, y’all have spoken.

So let’s explore this!

Because it seems relevant before we dig in, I am an official member of the Squirrel Gang (ADHD) but I’m probably not autistic. I did have a “what’s the difference/do I have both?” phase, so I’m a bit familiar with the criteria, how masking affects diagnosis etc. I’ll do my best to be faithful to your experience.

Okay.

While official diagnosis is definitely not everything when it comes to neurodivergence, we’ll start with the DSM-5 criteria for autism so we have a common framework to reference from.

I thought these two sites had particularly good breakdowns, one in table form and one in infographic and prose form.

Basically, there are two main diagnostic ‘buckets.’ Group A is about “Persistent differences in communication” and consists of three subcategories. All three must be present for diagnosis. Group B is about repetitive behaviors and interests, and two of the four subcategories are required for diagnosis.

Parts C-E are more of a check after A and B are met, so we’ll deal with those last.

I’ll also be adopting the convention of changing the DSM’s language of “deficits” to “differences” throughout, because fuck that.

BENJAMIN FRANKLIN GATES

A1. “Differences in social-emotional reciprocity.”

In adults this can look like “difficulty initiating or sustaining back and forth conversation; tendency to monologue without attending to listener cues; unusual response to greetings or other social conventions.”

Ben certainly does have a few unusual responses to conversation. When he meets Abigail for the first time, he’s on a very serious mission (his last chance to save the Declaration of Independence without committing a felony) but the first words out of his mouth are about her accent. Then at the end of that conversation, once he realizes she’s not going to engage with him on the topic anymore, he jumps up to end the conversation quickly and awkwardly, only reengaging with her when he brings up the GW buttons again. Ben offers no small talk that is not related to American History.

During the gala, he doesn’t seem to realize that Abigail and Stan are weirded out by his toast to high treason and enthusiasm for entrail-based punishments.

After he and Riley rescue Abigail from the catering truck, he asks her “Are you hungry?” This reads to me as an attempt to startle her out of her shock long enough to get an answer to his actual question (“Are you alright?”), but still.

And Ben Gates doesn’t not have a tendency to monologue. This is especially apparent in Book of Secrets, where he consistently talks over Abigail and Riley without listening to them. Though, as always, I do not think BoS was well-written or particularly in-character, so I treat it as canon only when it suits me.

A2. “Differences in nonverbal communicative behaviors used for social interaction”

This section is about difficulty understanding non-verbal social cues, tendency to minimally communicate through facial expression and gesture, dislike of eye contact, and difficulty moderating tone/volume of voice.

Once of the main points of evidence of this is that fact that Ben seemingly did not have any idea that Ian was a criminal, that Shaw brought a gun on the Charlotte expedition, or that they were going to turn on him at any moment.

Ben Gates is a smart man, but he’s blind to this either because he’s so desperate to find the Charlotte that he’s ignoring any troubling signs, either consciously or subconsciously, and/or he genuinely cannot read them. He might be completely unaware of the power dynamics between Ian, Shaw, and the rest of the crew, with are portrayed via tone and body language throughout the film.

Ian and Ben also agree that Ben cannot bluff. While he does manage to fool Ian at the end of the film, both other times when Ian brings up bluffing—on the Charlotte and in front of Trinity Church—Ben looks like a deer caught in the headlights.

When he gets the instructions to jump off the Intrepid, Ben doesn’t have to fool anyone, because the agents are too far away to see what he’s doing and he straight-up tells Sadusky what he’s going to do.

Headcanon alert: We know Ben has played poker with Ian. While you could certainly believe that Ian and the gang were play low-stakes cards sometimes to entertain themselves, I absolutely prefer to believe that Ben was running out of resources for the search and found his way into a back room poker game in a desperate bid to buy himself a little more time. At first, Ian saw a mark he could swindle out of his last few hundred dollars, but as Ben kept going on about this treasure and a girl named Charlotte, he got a much more lucrative idea.

In the tone of voice category, we have the exquisitely delivered “Rheallhy?” Ben also has a tendency to mumble to himself, as when Sadusky is playing with the glasses and he says,

BEN There’s more to it.

It’s hard for me to tell how Ben does as far as eye contact goes, but what’s very clear is that the time he does purposefully make extended eye contact it’s awkward as shit.

A3. "Differences in developing, maintaining, and understanding relationships"

This is the part where I just copy + paste the Nic Cage and the Art of Weirdness article to answer this prompt.

As a recap, we looked at the version of Ben presented in the 2003 script (just before Cage signed onto the movie) and the final character, and noted how Ben became less social and more isolated in the final film. References to previous girlfriends and an ongoing friendship with Riley are gone, as is the landlady whom he’s friendly with, etc. The film version of Ben Gates is someone who doesn’t seem to be particularly close to anyone, other than the people he needs for the treasure hunt (Ian and Riley).

So there’s some plausible evidence in all three subcategories of Group A. Let’s move on to Group B! (Remember, we only need 2/4 here.)

B1. “Stereotyped or repetitive motor movements, use of objects, or speech”

Ben does not strike me as a particularly stimmy person. Unless he’s doing actions directly related to the treasure hunt, he’s often framed as the still, stable center while Riley bounces around him.

(In these scenes, this blocking represents Ben’s resolve and the peace he’s made with his decision to steal the Declaration, versus Riley’s reticence and need to find another way out.)

He does do this thing, where he circles a finger over his temple,

which I adore because he’s being so intense and patiently righteous about it, but without other similar examples, I wouldn’t call this more than neurotypical levels of stimming.

B2. “Insistence on sameness, inflexible adherence to routines, or ritualized patterns of verbal or nonverbal behavior”

We meet Ben Gates during the two wildest weeks of his life, and he doesn’t seem to be clinging to a set routine. We get so few glimpses of his regular daily life that it’s hard to support.

B3. “Highly restricted, fixated interests that are abnormal in intensity or focus”

Do I even have to answer this one?

Boy hears story.

Boy spends next 30 years obsessively pursuing story.

Boy steals Declaration of Independence to prove story is true.

My guess is that it’s Ben’s lifelong fixation on the treasure and American history what gets people looking at whether he’s ND in the first place. Lmk if it was something else for you though!

B4. “Hyper- or hyporeactivity to sensory input or unusual interest in sensory aspects of the environment”

I don’t know that I would have considered this outside of the scope of this topic, but yeah, I could see a case for Ben being hyposensitive. He stabs his thumb on the Charlotte like it’s a pretty easy and normal thing to do. It’s Riley who really flinches, not Ben.

When he jumps off of the Intrepid, he doesn’t seem sore or cold afterward. Yes, the henchmen bring him dry clothes, but he doesn’t seem physically phased by such a dramatic stunt.

So we can meet the two out of four requirement here as well.

Groups C-E

These groups can be asked as three questions:

C. Were the symptoms present in early development?

We only see young Ben for a few minutes, but when we do he is already interested enough in the treasure to sneak into the attic to learn about it, and we know he gets obsessed with the legend that night and never lets it go.

Without additional information, we can say yes.

D. Do the symptoms cause clinically significant impairment?

While none of what we’re discussing here seems to impair Ben’s treasure hunting ability, I do think it’s be easy to make a case that this globetrotting treasure hunter gig is one of the only ones he’s well suited for. If Ben were forced to work an office job, for instance, I do not see him succeeding in that environment. I don’t know that he’d get the hierarchy, why he can’t just do what he wants, when he wants, that not everyone is driven by a greater purpose larger than themselves, etc.

So sure, check that off.

E. Are these disturbances not better explained by intellectual disability?

No. This seems self explanatory.

Congratulations! Benjamin Franklin Gates is fully diagnosable with autism if you so wish!

But what if you don’t wish?

Caveats and such

Well, first of all, you’re allowed to see fictional characters however you want to. The Ben Gates you have in your head is ever so slightly different from the one I have in mine, and the one another reader has in theirs. If it’s important to you that he’s autistic, or allistic, or whatever, then he is.

And there’s a big asterisk I have to put on this assessment. Well, actually 2.

One, I am not a trained professional, and fictional character Ben Gates was not here to answer these questions himself.

Two, there’s a caveat to all of this analysis, a loophole, and I already brought it up:

We only see Ben Gates during the two weirdest weeks of his life.

So yes, could he struggle with eye contact and reading social cues and that’s why he’s so unhinged during the toast? Absolutely.

But he’s also like, a would-be history professor about to commit a major crime with one week of preparation. He’s not the slick professional we’re used to seeing in heist movies like Ocean’s Eleven, nor is he a highly trained Bond-style hero who’s ready for anything. He’s a regular (ish) person about to do something he can never take back. How is he supposed to be “normal” in that situation? What does that even look like?

The only food we see him eat is a microwaved Stouffer’s lasagna. Is that because he relies on the predictable taste and texture of processed foods, or because he’s been planning a heist all week and doesn’t have time for anything else? You decide!

Is he hyposensitive to pain, or is he just an action-adventure protagonist who’s expected to action-adventure without getting a scratch until the plot demands otherwise? He could be both!

Conclusion

Personally, while I like this reading of the character, I’m not sure I consider it ‘basically canon’ the way I do some other ND headcanons, in large part because we spend so little down time with Ben. I have no idea what his regular life is like.

I was looking through my favorite/personal ND headcanons, and most of them are from TV shows rather than movies. I think that’s precisely because long-term behavior patterns are so much more apparent in people you spend weeks or years with.

However, as a matter of fic and headcanon, I love this! Because there you can spend as much time with Ben as you want to. It opens up so many opportunities to add my very favorite thing in fictional narratives: texture.

Did Ben truly have no idea what Ian was capable of?

Does all this adventuring make his samefoods hard to come by?

Does he hate the feeling of wet clothing, because hoo boy, he is having a Bad Time™ in Book of Secrets.

Is a tiny part of what keeps him pursuing the treasure the knowledge that he can’t function very well in any world except the one he’s created for himself?

So many possibilities!

18. Alice Luoja (She/Her) @cantdanceflynn @pyxehastoomanyinterests

Known as “The Bitch” by her creator and I, Alice is a crusty old woman who has dedicated her life to tracking down and studying gods with the hopes of becoming one herself. She does this with the help of her brainwashed “adopted”(stolen) son. She had started this journey when she was 15 years old, and has not stopped because she is a very pathetic woman with nothing better to do(god forbid she take care of her son). When she does get her hands on the gods, her experiments range from creepy to life threatening. A personal favorite of mine is when she plucked the eyeballs out of an approx. 9 year old. She uses the blood of her “patients” to fuel many weapons(guns, knives, etc.). Alice just loves to fuck everything up, including her own life and others’. She’s also - drumroll please - a cult leader! Or an attempted one, for she’s such a picky loser that she tosses aside most potential members because of their lack of “use”.

tl;dr - Mother Gothel found a new, mainly not hair related obsession!

Alice is a Phineas and Ferb OC that (basically)lost the last poll she was entered into because she was too mean and terrible for the mean and terrible competition. So y’know. Just so y’all can gauge her character skdhksbd.

1. Hart, son of Sabine (He/They/It) @zillastar13

Hart is a vampyre in his early twenties. At age fifteen they were adopted by three retired generals who helped lead a revolution in the nation of Iyuetse on behalf of the lower class and various opressed nonhuman species. Hart himself was born the same year the Iyuetsen Civil War started.

The generals' names are Sabine, Dhara, and Hesperia. They're married and important members of the government, looking out for vampyre interests, ready and willing to rally the troops in case of any further wars. They turned Hart into a vampyre when he was nineteen, four years after his adoption. Hart is currently the main (read: only) researcher in the field of vampyiric biology. As pretty much everyone else is only concerned in the supernatural aspects.

He's the: "Hey, human (surrogate) siblings of mine, come lash me down, vivisect me, draw some diagrams, and take plenty of notes for me to sort through later :)" type.

He convinced a few retired vampyre hunters to sit through interviews on murder methods for his scientific research with his (surrogate) older brother Saro, who obsessively takes notes on everything.

Because vampyres can produce chemicals through their salvia glands meant to numb the flesh of their victims, Hart is looking for a way to harvest large quantities for use as a medically used pain killer.

It is also very pro sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Nevermind that vampyres can't do drugs properly and concerts give him a sensory overload. He's very willing to sell vampyre venom as an oddly safe alternative to most hard drugs created by humans.

Hart collects pieces of taxidermy from before the Iyuetsen Civil War, when vampyre hunting was legal. For macabre science reasons. Its bedroom isn't even a bedroom at this point, just a laboratory with his casket shoved in the walk in closet along with lab coats.

They have plenty of weird stuff going on in its non-science related life. Such as a book club currently reading Dracula. Which is made up of vampyres, retired vampyre hunters, and blood bag prostitutes. Because what's the point of reading a controversial book if you're not doing it with people bearing conflicting and inflammatory opinions?

Its very good with kids, and has a sunny (pun intended) disposition. He has ADHD and NPD and can't stop rambling about their research projects to save his life. His relatives are confused, but awkwardly smile and support him.

headcannons for alfred, Romano, and a little bit about Toris

y’all like these so… yeah Brain time anywho-

Alfred is very clingy and affectionate but tries his best to respect any set boundaries placed by Freinds on affection, especially since he knows his strength can potentially hurt people-

- However, he does not know these boundaries unless they are clearly stated because either he does ent realize because the adhd and differences in processing, or because he notices something but overthinks it to the point where he just thinks he’s being irrational.

that’s one of the reasons he became so close to Mano so quickly, romano takes no shit from anyone because he’s done doing so. He’s sets his boundaries very quickly and directly and doesn’t try to sugarcoat the fact that someone has made him uncomfortable. Some people perceive this as him being anisocial or pushing people away, but if you respect the set boundaries and just get to know him you see the true Romano and eventually some of those boundaries begin to dissolve a little bit.

romano dissent like affection from anyone he’s not super close to. He makes that clear. Alfred respected that as much as an over affectionate person could, by finding different ways to express affection. Offering fistbumps and high fives as opposed to hugs. Not taking up too much space on the couch so Romano can have his personal space. Eventually as they became closer while living together Romano started being more open to affection, leaning on people, offering hugs, ruffling Alfred’s hair, though most affection initiated by him it was still a change. Romank also showed affection in different ways, checking on alfred so he didn’t iverwork himself, helping Tori’s cook in the kitchen, showing his art to the others, opening up about his past, giving occasional compliments, hanging up in Poland when he tried to call Toris because damn that bastardo is so annoying.

though Romano is also bad seeing other peoples emotions sometime. For alfred he processes differently and grew up with rather non-expressive, yet dramatic people. He was raised to be a weapon and a recourse who could handle public relations, and to Arthur that didn’t involve teaching him how to read emotikn… thank god Gilbert came around. Anyways, Romano had the exact opposite. He grew up with hyper expressive Antonio and Lovino. he was raised to express his opinion as opposed to repressing emotion. However that mean he’s used to just easily being able to read people and so when he can’t he tenses up( one of the reasons he doesnt like Ludwig). Because of all of this, Toris is usually the one to help them read people, giving them a look to convey a negative or positive emotion. He tries to communicate effectively and express when he has the energy.

Though, that’s not to say that alfred and Romano are bad at emotions or that Toris is amazing at them. Toris feels that he needs to resolve every conflict and miscommunication because of his history with Russia who could be slightly temperamental if accidentally spurred. Because of this he get involved in exhausting unnecessary drama and is rumored to be dramatic himself by the other countries. Alfred overtime notices many small details about people like their stims, hyperfixtations, sounds, ect. This helps him figure out what they’re feeling and what he can do to help form his personal experience and patterns in their behavior. Some find it off-putting but it can be endearing. Romano will talk to people the cares about when he thinks they’re upset and gives them a chance to vent. He gives the vibe of a someone who’s done with life, but really cares about people, and those things combine into what Toris and alfred call parental Romano. He tells them their feelings are valid, gives them a game plan, offers emotional support or to just stay with them or get someone else who may be better equipped to handle the situation. His pep talks are a little bit blunt but that can make them funny at points.

nowadays, the three of them are all very comfortable with eachother. So comfortable that some countries suspect they are together. after all, how could anyone ever tolerate Alfred’s forehead kisses, and hugs, and overly-friendly personality if they weren’t dating him. Or tolerate romanos smart ads comments that get barks of laughter out of the other two. Or Tori’s’s frequent well being checks all the time?! I mean really it’s a wonder. Though the rumor of them dating began to spread quickly when they were found late to a meeting, all in a cuddle pile on the pullout couch bed in alfreds hotel room I. Front on the tv, alfred “sleep hugger” jones holding Romano closely to his side which Romano is comfortably slumped into, while toris is lying down , head laying on Alfred’s thighs, wrapped In a blanket, with Alfred’s hand on his head as though stroking his hair.

francis of course was the one to find them. Of course, he also started the rumor. However to everyone else who personally knows the three like Kiku and mathew, they all know this is normal for the them. ( or is it more…) idk , ships it if you want and don’t ship it if you don’t. I personally think it’s a really cute shop though I just see this as really good friends. ( though that’s mainly because in my hetalia storyline that’s in my head I gave alfred and oc bf so….yeah) just dudes being bros, living together, cuddling, being all cute to impress eachother…

Out of curiosity, what's your writing style? Do you plot everything out from the start? Go with the flow? Write ahead then go back and fix stuff in previous chapters? Mine is like...60% just writing random ideas down to toss somewhere into a story, 10% filling in the gaps between said ideas, and 30% going with the flow (these numbers have been pulled from my ass and are completely arbitrary) I refuse to talk about how I am my own beta reader and proof read 100 times over and still make fuck ups I don't like to post fics while I'm still writing them because I have ADHD and could potentially drop a fic in the middle of it, and I don't wanna subject any potential readers to the disappointment of a dead fic ;-;

My writing style is manic. Utterly insane. For a full length story I have a barebones skeleton of characters, major events. Never have an ending planned out because I think conclusions naturally reveal themselves.

Like you, I do the feverish scribbling of ideas. This all goes into the notes app on my phone. And at all hours of the day/night. Legit have woken up at 3 am to write an idea down. My out-of-ass percentage is also 60.

The rest is purely raw dogging the shit of the story 😅 I’ll write around phrases/metaphors/statements I want to include and then hope for the best.

It’s humiliating how many times I reread over my stuff and still find a way to include typos. I just hope y’all glaze over it. I’ll pick it up eventually.

Then after birthing a chaotic prose baby I’m happy with. I’ll publish it then not look at it for like a week. I’m so dramatic. I blame being a Pisces for this trait.

Can also relate to dropping fics like hot potatoes. But for me, it’s usually when I’m uninspired. Like the process is no longer romantic and full of feelings and tortured etc etc etc. I can’t stand writing when I’m bored, you know?

Okay so…Did anyone ever read a history book? Or ever get to learn what empathy is? Because these tags/reblogs on this post are HORRENDOUS and dumb.

Before I say anything: I want to clarify I am a Mexican + Salvadoran American, Nonbinary and nblm, and I probably have DID. Meaning, I do have experience in a lot of different communities! I’m speaking as someone who has seen this first hand and am actually taking courses in college on this. Moving on…

A big part of what irked me about these particular reblogs is the ‘reminder’ that white girls wouldn’t need to add on minority identities to have an opinion - because that’s based upon the idea that people who scream the loudest about being marginalized are NOT the white girls with minority identities themselves!

As I said on that post, white people are STILL the poster children of most other marginalized groups besides race. Y’all only have it worse than other white people. Marginalized groups that aren’t predominantly known to affect white people are deemed UNSAFE and DISGUSTING (such as single mothers, addiction, and other ‘stereotypical poc’ issues) UNLESS lo and behold, there’s a white woman or man dealing with that issue. You will always get help first.

Mental Illness Awareness online is predominantly White and AMAB.

LGBTQ Spaces are predominantly White.

Disability safe spaces are predominantly White.

And there’s nothing WRONG with being white and having minority identities. The thing is, it’s a problem y’all created for yourselves that you blame people of color for. Y’all think white people need to be oppressed in some way in order for them to even be an ALLY to marginalized groups. This is white guilt at its finest. This is the idea that you’re all stuck washing away the blood off your ancestors hands- which only leads you guys to NEED to be coddled by excessive labeling to make yourselves feel like you’re even allowed to have an opinion on something. You can, the only thing is, you just need to know that

1. You are not your ancestors. Whatever they did in the past, learn from it. Even if they WERE bad people, what they did does not mean you’re ‘tainted’ forever.

2. LISTEN. You can have opinions on things that include minorities and marginalized groups, but at the end of the day, you do not have the privilege to speak OVER (as in, negate) their own experiences. And if they say something is racist - maybe it is. If they say you don’t understand completely, it’s means you…

3…. Need to check your privilege. You are always going to be white first before anything. Copying from my last post, the difference between being white and a minority vs being POC and a minority is the fact that whiteness gets to stay ambiguous (no one will demand you to clarify what ‘type of white you are) and have the luxury of being able to say “I’m nonbinary/gay/have adhd/autism/am disabled/yada yada ya.” whereas for POC, their ethnicity is their most defining characteristic, and is NOT allowed to be ambiguous.

Latinos/Hispanics (in my personal experience) are often asked by other latinos/hispanics and non-latinos/hispanics alike what ‘type of latino’ they are. It's almost as if people of color are demanded to explain who they are to white people in order for them to be relatable in this day and age. It's almost as if we have been forced to wear our ethnicities out and about, getting harassed or worse because we are not white.

If you didn’t know, racism derives from religious beliefs- certain people who looked a certain type of way were considered “unholy” and “unfit in the eyes of God”. If you had a big nose, or a certain hair texture, you were deemed ‘Not Christian enough’. They would look for any reason to deem people ‘Not Christian Enough’, or not ‘white enough’ when talking about modern day racism.

I fucking despise white people who try to use their marginalization as a way to garner sympathy and support from minorities. We understand that you are and can be oppressed too, but that doesn’t fucking get rid of your MOST DEFINING FACTOR: YOUR WHITENESS. At the end of the day, you will always be able to hide your oppression behind your whiteness. Your whiteness is your shield. It can blind you. We cannot hide behind our ethnicity. We cannot be ambiguous. That’s the harsh fucking reality.

But that’s were EDUCATION comes in! Learning about your privilege actually helps you understand people a LOT better. I don’t blame you guys at all for being uninformed. But you only become an oppressor when you’re purposefully ignorant.

Don’t do that.

YES, you can be biased towards white people, but they’ve been the majority for a LONG TIME, meaning white people cannot and will not experience racism for a very, very long time. Unfortunately because of this, a lot of POC teach their children to be afraid or to hate their oppressors, and are also taught to cater to the majority’s gaze. This is where that whole “evil majority” shit comes from - and funnily enough (and again), is a term that y’all came up for yourselves.

We have our own issues inside our own communities (not to discredit anything that happens for white communities) that we really don’t need white input on too. Just felt like I needed y’all to hear that. If you really think we POC are curating an intricate way to discredit/discriminate against White people, perhaps those places that you feel left out in ARE NOT places for you at all! Think of it as a bathroom- do you really think a lock on the bathroom door means you’re not allowed to use it ever or does it mean when it’s unlocked and open, you’re free to use it?

TL;DR: White people whining about not having a voice is ironic because they’re the ones creating these barriers for themselves.
