At one point, demand was so high for this pungent smelling flower, that individual plants for cultivation were selling at up to ten times their normal rate.

The craze has died down a little, but GSC still remains one of the Golden State's most popular strains. Its parents are OG Kush (written of above) and Durban Poison, which is a pure sativa strain from South Africa. Users report GSC to be uplifting and energy providing and that it brings on moods of creativity. Medically, it does well as a relief from anxiety and some pains.

Gorilla Glue #4

This strain was born and bred in Colorado. Its high quality all but assured that it would make its way to the connoisseurs of California. The name allegedly comes from the fact that the flowers are so resinous, they cause marijuana trimming scissors to stick to them like glue.

This fairly new strain has a few different parents. Sour Diesel, Sour Dubb, Chem’s Sister, and Chocolate Diesel all come together to make this cleverly named bud, bringing not only their flavor, but also their high THC levels. Gorilla Glue #4 is well known for its potency.

Although it is a sativa-dominant hybrid, users report a heavy body feeling, and sometimes couch-lock. That being said, the customary cerebral effects of sativas are also present, according to users. Granddaddy Purple

After we ran our list of 100 cannabis strains to try before you die, we started getting a lot of strain ranking-related questions. Specifically, we had a lot of people curious if there were any strains that weren’t worth trying.

Our short answer to that question is: No. While individual consumers may like or dislike certain strains based on varying preferences in flavor, aroma, effects, provenance, strain reputation, and personal past experiences, just about any strain can be a world-class strain if it’s cultivated with enough expertise, passion, and care. Furthermore, just because a strain is overhyped doesn’t mean it’s bad—it simply means it gets a ton of love that could just as easily be going to other equally deserving strains.

Below, we’ve listed nine cannabis strains we believe to get a disproportionate amount of attention. And we repeat again—these are still great strains. Many of the following are also on our list of the top 100 to try, and deservingly so. Flowering Time. Northern Lights can mature in as little as 7 weeks. This short flowering time is due to the tweaking growers did in Holland. Unique Effects. Northern Lights has THC levels that go up to a whopping 35%. This contributes to the distinct vigor and strength of the high. On the other hand, some people describe its effects as ‘smooth’ and ‘buttery.’ The heavy Indica effects of this hybrid make it suitable for nighttime use.

4. Skunk
