THIS IS EVERY INSTANCE WHERE THE JEDI TALK ABOUT ATTACHMENT IN THE MOVIES AND TV SERIES, which paint a very clear, consistent picture of just what attachment meants within the Jedi Order and Star Wars itself. It’s about how attachment isn’t the same thing as love or connection or feelings, but specifically about the inability to let go of someone when its time, that the fear of their loss is so great you would give up a thousand lives to save just the one because you cannot live without them, because you are afraid. George Lucas has been very consistently, explicitly clear about this as well, that attachment is always tied possession, fear, greed, the desire to control people, the dark side, and the inability to accept that life is transitory, that you can’t hold on to people, you can’t keep them, you can’t possess them.  Attachment is fear, greed, the willingness to make a deal with the devil to save one person, no matter how many other lives it costs.  But, setting aside word of god commentary, the above is still the way the term is used within the text itself. That doesn’t mean it’s not difficult!  Feelings are complicated, messy things and it’s not that any personal desire is attachment, it’s not that moments of fear are the same as attachment, it’s the willingness to act on those feelings in ways that get a lot of people hurt, it’s about using the Force for selfish desires, because the Force is your emotions, if you do something for a selfish reason, if you do something based on fear, that is a step towards the dark side. Context for each of the scenes: Star Wars: Attack of the Clones:      “Attachment is forbidden.  Possession is forbidden. Compassion, which I would define as unconditional love, is central to a Jedi’s life.”      Anakin is explaining basic Jedi worldbuilding to Padme and the audience, he directly ties attachment to possession (as Lucas says, this is about wanting to possess a person: “[Jedi Knights] do not grow attachments, because attachment is a path to the dark side. You can love people, but you can’t want to possess them.“), instead explaining to her that compassion is central to their lives. Star Wars: The Clone Wars - "Downfall of a Droid”:     “I could take a squad out there, track him down.” "Anakin, it's only a droid. You know attachment is not acceptable for a Jedi."      The context of this scene is that Anakin is willing to not only put his own life on the line, but that he would put the clones’ lives and Ahsoka’s life on the line, in the middle of a war where they’re facing a weapon that is killing them in droves, to go find his droid.  This is the only time that Obi-Wan objects to Anakin’s affection for the droid throughout the entire series, when it’s about risking others’ lives to save Anakin’s favorite droid.  Any other time Anakin favors Artoo, Obi-Wan just reacts with fond annoyance. Star Wars: The Clone Wars - "Jedi Crash”:      "I can still sense your worry for Anakin, your attachment to him." "It's just... I get so confused sometimes. It's forbidden for Jedi to form attachments, yet we are supposed to be compassionate." "It is nothing to be ashamed of, Ahsoka. I went through the same process when I was your age with my own master."      "You were right all along, Master Secura." "About what?" "If I had stayed with Anakin, we probably wouldn't have found this village in time to save him."      The context here is that Ahsoka’s desire to stay with Anakin would have potentially cost all of them their lives, because she couldn’t do anything more for him other than worry over him, but they needed to find help because he was going to die without it.  Ahsoka’s desire to be compassionate to her master is conflicting with her duty to help in a way that takes her away from him, and this is something young Jedi have to find the balance of, and that’s what the show is explaining to the audience.      It’s not always an easy path to find, sometimes Jedi are going to struggle with it, but Aayla was right and Ahsoka understands that at the end, along with the audience, that staying with him out of Ahsoka’s personal desire to do so against her duty to go get help, would have cost Anakin his life. Star Wars: The Clone Wars - "Brain Invaders”:     “Ahsoka, it's your duty to save as many lives as you can. Barriss knew you could save thousands if the worms were destroyed. Which she thought meant destroying her, too. But you did the right thing. You knew the freezing cold would kill the worms. Letting go of our attachments is a difficult struggle for all of us.“      Barriss posed a very explicit danger to anyone she would come across, just as the clones had infected other clones and then Barriss herself, she would go on to do the same.  While Ahsoka found a way around it this time, the conflict here is that Ahsoka was weighing her personal desire to not have her friend die versus the thousands of people her friend might go on to hurt.  Attachment isn’t just that Ahsoka cared about Barriss, but that conflict of saving her life at the cost of others’ lives, because Ahsoka herself wanted it, because she was afraid to live without her friend.      The opening title card quote for this episode is, “Attachment is not compassion.” Star Wars: The Clone Wars - "Voyage of Temptation”:     "My duty as a Jedi demanded I be elsewhere." "Demanded? But it's obvious you had feelings for her.  Surely that would affect your decision." "It did.  I live by the Jedi Code." "Of course.  As Master Yoda says: 'A Jedi must not form attachments.'"      Letting go of attachments isn’t easy, there’s sadness and remorse in it often times!  But the scene here is once again that Obi-Wan is telling Anakin that his duty asked him to be elsewhere and that’s when the conflict between his desire to stay for his own reasons and his duty as a Jedi made it an issue.  Up to that point, we’re given no indication that it was any kind of issue (and in a later episode we’re told romantic feelings are natural according to the Jedi, they’re not forbidden), we see Jedi caring deeply about their friends and Masters and Padawans, it’s only when they’re willing to abandon their duty to save lives, the lives that are depending on them, that it becomes an issue.      Had Obi-Wan been willing to let those people’s lives be in danger because he personally was unwilling to give up being with Satine, then that is what the problem would have been. Star Wars: The Clone Wars - "The Rise of Clovis”:    "You’ve met Satine. You know I once harbored feelings for her. It’s not that we’re not allowed to have these feelings.  It’s natural."     In this scene, it’s just after Anakin has beaten the crap out of Rush Clovis because he saw him kissing Padme and lost control, that it wasn’t about defending Padme, it was about his jealousy, even after the dust settles, he still believes she has feelings for Clovis.  Anakin’s inability to trust her and his possessive jealousy are at a boiling point, he is unable to see her clearly, he is sliding into fearful, angry possession of her, which is when Obi-Wan comes to talk to him.      In contrast, in “A Distant Echo”, Obi-Wan makes it clear he knows about Anakin and Padme, (”I hope you at least told Padme I said hello.”) but there’s no conversation about getting himself under control because Anakin is no longer at a boiling point with his feelings.      The Jedi don’t forbid feelings, not even romantic feelings, while they do forbid attachment.  They cannot be the same thing.  (Though, they do say you can’t be in a committed relationship and be a Jedi, but that’s not the same thing.) Star Wars: The Clone Wars - "Front Runners”:     “Ahsoka, remember what I told you about staying focused.” “I can't help it, Master.” “I understand.” “You do?” “I do. But try to remember, always put purpose ahead of your feelings.“      This instance doesn’t directly mention the word attachment, but it’s same the context--Anakin’s advice is in line with everything else we see in the series, that it’s not that Ahsoka’s feelings are an issue, but that she can’t let them cloud her judgement, because the people of Onderon’s lives are on the line here.      It’s the same as how Obi-Wan’s feelings for Satine weren’t an issue until there was a conflict with his duty, just as Anakin’s feelings for Padme in Attack of the Clones weren’t an issue, Obi-Wan saw them quite clearly, until they were in conflict with Anakin’s duty. Star Wars: The Clone Wars - "The Jedi Who Knew Too Much”:     “Every time I think about this, I feel conflicted. It's hard not to let feelings turn into attachment and pain.“      In this scene is that, with so many Jedi dying and the war being so hard on them, there’s a lot of fear and anger that they have to let go of, that Ahsoka and Barriss are coming back from a funeral for several Jedi and it’s a painful moment.  Ahsoka compares it to the Brain Invaders storyline, “Like, when we were stuck inside the battle tank on Geonosis, it was hard not to be afraid. Still, you and I got past it. And I guess we'll get past this.”      The concept of attachment is again directly tied to fear and pain and suffering, that the solution (the one Anakin teaches her, that Ahsoka says he would say, “Our struggle as Jedi is to move past [these feelings of anger and fear].“) is to let go of them, to move past them--which is something Lucas has said multiple times is the theme of his movies.      "[The Jedi] trained more than anything else to understand the transitional nature of life, that things are constantly changing and you can’t hold on to anything. You can love things but you can’t be attached to them, You must be willing to let the flow of life and the flow of the Force move through your life, move through you. So that you can be compassionate and loving and caring, but not be possessive and grabbing and holding on to things and trying to keep things the way they are. Letting go is the central theme of the film.“ --George Lucas, Star Wars Archives 1999-2005       “The key to the dark side is fear. You must be clean of fear, and fear of loss is the greatest fear. If you’re set up for fear of loss, you will do anything to keep that loss from happening, and you’re going to end up in the dark side. That’s the basic premise of Star Wars and the Jedi, and how it works.“ --George Lucas, Star Wars Archives 1999-2005 Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith:      “Attachment leads to jealousy, the shadow of greed, that is.“     This is a scene where Anakin has become so afraid of losing Padme that he’s starting to go off the deep end about it, he’s butting up against his willingness to make a deal with the devil to save her from something he doesn’t even know for sure is going to happen.  The story of Revenge of the Sith is that Anakin is so afraid to lose her that he will murder not just the adult Jedi and help Sidious create an Empire, but he will murder literal toddlers to save the person he wants to save.  It is the very definition of attachment, of greed and fear. The above are every time that “attachment” is mentioned by a Jedi in the movies and the TV series, this is the entire context for what it means to the Jedi and to Star Wars.  Does the term have other meanings in popular lexicon?  Sure, but this one is closer to the Buddhist meaning and the way the characters speak of it, the context of their scenes and when they talk about it, the events that surround it, are all consistent with that attachment means a specific thing, that it’s synonymous with the fear of losing someone, so intense that you’re willing to sacrifice a thousand lives just to hold onto the one person. Attachment isn’t just harmful for the person who can’t let go, it’s something that costs thousands of people their lives.  And the Jedi only bring it up in that context, when it’s about the conflict of their personal desires against people who are depending on them, we see that otherwise personal desires and relationships aren’t commented on.  It’s only when a Jedi is willing to let people get hurt for their own desires that the Jedi talk about attachment.

2.08 Crossroad Blues
-Absolute classic. Sam’s bossy ass saying Dean’s notoriety means they have to be more careful now, Dean flirting by calling him “you innocent, harmless young man you.” Sam feels overshadowed, or maybe he just wants them to be mentioned as a pair.
-Dean doesn’t want to help people who made demon deals, because he feels they’ve brought this on themselves. Sam notices that Dean is being weird about this when normally saving people is his jam. Sam notes this red flag in Dean’s behavior.
Something I just realized is that Sam didn’t seem to be this observant with John. Dean knows both John and Sam well but in different ways. He learned how to read John but he can sense Sam like a part of himself. Did Sam not learn how to read John? Did he not have to because understanding Dean was more central to his world and wellbeing? He looked up to Dean and trusted that they could take care of each other. This is part of what makes the dynamic between the three of them so striking. Sam didn’t seem to have that slight fear of John that Dean did, that comes from trying really hard to predict what a parent will say or do next.
-Dean kicks in the front door when Evan locks it, leads the way inside, and goes to kick in the office doors but Sam stops him by grabbing his leg
Tumblr media Tumblr media
which leaves him sort of leaning into Dean and holding his leg. Sam then opens the door because it was unlocked. I love this moment because it shows how close they are that Sam feels comfortable intercepting him physically and knew right away what Dean was going to do. It also shows Sam’s role in their relationship tempering Dean’s brute-force reactions, helping him slow down.
-Dean tells Evan unsympathetically “I think you did it for yourself so you wouldn’t have to live without her.”
This episode is so complex when you watch it in context. Right now Dean is mad at John for saving his life because he feels guilty, and because he was brought back to a world heavy with the crushing weight of his father’s absence and horrifying last edict.
But John most certainly didn’t bring Dean back because he didn’t want to live without him—John died right away. This is Dean contemplating bringing John back because he really needs his dad right now. He’s exhausted and he’s confused and he doesn’t know what to do about Sam and the responsibility is killing him. He looked up to John and thought he had all the answers. The temptation to make a deal and bring him back is ripe.
And then— we know that actually Dean would sell his soul for someone just like Evan did, like John did—someone he would rather die than live without, someone he loves with a desperation similar to Evan’s love for his wife. That person is Sam. Dean doesn’t realize this yet.
-Sam can tell what’s going through Dean’s head and becomes worried and scared, asking him not to go to the crossroads demon right now because “I don’t like where your head’s at.” He’s incredulous.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dean argues “You’re not allowed to say no, Sammy, not unless you got a better idea.” This sounds like it’s one of their rules for hunting. They’ll try the next best idea whatever that may be because doing something is better than doing nothing.
Sam says “Dean you can forget it, alright. I’m not letting you summon that demon.” He’s being SO protective. Dean will do whatever Sam says unless Sam says Don’t go do something dangerous.
Sam tries to make Dean stay.
Tumblr media
They talk about the likelihood that John made a similar deal, and Dean swallows and says “what if he did? What if he struck a deal? My life for his soul.” He waits for Sam’s reply, and seems truly afraid of what Sam will say, like Sam would say John shouldn’t have done that.
Sam gives him this look that’s got some fire in it, some conviction. Maybe he’s mad at Dean for his self-hatred.
Tumblr media
Sometimes I forget that at this point in the story, Sam has almost lost Dean twice. Both times Sam was willing to do anything to get Dean back. He finally has his big brother back after years apart, and he is no longer in a position to really be able to go back to his normal life. He needs Dean, and he chose Dean. I don’t want to come across like Sam doesn’t care about John because genuinely I think it’s made clear that he does, but it is very much supported by the text that Sam would rather have Dean back even with John in hell than lose Dean. He told Dean that he’s the only one who’s always been there for him, he trusts Dean, he feels loved and protected by Dean, and when Dean and John were both in peril he went to Dean.
But we don’t get to find out what Sam would say to Dean’s question, because they’re interrupted. Sam unhappily watches Dean go.
Tumblr media
-This whole scene where the crossroads demon offers to bring John back in exchange for Dean’s soul is so, so beautifully acted by Jensen. Dean’s plan all along is to trap the demon and exorcise her, and if he’s going to follow through, he can’t make that deal. He wants to. He feels guilty enough about John’s soul burning in hell for him forever, on top of his grief. When she finally steps into the trap he looks like he might cry. It worked, he moves forward with his plan without taking the deal offered. Why doesn’t he? It’s not what his dad would’ve wanted, obviously, and it’s not what Sam wants. Sam was explicitly worried about Dean making the deal and told him not to go. But I think it’s mostly that Dean hates demons. He makes quite a few sexual jokes this episode and talks about hitting on the front desk girl at animal control, but when the demon kisses him to seal their deal, he doesn’t even make a lascivious joke, he’s just disgusted—and the demon is possessing a beautiful woman who’s his type. His hatred for demons is personal. Demons quite literally killed his parents, ruined his life, and are mysteriously targeting and trying to corrupt his baby brother. They represent that black and white pure evil that he wants to salt and burn from the earth. So his feelings make sense.
-Dean talks about the way John died while he and Sam drive away. Dean doesn’t understand yet, what could make someone sell their soul to a demon.
I don’t think he has entertained the idea of what he would do if Sam died. The king of denial just won’t let it enter his brain.
Tumblr media
Sam understands, though. He answers Dean really softly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is logical to Sam. He wanted John to prove he gave a shit about Dean, and he did. John did something right, and even though it makes Dean feel guilty, Sam would rather have a guilt-stricken Dean than no Dean.

What was Abrams favorite thing that Andrew gave him during his courting attempts?
Okay I’ve been sitting on this one because I was trying to give it my best answer and like. I still don’t know lol
I know that people in the replies and tags are going to have incredible answers as well so I want this to be more of a “here’s a collection of things he likes the most” and I get to start so here’s my take:
It’s a book. I hear your valid confusion but LISTEN. In the stretch before Abram finally realizes what’s been going on with the gifts/etc, Andrew gives Abram a book - could be poetry, could be a romance story, idk - with a ribbon just barely peeking out of one page. Abram, obviously, doesn’t think much of it and he’s never been big on reading (I don’t know why I never have Neil liking to read lol is that canon) so he keeps the book on his dresser or something like “I’ll get around to it if he insists”
And then after Abram actually, clearly says he can accept Andrew’s advances, Andrew remembers about it and realizes Abram must not have ever opened the book because he would have figured this all out before now if he had
He asks him about it, if he ever read it, and Abram’s like “…no”
So Andrew tells him to. Later, when Abram’s back in his room, he picks up the book and checks out the first page, and it’s something pretty obviously unimportant or unrelated. And the next page. Eventually he thinks to check the ribbon; he flips to the pages and somewhere on them a quote is underlined in steady deep blue ink:
My glances through the eyes of friendship grow more brief by the day. You remain in the kindest, softest embrace of my heart, but now I find myself watching, hopeful, and friends do not look at friends the way I sometimes look at you.
Stunned, in a word.
But this is something he can figure out. This isn’t flowers - they’re lovely but die so quickly, and Abram doesn’t know the language of them or which ones Andrew would like. It isn’t meals shared, because that’s too common by now. It isn’t direct words or actions of affection because those are far too awkward for someone with so little experience with them. But Abram looks at this book, sees exactly what to do with it, and he knows certainly that this is a way the prince wouldn’t mind communicating because he was the first to do it. Abram doesn’t even have to be around when Andrew reads it.
So Abram spends the next several days scanning the book when he has time, finding many quotes he could perhaps imagine returning, finding a few he keeps marked just in case. Then he finds one that he doesn’t even bother marking with a scrap paper, he immediately picks up his pen and underlines it.
I look at the moon and she has your face: the brightest thing in my sky, the most beautiful, and so, so far away.
(And @jtl-fics had the sweetest idea of Abram pressing and keeping the flowers from the bouquet Andrew gets him in this post; and that he uses some to make bookmarks probably because he knows how much the prince likes books. He would definitely use one of those bookmarks to mark the page he underlined rather than the scrap ribbon 🥰)
Anyway the next time Abram sees the prince he wordlessly hands him back the book. Andrew sees the new mark but doesn’t try to open it yet (which relieves Abram more than he’ll admit), just keeping it under his arm until he has somewhere to put it. But it doesn’t take him near as long to find another quote, since he tends to get distracted reading the context or surrounding passages; he underlines the very next sentence and gets the book back to Abram the next morning. Understanding the risk of Abram’s misunderstanding and completely willing to explain himself in plain terms when Abram asks. Still with the pressed flower bookmark.
To have you near enough to touch should surely destroy me.
When Abram opens it later he first sees that the pages look very familiar - those passages look very familiar - that quote is certainly familiar. And he gets very worried very quickly. Maybe Andrew didn’t like that one, maybe Abram had chosen wrong and he didn’t know how to do this as well as he’d thought. But he doesn’t close it fast enough not to finally, mercifully read on and realize that some of the ink on the page is not his own black ink. After it, dark enough to almost be black in the wrong light, is Andrew’s dark blue.
But after reading Andrew’s quote he does in fact close the book quickly, sitting back and just staring, mostly because he’d surprised himself; he won’t know Andrew’s intention for certain until he asks, but this time - likely for the first time - Abram looks at the word destroy and doesn’t immediately think of the harm he’s done. (Andrew’s new, unfamiliar way with words had to work it’s way into Abram’s understanding eventually.)
They go on as long as there’s still quotes they like in the book, and only once does Andrew get frustrated that Abram stole one of his before he could get around to using it.
Anyway thank you for the sweet ask, here’s a quick sketch of Andrew reading to Abram in the library

The show hasn't really gotten into the Breaking as much as I think they should have at this point. Which does kinda go into the fact that Lews Therin doesn't seem to be feared by the general public at least as far as we know? Which does make me a bit concerned as that is important. It does seem like the AOL flashbacks are leading up to Dragonmount and therefore the Breaking so maybe that's why it hasn't been addressed as much yet? Rafe did say there's less knowledge of the prophecies or at least less belief that they're 100% accurate since they're over 3000 years old and translated a million times so that might play a role too? Idk I'm curious for them to get into the prophecies more so we know what the world thinks and believes about the Dragon.
i just wanna say that as someone who studied ancient history and ancient literature, it is completely accurate that the current people of randland know very little about what happened 3000 years ago, that the average population outside of scholars doesn't care about what happened 3000 years ago, and that nobody is willing to put full trust in the accuracy of the few ancient texts and prophecies that survived to the present.
and mind you, i ran into all these things in my studies of events that happened only 2000 years ago. 3000 years, we are talking the late bronze age collapse in the mediterranean region - an event that's infamously mysterious precisely because we have so little surviving evidence to say what caused it.
when it comes to human history, 3000 years is a MASSIVE amount of time, and to be honest i don't think RJ/the books really understood just how massive (for example, randland should have been able to advance more, technologically, in 3000 years than it did, even considering how destructive the breaking was and how destructive the taint & false dragons & shadowspawn continued to be). the general population outside of scholars does not spend a second thinking about things that happened 3000 years ago or specific people who lived 3000 years ago. they just don't. realistically, lews therin shouldn't be anything more than a vague fable to the average population of present-day randland. of course they're not afraid of him. why would they be? he's insanely far-removed from and irrelevant to their lives - for now. i daresay they'll start to get nervous once they start to see true signs that the dragon has been reborn and that the last battle will happen in their lifetime. but until then, i cannot emphasize enough how much any dragon- & breaking-related shit is not on the general population's radar. they don't care about the bronze age collapse. they don't care about any sort of war or destruction or apocalypse until it starts to affect them personally (see: nobody caring enough to help falme in s2, just as nobody cared enough to help manetheren).
i will also add that as someone fresh from reading the books for the very first time, i can comfortably say the show is NOT lagging behind on Breaking Info-Giving compared to where the books were at this point. we had zero clue about the bore or any of that stuff until rand's rhuidean trip (and even then, i didn't really understand what the hell was going on in his visions until quite a bit later, and in large part due to learning some extra-book information that explained it better). as a show-only during s1, i can assure you that the 3000 years later flashback showing us a futuristic society made me go OH SHIT and hit home the full impact of the breaking far more than anything in the books, where we don't even see any AOL scenes onscreen aside from the rhuidean visions (which are very confusing to a first-time reader) and the dragonmount prologue (which isn't very useful since it's the first scene in the whole series and a first-time reader has zero context for anything learned there).
honestly, i think longtime readers forget just how much of our AOL/forsaken/breaking knowledge comes from extra-book sources like the companion, Word Of Jordan, etc; the books alone are very vague about so much of that stuff and i remember being repeatedly bewildered as to how you guys knew so much about the AOL when the books either didn't have those details at all or had them so vaguely that they flew right over my first-time reader head. i'm not 100% sure, but i believe latra posae decume isn't even MENTIONED in the books and comes purely from "the strike at shayol ghul", as do many of the details about the strike and the bore and the breaking. and so i definitely think the show has already included more information, and more CLEAR information, about the breaking than the books alone had by the end of TDR and in fact for much of the series.

I'm thinking about Ed at the beginning of episode 7 and how he was getting ready to leave. I'm imagining that maybe the night before he tried making one last pass at Stede, one last try to see if Stede was interested, but still nothing. And Ed is being so blatant now, even more so than he had been with the "Run me through" thing and yet still no response from Stede. And Ed thinks that Stede can't possibly be this oblivious, he must be ignoring it on purpose as a way of letting Ed down gently. So Ed gives a subtle "message received" and starts thinking about leaving.
Ed's words the next morning make so much sense and hold so much weight in this context. " Prepare for the next adventure... I can't stay around here forever. Besides, a ship has only one captain." Ed got rejected last night and so now he's making plans to move on.
Stede's response (after a brief interruption from Roach) seems clear too. "Hey, listen, don't feel as though you need to rush out on my account. I mean, we're all enjoying your company here." He's letting Ed know that just because he rejected him that doesn't mean he's running him off. He's not going to make Ed leave or kick him out of the friend group.
This leads to Ed's last response of this interaction. "Mate, I know, I know. Me too. Uh, just, you know, I've stayed longer than I figured I would, and I just wasn't built for sitting idle, man." This is a polite fiction they're sharing in, an excuse for Ed to leave and get the space he needs without making Stede out to be the bad guy or forcing Ed to make himself vulnerable by admitting how much the rejection hurt him.
Stop. Rewind. The night before, Ed expressed his interest in Stede in a way that was very blatant IF you speak queer-coded gay subtext. Stede does not speak that language; he's never had the chance to learn before. He wasn't rejecting Ed, because he had no idea anything was on offer. So to him, Ed's plans to leave come out of nowhere, and the only explanation he has is the "only on captain" comment, immediately reinforced by Roach being confused as to which of them is captain.
This is what Stede is actually speaking to. Don't rush off on my account is him expressing that he, as the other captain in this two captain situation, is not bothered by it at all. And he reassures Ed the crew is fine with it too. There's no reason Ed has to leave.
Stede recognizes Ed response as a polite lie. Of course he does; you think Stede hasn't been subjected to hundreds, thousands, of polite dismissals in his life. Stede is too much, not enough, too soft, so weird, so boring. And to get brushed off by Ed, Stede's first friend, the one person that he thought understood him, that's devastating.
Stede has to keep Ed as a friend, so he does the only thing he can think to do: Be Better. It's never worked before, but it has to work this time, so it will. Stede will Be Better.
He finds the treasure map, excited to bring Ed the next adventure he was going to go out searching for. But Ed is still brushing him off, pretending that the map isn't real (of course it's real! its got tatty edges!) saying he wants to take a nap. Which fine, if Ed wants to keep throwing all these polite excuses at Stede, then Stede is going to use them against him. Ed said there can only be one captain? Fine, then Stede is the captain and he's going to make Ed come with him on this adventure to fix their friendship and prove that Stede can Be Better.
Except, stop, wait. Ed is not giving Stede the brush off. Remember, to Ed, Stede reject him last night and now Ed is expressing the desire for a little space. And even if he's not willing to say outright that he was hurt by the rejection, in expressing the desire at all, he is implying it. And now Stede is ignoring Ed's request for space and throwing Ed's own vulnerability back in his face to force him to come along. What an unbelievable asshole move.
Ed is pissed now, of course. He's being forced to spend time with someone who just rejected him to do something he wasn't interested in doing at all, and he didn't even get lunch! So he's pissy, but it's because Stede is being dick, so he doesn't care who knows it.
And then Lucius calls Ed a dick. And suddenly the whole situation gets flipped. Stede put this day together for Ed, presumably because he took Ed's comments about the next adventure and sitting idle as a serious expression of desire, and tried to deliver on that. Does Stede actually return Ed's feelings after all? Does it matter? Stede is Ed's friend who deeply cares about him, and that is a relationship worth preserving.
Meanwhile poor Stede is at the end of his rope. He tried to Be Better, and once again he failed. He always fails. Except now suddenly Ed has changed his mind. Does Stede know why Ed flipped scripts out of nowhere? Again, does it matter? Ed is here now, putting in the effort to engage with Stede and cheer him up. He's Stede's friend again; everything is going right again.
The day ends well enough that Stede is willing to reach out once more that evening. It is perhaps part apology for using Ed's words against him earlier that day, part offer, and part request. "I don't know if I, well agree that a ship can only have one captain."
Ed hears the offer clearly this time, and makes one of his own, "Yes, well, I suppose if you found the absolutely two perfect people, then they could potentially…"
And then, finally, after a long day of hurt and talking past each other, now together, in every sense, they say,
Co-captain.

i cant go to sleep until i release the thoughts so here they are. im sorry if this is a bit more nonsensical or rambleish than my other ones, im very very tired but anyway
this is going to be a bit upsetting for the lovey-dovey sunshine and rainbows crowd but people give red guy and duck WAYY too much credit when it comes to their relationship (or at least how it used to be) like they DID NOT //start out// functional AT. ALL. they used to go together like a car and a tree. and honestly this makes them even more interesting
They’re both insecure in different areas, and they react differently to these insecurities as well. from what ive gathered, red guy dislikes how “odd” he is. he tries to act bitter and uncaring about everything and everyone, either to fit in with the other red things, or to keep himself distracted or distanced from the world hes stuck in. he distances himself from his friends as well. this is a horrible contrast with ducks outward and open love of his friends (despite how horribly he treats them lmao but i digress) duck reveals in the family episode that despite loving himself, he wants other people to love him too. duck is not necessarily insecure in himself, hes the best one after all, but he does feel very lonely. he feels like nobody loves him as much as he loves himself, like the only person he truly has is himself because nobody else is willing to love him. this obviously makes him feel very alone. this is why red guys denial and dismissal of his friends hits ducks insecurities harshly and directly, even if its not intentional.
once i got to the fridge scene during my first watchthrough i was very confused. firstly because i was utterly flabbergasted that they were gay for some reason (i had never even considered it), and secondly because ducks reply caught me off guard. duck is a very full-of-himself character. so why would he be surprised to find out someone likes looking at him? shouldnt he reply with something like “well yeah duh you big stupid idiot im the prettiest and the best etc etc”?? well i understand now why duck reacted that way. he doesnt get many compliments from anyone but himself, probably talking in the mirror. and he ESPECIALLY hadnt gotten many compliments from red guy at this point. red guy denied being his friend very adamantly. EVEN AT HIS FUNERAL. HIS FUNERAL!!! and yes red guy does realize he misses duck eventually, but duck isnt even there to see it, and when he comes back he finds himself literally replaced?? (like.. red guy ur fumbling so hard right now. fumbling straight into a divorce. and ur not even married yet man. but anyway, back on topic)
slowly throughout the series red guy starts being more open, and whether he realizes it or not his whole uncaring act isnt that good to begin with. my favorite small detail during the funeral is that red guy calls the plates “our plates” without even realizing it, right in the middle of denying his best-friendship with duck. like dude who do you think youre fooling other than yourself!?
with all of this considered, despite red guys poor performance of denial, it’s perfectly understandable for duck to be surprised when red guy openly confesses his honest emotions. an up-front confession of feelings is not something red guy ever wants or allows himself to do, so duck was probably confused as hell.
my favorite part of this scene is how red guy is looking away when he says it, still clearly embarrassed but saying it anyway. this is a HUGE deal for his character. it was a character development that had been slowly growing throughout the tv series, and by episode six i think it was as close to completion as its ever been. he does pull the whole “its fine just ignore it” thing with duck earlier in the episode, but he does it more to calm him down in this context. the fridge scene confirms to me that red guy has almost stopped running, not necessarily from the house, but from his friends. he has finally let himself love them. hes finally let himself admit not just to himself, but to duck, that hes important to him.
this is why i think theyre so interesting, because these two characters are cynical assholes. that’s how becky and joe have described them at times. these characters are not the best of people, theyre both messed up people in a messed up and confusing world, so of course they wont be perfect. but thats the beauty of it. they dont want to hurt eachother, so they try their best to change. they try their best to fight against the cruelty of their minds and surroundings and let themselves love eachother even if only for a second, even if in the end it wont really matter
ok im going to sleep now goodnight

Fellverse Collars
Okay… here we go! This was one of the first rants I ever made that was actually useful somewhere along the way instead of just being what it was… a rant to my closest of close people who GET the fandom (AKA: the only person willing to listen to me and put up with my crap at that time in the morning and still talked to me the day after despite the previous 5+ hours I’d been asking at them. When they are still willing to respond to your messages 4h later- 9am -you KNOW they’re a keeper) So I figured here is as good a place and time to start as any…
[Especially considering I was TODAY years old when they let me know that discord chats have a SEARCH function… anyone else been spamming the ‘page up’ button for hours like your life depended on it? HANDS UP ✋]
SO without further ado~
I bring to you my explanation of the meanings of collars in the different fellverses! [This will be heavily based in the UTMV if you hadn’t guessed - focusing on underfell; Edge and Red, and fellswap; Black (or interchangeably Razz) and Mutt]
So CONTEXT- I was brought into this rant by a question from a friend asking me to explain fell universe collars to them (obviously), since they’re mentioned quite a bit throughout the fandom where the fellverses are concerned, but the variation between the meanings really confused them, and its not like they really had a solid definition to depend and lean on for info on it because the concept was mainly based in fannon. So they came to me. Because I apparently give off the vibe of knowing this. Good thing I ACTUALLY had an answer lol
BASICALLY~~~
In the simplest of terms, quickest way I could put it, and perhaps one of the most obvious of facts: The collars are a sign of ownership.
Think of underfell’s resident skele bros (Most commonly known as Edge and Red throughout the fandom), Edge literally OWNS red.
This could be interpreted in a whole bunch of different ways, but it all boils down to Red being practically either a pet or just straight up property to Edge.
It’s there to send a message. If someone were to hurt red it would be the equivalent of property damage… Or kicking his puppy… It lets people KNOW that if they mess with Red, Edge is going to get, understandably, pissed. It’s a protective measure.
When it comes to fellswap the underlying theme of ownership is the same, but it’s the context that differs. While Edge has his status, it is mainly his formidable battle and trapping prowess and infamy that makes the collar an effective safety measure. When it comes to fellswap the protection the collar offers is more of a proof of subjugation and the rising of said ‘owners’ status.
In fellswap Mutt was was viewed as a fierce foe, whom of which the majority of the underground were terrified of, knowing him and his brother Black by the name of ‘the queens guard dogs’. Having Black collar Mutt raises Blacks own infamy and labels him as some untouchable higher power, despite the lowness of his HP, which ordinarily would spell death for a monster of his world.
Their world is one in which family ties mean next to nothing in the grand scheme of things, they were merely a weak point to exploit. The chink in their armour. It was either that of a form of unsteady alliance with trust in which you’d trust the other to turn on you in a heart beat when push comes to shove.
The collaring is the closest they could come to showing they could care. The only form of tie that holds meaning and makes you stronger. Someone that people wouldn’t want to mess with.
Although that is mainly interpretation based off of the way the fandom flows, while underfell is a little more reliably set fellswap if most DEFINITELY more of a concept than a set idea.
If you needed this cleared up hope it did that for you!
If you didnt… hope you at least found it either entertaining or informative enough to be worth the time spent reading this!

Hi there! You asked some HSR angst, well here you go! can i request Jing Yuan and Blade x s/o who was the royal guard and prince/ss of Khaenri’ah.
More context on reader:
They were the second born child of Khaenri’ah’s Royal Family and part of the royal guards. So somehow during the Cataclysm the reader was transported to the HSR universe. They were VERY traumatized of just what happenend and had put up an upbeat and plucky personality as a coping mechanism for what happened. They traveled the universe for sometime before they met Jing Yuan/Blade and ofc learned of Aeons. They dont like the Aeons and any mention of them would get rid of their upbeat facade quickly. They associate the Aeons with the Archons that destroyed their nation, now they know they arent the gods that did it but they cant help it. Basically Dainsleif’s attitude to anthing archon related but much chiller? Bc again they’re not the same ones who destroyed their nation so their willing to give them a very small benefit of the doubt.
How would they react to their s/o revealing their past and immortality to them after they had snapped at someone for something (probably aeon related that hit a bit too to home?) and became distant towards everyone for while. They tearfully revealed their past and then later go on a rant about their hatred toward gods. Also how would their lover react hearing about the curse (The pureblood and the half blood/non blood khaeri’ahns) the people of Khaenri’ah received.
How would they react towards their s/o being suicidal because the erosion that the curse cause them to have is THAT bad they just wanted to die but cant bc they cant die from being murdered as they can self regenarate or from old age. (Think of the demons from kimetsu no yaiba, like when yushiro got his head decapitated, yeah im pretty sure their lover saw their head get regenerated like one time)
Hope you enjoy this angsty request and have a good day/night!
- Flower Anon 🌸

A/N: I re-read this 5 times, but for some reason my brain refused to process any of it, so I hope this still turns out okay lmao... thank you for the request tho and sorry for the long wait.
Content: Angst, hurt/comfort, established relationships, some rough description of the Khaenri'ah curse thing, small mentions of reader being suicidal
Reader has no set pronouns!

》Jing Yuan
Tumblr media
Jing Yuan always silently questioned your past and often wondered why you were so secretive about it. However, he also respected your boundaries and therefore never pushed you for any answers, as he knew how sensitive some topics were. But when you one day just snapped at someone for the simple mention of the Aeons and God's, he started slowly piecing together your story on his own. It definitely also helped, that you eventually just spilled everything to him.
He was understanding and supportive, horrified to hear about the curse and it's consequences. He had heard of and seen many evil things, but this still shocked him. Especially after learning what the curse did to you as well. He was deeply upset when he heard about your want to die and despite understanding it, he still made sure you knew how important you were to him.
He tried making you see the bright side of it at least, as the curse gave him the opportunity to spend an endless lifetime with you at his side, something he deeply wished for. And he was glad, that he could, even with it being a horrible curse that allowed him to be.
-----♡
》Blade
Tumblr media
Blade didn't really care about your past at first, as you never seemed to care about his. It was a mutual understanding between you two to just not mention it and try moving past it together, despite Blade's need for revenge. And at first, he was content with that, until he noticed your strong disdain for God's/Aeons. This confused him, as he didn't understand what it was that bothered you so much, until you eventually broke down and told him about it in a long rant.
He listened to you quietly, as you spoke about your people and their curse. About how you were sick of living and just wanted to finally rest. About how you were just really done with everything. And he understood you perfectly. He really did. Especially as he himself was cursed to immortality and wanted to die more than anything. The fact that you felt the same as him brought him more solace than anything in this world ever could.
But that's exactly why he also was so adamant on you continuing on even through your curse. After meeting you, he realised that immortality may not be as bad as he originally thought, especially when it's just spent with you. He'll help you get your revenge, as long as you promise to stay with him forever too.
-----♡
A/N: I'm genuinely praying this is even slightly coherent. Sorry for the wait Flower Anon and thank you again for the request!

Okay, listen. Just gimme a second here on the whys of William Schenk's introduced persona(enormous case building for a headcanon incoming, be warned!).
We could go on and on about the reason of why William decided to present himself as a married man; in the context of evoking a sense of companionship, there's something to be said about the social pressures and the status of being married. Zeke's quick to talk about what being married means to a cop after all— although it's also curious that he presents himself as happily married, a dedicated father while Zeke himself's going through custody fights and a divorce.
It does make me think of what William wants Zeke to understand about him, ready for serious commitment and sharing responsabilities, he's willing to put in the work so to speak. There's a softer, loving and protective side of him — one he hasn't shared with many ever since his father's death, I bet — that he'll gladly show Zeke(and we only see him talk about his fake family with him).
But that's not enough of a motive, so let's go for the angle of what marriage represents.
Marriage's not just a symbolic, romantic act but the union of two citizens, both Zeke and William giving the impression during Spiral that they do perceive it as something that's supposed to be a conscious choice you make that has value, it's worth it; William could've presented himself as married then not just to show that he's 100% for loyalty and commitment but also that he's not that kid Zeke backstabbed Dunleavy for anymore.
He's not William Emmerson and he doesn't need Zeke to protect him or confuse the child he was to the man he is now(which adds another layer to his relishing of Zeke's anger and acceptance of each blow, the rawness of the moment leaves nothing to interpretation, they are in EQUAL standing—); he's evolved since their last time together. Zeke, none the wiser, eases his worries slightly when dismissing William's comment:
"Hey, man, I get it. I wouldn't want to be stuck with a kid either."
[Zeke stops to really look at him.]
"You don't want to be my partner."
Which he says after probably hearing Zeke's commentary(they weren't really trying to be quiet in there) on showing the ropes to a rookie, saying he doesn't want to be a 'nanny'. A subtle poke to Zeke's apparent expectations of him— testing the waters as if to see how much of a problem this will be. It's not about age though, or really about William in itself(as I've theorized in another post) and William proves himself valuable in the little time they have, as evidenced by Zeke's own words.
"Hey, William. Good work today."
There's the 'easiest assumption' that William really just used it as a disguise for the tattoo of his father's name but there's no logical need for a loving wife there. Or a son for that matter— he could've tattooed the name of a sibling Zeke would vaguely hear about or a nephew; it would still hold the weight of someone that William supposedly goes back to when leaving the job, give Zeke a burden to carry in terms of thinking of a young detective with a family that he couldn't save.
So. It makes me think, that perhaps William just holds in himself so much hope for what they can be. So much faith in their connection, there's no one else for him but Zeke and he has known this for years. William's cunning and confident, he doesn't lie to himself about what he knows to be true but there lies an issue— well, isn't it him insisting Zeke's unfortunate predicament isn't an universal truth of life?
[Chuckles] "Just because you’re getting a divorce, it doesn’t mean that everyone else’s marriages have to end, too."
Which roughly matches their earlier talk, when he interjects Zeke's bitter perspective on it:
"'While it lasts'?"
"Nothing happier than the wife of a new detective, nothing more angry than that same bitch ten years later."
"Maybe it’s ’cause you call them bitches."
The same way William's invested in taking Zeke by his shoulders and shoving him out of his defeated attitude towards the corruption in the system and guiding him to action, he's also prodding at Zeke's waning faith in partnership. It's not because his marriage didn't last that Zeke's never going to find the one person capable of staying loyal to him to the end... that he won't realize what he needs is right in front of him.
William's hopeful, obsessively devoted and has specifically planned his killing spree with luring Zeke, having him by his side, in mind… so, if he presents himself as a married man? If his and Zeke's hands rest close together on the table in whatever place they'd stopped for lunch or at Zeke's desk, when they squeeze next to each other to watch the spiral killer's tape, and their golden bands look just about similar enough to be a pair… it's just bound to be.

Most of Grant's solo is motivated by his need to learn who his real parents were. But even though he does find out the truth, his relationship with the parents he never got to meet (or rather with the idea of them, with what could have been) never quite gets resolved, and I would love to see this revisited now that he's alive again in recent comics.
After a lot of dead ends and red herrings, Grant finally learns from Vandal Savage, who was responsible for the experimentation done on Grant and for placing him with the Emersons, that his real parents were Al Pratt (the Atom) and his wife Mary James.
Mary was murdered shortly after giving birth, her baby was taken away to be experimented upon, and Al had no idea that any of this had happened. He died in the Zero Hour event, about twelve hours before Grant got dragged in to save the day. They so narrowly missed each other!
Grant, like most of us, isn't well-informed about every obscure Golden Age JSA hero, so this revelation doesn't have any context for him. He knows his parents' names, but feeling actually connected to them...? Not so much.
Tumblr media
(Damage #12)
It gets even more complicated with the additional reveal that although the Pratts were his biological parents, he was injected with the DNA of many other superheroes. The primary donor of these was J'onn J'onzz (Martian Manhunter), but Grant is also genetically related to
Barry Allen (Flash)
Johnny Chambers (Johnny Quick)
Arthur Curry (Aquaman)
Joan Dale-Trevor (Miss America)
Jay Garrick (Flash)
Ted Grant (Wildcat)
Carter Hall (Hawkman)
Shiera Hall (Hawkgirl)
Hal Jordan (Green Lantern)
Ted Knight (Starman)
Dinah Drake Lance (Black Canary)
Dinah Laurel Lance (Black Canary)
Libby Lawrence (Liberty Belle)
Charles McNider (Doctor Mid-Nite)
Ray Palmer (Atom)
Alan Scott (Green Lantern)
Rex Tyler (Hourman)
So not only does Grant have parents whom he knows nothing about, but he also has eighteen other "parents," some living, some dead, whose combined DNA has contributed to the powers he's still trying to adjust to. So many good people whose child he could technically be considered, and yet he still ended up raised by the abusive Emersons, who had no real connection to him. It's a lot to process. He is overwhelmed and confused--but he still wants to make contact with his real parents in the only way he can now.
He asks to be taken to their graves.
Tumblr media
(Damage #15)
Several of his JSA "fathers" (Jay Garrick, Alan Scott, Ted Grant, and Ted Knight) come to the cemetery to meet him and try to make some sense of the situation. This information is just as new to them as it is to Grant, but they do seem willing to accept him and bring him into the JSA legacy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This would have been an interesting direction to take the story: having the entire JSA take on Grant as their collective child. He used to have no real family, and now he's part of many families! But this is a dynamic that never gets to happen, for whatever reason. Although Grant does picture something like it in an illusory sequence. It's what he wants: acceptance into a family.
Tumblr media
(JLA Titans #2)
But by the end of his solo, he's on his own, although he makes a point of seeking out Albert Rothstein, his father's godson, for information about his father--which we can assume Albert was only too happy to give. He and Al were very close.
We don't get to see here how hearing about how someone else got to have a warm, quasi-parental relationship with the father Grant never got to meet might have affected Grant, but remember this for later.
Tumblr media
(Damage #20)
During Grant's hiatus from the Titans, he and Jesse Quick have an encounter with some malevolent beings who impersonate people from their past. Grant sees his parents and hears something from his father that he probably has always wanted to hear.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Titans 1999 #45)
But he's still enough in possession of his faculties to question it with the painful truth. His father never met him. Never knew about him. Couldn't have cared about him. And what does that leave him with? His foster parents and their "love" that came with abuse.
Tumblr media
His real parents died before they could know him. His foster parents failed him. His JSA parents either are dead or haven't done much to actually support him after his time with the Titans and the fight that scarred his face. By the time Grant is a young adult and has joined the JSA (who all seem to have forgotten that they're technically related to him), he's harboring a lot of bitterness toward his father.
Tumblr media
(Justice Society of America 2007 #3)
He insists he's not following in his father's footsteps, and he is adamant about not taking up his father's mantle. He is Damage.
There's some inconsistency in this panel (Grant knew nothing whatsoever about Al Pratt before finding out they were related), but it's made clear that the bitterness comes from feeling abandoned and disconnected.
Tumblr media
(Justice Society of America 2007 #16)
This resentment comes to a head after Grant has joined the cult of a villain who restored his face. This change in loyalties has caused a lot of trouble for the JSA. Albert tries to do the brotherly thing and talk some sense into Grant by reconnecting him to his father.
Tumblr media
(JSA Kingdom Come Special: The Kingdom #1)
Which is something that should have happened a long time ago! Grant should have gotten the opportunity to see his parents' house and artifacts. It would have been a way to connect, especially at a time when he was more open to that, but for whatever reason that didn't happen, and he's in no frame of mind to accept this as a kindness.
Instead he projects his own jealousy onto Albert, destroys his father's belongings, uses a term for his father that is both very rude and inaccurate, and deliberately blows up the entire house.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(JSA Kingdom Come Special: The Kingdom #1)
This level of maliciousness is not normal for him, and of course it's exacerbated by the influence of the villain he's currently following, but still...he's way out of line. This is him at his absolute worst. Accidental destruction has left him with a lot of guilt before. But how does he feel knowing that he let his anger get so out of hand that he obliterated so many physical ties to his father's memory--things that meant something, if not to him, then to his almost-brother?
Well, it's never directly addressed. But he does seem to have some guilt when faced with a memorial to his father.
Tumblr media
(Blackest Night #1)
During the Blackest Night event, when Grant encounters the Black Lantern version of his father (basically an evil zombie), "Al" spouts all of Grant's frustrations with him.
And Grant responds with what Albert tried to remind him of. His father didn't know about him. It wasn't his fault. This is some small progress.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Blackest Night #4)
In fact, if Al had known about Grant, things would have been incredibly different. The Pratts were evidently desperate to have children, since they were still trying for one so late in life (Grant would have been born in the late 1970s, and the Pratts would have been in their fifties by then if they were college-age in the early 1940s, which doesn't make a lot of sense for the established timeline, but whatever the case, the point still stands: older-than-usual first-time parents).
Before Al even married, he was already eager to find out if he and Mary would have kids and his reaction to learning that they'd have "at least one" is excitement.
Tumblr media
(The New Golden Age #1)
Was it confidence in this prophecy that kept the Pratts trying for a baby for so long?
If Al's relationship with Albert is any indication of what he would have been like as a father, he would have been a good one. And he would have been outraged if he knew what the Emersons did to his son. If editorial mandate had not ensured that Zero Hour went the way it did, there could have been an eventual father-son reunion that would have taken Grant's solo in a completely different direction.
But that didn't happen, and Al is still dead in the current continuity. Grant, however, was last seen in the company of one of the newly restored lost children. Is he going to adopt a mentor role now? Will that require him to reconsider his own relationships with all the father-figures he had/could have had?
At any rate, a good step for him might be to address his name. After finding out about his complicated parentage, he felt that Damage was the only name he had left. But that's not true.
What if he dropped "Emerson," the name of the people who abused him, a symbol of all that painful baggage he's been carrying around? What if he instead chose to proudly use his birth name: Grant Albert Pratt?

My OCs as Flatmates, Part 1
Includes: Chandrah/Charlie, Raevyn, Sherry
Tumblr media
A bit ago, I asked you guys about who you'd like to see for this topic (and I'm still asking, by the way, hop into the replies and tell me who you'd like to see) and both @fluffle-system and @daughter-of-melpomene said...
↬ Chandrah !
Oh boy! You've invited a demon to your house, congratulations!
Charlie, I feel like, would be a fun roommate. I assume this is after GB II, so he'd already relatively well adjusted, but they're still... not human.
Like, my boy™ barely sleeps at all. This means that, yes, you can come to them at any time of day or night and be relatively sure that he's awake. And even if he isn't, they're not that hard to wake up and they don't get grumpy if you do wake him up. However, it also means that he might be noisy at night. Not even intentionally. But if your flat has thin walls, you'll hear them rummaging around the kitchen or taking a shower in the middle of the night. You might also be faced with some confusing situation at times because he hasn't master all situations of human behaviour yet. Also, they eat the weirdest things sometimes.
Aside from that though, he 100% has your back, no matter what happens. They're loyal as ever. Whatever you need, he's got you. Need help moving in? Charlie is strong as balls, he'll carry your stuff. Shitty ex? How do you want to give the bastard payback - are we thinking of a fake dating scenario, do you just want someone to come with you somewhere just in case, do you want them beaten up, humiliated...? Charlie will probably also curse and/or haunt the ex, let's be honest.
Also, he's a literal (former) Ghostbuster. If you get a nightmare or think you're cursed or haunted or something, he'll take you seriously. Or any irrational fear, really, because they've seen a lot of things and are willing to believe a lot of things. Charlie will probably go through the routine Ghostbuster questionnaire with you to determine if it's a ghost or not and what kind of ghost and then go from there. They'll cheer you up and make you feel safe before confronting the specter. Even if you accidentally summoned a demon or something, Chandrah is also a demon, it'll deal with it.
Depending on whether you know that Charlie is secretly a demon or not, you might also see them floating around sometimes and he'll use his demonic powers for tasks or to help you. It's normal. They might even show you their demonic form if you ask nicely.
Definitely would want to spend a lot of time with you. He's a bit clingy but understands if you need some space. Would also be fine with just coexisting in the same room as you if you don't have the time or energy to do anything special.
As to how you got into this flatshare situation, I'm pretty sure that Charlie would've put out the ad and it's his house/apartment. Charlie, being a demon and (former) Ghostbuster, is pretty rich and would be able to afford living on their own, but they want a flatmate because they feed off human affection and they get bored when they're alone for too long. He probably didn't put his name in the ad because he is more or less famous and you probably wouldn't figure out it's them until you come over to take a look at the apartment before deciding if you want to move in. But they're super nice and humble about their Ghostbusters experiences and will be really glad to share stories with you. A baseline belief in the paranormal is probably a requirement for living with him though.
Tumblr media
Next person! @enterprise-come-in asked for...
↬ Raevyn !
We're assuming a Planetary Union context here and not just Raevyn somehow dropping in on our present day. Probably, you're both studying at Union Point.
One thing that needs to be very clear to you and that she tells you right away is that you will have very little privacy. She can't help it, she's a telepathic species and she's gonna know all of your secrets sooner or later. You can't really keep anything from her.
BUT this also means that she knows exactly what's wrong when you're down and how to help you and you best believe she'll do it. She's there to comfort you, whenever, wherever. Has your routines memorized after a few weeks, knows your comfort foods and shows, adapts to your needs really well.
Generally, Raevyn is really considerate but, like with any flatmate, you'll also have to deal with some nonsense from her. Since this is her Union Point era, she's gonna have quite a few crushes and partners, and you might have to deal with a good bit of relationship drama. Not an obscene amount, but definitely more than average. She also probably forgets to do the dishes every once in a while. Just remind her to do them and it's all good.
Activities! Don't expect to go to the pool or the beach with her, she's still in her phase where she's hiding her aquatic heritage. But aside from that, she's down for pretty much anything. She'd love to learn about your culture and show you hers and meet your friends and have you meet hers and... But she's also down for more relaxing activites like bord games or video games or movies or just talking. Would also be a pretty good study buddy.
Raevyn would be the best person to have as backup if you want to go on a date but you're kinda worried about it and the person seems sketchy. My girl is ready to beat anyone up for you, whether that be verbally or physically. She's also a walking taser, so she could end the conflict before it even started if you don't want a scene. Would also teach you martial arts if you want. Generally, she has a lot of relationship drama herself, so she definitely understands yours. You can gush about your crushes and cry about breakups together.
Also! Raevyn is quite literally the least problematic person when it comes to gender identities and sexuality and whatnot. It's in her culture to know that everyone's mind and feelings work differently and being attracted to different things is normal and gender is an infinite spectrum. The idea that there could be only two sexes and genders and that anything that isn't heterosexuality is a sin or something is completely wild and offensive to her. Personally, she's bisexual and will also 100% go to pride parades and festivals with you, even if she doesn't fully understand the history and mentality behind them. She would also do really well with neurodivergency, disability and other similar things. Do you know that situation where you're really frustrated at people just not understanding that you can't do a thing because you have no spoons left? This will never happen with Raevyn. Because she knows. She understands. She might not be neurodivergent or experience something similar but, because she's a telepath, she understands what you're going through and will adapt accordingly as much as she can.

Last person for this part is...
↬ Sherry !
... because @novemberhope shares a birthday with her!
Oh boy, this is actually gonna be a bit tough to answer, because... well, first of all, this means that you're in the Mario Universe. Funky shenanigans. Maybe you got Mario Movie style isekai-ed into it? (Disclaimer: I haven't actually watched the movie.) Either way, Sherry probably wasn't planning on having a flatmate but would gladly take you in.
The thing is, Sherry is a princess and was raised with the knowledge that she is a princess. But she wasn't raised at the palace, she was raised in some cottage in the middle of nowhere. Generally, living with her would be weird but fun. Because she's very kind and all but she has some quirks. For one, her sister is literally the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom and she's next in line for the throne. But Sherry couldn't care less about royal formalities and whatnot and doesn't really spend time around the palace. Still, you'll notice. If you go anywhere together, the attention will be on her and you'll be overlooked. As such: Don't think about throwing a joined birthday party. You might get an amazing cake from Princess Peach and a whole lot of famous people will be there, but it will no longer be your day. It's about her now.
Also, the whole kidnapping situation? Sherry's sister Peach constantly gets kidnapped by a guy and Sherry somehow works for the guy? Like, she babysits his son or something? Awkward...
What this means though is that, should you ever get in trouble with some evil forces or the King of the Koopas, Sherry has your back. Either she'll solve the issue herself or she'll get the Mario Brothers on the case. No problem.
Anyways, back to everyday situations: I feel like Sherry is a no nonsense sort of person (well, as much as you can be in the Mushroom Kingdom) and probably likes things to be in order, so if you leave your dishes out in the kitchen or whatnot, she won't be happy. But she's also the type who'll say something if she doesn't like something, so you won't get stuck in a silent war or anything. Also, she's not the type to hold grudges. See the "working for the guy who kidnaps her sister" situation. Whatever mistakes you make, she'll forgive you. Also, you'll never have financial troubles! She's a princess, she's rich, and she'll lend you money if you need it.
Whereas her sister likes to bake, Sherry likes to cook. You might cook together a lot if that's a thing you're into, or she'll make you homecooked meals for when you get home or just... whenever. I feel like she'd also be really good at mixing drinks, so great for when you're having parties! She also takes you kart racing, golfing, to football games, tennis, board game nights... whatever you like!
Oh yeah, Sherry also just leaves sometimes to go on an adventure or save or sister or go on vacation or whatnot, so you'll have the house to yourself a lot.
Tumblr media
So yeah, that's it for part 1! Please tell me who else you'd like to see! Part 2 will be out soon, maybe there'll be a part 3 if I get enough requests for people, who knows!
Taglist: @starcrossedjedis @oneirataxia-girl @daughter-of-melpomene @bravelittleflower @box-of-bats - let me know if you’d like to be added or removed!

Ayo.. could i request an angsty/fluffy Ike eveland of, you confessing, him being unsure.. and right as you're about to leave, he SEES: his heart does indeed want you.
"𝙈𝙮 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩... 𝙞 𝙜𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙞 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪, 𝙞𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙨 𝙛𝙖𝙨𝙩."
Tumblr media
IKE EVELAND ୨୧⸝⸝
【contains: angst, happy ending!!】
context: you confess to ike, as ike tried to reject you, he hesitates.
Tumblr media
ike walks down the road, trying to find YOU. you had called him saying that you needed something. confused as he is, he was already outside, trying to find where your exact location was. he wonders where you hide, not getting where 'somewhere we loved to go' was.
ike never really liked going out, although the time he only likes going out is with a friend. you were one his trusted, if not, MOST trusted friend. yep. a friend. huh.
as it turned dark, lights filled the city. still trying to find you, ike keeps searching and searching until he could see a figure with ______ coloured hair. he sighed as it took him way too long to spot you.
"(name)!" ike calls out. hearing him, you could feel the heat from your face, cheeks turning pink by the second.
"ike! i wanted to tell you something..."
"what is it?"
you took a deep breath before you said your next line.
"ike. i like- no. i 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 you. i know you'll reject me so please make it quick." you hesitantly say, a huge weight held your heart in place as you wait, nervously.
"i'm... so sorry (name), you're one of my best friends—
𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙥
and i know that this might hurt you
𝙣𝙤 𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚.
but i can't give back those feelings you feel for me."
ike saying that broke your heart.
"oh no no, its fine!" it wasnt. your heart shattered in a million pieces. you knew he would most likely say that but you still saddened at his words.
although, you werent the only person feeling this. ike felt. uneasy. usually when someone he didnt knew well confessed to him, he normally didnt feel like that, he does feel a little guilty. so why does he feel really terrible? why did his heart feel... empty?
"i-i'll just go, sorry for wasting your time." running. running away from getting more humiliated. running away from your one and only crush.
his heart ached. why? why did his heart do this? as the puzzle gets solved he finally realised. 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪.
running after you, the rain soaked his sweater. even though water soon soaked his beautiful hair, he didnt really care much. he needed to get to you. he needed YOU.
Tumblr media
ike makes it to your home. he reaches for the key under your mat and enter your house. closing the door after him incase there was someone willing to rob you.
"(name)?? are you here?" ike calls out. although, your sobs and cries were enough to him that you were suffering. his heart strings pull in guilt as he steps infront of your door.
"darling... please talk to me."
silence. the silence was cut with the a sniff, before he could hear a response.
"ike. leave. please, im fine."
he would. but he really wanted to know if you were fine in there. it certainly didnt sound like it.
"(name) please... i-i realised that not only were you one of my best of friends but without realising you, i also fell inlove with you.."
silence again.
"so please... open the door for me?"
after ikes request, the door opened to a ______- haired figure. his eyes widen as you pull him into a hug. your head snooping in his neck, sobbing happily.
"you know, my heart? I guess that everytime i see you my heart beats fast..."

I recently started the path of the infernal or demonic path. Lord Abaddon and Lord Astaroth were shown in a reading to be Infernal Deities (I see them as deities I feel that respects them more) wanting or would like be my patrons. Lord Abaddon's voice telepathically is calm to me, any way. Any advice for a novice who is starting out? Sorry if this is long and such.
Hi and thankyou for the ask. This will be a bit of a longer response. So just to begin, I wanted to just ask some questions to get a better idea of where you are at in order to advise on this. Have you worked with other spirits or deities before? Also about the reading; was it done by yourself or by someone else? And if by someone else do they regularly work with demonic divne?
So what I will suggest for now is based upon the information you have provided in the ask. Personally I would suggest if you have never worked with spirits of deities before- it is not the best idea to start with demons- given the level of energies and that if you do not have established forms of communication (divination and also psychic senses etc) that you can use, it can lead to quite a bit of confusion and difficulties in moving forward. If this is the case- then beginning with local land or plant spirits or a deity you feel drawn to- can be a good place to begin. Other than that- if you have worked with other spirits and beings- then I would suggest reading S Connolly’s “Complete Book of Demonolatry” and her other series as the best place to begin in understanding how to connect and work respectfully with the demonic divine. Do not follow the Solomonic teachings (outlined in the Lemegton- lesser and greater keys of Solomon etc) or Goetia workings as that is a very disrespectful system. I also do not recommend following EA Koettings work either. But that is more of a personal preference- however He seems to promote the vending machine idea of demons- which is kind of suspect.
As for the patron aspect of this. In working with demons it is not the same context as it is/can be in other pagan religions where the matron and patron are the primary beings you connect with and guide your path etc. In working with the demonic divine- the relationships tend to start out as more mentoring then patronage. You may or may not end up with a patron ( it is not any better or worse either way- just different)- but usually demons do not tend to claim “patronage” at the beginning of ones journey. And so, in the beginning I would suggest just focusing on getting to know the demonic divine and how to work with Them, getting a regular practice- instead of necessarily focusing on having or finding a patron.
I would suggest also using your own intuition and guidance and maybe the system S Connolly outlines in her books for choosing which demons to connect with, rather then a potentially more nebulous reading on it. And it is also likely that you will come into contact with quite a few demons on this path as well- some being teachers and mentors-which can be more long term, and some only staying around for a short time.
As for the two demonic divine mentioned: Lord Abaddon and Astaroth (Astarte/Astoreth and Astaroth in my gnosis are the same being(I will refer to her as Lady here)- Astarte is the feminine yin aspect and the most often seen one, and Astaroth is the more yang aspect which seems to be present when She gets angry – but to each their own in how They appear) Lady Astoreth can be a bit more forgiving of those beginning, but She still expects a lot of respect and someone to know what they are doing when in contact with Her. She is also quite strict and formal. Lord Abaddon on the other hand ( who is my patron- and became that 5 years after I had started working with the demonic divine- to give an idea) I definitely do not recommend for beginners. He is very serious and formal, and also expects you to know what you are doing, and to do and be willing to do the work with Him. Also His energy is quite difficult and can be jarring and somewhat uncomfortable to deal with, it is very dark and very expansive. He also brings up and expects you to know and do shadow work on the regular and to deal with your own darkness. He can also be very harsh about things. He doesn’t sugar coat things and while there is understanding of the situation, He can be brutal in telling the truth of it and getting you to face the truth. He has almost no tolerance for those beginning and learning how to do things. (side note; what Lord Abaddon is suggesting to me for you; is that you work with and connect with someone easier first and work up to connecting with Him eventually (not necessarily as a patron though)- but don’t start with Him. It can be a goal. He may kind of watch or influence from the shadows for a while- if you continue on this path).
So what I would suggest is after research, then begin reaching out to the demonic divine and see how it goes from there, but don’t expect Them to be as patrons to you, maybe let go of that idea for now, and see Them more as potential mentors. As well as beings to build a relationship with and see if you “hit it off” and where it goes form there.
Finally; the basic way method to connect with the demonic divine. Most importantly is to approach Them with respect as the God Level divine beings/Kings/Queens/Rulers They are. It is also not the best idea to call on Them (esp in the beginning, though it can change as you become more familiar with Them if They agree) for no reason or for sh*ts and giggles- since this obviously lacks respect and indicates you don’t take this seriously. But basic connecting is as follows
try and set up an altar space for Them as it serves as a focal point for Their energies on this plane and for ease of connecting. It also shows Them respect
light a candle and some incense – to give as an offering, alongside tea or some other beverage ( if not tea, wine or sometimes coffee depending on who- will work) ( you can also have other offerings if you want)
Have Their sigil and enn on the altar
Welcome the Demonic Divine being to the space
Then you call upon them to be present; Basically you recite Their enn a few times until you recognise or feel their energy ( or feel guided to stop) while gazing at Their sigil.
The enn can be recited 9, 11 or more times if needed
It is important to recite the enn- not merely listen to it being recited on a video etc. As the reciting changes your vibration and attunes you more to the demonic divine. Which leads to you being able to connect more closely and receive clearer communication from Them.
Then once you recognise Their presence or feel the need/guided to stop, then you can present your offerings and commune with Them; either through divination, psychic senses etc. Or you can do ritual work, meditation here
After you are done thank Them for Their presence and connecting with you then say something along the lines of “may you go in peace” etc- kind of license to depart. But the Demonic Divine will usually stay or go as they please.
You may wish to- if it feels safer for you- to cast a circle. But in working with demons- the circle cast is to balance the energies of the space and encompasses both you and the demon. It is not to separate you and the demon, or keep the demon in the circle and you outside of it or vice versa. However circle casting is not necessary, and I have never done it just for communing tbh. But it may be beneficial in the beginning to help ensure you are getting the actual being you are calling and not a being masking as it (which can be common enough with darker energy types- since not many know how to distinguish the types of darkness). This does depend also on how energetically clean and warded the space you are calling Them in is. And that varies by individual. You can “banish” a space before and after if you wish- but again is not necessary. And sometimes it’s more beneficial to leave the residual energy of the demonic divine present.
Another thing about connecting with the Demonic Divine in the beginning- is there is an element of trust to this- that They are there or at least hear you. Even if it doesn’t always feel like it. But with practice you can learn to sense more.
It should be noted though; that the enn and sigil act like a calling card. (It doesn't guarantee Their presence however and really nothing does - as humans cannot force Them). Sometimes one of the Dark Lord or Ladies subordinates may show up instead of the actual being- They are just using that current of energy. It doesn’t matter so much in the beginning and really is only something to focus on if you want to tell the energies apart. Its not as though the calling or communication didn’t work. Its just something that may happen. Sometimes also The DLs may not show up either- as is Their purview ( They choose who They connect with and some are more picky then Others) and They may have something else going on. Its not as though you are not necessarily "heard" though. It is not often that such things happen though and for the most part you will connect with Them and They with you.
Also It can be preferable in the first few times connecting to spend time sitting in an attuning to the DLs energy. Then at later points you can eventually requesting something of Them. It is also important not to treat Them as wish-granting beings or like vending-machines. Such practices are quite disrespectful anyway. In long term demonic work, They don’t just give you things- you have to put in the work. But it also depends on your path with Them. Please also do not call the Demonic Divine in the triangle scrying method- from my experience the DLs I tried this with hated it and it messed with how Their energies came through and were presented.
In general also, once you have communication going- its best to listen to what that particular Demonic Divine being says about what They prefer etc, then going by what is done by or for others, since it is your relationship and path with Them not someone else’s. Also you don’t need to offer blood- esp at first its not recommended given how serious and powerful it is. Also do not offer sex, sex fluids etc unless They specifically ask or have said its okay. As some of the Demonic Divine quite dislike that.
I hope this has been beneficial and feel free to ask if more assistance is needed. I will help where I can.
Note: since this is posted publically- some of the information can be seen/used by others generally (except the specific part about what Lord Abaddon actually said- is specific to this person) But as usual this answer is for this ask specifically.

For the Fall Drabble Challenge:
Arcane for Prompt #1: Pumpkin Carving
LOTR for Prompt #9: Corn Maze
Tangled for Prompt #6: Boo!
(Thought I'd give you some variety 😁)
Oooh this is gonna be so much fun!!
#1: Pumpkin Carving
“DIE GOURD SCUM AHAHAHAHAHA!!!”
“Jinx, no! Put down the gu-…Put down Pow Pow.” Caitlyn instructed, yelling to be heard over the gunfire. As soon as she started, Jinx stopped shooting and glared over at Caitlyn.
“Well, what else am I supposed to do with it??” She asked pointedly.
“I told you, you carve it.” Caitlyn explained for what felt like the hundredth time.
“Ahh gotcha. Where’s the knife?” Jinx asked, and Caitlyn could feel her blood run cold for a moment.
“No, absolutely not. No knives.” Caitlyn quickly said, and Jinx let out a loud exaggerated groan of annoyance.
“Oh wait! I got it!” She suddenly cried, “I’ll be right back!”
“Where are you going?” Caitlyn asked wearily.
“Don’t worry about it!” Jinx called back as she ran out of the room. Caitlyn willed herself not to jump at the streaks of shimmer trailing behind the young Zaunite. A few minutes later Jinx came rushing back in with….a giant laser?!
“WHERE THE HELL DID YOU GET THAT?!” Caitlyn shouted over the roar of the laser.
“Don’t worry about it!”
“HOW ARE YOU EVEN CARRYING THAT?!”
“Shinmer!” Jinx chirped happily. When she was done, Jinx stared proudly at the monstrous looking Enforcer etched neatly into the pumpkin along with a wild monkey face.
9- Corn Maze
“So Pippin is..lost..in this thing somewhere?” Aragorn asked.
“In the corn maze, yes.” Frodo explained, “He gets lost every year.” Aragorn nodded in thought, then made his way into the maze. Plenty of hobbit children had been through the mud of the maze today, so this would prove to be a bit more difficult than hunting for a stag in the woods. Luckily, he knew Pippin’s footprints quite well by now.
“You think he’ll find him, Frodo?” Merry asked.
“It’s difficult to say. Pip is quite good at hiding in there.” Frodo replied, “Remember last year, when he jumped over the stocks? We couldn’t find him for hours.”
“I found him.” Aragorn suddenly appeared, holding Pippin like a ragdoll.
6- Boo! (For context this one includes some of my next gen ocs. In this Ronnie’s around a year old, Atlas and Orion are 3, and Jericho is 13)
Varian fought the urge to growl as he heard the door of his lab in the royal palace open.
“Hugo, I don’t have time for another project.” He snapped, “As soon as I finish this I have to get home to help decorate the house.”
However to his surprise he didn’t hear Hugo clear his throat or speak in that annoying know-it-all voice of his. Instead he heard the soft shuffling of feet, as if someone was trying to sneak up on him. Varian turned confused and saw…
“A-A SNEEZEWEASEL!!” He cried, scrambling out of his chair. But then the Sneezeweasel began to giggle. With a flash of bright blue light the Sneezeweasel disappeared to reveal his boys huddled in a cloak. Jericho snorted, while young Atlas and Orion giggled in glee, and little Oberon (or Ronnie as they called him) was squealing in Jericho’s arms.
“Boo!” Ronnie cried out happily, “Boo! Boo boo boo!”
“Looks like you learned a new word today little buddy.”
“Sorry, Daddy.” Orion giggled, “It was-“
“Jerry’s idea!” Atlas finished proudly.
“The old Cloak of Retudnus, eh? Not bad.” Varian praised, “Were you looking for this in the vault, Jer?”
“No.” Jericho said, although his tone gave him away, “I did find it though.” Varian simply nodded but smiled at his son nonetheless. Jericho was hardly interested in magic, but did use it for a prank or two sometimes.
“You boys just about ready to head home?” Varian asked as he gently took baby Ronnie in his arms. The boys all nodded in unison.
“I can’t wait to murder those fiddlesticking pumpkins.” Jericho said, grinning with almost wicked glee.
“Yay, murder!” Atlas cheered, bouncing excitedly.
“Atlas…no.” Varian barely stopped himself from laughing.

How BNHA boys would react to GN!Reader getting fired
Hey guys! I know it's been a while but I wrote some headcanons in a fit of anxiety about my job.
If there's enough interest I can definitely write for more characters!
I would absolutely love if I could get some suggestions of characters for this!
Cw: Comfort headcanons, Swearing, Reader gets fired, Hawks is intimidating, (comment if I forgot anything!)

Tumblr media
Katsuki Bakugou
Would immediately know when something was wrong, especially if you didn't call him or something you usually did during the day.
You went home afterward and cried, not even bothering to pick up your phone to call anyone.
After his patrol, Bakugou just about ran to your house; the poor boy was worried.
You never ghosted him like that, and he texted you multiple times with no answer.
He burst into your house in full hero uniform, ready to fuck someone up.
He is confused when he finds you crying on the couch and asks what's wrong.
Gets so angry that you have to wipe his hands down to stop him from blowing your couch up. Needs to be physically restrained for him not to kill your boss.
Truly hates how you were treated and immediately reassures you that everything will be ok.
Tumblr media
Izuku Midoriya
Almost had a panic attack when you called him crying. He was right in the middle of patrol, but Kacchan took over once he realized something was wrong.
Used OFA to get to your job where you were standing outside holding your belongings in a plastic box.
Izuku scowled and immediately hugged you tight, letting you cry into his shoulder. Asks what happened and listens to the whole story while scowling up at the building.
"He did what? Without any notice?" Izu ranted about your boss and the contract you signed, knowing everything about you and your personal matters.
"Wait right here. I'm going to give him a piece of my mind." He demanded, wrapping a gentle hand around your waist and kissing the side of your head. Before you could stop him, Izuku dashed up the side of the building, using his black whip to propel him up the glass.
You don't know what happened up there, but your boyfriend came back with a satisfied smile as he grabbed the box from you and held it as you walked.
"What did you-?" You asked. Izuku smiled and leaned over to you, kissing you on your cheek.
"Nothing bad, Bunny. I just told him what a stupid decision that was. Come on, let's go and get you set up at the agency. Kacchan cleared out an office for you."
Tumblr media
Shouto Todoroki
Shouto was actually with you when you got the email saying you were being let go. You were in his office at the hero agency and burst into frustrated tears as he cleaned up from lunch.
He wandered behind you to read over your shoulder, scowling as he did.
"An email? Only scumbags fire people through email."
You sniffled, putting your phone down as you could not hold it anymore. Worry coursed through you, and your brain went 100 mph until Shouto drew you into his arms and tried to soothe you.
"I'll take care of everything. Sit tight." Shouto kissed your temple and stood, pulling out his phone and stepping towards the other side of his desk.
You trembled, holding your phone tight as you watched him, only catching a few words of the conversation that didn't make sense without context. Once Shouto came back, he smiled in satisfaction.
"Who was that?" You asked, trying to stop the sob that wanted to escape.
"My father. He just bought your old employer's company and fired him. You are now his replacement." Shouto said matter-of-factly. He chuckled at the surprised look on your face.
"His old secretary is more than willing to settle you starting tomorrow. Apparently, none of them in the department liked him."
Tumblr media
Hawks
You were supposed to call Hawks at lunch, but the meeting with your boss took your entire lunch break. You were jobless and stood in your office at the end of it, crying as you packed it up.
The last thing on your mind was calling your boyfriend until you heard a shout of surprise from the desk near the elevator and a familiar voice calling out for you.
"Keigo?!" You cried as you saw him striding towards your door through the glass. He opened the door and stepped through, looking around for any threats that would have prevented you from calling him over an hour ago.
"You didn't call me. I was worried. Are you ok, Baby bird?" He asked, stepping into your personal space and wrapping his wings around you.
You didn't answer at first. Instead, you wrapped your arms around him and let his scent and soft chirps relax you. After a few minutes, you spoke against Keigo's shoulder.
"I'm sorry I forgot to call you. I've just been fired." You said with an emotional tremble in your voice.
"You WHAT?!" Keigo shouted, his wings puffing up indignantly as he backed up an inch or two to look at you. All you could do was nod and settle your face against his chest.
Keigo muttered under his breath, chirping angrily and running his fingers up and down your back and through your hair. You thought the angry grooming was cute, something he often did, like a mama bird. Your peaceful silence was interrupted by the hollow bang of a glass door.
"What is the meaning of this? I thought I told you that you were no longer welcome at this company, now you're causing a distur-..." Your angry ex-boss's words died in his throat as Keigo released you from the wing cocoon and turned to face the man, wings spread and feathers separated in rage.
"H-Hawks! F-Forgive me, I-I…!" Your boss stuttered, giving you a sense of retribution.
"Save it. Don't you dare speak to them that way, not after how you've treated them." Keigo seethed.
"You're lucky that I love them so much that I didn't want to fuck their career up, but now that you so carelessly fired them, I can report you to the hero commission."
You watched the blood drain from his face and saw the panic well up in his eyes.
"They told me all about the sexual harassment, the unnecessary late-night meetings, and the financial discrepancies in your reports to the hero commission."
Your satisfied smile grew, and you placed a hand on Keigo's back between his wings and stepped closer.
"Let's go, Keigo; Endeavor is waiting for us, isn't he?" You asked, turning to gather the rest of your things as your ex-boss made a choking noise.
Keigo chirped angrily and grabbed your box of things before storming out, leaving the miserable man in an empty office.

So what the hell was Marcus actually trying to say?
Let's talk about everyone's favorite scene! :D
Yes, that scene, the scene where Simon goes to break it off with Marcus. This scene is - I think I can speak for us all here - the moment where the whole fandom collectively started hating Marcus. Before that, we didn't like him, obviously, because Wilmon, but he seemed like an alright sort of guy.
But then he turned so WEIRD in this scene. He acted pushy, made assumptions about Simon's feelings, framed himself as a "nice guy", overstated their relationship, and emotionally manipulated Simon by bringing up his family trauma. OUT OF NOWHERE. Causing everyone to reinterpret his character, including all his past actions, into a more sinister light.
But, for he sake of analysis, let's give him and the writers the benefit of the doubt that he was actually trying to make a point here. What was he trying to say, what did he mean?
Let's take a look, picking up after Simon denies that he ever thought that Marcus would hurt him, that that was not the point (up til now Marcus is being kind of icky, but so far at least making sense):
[Simon] I just can't right now
[Marcus] Okay. No offense, but I just want to be honest with you. Maybe you don't have the best role models for healthy relationships, after your dad. Mom told me about how Linda was feeling after that thing with Micke, and I get that it must have been hard for you and Sara, but you are not like your dad.
Come here *hug*.
I know you don't want to destroy something this beautiful [A/N: BARF].
Ok so Simon has just told him he's not ready for anything serious, and then admitted that it's related to drama with Wilhelm. Marcus then says he knows that Wilhelm "fucked him over". So, when Marcus says that thing about role models and his dad, is it a comment on Simon and Wille's relationship? Implying that Simon is possibly attracted to turbulent/toxic relationships or flaky men, because he thinks that's how relationships are, and that is preventing him from seeing the good thing he and Marcus have going? But, he says "you are not like your dad" implying that Simon is worried that he is the toxic one here.
So then, is Marcus talking about his and Simon's relationship? Does he think Simon is pulling away because he's afraid of commitment, or afraid of treating Marcus poorly if he stays?
Genuinely curious to hear all of your opinions on what Marcus means by this statement! Please drop a comment or reblog or message me! Maybe I'm just dumb and it's obvious but I was actually so confused during this scene!! And no matter how I look at it there are wild assumptions being made by Marcus.
What I find really interesting is that no one involved in the production has been willing to discuss this scene, or call out Marcus for his behavior. The closest we got was Omar going "you think so?...hmm" in response to Tommy's characterization of Marcus as having "the best heart" in that one interview. But otherwise I have only heard Omar criticizing his own character's behavior in S2, and of course Tommy enthusiastically endorsing Marcus every chance he gets.
In Sara Arrhusius' Permanent Rain Press interview, they say that Rojda described him to her as way nicer than she thought she would describe him. They say that Lisa described him as someone who would be a real challenge to Wilhem - completely different and "just good". And then goes on to describe him thrmself as someone who doesn't push, is respectful and kind. To be fair they are talking from an intimacy perspective here, but it's funny how there is no mention of his complete disregard for boundaries outside of that context.
It makes me curious if the character of Marcus came across to the audience differently than the creators intended, that actually the only takeaway we are supposed to get from his character was that of nice guy foil to Wilhelm, and not that he is a pushy, oblivious and manipulative?
