Note
This is me humbly requesting some Jimmy and Joel/Grian interactions from your dance floor au🙏
Additionally I would kill for a d&d au that genuinely sounds so fun as someone who played dnd years ago (unf the group was not fun to play with, I feel bad for our dm)
hungry busy people
also on AO3 sequel to let's ditch the dance floor (4048 words)
“Friday night,” Joel sarcastically cheers, under his breath. “Living the dream," Jimmy refuses to pay attention to him. He’s got his planner, his Google Calendar, and all his course websites open in front of him, but he still feels like he’s forgetting something. He goes down this weekend's to do list for the third time, comparing it to upcoming deadlines.
“Class signup starts next week right?” he asks, whipping up to look at Joel, across the table. Joel pauses his lamenting on missing on date night with Lizzie.
“Registration isn’t for another two weeks.” Joel says slowly. Jimmy flips to two weeks out and, sure enough, there it is on Thursday in capital letters: “CLASS SIGNUP 8 AM!!” Jimmy groans.
“Are you forgetting something?” Joel asks, barely hiding his amusement.
“Tell me you know what I’m forgetting.” Jimmy leans over his open notebooks and half the table to beg properly.
Joel leans away from Jimmy’s hands and smirks. “How should I know what you’ve forgotten?” He reaches for his phone as he speaks and starts typing without breaking eye contact.
“If you’re texting Grian to make fun of me—” Jimmy starts, in his best attempt at threatening. It isn’t very good, given how Joel’s smirk just grows.
“Do your homework Jim.” Joel pats the top of his hand. “It’ll come to you; probably when you least expect it.” Joel sounds too happy about this for Jimmy’s taste. He sighs and sits back. Joel has decided to be unhelpful and there’s no changing his mind. Jimmy hates him a little.
“I hate you a lot.” He tells Joel. Joel is not bothered by this.
Truthfully, Jimmy can only hate Joel a little today. Joel agreed to go to the vet school library with him on a Friday night, even though it’s a good 15 minute bus ride from their dorm, because Jimmy focuses better here than at the library on main campus. Jimmy needs to be at the library on a Friday night because, at some point this semester, his workload went from substantial to overwhelming. And on top of that, there’s… something else. Something is happening this weekend and that means Jimmy has to get as much work done today as possible.
To start: this godforsaken discussion post that’s due at midnight. He switches windows back to the week’s reading and continues skimming it, hoping for something to jump out at him. He just needs to find something vaguely interesting to write 150 words about and then he can tell two random classmates they “brought up some very intriguing points, I hadn't considered that” and be done with the class—at least until next Friday’s discussion post.
It’s on his fourth reread of the same sentence (so much for skimming) that Jimmy feels a presence behind him. He freezes and considers. Joel is still in front of him, intently focused on his laptop screen. There’s only one other person Jimmy knows who would stand behind him and silently wait like this, but he’s an hour drive—this is the thing Jimmy forgot!
Jimmy whirls around, his suspicions immediately confirmed when he nearly smacks Grian in the stomach in his excitement. “Grian!” he exclaims and immediately winces at his volume.
“Hey Tim,” Grian grins. “Took you long enough to notice.” He ruffles Jimmy’s hair before sitting down.
“He’s been here for seven minutes.” Joel says as he reaches across the table to bump fists in greeting. “I timed it.”
“You’re getting sloppy Tim.” Grian shakes his head.
“Shut up.” Jimmy whines. “Where’s your stuff man?” He cannot believe he forgot Grian was staying the weekend; it’s not like their plans were what got him through the last few weeks.
“In my car, which is by your dorm, because that’s where you told me you’d be.” Grian pokes Jimmy in the chest. “Joel had to coach me through your bus system by text!”
Joel smirks at Grian’s annoyance. “Sorry, not all of us have the cutting-edge infrastructure of HCU.”
“A functional, easy-to-understand bus system is not cutting-edge—”Grian starts, voice rising, before Joel and Jimmy shush him.
“Yes, yes, HCU rules, ESU drools.” Joel says mockingly, rolling his eyes.
“Don’t give us Scar’s public transportation rant, I have homework I need to finish.” Jimmy pleads. Grian splutters like he can’t decide what to be offended by first.
“It’s not a rant—It’s not Scar’s—” he squawks. Jimmy and Joel glance at each other and laugh.
“Hush, both of you,” Grian folds his arms. “You’re doing homework? I drove all the way here, rode your horrible bus, to watch you do homework?”
Jimmy can't help but laugh. He’s missed Grian so much.
“Don’t laugh!” Grian exclaims and Joel shushes him again, still laughing as he does.
“The grind doesn’t stop.” Jimmy shrugs. “Gotta finish this today so I’m free tomorrow.” At the mention of tomorrow, Grian brightens.
“Yes! I’m looking forward to your gym.” he enthuses and Joel groans. “You guys actually have more climbing space than HCU does.” Grian continues and Joel groans louder.
“You’re obsessed.” Joel complains.
“Alright, Mr. Thought of Baby Names Three Months in.” Grian scoffs.
“I did not—not three months—” Joel fumbles to defend himself, flushing. “I would never—I was totally cool and normal about Lizzie.” His flush deepens at the mention of his girlfriend, which doesn’t really help his case.
“So, we’re just lying now?” Jimmy asks Grian in a stage whisper and they grin at each other.
“Shut up,” Joel groans, head in his hands. “Do your homework Tim.”
Jimmy frowns, but before he can say anything, Grian pokes his arm. “Yeah Timmy,” he says teasingly, switching sides easily. “Finish your homework so we can get out of here.”
“Boo,” Jimmy mumbles and he and Joel start working again.
Grian leaves them alone for about ten minutes, entertaining himself with his phone, before getting bored and scooting his chair closer to Jimmy. He rests his chin on Jimmy’s shoulder and starts reading along. Jimmy, used to this, lets his shoulder drop a little so Grian is more comfortable.
“Jim,” Grian says after a moment.
“Hmm?”
“If you don’t pick a random quote and start writing—” Grian starts and Jimmy just laughs. Joel looks up at the two of them, an eyebrow raised. “He’s overthinking this.” Grian huffs, sounding personally offended.
“I’d never accuse Jimmy of thinking too much.” Joel smirks.
“Hey!” Jimmy exclaims. “I wasn’t sure where to start and—” Grian cuts him off.
“That doesn’t sound like ‘Thank you for the advice, Grian, I’ll get right to it!’”
Jimmy rolls his eyes. “Thank you for the advice, Grian, I’ll get right to it.” he parrots. Grian pats him on the head and sits back, looking smug.
The worst part is: Grian is right. Jimmy finds the sentence he had to read four times and starts writing, “A quote that I found particularly interesting…”
Grian watches him type for a few minutes before getting bored again and rolling over to watch Joel. “That doesn’t look like homework.” He remarks dryly. Jimmy looks up to see the familiar expression of Joel caught texting Lizzie something gross and cheesy and quickly looks back to his own laptop screen, happy to let Grian take care of that.
- - -
They’re at the library for a few more hours, until it’s almost 12:30. Jimmy finished his discussion post and the two replies and starts on his math homework (Grian immediately teases him for “taking a finance class, that’s not even real math!”). Joel, eventually, probably because she fell asleep, stops texting Lizzie and starts reading. It’s a lot of highlighting, mumbling to himself, and looking like the book in front of him insulted his mother. Grian steals Jimmy’s phone, gets the passcode right on the first try because Jimmy hasn’t bothered to change it since Grian first learned it in high school, and starts playing Angry Birds. Jimmy doesn’t even remember having Angry Birds on his phone.
Eventually, Jimmy’s mind feels like a thick soup and Grian has given up on Angry Birds in favor of spinning his chair worryingly fast. Joel, seeing the state of the two of them, snaps his book closed and says, “Let’s get out of here.”
“Finally!” Grian exclaims, jumping up to his feet. He sways and stumbles and Jimmy laughs as he packs up his stuff.
Grian is buzzing with energy as they leave the library and head to the bus stop. The night air is warm and heavy with humidity. The sidewalk is lit a hazy orange-yellow from the streetlights. There’s no one else at the bus stop. Jimmy stands by the sign and bounces on his toes. Grian squints at the bus stop bench, like he's grading it. For a moment, it’s quiet—only the sounds of distant traffic and bugs.
“I’m hungry.” Joel announces to the night air, startling Jimmy a little.
“Nothing’s open right now.” Jimmy frowns.
“Do you not have food in your room?” Grian asks. Neither Jimmy nor Joel dignify his question with a response.
“There’s gotta be something open.” Joel pulls out his phone and opens his map app, pinching and panning and zooming in on nearby streets. Both Jimmy and Grian crowd around, bumping their heads together.
“I really cannot believe ESU doesn’t have stuff nearby open past midnight.” Grian mumbles. Jimmy can’t believe HCU would.
“There’s a Waffle House not far from our dorm, which is good because this is the last bus.” Joel announces, zooming in on the Waffle House in question. He looks a little too excited about this. Jimmy glances at Grian, who looks more caught up on the idea that the buses are stopping now.
“I could eat,” Jimmy offers and, just like that, their plans have been made.
“Waffle House!” Joel cheers and switches over to stare at the bus tracker app.
- - -
The Waffle House isn’t very busy, unsurprising for it being nearly 1 am, only another group of five college students crammed in a booth and only two people working. The blond, middle-aged cook yells at them to “sit wherever!” when they enter and Grian picks a booth for them. Joel slides in next to Grian and drops his backpack on the opposite bench right as Jimmy’s about to sit. Jimmy rolls his eyes, pushes the bag further in, and accidentally kicks Joel as he’s getting settled. Joel, of course, immediately kicks him back, and things devolve from there.
“Boys!” Grian admonishes as the waiter comes up to the table, menus in hand. “Can’t take them anywhere.” he jokes, like he didn’t just kick Jimmy in the shins. The waiter, a tall, lanky guy about their age with a yellow sweater on underneath his Waffle House shirt, looks unimpressed and drops the menus on the table. Joel, noticing the waiter, straightens up.
The waiter says, “Yell for me when you're ready.” and leaves.
“Christ that dude is tall.” Joel remarks as soon as he’s gone.
“You’re just short.” Grian rolls his eyes and pulls the menu Jimmy was reaching for towards himself.
“Taller than you!” Joel says indignantly.
“Don't start,” Jimmy begs, head in his hands. Joel takes this as an opportunity to the remaining menu. Jimmy doesn’t react. They all know what they want anyway.
He twists around to wave the server over. He’s talking to the cook, who looks a little more stressed than Jimmy would like the person making his food to look, especially if they work at Waffle House. When the tall man notices, he pushes off the counter and heds over.
“What can I get you guys?” he asks, shoving his hands in his pockets. Jimmy catches his nametag: Wilbur.
“Double hashbrown, scattered and covered please.” Jimmy says, ignoring Grain’s responding gag. The server nods and turns to Joel, who’s puffing out his chest. Jimmy has to stare really hard at poor Wilbur’s beanie (red, a little dirty, definitely not in-uniform) to avoid Grian’s eye.
“All star breakfast, with bacon.” Joel replies and at least he’s not dropping his voice like he used to do in front of Lizzie all the time.
“Double waffles,” Grian says. “And we’ll all have orange juice.” Jimmy hates orange juice.
“It’s gonna be a while on those waffles.” Wilbur informs them. “We’ve only got one iron working at the moment and they”—he gestures behind him lazily to the other table— “all ordered waffles. That explains the cook’s expression. All three of them wince sympathetically.
“That’s fine.” Grian reassures him. Wilbur nods and leaves before Jimmy can remember he doesn’t like orange juice.
- - -
Their food comes fairly quickly, except for Grian and Joel’s waffles of course. “Yeah it’s gonna be about an hour.” the server tells them, faintly apologetic.
“Holy moly,” Jimmy breathes and Joel and Grian grimace in unison.
“We’ll wait,” Grian tells him.
“Waffle House welcomes you 24 hours a day.” Wilbur replies flatly before leaving, clearly quoting something from his training. Joel snorts into his food.
Jimmy slides his orange juice across the table to Grian. “Timmy, you've got to get your Vitamin C.” Grian says, taking a massive gulp of Jimmy’s orange juice. “What if you get scurvy or something?”
“I’m not getting scurvy.” Jimmy says and starts eating.
“You’re eating potatoes and cheese; that’s not exactly a balanced diet.”
“He does have a point.” Joel agrees, mouth full.
“You’re not any better!” Jimmy doesn’t exactly yell, and Joel and Grian both shush him.
- - -
Thirty minutes later, hashbrowns long gone, Jimmy has his head on the table, pillowed under his arms, half-asleep. Grian and Joel have been talking about this ghost-hunting video game for at least twenty minutes. While Jimmy plays it all the time with them, he barely knows the rules, nevermind the intricate strategies they’re discussing. Instead he lets their voices wash over him and, between them and the rain. He’s almost—
Jimmy sits bolt upright and blurts, “It’s raining?”
Grian and Joel pause to exaggeratedly glance between him, the window, and each other.
“Indeed it is, Timmy,” Grian claps mockingly. “Well done.” Jimmy groans.
“No, walking back is gonna be a pain.”
“Neither of you have an umbrella?” Grian asks, somehow surprised.
“I’m sure it’ll clear up soon.” Joel tells Jimmy. They both leave Grian's question unanswered.
- - -
Twenty minutes later, the rain hasn’t cleared up and, in fact, has gotten much worse. The water’s coming down in sheets angled by the wind. Jimmy was woken up by a loud crack of thunder and nearly jumped out of his seat, much to Joel and Grian’s amusement.
A little while later, Wilbur comes by with their waffles. “Sorry for the wait,” he says, not sounding sorry at all. “I’ll bring your bill in a moment, you guys paying separately or together?”
“Seperate,” Jimmy mumbles distractedly staring out the window at the storm. He can’t even see the streetlight by the bus stop.
The server pauses and adds, a little more sincerely this time, “You really are welcome to stay as long as you gotta.”
“Thanks,” Joel grins around a mouthful of waffle.
“Gross,” Grian groans around his own mouthful of waffle. Wilbur leaves, somehow looking both disgusted and disinterested.
Jimmy’s startled out of his storm-induced daze when every phone in the building goes off in quick succession. He scrambles to silence his, not even reading the warning displayed on the screen.
“Flood warning,” Joel reads. “No shit.” Flooding does indeed seem like a given as water streams down the sidewalk and starts to puddle over the one visible storm drain.
Jimmy drums his fingers on the table. His backpack is water resistant, but that doesnt mean much in a storm like this. None of them even have an umbrella or even jackets; it had been so warm that evening.
“I think we should wait.” He says.
“I’m not getting my laptop wet.” Joel agrees.
“Fine,” Grian sighs. It’s almost 2 am.
- - -
By 2:15, they’ve paid and their dishes sit in a neat stack next to a not insignificant cash tip that the three of them pooled together.
“For you and the poor man with only one waffle iron.” Grian tells Wilbur when he comes to collect their plates and raises an eyebrow at the bills. He actually laughs as he tucks it apron pocket.
When he leaves their table, they hear him yell, “Hey old man, tip for you!” and fall over each other trying not to laugh too loudly.
- - -
By 2:30, the rain has slowed enough that Jimmy can actually see through it. A couple, two college-aged women, had emerged suddenly into the yellow-white light of the Waffle House sign. Now, they stand by the counter, dripping.
“You can, like, walk but it sucked.” Jimmy hears one of them tell the cook, a little too casually for someone who was just out in the middle of a flood warning. The other apologizes profusely to Wilbur who’s brought over a mop.
Grian’s entertaining himself on Jimmy’s phone, so Jimmy looks over to Joel, who said he restarted his reading but is actually on his phone. Joel, as if sensing Jimmy’s gaze, looks up. “I don't wanna be stuck here all night with no sleep—we’re supposed to meet Lizzie for breakfast before work” he says a little sadly. Grian looks up from Angry Birds to glance between them.
Jimmy weighs his options. On the one hand, his laptop is out of warranty and he can’t afford to get it or his notes wet. On the other hand, Lizzie’s busy all weekend and the only chance she has to see Grian is at some cafe 20 minutes away tomorrow morning. At 8 am.
“It’s still pouring.” Grian complains. “Give it a bit.” They give it a bit.
- - -
By 2:45, the rain has barely slowed while Jimmy definitely has. He and Grian started stacking creamer pods and every so often Jimmy knocks them over and just stares, blinking, while Grian cackles.
He sets down the creamer he was about to stack and whines, “We can’t stay here any longer.”
Joel snaps his book closed and jumps up. “Right, let’s get going then so we can sleep and then wake up on time because I refuse to be late to meeting Lizzie.” He leans across the table, reaching for his bag, as he says this.
“Wait, wait, hang on a minute,” Grian says, still wiping tears of laughter from his eyes. “Can we be smart about this please?”
Joel, practically laying on the table to reach his bag tucked against the window with one hand while balancing off Jimmy’s shoulder with the other, says, “I’m always smart.”
“Uh-huh,” Grian says, unconvinced, and slides out past Joel's legs to talk to the cook, who’s leaning against the counter looking half-asleep. Jimmy manages to escape from Joel to stand and laughs as Joel flounders, trying not to fall off the table.
Joel’s upright by the time Grian returns with a small trashbag. Jimmy squints at the trashbag, trying to understand. “Wha’s that for?” he asks after Grian fails to explain, clearly more amused by Jimmy’s sleepy confusion.
“Well if you put something in here, you can keep it dry.” Grian starts, condescending. Jimmy blinks, still catching up. “Gosh, Tim, you really need to sleep.” Grian laughs, breaking character. “Put your laptops in here and then in Tim’s bag.” He instructs Joel. Jimmy just moves away and lets Joel handle things, swaying where he stands.
“Jesus Tim, you big baby,” Grian complains, propping him up a little with his shoulder.
Joel straightens up from where he was rearranging their stuff and hands Jimmy his bag. “Let’s get this show on the road!” He says, clapping his hands together once they’re free.
“Thank you, have a good night!” Grian calls to the Waffle House employees as he none-too-gently herds Jimmy out the door.
“Stay dry!” Wilbur calls after them from where he’s leaned next to the grill, blowing vape smoke up the exhaust.
“Complete dumbasses,” Jimmy hears the cook laugh as the door closes behind them.
He’s immediately soaked, barely three steps out the door and much more awake. The wind has died down considerably, which Jimmy is grateful for. “Lucky it’s not as windy,” he remarks, though he’s practically yelling to be heard over the rainfall and water rushing down the street gutters.
“Lucky?” Joel repeats, indignant.
“Oh yeah, let’s talk about how lucky this weather is!” Grian yells. He’s leading them across the parking lot like he knows where he’s going. Water sluices across their shoes as they push uphill, flooding Jimmy’s sneakers.
“It absolutely could be worse!” Jimmy argues. As if on cue: a distant rumble of thunder.
“Shut it.” Joel says, pointing at Jimmy threateningly. “If we get struck by lighting and miss breakfast, Lizzie’ll kill me.” This is, of course, not the threat he wants it to be and Grian and Jimmy fall over each other with laughter. When they finally straighten up, Joel is ahead of them and they rush—Jimmy slipping and nearly falling—to catch up.
“Do you guys remember that episode of Mythbusters?” Jimmy asks, once he’s caught his footing—and his breath—a bit.
“Which episode?” Joel asks, not kindly. “They made a lot.”
“About running versus walking in the rain?” Grian asks.
“Yeah!” Jimmy exclaims. “You remember the conclusion? I don’t.”
“No,” Grian admits and Joel groans.
“Why’d you bring it up if you don't remember the conclusion?” he asks the sky, throwing his head back.
“I thought Grian might!” Jimmy protests but he’s drowned out by Joel making choking noises. They all stop immediately.
“I just swallowed so much rainwater.” Joel croaks, looking a little red but fine, and Jimmy has to laugh.
“Why would you look up when it’s raining?” Grian admonishes, but he’s rubbing the part of Joel’s back that isn’t covered by his bag.
“I wasn’t thinking.” Joel straightens up and Jimmy doubles over, laughing harder. “C’mon let’s keep moving.” He tugs Jimmy’s arm.
“He’s delirious.” Grian says, pushing Jimmy from behind.
Together, they push-pull Jimmy to the intersection before the campus entrance and, with barely a glance, decide to cross without waiting for the crosswalk light. There’s no traffic anyway and, unsurprisingly, no one else out as they make their way to Jimmy and Joel’s dorm.
They make one last turn and, as if on cue, the rain slows to a steady drizzle. Jimmy, too tired to be mad, tilts his head back to feel the rain across his face.
“This is fucking bullshit.” Joel gripes.
“You’re the one who wanted to leave right then.” Grian points out, his own tiredness removing the usual sharpness of his teasing edge.
“Oh I’m Grian and I can perfectly predict the weather.” Joel says mockingly, never too tired to be insulted.
Grian, of course, has to respond. “Oh, I’m Joel and I’m so worried my girlfriend’s gonna be mad at me I make my friends walk half a mile in the middle of a flood warning.”
Before Joel can reply, Jimmy steps between them and slings an arm over each of their shoulders. “I’m glad you’re here this weekend.” He says. He’s sleepy and a little too earnest and probably putting a little too much weight on his friends but he’s ridiculously happy to have his two best friends with him.
“Gross Tim,” Grian and Joel complain in unison, but neither of them move away.
By the time they’re squelching up the stairs and entering the dorm the rain has stopped completely. Joel and Jimmy’s room is illuminated by moonlight streaming in through the permanently broken blinds. Joel immediately starts spreading his notes out on the air conditioning unit to dry. Jimmy finds a pair of shorts and a t-shirt (that was probably Grian's to begin with) to give Grian to sleep in. He grabs his towel and slimy shower caddy and heads to the hall’s bathrooms.
When he gets back, there’s wet stuff everywhere and the room is starting to smell like wet dog and sweaty boys and old pennies. Whatever, that’s a problem for Monday Jimmy.
Jimmy pulls on the shorts and t-shirt he uses as pajamas and clambers onto his slightly too-tall bed. Grian’s already made himself comfortable and he squints, half-asleep, at Jimmy. “That’s my t-shirt,” he grumbles.
“Shush,” Jimmy replies, nudging Grian to the side so he can fully fit on his own bed. Grian, begrudgingly, accommodates him. Jimmy falls asleep tucked against Grian’s familiar frame, tired and happy and finally dry.

Q: What is a bingo? How many prompts will the cards have? How big will they be?
A: A bingo is a fandom challenge, in which participants are given a card (they can be 3x3, 4x4, 5x5 grids) filled with prompts meant to inspire a person to create more works!
For this particular bingo, our bingo cards will be 5x5, which means you will receive 24 prompts, as well as a free space – which means you can fill it with whatever you wish too, as long as it was not already used for a prompt on your card. These are meant to inspire those to create more works about Obikin (Obi-wan Kenobi x Anakin Skywalker), in either a romantic or platonic nature!
Q: How would I receive my bingo card?
A: Either by Twitter, Tumblr, Email or Discord! You’ll get to pick how you feel most comfortable receiving your bingo card. If by email, it will be emailed to you; If by Twitter, Discord or Tumblr, it will be DM’d to you. A link to the rules and schedule will also be sent a long.
Please be sure that you’ve given the correct full username, so it’s easy for the Mods to send it to you.
Q: What’s the bingo’s schedule going to be?
A:   This is the schedule:
Sign-ups will open August 31, 2022.
Cards will start going out September 5, 2022.
Once you receive your card, you may begin creating and posting when you like!
Sign-ups for this bingo will close October 1, 2023.
This round of our Obikin Bingo will end December 1, 2023.
** This is our first bingo round and to give everyone as much time as possible to work on their cards, so this will be an extended round. Which roughly will give people a little less than a year and a half to work on their cards.
**** Please note though this round is a long one, that does not all mean future rounds will be so as well!
Q: How long should I expect to wait to receive my bingo card?
A: A few days at the very least, with a week at most. If you sign up and have not received your bingo card within eight days, then please send a polite message to inquire about it; chances are the Mods are simply a bit busy with offline life or for some reason your signup did not go through.
Q: How do I ensure I'm getting prompts I want/am comfortable creating for?
A: Great question! To ensure that your card is catered to your exact wants/comfort, you will pick the prompts you want on your board! A master list of the potential prompts for the bingo will be going out shortly before sign ups go live (soon!), so you will have plenty of time to decide which prompts you want for your board!
Which leads us into why there will not be any square changes allowed for this round of our bingo, since you'll already be requesting specific prompts you’ve chosen, and approved of for yourself, for your bingo board.
Q: Where can I find the prompt list?
A: You can find the NSFW list here and the SFW prompt list here!
Q: What counts as a bingo? How can I achieve a bingo?
A: To achieve a bingo, you simply need to meet these requirements:
A line (5x5) that is either vertical, horizontal, or diagonal. Also getting the four corners and free space, will count as a bingo!
Q: What requirements are needed to fill a prompt?
A: Ensuring that your square’s prompt is featured within your creation, and meeting these minimum requirements:
Fic/Meta - 100 word minimum.
Podfic - 1 minute and 30 seconds minimum.
Moodboard/Gifset - 3 images minimum.
Graphics/Edits - 1 image minimum.
Art - size 2x2 inch if physical, 200x200 if digital; clean sketch minimum.
Fanvid - 20 seconds minimum.
Animated Short - 20 frame minimum.
Comic/Visual Novel - 3 panel minimum.
Rec List - 6 recommendations minimum.
Playlist - 6 recommendations minimum.
If you have any more questions, or would like a more in depth answer, please ask away! Would be happy to discuss it with you!
Q: There's a lot of amazing prompts, but is there a way we could send in suggestions for the bingo?
A: Yes! Here is a link to a google form where you can send in suggestions for us to add to our ever growing and expanding list of prompts for our bingo!
Q: What counts as a blackout?
A: Filling every square on your card! You do not need to do this, of course, but could be a fun challenge for you to try and do!
Q: Can we use a fill for another event as well (another bingo for example)?
A: As long as the other event is okay with it, then you can absolutely go ahead! Just make sure you hit our minimum requirements for filling a bingo.
Q: What do we need to do to request a new card?
A: You either need to have two completed bingos or blackout your card completely before asking for a brand new card.
Q: What happens when we’ve hit the two bingos/blacked out our bingo card? How do we get a new one?
A: You simply fill out the form once again, picking the prompts you’d like on your new card and give the Mod a week or so to make you a brand new one!
Q: Can we write our fic’s in a non-narrative format? For example, could we write it as if it’s a magazine article, meta, ship manifestos, a text chain, Instagram/Twitter, etc. posts?
A: Absolutely! Let your creativity soar! All you would need to do is ensure the minimum requirements are being met, otherwise, absolutely go wild with how you’d like to do your fills!
Q: Can I repost an old work/art/creation and have it count for a square/prompt fill?
A: No, all works must be newly created to count towards a fill. If it’s already a completed work/art/edit that you’ve already posted, those will not count. If it’s something you’ve been working on but have posted nowhere till now, that counts.
Q: Can I include other characters in my work? Like in a threesome or something else?
A: As long as the relationship of Anakin and Obi-Wan is integral to the work, yes! Anakin and Obi-Wan should interact with one another or be thinking/talking about the other if one of them happens to be separate from the other for the entire timeline of the work.
Q: Is there a collection I can post my work to?
A: Yes! There is a collection on Ao3, which can be found here, that will be opened to posting once cards are being sent out to those who have signed up for this!
*** Edit: We are aware that there is an issue if you try to add a work to the collection. If you type ‘ oeb_round1‘ into your draft on Ao3, where it asks about adding it to a collection -nothing will drop down- and hit post (only once you’re ready!) your work will be added to the collection!
Q: How exactly does posting work for the bingo?
A: As soon as you receive your card, you can begin posting! It’s whenever you feel you’re ready to share your creation.
Q: I know other bingo events require master posts to be made once the round is done, will you be doing that?
A: No, we won’t be requiring a master post to be done up of all the squares you marked off your board. Though if you do make a master post, we will happily reblog it!
Q: Can my stories be a part of a series that's already published?
A: As long as what you’re adding to an already established series, then yes you are allowed to do that! Also if you are adding to a WIP, just be sure it’s a new chapter and that the prompt is mentioned with the chapter.
Q: Can I make art inspired by a story of mine that's already published if it fits a square prompt?
A: As long as it's a new, unpublished piece of art, then yes that would be okay! Our main objective for this is to create new creations, not reuse ones that are already out in the world.
Q: Are we allowed to combine our bingo prompts?
A: Absolutely! You can combine as many of your prompts as you’d like to but please know only one will count as having been filled for our bingo.
Q: Does my work have to be romantic in nature?
A: No! You can absolutely write about platonic Anakin & Obi-wan.
Q: How can I ensure my fill gets reblogged?
A: You can use the tag #obikinbingo23 or @ the blog here or on Twitter, depending where you post your creations. You can also submit a link on the Discord, DM or @ for Twitter, so we can share your creation!
Q: Where can I sign-up for this?
A: You can sign up here!!!!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to send in an ask on Tumblr, a DM on Twitter or even an email to [email protected]. Or if you're already a part of our Discord Server, you can ask us there as well!
May The Obikin Be With You!

“That, Beatrice, is how I will love you, even as this world goes on its wicked way.”
what is this?
the wicked way exchange is a secret a series of unfortunate events fanwork event, where you create an asoue fanfic or fanart for someone, and someone else makes a fanfic or fanart for you.
when you sign up, you provide a list of prompts you would like to see fanwork made for. then you’re given someone else’s prompts to make a fanwork for them. you only know who you’re making a work for, not who got you or anyone else, so everything is a surprise! all the work and who got who is revealed on posting day.
how long does it run for?
sign-ups: january 25th-february 4th matching: february 5th-10th start: february 11th deadline: march 25th grace period/extensions: march 26th-april 1st post: april 2nd
signups: january 25th - february 4th
you have a little over a week to complete the sign up form! the link will be posted tomorrow, january 25th. take your time filling it out! it will ask what kind of work you’d like to make (what characters you like to create for, your preferences in creating), and what kind of work you’d like to get (your preferences when interacting with fanwork, what prompts you want someone to make work for), so that I can try and match everyone up in a way that you get to make something you’ll enjoy making, and you’ll get something you’ll enjoy. the ideal outcome is that everyone gets a piece of fanwork that is as perfect as possible for them.
assignments are given out by: february 11th
depending on how long it takes me to match everyone up! then you can start working on your fanwork. don’t tell anyone who you got, especially not your recipient! keep it a secret!!
work deadline: march 25th
your fanwork has to be submitted TO THIS TUMBLR by march 25th, so I have confirmation that you’ve completed your work. this is not the posting date! this is the deadline to make sure everyone’s work is completed, and that you’re ready to post your work the following week.
there’s a week between the deadline and the posting date as a little grace period, in case anyone needs an extension to finish their work. feel free to ask for an extension if you need it! no shame at all!! but otherwise, the work should be finished and submitted to me by march 25th.
to submit your work to me, just shoot me a direct message with your work in it – as a file attachment, or a google doc, or anything like that – so I have proof that you have made what you were supposed to and you’re ready to post.
post: april 2nd
we post our fanwork! we rejoice! we celebrate!! we feast on our hard work!!!!! everybody gets a piece of fanwork and we all get to enjoy it!
is there any sort of minimum word count for fanfic, or similar requirement for fanart?
although short fics can be some absolute classics, the fanfic word minimum is 1,000 words. feel free to go over that! but it should be at least 1,000 words.
you CAN do two or more short fics (for the same prompt, or for more than one) that together equal the 1,000 words minimum, if you’re somebody who works better with less words.
for fanart, the minimum requirement is less strict, because art is Art, but definitely more than just a sketch! it does not have to be colored, but it does have to look Finished.
yes! edits are allowed as fanart!! the minimum requirement for edits is two edits. as in, for whichever prompt you pick to do for your recipient, you would make at least two edits.
remember that when you make a work, that you’re making something for someone else, and it has to communicate a story, or a vibe, or a situation, or a feeling, whatever was asked for in the prompt. you do have a certain amount of free reign, in deciding what will best fill the prompt and how to create it! but it should satisfy what the prompt has asked. I don’t say this to stress you out or anything! but as a reminder that you’re making something special for a real person out there, who is expecting something special.
is there anything I can’t request or create?
as usual, to make this event open and comfortable for everyone, you cannot request or create explicit content. also as always, sibling romance and age gaps will not be tolerated.
if something comes up and I have to leave the exchange, is that okay?
yes, absolutely! just PLEASE tell me as soon as possible, so that I can arrange for someone else to have your recipient. send me a message or an ask or an email, there will be no shame or judgment or disappointment from me, just please let me know.
any other questions? shoot me an ask!!

Blog
Decided to blog even without the internet, I've promised to keep some kind of record after never daring to have diaries and destroying old writings. It not only helps to record memories better but is part of the effort to allow myself to be seen and known even though there's a lot I don't talk about
// Mostly physical issues: you can kind of tell from gaps in creating or gaps in the day in general when i've been incapacitated by pain or exhaustion, so say, the lack of dog walks or cooking is a big tell: in 2019 I was doing them regularly. It's not exactly relatable and can be quite frightening to non spoonies and triggering to others so I record health issues and abilities with initials on a notepad instead. Besides my body steals the focus all the time, i'd like other things to get the spotlight for once! //
So here goes:
read more for super long post!
I should note that the soundtrack for the past week has been Seal: Kiss from a Rose non stop, overlapping, out of order, mostly the acapella stuff. You might think that's torture but it's not a bad song to have on loop considering we're entering the Wham, Mariah and xmas schlock season. Shoutout to the ADHD folks with constant snippets of ad jingles, catchphrases and songs -We all know there's worse to have playing in an unclosable background tab. There have been brief interludes of of the sung parts of Freebird because I can't see the word freebox without thinking "and this bird you cannot tame!" or "won't you flyyyyy-yyy freeeebird, yeah".
Monday: I woke up to a double slap in the face. First: the internet wouldn't work and the box said disconnected. Second postal woes. We'll deal with this part first but both happened simultaneously.
Go to find M, she's half asleep with no answers. her phone will have some mobile data and was the main signup contact info.
I wanted this to be a shared responsibility not on my shoulders alone since i'm tech guy but if things go wrong they want to know why they weren't asked about decisions first, i make the tech decisions all the time. So that's why she's main on this new internet lease. as mentioned before i have an ongoing battle with guilt/shame and tend to spiral when something goes wrong like it's my fault (for doing x or not having a backup plan for x). it's irrational but powerful. I have to spend most of the day thinking *away* from things that are under my responsibility but go wrong no matter how busy things get, the thoughts still weedle their way in.
Okay so she has a text from Orange on *friday* saying they noticed the new company had our phone line details and they're cutting us off, one from Free that morning saying your new line is connected and functional so we just need a box to hook up and we'll have internet.
Second: I was asleep when the postman came: my letter with a few bratz clothes to AustrALIA, printed and carefully stamped with tracking stickers was sent to AUSTRIA, send back and fined 10€. There was a bunch of post so M paid up without asking why or what or even looking at the parcel, didn't think to ask for anything. Now I have to find way of contesting the fine or tax or whatever it was (no receipt!), finding out if post to Oz is going to have this issue again and somehow tell the customer. You can not make this kind of incomptence up. but no internet = no answers. Look at this nonsense:
Tumblr media
I spiral for a few hours anyway
I'd really like to do therapy again someday, I need adapted coping mechanisms to redirect thoughts. Going for a walk or body based mindfulness isn't an option.
Watched Colossal (dled in 360px from a streaming site back during the last internet drought). It's a great premise with solid acting, the metaphors are built in and it certainly has you white knuckled for the entirety of the third act but once it was over I found myself wondering if there was a meaning (I don't expect full resolution from stories about addiction or depression, in fact it annoys me if the person is magically better without some serious timeskip and ongoing work). It just sort of gave me 'this story is sort of an indie film and will have a point' vibes and ended up being a thriller, a solid thriller: just not what was expected. Oh wait, did I mention your immersion will be constantly ruined by the fact that Korea is a real place with real people with real lives? and you *will* want to kill the two leads, yes even the heroic one at the end... with no personal ethical problem at all: straight up murder the leads with your bare hands to save people who actually have a working moral compass. I was half hoping they'd have an end scene where there's a reveal and a lynch mob but that would be giving asian people some agency and this movie has no interest in that. Like they chose Seoul !!! of all places, to fill with expendable stupid person-shaped plot drones. Seoul has a quake plan, a nuke plan, a coup plan, a chemical attack plan, all men over 30 have been through military training, people are community minded and organise very effectively. They would leave the town evacuated except for skeleton crews manning the medical areas and military bases within 12 hours. Bet you $10 they have a joke military simulation for kaiju/mechas ready to go. But no they're plot ants going to turn up to be killed by a monster that appears in the same spot at the same hour everyday. What happened to inventing some exotic coded city or country? Why not set the monsters in Dallas or London (trust me, we are not prepared for much)?
My review, like that of Daredevil on netflix (yes that's an old grudge but I expected better) and The Suicide Squad 2020, is two middle fingers up out of ten stars for 'foreign' people as props: immersion ruined, story loses any impact, I don't care about your protagonists anymore, two hours of my time wasted on dreck that needed five minutes of thought instead of relying on a very tired old racist cliché. Who is greenlighting this 1960s B movie bad storytelling trope over and over again?
Does it not occur to them that a significant part of the audience will empathise with the city dwellers or factory workers or have been to a place that is strange and alien but also *people were still very much people*?
To illustrate: in The Boys (aka the series in the terrible tumblr ads) they had this scene of a bad guy being hunted through a block of flats and you're like ok I know this place, we've seen characters live in similar places, I've lived in places like this and the collateral damage the superhero does is horrifying and it tells you that the superhero is worse than any bad guy but then the superhero has this big scene where they say a slur and enjoy killing the bad guy slowly like 'Dun Dun villain alert' when the correct "oh shit" moment was when civilians were getting tossed out of windows. You know what I mean?  You feel like you're being treated like a total idiot by a story when the person did a bad thing then the story has to double down and have them do a whole bunch more bad things- like you didn't get that it was a very bad thing the first time around. Maybe I'm just sick of the comic book, action hero and cop movies that treat death with no weight. I think I'll watch Rachel's wedding Rachel getting married as a palate cleanser when the internet is back where the damage of addiction is given it's proper levity (even though it's going to be painfully cringeworthy).
I would 100% watch a remake or different version of the Colossal concept done smarter. The superhero facing consequences or with side effects makes for some really interesting media, i mean there are some terrible executions of the genre (avengers civil war) but done with even a little bit of thought? that's some delicious brain food right there!

Tuesday: Freebox arrives tomorrow. Thank the universe J's skype medical appointment got moved to friday. Today I'm going to watch Chronicle (2012) to compare and contrast. I wonder if the blonde guy's (DeHaan) voice is an affect to sound like a teen or his real voice? Michael B looking both too old for highschool and also so young. Oh nice: rules as soon as there's a mess. Good guys, I love these dorks. Their home movies are 3 idiots playing slap games, if they were brothers they'd have accidentally killed eachother by now. I'm glad they made both cousins awkward and socially isolated with one making a choice to work on connecting to people because the ND being the one to snap isn't true to life. Oh, wow, here we go... OK that was good. Minimal shaky cam considering the medium. Escalation was handled with clues, clarity and a big trigger event so it wasn't a straight 'power corrupts' storyline. I think Jordan should have been the cousin, he's got the better acting chops, but yeah that was 2012 *cough*Not everybody came out of their Friday Night Lights binge with the right conclusions*cough* (still waiting for a certain actress to get her dues). I don't need answers about the nature of how things work but no anime references? it's 2012 and M.B. Jordan how do you pass up such a golden opportunity? LMAO. The comparison to Akira has probably been done to death and The Craft has better lore on about using powers for good and TWO characters with emotional issues.
I'd rate this a solid 7/10 as a variation on the Akira story. Works well as "What if Peter Parker had a terrible uncle and wasn't whip smart?". A teensy bit on the fence about the atypical coding of blonde dude, I'd be less forgiving if they hadn't made his cousin a bit of a social disaster too. I loved that they connected telekenenis to flying, when characters can move stuff and themselves ... but not themselves from the ground it's a wierd thing for viewers/readers to buy into. The big fight was set at night which had me squinting to see who's where, so that lost it a point.
Finished Lagoonafire and yarn rerooted Gigi while listening to 3 "You are good" (formerly "what are dads") podcasts which has Sarah and Alex from "You're wrong about" talking about movies in a very informal not technical way. This was The Mummy, Guardians of the galaxy 2 and Birds of Prey.
I love them because they can take some seriously awful subject matter and do gallows humour that doesn't feel uncaring, they care a lot and take it seriously but life is tough and it's also ok to laugh about the absurdity of it. You've got a good dose of respect for the complexity of humans, lots of empathy but also they don't leave you feeling dirty, it's more like "here's the knowledge and context people had at the time, here's the knowledge we have now, it's ok to be furious at the injustice and let's keep these things in mind as we move forward because setting the record straight even for your one brain is a small step towards justice and that's a positive even though we just gave you twenty more reasons to hate humanity. Like if this was a twitter thread info dump you'd want to take up drinking right now but we're going to let you digest this with a bit of space gently". I don't know how they pull it off but they do. I thought "you're wrong about" was going to be confrontational or, worse, sensational but it's just debunking and education with a spoonful of sugar. Everything properly sourced and balanced like proper journalists not sloppy true crime/docuseries.
Not sure why I rerooted half of Lagoonafire to stick her hair in a ponytail but she looks amazing with her hair down too:

12 Minute Affiliate System Review: This Is What I Got!
by shivansh bhanwariya
Tumblr media
You just heard about the ‘12 Minute Affiliate System‘ through a YouTube video, blog, or a social media advertisement or post.
Looks both interesting but a bit risky. I know that feeling. I had the same feeling when I got the chance to look at it back in the day.
But, then I also realized that it is run by Devon Brown. If you’re a ClickFunnels user, you might know that this guy has showed up at FHL (Funnel Hacking Live) a couple times.
Still not sure, this is that guy…
Tumblr media
When I got to know that he runs the 12 Minute Affiliate System, I finally decided to try this out. I’ll be sharing everything I liked and didn’t like about the program/system after spending some time figuring stuff out.
I’ll share what it looks like inside to be a member, what is this all about, how user friendly is the training, the set-up, and who is this program for.
Let’s kick things right away and start this ONLY in-depth 12 Minute Affiliate System review without wasting any time.
What is 12 Minute Affiliate System?
So what this actually is?
Is it a training program?
Or a kind of machine that’ll generate you thousands of dollars in minutes?
The truth is, it’s an affiliate marketing training program with actionable and easy steps that beginners can leverage to make money online without having to start a website, YouTube channel or something else.
They provide you everything you need. From training to funnels, from products (that you choose) to traffic, and nifty support.
Since you just have to copy and paste the steps provided (I’ll talk about them in a while), you can probably call it a system.
I’m a member of the program and this is an inside view of the program.
Tumblr media
You get a whole bunch of stuff when you enter this program. But before we talk about that, let me answer some of the big questions.
Does it Really take 12 Minutes to Get Started?
The answer is yes and no. Sure, you can have the funnels, autoresponder, and tracking set up, but that doesn’t mean you’ll starting making money within 12 minutes. It’s going to take a while before you start earning commissions because all you’ll do is affiliate marketing.
Affiliate marketing takes a bit of time, a little work, and some investment to get going in the right direction.
It’s not a ‘get rich quick scheme’ for sure. Also, if you’re looking for something like that, no training or even system will work for you because it simply doesn’t exist.
There’s no shortcuts to success. I would not even recommend you reading this review if you want to make $100,000 within this week.
That’s not how it works.
Can you Earn Four to Five Figures each Month?
Hell yeah! But……
Okay, so what’s the catch?
Well, it’s investment and work. You’ll want to invest a bit into your skills and advertisements to get some quality traffic and coming in and once you have that up and running, you can get a chance to lay in the bed and generate passive cash flow.
Is 12 Minute Affiliate Legit?
I have a simple answer for this question: Yes, It’s Legit for sure!
How Does the System Work?
So, when you’re in the system, there are total 6 steps you need to take to start making the profit or in other words, start your online business model. Let’s go over them one after the other.
Step #1: Create your Affiliate Account in 2 Minutes
This is the first step that you get to meet when you initially login to the system. You want to create/setup an affiliate account first.
Tumblr media
It’s a very easy step to be taken. You create a ClickBank affiliate account so that you can be an affiliate of a product to be able to promote it, make sales, and earn commission off of that.
It’s nothing complicated. You might already have a ClickBank account if you’ve tried selling somebody else’s products as an affiliate.
There are plenty of resources taking you from baby steps to be able to create an affiliate account.
It’s pretty easy and basic.
Step #2: Get an Autoresponder
If you don’t know what an autoresponder is, it’s a tool that allows you to send automated emails to your subscribers without you having to worrying about sitting like a crazy person and sending tons of emails to tons of people.
Tumblr media
The software recommended by the 12 Minute Affiliate System is AWeber. Just be aware that you’ll need to buy the tool yourself. For the first 30 days, it’s going to be free and then it’ll cost $19 per month (for 500 subscribers).
But it will outsource a whole lot of your work. It’s worth paying. Also, according to industry average, you’ll be earning close to $500 per month when you reach that 500 subscriber mark.
Majority of the people earn $1 for an email subscriber per month. You could be earning more as well – depending on the quality of the list and the strategies you use.
We’ve been using AWeber lately and really love the way it works. Nice deliverability, user experience, and overall tracking. It’s not the only best tool but we just live the company so much.
If you don’t want to use AWeber, you’ll be free to integrate an autoresponder of your own. No worries with that.
Step #3: Setup your Autoresponder
In this step, you’ll be loading email swipes to your AWeber or any other email marketing platform. In 12 Minute Affiliate, you’ll be getting 80 email swipes that you can simply upload to your account easily and then you’re up and running.
That’s why they recommend AWeber because it’s going to be easy for you to get this task done in minutes. It’ll be convenient to send emails series.
Tumblr media
You will be able to auto generate emails with your own affiliate links and then have them sent to the subscribers on a daily basis.
Just like – Email #1 – On day 1, Email #2 – On day 2, Email #3 – ON day 3, and so on.
I personally think that sending 80 emails is a bit aggressive.
Step #4: Active your 12 Minute Affiliate Funnels
As shown below, in this step, you’ll be placing your affiliate ID (depending on the niches you choose). These funnels are included within your account and you won’t need a website or a sales funnel software like ClickFunnels.
Tumblr media
You can pick up any (done for you) template shown in the library to promote various products in different niches you chose.
Tumblr media
It’s just a matter of clicks, and I mean it.
If you don’t want to do it by yourself, you can pay to play. They have a Done For You setup that can be helpful if you don’t have much time.
Step #5: Get Traffic
Here, you have two ways to go. One, get traffic by the traditional ways like web forums, SEO, YouTube, and other stuff which takes some time. You’ll get this e-book + training for the traffic.
Tumblr media
Or in the second option, there Done For You Traffic.
Really?
Well, here, you’ll be buying clicks and they’ll setup everything for you. Depending on your industry, it can cost anywhere from $1 per click to $3 per click or more.
Hence, if you pay $100, there’ll be about 100 people coming to your landing page. It’s just an example.
But let me be clear, if 100 people hop on to your page, you won’t be seeing 100 signups to your mailing list.
The average conversion rate will about 25 to 30% (sometimes more or less). That said, if you get 100 people coming in, and you get 30 signups, you can expect one or two sales of the product.
So, if it’s a high ticket product, you can spend $100 and make $500, $600, or even $1,000 back. But if it’s a low ticket product, you’ll barely breaking even.
Affiliate marketing is not magic. It requires work, patience, and investment – just like other business models out there.
So, there are the simple steps the 12 Minute Affiliate System offers. It really doesn’t take much of your time to get started if you’re willing to.
Is there Anything else you Get?
Yes, they also have a section for personal development, which I think is really important for a person to stay positive unless he starts getting/seeing some good results. Business is all about patience regardless it’s an online or an offline business.
Tumblr media
The way you think about your life is super important. Mindset is everything.
If you change the way you look at things, the things around you will change.
Cool, are there Any Upsells?
Yes, there are upsells. But those upsells don’t have to do anything to you when you’re just beginning the journey. You can upgrade your account and get high level coaching once you start generating some decent revene.
That’s why, I don’t talk about upsells in this review.
What About the Money Back Guarantee?
The 12 Minute Affiliate System offers a 60-day money back guarantee so you won’t need to worry about that as well. It’s risk free to join.
My Final Verdict on 12 Minute Affiliate
Overall, the product is super amazing and provides a whole lot of value that it promises. However, I’m not a big fan of a product that does everything for you. Like you don’t earn any skills when you buy these kind of systems.
Sure, it can generate you money. And that’s cool. But I personally think that high income is not that important to lead…rather, a high income skill is something that you should choose.
But hey, everybody’s got different perspective about life. Some want more time. Some want freedom. Some want houses. Some need fame. And the list goes on and on and on.
Finally, I can say that this system is not a cringe or a scam. It’s legit and fits best for beginners trying to make money online.
This was my personal experience after purchasing the system myself to help you out with a better context.
Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

“I started to juggle three apps to make ends meet,” said Okawa, who recently reduced her work hours after receiving unemployment benefits. “It was really hard, because at that time, I could not afford to stay home because I had to pay rent.” Okawa is one of an estimated 1.5 million so-called gig workers who make a living driving people to airports, picking out produce at grocery stores or providing childcare for working parents. Theirs had already been a precarious situation, largely without safeguards such as minimum wage, unemployment insurance, workers compensation and health and safety protections. But with the pandemic pummeling the global economy and U.S. unemployment reaching heights not seen since the Great Depression, gig workers are clamoring for jobs that often pay less while facing stiff competition from a crush of newly unemployed workers also attempting to patch together a livelihood – all while trying to avoid contracting the coronavirus themselves. U.S. unemployment fell to 11.1% in June, a Depression-era level that, while lower than last month, could worsen after a surge in coronavirus cases has led states to close restaurants and bars. Marisa Martin, a law school student in California, turned to Instacart when a state government summer job as paralegal fell through after a hiring freeze. She said she enjoys the flexibility of choosing her own hours but hopes not to have to turn to gig work in the future. The pay is too volatile — with tips varying wildly and work sometimes slow — to be worth the risk of exposure to the virus. “We are not getting paid nearly enough when we’re on the front lines interacting with multiple people daily,” said Martin, 24, who moved in with her parents temporarily to save money. Alexandra Lopez-Djurovic, 26, was a full-time nanny in a New York City suburb when one of the parents she works for lost her job while the other saw his hours cut. “All of a sudden, as much as they want me to stay, they can’t afford to pay me,” she said. Her own hours were reduced to about eight per week. To make up lost wages, Lopez-Djurovic placed an ad offering grocery delivery on a local Facebook group. Overnight, she got 50 responses. Lopez-Djurovic charges $30 an hour and coordinates shopping lists over email, offering perks the app companies don’t such as checking the milk’s expiration date before choosing which size to buy. Still, it doesn’t replace the salary she lost. “One week I might have seven, eight, 10 families I was shopping for,” Lopez-Djurovic said. “I had a week when I had no money. That’s definitely a challenge.” Upwork, a website that connects skilled freelance workers with jobs, has seen a 50% increase in signups by both workers and employers since the pandemic began, including spikes in jobs related to ecommerce and customer service, said Adam Ozimek, chief economist at Upwork. “When you need to make big changes fast, a flexible workforce helps you,” he said. Maya Pinto, a researcher at the National Employment Law Project, said temporary and contract work grew during Great Recession and she expects that many workers will seek such jobs again amid the current crisis. But increased reliance on temporary and contract work will have negative implications on job quality and security because it “is a way of saving costs and shifting risk onto the worker,” Pinto said. It’s difficult to assess the overall picture of the gig economy during the pandemic since some parts are expanding while others are contracting. Grocery delivery giant Instacart, for instance, has brought on 300,000 new contracted shoppers since March, more than doubling its workforce to 500,000. Meanwhile, Uber’s business fell 80% in April compared with last year while Lyft’s tumbled 75% in the same period. For food delivery apps, it’s been a mixed bag. Although they are getting a bump from restaurants offering more takeout options, those gains are being offset by the restaurant industry’s overall decline during the pandemic. Gig workers are also jockeying for those jobs from all fronts. DoorDash launched an initiative to help out-of-work restaurant workers sign up for delivery work. Uber’s food delivery service, Uber Eats, grew 53% in the first quarter and around 200,000 people have signed up for the app per month since March — about 50% more than usual. “Drivers are definitely exploring other options, but the issue is that there’s 20 or 30 million people looking for work right now,” said Harry Campbell, founder of The Rideshare Guy. “Sometimes I joke all you need is a pulse and a car to get approved. But what that means is it’s easy for other people to get approved too, so you have to compete for shifts.” Delivery jobs typically pay less than ride-hailing jobs. Single mom Luz Laguna used to earn about $25 in a half-hour driving passengers to Los Angeles International Airport. When those trips evaporated, Laguna began delivering meals through Uber Eats, working longer hours but making less cash. The base pay is around $6 per delivery, and most people tip around $2, she said. To avoid shelling out more for childcare, she sometimes brings her 3-year-old son along on deliveries. “This is our only way out right now,” Laguna said. “It’s hard managing, but that’s the only job that I can be able to perform as a single mother.” Other drivers find it makes more sense to stay home and collect unemployment — a benefit they and other gig workers hadn’t qualified for before the pandemic. They are also eligible to receive an additional $600 weekly check from the federal government, a benefit that became available to workers who lost their jobs during the pandemic. Taken together, that’s more than what many ride-hailing drivers were making before the pandemic, Campbell said. But that $600 benefit will expire at the end of July, and the $2 trillion government relief package that extended unemployment benefits to gig workers expires at the end of the year. “So many drivers are going to have to sit down and decide, do I want to put myself at risk and my family at risk once I’m not getting the government assistance?” Campbell said. **A/N: **Another shendak oneshot, are you bored yet? ;p (That's not an honest question 'cause I'm not HA). This is a little different than my usual, but also not. I just had fun with it. Although it's technically consensual, I tagged it dubcon due to the nature of the situation. Enjoy!
“I’ll see you later. No, no, I’m looking forward to it. Really, I am! I haven’t been avoiding you all; I’ve just been busy.” He paused. “Uh huh. I’ll see you then, Keith, bye.”
Shiro pressed blindly on the bottom end of his phone screen until the call ended, and then shoved his phone in his pocket.
After a long day of work, he was very tired.
The work itself wasn’t tiring, but monotony of the work was starting to wear on him. Going from being a pilot, to losing his arm and then being benched for over a year after was not how he had expected to spend his youth. At 25, he was one of the youngest successful pilots out there, and he’d expected to do something amazing with his skills. But then he’d crashed, and the rest was history.
Paperwork was not his favorite thing to do, and now that he was grounded, that was all they let him do. On occasion he got to running training drills with younger pilots-in-training, but his days were usually full of emails, calls, and papers to electronically file.
He hadn’t been lying to Keith. He was busy, which meant getting out and seeing his friends—even though they worked at the Garrison—wasn’t easy. He wanted to see them, it was just…
Someone nearly jostled him on their way out the door—the door Shiro was still standing in front of, so he moved out of the way, watching her rush off to her car with vague interest. Her perfume smelled nice: floral, doing little to mask the scent of alpha wafting off her. Shiro’s nostrils flared as he inhaled on instinct, resisting the urge to let his eyes flutter shut.
His heat was about a week away. That was the most interesting thing he would experience for the next month, and if he was lucky, he’d find a nice alpha on one of those apps. Or, like every other heat, he’d look through the options, hate every single one of them, and end up spending it alone.
Sighing, Shiro stepped off the curb and walked towards his car.
He noticed the flyer when he was on his way to pick up groceries.
Shiro didn’t live in the Garrison compound—he might literally go insane if that were the case—and so the nearest grocery store was a few dozen blocks away. He liked to take the long walk if he was just picking up a few things and enjoy some much needed fresh air, particularly after being stuffed in his office all day.
It was when he was passing a streetlamp covered in dozens of posters that the wording on one of them caught his eye.
MATING RUN
Bored? Tired of your daily routine? Spice it up with a mating run!
Shiro snorted out loud once he realized what the poster was advertising.
Mating runs were an archaic form of punishment on omegas hundreds of years ago, when alphas would be let loose in groups to chase after omegas on the cusp of their heats. Once an alpha caught an omega…well.
They didn’t teach it in schools anymore, thank god, but Shiro had stumbled upon the literature in the library at the Garrison when he was eighteen, and for about an afternoon he had been horribly fascinated by the process. It was riddled with consent issues and seemed completely in favor of the alphas, but it had been considered a rite of passage at the time. An honor.
Only now, they were illegal.
How the hell had anyone not been arrested for trying to set this up?
Shiro ripped the flyer off the pole and started reading the text. Upon closer inspection, it became clear that the mating run was only in name only. None of the omegas could be in heat, alphas couldn’t be in rut. Couples were encouraged to take part.
Essentially, it was a kinky run through the forest with a stranger or one’s partner. None of it was real.
Shiro crumpled the flyer and tossed it towards the nearby trashcan, his interest dropping dramatically.
I’ve tried having sex with strangers, Shiro thought, starting walking again. It never works out. And who would want to pretend they’re being chased in an event that’s designed to be entirely against their will?
Shiro didn’t think about the mating run as he picked up the carton of eggs and looked inside for any cracked ones. He didn’t think about the run while he was deciding what meats he wanted at the deli. He didn’t consider taking part while he was in line at check-out, watching a large alpha place his things on the conveyor belt, smelling like he’d just come out of the gym, a tempting mix of body chemicals.
Shiro’s heat was in a week. He hadn’t considered taking on a stranger for when he’d be out of his mind for a few days, but for a brief moment he imagined taking part in the mating run after having invited the alpha along. He was muscular and trim, so Shiro was reasonably certain he worked out. He’d probably catch him quickly; Shiro wouldn’t even have to wait that long.
“Next, please?”
He was ripped free of his thoughts by the cashier, a beta that was staring at him expectantly. The alpha was already gone.
“Sorry,” Shiro said, flushing. He quickly set out putting his things on the conveyer belt, shoving thoughts of the mating run from his mind once and for all.
***
Shiro wasn’t looking for the poster. He was just…concerned that he might have missed the garbage can early on his way to the grocery store. That was why he was looking in and around it, just to make sure that he hadn’t missed it.
When he found it lying on the ground, having been blown into the corner of a building ten feet from the trashcan, the sigh he breathed wasn’t one of relief. No; he was just doing his civic duty to keep the city clean.
If he copied the number written down on the bottom of the flyer, that was no one’s business but his own.
***
“We’re going to need you to sign here, here, and here.”
The woman—an omega—smiled at him brightly, while Shiro considered walking out then and there.
He hadn’t planned on calling the number. He hadn’t planned on going to the building where they were taking signups for their kink group, and he certainly hadn’t planned on signing all the paperwork, but here he was.
“What is all this?” he asked, unable to keep the waver out of his voice. He knew that the woman could probably smell his unease as a fellow omega, but she was kept up her bubbly persona and didn’t attempt to soothe him, as much as she probably wanted to.
“The release forms,” she clarified. “This is just to ensure that if anything happens, we aren’t liable. It’s everything we’ve already spoken about, but I suggest you read through them.”
He nodded and started skimming the text.
The rules were simple, and it wasn’t nearly as spontaneous as the flyer made it seem. Everything about the run was controlled. It was taking place in a forest, just like a real mating run, but they would be on constant watch. There weren’t any drones following them around, but there were cameras along the designated path that everyone would take, and they were required to wear trackers ensuring that if they did somehow end up getting lost, they would easily be found. All the ‘alphas’ were trained and vetted by the organization prior to any events.
Shiro held back a smile when he read that going naked wasn’t a requirement like it would have been in an actual mating run. That was just one of the many clauses. Among them there was the one he’d read about on the poster—confirmation that he would either be on suppressants or his cycle would not line up with the run, ensuring that it was consensual for all parties involved. The omegas—and the alphas, if they so chose—could tap out at any time.
His heat would end just a day before the mating run, so at worst, he would smell like post-heat.
Shiro hesitated with his hand over the signature line, a sense of dread washing over him when he considered what he was about to sign up for.
It was fucked up that he wanted a stranger to pretend to take advantage of him during his heat.
“You don’t have to commit today,” the woman said gently. “Or at all. You can walk out this door right now and your money will be refunded to you in a couple of days.”
He shouldn’t want to do this. He shouldn’t, but—
God, he was so bored. He’d lived his life preparing to be a pilot, and once he’d become one, he’d immediately lost it. He’d never been to war, or seen battle, and the last time he’d done something adventurous was get drunk after he’d graduated.
He signed the paper.
***
Wiping his clammy hands on his athletic shorts, Shiro looked around at the group of omegas giggling and walking around their waiting room, wondering if this had all been one big mistake.
Shiro’s heat hadn’t started on time.
It was supposed to trigger a few days ago, but instead, he’d only felt the signs of pre-heat, barely there and almost indistinguishable from how he normally felt. He was aware that the contract he signed forbid him from taking part in the run during heat, but he wasn’t technically in heat.
It was just pre-heat, which was a lot similar to post heat. He was just a little hornier.
The scent of virile alpha wafted over and Shiro tensed, the muscles in his thighs bunching up.
If he was being honest, Shiro wasn’t quite sure what he’d been expecting in coming here. The group of ‘omegas’ wasn’t just omegas. There were only a few dozen of them, and a good handful were aliens that were probably doing this out of curiosity. The rest were obviously couples. Shiro could tell the other single members because they stood alone, and they didn’t say much.
They had reached the forested area where this would all take place a while ago. Water was being passed around, and all the actual omegas were being inspected for signs of heat. Nothing invasive, but there were a few obvious signs, and they had signed a waiver that said they were willing to be scented.
As the alpha started to make her rounds, scenting each of the omegas, Shiro’s nerves kicked up a notch.
He shouldn’t have come. He was breaking the rules by being near heat, even if it wasn’t the real thing. And while heat didn’t make it impossible to function, his ability to give consent was now in jeopardy. The entire operation could be jeopardized just by him being here.
“Hi there,” the alpha said upon approaching him, smiling a disarmingly beautiful smile. Cathryn, her nametag read. “I’m just going to scent you really quick if that’s all right with you.”
“Yeah, that’s fine.” Shiro turned towards her and exposed his neck, his heart pounding. “I might smell a little—um, like post-heat. I just had it a few days ago.”
The lie slipped out easier than he’d expected. The alpha took his chin in hand and gently pressed her nose against his throat, inhaling a few times. His heart started pounding harder. She sniffed him for much longer than the others, and when she pulled back, she was frowning.
“You had your heat a few days ago?”
Shiro nodded and she let his chin go. Almost immediately he wanted her hands back on him.
“Hm. All right. Then we’re good to go here.” She nodded shortly. “Have fun on the run!”
He watched her go, biting back the urge to ask if she was participating. They had offered to match him with someone so he wouldn’t have to feel overwhelmed by choosing right before the run, but at the time he’d mostly been concerned with getting all the paperwork over with.
“All right, everyone!”
There was an alien that Shiro couldn’t name standing by the exit. He was tapping his fingers on the metal doors, indicating that they were probably going to be opening them soon.
“We’re going to head out in five. Find your partners, and if you’re alone, remember the rules. Anytime you want to tap out, give one of our support crew a call and we’ll come find you. And if we find out that you ignored the requests of your partner—” they grinned, revealing two gigantic and sharp fangs, “—we know where you live.”
There was a murmur among the crowd; excited whispers that transformed into laughter and giggles. Clearly, most of the people there saw this as a fun excursion with their partner and they weren’t taking it very seriously.
Shiro shifted, adjusting the way his shirt laid on his body. He’s chosen his athletic wear, which was light and soft on his skin. He blamed the sensitivity on nerves and adrenaline, heightening his senses and making him feel on edge.
The doors opened, and they started filtering out into the cool air. As soon as he stepped outside, Shiro breathed a relieved sigh. It wasn’t quite winter yet, so it was the perfect temperature for the run, and he could already feel himself itching to move—to get out there and do something.
He breathed in, inhaling a lungful of scents so delectable that his head snapped to where he detected them.
The alphas.
Their guides were explaining the rules again, talking about the alphas and the omegas and their respective roles throughout the run, but Shiro wasn’t paying any attention.
He was busy staring at the alphas sitting in the literal cages that the volunteers had brought. It was barbaric and a little ridiculous, but it was at least offset by the expression on the alpha’s faces, ranging from humor to boredom.
The moment they realized their omegas had arrived, a few of them started whooping and howling in an exaggerated display. A few of the omegas howled back, while others fell into loud laughter.
“Chris!” called one man, waving his hands wildly. He ran over to a dark-skinned man and grabbed his arms through the bars, grinning.
Shiro looked past him, taking in the sight of the other alphas. Most were human, but there were a few aliens in there. Shiro spotted a few galra, of all things: there was a large one, and then another tall and thin. They both looked bored, but the larger one scowled at anyone who walked by, appearing as though he found the entire situation ridiculous. It was odd behavior, considering he was the one being paid to provide a service.
Their scents wafted over, strange and different. Shiro wanted to get a closer look, but then their group was being herded to the other side of the starting line to have the rules explained to them one more time.
This time Shiro managed to pay attention, nodding along while Cathryn spoke.
“Like we’ve said before, even if you requested not to be matched, we ask that you to pick someone,” she said. “It helps to have an idea who you want to catch you, unless you want to be chased by multiple alphas.” She smirked. “Once everyone’s ready, gather back around by the starting line. You don’t need to line up, but just stay in that area.”
She pointed to a long line of rope that stretched across the grass, to their right and just past the furthest cages.
“Does anyone have any questions?”
A few hands went up. People started to drift, going to see their alphas, while a few other milled off to the side, unsure or appearing to consider the alphas that were still up for the choosing.
Shiro’s skin felt like it was buzzing. He managed to tear his eyes away from Cathryn and glanced at the cages, eyes skittering over the many faces. The combination of scents lingering wasn’t helping him any, confusing his nose and his brain.
He brushed the sweat off his forehead, then looked down at his hand.
I’m going into heat, he realized belatedly.
Shiro didn’t feel as bothered as he probably should have been. Mostly because he still felt like himself and would for quite a while yet.
I should leave.
Shiro made no move to do so, merely plucking at the collar of his shirt to get some air flowing and cool down.
It was probably the stupidest and most terrifying decision he’d made to date, but he just couldn’t get the image out of his head—the ones from when he was eighteen, when he had imagined an alpha pinning him down and having their way with him.
This wasn’t the same, because it was consensual, but that only made it better. Even if it was all his choosing, someone he didn’t know would still be chasing after him, maybe even for real.
Besides, it wasn’t like he was mid-heat, so it wouldn’t be like either of them were really out of it.
Shiro’s gaze drifted for some time, but his eyes kept straying to the same person in one of the center cages. It was the big galra from earlier; purple-furred, with large ears, standing probably a few heads or so taller than Shiro. Like most of the alphas, he was only dressed in a pair of athletic pants that did little to hide his muscled thighs and thick calves.
And he was staring. He’d been staring at Shiro for a while now, gazing at him unflinchingly with an intensity that Shiro would have otherwise found unnerving.
Whereas Shiro would normally bristle at the attention, this time he merely cocked his head, meeting the stranger’s gaze with a raised eyebrow.
The galra did not even blink. His nostrils flared, and Shiro abruptly realized why he was staring.
He knows.
His skin prickled, goosebumps raising the hairs on his arms and neck. He shivered. This galra—whoever he was—he looked strong. Really strong. He had scars on his face, and huge claws that looked like they could rip right through him.
Shiro made a soft sound in the back of his throat, wrapping his arms around himself. Inexplicably, he felt cold all of a sudden, and wondered what that fur might feel like pressed against his body, or what his teeth might feel like biting into his jugular, bonding him. Maybe by force.
I want him to catch me.
Shiro’s feet started moving on their own, walking him towards the galra until he was standing directly in front of his cage. He still hadn’t said a word, but he hadn’t looked away from Shiro, not even once.
“Hi,” Shiro said. It came out breathless, so he tried again after clearing his throat. “My name is Shiro. What’s yours?”
The galra narrowed his one good eye at Shiro. This close, his scent invaded Shiro’s nose: it was so much thicker than a human’s, so strong he might describe it as a stench if he hadn’t felt his brain go fuzzy. It was the scent of an alpha. A big, strong, virile alpha.
“Sendak.”
His voice deep, reaching somewhere inside Shiro and holding him there. He felt suspended, and he grabbed onto the bars of the cage to keep himself from feeling like he’d float away.
“It’s nice to meet you, Sendak.” Sendak’s nostrils flared again and he leaned forward, wrapping his palms carefully around the bars above Shiro’s head. The movement was restrained, like he was holding himself back. “Look, I’m going to cut to the chase. No pun intended.”
Sendak said nothing. He waited, fingers curling and uncurling around the bars slowly.
“I’m supposed to choose someone. I’m not choosing you.”
Sendak’s lips curled and the bars shook as he yanked at them with his fists. Shiro’s stomach dropped out from under him.
“And you’ve decided to tell me to earn my ire or make me feel envious of your chosen ‘alpha’,” Sendak sneered. “You waste time, and your efforts are in vain.”
“No, that’s not what I’m doing.” Shiro leaned against the bars, pressing his cheek into the cool metal. His head and heart were pounding, and he was about to make a break for it in the dim lighting of the forest at night, and this galra that he didn’t know was looking at him like he was a piece of meat. He felt reckless and wild. “I’m not choosing anyone. But I’m giving you a head start. If you catch me, I’ll let you spend my heat with me. Have you ever been with an omega in heat?”
Sendak was silent. Shiro could sense his answer would have been negative.
He stepped away from the bars, walking backwards towards the starting line, a smile slowly forming on his face. Sendak leaned forward, his nostrils flaring wide, chest expanding with each breath. Scenting the air; scenting him.
It had been bashed into their head that they—the omegas—would get a four minute head start on the alphas.
“You’ve got five minutes,” Shiro called, raising his hand in a carefree wave.
As the realization dawned on him, Sendak’s contemplative frown grew into a vicious smirk.
Back at the starting line, almost everyone who had chosen was waiting for the event to begin. There were a few that had decided to sit out and watch, but the rest were ready and raring to go. Most of them were still holding in laughter, clinging to each other as the sun finally set, casting the area in a grim darkness.
Shiro felt hot. He wanted to rip every piece of clothing off his body, but while it was allowed, he didn’t feel comfortable doing so. Besides, a few people were giving him wary glances, like they weren’t sure if he was actually going into heat or post-heat. With how similar they could smell to an omega that didn’t have the mating instinct, none of them were aware.
He just hoped the people running this whole thing didn’t notice either. The wind was blowing at his back, sending his scent forward and into the forest, which worked in his advantage. He would be harder to track.
A few more people arrived, and then there was the final demonstration as they explained the rules one more time. There was some minor grumbling from the crowd, but Shiro was hardly paying attention. Excitement and anticipation were building inside him; he had his eyes on a path to the left, between a few trees that would give him some excellent cover.
The voices quieted. Someone to Shiro’s left sneezed before they settled. The air seemed charged with a sudden electricity. Shiro kept shifting on his feet, inching forward, muscles bunched and ready to sprint.
The horn sounded, and Shiro took off like a shot.
He didn’t bother to look behind him to see if the rest of the group had followed him. He ran at full speed, arms pumping, eager to get a head start.
About a dozen yards into his run, his stomach suddenly tightened to the point of pain, flooding his body with a wave of molten heat. He stumbled, and then came to a stop, pressing his hands against his abdomen.
For a moment, he was worried he was going to be sick. He swallowed over and over, throat tight; then the feeling faded, and he became aware of something warm and wet leak out of him, soaking straight through his underwear. Shiro touched the crease of his ass to check; sure enough, it was wet with slick, and when his fingers made contact with his hole, he had to resist pressing in harder.
Fuck, fuck, fuck.
He was already in heat. Not pre-heat, but a full-blown, actual heat. How was he already there?
Shiro lifted his head and sniffed at the air. He hadn’t gone that far yet; he could still hear the voices of the other people from not far off, echoing loudly in the quiet forest. Behind that, he could detect the scents of the alphas from the compound, but only just.
Shiro swallowed against a flood of saliva. He licked his lips, suddenly tempted to head back and—
No. No.
He wasn’t just any omega begging to be fucked and knotted. This was his mating run, and only a worthy alpha would find him and take him.
Shiro looked past the well-lit path and walked to its edge, peering into the part of the forest they weren’t supposed to go in. The sun had set, but it wasn’t pitch-black yet. He had time. He’d be fine.
Shiro’s fingers edged towards his waistband, tugging at the fabric that was lying uncomfortably on his hips.
The voices grew closer. Shiro looked behind himself to make sure the coast was clear, and then ducked under a tree and took off.
With every step that he took, he could tell that his heat was fast approaching its apex. What had started as barely a trickle turned into a gush of fluid that stained his shorts and the backs of his thighs. Moving became more difficult as the itch of need started to prod at his hips, but he kept running, feet pounding at the ground.
Whereas he would normally be exhausted by this point, the start of his heat left him with plenty of energy that had been stored away in preparation. Even though it felt like he’d been running for ages, not once did Shiro stop. He kept going, passing in between trees and jumping over gnarled roots lying in his way. In the distance he could see lights shining from a few buildings. The cabins they were meant to use? Shiro’s had a name and a color, but it was too dark to see.
He slowed to a stop to get a better look, and that was when he heard a sound coming from behind.
Shiro froze, ears perked.
It started out faint, and for a moment Shiro thought it was the sound of a deer running through the forest like the ones he’d passed by. But then it grew closer, and he realized with a start that it was the sound of someone running. Fast.
He glanced behind him for only a split second and caught sight of a something large and distinctly person-shaped.
A hysterical giggle erupted out of Shiro. He sprinted off away from the cabins, peals of panicked laughter escaping his lips. In the second he’d seen him, he hadn’t gotten a good look, but he recognized the build of one of the bigger alphas.
A twig snapped behind Shiro. He nearly tripped on a root when vaulting over it, and that split second of hesitation gave the alpha enough time to get close enough that Shiro could hear his every exhale coming from directly behind. Shiro couldn’t smell him from the front, but he imagined it turning warm and musky with the effort of tracking and chasing him down.
He nearly stumbled again as a bolt of need shot straight through him. His cock was doing its best to get hard, and he could feel fluid dribbling down the back of his knees. The alpha had to be able to smell it. Shiro hoped he could.
He grimaced. Maybe he was closer to heat he thought. Barely a few minutes in, and Shiro was already desperate to be fucked.
That didn’t stop him from running. He kept on going, even as his lungs burned and his breath came out in exhausted huffs. He didn’t stop even as he swore he could feel the alpha’s breath on his back.
He couldn’t make himself stop running for anything less than the alpha catching him. He had to earn it.
Had it been five minutes? Shiro had no idea. He just kept going, until he stepped on a wet patch of leaves and slid forward, arms pinwheeling as he tried to right himself. He extended one of his arms to grab at the nearby tree, but before he could, someone grabbed him by the waist and slammed him into the ground.
Shiro’s vision swam viciously as his cheek met the wet combination of leaves and dirt. The alpha that had captured him quickly sat over the backs of his thighs, trapping him there. They leaned over, their breath hot on his throat.
Whoever they were, they were huge. He couldn’t see anything past their bulk from how he was lying, let alone move. Then they—he, Shiro realized—placed a hand on the back of Shiro’s neck, claws threatening the sensitive skin there.
Shiro wriggled uselessly, testing the bounds of his capture, panting, fighting against instincts that were urging him to spread his legs and part his cheeks so the alpha could plunge right in.
“Submit,” the alpha growled. Shiro recognized his voice. It was Sendak.
Despite Sendak's command, Shiro remained tense, the muscles in his shoulders and legs bunched so tight he was trembling. He stayed like that, breathing in the alpha’s musk, his brain going fuzzier and fuzzier. Slick slid down the inside of his thigh.
Sendak growled again, and this time the sound made Shiro moan in the back of his throat, shivering as a stronger gush of fluid followed.
“Submit,” he repeated, teeth brushing the back of his neck. Shiro was caged in by his body; there was nowhere he could go, even if he’d wanted to.
Shiro didn’t want to. He hadn’t wanted to since the beginning, since he’d taken one single look at Sendak and knew that he was the one he wanted.
Shiro closed his eyes and went limp.
Sendak rumbled a pleased sound and flipped Shiro onto his back, his hands tearing—literally tearing—at his shorts to rid Shiro of them.
He didn’t wait, and he didn’t ask, because he’d earned it.
Shiro was his prize.
He whimpered when Sendak grabbed him by his thighs and thrust him aside, exposing him to the moonlight. It was hard to see in the dark, but the bright yellow glow of his eye was distinguishable enough that Shiro could tell he was examining him, perhaps deciding how he wanted him.
Shiro imagined being turned around on his hands and knees, being used as a fucktoy, a warm body to sate Sendak’s need. Even though technically it was the other way around, that it was Shiro who was awash in sweat and heat.
Instead of reading his mind and fulfilling his fantasies, Sendak stayed where he was and dragged his cock alongside Shiro’s. Rutting. It was nearly double the size of his own, fat drops of precome drooling from the tip.
“God,” Shiro whined, staring at it, suffering at each brush of his big cock. He turned onto his side, dislodging Sendak and shoving him away so he could expose the part of himself that really needed Sendak’s cock. Sendak watched him for a moment, eyes training on the hand Shiro used to lift his leg and reached behind his back, fingers seeking entry at his hole.
The moment they made contact Sendak’s hand shot out to still his progress, the growl that erupted out of him so loud and fierce that Shiro went completely still.
His other hand was at Shiro’s throat again, but it wasn’t threatening. He just…held it there, keeping Shiro pressed into the ground, showing him exactly what he was capable of.
Shiro trembled, itching, aching, and more slick gushed over the backs of his thighs when Sendak’s teeth ghosted over his throat. With no other choice, he Shiro went obligingly limp once again. He felt Sendak’s grin, then saw it when he pulled his head back.
Without uttering another word Sendak freed his hands, using one to angle his cock, and the other to hook Shiro’s leg over his shoulder so he couldn’t dislodge himself, leaving him wide open.
Sendak’s cock was so close, so close. Shiro bit his lip, toes curling, resisting squirming even though it was all he wanted to do.
“C’mon,” he begged. “C’mon, come on, plea—”
Sendak cut him off before he could plead anymore, sliding inside with a wet squelch.
Shiro’s resulting moan was pure, utter relief. He hadn’t realized how badly it had gotten until he finally got what he’d been craving, what he needed. He tossed his head back, biting down on his lip, awash with pleasure as Sendak’s cock filled him all the way and then some.
Sendak’s mouth was back on his throat again, teeth hanging right above the jugular, like he knew it was where humans were most fragile. Shiro moaned as quietly as he could manage, which wasn’t much when he was speared on Sendak’s cock.
Sendak groaned in his ear, low and deeply satisfied, and then he started fucking him, wasting no time in working up to speed.
And he was big. It made Shiro’s head buzz with satisfaction knowing that the alpha that had caught him was as big and strong as he’d hoped. He was vaguely aware of some pain, but that was washed away quickly by the euphoria.
“God, yes,” Shiro breathed, barely aware that he was speaking. Each thrust sent Shiro skidding along the wet undergrowth, punctuated by his pleasured yelps. “Yes, yes, yes yes yes!”
Sendak growled deep in the center of his chest, curling forward, the new angle burying him that much more firmly inside Shiro. He kept fucking him, pulling Shiro down onto his cock, like it was that easy, like he could crush Shiro under his hands, but he was choosing to fuck him instead.
Each powerful thrust sent lightning bolts of heat straight to Shiro’s cock. It felt like he’d come once already. He reached up to curl his hand around Sendak’s shoulders, maybe give himself a little breathing room, but Sendak caught his hand and pinned it to the ground. It wrenched at Shiro’s shoulder—not enough to hurt, but enough that it forced his back against the ground while Sendak was still pistoning in and out of him with no sign of slowing.
Then, in an unexpected move Sendak pulled all the way out, followed by a hot flood of Shiro’s slick.
“Wait—no! No no no!”
Shiro let out a panicked whine. In a heat-induced daze, thoughts too muddled to think properly, he mistook Sendak’s movements as an attempt to pin him down without giving him what he needed, leaving him empty and aching. He jerked his shoulder to try and escape Sendak’s iron grip to no avail.
“Please, keep going, please, please don’t stop—”
Another growl, this one less threatening and more coaxing. It sounded warm in his chest, almost like a purr, and then Sendak pinned both of Shiro’s hands to the ground and nudged his thighs underneath Shiro’s legs, silent encouragement to wrap them around his waist.
Shiro was blind to it. He didn’t understand why Sendak wasn’t fucking him; he was so wet he was dripping, and he wanted to be knotted so badly. Didn’t Sendak want him?
He didn’t realize he was still pleading with Sendak until he pressed his mouth to Shiro’s throat, licking long, hot stripes up the length. He kept doing this, licking at him and rutting against the inside of his thigh until Shiro quieted.
“Calm yourself,” Sendak rumbled. His hand landed on Shiro’s hip, tugging at it. “Release me. I can’t mate you if you won’t let me.”
Shiro frowned, but he followed Sendak’s command, understanding dawning once Sendak fed his cock back inside him now that he had the room to do so. The position urged him even deeper, right at the hot core raveled tight inside him.
“Oh god, I’m—right there.” Shiro broke off as Sendak thrust all the way inside, grinding the base of his knot up into him roughly, and the following cry that came out of Shiro’s mouth was close to a sob. Sendak was so big and so deep inside him, and when he came, Sendak kept him pinned to the ground and didn’t stop fucking him, even when Shiro started screaming.
Whatever Galra cocks were made of, it was driving him nuts. Shiro squirmed, digging his feet into Sendak’s back, and in a powerful display, Sendak shifted into a low crouch, bending Shiro nearly in half to better fuck him.
Shiro’s voice nearly gave out when he came the second time. Sendak threaded their fingers, pressed up against his front, claws digging into the soft earth underneath the back of Shiro’s hands. He nuzzled Shiro’s throat, growling when Shiro’s moans reached new heights. He couldn’t keep quiet for the life of him, and when Sendak knotted him—god.
Shiro had taken a dozen knots in his life, of all varying sizes. But Sendak was on an entirely new level. The first knotting was usually the worst, and this time Shiro was almost certain they were going to send someone eventually to check on the noise. His throat felt raw.
“Such lovely squeals,” Sendak said, rolling his hips to seat the knot in place. Shiro sobbed a little as he lodged it right up against his prostate. "It’s a good thing I found you before someone else encroached upon what was mine.”
In heat, it was hard to focus on anything other than Sendak knot and fucking him. His words registered, but they didn’t really matter. He watched Sendak lift his head and sniff at the air, but his eyes followed the line of his throat, shifting down to stare at the way his pecs flexed in the moonlight.
“C’mon,” he whined, groping at his waist, not sure what he was asking. “C’mon, come on.”
Sendak turned to him and growled again. He raised his hand, and for a wild moment Shiro thought it was headed for his throat. But it landed over his mouth, keeping him quiet.
Shiro’s eyes flickered to the left. He could hear the voices now; Sendak had probably heard them way further off. It should have bothered him that he could hear them, but he was mostly unphased, focused entirely on Sendak, the alien with a big cock and a gorgeous knot that was slowly driving him insane.
Shiro shifted subtly, trying to rock down onto Sendak’s thick knot, but the position made that difficult. He couldn’t get a good angle, and each time he failed he whined a little louder, a little needier.
After a time Sendak swore, moving his hand away from Shiro’s mouth and down to his waist. He hooked his chin over Shiro’s shoulder and brought his hands around his ass, hiking him higher against his chest.
“Grab onto me,” he commanded. Shiro instantly obeyed, wrapping his arms around his shoulders. Sendak braced his feet and then lifted the two of them. “Hold on,” he added, as if Shiro wasn’t clinging desperately. Moments later, the knot slipped out of his body and Sendak burst into motion, taking off towards the cabins.
“Direct me to your cabin,” Sendak declared. It took a few seconds for Shiro to understand what was being said, and by that point Sendak had already started approaching each cabin, searching for his name.
“Thir-third from the end,” Shiro managed. He buried his face in Sendak’s throat, inhaling. God, the scent on the man. “Black name plate.”
Sendak hurried to the cabin, bursting inside like they were being chased. Considering how Shiro hurried him along, pressing open-mouthed kisses and hasty pleas into his fur, he couldn’t blame him.
They made it to the bed in record time. Sendak threw Shiro onto the sheets, using that same incredible strength to shove Shiro into place, spreading his thighs so he could bury himself inside his wet heat.
Had Shiro been of his right mind, he might have been terrified to have a stranger mandhandling him and pinning him down while he fucked him, but by that point, he didn’t care. He didn’t care that Sendak fucked him with a specific kind of ruthlessness that he knew would leave bruises all over his hips and thighs, and he didn’t care that he could feel Sendak’s claws burying themselves into his skin.
Everything about Sendak was alien. The way he looked, the way he acted, the way he fucked—and Shiro loved it. He loved every second. It was like a dream.
By the third time being knotted, Shiro was so deep in heat that when someone knocked on the door, he clung to Sendak’s shoulders and begged him to make them go away.
“Don’t let them take me away,” he pleaded with him. “Please, please, I need you. I need you more than they do. You’re my alpha. They can’t have you.”
“Mine,” Sendak said, as much a claim as it was affirmation of Shiro’s current state of mind. He turned, eyeing the door with distaste, and growled that same low, deep growl that Shiro had heard when he’d first found him.
Submit.
Shiro shuddered, biting down on his knuckles. He felt like a live wire, overheated and constantly on the edge. Sendak’s cock was lodged fully inside him, filling him with his come, and Shiro himself had come half a dozen times already, but it wasn’t enough.
It would never be enough.
Eventually they left, quiet murmurs disappearing. Shiro could finally breathe—though it didn’t last long.
Shiro hadn’t been prepared for a heat. Exhaustion crept up on him quicker than he’d like. It got bad enough that Shiro lost his voice completely, moving on fumes alone, and Sendak forcibly held him down against the bedsheets, laying his hand over Shiro throat each time he tried to beg.
“Please?” he croaked, sounding close to a sob. “Please? I’ll be good, I’ll be so good. Please!”
“You are resting. Then you will eat and drink. And then we bathe. And only then will I fuck you.”
“Fuck me now and I’ll let you mate me.” Shiro tried to wriggle onto his cock, desperate to get out of his hold and fuck himself, but Sendak merely blinked at him placidly. “You know how to mate an omega, right? It’s easy, you just have to bite—”
“I have no interest in marking you,” Sendak interrupted. Shiro’s mouth snapped shut, and heart sank in an instant. Sendak cocked his head, stroking the side of his face with his large hand, and said, “You are already mine.”
“Oh,” Shiro said, quietly elated. Maybe not so much when his heat was over, but for now, that was the best thing he’d heard all night. “Okay. So you’ll fuck me?”
Sendak breathed through his nose. He changed positions, pushing Shiro back against the sheets. It wasn’t obvious what he was trying to do until he nuzzled Shiro’s cock with his mouth and dragged his fingers through the slick still gathering.
“Be still,” he warned, tongue darting out to brush over the tip of his cock. Shiro shuddered.
They fucked long into the morning, long after Shiro was supposed to have checked in. He was filled with come over and over, stuffed so full he worried there’d be no end to it. Sendak didn’t seem bothered by Shiro’s lack of refractory period, and even though he forced him to rest occasionally, refusing to even touch him, Shiro never felt neglected.
He felt sated. He felt good. He never wanted it to end.
****
He felt like shit.
The end of Shiro’s heat was always marked by a splitting headache, and this time was no exception.
A full day after he’d started his heat, Shiro woke up and felt like himself for the first time. At first, he lied in bed, staring at the ceiling, trying not to look directly at the big purple alien lying beside him, but eventually his bladder won out and he slipped out of bed. Or rather, he tried to.
Crumpled may have been a better descriptor; thanks to Sendak, Shiro’s body was covered in bruises, scratches, and scars. When he attempted to walk to the bathroom, he had to pause and hold onto the edge of the bed while his legs screamed at him in protest.
God, everything hurt.
“Jesus Christ,” he hissed, planting one hand along his hip. In the heat of the moment it hadn’t bothered him, but maybe he should have warned Sendak to be more careful of his frail human skin.
He glanced over at the body lying still in bed. Even curled on his side, Sendak appeared gigantic. Shiro swallowed, thinking about the teeth against his throat.
This had to be one of the stupidest things he’d ever done in his entire life. Once he spoke to those in charge, he was probably going to receive a serious reprimand. If he wasn’t immediately given the boot for endangering everyone involved.
After using the bathroom, Shiro took stock of his surroundings. Observing the cabin had been the last thing on his mind when he’d been in heat, but upon inspection, there wasn’t anything too impressive about it. Other than a bathroom and a small kitchen, it was unremarkable.
“Where are my clothes?” Shiro wondered aloud, realizing a moment later that Sendak had ripped them off his body. Right.
He glanced at Sendak again. As far as he was aware, he was still sleeping. Did the people here provide a change of clothing? How often were they supposed to check in on couples? The more Shiro thought about it, the more he realized he’d hardly paid attention to anything that had truly been important. He didn’t even know what time they were supposed to return.
Shiro’s phone buzzed on the end table. He wasn’t aware Sendak had retrieved it for him.
“Hey…uh, Sendak?” he tried, surprised when Sendak rolled over and met his eyes. “Um. Did I—did you get my phone for me?”
“While you slept,” Sendak confirmed. “You left it where I caught you.”
“Oh. Wow. Thanks.” Shiro shuffled over to the left, towards the doorway, then back to the right when he remembered he wasn’t wearing anything clothing. He stopped, because he didn’t know what he was supposed to do with himself. He was in the post-heat state, fragile and still seeking comfort from his alpha.
With no other options, Shiro turned away from Sendak and went back into the bathroom. The space was small, a far-cry from the one Shiro had to himself at the Garrison. He stared at himself in the mirror, grimacing at the sight of hickeys and bitemarks all along his neck and throat. A good number of them were concentrated where Shiro could have been marked. Could being the operative word.
Sendak hadn’t marked him. The revelation was as relieving as it was disappointing.
A hand that wasn’t his own slipped over his shoulder, near the base of his throat.
Shiro watched Sendak shuffle in behind him, his size made even more extreme in the tiny space. He didn’t bother to ask permission as he bent down and peppered Shiro’s throat with kisses, paying special attention to where Shiro’s gaze had lied.
“You begged me to mark you,” he said into his skin. His hands landed on Shiro’s hips. “You begged me to make you mine. You did not understand when I explained how it works for the galra.”
“I remember something like that.” Shiro laid his hand over Sendak’s, trying not to blush as he worked his way over his shoulder. “I think. How does it work again?”
Sendak met his eyes in the mirror. Inexplicably, he smirked, and then shuffled past him to use the bathroom.
Shiro never did get an answer out of him. Not long after, there came a knock at their door and they were preoccupied with the situation Shiro had gotten them into.
The only reason that they’d been left alone was apparently because of Sendak. He explained that he had deterred anyone from entering by claiming he went into rut, and that it had triggered a latent heat in Shiro. It was flimsy as far as excuses went, but Shiro was grateful he didn’t have to try and explain what he was doing in heat when he had explicitly denied it from the beginning.
“Why are you helping me?” Shiro asked while he gathered his things, including the clothes provided for him. It was a simple black tank and a pair of shorts. They didn’t feel great on his post-heat skin, but he didn’t have much of a choice.
“I have no reason not to help you,” Sendak replied, which wasn’t much of an answer at all. Shiro watched him get dressed, turning away only when he made a phone call and began speaking in a language Shiro didn’t understand.
They barely spoke as they gathered themselves and then met up at the facility. Shiro was examined and questioned to ensure that he was alright, but he assured them that he had enjoyed his time with Sendak, and that it was entirely consensual.
“I realized I was going into heat and decided to do it even after I figured it out. Sendak’s a nice guy.”
He didn’t actually know that, and based on the way he was limping around, he wasn’t sure anyone bought it. But because he didn’t seem outwardly stressed, they let them go without further questioning.
All Shiro knew was that for the galra, mating was different. No bite-marks were involved. At least not the kind Shiro was thinking of.
Had he been mated? Shiro wasn’t sure he was ready to know that answer, so he didn’t ask. Instead, he stood by Sendak while he waited for his ride to show up (he’d called in a favor with Hunk), and Sendak watched over him.
“Will you be all right going home on your own?” Sendak asked. His expression didn’t change, the but inflection in his voice suggested he did care. Shiro felt a little better thinking about it like that.
“Yeah, I’ll be fine. Thanks for looking out for me. I know I didn’t exactly…ask.”
Sendak scoffed. “I understood the rules, and I also understand how you yearned to break them. You are a fascinating individual for it.”
Shiro rubbed his forearm, oddly uneasy at Sendak’s assessment of him.
“Well,” he said, spotting Hunk’s car turning the corner. “I’ll see you later, I guess? Do you have a phone number I can reach?”
“I will find you,” Sendak promised him. Shiro blinked.
“What—”
“Hey,” Hunk interrupted, rolling down his window. “Shiro! You ready, buddy?”
“Hunk, hi! Yeah, I’m ready.” He glanced back at Sendak, noting the way his eyes followed him on his way to the passenger side door. “Thanks again, Sendak.” He paused with the door still open and offered an awkward wave. “Have a good one.”
Have a good one? Really?
Shiro wanted to wince. Instead, he slid into the car, mentally beating himself for giving Sendak such a terrible goodbye. Thankfully, Sendak didn’t seem bothered; if anything, the smirk on his face told Shiro that he was amused. And maybe he’d see him again if Sendak’s words weren’t all talk. Whatever they meant.
Smiling, Shiro turned his gaze out the window.
“So who was that guy?" Hunk asked, eyeing him. "And why do you smell like you drank his bathwater?”
Shiro’s smile turned into an embarrassed grin. Fascinating indeed.

Chapter 2
Chapter Text
This is Hogwarts. News and gossip travels fast.
“Did you hear?” Harry hears, as he walks down to the great hall for breakfast. “Weasley - Ron, that one - he’s been…”
“Can’t believe she’d do that, I mean - Well, they’re…”
“Can’t have been Hermione - I mean, come on, who’d do…”
“I can believe it,” Harry hears, and he stops before he turns the corner because he recognises that voice.
“Well, of course, you can,” He hears - Terry Boot, Harry thinks - in response.
“Yeah, Mari’s right. Granger can be very vengeful.”
“Harry was there.” Harry hears, and he winces because it’s Cho, and she sounds sort of… shocked, maybe. Disbelieving and disappointed.
“You were right to be worried, then,” The other voice - not Terrance or Cho or Marrietta, says. “If he’ll ditch you for her and won’t even protect Ron bloody Weasley from her ire… well, that doesn’t bode well, does it?”
“That’s not…” Cho sighs. “It’s more complicated than that.”
“I bet he knew about the whole 'sneak’ thing too,” The voice carries on. “Come on. It was his defence group, right? he called the shots.”
“I don’t think so,” Cho says. “… I mean. Permanent scarring? Harry? Really?”
There’s silence, for a moment. Harry, automatically, flattens his fringe down over his scar.
“… Alright, yeah, probably not,” Harry’s starting to recognise the voice, a bit. He thinks he’s a DA member, but he’s not quite sure; Harry led the lessons, but he didn’t exactly interact with everyone an equal amount, that just wouldn’t have been possible. He’d focused on those that needed his help the most (and… well, and Cho) and so some of the other members, the ones that did really well, he hadn’t actually spoken to, aside from the occasional encouragement or praise. Thinking a bit more, Harry realises he probably isn’t. He does recognise the voice, though; not DA, but definitely someone he’s heard around the castle.
“So then she did it behind his back,” Marrietta says. “Y'know, I’m starting to see who calls the shots here.”
“You didn’t think it was Granger in the first place?” Terry asks.
“Why would I?” Marrietta asks. “Harry’s - Harry Potter. And he’s a leader; he did really well with the DA, so…"
"He left our date because Hermione organised something for him without asking,” Cho sighs. “And the spell on the signup parchment was her’s.”
“And now she’s attacked Ron Weasley, who I might remind you was, in fourth year, the thing Harry Potter would miss most, so I’m just going to hazard a guess that that's changed.”
“No kidding.” Terrance snorts.
“I don’t think so,” Cho says. “I mean, we never really got to know each other as well as I’d have liked,” She admits, and Harry feels a pang of - something - “But… he’s not one for conflict. Not - danger, just… people. He doesn’t like it much when they fight, and that’s just common knowledge.”
“You should see his face when they get really heated,” The fourth voice says. “In the common room. Especially last year - got a little better after a point, not sure what was the deciding factor, but he didn’t blow up at them as often, and not for them arguing. Uh, but as I was saying - before that? Yikes.”
“He was hurt,” Cho says, quietly. She sniffs, and Harry thinks she might start crying. “He just showed it differently than, say, I did.”
“Crying’s better than yelling at people,” Terry says. “Let it out, get help, yadda yadda.”
“If you think Harry Potter is well adjusted you haven’t been paying attention the last five years,” The fourth voice - male, Gryffindor, Harry knows who he is he just can’t quite put his finger on it - says.
“We don’t all have the advantage of being in the same house as him, mate,” Terry says.
“Cho dated him.”
“For a few weeks, really,” Cho says. “We had one date.”
“Shame,” Marrietta says. “Pretty sure he really liked you.”
“I was too,” Cho says.
“He likes Granger more,” Terry says. “And Weasley, but that’s redundant, you knew that.”
“I knew that about both of them,” Cho says. “I just thought we could… get to know each other better. Become proper friends while we dated, you know?”
Harry winces, again.
“Here’s a thought,” The fourth voice says, “And you’re not going to like it - but maybe you shouldn't have kissed under the mistletoe in front of a picture of Cedric, yeah?”
Cho laughs, wetly.
Harry hears a smack and a yelp. “Hey,” The fourth one complains.
“Try to be tactful, please,” Marrietta replies.
“No, he’s… probably right,” Cho says. “We were both really torn up about it… I don’t know. We have quidditch and - and Cedric and the DA in common, and that’s -”
“Not the worst but not a good foundation,” Terry says. “Mostly the Cedric part, I’ll have to admit.”
Cho sniffles. Harry hears Marietta sigh.
“I thought we could help each other,” Cho says. “Work through everything together, you know?” She’s definitely crying, now, and Harry feels horrible; hearing this, listening in on their conversation. But he’s stuck leaning against this wall because today he chose to take a long way around to the Great Hall, and… and it’s a bit like a trainwreck. Looking away is hard; stopping eavesdropping when people are talking about you is difficult.
“He’s an idiot, but we knew that,” Terry says.
“Terry,” Cho admonishes. “He’s just…”
“Not well adjusted,” The fourth voice says.
There’s another silence, and Harry takes the moment to quietly walk back to the beginning of the corridor, and then walks towards the corner louder, signalling his approach.
“- and I guess -” Harry rounds the corner.
“ - Harry,” Cho cuts herself off, interrupts what she was about to say to acknowledge him.
“… Cho,” Harry says, belatedly, even though he’d expected to see her here.
Ritchie Coote (who’s voice Harry really should have recognised; what with him being a beater on the team this year, but then, Harry might have been a bit too distracted to put two and two together properly), Terrance Boot, Marrietta Edgecombe, and Cho Chang all stare back at him, as awkwardly as he looks at them.
“Harry,” Marietta says, cooly. Harry attempts not to wince too visibly.
“What’re you doing, Potter?” Terry Boot asks. Harry points down the corridor. “Great Hall,” He says.
“Bit of a treck from here,” Ritchie says, amicably.
“Thought I’d take the scenic route,” Harry says. “It’s a Sunday, don’t have much to do, so…”
“It’s good exercise,” Cho says, “How - how have you been?”
“Alright,” Harry says. “Uh, you?”
“C'mon, Terry,” Ritchie mumbles. “See you later, captain,” He adds, and he drags Terrance off down the corridor and around the corner.
“I’m better,” Cho smiles, a little, her voice still a little thick from crying. “Mum got enough money together to hire a therapist.”
“That’s good,” Harry says.
“He’s helped a lot,” Cho says. “Just being able to talk about everything. He’s a squib, too, so he knows about all this,” She gestures, generally - indicating magic, “So I don’t have to watch what I say,” Cho smiles again.
Cho cries a lot, but so does Hermione. Neither of them are weak people, and Harry’s glad, for Cho, that’s she’s found something that helps her.
“Great,” Harry replies.
“Eloquent,” Marietta says, tone still cool. Harry can’t fault her, exactly; sneak is still written across her face, and that won’t ever go away. “Can I ask you something?” Marrietta asks.
“What?” Harry responds, warily.
“There’s a lot of rumours,” Marietta says. “The Vanes are good for that, as are a lot of people - but the usual suspects - Lavender Brown, Parvati Patil - they’re silent. Which is interesting, because it means they’re involved, somehow, and I know you are, so why not go to the source?” She asks, rhetorically. “So. My question; what really happened?”
“When?” Harry asks. “At the end of first year, second year, what happened in third year, after the tournament, or fifth year; do you want to know about what happened after we left the school - how about this year? I’ve got some stuff already.”
“Don’t be dense, Potter,” Marietta says. “Last night. What happened?”
Harry hesitates.
“Come on,” Marietta wheedles.
“No,” Harry says, “No, that’s not your story to know.”
“Then who’s is it?” Marietta asks.
“Hermione’s,” Harry says. “Ron’s. Lavender’s, I guess. Mine, a bit.”
“If you say so,” Marietta says. “Fine, alright. Tell me something else. Something most people don’t know.”
“Why?” Harry asks.
“Payment,” She says. “For my face.”
“It’s not my fault," Harry says. "I didn’t know,” He continues. “I signed that parchment too, you know. Hermione never told us.”
“Hmm.” Marietta hums. “I figured, to be fair, but still. Hermione won’t pay up - she hates me, still, remember?”
Harry does. He also, distinctly, remembers that Hermione would do it again in heartbeat.
“Fine,” Harry says. “Sure. What?”
“Oh, whatever you think is best,” She smiles. Her eyebrows raise, a little, and that stretches the scarring. “Or are you worried you’ll get in trouble?”
“We got in trouble,” Harry says. “Then we got out of it.”
“True,” Marietta allows. “Okay. Go on, then.”
“Alright,” Harry sighs. “Alright, well…” Harry thinks of something he can tell her, something small and harmless. “Myrtle was murdered by the basilisk, the first time the chamber was opened. She saw who was controlling it - his name was Tom Riddle.”
“Tom Riddle?” Marietta asks. Harry shrugs. “He’s in the trophy room, or at least, he was, Dumbledore might have removed his trophy since then - but basically, he’s the Heir of Slytherin. He was controlling a student, through a possession of his he’d left behind. His name was Tom Marvolo Riddle - there’s an anagram.”
“An anagram?” Marietta asks.
“Yeah,” Harry said. “When I was in the chamber his ghost - he wrote out his name in the air and rearranged it.”
“Oh, that spell,” Marietta nods. “Let me try.”
She takes out her wand, glances down the hallway each direction in case Mrs Norris is hanging around, and then, after saying the words, starts writing out Tom Marvolo Riddle in the air. “Alright,” She says, once done, and rearranges them. Then again, because that was definitely not it, if hilarious, and then again, and again, and finally…
“Oh, Merlin,” Cho says, staring.
“Well, that can’t be a coincidence, can it?” Marietta says. “Hmm.”
“He’s Voldemort,” Harry says. “Tom Riddle is Voldemort.”
“That’s not nothing,” Marietta says. “I expected like, a little anecdote, not… a huge revelation.”
Harry shrugs. “It’s an anecdote, really.” He says. “It doesn’t matter who he was, much. It helps to know, sure, because it’s why he did a lot of what he did, but…” Harry shrugs again.
“Useful to know, definitely,” Marietta says. “Thanks, Harry.”
Harry shrugs again.
“See you around,” Cho smiles, links arms with Marietta, and walks off.
Harry watches them (her; Cho) go, and then walks in the other direction, towards the Great Hall.

Update!
Hey guys, your friendly mod here with some updates. I’ll be answering a bunch of anons all at once, so hold on to your horses!
1. Yes, prompt claims have started! I believe I am currently around 8-9.
2. We have had 19 authors (including myself!) sign up! So exciting!
3. Yes, I am participating as well. To keep things fair, I am bringing in my own prompt as to not affect prompt claims :)
4. Yes, as some have noticed, author sign-ups are still open. This is because I had a few people reach out and ask for them to stay open longer, so people could get their commitments in line before deciding if they were good to sign up. Y’all, this is the first fest I’ve ever hosted! I realized that a week for all sign-ups and prompt submissions was not realistic. My goal is to just do what’s best for everyone here.
5. On the topic of prompt submissions - I have closed prompt submissions as of 12:30 am EST, and they will re-open for Round Two on a later date! However, some amazing prompts were submitted over the last few days, as I forgot to end submissions, and it would be so unfair to not let these prompts be put out for you guys. I’ll be confirming that everyone wants the prompts they have, and then continuing down the list. Please give me patience - I still expect all prompts to be distributed by the end of the week, as everyone has been wonderful and responding in a timely manner. Authors, check your preferred mode of contact for more info.
6. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out, but do so in a respectful way. I am so honored to be the mod of this fest, but please realize that 1. I have a life and a job outside of this festival 2. I have multiple other time commitments (such as my own works for other fests, etc) 3. like said above, I am still new! and willing to do whatever to make this successful! So whatever you have to say, say it respectfully. I’m willing to put in work and do the most to make this fest successful, but I won’t tolerate any more rude anon messages. if you’re going to be rude about it, you’re more than welcome to not participate. let’s respect each other as basic humans, okay? cool.
sorry for this long-ass post. there was a lot to go over! but above all of this, I hope you are all as excited about this festival as I am! looking ahead, after all prompt claims are completed, you can look forward to author spotlights, beta and britpicker signups, and first check-ins! thanks for coming along for the ride!

72. Race Against Hate 5K
After my last post, I
a) decided to jump in for a 5K some of my teammates were doing this weekend and
b) came down with another massive gross cold. EXCUSE ME I thought working from home 60-80% of the time meant I would be magically immune to germs? Ugh so I hacked and coughed all the rest of the week, but decided to roll up and get over my race nervousness.
That went better than I expected! We lucked out with a cold-ish foggy day instead of a humid nightmare and at first, I felt uncomfortable but determined to hang in there and see what happened. I took just 2 walk breaks, one ~ halfway and another right after a water stop after something went down the wrong pipe. I positive split this like whoa, but achieved my goal of proving to myself that I can show up, do okay and if I’m not showing continuous improvement I won’t get thrown off the course.
This is a community 5K, a basic out and back with a small-town feel you just don’t get in Chicago races. It took me A While to get there (early morning weekend trains being notoriously flaky) but I was prepared and actually went to bed at a decent hour. I have just 2 constructive suggestions: Assign more volunteers to bag check (it was, as the kids say, slow AF) and do more troubleshooting of the signup system because I talked to multiple people who were entered in either the wrong race or as the wrong gender. (They were able to run, but something weird is going on there.)
Had brunch with the team in town, came home, power napped, called my dad and saw Hannah Gadsby. What a Sunday.

06/03/2018 Update
So here we are, on the last official day of UraIchi Week 2018! Honestly, when I first came up with this event, I thought we’d be lucky to get ten works total. After a week, there is now 60+ new works for the UraIchi fandom =D
So thank you so much for everyone who contributed! This event definitely wouldn’t have been this successful without you guys pitching in. I hope you’ve also had a good time enjoying the fanworks yourselves, and to those who have left comments and kudos, I’m sure all our writers and artists appreciate it ^_^
For the event itself, as it - sadly XD - comes to a close, here’s a few last housekeeping items to take note of:
1) The AO3 Collection for UraIchi Week 2018 will be kept open an extra week until June 10th so if you didn’t have time to post during the official time of the event, you still have time to get it in.
2) Uraichi Discord will be available all year round, and there’s a decent amount of people chatting or lurking at all hours of the day so drop by if you’re interested!
3) For any gung-ho UraIchi fans, I will be tossing up a mini-event for July 15th (Ichigo’s birthday!) on June 30th. It will consist of 4-5 prompts, and if you decide to participate, you’ll be expected to pick one (or more) prompt and submit a completed work for it, minimum word count at 500 words if you’re writing a fanfic. It’s just for fun, no mandatory signup or anything, but discussion about doing something for Ichigo’s b-day came up over on Discord and I decided on this.
That’s it for now! Thank you again for participating in UraIchi Week 2018, and hopefully just as many people will be interested next year!

january 31st, 2022
my new chair arrived today. it’s fine. i couldn’t figure out how to get every screw in the back to fit so it’s going without one. probably also fine. my apartment is a mess after unpacking. my plan was to clean every monday and on the first monday of every month do a bigger clean, but this monday was one day off from february, and the sun was going down when i’d finished setting up the chair which would have made dusting harder. yes these ARE good reasons to put it off
i had to call o2 to get my phone dispatched, then they gave me an update saying it would be arriving on the 28th on january. bit optimistic. definitely expecting to not get it soon because the courier it’s with is one i literally always have trouble with
i stupidgambled a bit today, because of my stupid. i’m fully on the reload stuff now and very few of them are ever low-risk booo boring. i somehow have over £1k in the bank still though. i made around £1100 total in january from sports and casino stuff which is probably the best i’ll ever do since most of that was signup offers
i really need to stop challenging myself to go shopping without a shopping list. i somehow forgot to buy a duvet cover the first time when it was the only thing i planned on buying aside from food. but i’ve put it on now and it’s whatever. it’s like, super creased and crinkled on purpose which doesn’t look or feel good so i don’t really understand why. was surprised how light it is after sleeping under a weighted blanket the past few weeks. i was planning on throwing the weighted blanket away because it sucks then i realized i can put it on TOP of the duvet and it rules
oh i guess i should post these every month to keep record since i’m always deleting/changing them. still figuring them out. oh i’m now seeing a few crosses that shouldn’t be there because i went a few days without logging. i keep deciding “no i don’t need these to keep track” then going back to it. you can check them off retroactively but i guess i just forget what i did on certain todays. whatever i‘ll try to be better with it this month

RED Update #1: Restart Energy Expanding on All Fronts
New Post has been published on http://restartenergy.info/red-update-1-restart-energy-expanding-on-all-fronts/
RED Update #1: Restart Energy Expanding on All Fronts
Tumblr media
Welcome to Restart Energy’s first article that deals with updates on everything we’ve been working on since the end of our public sale.
This article aims to solve the gap in our communication and show you all the fancy things we’ve been working on.
Of course, you will get more articles like this one in the future. How often? We’re still deciding, but there will be at least one per month, although it’s not guaranteed that there will be as many updates every time.
Let’s get into it.
RED-TRS: Token Renting System
Last week, you were introduced to our new TRS system, which adds more functionality to the MWAT token.
I am not going to bore you with the details, our Chief Editor (Rouă Denis) wrote a brilliant piece on it. You can read it here.
Global Expansion
Fueled by an increasing demand for RED franchises, Restart Energy decided to advance its expansion into several key international energy markets — entering ahead of schedule in decentralized markets planned for 2019 and beyond. Here’s how we’re doing so far:
#1. ‘Restart Energy DOO’ is a registered company in Serbia and has already received its license to supply electricity, Nr.312–90 to be precise. Retail to end consumers is expected to begin in Q3–2018.
#2. Restart Energy opened a subsidiary in Singapore on Feb 6th, 2018. The company has already started the process of obtaining electricity and gas supply licenses in the State of Singapore. The newly created entity will act as a hub for Restart Energy operations in South-East Asia, with a focus on high-growth emerging markets and a rapidly increasing demand for decentralized energy solutions like Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand.
#3. On Feb 26th, Restart Energy officially registered it’s UK subsidiary under the name ‘Restart Energy One UK’, having the company identification number 11224104. The process of obtaining a dual fuel (electricity and gas) supply license has already been initiated and together with a controlled market entry procedure, will take between 8 and 12 months to complete. Operations will include the supply of electricity and natural gas to domestic and non-domestic customers.
#4. Restart Energy is in advanced negotiations for the acquisition of an established Bulgarian energy company. The agreement is scheduled to be signed in March and retail operations to end consumers are scheduled to begin in Q3–2018. Cross-border operations in Greece and Turkey will be managed by Restart Energy Bulgaria.
#5. Restart Energy has started a due diligence process for the acquisition of established energy supply companies in Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, andAustria. The process is scheduled to be completed in Q3–2018.
#6. Restart Energy has employed reputable law offices for registering and licensing subsidiaries in Germany and Spain as licensed energy suppliers. The new subsidiaries will be registered in March and the licensing process is expected to be complete in Q3 and Q4–2018.
RED Platform Update
#1. The first public part (Alpha version) of the RED platform will be the Signup/Login systems based on the MWAT token. This system will allow a verification of ownership for MWAT tokens and as such is crucial for the entire RED ecosystem.
#2. Along with the above release we will present the tokenized voting system, based on the actual MWAT tokens held. If the testing phase goes well, it should be live by the end of the month.
#3. We are actively testing several solutions for bringing some of the principles of blockchain into energy, such as transparency, security, and reliability. To achieve this, we are going to employ a hybrid approach — on one hand, the main database will be kept in a classical cloud-based database. A second database, running on top of the first one, using blockchain technology, will be used to expose the relevant data for the public — such as transactions history — and will act like a shadow to the first one.
The team is trialing three types of blockchain technologies to achieve this with the help of our four new blockchain devs, that joined our Bucharest team in the last few weeks. More details about this will be revealed during our internal testing phase.
RED Franchise Update
Not so much an update, but rather us bragging about how many applications we’ve received from people all over the world for opening an energy supply franchise.
We’ve had over 200 applications, out of which 30 were for type A franchises, that each cover an entire country.
Another interesting fact that we’ve figured you’d like to know, is that the top three countries from which we’ve received applications are: the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia.
Right now, this is all we can share, but we’ll update you the moment we’ve got more news on this subject.
Restart Energy is taking on new franchise applications. You can apply for a RED franchise here: RED Franchise Request Form.
Update on The Number of Customers
In the first two months of 2018, Restart Energy managed to bring another 5,000+ customers onboard. These new customers are only from Romania — we should be able to grow at a much higher pace once we expand to multiple countries around Europe and the rest of the world, as stated in the “Global Expansion” section of this article.
Update on Our Financial Situation for 2017
Restart Energy has ended the 2017 fiscal year with approximately 20 million USD in revenues, with very small variations possible due to exchange rate differences between EUR/USD. This both confirms our revenue projections and affirms a solid 425% net growth based on our company’s Romanian operations alone.
The 2017 financial statements containing detailed numbers will be published at the latest on May 31st, 2018.
New PR Director — Mihai Herman
As stated above, Restart Energy listened to your feedback and has already taken action, by starting a collaboration with a new PR Director.
In case you didn’t notice, this article is written by said PR Director, so I’ll introduce myself below.
Tumblr media
At heart, I am an entrepreneur — started my first online business when I was 19 years old. In the past eight years, I’ve ran several businesses & blogs, including being an SEO & marketing consultant, a fashion blogger and a business coach.
I am a big believer in authenticity and transparency when it comes to delivering a message or building a brand, which are the main values that I aim on cultivating here at Restart Energy — and it’s going to be pretty easy because the fundamentals on which this company was built are exactly those.
PR wise, I was able to collaborate with some of the biggest names in the men’s fashion industry, as well as attend New York Fashion Week, Pitti Uomo in Florence and WebSummit in Dublin.
You can find me on Twitter & Telegram @mihaiherman.

Website Makeover
An update to our website is due, so we’re passively working on a new design and feel, that we believe will appeal to a more B2B audience.
This is an important step, as the more professional a website looks, the more applications we will receive from respectable business people, and as such, the faster we’ll be able to expand. In this regard, of special importance is our Franchise page.
As the saying goes, ‘first impressions matter most’. The timing of the redesign is also near-perfect, since we’re preparing ourselves for the publicity that the company will receive in the coming months through our marketing & PR efforts.
Speaking of…
Updates on Our Marketing & PR Progress
Now, let me show you what we’re working on in terms of gaining awareness for our awesome project.
Besides what’s mentioned below, we’re also working on a few secret projects and on bringing you exciting contests in the coming months.
#1. We hired two reputable PR agencies to help Restart Energy get the publicity it deserves. Currently, we’re working on getting story ideas and finding angles to deliver the news in a way that reporters can’t help but say yes.
Starting next week, however, the first releases should be sent and hopefully we’ll have the first media appearances soon. The strategy was thought so we tackle the energy and blockchain industry at the same time.
Of course, we’ll share each and every one of them with you.
#2. Restart Energy is actively discussing collaboration terms with some Youtube bloggers that should help us gain more awareness in the crypto space.
#3. These are all the articles and videos talking about our project and the $MWAT token from the past two-three weeks. We’ve shared most of them with the community, but I am sure some of you missed them and will appreciate the list.

Look-What-We’ve-Found-on-Twitter Section
We do our best to reply to every tweet from our valuable community, but you can all agree that it’s humanly impossible to cover everything all the time.
However, we do check every now and then to see what are people tweeting using the $MWAT tag and we’ve found these tweets that made all of us at Restart Energy smile.
Special thanks to all of you who took the time out of their busy lives to share an article and/or mention MWAT to a Twitter crypto influencer.
That’s all folks! Truly hope you’ve enjoyed this article and feel free to give us suggestions in the Telegram Group regarding this update.

Top 10 Ways to Make Money with Crowd1 Business
Tumblr media
Sure, you can make money with crowd1 online business. There are many ways that you can use to build your network and making money in crowd1 home business. Making an income in crowd1 will require you to make a strong network by building strong down lines.
1.    Build Your Network. Building your network is the surefire way of making a huge income in crowd1. You build your network by inviting other people to join your team. Crowd1 offers a very lucrative yet simple compensation plan. This guarantees anyone can, even when working half as hard, make immense wealth. The Entrepreneurship package sales bonus is simply a binary bonus that pays you every time you introduce a new member that ends up buying an education package. When you recruit a new member, you will place him or her on either right or left of your binary matrix. You need to sell at least 2 packages and place each new member on right or left of the binary to unlock your earnings. Each package bought allocates you certain amount of business points which you accumulate to earn an income. 10 business points equal to 1 euro. So if you sell 2 white packages which come with 90 business points. That totals to 180BP which is equal to 18 euro. 2 Black packages pays you 54 euro while 2 gold packages pay you a total of 144 euro and so on and on.
 2.    Sell Product for Commissions. Crowd1 is a marketing company for 3rd party digital marketing companies. Crowd1 provides its members with mobile apps from these companies to market and make sales commissions from them. When you become a member, crowd1 will give you an opportunity to market any of its 9 products currently. You will need to register for each of these digital products to get an affiliate link and be able to market it. When you market each of these products you can get commission up to 15% of the profits. Crowd1 list of marketing products currently include Lifetrnds, safer, Affilgo, Miggster, Tribute, Crowd1 magazine, Grithub, Miggster premium, Epic lotto among others to be launched soon.
 3.    Earn Residual Long Term Monthly Income. Crowd 1 also earns money directly its product sales. The company marks up all its products so that when a digital product is sold, part of that money goes back to the company to be redistributed back to the members. The monthly residual income is paid every month on the 15th and is deducted from sales volumes of the previous month. Crowd1 has paid monthly residual income since 15th of May 2020 and continues to pay. Residual income is the biggest payment that is expected to make changes in member’s lives as it replaces their salaries and incomes from other businesses. Monthly residual income payouts have been increasing every month and its expected that the earnings will keep on increasing as the company products range increase and the membership keeps on growing. Residual income represents 40% of all monies earned by crowd1 from sales of mobile applications. It is expected that as new products are launched the residual income for a coordinator 1 star will be anywhere from 100 euro and above per month. This is very possible in the short term.
 4.    Claim your Crowd1 Rewards. As the first network marketing company to do this, crowd1 pays its members weekly crowd1 rewards for all members that join the company globally. This means your stake in the company increases as more and more people join crowd1 and not by your direct efforts. This is called the stream line bonus which pays you crowd1 rewards every Wednesday of each week. You have to claim these crowd1 rewards every week. The crowd1 rewards are similar to internal shares in crowd1. These crowd1 rewards are used to calculate your dividends every 3 months and are therefore very important to claim. The more crowd1 rewards you have accumulated over the months, the more residual income you are paid every quarter.
 5.    Earn Your Fear Of Loss Bonus. This bonus is meant to help you recoup your investment money which you paid to join crowd1. The fear of loss bonus tells you that if you are able to introduce 4 people to join you in crowd1 in the first 2 weeks, you will make euro 125. If you introduce 4 people with a black package, you will earn 375 euro. If you introduce 4 members with a gold package, you will make 1,005 euro in 2 weeks. If you introduce 4 people who join with a titanium package, then you will get to keep 3,150 euro. This bonus is time limited for the first 14 days only. If the 14 days elapse before you qualify, then the bonus is time barred and you continue with your business. Missing to hit the fear of loss bonus does not affect your crowd1 business whatsoever.
 6.    Rank up the Network Levels. If you want to make the serious money in crowd1, you need to build your network day and night and rank up. Crowd 1 has 7 main levels each with 3 stars levels. These are team leader, coordinator, manager, director, president, senior president and ambassador. So in total, there are 21 steps to rank up the leadership levels. When crowd 1 earns money from sale of digital apps, this money is distributed equally among the 21 leadership levels. This means that the people in each of the 21 leadership levels get to share the money equally. It follow then team leader lever which is the first will have many people sharing the same cake as ambassadors, that shows that the piece of cake each member gets at that level will be small as compared to the fewer directors or presidents cake. This is the reason that you should strive to build your network fast, earn points and use those points to rank up very fast towards manager level. You will start making very good money when you reach the manager level.
 7.    Build Leaders in your Network. One of the best ways to ensure you grow and earn good money in crowd1 is to ensure other people below you are making money. The only way you can do that is to help them to create their own networks and start earning. You need to show them the business and ensure they duplicate on how to empower others below them .It is when everyone wins when you yourself will win. The best way I have found to do this is the help each and every member below you to meet their fear of loss bonus as fast as possible. This way they will have money in their accounts and see the business is viable. This also motivates them to keep building and supporting those below them to make money.
 8.    Advertise your Business. The most effective way to earn in crowd1 and grow fast is to ensure you have fresh prospects daily. This means that you need to advertise your business so that you get to meet new people to present the business daily. There are many free and paid ways to advertise your business both online and off-line. For example you can use Facebook network marketing groups to advertise your business and get prospects. Another way is to use paid Facebook adverts, these work very well in contacting people from anywhere in the world. I have used these adverts on Facebook to create teams in 8 countries in less than 1 month. Another way to advertise your business is to post adverts on Google ads. These are expensive but they bring you a lot of traffic and conversions. You can also use fliers and pamphlets and ad-posts on advertising boards in supermarkets and other places.
 9.    Organise one on one business presentations. One-on-one business presentations are easy to plan and you can call someone today and meet them tomorrow for a business meeting. If you make it a habit of meeting at least 2 people daily to explain your business, you will start to grow your business. Doing one-on-one meetings will keep you productive throughout the week. They also convert better since you will give the client all your attention and they are able to ask their questions and get answers there and then. Make a habit to do as many as 4 or 5 one-on-one presentations daily and your business will take off vertically.
10.Arrange for seminars. Seminars can be small numbers or large hall type of seminars. They require more time to plan and can be costly to hire the hall, equipment and possibly drink. Seminars can be arranged for as few as 10 people all the way to hundreds of people. Seminars are the best and most effective method to present the business and recruit en masse. You and your small team may decide to start small by inviting 10 people and do the business presentation and then grow out from there. Make sure to prepare banners and registration forms where participants can fill in their names and contacts. These will be very important in follow ups to increase signup rates.
