summary: finnick odair is your best friend, but somehow you cant find it within yourself to be aanything more. Now that the 75th Hunger Games calls for Victors to be reaped you make it your plan to bring Finnick back home to Annie or you will die trying

Finnick’s hard gaze follows you as you take your place on the train, his eyebrows furrows as he watches you pick at your skin as you watch the scenery pass through the windows. Before long he can’t help but voice his thoughts, “Why would you do that?” he blurts out and watches as you look up at him surprised, “do what?” you question and watch as he drags his hand over his jawline in frustration.

“Why would you volunteer for Annie?” he pushes and watches as you look back at him in surprise before you collect yourself and answer him. “To keep her safe” you answer truthfully, you know you can’t tell him you also did it to keep safe, if you did you know full well, he would place himself in front of you and any possible life-threatening situations. 

“I would  have kept her safe” he urges and a part of your heart clenches as you watch how fervently he seems to be pushing the subject. Even though  Annie seemed to have survived the reaping, she will always be the first thing on his mind even if you could quite likely be living the last few days of your life.

While you’re thinking about how Finnick  seems not to care about your impending death  his mind is filled with that exact thought. He can’t understand why you would volunteer in place of Annie; he would have been able to help Annie and keep her safe, but you were a loose rocket, he knew he couldn’t contain you and there was next to no way he would be able to protect you with your stubbornness.

He continues thinking of ways to help you throughout  the games and although he promises himself to help you get home, he realises that in doing so, he’ll have to die too, and he can’t really think too hard about that because he has spent his entirety of his life after being crowned a victor telling and teaching tributes after him to fight.

You can only watch as his expression turns from frustrated to sad and fighting the urge to give him space you find yourself speaking to comfort him instead, “its going to be okay” you mention hopefully, truthfully not only to Finnick but to yourself as well. You’ve made your peace with what must happen and although Finnick  is unaware you hope that with your words you can bring him some form of comfort.

“What’re you talking about?” he asks confused, and you just look at him as you repeat your previous sentiment, his confusion only pains you to know that your closest confidant may not understand the gravity of the situation you are both about to face.

Time passes on the train to the Capitol and although Finnick and you try and keep each other’s emotions high, you both can’t help but feel pressure within yourselves and revisit past trauma as you reach the city. You know that for Finnick the months and even years after his games were not easy for him, not because he had won, well partly, but more because Snow had auctioned Finnick off like a pig to slaughter.

You watched as he fought to clench and unclench his jaw, the slight shake in his hands. As you both arrived at the Capitol you were greeted by excited faces of the wealthiest citizens in Panem, you fought the urge to scream and cry at how excited they looked to see the both of you being shipped off your deaths.

“Smile.” Finnick urges you as he looks out of the glass to all the people, he slips perfectly back into his ‘Prince of Panem’ demeanour  and you can only watch with unease as the fakest of smiles grace his face as he lifts his right arm into the air to wave to the onlookers.

You can only attempt to do the same whilst assuring yourself that this is all part of the bigger picture, to survive this act has to be perfect.

As Finnick and you are escorted off the train to the innermost buildings within the Capitol. The strained smile never leaves either of your faces and away from camera’s, your hands stay interlocked. You continue to try and calm yourselves down as you both meet with your stylists to prepare for the parade.

Your stylists lean into the fishing component of district four as you are dressed in a dark blue bikini top and mini skirt that flows and sticks to your body, complimenting your skin tone. Your makeup is filled with glittery blues and whites. Finnick’s look is a lot more subdued in comparison to your own however he does look handsome in his dark blue kilt and spear.

Your eyes follow the expanse of his chest, and you have to fight the urge to run up to him just so you could feel the ridges of his muscles as your fingertips dance over his uncovered skin, although as you spend the time saying hello to the horses, Finnick detaches from you to walk backwards in the line of carriages.

You follow his figure as he reaches the woman of the hour, Katniss Everdeen. You watch his flirt with her shamelessly and your chest hurts, not only for you but for Annie as well but you realise that if Finnick has one advantage, it’s his good looks so knowing he’s trying to find an alliance you let him carry on without interference.

Although humour takes on a human form in Peeta Mellark, Katniss’ teammate, he looks like he’s about to punch Finnick in the throat although a part of you wonders if he’d be able to reach that high. You stifle a giggle at the thought and look back at Katniss and Finnick’s conversation in time for you to see him shove a sugar cube in his mouth.

Ew. You think and although he walks back looking cool you watch as he grimaces as he reaches your carriage. At that point the only thing you can do is wheeze in laughter as he looks at you annoyed trying to get the sugar granules out of his teeth.

“That was sex appeal-“ he starts before you bark out another short laugh as you wheeze, tears come to your eyes before you slap his bicep as he rolls his eyes, “sex appeal!” you repeat as though it’s the funniest thing you’ve heard in years and maybe it might be.

You calm down and see Finnick looking at you with a raised eyebrow, “it was not that funny” he says, and you smirk in his direction, “It was when you resembled the horses when chewing that sugar cube, Mr sex appeal” you smile, and he only nudges you playfully as they announce the first district.

Your heart beats fast and loud within your chest s district four is called alongside your names, you and Finnick both smile politely and wave towards the roaring crowds before you take your place in front of President Snow’s podium.

You watch as all the districts parade out but as soon as you hear the applause and cheers go louder, you look back to see Katniss and Peeta’s outfits on fire. How fitting, you think and smile as you watch them.

They, alongside everyone else, may not be happy to be there but you can tell by looking at them, how in love with each other the both of them are.

The transfer from the parade to the interview is a blur, the only way you can describe yourself is numb. The cheers, Snow, the other tributes, they all become one jumbled mess inside your mid as your sole purpose is to do what you understand every other tribute has to do, act.

You are interviewed after Finnick and as you watch his interview, as it comes to an end Flickerman opens his mouth to speak again, “Finnick, I understand that you have a message for somebody out there, a special somebody, can we hear it?” he laughs as he pushes the microphone to Finnick to answer.

You look on in confusion, what could he possibly be doing? Finnick’s mask slips a bit, and you watch in all seriousness as he speaks, “My love, you have my heart for all eternity and uh, if I die in that arena, my last thought will be of your lips” he says into the camera and a shuddering breath passes through you. You blink back tears as you realise Finnick was speaking to Annie and as he takes his place back next to you, you send him a wobbly but hopefully reassuring smile.

You promise yourself that you will do whatever it takes for Finnick to get back to Annie.

You interview is next as Caesar looks at you with an indulgent smile, “Y/N, we’ve heard from your teammate that he’s hopeful to make it back to his special someone, is there any special someone you’re hoping to make it back to?” he asks with an indulgent smile.

You smile back fakely as you answer, “Unfortunately not Caesar!” you reply as the crowd ‘awes’ in faux sympathy. “Well then I’m sure your family must be rooting for you!”  he says as he tries another angle, but you just shake you head, “No actually, I volunteered for my friend Annie Cresta because I knew she needed me to, so really I’m just here for her” you say with a smile as you look at the Tv. Caesar nods and ends the interview as he welcomes Johanna Mason from district 7 to the stage.

You join Finnick on the podium  where all the tributes stand and he pulls himself down to whisper in your ears, “what the fuck was that?” he asks sternly and you look at him confused, “don’t play dumb, ‘I’m just here for her’ what the fuck did that mean Y/N” he hisses, and you shake him off. “Exactly what I meant Finnick, now shut up” you say and shake his hand off you as a small tear runs down your face.

You both stand silent next to one another as you watch the different tributes get interviewed in front of you before Katniss walks out in one of the most beautiful wedding gowns you’ve ever seen, you gasp softly at how elegant she looks as you somewhat remember the announcement of her and Peeta getting engaged before the reaping.

Her interview goes very smoothly as Caesar prods at her about how she was unable to have her wedding, however as she turns to show off her gown, it erupts in flames as it turns into a beautiful blue and black  colour with wings around the back. “A Mockingjay” you and Katniss both say in sync as you look at the dress in disbelief.

Peeta’s interview comes next and although he looks completely assured and confidence you can see the slight shake in his fingers and Caesar questions him, “But Peeta, the wedding, a marriage never to be?” he asks softly and Peter doesn’t waste any time before answering, “Actually we got married, in secret” he confesses and you watch Katniss as she tries to keep her composure and you realise then and there that Peeta is lying.

Interesting. You think, why would be Peeta be lying to Flickerman of all people? Although Caesar takes the news very well as he continues to ask Peeta more questions, “A secret wedding? Do tell” he prods.

“We want our love to be eternal” he states and your heart clenches at the thought, he could be very good at tricking Caesar, but you knew right away any romantic feelings he held towards Katniss was completely truthful. Maybe you and him weren’t  so different after all. “You know Katniss and I have been luckier than most, I wouldn’t have any regrets at all i-if it weren’t-“ he stutters, and you look at him in worry.

“If it weren’t for what?” Caesar prods, “if it weren’t for the baby” he says finally, and you and Finnick turn to each other in shock before composing yourselves as the crowd becomes rowdy. People begin booing and voicing their concerns as Peeta takes his place next to Katniss. You watch as victors begin joining hands and you realise why Peeta announced what he did.

You join hands with Finnick in solidarity alongside another victor from district 5, If the Capitol wanted to go back on their words, they needed to realise that it had consequences, you all lift your hands in sync as the curtains shut around you. Peeta Mellark may just be more interesting than he seems.

Hello! I've seen you around before but never really visiting your page and now i have! (✨I don't regret it✨)

I have an ask but I don't know if you're comfortable about it so answering it is a choice, not an obligation

Yes of course. I talked about some of it here

There are quite a few of ships that I like, but I rarely talk about those. I know they’re just that— a ship. But even if there’s more to it… maybe? None of them come even close to the amount of wealth of supporting evidence that SNS holds to prove that yes, Kishimoto sat in front of a desk for 15+ years hunched over an entire love story, deliberately meaning for it to be romantic, but not ever really able to spell it out directly because… Shonen demographics. Probably. Mostly. And company decisions; alas the sequel. (That’s why I don’t really ship SNS, it feels off to me, I rather am a fan? Not important at all, just a distinction I’d like to make anyway.)  

And at first it was mostly because other people claim their bond really is romantic through their observations. I wanted to find out for myself and coming to that conclusion took me a lot of digging. The more I did that, the more I started to like SNS, Kishimoto as a storyteller and ‘Naruto’ as a story overall because it stands out in ways other stories don’t.

But.. if you want specifics of my reasons story-wise.. (I will not apologize for the upcoming rant 🧡 you did ask me about SNS after all.. ’s what happens)— feel free to read further:

Major Reason 1— the Manga

Because how do you really start to see layers within a story that aren’t spelled out? I’ve seen some SNS-fans questioning their own beliefs and intuitions, but that’s not a bad thing, nor is it surprising. Kishimoto is a sneaky bastard and we love him for it, but I wouldn’t really agree with people saying how “easy” it is to see true meaning, because “it’s all so obvious” when ‘meaning’ isn’t really always. And it discredits the necessary skill and literary devices Kishimoto used to tell this story from his position as Shonen Mangaka imo. Severely.

Majority of me becoming a fan only started after reading the Manga. Here is where all the extra noise and influence in the Anime from the many (and often different) episode directors and other decision-makers, is removed completely. (I’m not saying that’s all done with ill intent, just, intent best suited for Anime goals that I don’t necessarily agree with in ‘Naruto’s case. I don’t really care otherwise.)  

Manga vs. Anime: In Manga is where all the Mangaka’s true subtext is and where their messages through the Theme are a lot more clear than when you view it through episodes. Each episode has separate goals not necessarily tied to the overall Story (like in Manga), but to structure it in a way that optimizes entertainment within the timeframe of an episode. It’s true art of deliberately selecting and stretching of source material. People sometimes don’t believe me when I say that, because if you ignore fillers and the Anime covers the same things as the Manga, surely it won’t make a difference? But it really does. You can use all the extra elements in Animation to strengthen a message (like voice, action, music, pacing and camera-direction), but the opposite is true also. Even as “simple” as coloring can subtly influence subtext. You can use all the elements in whichever way to tell the story— together very powerful, but not all nearly as aligned with the Mangaka’s “truth”.  To test this out of curiosity, I have put the Manga and several episodes side by side and when you study a scene from the Manga (a case study), the underlying messages are sometimes completely removed in the Anime. Or other perceptions are strengthened by showing moments a character thinks back on to show what they mean with their words even if it’s irrelevant at the time. It doesn’t mean it’s not relevant at all, it’s just not the same thing as in the Manga. (I don’t recommend testing it the way I have because it takes an ungodly amount of time ><) And it’s only natural for the Anime to do that because… it’s literally their job to fill in episodes in a way they think is best and fits their goals with their audience in mind. Anime and Manga audiences aren’t the same even if someone belongs to both. This is true at least in theory and from my understanding talking to animators when I traveled, they aren’t treated the same if you compare strategies. That’s also why saying Kishimoto helped with certain movies or his approval of whatever doesn’t say too much (or at all) regarding his personal vision regarding the source, because the execution of the final product has too many elements that have nothing to do with his role or skills in the project, whereas that’s completely different with the Manga. It’s fairly obvious in ‘Gaiden’ and Minato’s story as well. Yet his name is always used to prove otherwise because it’s a marketing tactic and it (unfortunately) works. 

Major Reason 2— Subverting Expectations

It’s true that a lot about SNS and their bond is just blatant text and spelled out directly making them both sound incredibly insane and incredibly in love. Meaning, that even if you would watch the Anime or read the Manga on a surface level— you’d realize there’s something more going on regardless. If you question whether your intuition is true on this, watch any reaction to certain moments— you’re not alone. It isn’t for nothing that majority of the general audience mockingly calls Sasuke ‘Sasgay’ since the beginning or are only able to filter an opinion about his motivations through what the surface-narrative says it is: bad. (We can talk about that more in a different post.)

Or people hate Naruto for prioritizing something other than his protagonist’ self “should” prioritize; what is narratively seen as “good”. (Konoha for example. Often why people put Konoha vs. Sasuke when there’s a lot more to it and categorizing it as such only enhances that surface view of good vs bad— it works against the argument these people try to make because that automatically puts Sasuke in the bad-category for most people.. ’s kinda funny, but not really.) 

Or how there are complaints because neither Naruto or Sasuke have shown even the slightest interest towards their ‘supposed’ (read: Shonen-‘expected’) love-interests because there isn’t any. Arguing that they should love another character simply because the girlies are stalking and fawning over them holds no ground at all, yet people take it as truth because they don’t know where else to look. To accept or even acknowledge the unexpected means you gotta swim a little deeper to explore the rest of the iceberg. (Yes, ‘Naruto’ really is that special.) If you don’t then it’s pretty easy to blame everything on bad writing, but I don’t think that’s fair at all simply because some people are unwilling/unable to actually see what’s truly written in the first place and can’t connect things otherwise because “no that’d be gay” and “it’s not possible, it’s Shonen so the Hero should fall in love with the most obvious girl-option” despite there being no mutual foundation to support a decision like that. Nor is there any significance that contributes to anything else. (Or in ‘Naruto’s case, Kishimoto mocks the idea of them liking these girls back, which should tell you a lot as well.) 

Major Reason 3— Subtext, Plot-Goals & Theme

So alright, there’s text. There’s them giving up their goals for each other, willing to trade their lives for the other’s wellbeing or dreams, wanting to understand and reach hearts being each other’s one and only’s in different ways as well as driving strength, motivation and the cause of inner conflicts… but all of its meaning is found in context. (Yes, that thing that people love to ignore to make up their own.) The foundation of SNS’s bond and what it means to them (and even other characters) is primarily subtext weaved through their character arcs. Their change as a character has all to do with each other and very little with the actual plot, hence their final battle being an emotional one and more climactic (in theory of storytelling) than the actual war. 

And yeah, possibly the reason why no one could really connect with the war was because it actually had little meaning beyond the surface.  

Naruto was already celebrated as future Hokage and got the acknowledgement he believed would make him happy. But it didn’t, not for long. 

Sasuke killed both his brother (sorta) and Danzo. He had the perfect opportunity to demolish Konoha because he believed that would be the solution, but he didn’t. Because he realized he had to question the former Hokage and learn more to tackle the problem behind his suffering (the system) on a larger scale. (Revolution.)

These things by itself should tell you there is more to it, because had it been any other story, it would’ve been over. It’s the entire revelation that halts a story completely, but it went on didn’t it? The war only strengthened Sasuke’s resolve for his plan for revolution (we can talk about that in another post) and Naruto’s status as Hero is conflicting and can’t actually ever soothe his anger (in fact, you can see during the war that it became worse) which is why Kishimoto sorta lamely (I’m sorry) brushed the problems off during the Waterfall of Truth arc… by having Naruto believe in himself (which he already did) for arguably the wrong reasons. Although admirable and touching, it’s not very believable considering the rules Kishimoto set before.

So, their arcs continue and the characters have to keep growing. As Main-characters, it’s saying “you aren’t there yet, there’s something you have to discover still”. It isn’t “anyway, you still have a war to fight”, because the war isn’t an obstacle to their inner needs. It’s plot conflict mostly. When it comes to Naruto and Sasuke, Kishimoto masterfully used plot conflict between each other as an obstacle to represent how they feel. Naruto’s existence really is an obstacle to Sasuke’s goal, but you gotta wonder why exactly that is. Naruto couldn’t ever become Hokage if he couldn’t save a friend, but if that’s true, then Naruto failed long before that, so why is Sasuke so special, huh? Hehe.  

On top of all that, overcoming these obstacles means they have to fight for it— emotionally and literally. And fight they do, which is why it is so emotional, because it’s both. The discovery lies in acceptance, something a character can’t go back from in a good story and it’s very prevalent during their conversation after VotE2 and Sasuke’s inner monologue at the end. They are each other’s answer to the Thematic questions the story posed in the beginning. These aren’t “can Naruto become Hokage?” Or “Will Sasuke decide to destroy Konoha?” Or “will our heroes be able to win the war?”, those are plot, not Theme and they don’t argue for a Universal truth nor does it repeat throughout the story constantly like their bond is. It's why Sasuke's "I've lost" has nothing to do with giving up the reason behind his goal, nor the physical fight they just had.

Together it creates a promise saying their understanding is the solution to the Narutoverse’s problem we unfortunately weren’t able to see in action because it jumped from that to delulu lala-land. But that didn’t make the former any less true.

Because if it wasn’t, then Kishimoto spent 72 volumes proving a message he never intended to prove which is ridiculous. As is saying that doing so is accidental (lmao).

And come on now, if their love for each other is the growth within their Character Arcs, the answer to the problems the Theme and Plot posed, both supported by Context and Subtext with some insane blatant Text on top, then I’m sold completely. 

Ooohhh and don’t get me started on the insane amount of symbolisms and metaphoric elements and how Kishimoto used minor characters to support and deepen its meaning because I'll be typing forever... ><

Yeah I know I’m not supposed to answer to the questions that way, but whatever! I’m bored and I love SNS with a burning passion, so let’s go. Just remember that it’s just a bunch of personal headcanons based on my opinion.

1- What is your absolute favorite SasuNaru moment? Their dialogue at Vote2 "Why did you do this?" "Because I love you YOU IDIOT" "Okay I’ll cry" That’s beautiful, and that’s what REAL love looks like. Not but seriously. I think it’s the moment that clearly made me realize that they were in love with each other. Also, all of the times where Sasuke was smiling, crying out of relief, laughing or just expressing himself freely, while he was lying on the ground with his most important person… it’s just so good to see him like this some times.

2- Who says “I love you” out loud first? Sasuke, I think. He might be more discret about his feelings in general, but it’s harder for Naruto to verbalize what he’s feeling to Sasuke. Usually they both express their love for each other’s by little gestures, like holding hands, or touching the other’s hair.

3- SasuNaru, NaruSasu, SasuNaruSasu, other? I don’t give a damn about the top/bottom thing. But I usually use "Narusasu" to talk about the ship because I like the way it sounds. Or just "SNS", it’s shorter.

4- Sexuality headcanons? In canon I see Naruto as gay. But I headcanon Naruto as bi and more attracted to men. And Sasuke’s gay, definitely.

5- At what point in the manga did Naruto realize he was sexually attracted to Sasuke? When did Sasuke realize he was sexually attracted to Naruto? I like to think that Naruto realized he was sexually attracted to Sasuke before he realized he was romantically attracted to Sasuke… Probably when he met him after all these years at Orochimaru Hideout. For Sasuke, I think he realized he was sexually attracted to Naruto after the War. Dealing with his feelings was already too complicated…

6- At what point in the manga did Naruto realize he was romantically attracted to Sasuke? When did Sasuke realize he was romantically attracted to Naruto? Sasuke started to realize he was in love with Naruto after his fight against Haku, and he realized it more clearly at Vote1, when he was about to leave Naruto behind in the "Spiderman kiss" scene. For Naruto… I think he clearly realized he had feelings for Sasuke after Hinata’s confession. Before that, he never properly thought about the nature of his feelings for Sasuke. For me, Naruto labeled Sasuke as his best friend, or brother because he process his thoughts by words. These words were familiars to him. But him being "in love" wasn’t something he properly knew. When Hinata said she loved him, and described her love for him the same way he could describe his love for Sasuke (I mean the part where she had always looked up to him because she admired him), he was clearly able to label Sasuke as someone he loved in a romantic way. Which explains his speech to Sasuke at the Kage Summit.

7- What is their first time like? Really clumsy and awkward, they were both embarrassed. Neither of them was really experimented and they’re two touch-starved dummies, but in the end they both though it was great.

8-Land of Waves or Chunin Exams? Land of Waves all the waaaaaay it’s literally one of the best arc of Naruto. Sasuke sacrificing himself, and choosing to die even though his goal of revenge wasn’t achieve yet for Naruto. And even without regarding SNS, this arc is great just for Haku and Zabuza.

9- Orochimaru’s Hideout or the Kage Summit? Kage Summit I guess? For the whole "We’ll die together" thing. Orochimaru’s Hideout was insane though. Especially for the scene where Sasuke openly flirts with Naruto.

10- First Valley of the End Battle or Second Valley of the End Battle? Second Valley of the End. The fight was much more intense in my eyes, because it was the conclusion of Sasuke and Naruto’s relationship development. But both are important and impactful.

11- Who steals the other’s clothes and wears them? Sasuke likes wearing Naruto’s jacket. He doesn’t do it too often because Naruto’s clothes stink, but he still find them oddly comforting. (He always do this) Naruto also wears Sasuke’s clothes to annoy him. (Bonus: Naruto sometimes wore Sasuke’s headband while he was training with Orochimaru, to feel like if he was there with him)

12- Post your favorite SasuNaru fanart. There’s way too much SNS fanarts I like, it’s too hard to choose. But I particularly love this one, it was one of the first Narusasu fanart I’ve seen, and it’s absolutely magnificent. Also I want a whole 100k fic about this one, it’s so beautiful, and this one is pure gold. And this one. And this one. And this one. (Yeah in case you haven’t notice there’s a lot of talented artists out there)

13- Post your favorite SasuNaru art drawn by Kishimoto. I couldn’t choose between two of them:

I just love to see the two of them having their head tilted slightly to the side, like if they were reaching out to kiss… And I really like the utilisation of the words around them. There’s a great analysis of this drawing here.

Their outfit are so beautiful… There’s also a good contrast between their posture and their respective outfit. Also Sasuke is particularly pretty in this one.

14- Link your favorite SasuNaru fanfic. There’s a lot of SNS fics I love. Some of them are french though… But for the one in English, I particularly like to read homesick for a mountain’s song and stay. They’re the one I like to read the most. If you wan’t my SNS fic rec, it’s here.

15- Choose a side-pairing: KakaSaku or ShikaTema? Kakasaku?… Yikes. Shikatema all the way

16- Tell me about a time Naruto made Sasuke laugh. When Naruto chokes when he eats Ramen too fast. It always makes Sasuke laugh.

17- Describe or Draw a SasuNaru child (Mpreg, adoption, surrogate, whatever). To be honest I don’t think they would have a child if they were actually together. But I like to imagine that if they had an adoptive child (or biological child, with Orochimaru I guess everything’s possible), it would be a girl (with Uzumaki’s red hair if biological child, because who cares about the logic of genetic??)

18- What is your favorite AU to put SasuNaru in? Outside of the self-indulgent scenarios I play in my head when I go to sleep, I love fantasy AU and Sci-fi AU.

19- Would Naruto’s parents like Sasuke? Kushina wouldn’t like him at first. She wanted Naruto to marry a women with the same personality as her, after all. But she would see that Sasuke makes her son happy, and that he’s a polite and handsome man. Eventually she would consider him as a real member of her family, but it would take times. Minato would be nicer than his wife, and he’d accept Sasuke in his family quickly. But they wouldn’t talk much together I think.

20- Would Sasuke’s parents like Naruto? Mikoto would immediately like Naruto. Fugaku… I’m not sure. He would think Naruto’s an idiot, and not worthy enough to be his son’s lover. But I think that with times he would learn to appreciate him for his skills and his determination.

21- How does Kurama feel about Naruto’s relationship with Sasuke? He made it clear that he hated the Uchiha brat when they started dating, but he was glad that Naruto was finally able to express his feelings for Sasuke. It was getting annoying for him to see them pinning for each other all those years.

22- Who is the first person they tell? Who finds out first? They told Iruka first of course!

23- Describe Sasuke and Naruto’s favorite things to do in Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Spring is the time when they travel for some days in other countries to admire the sakura trees from different regions. In Summer they love to go swimming all day long in the rivers around their house. In Fall, they spend a lot of time in their garden, either cultivating vegetables or picking up dead leaves. In Winter they like to go outsides and play with snow when there is some, and when there isn’t they like to stay at home in their bed with tones of blankets.

24- Rewrite the Ending, pleeeease. Basically Naruto and Sasuke goes to a journey together then they marry each other and come back to Konoha to change the system. Also Sakura goes to therapy and realizes that her behavior toward Sasuke is problematic, Kaguya doesn’t exist, and Neji doesn’t die as slave. Or maybe Hinata sacrifice herself to protect Neji? She would never do that in canon, since she only think about herself, but it would be a nice character development I guess. But it wouldn’t be really in character, so whatever… Also Karin and Naruto should properly interact with each other’s as cousins it would be nice. We haven’t seen enough of the Uzumaki Clan in the manga!

25- Link a song that perfectly describes Sasuke and Naruto’s relationship. Mitski songs are literally Naruto and Sasuke’s relationship in music. But @sueske also made a playlist for SNS (go listen to it if you haven’t already!!)

26- Link a song that perfectly described Sasuke and Naruto’s sex life. I really don’t know… If anyone have suggestions, I’d like to hear them!

27- Pretend you are Naruto and write a short poem about Sasuke’s hair. 

"Dear Sasuke.

Wow. Your hair is like blueberry"

28- What is your second favorite SasuNaru moment? Their reunion at Kage Summit. The whole "We’ll die together" thing is so dramatic and romantic, I love it. And when Naruto and Sasuke both read each other’s hearts…

29- Ramen or Tomatoes? I really like tomatoes, but… Ramen superiority! I love every types of noodles, especially Udon.

30- Do you like Sasuke’s spiky duck-butt hair or his slick-down hair better? Do you like Naruto’s hair shorter or longer better? Sasuke’s Boruto hairstyle is horrible, even if the way Kishimoto drew his slick-down hair was gorgeous in one of his sketch. But the duck-but hair is iconic. And for Naruto it’s easy. He looks incredibly bad with his short hair, and even Kishimoto couldn’t change that. So, long-haired Naruto it is! (I think he would look good with an undercut though)

31- Who bites in bed? Naruto, most of the times. In bed, he bites hard. Sometimes Kyubi’s instincts take over everything else and he just wants to feel blood on his tongue. But he makes sure that it doesn’t hurt Sasuke too much. Also, Natuto casually bites Sasuke in their everyday life either on his cheek, or his fingers, just because. It’s affectional of course.

32- Who cooks? Neither of them properly knows how to cook… Sasuke knows some good recopies, but it’s complicated to cook with one hand. So usually they try to cook something nice together.

33- Who denied his feelings longer? Probably Naruto, because of internalized homophobia. He didn’t really denied his feelings to himself, but he didn’t want to admit them to others, fearing that he would be excluded by people,

34- What is your third favorite SasuNaru moment? When Sasuke sacrificed himself to save Naruto at Land of Waves. This scene always makes me emotional... Sasuke ready to give up on his dream of revenge for Naruto is the definition of love.

35- Who catches them having sex all the time and constantly tries to bleach his/her eyes? I don’t think Naruto and Sasuke would be caught having sex, at least not often. They’re ninjas after all.

36- How does Itachi feel about their relationship? He feels like Naruto is probably the only person in this world that will make his brother truly happy. So he’s glad for them.

37- Hot Spring Sex or Hokage Office Sex? Hokage Office Sex, definitely.

38- How does Iruka feel about Sasuke? He thinks Sasuke’s a good kid, and even if he doesn’t really understand what had been going on with him and Naruto, he’s glad that both of them are able to be happy together.

39- Describe Taka’s relationship with Naruto once they learn he’s with Sasuke. Karin’s jealous of Naruto, but she wants what’s best for Sasuke, so she tries not to show that’s she’s pissed off. Suigetsu just makes nasty comments every time he sees Naruto, but he thinks Naruto’s funny. And Juugo doesn’t mind him. Naruto think they’re all weird, and he’s jealous of them to, but most of the time he doesn’t feel too uncomfortable with them, because he doesn’t feel like they’re judging his relationship with Sasuke

40- Who threatens to end Sasuke’s life if he ever hurts Naruto? Gaara.

41- What is your fourth favorite SasuNaru moment? (I could keep going with this, there’s like a million SasuNaru moments!!) The Spiderman kiss scene at Vote1. This moment right after the fight feels so intimate and precious.

42- What does Jiraiya think about Sasuke? He thinks Sasuke is a friend for Naruto, and that their relationship is a just phase.

43- Do you think it makes sense that Sasuke doesn’t stay in the village at the end of the manga?  Yes I do. I don’t picture him staying in Konoha after the War, at least not all the time. I think he would always go on journey around the world, but would come back in Konoha for a few days/weeks when he feels like it.

44- Do they get married? They do get married, but like some sort of private party. They just invited a little group of people and made a ceremony. It was more about them than about other people.

45- Who’s more aggressive in bed? Neither of them are really agressive. Naturo’s a little bit rough sometimes though…

46- Describe a perfect day for Sasuke and Naruto.  In the morning, they really like to cuddle in bed, and then they take a long walk in the forest while Sasuke listen to whatever Naruto wants to talk about. For lunch they either eat at Ichiraku’s or make themselves a little snack. In the afternoon they like to go training together, then they rest at home either taking a nap or enjoying their garden. In the evening, Sasuke reads with Naruto besides him, then they try to cook themselves something good. After this they either go to sleep, or make love when they’re in the mood.

47- When they’re training together, who always gets distracted and turns the training into fooling around? Naruto!

48- Which outfit of Sasuke’s is Naruto’s favorite?  He loves every single one of them equally. (Well, maybe he does have a preference for the Sasuke-tidies-out-Uchiha, but that’s a secret)

49-What does Sasuke find the most attractive about Naruto? What does Naruto find the most attractive about Sasuke? Sasuke likes it a lot when Naruto does his fox-smirk. And his whiskers are cute. Naruto absolutely loves when Sasuke smiles. He craves for these moments. He think he’s insanely attractive when he smiles. Also he loves his hair and his eyes.

50- If you could tell Sasuke and Naruto one thing, what would you tell them? "Have you watched Brokeback Mountain?"

So this person @tiesthatbindel @neolavender @neolilac @itunisaaa @neosprivateacc who champions Sakura and holds that Naruto is straight (they said he wasn't gay, didn't say he was bi either, and didn't seem to question his sexuality at all),

who holds Kishi is heteronormative and homophobic (🤦), has been harassing me on my private message and askbox. Here as well. They are using multiple accounts to do so.

Sorry guys, I had to shut off my ask box because this person is just refusing to leave me alone, all because I wrote lol to their comment. I was polite to them, and slightly dismissive perhaps, but this person is making it a mission to gather their followers to block me and hate on me. But seems their only followers are their own alt accounts. Heheh.

I think they feel slighted because I won't take them seriously. They really went from calling my content stellar, and God tier, to harassing me and trying to report me because I wrote a post over a year ago where I talked about my community being on the receiving end of systemic ethnic and religious discrimination in my country.

And a lot more but I blocked them. They are not only badmouthing me but denegrating other SNS fans that I happily interact with. And I am baffled. They simply won't stop.

To prove their point, they also gathered screenshots from a Hinata stan called 'chhote-pandit' who harassed me and several other SNS fans last year, someone who threatened to feed our intestines to their cats for shipping 'brothers', and called SNSers horny fujoshis and dirty lesbians. That person was banned by Tumblr. This person's account also seems to be partially banned. Why are SS and NH stans like this? Bah. Like it's some type of neurosis.

They think Sasuke shinden is canon. Lol. Thing is they went personal, and petty. While I put effort to link them to my content for their benefit, they skipped all of that and started to harass me on my message boards. When I saw that they were spamming my posts, I blocked them. Like I would with any other person. And THAT was their undoing.

Ah. Now one would think I am affected. And I do feel bad, both for myself and them because I didn't deserve this much craziness for saying fanfic writers should dig deeper and presented a research based and well reasoned perspective. And they chose to take offense and take it to a personal level, getting petty, verbally abusing me.

Meanwhile they don't know anything about my ethnicity, my background, my struggles. And if I told them, I can promise they will take it all back. Heh. It can be grounds for even suing them. Yeah, it's that significant. I come from a very interesting (and rare) socio politico cultural intersection. But I value my privacy and anonymity. One other SNSer asked me about it politely and as a response, I left some reading material with them as answer. It explains it much better than I can.

I also am not really bothered as of now because I think I hurt their ego real bad. Just by not taking them seriously. Because I said lol to their comments. They have bigger problems than my dismissal of them.

Anyway, I understand fandoms can be challenging and a lot of people with strong voices get dragged for it on Tumblr. Especially in Naruto fandom. Heh. But the simplest way for them to deal with it was to actually talk storytelling and characters with me, like I did, by sharing links to my content. Instead they got personal while not really doing any of that.

The reason I am here is the story, my boys, Kishi and I find it a lot of fun interacting with other SNSers here. I am grateful that people even make time to read my long winding, seriously long ass posts. Hehehe.

i dont even dislike sns itself but the way the fans act about hinata in particular makes me so genuinely angry.LOL like theyre so pissed naruto didnt marry sasuke that they invent a whole new narrative where hinata was always fully in control of the hyuuga clan and saw & treated neji like a slave and would happily brand one of her children with the caged bird seal. nevermind the fact that she was practically disowned and her own father told her teacher that she could die for all he cared, that she worked with neji to change the hyuuga clan all throughout the timeskip despite him almost killing her shortly before, and that they have canonically succeeded in making the branch family equals to the main one and that they do not use the seal anymore. like can you shut up about hinata if you dont even know that the only way to break the seal is by dying so shes not simply refusing to undo it and that they dont brand people who dont have the byakugan because the whole point of it is to protect the secrets of the byakugan so its not like boruto or himawari would ever be at risk of getting the seal since boruto doesnt have the byakugan. which btw doesnt make sense w the established hyuuga lore and neither does himawari awakening it since theyre supposed to be born with it and its the sharingan that people have to awaken but whatever. this is unrelated to sns fans im just annoyed that kishimoto forgot. The knock on the door was a surprise. Bucky never had any guests, he barely talked to two people regularly, one of them being his therapist. There was no one who could’ve visited him. So, a little bit wary, and automatically prepared to either fight or flee if necessary, he looked through the peephole to see who was on the other side of the door. This made even less sense. Relaxing a bit, he opened the door, trying not to look as confused as he felt.

“Hi?”

“Hey, Buck.” Sam grinned, holding a case of beer and a backpack. “Hope I’m not interrupting.”

“Why are you here?” Bucky tilted his head and frowned. They weren’t friends. They barely knew each other. They had a mutual friend who was gone now. There was literally no reason Sam would just show up at his place. Then again, he was trying to contact Bucky for a while now, which he also didn’t understand in the slightest.

“You’re not answering my calls or texts. Wanted to make sure you’re alive. Gonna invite me in?” he raised his eyebrow. He was always so relaxed and confident, and the way he talked to Bucky sometimes made him feel like they actually were close friends. Sam was just really friendly and chatty, and created this atmosphere of familiarity and comfort. They never hang out much, not at all since Bucky moved in here, and Sam went back to DC, but now Bucky was reminded of how enjoyable Sam’s company could be. 

“Uh, okay.” he stepped aside, letting Sam in and closing and locking the door behind him. Sam put his backpack by the door, kicked off his shoes, shrugged off his jacket, then went inside. He took two bottles of beer out of the package, then put the rest in the fridge. He offered one to Bucky, who trailed behind him. Sam seemed to have already made himself at home. Bucky didn’t mind, it was kind of nice having someone there.

“So how are you, man?” Sam sat on the couch and smiled, opening his beer.

“I’m- I’m fine.” Bucky responded, feeling kind of out of place. It wasn’t because of Sam acting like he’d been at his place countless times, by any means. It was Bucky’s apartment, but he never really felt at home there. Even less now, seeing how Sam acted. It was weird. “How about you?” he asked just to be polite. Now that Sam was here he also felt a little bad about ignoring him for so long.

“I’m okay. Been down in Louisiana to visit my family a few times.” his smile turned into something soft and affectionate. He had a nice smile. It almost made Bucky smile back. Almost. “My nephews are so big now. It’s so weird. Five years.” he shook his head. “I’m still kind of having a hard time settling in, getting used to everything.” he gave Bucky a long look.

“Uh, yeah, me too.” he finally decided to stop just standing there awkwardly, and he moved to sit on the other end of the couch. It was difficult to have missed five years. But Bucky missed 70 before, it wasn’t that much different. Even better, to be honest, because at least he didn’t experience this alone, and he didn’t have more memories of him killing people within the last years haunting him. “Why did you come here?” he asked again.

“Why were you ignoring me?” Sam countered.

“I didn’t think we had anything to talk about.” Bucky answered quietly, for once wanting to be fully honest with at least one person. “I didn’t want you to feel obligated to check up on me, just because of Steve.” his voice was barely a whisper now. Sam just had this calming, relaxing presence, that made it so easy to be honest and open up to him.

“What? I don’t feel obligated. Jesus.” Sam scoffed. “Is it that hard to believe that I just wanted to make sure you’re okay?”

“Why though? Why do you care?”

“Because we’ve all been through a lot, but you’ve been through even more than anyone I’ve met, and I was worried. I like you, for some godforsaken reason – I blame Steve, he’s the one who kept telling me all those stories about how awesome you are all the time.” he chuckled. “I know it’s difficult, and I just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone.”

“I am, though.” Bucky said after a few moments of silence and mulling over Sam’s words. “Alone, that is.” he didn’t really mind being alone, usually. He got lonely sometimes, but it was okay. He needed alone time to get better, to get to know himself again, discover who he was. But sometimes he wished he could talk to someone who’d understand. A couple of times he almost answered Sam’s calls. He never did, though. “I was ignoring you, because I didn’t want to- I didn’t want to get attached, and then-” he couldn’t finish the sentence. He already opened up more than he should’ve. “Sorry.” he muttered.

“It’s fine.” Sam sighed. “And listen, it took me a while to get there, and if I’m being honest I’m not sure I’m a hundred percent there yet, but I know I’m not alone, and neither are you.” he said earnestly, looking at Bucky with such intensity, he had to avert his gaze. “I’m always here, whether you like it or not.” he added, a bit teasingly.

“So there’s no getting rid of you, huh?” Bucky felt a smile tugging at his lips. Shit, what was happening?

“No way.” Sam grinned. “So, now, how about we order take out and watch a movie?” It sounded nice. A movie meant less talking, but still having company. 

“Sure.” Bucky responded, surprising himself. He was rarely in the mood for company, but again, there was just something about Sam that made Bucky want to be around him. Right then, he promised himself that next time Sam called, Bucky would respond. It wouldn’t hurt to have one friend he could honestly talk to.

Okay, I personally ship SNS and think that it is THE best written relationship in Naruto, even if one doesn’t want to view them as strictly romantic. I even think there’s fairly strong evidence for Naruto and Sasuke being purposely written as… non-hetero, is what I’ll go with.

However, there is one part in the manga/anime which possibly conflicts with this idea, and was hoping you could offer an explanation (I’m reallly liking your posts btw).

In the arc where Naruto is with Sakura, Yamato, and Sai, there’s a part where they stop at an inn and hots springs/bath place. Sakura goes to the women’s section by herself, while Naruto goes to the men’s bath section with Yamato and Sai (and Naruto also seems embarrassed and oddly flustered? Which is weird because I thought that bathing among other men isn’t weird in Japanese culture, but maybe Naruto he just doesn’t feel comfortable around them?) and at some point Naruto decides to peep on Sakura before being strongly discouraged by Yamato.

My question is, what’s up with Naruto apparently being attracted/still having a crush on Sakura? How does this fit into a SNS reading of the manga?

(Btw I also find that moment weird because (A) Naruto’s “crush” is basically nonexistent immediately before and after this scene, and (B) I thought Naruto didn’t approve of peeping because he always called Jiraiya out on it?)

Exactly. So you kind of answered your own question there. It's weird isn't it? Why would Naruto be so awkward bathing with Sai and Yamato? Well, at the time these two aren't his favorite people, sure. But this is a pattern with Naruto.

Let's examine the scene first.

He hugs his knees, barricading himself almost hiding underwater. This, while Yamato expresses that "guys being together naked makes them feel like companions!" Naruto who kept blushing throughout the scene, very much doesn't feel that way.

In fact, Sai decided to comment on his..

It makes Naruto shout really loudly mentioning, well "penises". He went from being awkward to pretty much hysterical. Naruto overreacts despite Sai overstepping boundaries.

This makes all the ladies laugh.

This is important because he already looked nervous. And now he embarrassed himself in front of his new teammates. -'Totally uncool what would they think of this behavior?'- It is realistic. Well.. this is clever writing because Naruto's story and how he comes to deal with his own feelings and understanding them is a huge part of it. How does he deal with this awkward situation?

Of course when he hears the woman laugh he gets an idea and grins. He's seen Jiraiya do it too many times after all. Peeking at the woman's bath. It is complete deflection. Naturally, Yamato stands up when he figures out what Naruto is about to do.

He doesn't. It has nothing to do with Sakura. I think, if I remember correctly, the Anime did make this scene about Sakura but that wasn't the point. Kishimoto is such a damn genius who depicts Naruto's struggle brilliantly in subtle and obvious ways. There is another one-shot where the exact same pattern with Naruto in the Onsen appears. It isn't Canon but made by Kishimoto anyway.

Naruto lies when Sakura and Sai see him brain-rotting over Sasuke. Instead he says he was planning a date with Sakura.

When Kakashi tells Naruto he likes him Naruto yet again overreacts. He tells him to "not say weird shit like that you friggin idiot!" and "your creepy ass threw me off!" even though very obviously Kakashi didn't mean it like that. And Naruto's reaction was completely uncalled for.

And during the Bell Test(? if I remember), Kakashi said he liked Naruto as well. This isn't the first time at least. Yet when Naruto is older and struggling he gets awkward and flustered about it. When Sai pulls an arm around Naruto he gets mad. On the other hand.. When others insult Sakura by calling her ugly or a bitch (Konohamaru) he doesn't care. Naruto didn't see any difference in her appearance after the time-skip she "looked fine!" and "didn't change at all!" even though Sasuke looks " カッコイイ" (cool, attractive, good looking) and again in Gaiden (handsome). Even Haku was cuter than Sakura. He has no problem calling his mother beautiful either.

.. okay there are too many moments. The point is, just take Naruto's confession under the bridge, his thoughts during VotE1 and confessions VotE2 and his patterns make sense. Peeking at the women after that awkward situation is part of it. (As is lying.) Kishimoto slow-burned his way through Naruto realizing that his feelings for Sasuke weren't normal and tried to hide it with the help of Sakura, because it is convenient. And I think it is so clever- Imma stop now.

One thing I don't like about SNS fans is that some of them feel the need to drag Sakura through the mud in every one of their posts. Calling her a gay beard, saying she is nothing more than a device to convey Naruto’s feelings, calling her catty and jealous of Naruto because Sasuke likes him more than her, etc...

Like, Sakura deserves criticism just like everyone else does, but there's a fine line between criticism and just making shit up like saying Sakura was willing to give Naruto over to the Akatsuki just because of that line where she said getting closer to the Akatsuki would get them closer to Sasuke. Yes, before you ask, I have seen every single one of these claims in SNS posts before.

Like, I'm not the biggest fan of her, but I honestly just feel bad at this point. I know you're a big fan of her so what do you think?

I honestly did not expect my answer to be as long as it is (that’s on me, I should’ve known that I’d be incapable of shutting up) so I’m putting the rest of the response under the cut!

I feel the need to clarify to anyone that reads this: I am also a SNS fan so please don’t come for me!! I know there are plenty of SNS fans that are also Sakura stans (or at the very least, don’t have any strong opinions abt her character, which I’ll always take over the overly-negative ones) but there is definitely no denying that there’s a small percentage of that fandom who actively hate Sakura for things that are literally out of her control.

You basically summed up how I feel about the whole thing. I think there are legitimate reasons to dislike Sakura as a character, but once people start twisting the narrative - that’s when I get defensive. It’s been proven time and time again that Sakura has nothing but love for both Naruto and Sasuke (once again, I am asking the fandom to stop holding her hostage for shit she said in the very beginning of the manga!!) so this argument that Sakura would be catty / jealous / homophobic because of SNS’s bond literally makes no sense to me.

(Like, seriously. If y’all have CANON evidence, please feel free to let me know and we can discuss it! But most of the time, it’s just people deliberately twisting canon to fit their own personal agenda.)

In terms of the jealousy aspect, I personally don’t mind the characterization that Sakura would be jealous on like, a human level. I understand that. When the people you’re close with enter romantic relationships - especially in this case, when it’s literally her teammates - I think there’s a very natural sense of loss and envy that comes with that. Even in a platonic sense, when you feel that two of your friends have a stronger bond, or that they can connect on a level you will never understand, I think it’s very natural to feel jealous or left out. However, in my opinion, that jealousy would never turn into resentment or bitterness. Sakura has always valued the happiness of team, so at the end of the day, I genuinely think she would be supportive and it pisses me off when SNS fics paint her as this jaded ex / the villain of their ship. Like, y’all are going out of your way to make her the bad guy, and for what? 

It’s funny, I’ve actually read SNS fics where authors are actively aware that Sakura wouldn’t be bitchy, but write her as a bitchy character anyway because they need a villain for their story. Like... maybe you should take a step back and examine why you feel the need to make her purposefully homophobic. 

As for the jokes about her being a beard for Sasuke - well. When done without any real malice, I think they can be funny. But as a casual SS fan, I do think they get old really fucking quickly. Sakura literally has no agency & it baffles my mind when people blame her for ending up with Sasuke (I’m not even pulling this out of my ass - I’ve literally seen these takes.) Like, take it up to Kishimoto!! Leave her alone!! It’s so funny to me when people come up with these wild conspiracy theories as to how Sakura “tricked” Sasuke into marrying & having a child with her as if these aren’t characters with no real agency at the mercy of a heteronormative author. I totally understand if y’all disagree with SS - I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, but I also take issue with how their canon relationship played out - but people who hate Sakura for ending up with Sasuke as if she had any real control over the matter... It honestly makes me laugh. It’s genuinely funny. Like damn, a fictional character who isn’t even the villain of the show really gets your blood boiling that badly - it’s very girlboss of her!

Also, I just need to throw this in here because it’s come up on my TL a few times and I want to vent: I honestly cannot fucking stand Boruto, none of that shit is canon to me, but SNS stans who deliberately make hateful jokes about how Sasuke purposefully abandoned Sakura and Sarada because he doesn’t actually love them... Like, that’s not the slay you think it is. Y’all are making fun of Sakura for having to be a single mother, but I think there’s something super fucking tragic about the fact that Sasuke, who has so much love for his family and his clan, basically abandons Sarada in her early childhood. I know he has his reasons, but in my opinion, it does a great disservice to his character. Idk, the Sasuke I know would never, but Kishimoto simply does not understand him like I do. 18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? Considering I'm bilingual and read fic in both French and English, I'mma go with 100% yes. That and I read novels where a lot of the dialogue is in Spanish (and not translated, and I don't speak Spanish at all, I just adore the storytelling of hispanic & latinx authors) so. Why wouldn't I be on board for fanfiction doing that?

19. First fandom you wrote for? It was probably Codename: Kids Next Door (but there's a very real possibility it was Sailor Moon)

20. Favorite fic you’ve written? Probably coming out of my cage because that fic is so personal to my own queer journey, or what are you after (some kind of disaster) because it's personal to my trans identity.

I know more people probably think it's my Lokius fic (every minute it makes me weaker) because it's the one that has the most views/attention, but I wrote that fic because I had an idea for it. Some of the writing in there is the best I've ever done, but I don't have any real love for the work. It's good on paper, but I don't feel an emotional connection to it the same way I do coming out of my cage, what are you after, or even be kind and curious in all things.)

Or maybe you think it's the Doctor Who/Iron Man crossover I've been writing for going on...what 7 years now? I love that fic, but it isn't my favourite. It has a lot of flaws I should've fixed, but didn't. Even on the second upload. I took away voices from characters I should've given a bigger platform and I have to live with that.

You can always tell the stories I love the most because I drag my feet on finishing them. I don't have the ability to just write them and post them the same way I do works I don't have an emotional connection to.

coming out of my cage will always be that for me. When I finish it I'm going to be both relieved and ruined.

Sorry, I'm one of the anons you replied to, (not the sns one) and after you posted it i realised it came out pretty judgemental and that was really not my intention. (I confused your blog with someone else's I think? someone who asked for feedback about that kind of poll.) I really don't particularly care, I answer the polls that interest me and that's it. I see why ppl are interested in that kind of question, like I said, I just think some caution is good if that is something the op wants to avoid (mostly the rivalry in shipping and the race debates) bc it can get out of hand. So, sorry if it came out the wrong way, you don't even need to answer this I just wanted to apologise for my tone. It didn't translate well.

Is it pointless to learn about how closeted homosexuality is portrayed in media or how closeted people really function in society, especially a conservative one? Oh yes of course, why should you learn about something that isn't of your immediate concern? Why should you waste your time like this? Is it pointless to learn visual language and narrative? Is it pointless to learn about Japanese culture and literature given that's where Kishi takes a lot of his inspiration from and I talk about it on this blog because it is an ANALYSIS blog?

Yes, it is entertainment but isn't it a more satisfying experience to glean as much as you can from a piece of media, so as to enjoy it even more and maybe learn something in the process?

So watching some anime or film means you don't need to think? How many times did you watch Inception to get it right?
