Jan couldn’t deny there was something strange about the sorority house, but she liked the girls so much that she’d accepted her bid and pledged. Education was now over and it was time for initiation.

Jan jumped at little at the unexpected voice and then gasped at the owner of the voice. The... creature? Beast? Devil? was completely red, furry in parts with hair horns, large inhuman ears, and long nails or claws, but a still rather humanoid appearance.

Hello, I don’t typically write posts nor get into these kinds of things, but I think there’s a lot of unfair misinformation and confusion in the narrative. I very intentionally have tried to stay out of this as I am not a member of a group which is directly harmed by these sorts of things, and it’s not really my place to speak on whether or not something is antisemitic. It should be said that a discriminated voice is more knowledgeable on these subjects and valuable to listen to. However, I believe the attacks towards Adrian are ultimately unjustified and surrounded in misinformation (and very likely misremembering). As a mod of the server, I take it as a duty to clarify what took place. I’m going to take this post in two parts, one will address the attacks against Adrian, and the other will address what the conversation has now become. I don't want to participate in or worsen the arguments, but I'll address what's being said against Adrian and provide evidence to the contrary.

According to the post, Adrian was “getting pissed at them for criticizing the glorification of n*zism in part 2 to the point of leaving the server upon being called on it”

To my knowledge, this is simply false. Having read through nearly the whole server twice (and multiple times over in the chat that the JJBA conversation took place), I cannot find anything suggesting that Adrian was getting pissed at the criticism of JJBA. Particularly, he was leading the conversation about criticizing the show, calling out that ‘critical consumption’ is more than just saying ‘I know this thing I like is bad but love and light’, and pointing out things to avoid and even blacklist for the individuals involved. Adrian also explicitly asked if a spoiler tag would be enough before even discussing the events described. Here we see him doing exactly that (Pear Enjoyer is Adrian):

There is very little left out of the above conversation but it quickly ended thereafter, and there was absolutely nothing to suggest that Adrian was mad about this as he directly contributed and basically lead the conversation about criticizing part 2.

Adrian actively hates part 2 and the fans of it who simply don’t think critically about it. Yet, having read the chat multiple times over, the people who left never made it clear that they were uncomfortable that the conversation was being had and wanted it to be ended. There’s no evidence that Adrian was mad at criticizing JJBA because he literally partook in it and was actively trying to be respectful about it. If Jewish people were uncomfortable, they are not forced to specify and explain that they were or why, and I would not blame them for leaving. However, it would not have been possible to know that they felt that way and attempt to curate a more comfortable experience for them. If there was an addressal of antisemitism, I am confident that Adrian would not have dismissed it. I would have (and know Adrian would have) ended the conversation immediately if we had known

You can say a lot about whether or not appropriate critical consumption redeems the consumption itself. But if there were any example of someone properly consuming media critically, Adrian would be that. He literally points out and explicitly calls out people who ‘fake critically consume’, which is something that is needed in spaces of deeply flawed yet immensely popular media.

And here we have the reason why Adrian left.

Again, I’ve read through the chat multiple times and the only actual place where this conversation took place was in mod-chat and in the rules chat. I accept that if they were uncomfortable with the atmosphere of having JJBA fans in a chat after having been explained the problems with it. However, as far as I have looked, I seriously struggle to see a dismissal of antisemitism.

While the new rules were implemented (which did tackle the subject of listening to the voices of minorities), also tackled the subject of ‘Don’t vague about members in the chat’ which is something which was alleged that Adrian did about his username and one-piece. That is a completely different topic but is a completely reasonable explanation instead of him leaving because he was mad at being called out for antisemitism.

Lastly, I want to clarify that I write this simply for the purpose of clearing up the misinformation and providing information for people who weren’t there. I don’t want hate sent to anyone (do not clown around and do that), but I’m tired of the misinformation and misunderstanding. I just want everyone to be aware of what happened.

It’s been a few weeks. We ended up traveling through Zhento and Ray met a nasty postmaster so of course she proceeded to rope Lugh into helping her rob and burn the building down– our only saving grace is that she at least had the foresight to do this in disguise. Unfortunately, in doing so she stuffed about seven hundred sheets of stamps and hundreds of envelopes into the bag of holding which is nearly at capacity now. She refuses to part with her spoils unless they are used for their appropriate purpose and I can only write ‘fuck you’ on a letter and hand it over to Lugh or her so many times before it gets old.

I don’t know how discrete you would want me to be with these letters, so I will refrain from naming you, your place of residence, or the name of our dear go-between who will be delivering these letters to you. I know given his position he can’t receive his own letters, so give him my love. We are continuing to travel, but if you want to write back I’m sure you have your ways of finding me.

At long last, here it is! Tomco Week 12: Pride and More! A Tomco week themed around Pride Month and the series finale of Star Vs the Forces of Evil! Special thanks to @jess-the-vampire AKA @tacosandtomcos for the banner, and to those on Discord who helped me with ideas.

Like all previous weeks, if you wanna modify any prompts into Stomco, you are more than welcome to and I will absolutely reblog those here too.

So our prompts for this week will be as follows:

Day 1 - 23 Jun - That Can’t Be It

Let’s start the week off with something that I’m sure all of us Tomco shippers are thinking. That everyone who watched the finale thought, I’m sure. Is that seriously it? That can’t be it. And yet, it was. Leaving all personal opinions aside I think we can still all agree the ending of the series was quite messy and rushed. We’re not fully sure what happened or why, but as it is, it seems all the dimensions have merged together. So what do you think is going to happen next? Where’s Tom? Who might have simply gone away due to the magic being destroyed? How do Marco, Tom, and Star all deal with what happened? Let’s explore the inevitable post-show chaos!

Day 2 - 24 Jun - Confessions

So yeah, I guess Star and Marco are a thing now. But this IS a Tomco (and Stomco) blog. How does Tom react to this? Did he possibly have a crush on Marco? Will the three of them try to talk this out? Will he try to win him over, join their relationship, or just move on because he wants him to be happy? Plenty of room for angst, but also for a happy ending for all three of them! Do what you will.

Day 3 - 25 Jun - Happy Pride!

Come on y’all, it’s Pride Month! Let’s show a little Pride. What headcanons do you have for Tom and Marco? If they were to dress up, which flags and icons would they go for? Or perhaps they simply discuss their identities with each other and learn more about each other in the process?

Day 4 - 26 Jun - Pride Events!

How does our favorite pairing celebrate Pride? Do they attend parades or rallys? Go out to eat? Shopping? Or perhaps they just hang out together at home and play games or watch movies? Maybe they don’t really care for celebrating Pride at all, which is totally understandable. I wanna know what you see them doing. :D

Day 5 - 27 Jun - Love Sentence Concert

Tom was freakin’ robbed in Just Friends, like WOW he absolutely deserved to go to that Love Sentence concert with Star, Marco, and Jackie. He and Marco bonded so much over liking the band and he doesn’t even get mentioned? smh. So let’s make up for that! Tom finally gets to go to a Love Sentence concert with Marco! Which songs do they rock out to the most? What souvenirs do they buy? Do they get any autographs?

Day 6 - 28 Jun - Meeting Parents

Honestly, it’s time. Tom and Star’s parents know each other, sure, but Marco’s and Tom’s don’t. But now that everyone’s in the same dimension together, there’s really no better time. How do you see a meeting between Rafael and Angie, and Dave and Wrathemelior, going? Is there tension or do they take to each other immediately? How do they feel about their children dating? And most important... does Wrathmelior just immediately gush over adorable Mariposa and insist on babysitting her?

Day 7 - 29 Jun - Summer Vacation

Well hey, the series ended around summer time, didn’t it? So why not have the final prompt be what you think their first summer vacation in the merged dimension is like! Where do they go, what photos do they take? How have famous landmarks perhaps changed? Is Marco’s favorite taco restaurant still there or is it now merged beautifully (or perhaps disastrously) with a Mewni or Underworld restaurant?? Perhaps they head to the beach and surprise, huge sections of the ocean are inexplicably replaced with lava, lookin like some ridiculous Minecraft map. Gonna get a little weird, gonna get a little wild this summer y’all.

So those are your prompts! I will be reblogging everything relating to it and using the relevant tags for searching later. Now, the rules, which can always be found in the About page!

1. Please use the Tomco tag on everything you post for a week. You may of course use main show tags, such as svtfoe and Star Vs, since they are from the show, but just make sure Tomco is also tagged for blacklisting purposes.

Phandom Pairing Master List

Here it is, folks! An updated/updating list of ships from Danny Phantom!

(Updated Mar. 25, 2020)

The purpose of this list is documentation and, more importantly, reference. Have a ship that you want to share, but don’t know what to tag it as? Well, this list is for you, so you can tag your pairings appropriately! Is there a ship out there that you despise, or are just uncomfortable about? Check this list to see if it has a name, and you can blacklist its tag!

Here’s how it’s set up: the list is divided into 3 categories. These categories are the Humans, the Ghosts, and the Ghosts/Humans; each category goes through in alphabetical order. Every pairing is either marked with [P] or [R] to indicate platonic or romantic.

You may notice that there are a decent handful of unnamed pairings; this is simply due to me being unable to find a pre-established name and/or coming up with one at this time. I hope to update this list over time until everything has at least one name.

Suggestions are more than welcome! Think of a pairing you didn’t see? Got a ship name? Throw them at me, and I’ll add them to the list.

EDDTOBER MASTERPOST 2019!

ABOUT:

Eddtober is a list of prompts made in an effort to encourage the Eddsworld Fandom to spread their wings of creativity beyond the norms that they are used to, during the month of October.

It is all without harming others or causing drama, a neutral ground for all fans of Eddsworld to come and have fun, no matter what side of a discourse they’re in.

It hopes to promote inspiration beyond the usual over-dramatised content, to revive a spirit in Eddsworld that hasn’t been seen in many years, and to stretch the invitation to all who can create.

Eddtober calls not only the artists who have a talent for drawing and painting and so forth, but also: the authors (fanfics, journalists, essayists, diarists, poets, ramblers), the cosplayers, the video-makers (animators, video essays, memers, youtubers), the gamers (game devs, let’s plays) and more. Eddtober calls for all those who want to be inspired with unconventional creativity.

So Eddheads: come forth, be inspired and make something new!

With that out the way, steel yourselves - this post is gonna be a long one under the cut!

RULES:

Base Rules need to be set so everyone can participate in Eddtober safely and in a fun way. Please read them carefully!

Always tag it with #eddtober and tag appropriately! Of course, the first part is easy. In regards to the second part, there’s three categories. All they have in common is that they must be tagged with their own tag and NOT in the main eddtober tag. These specific tags musn’t be shortened or reimagined either, just to make sure. Side Note: If you don’t want to see ANY of these things mentioned in the categories, it’s recommended that you get some form of a blacklist extention, either Tumblr Savior, xKit, or even tumblr itself to hide those things from you. Though do beware - be careful when looking through the blog since… Yeah, it’s hard to blacklist stuff through there. a) Gore. Gore and related NSFW is allowed in the challenge, but please tag it as #Eddtober gore, alongside the appropriate trigger warnings of the subject as #tw -trigger here- . The creative piece should also be posted with a ‘keep reading’ redirection so it isn’t immediately seen by those who are repulsed by it. b) Shipping. As of 2019, shipping is now officially allowed and acceptable in the challenge! If you have any ships implied or shown in a prompt response, always use #eddtober shipping and what ship it is in a seperate tag. c) (In)Famous Fan Projects. As of 2019, a lot of dividing opinions have been flying around the community and splitting people apart. In an event of unity and neutrality, these opinions are still welcomed, but still have to be done carefully. If you’re in favour of a fan-project, go ahead and tag them alongside ’#eddtober fan project’. But if you’re not, then you don’t have to tag them - just use ’#eddtober fan project salt’. And yes, those are the exact tags. No need to alter them here.

Be Sensitive and Respectful to Others. I know many of us here in this fandom can take easy offence to certain creations, so please consider and think on your creative piece before you make and post it. If it’s intentionally insulting and offensive, don’t post or even create it at all.

Credit Where Due. This should be blatantly obvious right now, but please, please don’t steal other’s creative fanwork or post it without credit. Always have permission from the creator to post something of their’s, regardless of the social media, and always have their username when you post it, not just ‘credit to the artist/original person’. If you do not follow this, actions will be taken for your consequences. This also goes for spreading Eddtober - always place a link to this blog if you spread the list to other social medias!

Keep your situation and life chill. You can do one prompt for Eddtober, some of the prompts or all of them - up to you! It’s understandable if life gets in the way. The goal of Eddtober is not to do every prompt, but to be inspired to create fan-content in a way you usually wouldn’t have.

Spread the word. This is less of a rule and more of a personal request from Admin Chris, but since she doesn’t have many social media accounts you’d expect, spreading word of Eddtober (with appropriate credit back to this blog) would mean a LOT, so they can join in the fun too!

Sharing is caring. Reblogging and sharing from your fellow creators doing Eddtober would be great to give them a motivation and confidence boost! (Keep in mind that reposting is not the same as reblogging, unless proper credit is given with the original artists’ permission.)

Go Beyond the Boundaries of Your Imagination. The whole purpose of Eddtober is to promote new, fresh things to come up in the Eddsworld fandom and break a cycle of the same old that’s been there for a while. Take a leap, spread your wings, do your best, and go have fun.

BOUNDARIES:

Most of this list will be related to Rule Two of Eddtober:

Be Sensitive and Respectful to Others.

Quote:

‘I know many of us here in this fandom can take easy offence to certain creations, so please consider and think on your creative piece before you post.‘

Whilst Eddtober is a fun, neutral place to spread our creative wings, there are boundaries that need to be taken in order to keep everyone safe. Which means certain parts that are usually seen as ‘common’ within the Eddsworld Fandom will not be acceptable in the challenge. This list is just to make sure that we as the Eddtober community can set a good standard for the fandom and for ourselves.

Edd Gould’s death. Admin Chris wishes to make it clear that creative pieces that draws clear lines to Edd’s passing IS NOT okay. This includes Edd (IRL and the character) in hospital for cancer, Angel Edd or any AU that depicts him as a divine being of any sort (including Blessworld), in Heaven or Hell (as an actual denizen there, not a tourist like in Hello Hellhole. There’s a strong difference). Here at Eddtober, Edd's life is something to be celebrated, not his death. It’s uncomfortable to see this thing happen and should be steered clear of.

Fetishisation/Sexualisation of Religions and Faiths. This is another reason why AUs such as Blessworld aren’t okay. In regards to that AU, the sexualisation and the horrendous acts done within the Catholic church is a highly sensitive topic that’s still debated over even in real life. So things such as ‘sexy’ nuns and priests and so forth are a strong insult to them. This is only one example though, and I’m not saying you can’t explore faiths and combine them with Eddsworld, but I HIGHLY recommend doing your research on the faith or religion and its history before creating for Eddtober.

Edd’s old IRL Friends. This is regarding Prompts 27 and 28 for the most part. Whilst Edd Gould did draw his pals into comics and Eddisodes, making them their own characters (quite clearly), many of them might not want to be associated with Eddsworld or Edd after his passing or after the legacy season. So out of respect for their wishes, please do not involve Edd’s actual old IRL friends in your creative pieces unless they say they’re okay with it. This will vary from person to person, so do not also take one answer from one person and apply that as an umbrella motive. If you get no response from the person regarding this if you ask them yourself, then take it as a NO and don’t involve them in the creative piece. This doesn’t mean that you cannot use the Eddsworld character based off of them (unless they straight-up say so). You’re perfectly able to, but to avoid future confusion, a person’s Eddsworld character IS NOT the same as the real-life person. For example, using Tom from Eddsworld in a piece is okay, but using Thomas ‘TomSka’ Ridgewell himself for the same Eddsworld piece isn’t. (Disclaimer: Said example may not be 100% accurate unless there’s further information about this. This is a fictional example, after all.)

The real guys’ last names/surnames. I really didn’t want to say this in here and it hasn’t happened in Eddtober yet, but when Legacy ended, one of Tom’s last says was that the fans shouldn’t use the IRL last names of Eddsworld crewmembers (specifically actors and animators) for the characters. It’s an effort to seperate the characters from the real-life people. This means when creating your pieces, you don’t use: -Edd Gould -Tom Ridgewell -Matt Hargreaves -Tord Larsson And so forth. You’re welcome to come up with your own last names for the characters, but please don’t use the old IRL ones. Unfortunately since this habit is starting to pop back up in bits of the fandom, I want to make it clear that isn’t cool or tolerated, and action will be taken if I see it happen in here.

Sinsworld. Believe it or not, the sinsworld tag was specifically made back in the day to keep the porn out of the main. But due to a certain in-fandom event, this intended action has been long-lost. Because of all of these events, any sinsworld (porn, lewds and related sexual NSFW) that’s Sinspired by the Eddtober prompts WILL NOT be accepted into the blog or any other official Eddtober accounts by any means. This is because many in this fandom are minors/underage and more who are 18+ are repulsed to porn and such (Admin Chris is part of the latter group). It is fine to be sexually inspired by the prompts and create stuff for them, but PLEASE don’t tag that Sinsworld content with Eddtober.

Abusive/Self-Harm Creative Content, Gorey or not. No. Just. No. I don’t wish to deny vent or darker creations. It is good to release your frustrations and express personal issues in what you create, but there are safe and appropriate ways to do so in the challenge. Death wishing, abuse, suicide/suicide idealisation, self-harm and/or similar are NOT allowed to be depicted in the challenge and should NEVER be romanticised or supported. Eddtober aims to be a safe and uplifting place for all creative people, no matter what their space is at the moment.

Shipping. On a similar note - whilst shipping is allowed, there are of course some things we don’t allow out of respect for everyone: -Shipping of the IRL people. -Sexual or abusive ship dynamics and tropes. -Ship-bashing or insulting ships. I’m sure there will be more to add to the list as I continue getting asks regarding this, but in the meantime, please don’t let yourself fall into creating for this.

Gore beyond Eddsworld’s levels. Gore has been a staple of Eddsworld since the early episodes, and it won’t be refused in the challenge. However, there are limits to how far this gore will go as of 2019, and it will be made clear here. -Guts This was allowed in Eddtober 2018, but as of now this is no longer the case. A lot of Eddheads expressed discomfort at the idea of guts hanging out of bodies as of the 2019 preparation survey, and I agree with them. This will also be extended to zombification/zombies. -Romanticised/‘Fashionable’ Gore. Absolutely not. Using the creative properties of gore to make someone look more ‘attractive’ in a sexualised manner is against the earlier boundaries. -Gore of Edd Gould, or his old IRL friends. This hasn’t happened, but it is good to make this clear in case some people are really naive about this: DO NOT DO THIS. That’s just straight-up offensive. -Gore of Prompts 27 to 30 (and potentially 31). Obviously. Since these last few prompts are about expressing your love and appreciation to the fandom, it doesn’t make sense on why you’d make something gutsy-gorey about some wholesome times. Especially in regards to Prompts Twenty-Seven and Twenty-Eight (Which was also just technically mentioned above, but the point has been made).

(In)Famous fan-projects. In the past year or so, certain fan projects have gathered a strong following - both for love and hate. Unfortunately, due to this hate being especially loud in 2019, action had to be taken for this. It’s not to say that you can’t express your opinions of a project, but there’s a safe way for all in doing so. For the others around you, and for yourself too. So if you’re going to create things that relate to either side of the argument you’re on, I will NOT allow straight-up insulting stuff to either side. Be it horrendous caricatures of the creators, vaguing about others through a story, plain old bashing or other means, I will NOT let it be shared around. More so, if this is kept up, I’ll most likely disregard your creations entirely since I don’t wish to endorse hurtful people. Especially through this event.

With all that said and done, let’s get to the ACTUAL prompts!

Quick reminder: when this list says ‘create something for’, it’s not just referring to fanart. It refers to any medium - digital, traditional or unconventional - that can be used. The challenge here is to be creative as possible, not to stay conventional.

Create something for descendants of the main four guys. (Sure, you can make it about the love children of your favourite ships, but the point of this prompt specifically is to not be ship-related. See if you can come up with descendant characters from the bloodlines of the main four. If not, shipping is fine.)

Create something for the neighbours of 29 Dirdum Lane. Are Kim and Katya still there, or are there newbies in the street?

Create something for a Saloonatics-WTFuture Crossover. (What? Shenanigans could be made here, guys. Just take it!)

my thoughts on the blmatsu survey (under the cut cause its gonna get down in the deep here)

I didn’t know the vast majority of the fandom likes blmatsu or tolerates it? i guess i was just unfortunate and was under attack by like... almost all the people who hate it dshfjgdhf I think if the survey also asked the question “which social media do u tend to use more often?” that would’ve been cool cause I have a feeling a lot of antis tend to use tumblr more since twitters blacklist feature isnt the best

anyways with that all aside, one of the ways we can solve this issue was by tagging stuff appropriately, which i guess new people in the fandom dont do and should probably learn that... But this issue im guessing was mostly talked about on the anti side

Us shippers still receive hate even if we have told the public that we ship blmatsu and even if we do tag it accordingly. And even hate is put into the blmatsu tags by antis PURPOSELY and I feel as if thats a major problem cause when tumblr is recommending me stuff from a tag im tracking and literally all i see antis saying blmatsu is gross and posting hate art against it I get very sad and im sure other shippers do too.

Twitter is a safer place for shippers cause theres no ask feature especially anonymous ask feature therefore a lot of shippers either run to twitter or pixiv

Im going to go ahead and say it cause a lot of antis just assume blmatsu shippers are some straight white fujoshi girls who like the taboo sides of ships: I am an incest/pedophillia survivor, i am gay, I am coloured, my trauma was so bad i have crippling ptsd to this day and im highly medicated so i dont kill myself at thought of it. And I dont even ship blmatsu to cope with it, I just enjoy these two characters together and they happen to be brothers, a lot of us dont even drool over the fact theyre brothers and x333 sin incest yaoi xD and if u do ur kinda fucking weird i have to agree with antis on that one.

This is not normalising incest. period. sure its normalising incest media, which can be bad for survivors who dont know how to blacklist or block but they should learn just as us shippers have to learn the tags early on. this in no way normalises incest irl and if you see blmatsu and assume its safe to go and have an incestuous relationship with your family you have a mental problem and u need to learn how to separate fiction from reality, everyone is taught morals from a young age and incest irl is obviously bad just like pedophillia and shit.

Hi, new followers!

There have been many of you lately---I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s because of Lucifer (omgIloveitsomuch).

Hi, my name is Tara! I’m a freelance writer and editor from Canada. My day job entails a lot of editing-of-all-kinds and some marketing/sales writing/blogging. I write fiction for fun (and maybe even profit one day). I have a background in theatre, film, and creative writing (and have a writing tag you can peek at for various bits of take-with-a-grain-of-salt advice).

Right now, as is probably pretty obvious, my primary playground is Lucifer. I’m still connected to the Mass Effect and Dragon Age fandoms, though, and have written quite a lot of fic in all three.

This is also a personal blog. I tend to tag these posts “Tara talks personal stuff.” I have (currently well-managed) depression, anxiety, and ADHD; occasionally I talk about these, too. I really love Iceland, Ireland, Italy, tea, coffee, books, cats, cocktails, libraries, pretty dresses, rain, travel, foxes, ravens, psychology, dogs, cottages surrounded by overgrown gardens, water, and fairy tales. I am wildly averse to spoilers and a TAGGER OF ALL THINGS, so if you want something tagged specifically, hit my up askbox without worrying that you’re bothering me.

Tumblr is my happy fannish space: you won’t see a lot of negativity here, and you’ll never see character hate (though you will definitely see character discussion). Though I care deeply about current events, that doesn’t bleed over into this place very often; I blacklist as many politics-related tags as I can to give myself at least some small respite.

My fic can be found on AO3, or in my fic tag. Lately, I’ve been writing a lot of Lucifer fic and Lucifer meta. Most of the Mass Effect fic I write is about the same Shepard and Garrus, and you can find a roughly-chronological accounting of their story on my blog’s sidebar.

For dash-management purposes, I can’t follow everyone who follows me (and I can’t follow people who don’t tag because I curate a pretty extensive blacklist), but my askbox is open, and I am always happy to interact with people, even if we’re not mutuals. Please, feel free---nay, I implore you---to introduce yourself at any time. I’m not ashamed to admit that seeing someone repeatedly show up in my notifications is usually how following happens (as long as there’s tagging).

Also for dash-management purposes: video game peeps can blacklist #lucifer on netflix; Lucifer peeps can blacklist #mass effect and #dragon age.

I do try to be good about answering asks. Sometimes I fail. If I don’t reply to something, either I didn’t get it, I was temporarily treading water, I was really busy with RL stuff, or the NOW OR NEVER side of my ADHD kicked in (I’m working on it). IT IS NOT YOU, YOU ARE NEVER BOTHERING ME, IT’S 100% ME. Please try again. Or send me a DM. In that vein: while I accept prompts (and occasionally even ask for them), I can’t guarantee I’ll get to them (and it’s probably worth at least noting what my interests or OTPs or favorite characters are before sending requests).

Okay, so, hi everyone? I’ve gotten some new followers, which is a bit surprising, and I’m sure some of you are aware of the discourse currently happening the mdzs fandom. Normally, as my about page states, I will not participate in fandom discourse under any circumstances, but as I was personally signaled out in this, I’ll be making an exception just this once. I’ll be placing everything under a cut just so those of you who don’t want this discourse showing up on your dash can avoid it.

Okay, so if you’re unaware, a blocklist was recently created of people in the fandom that minors should avoid/be aware of. I, as well as one of my good fandom friends, was on this list. I will not be posting links to said list in any way, shape, or form, as I believe it is poorly worded and just wholely not handled well in its original context.

I’d like to preface this entire post with one important idea: you curate your own fandom experience. I actually encourage blocking/blacklisting things and people who make you uncomfortable, just be respectful about it. You don’t need to announce it, or let someone know you’re blocking them. If I in any way make you uncomfortable for any reason, and you are uncomfortable talking to me about it to try and fix the problem, then please unfollow me, block me, or whatever will make you the most happy and comfortable. In the end, fandom is about fun, and it shouldn’t be taken too seriously. It shouldn’t be used to hurt people.

I can’t say I’m not upset that I and my friend were included, and while I don’t know most of the people on that list enough to make a judgment, based on the reasons my friend and I were listed, I don’t believe the judgment of the original creator of the list was wholly sound. For full transparency, I am going to include why I, personally, was signaled out.

The fic I recommended is a fic that the friend I previously mentioned wrote, and I recommended it because I enjoy it and I enjoy supporting my friend’s writing. Now, the fic in question is about the junior trio, but it is written in a context where they are older and not minors. To be fair, my friend did not tag for this, and the lack of a tag for it was not something that I, as her beta, caught, either. I don’t particularly intend to debate whether or not it’s okay to write sexual content about young characters after they’ve been aged up, as it’s a rather gray area and whether it will bother you will vary. If it does bother you, however, that’s perfectly valid and I encourage you to avoid it. Blacklisting is a wonderful thing, and ao3 now includes a function to exclude ships.

And just so it’s clear that I have not altered or cleared this in any way, here’s a screenshot with the time and date in the corner:

I would scroll down to show you guys more of the tag, but there is none. My yaoi tag is just two posts. This is the basis for which I was said to “support yaoi.” I’d like to point out that one post is literally a criticism of the genre as a whole. I have no idea why I tagged the second post as yaoi, but it was reblogged three years ago. It is not something I would reblog and tag that way today. I’ve used the same blog, the same username, for well over seven years now. There is bound to be some stuff here that doesn’t reflect who I am today, and there is also bound to be things that I’ve mistagged or not tagged appropriately in the past. I do not have the energy to clean absolutely everything out, but if you would like to point something out to me, I will be happy to change it. For my purposes, I’m not going to be altering my yaoi tag, in case anyone wants to check it for themselves.

Now, just as an off-topic, I’d like to point out that I’m bi/gray ace. I don’t hate yaoi per say, but I do dislike the picture its common tropes paint of the lgbtqa+ community, as anyone who has spoken with me for five minutes about it can tell you.

This is all I was flagged for, but in the name of transparency, I am also going to include something that, had our original poster of the list seen, would’ve been additional reasons for me to land on the list.

I am writing an A.B.O. fic for HOB. It will also contain an explicit scene in the future, and it contains some pretty heavy triggers such as attempted suicide and CSA/abuse. I know A.B.O. tends to be controversial for many, many reasons, but for the record, all characters retain their full facilities during any and all explicit scenes, on or off screen, and are able to consent or not consent to what is going on. Anything of that nature that happens to a minor does not happen on screen and is appropriately tagged as CSA. I also do not endorse or want minors reading this fic, but I’ll get into that later.

Now, does any of this disprove that I’m a potential danger to minors? No, it does not.

For one, disproving a negative is an impossibility. To demonstrate this, I’ll be using the same analogy my statistics teacher used. You have a field. You’re looking for cows. To find some cows, you divide the field up into twenty sections. Unfortunately, you only have the capability to check five of the sections. You check these five sections, and you don’t find any cows. Can you say, for sure, that there are no cows in the field? Nope. Because it’s impossible to check every section, and there could be cows in the sections you don’t check.

I cannot open up the entirety of my memory and history to prove that I have definitely never hurt a minor. It is absolutely never my intention, and if I have, I deeply apologize for it. But I have no way of disproving a negative because it is mathematically impossible.

Now that we’ve gotten up to this point, some of you might be thinking, isn’t treating such a baseless accusation so seriously, in a way, giving it validity? Well, in a way, sort of. The accusation is entirely baseless, yes, and this is going to be the only time I’m going to argue something like this in this way. It upset me, and it’s there, so I want to address it.

Now, I’m going to reference my about page. Here it is:

Again, this should probably be updated as I have written smut, however infrequent. I try to tag for common triggers, and I have asked here that minors under a certain age not read particular fics. All of my fics that depict unhealthy relationships, darker or sexual themes, or anything that I would be uncomfortable with a minor reading are rated Mature or Explicit, depending.

So all in all, I have tried my best to provide a positive experience to anyone who enjoys my content, and I try to tag so that potentially harmful content doesn’t reach those that it might hurt. I’m not perfect, and I can’t control everything. A minor can still go in and read my Explicit/Mature fics on ao3, no matter how much or how loudly I ask them not to. My content is meant to inspire, to show that life can suck, but in the end, everyone is worth it and continue on.

And, on that caveat, I’d like to point out that I generally take a stance of “create and let create.” Freedom of expression is the greatest gift anyone can be given. Yes, avoid content that hurts you, but please don’t lash out at those who create it. Until you know exactly why they’ve created it, what their history is, and what thoughts or feelings they were working through while creating it, please leave them be. Creators should tag their works so people can avoid content that might be harmful to them, but content that is harmful to one person might be another person’s lifeline.

But the reason I’ve laid this all out is that I want you to judge for yourself. Do I seem like someone you want to be friends with? Do I seem like someone harmful? Do I seem like someone you are indifferent to? Please make the decision that is best for you, and if you happen to want to be friends, please let me know ^^

Now, finally, I hope to see a more positive fandom experience come of this. I say all this, however negative or bleak it might be for me, because it was important for me to work through my thoughts, and I hope that something positive can come of honesty and communication.

Please don’t go after the original poster of the list, if you know who they are. It’s better just to let it go. The person seemed to have had good intentions, however ill-executed they were, and talking to them is only going to create more ill will and negativity for everyone. I believe, at least in part, the reason their list is so unfounded and baseless is because the content they cited genuinely hurts them, and when creating the list, they did not look at the full context of everything they were citing. And, well, context is everything, really. This doesn’t really excuse them, as they still hurt people with a largely unhelpful and thoughtless post, but brewing the negative feelings helps no one. I would also like to state that the fact that the content hurts them is not the fault of any of the creators. If you tag appropriately, but someone doesn’t take the time to blacklist or otherwise protect themself from content they know will hurt them, then that’s on them.

Fandom is a really interesting place. It’s full of so many diverse and wonderful people--minors and adults, lgbtqa+ and allies, tons of different nationalities--we should really take more steps to look out for one another. If there’s anything I could be doing better, please let me know. My experience with the mdzs fandom hasn’t been great up to this point, and I want to change that. I love this show, and I also want to love the people who love it alongside me.

Remember, for every not so great person, there are twenty more lovely people just waiting to meet you. And I hope that, from here on, those lovely people get every good thing they deserve.
