wow what a fun ask.

okay i want to preface this by saying that i’m not really into poly ships, but im going to make an exception for this and try to be fair.

1. james/regulus/barty/evan: 5/10

i could this happening like one time as a fun anniversary gift for one of the couples, but i could never see the four of them in an actual relationship.

2. lily/barty/evan: 7/10

i like this to the extent that it is far superior to jegulily which is absolutely despise. i can see barty and evan as people who might have a looser definition of relationships and jealous than james or regulus so rosekiller with lily could be really fun. lily seems soft enough to dull some of their edges. plus the fanart is hot

3. narcissa/lily: 9/10

there is a lot of potential here, especially for angst purposes, but i think this ship would work best in like a bdsm fic/setting. like narcissa is older than lily and she’s definitely the most put together of all the malfoys so i could see her domming lily and i love that for them.

4. james/regulus/sirius/remus: 7/10

putting aside the incest for a second. i could see this happening like once or twice. however i think regulus and sirius are both extremely possessive and jealous people, remus and james too but not to the same extent, so i dont think they would like to share. however i think the possessiveness could be hot depending on how it’s used.

5. bellatrix/rita/mrs. zabini: 3/10

the thing about mrs. zabini is that i just don’t think she likes being tied down and i can’t see her enjoying it with two partners. i like quillkiller but mrs. zabini throws a wrench in things.

6. draco/dragon: 9/10

i have read all the fics with this tag, however i think charlie/dragon works better. but the best option imo is like draco/dragon animagus. so like a drarry fic where harry is a dragon animagus? that would be 10/10

7. james/barty: 3/10

i feel indifferent to this ship, but i don’t think it would work out. one of my closest friends irl is so barty core and i think a james person would piss her the fuck off, they would never work

8. lily/pandora/mary: 6/10

i think there is potential here for something soft and sweet but i would only read this ship if one of them was evil and out to hurt the other two.

9. mary/marlene/dorcas: 1/10

i just cannot see marlene with mary like at all. i actually don’t even think these two would be friends post hogwarts based on their personalities. i think they would seriously annoy each other

10. lucius/snape: 8/10

again so much angst potential. i’ve read this ship a few times, it used to pop a lot as a background ship so i would often see it, and i feel like it can work but there has to be discussions about power dynamics here for it to read well. i prefer snape with a non-magical oc personally

What Your Favorite Sollux Ship Says About You

I swear ive been working so hard on Space Solkat, but ive had this idea in my head for well over a year and just decided i might as well make a post about it

This is all in good fun and jokes, but if you dont want your fav ship being critisized pls dont read this, just click off lmao

AraSol: You’ve been in the fandom for a very long time and/or you love relationships that just seamlessly work together, ships that Make Sense and are right there with no subtext and you love both of these characters and want them to be happy. This is a very classic ship and they are literally perfect for each other whether you read it pale or flushed

SolTav: You love nerdy boys, you love ships with characters that have similar interests but near opposite personalities, and you also love crack shipping

Solkat: This is no hate to arasol truthers, but if you prefer mlm ships, this is the sollux ship that makes the most sense/is the best. it has the most feel good potential. You understand/love both the characters very well, but you also love the spice that their dynamic brings

SolNep: You like opposites attract and you also like ships that have a gimmick. She lays on his keyboard and chews his wires, and also brightens his day and cracks at his grumpy boy exterior. Maybe you like Nepkat but don’t like the canon baggage where he’s mean to her

SolKan: There’s a very high likelihood that you ship them pale (correct) and like ships that have really good banter potential. You also want Sollux to dress up fancy but need an logical excuse for it. If you don’t ship them pale, youre a lesbophobe

ur so kind this is like. one of the sweetest asks ive ever received i was pacing all day and im just answering now because i wanted to have the time to write out a thoughtful response because ohhghgh my god u made my absolute week with this thank you SO much my angel !!!!!

starting this story it was so important to me that like . phys has Other Friends. i think i mentioned this before but i think a big part of the story is that Ouma's mindset is wrong and unhealthy which is definitely starting to be examined this late in the story and like. the way he goes about doing stuff is definitely (mostly) well-intentioned but his mindset and philosophies are so Off and Wrong that i think ONLY having his mindset to influence Phys would a) ensure that phys only develops in a way that makes them more like him, which is NOT good because his mindset is wrong and unhealthy, and b) would make them extremely lonely when that isnt what i want the story to be about. if i COULD i would go back and give them some more interaction with momota because he's ouma's foil character, but i like him giving phys advice and phys taking on bits of his philosphy, too. they basically take an amalgamation of their friends' perspectives and learn to have a healthier outlook that way. so yeah . its super important for phys to have friends, especially optimistic ones like momota, kiibo and chabashira .

MY BODY LIES!!!! i haven't forgotten about this, just planning on properly starting it after i finish sleep awake's main story because between that , my p5 fic, and my jojo fic its kind of A Lot. but amami will DEFINITELY be a prominent character in it because i love his and phys's relationship so much. i tried to stretch it as much as possible in the original story before i knew i had to kill him off :(( and YEAH so i think a bad ending will be the first chapter which will probably be if shinguuji succeeded in his murder attempt , mostly focusing on the aftermath and the effect it has on the rest of the characters which . was pretty heavy for a first chapter so i may make it the second instead lmao.

I CANT SAY MUCH ABT FUTURE STUFF but i CAN say that some of ch5 and a fair amount of ch6 will be different and im super excited to show you what i have in store for it !!! the tone i'm going for is bittersweet so . hopefully that tides you over for a bit :3

the new trio... the phys apostles as i'm calling them. they're so silly to me. something about each of them knowing phys in very unique ways . kiibo seeing phys as soon as they woke up and always being the first to believe in them , chabashira seeing phys after they killed shinguuji and being the only person to see that side of them, and saihara being a sort of mirror to phys's grief in the early chapters after they both lost the most important person to them ( at that time ). i thought it made sense that they would all be a little more reluctant to believe that phys had been totally brainwashed because they all have a lot more respect for them than that , and also just . know them better as a person than the others , who are definitely still well-intentioned , just ignorant.

ouma... my little freakweirdo bf . characterising him is such a challenge but im so so happy you enjoy how i've done it !!!! physouma's dynamic is my favourite i've ever written in anything, i think . it's exactly like you said !!! they're constantly on this weird emotional journey where phys is attempting to get closer and ouma is attempting to distance himself but its not working because they both care about each other so much and like. yeah . they make me a bit insane too . writing phys slowly discovering their feelings has been super fun too . i usually dislike the oblivious love interest trope because more often than not it feels like it's played for miscommunication problems BUT i feel like with ouma it only makes sense because like . its impossible to know where you stand with ouma even if he straight-up says 'im in love with you' you'd just be like ?? yeah ok buddy sure. good one . you got me.

autistic phys is so real to me as i obviously also have autism and . i was projecting super hard when i created them teehee. THE PERSONA FIC !!!! i know its been a while since i updated but i AM working on the next chapter its definitely not abandoned :3

In reality though azul hides in his octopot a lot of times, and while he’s not afraid of confrontation… he’ll definitely ask you to hell him out with a rude customer quite often.

Literally the dynamic of “he asked for no pickles.” JEGJDHD. Azul can stand up for himself hut he probably finds it immensely attractive when you stand up for him. He genuinely just swoons.

Local Plague Nurse? No no no, Local Dottolone Expert. Anyways~

1. That’s actually spot on for how I imagine Dottore smelling. I think I mentioned it in that one cologne ask I got from Ivy that both Dottore and Pantalone smell clean but in different ways. Pantalone smells well groomed, he smells of exotic soaps and expensive colognes. Dottore smells sterile, basically how you’ve described with that strong rubbing alcohol smell. I think how I described it was that Dottore smells like he’s cleaned up a crime scene but Pantalone smells like he’s covering one up.

2. I like many different flavours of Dottolone because Dottore’s eccentric nature and the different takes on Pantalone (because we barely know anything Hoyo) leaves a lot of creative liberty. There’s not exactly a right or wrong way to look at it. I enjoy like the trash gremlin/respected noble dynamic, or I guess like Jessica and Roger Rabbit (from the movie not the book). You have this ethereal beautiful figure and then there’s their goofy ass husband and they love each other very much. I think Pantalone finds Dottore’s antics very amusing (“he makes me laugh”) or at least until he’s the one funding the dumb shit he might be doing. Divorced and remarried is also funny especially if they’ve never been married to each other.

Your take is also a flavour I enjoy where Dottore is only soft when it comes to Pantalone, and Pantalone is only like fake sweet until he catches feelings and starts letting himself be vulnerable. Honestly anything can fit them.

I really enjoy @/nabakisan’s Dottolone art, because it’s both cute and their dynamics are so goofy and fun, but there’s also some depth to it depending on whichever comic you’re looking at. They also sometimes use screenshots from the game to explain their thought process/headcanons. Really, my best advice is look through some Dottolone artists/writers and see what dynamic calls to you the most.

I love your headcanon of suselle being ‘i love you but you’re not good for me’ kind of thing. To me, it really fits their personal dynamics

Mmmm I’ll use this ask to elaborate a bit more since it is a great segway, hope you dont mind anon, since you pretty much aced it I think

Discussion of abuse and family shit and general bad relationships below if not invested scroll away— this shit is super interesting to me but I know it’s not an e for everyone thing

There is a very interesting video on YouTube about how Noelle repeatedly displays signs of learned helplessness. From what I recall of it a part is attributed to rudys hospitalisation which, fair, but to me it stems from before. In my Dess and Asriel post I talk a bit about how I think the holidays exhibit the toxic parent-enabler parent-golden child-scapegoat child family dynamic, which is a relatively common one in dysfunctional families. I think Rudy enabled mama holiday off the very beginning, when he first flirted with her and she slapped him and he still went on to pursue a relationship and have children with her. Per rudy’s own admission mama holiday is “hard” on Noelle, enough his primary concern while in the hospital is that the two of them are alone at home— not a good sign, and speaks of him knowing this behaviour is repeated. This is not new

As for Susie, well. She eats chalk. She speaks of not having her own room. She drinks the milk alphys leaves in the alleyway. She repeatedly assumes people want her away or don’t want to be friends with her, like there is something unlovable about herself. She tells ralsei he must have gotten the wrong person when he says he thinks she’s the hero, and when Toriel tells her to call her family, she doesn’t. She can also spot Toriel is a good mother, and care about Kris upsetting her. She is more emotionally intelligent than expected of a teen— I’ve seen people speculate she is homeless, I’m not sure if I agree 100% but she is clearly neglected.

This is when it goes to shit, though. In a book called Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents (that changed my life by the way kek) a couple chapters describe the way neglected children respond- internalisers and externalisers are the primary two responses. Internalisers shoulder the weight of their neglect. They shift the blame onto themselves, and constantly strive for self improvement, introspect and self-flagellate. Externalisers shift the anger of neglect onto external factors and tend to seek sensory soothing (substances), lash out and be aggressive, and respond with anger at perceived injuries of the ego.

Noelle is an internaliser, Susie an externaliser. In addition to that, Noelle pretty much embodies the fawning response to trauma, where Susie displays many signs of the fight and flight responses. From another link that I have read a lot lately I share the following screenshots,

TLDR: Susie responds to perceived injury with aggression. We see this through chapter 1 repeatedly. Even before she knows whether or not Kris will snitch on her over the chalk, she’s ready to be aggressive to them. When Ralsei criticises her hostility, she changes sides. She responds to a perceived betrayal by Lancer not only with self deprecation but with rage. Even in chapter 2, her response to Monster Kid and Snowy speaking ill of Kris is to scare them.

The thing is SUSIE IS ALSO A TEENAGER. She can learn. Her behaviour can be modified if properly assessed, and it is obvious she is still at a stage where she doesn’t really want to be hostile— as soon as kris and Ralsei open up, she shows the considerate, dedicated, playful, protective friend she is. You see this in the text, “learning of the steep price to pay if things are achieved through intimidation.l” And this is what Ralsei teaches her when he stands up to her behaviour. He does it in a clumsy way at first, but it’s clearly seeping in later on, and his boundaries, the important ones, are fixed. He says no cakes until she stops being mean to him and indeed does NOT give cakes until susie verbally promises and keeps that behavioral change. That is something he can give her— both that education and the unconditional affection she wants desperately but is also afraid of losing. Susie needs someone assertive who will stop the fight response.

Then there’s Noelle:

Kind of fascinating noelle is a young reindeer… a fawn, if you will. I don’t know if this is intentional and I’m inclined to believe it’s not, but it definitely makes for some incredible symbolism kek. Notice how it says they attract abuse, neglect or aggression? We already have dialogue in Chapter 2 in which Noelle romanticizes Susie’s intimidation, wanting her to laugh at her and degrade her… and how could she not? She has fawned so much she has learned helplessness, not standing up to even Berdly, who isn’t intentionally hostile, and her own father normalises aggression by a romantic partner, makes it a funny incident in a happy marriage. And people tend to be aware of the pattern in which children of domestic abuse victims will grow up and attract similar partners.

The issue is… both of these are defense mechanisms. They don’t work for long term relationships. They’re responses to perceived danger that are generally unpleasant to adopt and the person does to guarantee themselves safety. This link speaks of a “downward spiral” that is pretty much how I see Suselle:

Susie is aggressive, Noelle romanticises it while clearly responding with what she herself describes as “the good kind of scary”, Susie sinks into her mechanism even further because, well, it is endorsed, so it works!, which makes noelle fawn even further… and so on.

Susie already perceives herself as a ruthless, violent machine. We see her project this onto others. She projects it thinking her classmates want her out. She projects it onto Lancer, asking him who would want to be her friend, anyway. She calls herself Violent Ax Susie and emphasises how enemies are made for beating up, putting this facade of pride on this aspect of herself. Ralsei’s gentleness shocks her because it disarms her intimidation response and she is so affection starved a single gesture of kindness from Noelle made her spare Noelle entirely…

And yet, right before the Ferris Wheel, Noelle tells her supposed dream figment of Susie that “she doesn’t care about anybody”, something Ralsei and Kris realised wasn’t true in a single day of actually talking to her and engaging with her. And Susie’s response? “I mean, TRUE.” She immediately sinks back into this defense mechanism that we KNOW is not true.

Oof!

Do I think they like each other, truly, at the beginning? Yeah, I totally do, especially because they’re prolly gonna be the canon ship. And there is, after all, this thing in most relationships called a honeymoon period.

They’re gonna have an amazing honeymoon period. But then reality begins to sink in. The spiral starts. Noelle’s own unsolved insecurities become people pleasing, fawning, and even jealousy since Susie is so casual with affection with friends and cares for them, we can see that even now at the beginning. Susie feels threatened, she fights. They fight. It goes to hell.

In my headcanon, it’s Susie who tells Noelle to break up, because I imagine Susie is emotionally parentified— which makes her aware of a bunch of emotional concepts that teens haven’t grasped too in depth generally. We see her have a broad moral understanding in canon, even if the way she words it can be a little clumsy. It is her who realises this is no fairytale, and splits the relationship, and it HURTS, but it’s ultimately what is best for them.

And that’s the suselle rant part 1 I guess

I actually have even more on this, specifically on what Noelle would benefit from in a partner, why I think kris has it, why I could see this happening even after the start of Noelle’s and Susie’s development… but this is huge and scary to post as is! So kek

sending this because you said something about questions or whatever but im rereading homestuck right now and damn does it feel weird to look back on when the comic was genuinely good (had flaws obviously but yknow) and the characters felt more fleshed out because after act 5 their personalities just become more and more flanderised and simplified into single traits. like dont get me wrong act 6 does introduce some of my favourite characters and ideas but its just not executed well at all in my opinion. so many relationship dynamics left under-explored, so many arcs and plot points are incomplete or have unfulfilling conclusions, dead horses (vriska(mostly)) beat again and again instead of following through with plot threads introduced earlier to explore new ideas. i thought i was imagining things but yeah jesus you can really tell where hussie stopped wanting to write the comic

I don’t really agree on this. there’s a lot of genuinely good things in all parts of homestuck if you look for them. Like the meenah games were alright all things considered and an easy to figure out way of introducing the dancestors even if the dancestors sucked, which could’ve been used for more.

The first 3 acts of homestuck can be pretty tedious to get into, I struggled for years to get into homestuck because there was nothing really happening and I couldn’t find myself getting that attached to the beta kids and their journey.

act 6 is when the alpha kids got introduced (literally my fave homestuck characters of all time) and I could analyze act six ALL DAY. They’re so much more interesting for me personally than the beta kids because they’re so personalized and not as upfront emotionally and psychologically as the betas. They were done pretty well imo. I’d *say* that the only thing I’d be frustrated at is the aftermath of the reset and what it did to characters, especially their growth and development. There was a lot of people writing besides hussie on late act six.

I’m curious to know where you think it failed exactly, air your frustrations out so to speak. If you’re talking about how the beta session got swept under the rug post-retcon, hard agree. But I don’t really see where you’re coming from. Feel free to elaborate anon.

hi, i am this anon and i saw that other anon, i am sorry for the misunderstanding. i want roseeddie to be canon, i dont even want jayrose to be canon because i think they are better match to each other but in fandom i would love if there was more fics for jason and eddie or jason-eddie-rose as either platonic or romantic(especialy since i like to think them as outlaws too).

Man after reading the previous ask i just wanted to commiserate a bit.

Even though lukerosa is my otp since launch, i’ve always been most charmed by artem, who was so awkward and sincere and sweet. I adore how supportive artem and rosa have been of each other from the very beginning and in any version of events i like to imagine that they grow to become close friends and partners-in-crime-fighting. Their immense mutual respect and admiration is just a great foundation for a relationship.

Now, I have more of an attachment to the pre-1st anniv cards because i’m a sucker for mutual pining, but i’ve enjoyed the post-anniv cards too because it felt like a natural progression of their relationship. To find out that the writing quality for artem’s stories eventually gets worse and worse is very disheartening. When the writing starts out amazing but becomes terrible later on, it is always worse because it feels like a betrayal.

I’m going to keep playing ToT especially since he’s not my only fave, but I really hope the writing gets better again, artem deserves only the best, most tightly-written, and consistent characterisation. And I hope even more that his soon-to-be-announced 3rd anniv card is good — if it can redeem the previous bad cards… well that’s the dream.

as a fellow lukerosa enjoyer (their interactions are always such a treat!!! they're the best genre of childhood friends to lovers due to that eight year time skip and the draaaama that comes with it. i still think about luke's personal story 4 to this day i SWEARRRR), genuinely thank you for the kind words, it really means a lot!! 😭😭

i totally agree with your thoughts on artem's earlier cards, you took the words right out of my mouth :,,) we're also on the exact same wavelength of the pre-1st anniversary cards - they're my absolute most cherished favorites. entwined fate, lost gold, sickness and in health, skadi, railroad, first birthday, aaaa..... some of my absolute favorites.. the original personal stories 1-4 are my favorites across the board too (my favorites definitely being artem's and luke's !!)

gosh yeah i think that's why i'm so upset! i genuinely and truly adore artem as a character, and i adore his older cards. this is to the point where i used all of my saved s-chips on the previous select-an-ssr banner to get his railroad card instead of his second anniversary card!!

to make it even more baffling, i haven't noticed a quality drop like this in the other boys?! if anyone reading is a fan of the other three, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, but luke, marius, and vyn's cards all stay very consistent personality and plot wise imo. i can't help but wonder if something happened to artem's writing team?? the writing literally feels so different, i can't explain it. it's like. a lack of understanding of his charm. they dont understand why people liked him, or any of the more nuanced aspects to his character and his dynamic with rosa.

i miss them being Best Partners with artem's dry sense of humor and rosa cheering him on over the most mundane of a shit (like posing against a wall HAHA) and them taking their time and artem opening up and becomimg genuine friends who make jokes and tease each other and the strong mutual respect and consent and ;-;;; sniff

OH I DEFINITELY AGREE!!!! Nothing spells Slowburn more than Tisoquirrel (imho). I mean, we have a nerd that might be oblivious to more intimate feelings and a stubborn himbo. Literally what could go wrong?

But I can't help but also find it hilarious that after all this time they still won't confess their feelings!! (Let's be honest, that's why we love them lmao)

But it also makes a lot of sense why the both of them would wait things out until everything is more peaceful and stable before they start confessing. After all, the both of them has already lost important people in their life duel to unforeseeable event and not only that but one of them quite literally left the other as well during the Infection duel to the difficult times and... peculiar circumstances. (Even if they already talked it out and Tiso forgave Quirrel, feelings are still feelings. And they can still linger at times)

Having that kind of stability and peace can ground the both of them even further and slowly find more courage to do new things and take things it to the next level.

And honestly? At the end of the day Vigilante Tiso and Quirrel's relationship, be it platonic or romantic, is still a comforting and beautiful one regardless of all their differences. And that's what makes them amazing. (Like that small comic where Quirrel covered for Tiso from the guards, even if they were just friends at the time, it was so amazing and I loved seeing their friendship bloom. The dynamic of a usually well-behaved scholar and a rowdy but well-meaning vigilante is just *chef's kisses* PERFECTION!!!) (On another note, I can relate so hard on wanting to doodle something before your mind starts throwing even more thoughts. Just--- F e l t. I have so many Tisoquirrel thoughts I rarely post myself after all lol ffsdfsdsf. Regardless, it's really nice seeing your thoughts on them!! Your take on them is amazing!)

I just?? dont really have much to add to this ask like- you- you get it- you’ve taken a lot of the words right out of my mouth-

Like yeah tisoquirrel just kinda screams a slowburn to me - like I interpret Quirrel as kinda accepting of his feelings and going ‘ok well anyway that won’t happen so-’ and Tiso as a ‘no, nuhuh nope, this ain’t happening’ - so that contributes to slowburn, but also because idk, they just feel like they’d build up from a strong bond first before jumping the gun into a romance. Tiso needs a stable ground to admit his more vulnerable side without deflecting after all.

Middle paragraphs just agree. Even when Xero, Markoth and Monomon were ok and back, feelings are feelings. They linger, they can creep up on you in a moment and they take time to fade into scars rather than wounds. And yknow, sometimes scars flare up - even for a short while. It’s just better to wait until you’re ready to deal with those feelings because otherwise you could potentially do something that would go the direction you don’t want it to. Best to let yourself know you’re safe before you figure out those more intimate emotions.

I hold platonic relationships to a very very high regard, sometimes even more than romantic depending on the relationship at play, so to me romantic pairings I have usually have a foundation of a great platonic relationship too because that’s just, it’s important to me. I really appreciate the two as both kind of dynamics!! I can’t help but love dynamics between opposites that have some things in common, it’s the mutual influence and spark of new things that gets me. You never have to 100% relate to someone to be close to them and even if you get them by like 20%, you still get them on that deeper level and it’s just-ugfhfhfgfhgf

Just dropping in to praise you on the way in which you write Erik and Wille’s relationship in the lake house AU. I usually dont find fics with Erik heavily featured very engaging because most authors tend to portray him as this saint, which seems unlikely given the few scenes in the show. I know the main part of the lake house au in the sexiness (which I fucking love don’t get me wrong—bottom!wille hell yes) but I wanted to just let you know that I found the few scenes you wrote between Erik and Wille super interesting and would totally be up for a fic where you explored it more in the future

Hi hello!! Sorry I’ve left this sitting in my inbox for a bit—I’ve enjoyed coming back to it. This is such a lovely compliment! I feel the same way about a lot of fics with Erik, though on my first pass of writing this I sort of lazily sank into that easy, saintlike characterization of him. But it’s not as interesting, nor is it actually reflective of what it feels like to have an older sibling like Erik, and I ended up going back in and making his character more complex and adding some friction and nuance to their relationship. So I really really appreciate hearing it paid off! Thank you for taking the time to send this :)

Also I got much deeper into the Erik/Wille relationship in my oneshot create a storm and bury it deep if you’re looking for more exploration of that dynamic! A lot of the discussions about practicing kink safely are a tiny bit alienating to me as someone who wants a 24/7 TPE dynamic with long term behavioral and personality changes. And you know what, that’s okay. What I am drawn toward and find fulfilling is extreme. Some of the intense long-term conditioning I’ve been through has changed how I think and what my priorities are and even how my body responds to stimuli. I find that incredibly hot and emotionally moving. But I understand that it comes with risks and that it’s not what most people want.

But it is lonely, navigating kink spaces and reading the resources people put together, and seeing something I have requested, advocated for, negotiated to get, and consented to be portrayed as abuse. People in kink talk about how the difference between abuse and play is consent, but then will label certain activities, certain levels of control, certain restrictions and forms of conditioning as innately abusive or as red flags. And that doesn’t add up.

For example, I reblogged a list of hypno play red flags a week or so ago, which identified some of the long-term emotional and physical changes I am working toward and actively *want* to experience as being signs of abuse. Feeling pain when disobeying your Dom, for example, was taken as a sign of being abused. Experiencing pleasure when taking part in an activity you don’t actually enjoy was another one. These are two things I find incredibly hot and appealing and have worked toward, actively in my submission, for some time.

It doesn’t bother me that most people would never want that, or that it’s being presented as something for new and vulnerable subs to look out for. But the idea that my goals and dreams are creepy and insidious in the eyes of most of the hypno community? That really does make me a little sad. It makes me feel like I can’t open up about what I’m doing. And isolating oneself like that, as we all know, is not effective for preventing abuse.

Similarly, I see a lot of posts in the kink world declaring that it’s objectively wrong for a relationship to be assymmetrical in terms of who gets to have sex with other partners, or date other people. Or even posts just saying it’s flat out wrong to want exclusivity out of a relationship. Polyamory is what makes a lot of people’s hearts sing, and that’s great. But I like and want a relationship where my Dom has control over when and if I have sex with somebody else, and though I do emotionally need them to be mindful of how their actions affect me, I like the idea of them having freedoms that I do not have. Yeah, relationships where one partner controls the other’s sexuality are often abusive! But the difference between kink and abuse... is consent. and this whole assymetry was explicitly my idea and fantasy and what makes my heart sing when I think about it, personally.

Idk, many of these lists of red flags and bold declarations about what is safe and good and what is bad and dangerous are perfectly useful for complete newbies. or for people who approach kink as this playful activity between two equals that begins and ends with the scene. but if you’re going for something more long term and committed, if you have darker and edgier dreams, if you’ve deliberately sought out and cultivated a dynamic where there is intense control, and that’s what you want... it’s really easy to feel stigmatized, even within the kink community. and that’s a real fucking shame, and we should all know better than most communities how much people need space to feel like their desires are okay, and that they are okay as they are.

i was ashamed of my desire to be hypnotically controlled for many years. it feels like it was a desire i was born with. i dont remember life without fantasizing about it. yet i didnt speak a word of it to anyone until i was about twenty eight. and getting to practice brainwashing and hypnosis play with people after that, and find some corner of the community i could be welcomed within, it was quite soothing. i went from thinking i was a sick freak who was the only person in the world who fantasized about what i fantasized about, to realizing i wasn’t alone, and that a fulfilling life was possible for me. it sucks that even within the community tho, my more intense desires and dreams sometimes activate all that shame all over again -- and get discussed by other people as if they’re some horrible thing.

“kink shaming” is a term that people use pretty lightly. it’s seen as not all that damaging. usually the phrase is evoked as a joke. but what’s a worse experience, a more isolating and psychologically damaging one, than shame? and why would we, a community of mostly queer, gendernonconforming, marginalized people, think that it’s a light thing for a person to be ashamed of their sexual needs and deepest dreams?

idk man. there used to be a Fetlife group for people who were genuinely into and practicing long term brainwashing in real life. it got deleted. hypno content gets deleted off most of the porn sites because its viewed as innately coercive and abusive. im sick of being treated like there is something wrong with me. there isn’t. if people know of spaces where people are openly discussing or writing about long term, serious conditioning, personality changes, desire changes, behavior modification, identity changes, etc thru hypnosis and brainwashing and training, let me know! because it would be cool to hear from other people who are consenting to this stuff and want to do it in a risk tolerant way and document their wins and losses and fun discoveries.

I am glad for the valuable service you render to the fandom. People who sincerely consider this a rabid 'anti blog' make me laugh. Instead you're providing crirical thinking to the BSD fandom, which should come naturally to those who are really invested in it, but such practical views are surprisingly lacking in 90% of this fandom.

Anyways, tho i dont agree with just 2 - 3 of your points - i agree with many many of them. Thank you for having eyes and noticing the obvious red flags in Dazai's behaviour. Lol I still ship Dazatsu for certain stuff, but earlier when I was in a bad place someone pointing out its toxic aspects ruined my mood. But now im in a good place and mentally tough, so I realise that this toxicity will actually give Atsushi incredible, very important character growth where he learns to stand up for himself, be wary of red flags and become independent and find actual beneficial people to rely on.

I really do appreciate this ask, but I don’t have any problem with people who disagree with the Anti-Dazai Series.

I just wanna make it clear — this blog is only my opinion, not a moral standpoint. I don’t consider it right or wrong to agree or disagree with the takes I post here, and there are more than one valid way of interpreting a character. Of course, I agree wholeheartedly with everything I post, but it really is just a matter of opinion.

So long as someone can cite the sources [in this case, quote the manga I guess] to back up their viewpoint, it’s 100% legit and valid. And to be honest, I don’t think it would be too difficult to make a valid case in Dazai’s favor. I’d go as far as to say that I can easily make a “Pro-Dazai Blog”, where I’d show the most positive interpretation of all of Dazai’s actions. Sure I’d disagree with it all, but I doubt it would be too difficult to make.

And to touch on the subject of shipping: I’m not into shipping, and don’t ship anything from any fandom (I’m more into found family dynamics than ships). But I don’t consider it wrong to ship something that would be toxic or dysfunctional irl— the whole point of shipping is to explore two characters’ dynamics if they were in a relationship, right? I don’t really see a problem with people going “hey what would these two be like together? Oh, they’d mentally and emotionally destroy each other? Neat.”

I’ve mentioned this before but I’ll say it as many times as I can: The media you consume isn’t a moral standpoint*. If you wanna see what it would be like for certain characters to be in a relationship and you go read some fanfiction of it, you’re not a horrible person if the relationship is bad. I mean, my main is a Classic Lit/ Shakespeare blog. Obviously it’s not full of posts about characters in happy, functional relationships.

[*Nuance!! There are exceptions but I don’t feel like getting into them right now!]

Anyway. Sorry if this came off as critical. I don’t mean any of this directed at you specifically, I just wanted to make my stance on this stuff clear.

favorite thing about them: how kind and down-to-earth he is. at the end of the day, he just wants to help people, and the fact that power never gets to his head and that he willingly and without a fight lets go of incredible powers, while frustrating to read because it’s fun to have op character, is also so interesting in characterizing him

least favorite thing about them: can’t think of one, he’s a great character all around with good flaws to balance everything out

favorite line: i don't have the exact quote but when parallax first confronts him and he reaffirms how he wants to be a superhero and a green lantern even if he wasn’t cut to be one at first, it’s such a good line about how he decides to do good

brOTP: a tie between guy and connor, i love the dynamics they both have with him

OTP: alex, i’ll never forgive how coldly they killed her, and then jade from the few issues i’ve read they’re cute together!

nOTP: i guess hal? i don't hate it and i can see why some people ship it but i prefer the mentor/fatherly dynamic where hal guides kyle and hoovers over him it’s fun

random headcanon: projecting a bit here, but i dont think he listens to podcast and radio show while drawing, i think he limits himself to music because words are too distracting, so various 90s artists and anime soundtracks

unpopular opinion: i guess it’s not unpopular amongst his fan, but he should be terribly OP and overpowered and not once phased by it. i hate how they took ion away from him and now he’s just a regular lantern, sodam yat is fun but kyle should be the guardian’s precious pet project they cherish and who can do everything

favorite thing about them: her heart! She’s dead set on doing the right thing no matter what, and she has such a strong morality and sense of loyalty

least favorite thing about them: to the surprise of no one, how unchecked her military background is, i wish it could have been acknowledged some more instead of just ‘that’s why she can fight!’ and not thinking twice about the implication

favorite line: no man left behind, like!! you’re family you come with us, no matter what

brOTP: nile and andy, they’re foil of course they’re besties

OTP: with her current state it’s hard to think of love for her, but andynile under the right context can be good, even if i prefer the mentor relationship. moose from the comics is cute too, i think it could be good to explore loss and her immortality

nOTP: bookernile, it depends for me because it has some potential but if not done well it tends to feel too much like putting to the single together and. eh.

random headcanon: she uses physical activity to ground and calm herself, she fidgets a lot and bounces her leg and going for a run helps clear her mind

unpopular opinion: she’s not perfect and treating her like she can do no wrong ever is a disservice to her character, she has flaws and it should be included
