Say the words ‘Arson’ ‘Crime’ or ‘Manslaughter’, and you practically summon her. (Every SMP she has been on, has in-fact seen not only her enemy’s but HER OWN, Builds being blown up and/or burnt to the ground AT LEAST, 3 times.) shes also know for her ADORABLE builds (shame half of them end in ash..), her parkour skills.. and uh.. being complete garbage at anything pvp.

Well twitter being twitter, a lot of sexist 12 year old boys, and Andrew tate fans like to be.. REALLY creepy and all ‘perfect house wife’ about her. (You get the gist no more detail needed.) While they may not know it(they ignore it/pretend its fake), she’s actually quite strong in real life, often picking up her friends in irl streams and running away with them as a bit (with consent ofc)! But in minecraft, that doesn’t really show.. so naturally being the absolute fucking queen she is, about a year ‘n a half ago, she decided she was gonna be fucking great at pvp. Naturally not telling anyone but techno (so he could teach her, duh) and avoiding all pvp for a year, lead to people joking about it more often.. this didn’t bother her, it was actually perfect, she had been getting better. Like really. Danm. Better. Practicing even without techno and on an alt, and at this point? It felt natural to be disappointed at a 25 win streak.. she went from 0 to about 30-40 average win streaks.. in a year and a half.. she was dedicated, okay? Her fans did notice her getting a little rusty at parkour but they just assumed she had been to busy to practice as much.. they were right but not about what she was busy doing.. So, she obviously invited the sbi, and a few other friends (Tubbo, Ranboo and Dream.) to play a custom pvp themed game, with the stream titled ‘I haven’t pvp-ed in a year and a half, and now I’m doing it again.’ where they were split into two rounds, (y/n and techno being in both but the rest in one) all in hardcore and spawned on opposite sides of the map, having 30 minutes to gear up, before pvp was turned on, and no going to the end, no other rules than one hour to be the last one standing, they could team, they could camp, they could use tnt minecrarts, they could go to the nether, anything. it was all game.

only two people expected her to crush almost everyone. I’m not even sure if those two people were expecting her to come second one round, and WIN the other.. but with her getting half the kills in round one and losing to techno in a final battle where she held her fucking ground like a boss ass mother fucker, and winning after techno killed Dream and she ambushed him after using a god apple..

lets just say after a couple things trending, a lot of fanart and A LOT of sapphic women going crazy, nobody dared to question her dedication to proving she was a fucking force to be reckoned with again.

You were pretty happy with who you were. A badass woman who just so happened to be the epitome of flower power? Hell yeah.

Fairy lights twinkle in the background of your setup, a wall full of vines and LED signs providing extra ambience. That’s not to mention the special keyboard—resin flower keycaps, they were on sale okay—alongside your setup in general. Even your mic had cute animal stickers on it. Well, except for the one Tommy gave you of his face? It was weird.

Right now, though, you aren’t at your cute setup. No matter how much you loved it, you were at least aware that you couldn’t send every waking moment at it. You weren’t quite that much of a content machine.

So of course you go outside to film vlogs with Tommy! Totally reasonable break from filming content: film more content!

Jokes aside, you loved hanging out with your friends. Getting dressed up just for Tommy to inevitably ruin it was practically your good luck ritual. The sheer number of skirts, shawls, and even socks he owes you is astronomical.

Today he had promised nothing messy (for once), so you took your chance. Pale blue corset embroidered with flowers and a flowy white skirt, you were practically screaming your aesthetic to anyone who looked at you. And Ranboo had given you a dandelion for your hair, which only added to it.

”Tall fuckers to the back for the photo!” Tommy shouts, and the poor bystander he roped into taking the photo stares. “Which obviously means me—“

“Get your short ass back in front.” You order, snagging his shoulders and forcing him in front of you. From your side, Ranboo snickers.

“Welcome to the club, king.” Tubbo tells Tommy before grinning at the camera.

“What the fuck.” He grumbles. “She’s hardly any taller than me!”

“Keep lying to yourself.” You put your elbow on his head, just to add insult to injury.

“Um, I got the photo I think.” The stranger says, holding Tommy’s phone out to him. He takes it without even looking at the photos.

“Thanks.” He says after you clear your throat pointedly to prompt him.

Seeing their chance to escape, the person just nods and hurries off without a single glance back. Probably glad to be rid of your wayward group of streamers and YouTubers.

“It’s a decent photo.” Tommy begrudgingly admits.

“It’s my cue to leave, actually. I’ve got plans.” Tubbo says, checking his phone.

“Why do you get more bitches than me?” Tommy whines.

“…it’s my mother.”

“And we all know I get the most bitches.” You jump in, high-fiving Ranboo blindly. You nearly hit his face, but that’s okay. It would’ve been funny.

“Oh shut the fuck up.” Tommy elbows you, all gangly limbs and pointy bones. “We’re playing Minecraft later, right?”

“Not me.” Tubbo reminds him.

“No shit. I was talking to these two idiots.”

“Hey!”

“I’ll be on.” You lean over him, looking at his phone for the time. “You’re aware we need to leave if we want to make your stupid fucking steam time?”

He looks down, eyes widening. “Oh shit!”

Just for making you run home, you blow up his house on Minecraft. For the fourth time. It was ugly looking anyway, nothing like your adorable mushroom house, so he was practically begging for it to be exploded.

It’s his fault. Always.

Your hands freeze on your keyboard mid-movement, making your character in game also freeze at Techno’s words.

“Not anymore?” You laugh nervously.

“Right answer. Try this again and I’ll pretend like I don’t see you.”

PvP training was going great, and by that you mean you’ve been killed every single time by one swing of his axe. It was no secret that you were bad at fighting. Your go-to tactic was to load up on TnT and hope for the best, which met… many criticisms.

And you were sick and tired of it. It’s time to reinstate your badass reputation and become a ruthless killer in a video game. Innocent bedwars players would never know what hit them! Hopefully, at least. Right now, you’re still working on that.

“Fuck!” You exclaim as Techno kills you yet again, the respawn screen flashing up.

Slowly, so fucking slowly, you watch your bedwars win streak increase. Slowly, you watch your skywars win streak increase.

Somehow, against literally all odds, you’re learning how to girlboss PvP. Although when you told Techno that he seemed mildly confused, but you were definitely girlbossing PvP.

Which was exactly why you knew this stream was a good idea.

After a year and a half, you were hosting a huge stream with a bunch of your friends competing in a PvP tournament. Tommy insisted on there being a prize, so whoever wins gets the highly esteemed Tesco’s gift card you’ve had in your desk for five months. A battle of true honor, of epic consequences.

“Alright guys, so here’s my plan.” You tell your stream, mining some wood to craft basic tools. Everyone has 30 minutes to gear up, then it’s an hour till the winner is crowned. With the map having a small border, you’re counting on some cheeky kills from sneaking up on others. “I mine first, stock up on iron. Make a diamond axe if I can, but mostly go for lava buckets and backup gear.”

Your plan is put into motion quickly. With the new iron veins, it’s incredibly easy for you to get geared up within fifteen minutes. Venturing back up to the surface for food, you spot Tubbo without any armor killing sheep.

Perfect.

Sneaking to hide your name tag, you venture up a tree to get closer to him. You added a proximity mod, so you can hear him talking to his stream.

“We need lots of food, chat. All these guys— these guys don’t know the importance of food!” He’s saying. It’s a smart plan; if only you weren’t planning on killing him and taking his food.

“Hi Tubbo!” You shout, dropping down and killing him with a few swipes of your axe. “One down, just a few more to go!”

As people die left and right—most dying to you, to everyone’s surprise—you pointedly avoid Technoblade. The student will never surpass the master, after all. All your tricks came from his playbook and you really didn’t want to see how competitive he’d get for a gift card he’d never even use.

Dream was slain by Technoblade

Your eyes widen in surprise at the chat message, quickly stretching your fingers to press tab and bring up the list of players left alive. Only yours and Techno’s show.

“Oh no.” You breathe, freezing. “Oh God, chat. I have to murder Technoblade. I have to disassemble his organs and destroy his aorta.”

Suddenly, you’re paranoid as all hell. Randomly going into F5 as you kill cows, checking every angle.

“The student thinks she can challenge the master?” Techno asks, and you shriek in surprise as he digs up from below you.

“I fucking knew you’d say that! You predictable pig!”

“But you didn’t know where I was going to come from.” He points out. You know him well enough to detect the faint line of amusement in the words.

You groan, eating a steak. “Let’s dance, Technoblade.”

“Let’s die, actually.”

He comes at you with an axe, immediately disabling your shield. In retaliation, you swap to a fishing rod to lure him back in when he tried to run off.

As the two of you fight, you find yourself getting closer to your monitor, keeping your mouth shut as you concentrate. Fingers flying across the keys, you scroll to your lava bucket and attempt to burn him. By some miracle, he manages to avoid it and get a hit in on you.

“Oh my God.” You breathe at seeing how many hearts it takes. “Is that fucking enchanted?”

“Is yours not? Get good, nerd.”

You jump past him, placing a quick block to act as a barrier as you smack him with your own axe. Diamond, so it should make up for the difference in strength of his enchanted iron axe.

He loops around a tree, but you momentarily lose track of him. “Where the fuck—?”

As you notice your hearts depleting, you whirl around. Instead of doing the smart thing a retreating, you jump forward and crit him out. If he were any other player (cough cough, Tommy), he’d run. But he’s Technoblade. And all he does is crit you in return, killing you.

“Fuck.” You groan, leaning back in the chair.

<Technoblade> If you wish to defeat me train for another 100 years

Rolling your eyes at the chat message, all you can do is wait for the server to be reset with a new map and everyone living again.

You do the same tactic again, gearing up as quick as possible. It seems like other people have stolen your idea, but go about it in different ways based on the achievements. In the chat, you watch as Ranboo gets the achievement for entering the nether and then Tommy gets it right after.

“I will gift twenty subs if one of them isn’t dead within… five minutes.” You wager to your chat, laughing slightly. They’re still busy freaking out that you placed second last round, making you smile. “Guys, what’s wrong? You didn’t think I’d get kills? What am I known for if not manslaughter?”

A few minutes later—just under five minutes, might you note—Ranboo’s death message pops up. And then so does Tommy’s. Ranboo was killed by Tommy, but apparently Tommy burned to death? You can definitely picture his dumb ass walking into fire.

“Well… looks like I’m aiming for Phil.” You sigh. “I’d feel too bad to kill Tubbo again. But I’m not fucking with Dream or Techno— losing fights and all that.”

You start mining up to the surface, digging through some deep slate you had gone through. “Wait, is this wood?” You ask, scrolling to your axe to mine through the oak planks. You mine directly through a mineshaft, gasping in surprise. “Oh!”

There’s a chest in a minecart right in front of you, so you open it, hoping for some cheeky diamonds. You’ll even take wheat; food is food.

“Oh my God!” You shriek, probably bursting more than a few eardrums. “A god apple— oh my god! We’re fucking winning this one, guys! Cower at my name! But first we’re getting out of here before a spider kills me.”

You run around for a few minutes before stumbling into Dream and promptly running the other way directly into Phil’s house. Why he was building a house on a PvP server? You’ll never know.

“Oh, hi mate, what’re you doing?” He asks, hands empty of any weapons. You scroll onto your flint and steel silently. “Listen. We can talk about this. You don’t need to do this.”

“It’s too late, Philza Minecraft.” You answer, lighting some of the logs on fire. “Should’ve made it out of stone!”

Turning, you light the ground under him on fire then scroll over to your axe. He’s not expecting it, and although he gets a hit in with his empty fists, you still kill him.

“Just Techno and Dream left now.” You note. “Let’s just… hope they battle it out.”

To keep yourself occupied as you wait for the last five minutes before the borders shrink, you start setting cows on fire and collecting flowers. Poppies and dandelions fill your inventory, your little good luck charms.

“Alright guys. Someone go sneak into Techno’s chat and snitch on what’s happening for me.” You laugh, shaking your head. “Kidding, kidding. Don’t do that.”

Just as the one-minute warning pops up I no chat, Techno’s death message does. You gasp loudly, before grinning. “It’s my time to shine! I’ll avenge Techno!”

The world border starts to shrink behind you, but you’re already on the move. Knowing Dream, he’ll probably be in the center of the map. If you can catch him while he’s looting Techno’s body, you have no chance of losing.

“Stop saying good luck chat, I don’t need any good luck.” You grin, spotting Dream’s name tag. “I’ve got skill.”

Before you throw yourself at him, you eat your enchanted golden apple. If you trade blows, you’ll end up winning with the extra health. And two hearts is all you need.

“Ohhhh Dream!” You shout, catching him with a swing of your axe as you jump past him.

“AHH— what the fuck? Where did you come from?” He runs after you, making you do awkward jumping around to avoid his fishing rod.

“Stop! Stop that, I can’t— Dream!”

“Are you regenerating? Did you go to the nether?” He asks, and you can’t help but smile.

Because God apples don’t just give you extra hearts; they give you regeneration.

“I did one better.”

You hit him with your axe again, trading blows with him just like you thought you might.

“You’ve got to be low, how low are you?” He asks, hitting you again, but it’s too late. His body explodes on his death, his items flying out everywhere. You throw your chair back, jumping up and shouting.

“SUCK MY FUCKING DICK HATERS! I’M THE NEW PVP GODDESS AROUND HERE!”

brief disclaimer here, this is about build, so skip it if you find it uncomfortable

i waited a little bit before dumping whatever my brain is coming up with because yesterday was overall a hard day (real life shit happened) and i was not ready to face the eventual hate i could get for, you know, having opinions.

so, let’s start from the fact that i am not a perfect person, i do have flaws and for the same reason i do not expect perfection from anyone, neither from my close circle of friends/family nor from the people i happen to follow online.

that’s why what has been coming out in the last months - and yesterday specifically - is closure enough for me. i can’t even fathom how people can look at this whole situation and pick good and bad guys when it’s kinda obvious that they were in a relationship which turned to be pretty toxic and ended up in fire. what’s also true is that the allegations against build were indeed fake, (both the ones coming from netizens on twitter and the ones coming from poi) therefore he got his life ruined on the base of accusations that were never backed up from any evidence and were actually supported by fabricated pictures and blatant lies (making threads is not my thing, but this story is all over twitter if you’re interested) there’s also the fact that when push came to shove, he decided to take the whole thing on the legal route, while she decided that harassing him, his family (the whole thing against build’s sister was disgusting) and his fans was the right thing to do.

i’m not saying anybody should support him or turn into his fan, because i understand that we are all different and we perceive things differently, but refusing to acknowledge that in the beginning - and i put myself in there too - we were all blinded by prejudice and that the situation is now much clearer is hypocritical. I also believe that what happened to him is unfair and he deserves some sort of reparation for having his life ruined considering that things are clearly not going back to what they were before.

You do not need to be a build’s fan to see that poi lied from the beginning to the end and that as imperfect as build is, he was the one to be slandered and potentially abused. I mean, voice on the street (not confirmed from any parties, but you know, info like to leak) is that she will have to pay him a whole lot of money for this mess, which to me does not sound at all like settling, but rather admitting to a fault and deciding to pay up instead of facing more gruesome consequences.

I would also like to point out how the whole kp and bl fandoms are very much filled with double standards considering what’s been happening in the last week (and i’m not referring only to the whole gmmtv situation), but on the other hand i have hope that maybe people are starting to realize how dumb cancel culture (or fandom life the way it’s turning to be) is.

I hope Build can somehow get what he lost back and i hope he’s taking care of his mental health and, more than everything, i wish he’ll learn something from this experience. Just to be clear: this is a build-friendly blog. I won’t pretend i know him as a person, but i know him as an actor and artist and you know, 10 minutes of his acting left me gaping for a year now, so I will support any kind of project he may have in the future (i know chances of 4M happening are low but a girl can dream).

To conclude, please, do not send hate to people if you don’t like them, do not spread lies for clout, but practice kindness. There’s nothing to lose in that.

I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, I’m a relatively new shipper (started playing this year, and other Yeehan shippers directed me to your work), but I’ve seen some of your tweets and in many of them you seem to have more negative things to say about how they make you feel than positive. So I was curious to know your stance on them, and why you keep writing for them. (If this is too invasive, you don’t have to reply)

Also, I really enjoyed Ricochet. It sold the ship to me, basically (but now I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing)..

First off, I'm really glad you liked Ricochet! It's one of the fics I'm still really proud of, and I'm currently in a project with fanartist @showerwhoops and a friend who makes fandom light novels to make it printable with lots of gorgeous art. I mean, mostly I just love collabs and wanna support G's light novel-making hobby, but hopefully other people will find that exciting to know.

With regard to Yeehan, lol, I'm struggling to figure out how to answer this, especially without context for which tweets in particular. The simple answer is yeah, I'm a Yeehan shipper. I love them. I've said it before, but I basically trauma-bonded to them and can't let go. But also I love the themes of redemption and the various forms that can take, and people finding love not when they're young and fresh-faced but when they're jaded and have been through some shit, and seeing two people fight not only to make the world better but to make themselves better people together. I love all of that. It's delicious. I also love writing them as dumb himbos because why the heck not.

I've been in this fandom since 2018. I've written 70+ fics just for Yeehan (plus a few dozen others for the rest of Overwatch), and I'm still writing it. Of my last three art commissions, one was Hanzo and one was Yeehan. I started Yeehan Fic Rec Friday (@yeehanfrf) to help new people find good Yeehan recs sourced from the community, not just one person, and to lift up my fellow writers. All of this is on my twitter, and that's not even getting into all the fan events I've participated in, etc., before this year. So yeah, I'd say I'm a fan, lol.

Unless you're mistaking my shitposting and lovingly mocking the characters for meanness, maybe the negativity you're seeing is when I'm being critical of the fandom itself? In which case... you know, I'm going to take this as an opportunity. And it's gonna get kind of long, so let's go behind a cut.

I can only reiterate that I've been here since 2018. I've seen so much shit, and while some of it has come from "outsiders" (other shippers, people who are sick of Overwatch, etc.), plenty of it has come from my fellow Yeehans too. And while most of my frustration with the Yeehan fandom is on the level of, you know, family that you love but would like to shake some sense into, that doesn't change that it can be frustrating.

Here, an assuredly incomplete list of all the things I've experienced from other Yeehan fans:

I've seen people harassed outright for drawing/writing the "wrong" character bottoming. I've seen literally dozens of nonbinary and transmasc people misgendered and harassed for being "fujoshi" "fetishizinig mlm," because nothing says great justice like blending transphobia and misogyny to attack real people over fictional characters. I've been here for at least 10 different rounds of witch hunts for various fandom "crimes" like people shipping characters with a bad-idea-in-real-life age gap or power imbalance, or even just shipping the same character with multiple people.

I was here when Cassidy's animated short dropped and it took less than an hour to see hate posts about Ashe. And I was also here when fandom retconned the tale of those events to claim Yeehan fans only hate her because some of her fans are shitty, and it can't possibly under any circumstances be misogyny ever. (Which is not saying that some of her fans aren't shitty. It's just that some Yeehan fans are also shitty and in denial about it.)

I've been outright harassed for talking about fandom misogyny, no matter how kitten gentle and "Let's Have a Teaching Moment" I've been about it. I've been harassed for pointing out fandom racism. I've seen a friend get ostracized and harassed much worse for pointing out the same fandom racism and misogyny. And this is, of course, on top of actually seeing and reading racist portrayals of Hanzo and occasionally Cassidy, and seeing and reading constant misogyny (mostly over Ashe, but not exclusive to her) to remind me that men get to have greater interiority and receive more sympathy and get their flaws smoothed over in ways women never do, in fiction and in reality. But hey, don't point any of that out, because fandom is supposed to be a place for escapism, even if those things are making it difficult to escape, yourself! (And then of course I've seen people attacked really harshly over the kind of "they probably genuinely did not know better and it would have been an easy fix if someone just very kindly explained it to them instead of needing to publicly punish them" racism or misogyny.)

I've had someone hold a sustained, months-long campaign of just constantly shit-talking me and low-grade harassing me across multiple Discord servers, and recruiting their friends to do the same, all because I said, "Hey, you've been consistently rude and also triggered me this one time."

I've had anons in my inbox doing everything from demanding I write more to accusing me of pedophilia (or supporting it) for... I don't even know at this point, lol. Because that's a thing people do in fandoms, I guess.

Maybe because I'm prolific or maybe because I actually talk to anons or maybe because I have a follower count above the triple digits, a lot of people have treated me like I'm nothing but a content machine, not a person, which is something I've seen plenty of people do to other artists and writers across fandom. It's crummy. It makes me feel like I don't belong here if I'm not "producing," and even then I'm only tolerated for that, not for, like, my basic humanity (or being funny as hell imho). I've had people attack me over dumb jokes or act like I'm not a "real fan" for them (despite the aforementioned 70+ fics, like I guess those don't count if I make a joke about Cassidy being kind of a douche one time in his animated short).

And anything that's happened to me, I've seen happen to other people. Often worse, actually, because I get far fewer rude comments on my fanfic than several of my friends do, and nobody's misgendering me when they imply I'm a woman, even if they do sometimes erase my queerness.

On the scale of things that are mostly just annoying/stressful and not so much acts of aggression, fandom does this thing where it just freaks out (positive or negative) about something instantly, so I get spoiled on stuff if I don't see it within 15 minutes after it dropped? That's frustrating, especially if the reaction is largely negative, so I'm just, like, absorbing all these bad vibes before I ever get to see the thing for myself.

And then, you know, shipwars. Shipwars are obnoxious. They are exhausting. I do not have time for them. They are also unavoidable these days. Any time I go searching for content, there's someone shitting on Yeehan and someone else stirring the pot by replying to them, and frankly it's just tiresome from all sides. (Besides, I think if you're a fan of the juggernaut ship in a fandom, you've gotta chill and recognize people will find you annoying, then go comfort yourself with your near-daily fanarts and over 6,000 fics. This doesn't mean they're allowed to be absolutely garbage monsters and harass people. Like I'm not pretending Yeehan fans are the only people capable of sucking, lol. They aren't! Online harassment is shitty at all times! But if all they're saying is, "Why does Yeehan get so much attention? I hate it," you can just ignore them, mute them, block them, whatever you gotta do.)

In general, I'm often critical of fandom, especially my corner of it, mostly because I'm a social scientist by training so observing groups of people is what I do. Like genuinely, I enjoy holding the world around me under a microscope. But also in terms of reach and efficacy, I'm more interested in "cleaning up my own backyard," so to speak, than arguing with people who wouldn't listen to me anyway (Yeehan antis in this case, I guess). So when I turn the "negative" lens on, it's of course going to be aimed at the community I'm most embedded in. It doesn't mean people outside of Yeehan are better or worse people; they're just not the ones I'm exposed to constantly, lol.

But also, as many bad things as this sounds like, I've actually mostly enjoyed my time in this fandom. I've made a ton of friends here, people I adore and respect and am so, so grateful to have in my life. I've gotten to be part of some really cool projects. I've been lucky enough to experience the absolute joy of knowing people like something that I've made, of getting to make stuff for people, of people telling me I inspired them to make things. All of those are really special, wonderful things that places like fandom cultivate, and I love that part so much that it makes me feel gooey and self-conscious about trying to articulate it.

Anyway. I'm sure the actual question you asked got answered in the paragraphs above the cut, but just in case it didn't, it was nice to be able to just say all the things anyway. You're new here. I saw your posts about Redditors' very unfair interpretations of Loki. And the fact that they went straight to calling you a narcissist because you questioned who is a reliable narrator makes my blood boil. They're shutting you up by perpetuating stigma towards NPD and other Cluster B disorders. And also I hate the acceptance of police tactics that often lead to entrapment and false confessions being framed as therapy.

in response to this post describing the situation. the comment thread itself can be found here, if anyone's curious, although that just shows the specific context around my comment; the broader context was this post, and then this original comment, which unfortunately got a shit-ton of upvotes despite also being on the same general dumb argument, although before the commenter got aggressive about it. so then somebody else started arguing, and the original commenter argued back at truly ridiculous length, and then I butted in to say "er well could you maybe clarify a couple critical parts of your premise here because I'm nnnnnot sure the text supports them actually" which yes is a little obnoxious in principle but not at all unusual for this type of discussion? because...this is...how Reddit discussions go? or Twitter or Tumblr discussions for that matter, like nobody has to respond to your entire long-ass exhausting thing about how Loki Is A Nasty Narcissist With A Huge Body Count when all they really want to do is point out that you, uh, seem to have a tiny bit of a structural problem underlying your whole argument, just...right there? that structural problem? and that other one? right, and these things you're ignoring kinda render the rest of your argument a little bit irrelevant? and since you were saying that you were only talking about stuff that directly happened onscreen, then surely you have no problem talking about other things that happened directly onscreen, right? like, obviously you have answers for those things too, if this is all so self-evident. right?

...but also, I was genuinely curious who they meant by things being "explicitly stated by reliable narrators," and irritatingly enough I still am because they never fucking answered, just got pissy and flounced. like I'm assuming they meant Mobius and probably Odin? maybe also Thor? but I genuinely don't know because they literally refused to answer! probably because they knew I'm right and didn't want to admit it 🤷‍♀️

anyway. to be 100% scrupulously fair, this person speculated that I "identify with Loki's narcissistic traits and [am] trying to excuse them" rather than outright calling me a narcissist, but...you know, that's...a difference of semantics. I politely brought up some textual evidence about how maybe actually their reliable narrators aren't so reliable and also Thanos's coercion probably extended at least until the Hulk-smashing, and they responded 1) as if I was the person they'd already been arguing with (but then didn't take back any of the aggression when I said I wasn't, so, idk) and b) by personally insulting my character. soooo.

in hindsight it's actually kind of satisfying that they didn't even try to argue with me, just insulted me and flounced, because if they really had a good argument, they could've come up with something. kind of indicates they realized I had a good point and that's why they got so pissed.

honestly the thing that bothers me more is how common this viewpoint is that Loki's a narcissist, which...I hate to blame the show for but I kind of have to, because I don't think it's something I really saw until the show actually used the term, and then everyone started going "haha yes of course" without a second thought even though the vast majority of Loki's behavior isn't even remotely in line with either NPD or the more informal, nonclinical definition of narcissism that people toss around. (although, side note, I did read an absolutely incredible human AU Thorki series where iirc Loki did have clinical NPD, among other things, and it absolutely worked there. uh, mind the tags if you check it out though, maybe especially the parallel series from Loki's POV; it gets very dark in parts.) even aside from perpetuating stigma against real people with real mental illnesses, it's just--such a lazy, shallow reading, you know? and it's...honestly, it's unrealistic. you want me to believe that Loki was a narcissist by the informal definition and completely in love with himself (but also scared and hurt. these things do not fit) and blind to the damage he was doing until Magical Mr. Mobius's therapy session knocked some sense into him and forced him to do some introspection for the first time in his life, and only then did he realize some things that the all-knowing Mobius already knew about him, which caused him to make a sudden, massive personality change? yeah, no. come on. he's not stupid, lying to himself sometimes out of self-defense doesn't mean he lacks self-awareness, and nobody straight-up changes that fast. also if you want to tell me the poor kiddo who was in a constant state of breakdown from the Jotunheim battle onward was also too much in love with himself and that was the real problem, then uh...I don't think we watched the same movies.

...I guess that's the other thing that pisses me off about all this, that people keep putting so much emphasis on what Mobius did, giving him all the credit for the reality check that allowed Loki to become a hero or whatever the fuck. honestly? that was an accident. Mobius saw a potential asset and was perfectly willing to use all kinds of emotional manipulation and psychological torture to get information and see if he could turn this potential asset into a more long-term investment. the reality check wasn't what Mobius shoved in his face, it was what Loki found out on his own and had to accept for himself: that this was all real, that he did still deeply love his family and they still loved him and they were lost to him anyway, and his fucking preordained life ended with him dead at Thanos's hands.

Mobius gave him the opportunity to watch the tape and yelled at him for a while. that's mostly it. Loki did the actual work of grieving and processing everything alone and he deserves 100% of the credit, and actually I'm a lot more pissed about this than I realized. like, even if if that had actually been therapy, or even if we figure Mobius had some charitable intentions toward Loki in there as well as pragmatic ones (which...look, nobody in the TVA is exempt from ACAB so I'm not inclined to give him much benefit of the doubt, is all I'm saying), Loki would still be the one doing the work, and it's some ugly shit to act like this cop who manipulated him should get to take credit for that.

Winter 2024 Superlatives

Well the Winter 2024 season is drawing to a close so let's do a round-up! I wanna do this more consistently so let's go!

Show of the Season: It's Frieren dummy it's gotta be Frieren I mean come on FRIEREN

Best show that actually started this season and isn't a holdover from last one: Delicious in Dungeon! I mean what is there even to say other than "I'm so glad it's going for two cours and I hope it gets a season 2 after that"?

Best non-Frieren holdover show: The Apothecary Diaries. Sorry, Undead Unluck, I love you too, and you are still the holder of "show that most should've been bigger", but Apothecary Diaries is just SO GOOD!!! I'm so glad we're getting more next year I need more Maomao in my life

Biggest surprise: BANG BRAVE BANG BRAVERN. HOLY SHIT. I just wanna thank everyone involved because this is exactly the kind of wild gay shit I need more of in my life!!! Every week, I was like, "this couldn't possibly get better, or gayer (they are the same thing)" and then IT DID???????? Legendary, a true AOTY contender!

Runner up: 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy!! I went into this one just because I'm a slut for time loops without any real expectations but it's actually really good! Rishe is such a good protagonist and, like her, I want to know more about Arnold! I hope this one gets another season! Also the author is on Twitter and she's so happy about how well the series is doing here it's so cute

Best sequel: This is tough because I love Blue Exorcist and this arc specifically and I'm really happy we got this season and that we're getting another one as well, but I think I may have to give this one to Bottom Tier Character Tomozaki-kun? Tomozaki-kun has done such a good job continuing to be like, anime self-help, but also just being like, a good story, about characters who feel like real people? I truly hope to follow Tomozaki-kun and his friends to at least their high school graduation, because they are so fun and interesting and realistic!

Best second cour: There's literally only one show in this category but I'll always take an opportunity to talk up Synduality: Noir! This cour made me CRY!

Show that most should've been twice as long as it is: Metallic Rouge! I like the show we have, but I do feel it would've been even better if it had at least two cours and thus more room to breathe. It's a shame the anime industry is in a place where a cool original show like this can't really go for more than one cour...

Show that I started watching hoping for delicious garbage but actually it was pretty good: Gushing Over Magical Girls. LOOK, I KNOW, OKAY. BUT IT WAS ACTUALLY PRETTY GOOD? I mean obviously the fetish shit is all there for you if you're into that but even if you're not it's not a TERRIBLE watch. I actually liked the characters and some of the shenanigans they got into!

Show I started watching hoping for delicious garbage AND BOY DID I GET IT: Chained Soldier. LOL this show is super dumb but it knows exactly what it is and god bless it for that. Sasuga Takahiro.

Most oddly comfy: Surgeon Elise. This villainess re-sekai isn't reinventing the wheel or anything but I adore Elise and her passion for medicine, and the soft color palette creates a great atmosphere. Definitely the best Korean webnovel adaptation this season.

Best romance: A Sign of Affection. Finding a boy who loves you in spite of your disability? Yuki is living my dream, I want what they have! I want to go on a date to Anime Costco!!! I'd really like another season of this...

Wettest fart: Solo Leveling. My coworker is obsessed with this series so I decided to watch it but I do NOT understand the hype. I mean it looks good enough and the music is great because Sawano but in the end it's just ANOTHER lame power fantasy about a dude who sucks but then becomes the most bestest strongest hottest coolest most amazing dude EVAR. Big "and everyone clapped" energy, especially as it goes on. This is just... slop. It's slop for the pig trough. You are pigs gobbling whatever garbage is placed in front of you. Have some fucking discernment.

Most excited for next season: Other than MORE DUNMESHI, I'm really excited for Konosuba 3 and Black Butler: Boarding School Arc, and as for non-sequels I'm looking forward to Kaijuu No. 8, the Spice & Wolf reboot, Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night, and Mysteries, Maidens, and Mysterious Disappearances.

the way corey just doesn’t publicly acknowledge colby’s cancer whatsoever. he was just live on tiktok(i don’t follow him it was just recommended to me on my fyp) so he obviously is on social media

jake said on twitter that he misses snc and he has been supporting colby since he first announced his cancer. he was shady a few times but he still supported his once dear friend when that friend needed it the most which is more than some people (ex snc friends) are doing.

it actually blows my mind that some people really are just not acknowledging it at all. like corey ffs lived with snc for years and they were friends for what feels like forever. if my once good friend got cancer i would most definitely support them. even if that friendship breakup didn’t end amicably. life is too damn short to be so cold. and i don’t wanna hear that corey could be supporting him in private bc they’re both influencers and it has a lot of people under the impression that they’re not friends anymore, not even a little, and that corey doesn’t care

i used to miss the traphouse days and corey’s addition to the videos but now i think both sam and especially colby are better off without him. jake seems to be coming around a lil

yeah, i'll be honest; i thought after a couple months back when colby, corey, and jake were seen at the same concert, i thought that maybe the hatchet got buried even slightly and while corey still didn't say anything back then about supporting colby, i thought "you know what, maybe he said it in person."

but with this go around, and colby starting chemo, and corey still not saying anything…. he's absolutely trash to me. and so is any of snc's old friends that haven't said anything.

and i truly do not want to hear "oh they probably said something behind the scenes" bc that's bullshit. that's a cop out answer. it takes two seconds to just comment a heart or even "you got this". no one is asking for you guys to become best friends again. you are a social media person and have been for years. everyone is watching you and waiting for you to say something.

and that's the thing that upsets me. i get they aren't close anymore. that's fine. friends drift apart, it is what it is. but corey, bffr. you wouldn't have a career if it weren't for snc. you would have died out with vine when you stopped dancing. you couldn't even keep up making dumb vlogs when you lived in the trap house. the only reason you remained relevant was bc of snc and the videos they allowed you to be in. and now, when sending just an ounce of love colby's way would be the right thing to do, regardless of whatever fallout yall had, you can't even do that? you're a piece of shit. there's no other way around it.

i'm not close to any of my old friends, but if any of them ever said they had cancer i would reach out and send them love. even my ex best friend, who i've basically blocked on everything. i would still reach out and let her know i'm here if she needs anything. bc ppl need support when they're at their lowest, when they're sick. but you not being able to even pretend to care is fucked.

and while i do think it's easy to blame elton on this to some degree, i don't think so. corey himself said he's a grown man, he should act like one then. make your own decisions. if elton kicks you to the curb bc you reached out to an old friend bc he's going thru cancer treatment, then elton is a terrible person and doesn't deserve any success.

elton's also a piece of shit for not reaching out. but at the same time i expected that of him.

Gotta say, aside from the happiness of Seb getting recognized once again.

My favorite thing to happen today has been the hater’s exposure of their performative activism. When they’re attacking Seb for Pam and Tommy, and in the same breath congratulating Evan Peters for his nom as Jeffrey Dahmer, like come on

And don’t get me wrong Evan deserves his flowers because problematic show aside, he did one hell of a job, and who I believe is Sebastian’s biggest competitor in that category.

But what I’m saying is if we’re gonna attack people for being “morally wrong” let’s not stop at one person and attack everyone the same way, you know?

Anyways let this be another reminder of how awards show do not give a fuck if a 14 year old on Twitter says that Sebastian doesn’t have any range. 😂

Over the past two days, I've gotten a few asks about how Sebastian has been the target of yet more bullying and hate on Twitter lately, and I really don't want to devote too much time, energy or attention to it since that would be playing right into the haters' cards and I'm not about that, but I'll just address the situation generally in this one post to at least have acknowledged it, since I know it's bothering some of you a lot and that makes me sad.

This is a long one, so I'll put most of it under the cut, but if you have sent me a message about any negativity regarding Sebastian or Chris, either recently or in the past, I would really appreciate it if you could take the time to read all of it <3

To start with this kind of double standard behaviour you're describing, anon: I agree completely and it's dumb as shit. Like I've said many times before: while I personally believe it's possible to appreciate an actor's performance separately from the question of whether or not it's a good idea for them to play that role or for that movie or show to be made in the first place, it's understandable and fine if you're not a fan of Pam & Tommy, or of the fact that Sebastian took that part. But a) that's no reason to bully anyone (wow so hypocritical), and b) if that's truly how you feel, then you should be feeling the same way about any actor starring as a less than morally upright character in a biopic (because otherwise, again, wow hypocritical). If you just pick and choose, and decide who can and who can't play those types of roles based on your personal opinion of the actor, then I just can't take you seriously, goodbye.

And then, more generally: I genuinely do not understand these haters. I don't understand why they choose to spend their time focusing on the negative, and on someone they (for some reason) don't like. That is not healthy behaviour. I'll also never understand why the fuck they've chosen to hate Sebastian, of all people (or Chris, for that matter, but I'll focus on Sebastian here). This man who is literally adored by everyone he's ever worked with, and by everyone he knows personally. This guy who started out with nothing and got to where he is now through sheer hard work and determination and without ever trampling anyone on his way up. This man who is humble and unassuming, always kind and supportive of his friends, of people in the industry who are just starting out, of women in the industry, and who consistently gives to charity and puts his money where his mouth is. This man who's had his fair share of awful things happen to him in his life, and who still gets up and keeps going and never compromises on his morals one bit.

I genuinely can't think of any other explanation why anyone would hate Sebastian than either jealousy, or being a bona fide dickhead, or just being so spineless and brainless as to blindly follow the behaviour of someone who is either of the above. I'm not saying you always have to agree with all of his choices, I'm not saying you have to stan him, I'm not even saying you have to like him. But to hate him? And to spend all your time trying to find ways to attack and belittle and bully him? That genuinely is deeply unhealthy behaviour, and most of these people should get themselves some professional help, stat.

I just absolutely can't take them seriously, and like I said above, I really don't want to dwell on their nonsense any more than is absolutely necessary. And I think that's what we all should do, both for our own peace of mind, as well as to deny these haters the attention they're so desperately craving. I do understand that you guys just want more Sebastian content and that's why you spend time in his fandom on Twitter, but on the other hand: this is what always happens on Twitter. Time and time again. It's old hat by now.

It's why I'm not on Twitter, and it's why Sebastian is not on Twitter, so I just can't help but wonder (and I don't mean this in a harsh way, I promise - just as an honest question): if you're a Sebastian fan who is sensitive to negativity regarding your fave, and if you're someone who gets as upset by the kind of nasty behaviour the various anons have described to me in the asks currently sitting in my inbox get, why are you still spending your time on there? Please don't do that to yourself. Ask yourself honestly if it's worth it, and if the answer is no, please just leave the Twitter Standom and/or take measures to properly curate your fandom experience. And if you choose not to do any of that, that's fine and I can't make you do it, but in that case, I would like to ask that you stop coming to me whenever more stuff like this goes down on Twitter, because like I've explained before: there is a reason I'm not on there, and that reason is that I don't want to see, hear or even vaguely know about that kind of nastiness.

And that's not because I don't care about people attacking Sebastian, and it's not because I think ignoring the haters will magically solve the issue. It's just because knowing about all this negativity will only serve to make me feel unhappy and helpless, since there isn't anything I can do about it that will solve the problem. If I knew there was a way I could change the hater's minds, for instance by patiently and kindly explaining to them why their behaviour is wrong, then believe me, I would. If there was a way I could make all the nastiness stop and make Twitter (and fandom as a whole) a place where people only had productive discussions to further worthwhile causes and were kind to each other and appreciated Sebastian (and Chris, and everyone else) for the good person he is, then believe me, I would. But sadly, that's just not how it works. That's just not realistic, so I'd rather not make myself constantly miserable by continuously trying and failing.

I'd rather find more productive ways to make the world a better place, and when it comes to fandom, the only way I know I can make an actual difference is by making a concentrated effort to focus on the positive on my own blog, and (at the risk of sounding like a hippie) by spreading love and joy to counteract the hate. Keep the balance from tipping over into the negative. So that's what I would like to continue doing as much as possible, and that's what I believe all of us should try to do. I hope you guys understand ❤️

Just a very short post compared to others this time. Lets start by playing a game, shall we? Can you identify the difference between these two pics of Dobson?

Yeah, that's right, the hat. To be more precise, the fedora Dobson would like to draw himself with, based on the fact that at least ever since college Dobson had been a fedora wearer in real life. Likely to hide his eggshaped, bald calvaria.

Now frankly, I don't think the fedora as a hat in itself is something terrible. In fact, it is actually something of a feministic icon, originating from a headpiece a female character named "Princess Fedora Romanova" wore in a theater play called "Fedora" by the french writer Sadoun from 1882. The character even played by a highly respected actress at the time called Sarah Bernhardt. Cause being Dobson, it did not matter if he wore a fedora, 80s leggings, nothing, a plain white shirt or started vapping: A douchebag, is a douchebag independent of his choice of clothing.

Dobson wasn't seen as a douche because of his hat or rather a lack thereof.

He was a douche because he was condescending, creepy, acted like he was a semi authority at what "decent" and "progressive" entertainment is like/should be, despite a severe lack of actually creating stories of his own and many other reasons.

Heck, Dobson couldn't even be halfway "consistent" with the fact he abandoned his hat. After all, even in the years following that comic, he would occassionally still draw himself with the hat.

No, seriously. The comic condamning fedoras, according to the base timeline I can construct on the release date of the comics, indicate it to have come out sometime before 2014.

And then when he made his patreon campaign video in 2015... well, I unfortunately only have a modified version of that video found online, but guess what sort of headwear shows up in the "unedit" parts.

I hope that whatever happened with his hat, it found a better use than resting on his skull. Who knows, perhaps it was donated to the homeless and is now catching more money on average, than Dobson earned via patreon

I love hearing you talk about what actually goes on in the film and TV industry. It really shows that lay people truly have no idea what happens behind the scenes and who's actually integral to getting their favorite show made. I have a dumb question related to that stuff if that's OK? If a film is indie produced and doesn't get any kind of distribution aside from being put on amazon and apple TV, does that have any chance of turning a profit?

i saw a writer use the term in the last few weeks that i love because the idiots have really come out of the woodwork since the whole strike talk started. that writer called it "fansplaining". it's where fans try to explain shit they have no idea about TO THE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY WORK DOING THE THING and then you ask them "what are your qualifications to even be talking on this" and WITHOUT FAIL it's always something like "well i took my AV class in high school" or "i took a class in college" or even worse "im a cinephile" and in the same breath are saying the dumbest shit of all time that has no connection to reality. ive said it before and ill say it again: unless you work in the industry or are like a trades reporter (and surprisingly during the strike we've also found out a lot of them dont know jack shit either) you know nothing. the amount of stupidity i see said on here, twitter, or IG comments is insane and people say it with their full chests too. and they wont hear otherwise either. you live in bumfuck, arkansas and have never step foot on a set or a development meeting. i could take a class on welding and would still never dare to pretend to know more than the people who actually earn a living doing this. no one has enough hubris to walk into surgery and tell a doctor they know more whats going on better than they do but suddenly when it comes to the industry EVERYONE is an expert because theyve read a wikipedia article. this industry is complex and layered and the vast majority of what happens and how it happens never makes it to the people who don't work within it.

The heteronormativity is bad but it’s not even just that. I think the bigger problem in the Byler vs Melvin ship war is that since mlm fandoms have a reputation of being misogynistic and hating the female character for “getting in the way” everyone automatically assumes that Bylers fall under that category too (I’ve had sapphic friends who don’t watch the show tell me that they hate Byler because they think that the fans hate women even though most of us are queer women ourselves) and so we have to be extra nice and accommodating and apologize every time anyone even mildly criticizes El on here otherwise we’re labeled misogynistic (and even ableist even though El has no canonical disabilities). Which I think is so dumb because El is a flawed character and that’s a big part of what makes her interesting. Discussing her mistakes doesn’t mean that we hate her, in fact I would go as far as to say that people who recognize her flaws and love her for them care about El more than fake-woke Twitter feminists who try to strip her of all her less than perfect qualities. And don’t even get me started on how acceptable homophobia is in the Melvin fandom. The way that they shit on Will all the time and want to erase him and have him die in the name of “supporting women” is disgusting and idk why Bylers try so hard to cater to these people and just get along. There is no need and there shouldn’t be any desire to get along with homophobes. It’s okay to just hate things and it’s not morally wrong to dislike Melvin and want to stay far away from it.

Well first off I appreciate your honesty and want to (sorry for phrasing it the therapist way lmao) hold space for your irritation with how ignorant people can be in fandom spaces, because it is very real—and especially given the complicated history mlm ships carry in fandom historically, I can see how byler being pigeonholed into the same "you just want to get rid of the girl for your mlm ship" space is frustrating as hell, especially now that it's officially semi-canon.

Also, to your point about El: I agree that there are far too many people who behave as though acknowledging that characters (especially female ones) can be multi-faceted + make mistakes / be imperfect is somehow tantamount to a misogyny, even though good characters (male or female) must have internal challenges and conflicts so they aren’t one-note in the narrative. Too many people act as though their personal resonance or projection onto a character should define everyone else’s understanding and analysis of that character, and that’s something that happens a lot with El, especially in the case of the space she occupies in relationship to Byler.

Personally, I've avoided most of that discourse by not engaging with Byler "versus" Mlvn conversations for the most part, but that I still notice and react to myself when it comes into my space—particularly the "you're misogynistic or ableist" conversation, considering almost all of that is rooted in headcanons and projections, and not El's (or Mike's...or Will's) canonical characterization. You’re completely right to want to stay far away from that kind of discourse/energy—staying away from how I’ve kept myself sane and enjoying st in spite of how chronically online some of the fandom's takes can be.

I don't think there is any solution to it (people are like that in every fandom space, and I don't think they're gonna stop being willfully ignorant or heteronomative now), but...it helps that I know most of the argument surrounding "byler is trying to get rid of El" is based on either not knowing the show, unchecked emotion, or poor media comprehension, because media literate analysis makes it clear that all three characters involved are deeply complex, growing individuals whose stories all have their own purpose—El's is just moving independent, while Mike & Will's are moving toward each other.

People who don't understand or can't see that—or who want to start arguments over byler based on nothing but their understanding of other mlm ships, or their need to posture solely for the sake of being "right" on the internet—are, quite frankly, not people I'm trying to converse with if I can help it. I don't need to be an advocate for byler badly enough to put up with any of that lmao.

random end game Y4 musings

Actually using my Tumblr because I wanted to say some shit and didn’t feel like blasting it all over Twitter for once. This is all end-game Y4 so beware of spoilers, unedited ramblings, and a ton of screen caps.  Also I maybe talk about j-dramas a little in here because some fandoms you never truly leave.

* I always like playing through all of the hostesses because you get fun flavor out of that, and I continue to be smug about the fact that I called Kiryu being an enka guy way back when I was still mid-Kiwami. Having him explicitly say it is just a victory lap at this point. 

Shizuka is my forever wife. More positive portrayals of deathcare workers, please. 🙏

* Although on the subject of hostesses, I always feel a little bad getting them to a full 20, taking them to the batting cages going to a hotel, and then dipping, but it’s ten times more heartbreaking with Kiryu. Because the guy replies like he legitimately feels strongly about the girls as the hostess game goes along (as opposed to Akiyama and Tanimura, who both replied with a “Thanks” after being told these girls were in love with them dflkjsf THANKS.) I dunno, it could be because of my own sad feelings around Kiryu’s disastrous love life, but the hostess minigame just hits different with him. 

* That said, he did basically out himself as not being a neat person in one of the hostess interactions, so use that as you will, Kazumaji cleanliness debate people. 

* Also this. Gotta love Kiryu hurting me at every turn: 

* Moving on to things other than me crying over hostesses (and Kiryu)... I cannot choose between which end game substory did more psychic damage to me: the baby one or the kappa one. Both gave me brain worms, however, so thank you for that, RGG Studios. 

* This Saejima face deserves a bullet point all on its own:

* Not going to go too into the end game plot because honestly, I kind of expect the inevitable procession of twists and backstabbing by this point (although I am still sore about the Yasuko thing, even if I saw it coming.) I will say that I laughed hysterically at the pyramid of money on top of Millennium Tower, and then Date showing up in a helicopter for the nth time. Never change, RGG. 

* Ok, actually, one thing about one of the final battles: when Kido started mouthing off to Saejima, my initial thought was “this boy has such ‘Step on Me’ energy.” And then Saejima said this and... 

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) not gonna lie, I’m into it. 

* Actually, on the subject of Kido... It took me until the very, very end of the game to realize where I recognized his actor from - he was the shitty DJ/Ryuji’s sidekick in Tiger & Dragon, aka one of my favorite j-dramas of all time. 

I’ve been thinking about rewatching T&D for a while now (mostly since people pointed out how Kiryu has Nagase vibes, to the point of thinking Nagase might’ve been inspiration for Kiryu) and this isn’t helping that urge. I went ahead and pulled up the Special, so here, have fun imagining Kido’s dumb ass making these faces:

At the end of the day, Y4 was... alright. It felt less rushed than the ending of Y3 even if the plot felt even more needlessly convoluted, but at least it didn’t actively make me mad like the ending of Kiwami 2. That’s a pretty low bar to step over, however, so make of that what you will.  

And now to go work on some of the ideas that the brain worms deposited and maybe install Y5.

YOU EVER JUST FEEL TIRED? That's a question that's been on his mind a lot. Knows for a fact that may be the mid to almost late forty blues kicking in, when he's been doing this for the better half of two decades. The argument could be made that he has been doing this for longer. Since the day, he ran away for the circus at a crisp age of eleven. That one day could be the argument made when this started.

Not anything that had to do with the Bartons, their parents' death, the orphanage, the man who fostered them the government checks. IT WAS RUNNING AWAY TO THE CIRCUS. He could say it was further down, the day that Buck Crisholm showed up and put a bow in his hand. If there were more recent events to reference for that tired feeling, he would need more fingers on his hand to count them. Have to be a mutant.

The other question that had been on his mind was WHEN DID HE GET OLD? There's the rational, literal answers that he could come up with. Logic there being that he was human and aging was a natural process, but it was meant more than he was the second of the new avengers to ever join. He was there before there had even been more than ten avengers.

Now he looks out and sees so many teams, so many superheroes; new and old, and so many avengers out there. That's where this old feeling was kicking in. He was Avenger number seven. NOW LOOK WHOSE ALL THERE.

Clint would hate to say that, but as the years went on and decade two stretched on to whatever year he was on now; he came to prefer the smaller work, street level stuff, and vigilantism although he didn't wear a mask, which maybe he should've; should be. It's too late for that.

TONIGHT HE HAD BEEN OUT WITH SPIDERMAN. Doing a patrol, partly together and partly not, they had ended up working together and taking care of your common run-of-the-mill, NAH, SPIDEY, I'D AGRUE THESE GUYS ARE D-LISTERS, as they took down a trio of TWITTER CALLS THEM C-LISTERS and let the cops sweep them up.

There's an ache in his bones, but he's snorting at some dumb comment that Spiderman said. Clint knows the guy under the mask, one of the handful few to know; he remembers that time and asking him to unmask, everyone else had. He can only hope that leap of faith he had asked the man to take felt like it was worth it, that it had paid off, and hadn't left him with any regrets. HE GOT THE WHOLE SECRET IDENTIY THING. Wonders if he should have cared about that more himself, sometimes regrets not.

Clint would die than give that up, and he knows when he's clad in red, the only name coming out of his mouth was SPIDER. ❝ Hey, good web-slinging tonight, whaddya say my roof in like ⸻ ❞ He looks at his wrist, there was no watch. ❝ NOW, and I get a pizza on it's way? ❞ ASKED AFTER A GOOD LAUGH.

That's how they had ended up here, on his roof. His feet dangling over the edge, as he had gotten up to sit on the wide concrete half wall that served as the border of the roof top. A beer in his hand, and freshly brought up pizza. SPIDERMAN'S STILL SPIDEY and he knows he had gotten here first. ❝ SHOW OFF! ❞ He had called him when he had opened the roof door, than locked it behind him.

❝ I locked the door, no one should be able to come up here, Spidey, if you wanna breathe a little more. ❞ He informs him, knowing the rules but wanting to offer that PETER can take the load off too. It's just them, pizza, and a pack of beer. They eat, in well, neither of them are particularly silent individuals, but it's light conversation and quieter laughs.

AT SOME POINT, the other superhero leans his head against his shoulder as they sat on the roof and talk, shoot the shit, and among other things. Clint goes silent, heaves out a sigh and ever so slightly leans in to show that he doesn't mind. What are friends for if not to let off the weight on their shoulders?

There's a sigh let out, and Clint knows that it doesn't come from himself. ❝ Yeah, I feel that one too, buddy. ❞ BIG INHALE, THEN EXHALE. A sigh and he thinks their breath sinks. Let the moment sit there as looks out onto Brooklyn. He knows Pete's in Queens, but that's a ways to sling on back. Clint'll probably offer up his couch if that's too much. Grab a spare change of clothes and duffel to stash the suit; wouldn't be the first time nor the last time that someone has changed on this roof.

Head starts to turn, to look at the other hero for a moment, ❝ When'd we get so old? ⸻ You know my doctor tried to talk to me about slowing down. ❞ One of the most absurd thoughts he had ever heard of. Especially considering what all Clint had in life, which was himself, his doctor, and Kate Bishop also a superhero and Hawkeye. Why slow down, and how could he ever stop?

Look at the goddamn world, how could he stop? He couldn't, thinks he'll be using his bow and skills to fight when he's old, going blind and hearing aids won't even help him being deaf, with long silver locks of hair; still playing Hawkeye. ❝ Could you imagine? ❞ He laughs, trying to bring the conversation back up.

❝ Actually, could you imagine any doctor saying that to a speedster? ⸻ That'd be like telling you, you can't lay your eggs in webs. ❞ OH GOD. CLINT THAT'S WEIRD. ❝ Spiders do that right? ❞ At least he said that to Peter of all people, he's pretty sure that Jdrew would maim him or shove him off the roof.

If I post something from tiktok, the video generally tells you where to go to see it there. If it’s a tweet or from reddit, again, there are usually twitter or reddit handles in the tweet. And NO, I am not putting a link to every single tweet or reddit thread or facebook post — if that’s that important to you, then figure it out. It’s not hard, and in the year 2023 most adults should have the necessary skills to find an original tweet, if that’s something that’s important to you. I’m not doing it for you, not sorry

Saw the other anon speaking about how embarrassing the fandom has been in the past and I completely agree with your observation. Often they have no ability to comprehend the simplest things like Kris and Colby just being friends or the fact that just because Dream and co came to their party does not mean we're getting a collab with them.

But one thing I have noticed is that these days, other than here on tumblr most other places where you can interact with the fandom, the fandom seems to have a high minority of minors. The twitter community for example seems to be almost entirely minors with a couple of the older fans dotted in. But in noticing this I think that explains a lot of the current dramatics, teenagers are much more reactive in the moment and don't tend to see the whole picture straight away which does lead to the fandom being embarrassingly dramatic sadly.

I get in the past it was not always kids, but focusing on the dumb recent stuff I'm mostly seeing teens being overly dramatic teenagers.

It's just interesting to compare the fandom then vs now.

i think it depends on what site you go on. the age range an skew one way or the other. like on here, for the most part, i think the fandom is older. obviously there are outliers, but i think on here it's mostly older fans.

then places like twitter and tiktok, it's hella young. twitter you might be able to spot the older fans (but highkey they are like the worse example of older fans with how often they get into drama or start shit with the younger fans. or, of course, talk overly sexual about snc/mostly colby). i think tiktok has the youngest fanbase across the board. i've seen comments like "omg i think colby is so hot too bad he's 13 years older than me" and i'm just like…. come again??????

i think there was a period of time when the fandom was evenly balanced. i would say 2019/2020 is when the fandom across the board was mostly in their 20s+ and that was when things felt pretty decent. we still had drama, but it was kinda funny and dumb back then. now, it just feels like everything is an issue and ppl take things too literal and it's just exhausting. or maybe that's just me and my big old age lol
