7. Unflinchingly settling your head into your lover’s lap while they watch television/are reading a book/doing their favorite hobby. Then asking your lover to explain what’s going on/what they’re doing. i wrote this stream of consciousness and i dont feel like editing it so you get what you get

The nice thing about Karkat is that he's always good for background noise. Whenever you need something else to drown out the voices, he's always there, ranting and raving about some inane bullshit you couldn't care less about, but enjoy hearing regardless. It's an odd day when you can't hear him puttering around the house and mumbling under his breath, cursing out a chair you didn't push in that he tripped over or the food that isn't cooking fast enough. The cat Dave convinced you (convinced Karkat, just by virtue of forcing Karkat to hold it for more than five minutes until all the ice around Karkat's heart melted) to take in is just as loud as he is, and at all hours of the day, you can hear them talking to each other, Karkat's grumble interspersed with the cat's loud meows.

He's quiet today, though. Rose left him with a new book the other day, and apparently today is the day he has the attention span to devour it. You're treated to an uncharacteristic silence as you work, and for a while, it's sort of nice. Until it isn't.

You give up on coding when it feels like there are bugs crawling under your skin, irritation at a boiling point. The code isn't making sense, you can't concentrate, and the screams of the imminently doomed are no longer background, piercing howls destroying any coherent thought you might have left. Your wrists are sore, your neck hurts, your head is throbbing, you're stiff and your eyes are dry and you can't remember the last time you ate. You're done.

Sparks jump from your fingertips as you shove your chair back and ditch your computer. There's a buzzing in your ears that's probably you, but you're too irritable to care as you stalk down the hall to the kitchen. Nothing sounds good, but you know you need to eat if you want to push through this, so you tug open cupboards and force yourself to consider the food anyway.

The cat (Dave wanted to name it Carcinisation; you wanted to name it Hexadecimal. In the end, you compromised on Hexbug, because Karkat said there was no way Dave was naming it after him, Rose liked the nickname Hex, and Dave liked the callback to a human toy you've never heard of) starts meowing at you immediately, trailing a few paces behind you like a starving stray, when you're 100% sure Karkat has been feeding him all his little heart desires. He's as obnoxious and needy as the human who brought him here, and you ignore him, because he's being dramatic and you're so charged up you think you'd shock him if you even tried to pet him. (You do drop him a few treats, because you feel bad.)

In the end, you heat up leftovers. The smell of warm orange chicken makes your stomach perk up a little, and as you eat a few pieces on the way to the couch, you feel a little less like blowing your apartment off the map.

Karkat, predictably, has tucked himself into his favorite corner of the couch with a blanket and the new book. Hex runs past you to jump up on the arm of the couch and complain about your abuse, and without looking up, Karkat lifts a hand to scratch Hex's little, whining head. Because you are the superior lifeform, you flop down on Karkat's other side and bravely resist the urge to complain about Hex framing you.

Karkat looks up for you, though. He blinks the way he does when he's been reading too long, like his eyes are refocusing like a camera lens, and he can't quite see what's in front of him right away. "You look like shit," is the first thing he says.

"Wow, thanks." Despite yourself, you feel your grouchiness crack a little. It probably helps that you're eating now, but there's just something about Karkat, too.

His fingers brush through your hair, like swiping away the static. "You're sparking."

"You don't say."

"Sometimes you don't notice." He's right. He stretches his legs out, unfurling, and his knee pushes into yours. "How's your head?"

"Hurting."

He hums. You don't give him much to work with, and he watches you for a while, thinking. His fingers fiddle absently with the hair at the nape of your neck, arm propped against the back of the couch. His presence makes you feel a little bit more grounded, and so you eat and try to focus on that. Eventually, his eyes drift back to his book.

By the time you finish eating, it stops feeling like enough. You feel less shaky and irritable, but your head is pounding with the force of screams, and you need something else. You push your empty bowl back on the coffee table and twist, dropping sideways across the couch with your head in Karkat's lap. He has to lift his book to accommodate you, but he doesn't protest for a second, seemingly expecting it. His nails drag soothingly along your scalp, and your eyes shut instantly, a wave of relief rolling over you. This is what you needed. Definitely.

Hexbug weaves between you like an asshole, determined to fit himself in the middle of the action. He plops down in the middle of your chest like a big, furry sack of shit, squirming into you to get comfortable until you start petting him. He goes loose instantly, purring quietly at first, and then loudly, the vibration of it rattling your very bones. It feels like it shakes the pain out of you, some inexplicable healing power stored in the rumble of your adorabeast. "He's louder than you," you tell Karkat.

"Tell me something new," Karkat mutters, absentminded.

"What are you reading?"

"Are you asking because you care, or because you want to rag on my taste?"

"Legally, I'm obligated to say the latter, but you know it's both."

Karkat sighs. And then, he talks. And he keeps talking. And the voices fade a little further into the back of your mind, and you relax.

14.- Feyre- brings a giant pack of her art supplies, sets up in the first nice valley and begins to paint. Yes, paint. Just wants to capture the moment, to soak in the beauty of nature.

13. Rhys- brought a golf cart, wearing open-toed shoes. "What do you mean we're not golfing?" Ends up banned by park service for taking a golf cart up a protected trail, waits in parking lot doing wheelies

12. Tarquin- SO HUMID. Prefers a dry heat, will not stop talking about it. Wants to know if they're ever going to swim, bails early when he realizes the journey is just the walk. NO THANK YOU

11. Gwyn- Two miles max, did not wear adequate shoes. Brought a book tucked beneath her arm to identify plants and birds but forgot water. Identifies zero birds, gets 100 mosquito bites.

10. Jurian- Does not understand point of a hike. Declares the view is not even that good. VISIBLY sunburned a third of the way up, refuses to put on sunscreen. Constantly asking if they're there yet.

9. Helion- Definitely thought there would be more drinking involved. Goes in 70's style shorts so everyone knows how muscular his thighs are. Isn't there for the right reasons. Lots of passerby's distracted when he takes off his shirt. Everyone annoyed by his in person thirst trapping.

8. Azriel- athletic but this is not his preferred form of absorbing vitamin D. Teased the whole time about how much black he wore. Doesn't want to scuff brand new shoes, has one of those backpacks you can slurp water from with a straw, refuses to share.

7. Vassa- Came with the hopes everyone was camping. Hiking with an ARSENAL of gear on her back. Exhausted half way through and FURIOUS when she realizes everyone is done at mile five

6. Emerie- Hiking goddess. Came to snap pictures and she looks good doing it. Long leggings and socks despite heat, does not seem to notice. Carrying on conversation despite ninety degree incline.

5. Eris- brought ALL his dogs. Tangled leashes EVERYWHERE. People constantly asking to pet, of course he says NO. DONT TOUCH THEM. Dogs desperately want to be pet. Carrying around way too many bags of dog poop, is grumpy about it. So worried about keeping dogs from escaping, forgets sunscreen.

4. Elain- Points out all the plants along the way, taking pictures carefully to catalogue. WAY at the back of the group, constantly having to jog to catch up. Came to soak up nature, not to get so sweaty. Wore a too floppy hat she loses in the wind at the very top, forced to go back down without it.

3. Tamlin- Wants to hike in SILENCE. Brought headphones, defeating the purpose of a group hike. So loud EVERYONE can hear. "Is that Call Me Maybe?" Tamlin pretends he didn't hear.

2. Cassian- BRUTAL PACE. PRACTICALLY RUNNING. OH MY GOD WHAT IS YOUR RUSH??? The rush is to beat the crowd and to punish ourselves for our many crimes against God. Cassian avoids being murdered that day...but just barely.

1. Lucien- Off grid hiking, tracking through woods like a bloodhound. Group? What group? They find him halfway back lounging against a tree looking unbothered. Made it to the top hours ago, just waiting now. There is a shortcut, he claims, pointing to vertical incline nicknamed "SUICIDE CLIMB" Looks like it needs equipment to get up, he claims he used his hands. Perfect ponytail.

No worries at all! I haven't gotten too many requests for Trey in general, so I don't mind. I like writing for him. <3

😱 What makes them worry about their s/o the most?

Most of the time, Trey does his best to let concerns roll off his back, not to dwell on them too much. He's a really good communicator and he's not a catastrophizer, so any concerns that do come up he's usually quick to discuss. If anything, I think he may be worried about the two of yours' futures in general? What you want to do in the future, moving in together, starting a family... Maybe he's looking a bit far ahead, but you gotta think about these things sometime, right?

🥰 How often do they stare lovingly at their s/o?

He's very subtle about it, but Trey loves to just sit and admire you a lot. If you're speaking then 100% of his attention is on you, and if you're working in his general vicinity and he doesn't have anything else to keep his eyes on he'd much rather watch you than try to find some other way to keep himself occupied.

🎀 Are they likely to fall for someone first or is it the other way around?

I think Trey is way more likely to have someone else fall for him first. I can see him being sort of a campus heartthrob in general, and even after leaving NRC he's always turning heads at the bakery, but it takes someone really getting to know the real him before he falls in love in return.

💌 Do they send loving/cutesy texts to their s/o?

Not a ton, but he sends a decent amount of sweet texts! They're the right blend of caring and mushy, and often times he's just trying to get a laugh out of you. He just likes to check in on you throughout the day,especially if he didn't get to see you much.

🎉 Are they a fan of nicknames? Do they prefer cutesy, traditional or silly ones?

Lots of food-related pet names from him. One of his favorite running bits is to start with a food pet-name, then another, then gradually make them weirder and weirder and see how long it takes you to respond. "Honey, sugar, muffin, chocolate chip, flour, baking soda, one tablespoon vegetable oil..." And he continues until either one of you is laughing too hard for him to try and say another.

Aw this is very sweet :'( !! Pet / affectionate names ~in general~ have been talked about a bit before, and those would translate easily from dating into marriage

But you're so right + that's such a cute image ! Of them all, Flor is 100% the most likely to start using 'my [partner]' in place of the augur's name. Saying it as often as they can + with a smile every single time, not even because they really mean to, but because it's always on their mind and it makes them happy to such a degree that they can't help it from spilling over

Like, "I can't stay long! My 💗😊🥰 wife 🥰😌💖 and I are going to the market later today," or "Is it alright if I leave early? I'm joining my 💗😊🥰 husband 🥰😌💖 for lunch and I don't want them to wait on their own too long" or "I've got to get going now! My 💗😊🥰 partner 🥰😌💖 asked me to pick up something from home and I don't want to forget"

Just. Every single sentence / every time they refer to MC, to the point where Cían everyone's like 'okay we get it you're married shut up about it' lol

With the others, Cían still isn't big on affectionate names / terms of endearment, but with marriage or even after being together a long time, he'd soften a lot around the idea of it. While he wouldn't say it all that much himself—beyond maybe an off-hand mention that he's leaving to go see his [partner] every once in a while that he immediately regrets because of how silly he sounds and how much the very idea still makes his heart race after all this time—he'd really like (to an embarrassing degree) being referred to as MC's husband/spouse/partner, especially if it were in front of others

And with Sol or Khiita, I don't think either would change all that much with the marriage aspect, especially as they're both very open with the affectionate names they already use ! Sol would quite like the more 'possessive' aspect of being called 'my [partner]', but with calling MC, they'd probably just stick to MC's nickname or something obnoxious lol. Khiita is the same way, though her reasoning is more because she's settled in her choice of endearments and wouldn't feel the need for anything else or anything more

Do you have an best friend Charlie headcanon?

ooh here we go this may end up being a long one cause i have so many thoughts

so i imagine any friendship with charlie would be high key flirty, to the point where people think you’re dating all the time (and of course when they say that you both fake gag cause ew why would you date each other thats so gross) cause charlie is just so cheeky and a very touchy feely person, so it would look like you were dating

to go with that, i imagine that you’re childhood friends and have known each other forever, so you really don’t have a concept of personal space when it comes to each other, you’re always touching or sitting/standing right on top of each other and you don’t even realise you’re doing it, you’re just so used to each other

spontaneous adventures. whether its a trip to mcdonalds at 3am (MACCAS RUN!) or a random roadtrip where you just drive and spend time just the two of you, no destination in mind, theres never a dull moment with charlie

he would be so protective of you, any guy even thinks about looking your way and charlie is glaring at them from across the room. he scared off your prom date in high school cause he gave him a lecture about what he would do if you were treated badly and the poor kid was so intimidated he texted you and cancelled right after (which ended up being fine cause charlie was your date and you had way more fun than you would have with your original date)

you’d definitely have matching rings or bracelets or something, maybe even one of those cheesy best friends heart necklaces that kids get which you got as a joke but charlie LOVED IT and hasnt taken it off since

you know each others fast food orders/coffee orders off by heart and dont even have to ask what the other wants when you’re going out to eat or drink, you can order for each other with no issue at all

“girls” nights, where you do facemasks and paint each others nails and get wine drunk and just gossip about anything and everything. he tells you all about what’s happening on set and something dumb he and owen probably did, and you tell him about the girl in your class at college who got pregnant and has no clue which one of 5 guys the father is (and of course you’re both placing bets on who the baby daddy is)

speaking of owen, you 100% moved in with him and charlie when they were filming for jatp, and the three of you became known as the three musketeers. everyone always joked that if you found one of you the other two weren’t far away (and if you didnt go with him to vancouver then you were on the phone talking to charlie 24/7, counting down the minutes til you were reunited)

PET NAMES! you can’t remember the last time you actually called charlie by his first name, your go to was normally char, but you also frequently use bub or babe (which then fuels the dating rumours), and he only ever calls you by your nickname or some stupid name he gave you when you were kids like bubbles or something like that, which you pretend to hate but really you love it and wouldnt want it any other way

Who is your hero? Probably future me, i want to be able to grow up and be the better person that i hope they are, and the only way of knowing that is by making it happen.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be? New Zealand, Canada or USA. I lived in TX for 3 months and loved it there and I have family in NZ and Canada.

What is your biggest fear? Wasps, 100%. Not being stung but the way they look scares me.

What is your favorite family vacation? When we went to Krakow in Poland.

What would you change about yourself if you could? My skin color. I hate it so much.
