“Hiya there, pretty boy.”

Megumi scowled, “You’re late.”

You felt your lips spilt into a grin, he was pretty when he scowled too, you couldn’t help it.

“Aww. Did you miss me? Were you eagerly waiting for a chance meeting with your beloved?” you teased.

“It's not a chance meeting if we agreed to meet at a specific time only for you to waltz in half an hour late. That's just you being irresponsible, “ he shot back. But you didn’t miss that he didn’t say anything about the ‘beloved’ part. You also didn’t miss that under his tousled messy hair the tips of his ears were faintly blushed.

“Cute”, you thought to yourself.

“I’m sorry to have kept milord waiting but it’s not easy to gather information on the location of forbidden cursed tools.”

Three days ago, Megumi had called you asking for the information on them. You were surprised on two accounts. It was the first time he had sent you a message longer than four words. It was also a bit of a shock to you as Megumi, while not a stickler for rules exactly, was asking for information on a potentially dangerously illegal task to you.

Then again, the Jujustu Technical school kids had no one else to get such information from other than you. The higher ups won’t just let them get access to such information despite leaving Special Grade Cursed items in Stevenson screens. It was ridiculous to you.

“Do you have a fight today?”

Oh, this was new. Megumi never asks you questions about this part of your life. He despised that you took part in the illegal fighting rings for Jujustu sorcerers. It was the only way you could make a living though, you’d rather die than join the school.

“My my. You know what this is, Megumi? This is a personal question. This indicates that you have taken an interest in my personal life. What’s next? Are you going to ask me out on a date?”

“And if I do?’

Huh. It was your turn to turn flushed in the face. You’ve flirted so excessively with your crush as if to make up for his taciturn nature. Never in a billion years did you think you’d end up here.

“What?” you asked, lamely.

A smile tugged at the corners of Megumi’s lips, Not so chatty now are you, he thought.

“A date. It's where people romantically interested in each other go some place together and eat and stuff. Now that I've said food is involved you’re surely not going to say no arent you?”

Your appetite was undeniably legendary. And you were living on cup noodles, so any chance you got with free food was a battle to witness as you demolished plate after plate. But this wasn’t just any idiot asking you out.

It was Megumi. Megumi Fushiguro, the boy you’ve been (not so secretly) pining after ever since he beat your ass in a fight at the underground rings. He, along with Yuuji and Nobara had stumbled on the rings while investigating a case. The boss had promised them some information on a cursed spirit if they made the day’s show legendary. That’s how you had ended up pitted against Megumi. It was a long battle. You were the ring’s top contender until he came in. The fight was won by a hair breadth. You could both barely stand up after it.

And then covered in blood and panting like his life’s last breath was being taken each time, Megumi had never looked as beautiful. You couldn’t stop thinking about him.

So you wormed your way into being their informant. You flirted every chance you got. When Megumi offered up his number for, “Easier information exchange, I don’t want to hang around your stupid fighting rings every time I want something from you.”

But he had. Every rare holiday that the school offered him, he spent hanging around the rings watching you fight. The days you caught him hanging around he pretended to have been waiting to see you for information. Then after completing whatever task he had thought up at the last minute together, you both would have dinner.

He adored seeing you eat. You ate with such relish of the food. Your mouth stuffed and your eyes eagerly scanning for what you should take a bite of next. It was a secondary sight to seeing you in battle though.

Each kick, and punch delivered with absolute surety. Your cursed technique might have been dull, but you wasted no amount of cursed energy. Every move was calculated to utter precision and you moved with the grace of a dancer, and attacked with the strength of a seasoned warrior.

Megumi knew he sounded cocky as he asked you out, but his heart was hammering inside his ribs.

“So?” He asked. “Do you want to go on a date with me, Y/N?”

“Why?” you asked, all of a sudden not too sure about anything. Your insecurities coming at you in a rush before your insides which were screaming at you to shut up and just say yes.

But Megumi was prepared. He knew you from months on watching you move. You might fight fiercely and flirt shamelessly but he’s also seen you after fights lost, drowning in self-doubt and he knows how hard you find it to trust those on your side. It's not easy being raised to destroy and finding yourself in a moment like this that promises something more. Something like love.

So, he had known when he came today that you would ask him this question.

Megumi stepped froward and extended his hand. He softly brushed away the stray hair that fell on your face. From up this close, he could smell the familiar scent of soap on you, your sweet breaths coming out slow and heavy from how close you both were. He tipped your head towards his face.

Your heart was in your throat now. Ready to jump. He was so close. You could see his long. wispy eyelashes touching his cheeks in full detail. He was so fucking pretty.

“Why?” he repeated.

You nodded slowly, “Why?” you repeated.

“Why, because I like you. Because if you flirt with me once more and I’m not able to do anything about it then my heart might just explode.”

You felt your lips perk up into a smile. “What do you want to do about it?”

Unable to hide his smile anymore, he let it break out in its full glory. It was blinding to see. How could anyone smile like that, you wondered.

“This,” he said in response to your final teasing. He leaned in and pressed his lips to yours, he tasted like peppermints and the promise of something more. Something like love.

So you around 5 years old and live in the Null Sector with the Omnics the reason for this is simple because of Ramattra.

Once on a Mission Ramattra was done with killing a few humans who hurt an omnic but before He left He heard crying.

This is how you ended up in there.

You never knew your real parents but you didnt Care. All the Omnics were so nice to you. And you even saw Ramattra as a Father figure.

Sadly He is most of the time gone so you dont really See him but when He is home he makes sure to spend a Lot of time with you.

You are like the daughter He never can get.

But sadly one day some dumb humans followed him to the null Sector thinking they can destroy them all.

Ramattra was the first to act.

"(y/n) Go to your room and dont come out until I am Back"

You did Walk to your room but turned around and run Back.

You wanted to be there for your Dad.

Then you saw him outside with the humans around him.

"I advice you all to leave otherwise you must face the consequences" He didnt want to fight here making it a risk you might see or hear anything.

"How about we take you apart and than Just burn everything down. I like this more. You Guys?" "Hell ye" "absolut" and more.

And with that Ramattra and the Humans starts to fight.

The fight lasted awhile until you saw that Ramattra was slowly losing. He didnt Had as much strenght as He thought He Had.

"No!" screaming you run out to Ramattra and hug him. "Please dont hurt him"

The other Humans were a bit shocked seeing a child here and hugging this Thing.

"Kid get away from it. Now." " No! Dont hurt my daddy!"

Everyone was shocked. The humans because you called this Thing a father. Ramattra because ifs the first time he hears you calling him your Dad.

"Thats it." One of the men was trying to pull you away from him but a standing up Ramattra stopped him.

"Not you nor any of you will touch my daughter!" Holding you in his arms Ramattra turns into His Nemesis form holding you Close to his chest with his normal arms while the other two are ready to punch all of them.

But it didnt come to it. All of the humans got scared and run away screaming.

Making sure they are gone Ramattra then Looks down to you. "I thought i told you to Go to your room, (y/n)." "I know. But i was worried something will happen to you Dad"

If He could He would be smiling from ear to ear. "Nothing will happen to me. After all i have to come Back to you."

HIEI, THE LOVE OF MY LIFE, I ADORE HIM SO MUCH, HES SUCH A WONDERFUL CUTE TSUNDERE BASTARD. literally the main cast is full of characters with "contradicting" traits that just work SO WELL in making them interesting and fun

kuwabara (the one in blue) is a precious himbo, a very loud delinquent kid who loves to fight but has an honor code he will ALWAYS abide by and has a cute little kitten he adores!!!

yusuke (the one in green) is similarly a delinquent and, honestly, is more of an asshole LOL but he despite his rudeness he doesnt hesitate to put his life on the line for others!

hiei MY LOVE is The Edgy One and always acts like they rest in the group arent his friends but he always is there to help when hes needed and clearly worries for their safety 🥰 and he has a sister hes very sweet and protective over!!! and hes also just Full Of Trauma that i wont get into as more of his backstory is revealed later in the show. and hes just an absolute badass and really hot,,, (forces myself to move on or ill just ramble endlessly about him)

THEN theres hieis lover partner kurama (the red head, and my big kin!!!!), whos by far the sweetest of the 4, is a total mamas boy, BUT hes also a centuries old fox demon known for his thievery and cruelty and was changed when he was almost killed and had to transfer his soul into an unborn human child to stay alive, where his human mom's love changed him to be kinder :'3 (none of that is a spoiler really, this is info he literally states very soon after his introduction) but even though hes changed, hes still can be absolutely RUTHLESS to his enemies. even hiei states early on that he chose kurama as his partner because he wouldnt want him as an enemy

i was biiig hyperfixated on this show for a while there, i just absolutely LOVE stories that explore the gray areas of things, so when this show gets into that sorta shit with the hero society its a BIG fave. plus the characters are really fun, todoroki is my fave hehe

3. She-ra (reboot)

another previous hyperfixation, i just really love these characters and honestly theyre so fun to ship in a big ol poly pile lol. tbh i miss being fixated on this one, i had sooo much fun with it ♡

4. Talentless Nana

this was a shorter hyperfixation, but MAN this show gave me EMOTIONS. i dont wanna say too much about it because i think its best to watch the first episode without knowing too much about it, but there is a BIG TWIST at the end of the first episode, and the "genre" of the show completely shifts for all of the episodes after it. if you like darker series, i def recommend this one :3 i just hope itll get more seasons!! but at least theres the manga to continue on with after the first season!

5. Avatar the Last Airbender

This moment i thought he was gonna do the same thing but instead, he pulled Clouse in the portal and used him as leverage to pull himself out. I think he realized and grew from this.

everything everywhere all at once thoughts (NOT spoiler free)

i’m not a movie-goer. i think i’ve seen 3 total movies since 2020, including pre-pandemic, in theaters. before that, i only went if my friends wanted to go.

i went to see everything everywhere all at once due to a random retweet of a neil gaiman tweet from april 17 about how you should absolutely see this movie in theaters if at all possible, knowing nothing about it if given the chance. it leaves theaters near me on thursday, and there was a late-night showing yesterday, which is my favorite kind of showing to attend, so, hey. why not? um. 

bruh.

the core of everything everywhere all at once being, simultaneously: 1. one of the best visualizations of a queer kid’s mental health (the freaking bagel being built to hold the weight of everything she saw in the world so she could see if she “could finally die?” because she wanted the pain to stop?? her masking that pain constantly under a colorfully nihilistic exterior when it’s profoundly miserable to bear and she desperately hopes, in part, that someone [her mom] will face this “absolute truth” with her and show her a different way to view it/live it/bear it?) 2. one of my favorite depictions of the complex relationship between a child + their parents ive seen in visual media (”i love them, i want them to love me,they  hurt me trying to love and i hurt them back on purpose and i don’t know how to compromise to make this possible [because i haven’t realized compromise is even necessary]” going both ways); the fact that evelyn sincerely fucked up not just her relationships, but also the lives of her daughter + husband, and that despite that the consistent narrative thread through the whole of the movie is “im taking drastic action because you arent listening to anything else, but i just want us to talk“ 3. honestly the interwoven-ness of it all is part of what gives it its brilliance, that the evelyn we follow needs the perspectives of all these fragmented could-have-beens to broaden her own internal perspective, which allows her to reach out to her family and make the best of all of those paths for the life that she has. i also adore how well they portrayed the seductiveness of joy’s nihilism + depression bc!! yeah! that’s what it’s like! and how waymond’s core philosophy: yes, life is cruel, but i choose the beauty and the small joys and kindness anyway, because this world won’t make me hard, is consistently seen as weak and silly until, like...

honestly, i think that’s the hardest thing to do in this life. i think it’s a quiet resilience, but perhaps the strongest. + i adored that this movie seemed to agree. 4. the fact that even in her most “successful” lives, where if she’d done just one or two things differently the evelyn we follow knows she could have had all this---the fact that the movie takes the time to break down the difficulties that she has in these lives, or the joys in the ridiculous small lives; the fact that it’s always, no matter the measure of success, about the few glimpses where everything makes sense, and you’re never robbed of that no matter the size of the life you live if you’re willing to let those moments in...yeah. yeah. of course there’s so much more. the construction of the rock universe being voiceless, spoken in dialogue tags on the screen? i loved it. i also loved the font choice. the leitmotif in the fight scenes + the freaking hot dog universe with deirdre + at other junctures just.

after i saw the movie, i went to burger king because it was one of the few places open at 1am near me. i ordered, and as i pulled forward, i realized (panicking), that i...had completely left my wallet at home. so i don’t peel out of line, because, i dunno, that feels rude...there’s only one car in front of me, anyway. i pull forward, and sheepishly, apologetically explain that i don’t have my wallet, have a good night, i’m very sorry. “oh, hey, you just had the large fries and the chicken sandwich, right?” the manager gives me a kind smile. “here ya go. have a good night.”

I’m a 24 yr old woman, unlabeled :). I work in the fashion industry and I am a very “fashionable” person, I love shopping (perhaps a little too much haha) and doing hair, makeup etc. I also adore just relaxing, reading a good book, listening to Lana del Rey or Mitski, taking a candle lit bath, picing flowers and having a picnic etc, I can however get a bit adventurous and I love traveling, and I try to go on atleast one trip a year and I would love to have a SO to adventure with but still settle down. I’m definitely a marriage girl, idk about kids maybe one or two? Would depend on SO opinion :). I really enjoy art, not just painting/drawing but looking at art and appreciating it, specially renaissance art. I love a good trip to the museum, art and historical (I’m a bit of a history nerd). I enjoy the winter a lot, even though I do enjoy the grassy fields and warmth of summer I love the snow, skiing, ice skating and snowball fights are big loves of mine.

Personality wise I am stubborn, loyal, playful and very sassy. I probably could not date someone who was overly serious but I would need someone mature enough to have serious conversations. The stubbornness I’m working on but if I believe I’m in the right I will not give up, even if it seems like I have I can be VERY petty and I do not forget haha. I’m very loyal. You hate them? No, WE hate them. I of course have my limits and when that trust is broken it can never really be the same for me. The sass is probably my favorite trait, I cannot go a sentence without saying something ironic or sassy, its my sense of humor. My worst trait is probably that at first sign of “danger” I kinda just say “nope” and thats that, so I would need someone understanding with that.

Some dealbreakers: I do not date people who arent feminists and believe in human rights like blm etc. I probably couldnt date someone who didn’t show affection or love towards me ( I need to know I’m loved 😫). Couldnt date someone controlling. Couldnt date someone who doesnt like animals and small children (I have smaller siblings). Respect is important to me and treating people with kindness.

It would also just be a great addition because, well, you'll be the future queen. It's always a plus to look amazing in that position - and Thorin is a big fan of it too. So you got family approval!

Just one more little detail: You said you'd need someone showing you that they love you, and don't you dare question whether Fili would do that. You praise him, ruffle his hair and say that you love him infront of everyone, making his heart beat so fast.

When you both are alone, he blushes and hugs you to hide his face. He actually loves when you baby him but when you are alone he is way too comfortable with it. Even if its in public, he gets a boost up when you do that. He just doesn't show it... or he thinks.

He is a Literal Baby himself even if he is so tall and intimidating. He hides his face when you baby him. He sometimes gets nosebleeds and you have to take care of him.

You try not to baby him in front of others much because you want that expression of his to yourself... completely,

But out of habit when you baby him in public, he turns red and stops talking or sometimes starts stuttering, which you find so cute that, you get the nosebleed.

He looks at you with his puppy eyes whenever he needs affection from you, while you maybe working on something or when he just needs your attention and comfort.

Especially when he takes his dino form, you get so happy and praise him and rub his tail.

ok 3.0+1.0 longpost -_-

it’s difficult for me to describe how I feel about 3.0+1.0 as a film because it’s artistic vision is just a 25 year cultivated response to the otaku fixation on nge. this film hardly feels like it can stand on it’s own feet as a coherent story -- it’s constantly introducing and reinterpreting symbols, contexts and concepts in order to lay down some kind of grounded world while also wanting to be evocative of the freeform flow of feelings occurring in EoE/Ep25/26. if this movie was it’s own thing and just living in the shadow of it’s predecessor, I could probably live with it and maybe even say that I liked it, but it’s flip flopping on if it wants the metanarrative to drive the story or if it wants to erect a new mythology of Eva altogether completely squanders maximizing the potential of doing either. what were left with is a very cowardly iteration of the message at the end of nge -- “human connections are important, even if they can be painful” becomes “ if we show you what you wanted to see for the past nearly 30 years, will you grow up now?”

"Defeated" feels like how I would describe the ethos of this film.

reiQ’s farmer adventures were cute, but in a way that felt bittersweet- because this character is not actually rei. not simply because she is not ayanami, but because she carries no actual development from her previous iterations like the other characters of rebuild. reiQ answers the question of “what if rei was actually as moe as she looks in official art” but forgets to pull the rug out from beneath you to unveil the depths of her turmoil. while Ayanami would say “I am not your doll to control”, reiQ has almost every aspect of her character dictated to her by other people - and this is depicted as fulfilling and human (because Anno wants you to get a job and have kids). not even her name is her choice. her sudden death only exists to serve as a motivator for shinji. I wanted to believe that this was some commentary on how a relationship without pain and loss cant exist, but it seems unlikely as rei (1, 2, 3, Q, Ayanami, lilith, etc) does not have an arc in this film. also the TV production quality of the village segment made it feel like I was watching a 12 episode sol as opposed to an actual film.

funnily enough, my feeling towards reiQ made me feel retroactive distaste towards 1.0 and 2.22. I’ve never thought rebuild was good, that much has never been a secret. 1.0 and 2.22 however carried enough over from the original series that it felt like the original characters were picking themselves up and getting better. I was happy seeing asuka, who had previously spent 26 episodes and a movie being miserable, open herself up to happiness. I was happy seeing rei connect more with shinji. even if the characters had to become simplified versions of themselves to find their own peace, it didnt feel thatbad. I didn’t realize until 3.0 came out how little this tetralogy had to it beyond puppeteering iconography and hoping that fans find meaning in it. 3.0 and 3.0+1.0 carried the same conviction of 1.0 and 2.22 of showing you characters you like doing things you wished they did, but with the support of the original series environment withering away to unveil half baked ideas, convoluted plots and meaningless regurgitation of every meaningful image this series has produced. seeing rei stripped even farther than her bare bones as reiQ put into focus what I thought I appreciated about 1.0 and 2.22.

there were a few times throughout this movie where I was trying to figure out what it was that anno was trying to say. as stated in my op paragraph, the film does carry it’s own simplified message about how important it is to grow up and face the real world, but this message largely betrays the framing. its cowardly. the pain that shinji experience does not come from the Other anymore, it is all self inflicted. learning to endure hardship simply became a matter of overcoming your own feelings, because now everyone else in your life effortlessly accepts you. there are 3 girls with who dont have any problems anymore and a solarpunk empire that would be all over you if you simply stood on your own two feet. there is no asuka experiencing hedgehog dilemma with shinji, there’s only asuka who exists so shinji can learn how to confess to a girl. there is no misato constantly subjecting shinji to a interplay of projecting her issues onto him and attempting to mother him (with varying degrees of success), there’s just shinjis step mom who accepts that she is responsible for him (which feels GREAT to see but feels bad when you think about what it sacrificed to get there). for a guy whose complicated relationship with otaku culture has bled into his work, you would think that idealistic fantasy of the real world wouldnt be the crutch of the delivering his message. when I say that “defeated” is the ethos of this film, I mean that it is so lacking in purpose compared to its predecessors that it wears itself thin trying to superficially have something for every conceivable audience while throwing out the meat of why people liked those things in the first point.

I was surprised to see that it was gendo who survived as the most introspective part of the film. i’m conflicted towards how I feel about a gendo redemption arc, but I feel as if his instrumentality sequence itself was decently shot (I hate having to compare it to ep 25/26 but it lacks the artistic flare for such a big budget film) and very well articulated. there’s a beautiful story in here about realizing your parents are people and parents realizing the responsibility they owe to their children, but I wish it could have been explored in a different film where characters are less held back by their established canon. honestly watching this whole sequence made me wonder if anno is still friendly with goro miyazaki LMAO

I was largely uninterested in the fight scenes, I think the only one that genuinely made me feel something was the one towards the end where asuka turns into an angel. the poor fight choreography coupled with weird shot composition and the overbearing usage of cg makes fight sequences overbearing and kind of difficult to decipher. cg fights are largely 1 eva vs a swarm of enemies that take up the screen, all of them having the same line weight which just ends up making all parties involved look like a mesh of colors. there arent real stakes for the most part either, asuka and mari tear through waves of enemies with effortless precision accuracy in a way that isnt visually or technically impressive.

believe it or not, I don’t actually dislike Mari. Mari enacts what Anno sought to do with the Rebuilds -- to destroy Evangelion. Mari (literally!) falls out of the sky into the story and is not gripped by the pain of the hedgehog’s dilemma as she exhibits her adoration for most things. her romance with shinji is intentionally analogous to how anno perceives his relationship with his wife -- that she saved him by encouraging him to live in the real world. the actual, textual ridiculousness in her character is softened when you realize that she’s just another component of his 4 movie long exhibition of telling everyone his life is better now that he’s successful and has a hot and talented wife.

is it worth complaining about all the crotch or ass shots. i think we all feel the same way about it. anyway i have more thoughts but these are my loose ones.

-the outfit danny had to buy for dash's party. CLASSIC 2000S i cannot stop laughing. And also showing up to the party and everyone is dressed like the trio is hilarious. and further proof that everyone looks good dressed goth.

-I thought vlad's 'little badger' nickname for danny came from the football mascot of the packers, but google says they have NO MASCOT?? so now I'm like?? is it because his hair is sometimes black and sometimes white?? I hate to give him props but thats a PERFECT NICKNAME. theyre also tiny and vicious!

-why did I get so excited that Skulker is back!! its been like. 2-3 eps LMAO. AND THE DAIRY KING. ICONIC I LOVE HIM. hes the nicest guy ever :) more nice ghosts please. danny cannot be fighting alone everytime with no ghost buds like every ghost being hostile sucks :(

-mr. fenton knew vlad was controlling him, but a few episodes ago he had no clue danny was doing the same thing...is it something about how malicious the ghost is?? he just seemed to think his memory had gaps the first time, this time he was INSTANTLY LIKE 'GHOST'. then again in this ep when danny did it again he was just slightly confused but not immediately freaking out like he did with vlad possessing him!!

-'my parents will accept ME NO MATTER WHAT' so. so why haven't you come out to them yet, danny?? if you really think that?? if theres no harm, and you're sure??? if vlad is a real problem, wouldnt that make dealing with him easier, to expose him???? SO WHY HAVENT YOU COME OUT YET?? COULD IT BE,, MAYBE YOU HAVE DOUBTS ABOUT WHETHER YOUR PARENTS ACTUALLY WILL ACCEPT YOU??? 🤔 ... 🏳‍🌈 I get why people say He Is Trans. I totally totally get u danny.

-sorta unrelated, but it just occurred to me in one of these eps they go to casper HIGH not casper middle school??? theyre 14?? dont highschools usually do ages 15-18? (I didnt go to hs so I might be wrong, if I am ignore this...) freshmen are usually 14-15, could just be a case of them not turning 15 yet but they will sometime in the school year (I say they because tucker said he was 14 too)? I know the show has 3 seasons, so by the end of it will they be older? thatd be neat but usually cartoon characters stay the same age...I love shows where you can see the characters age and grow up, though...three seasons seems like a long time to spend on like, 1 year...

Hi..If you don't mind me asking, what are your top 5 favorite moments from MDZS novel? And why? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....

Sorry for the wait! There are soso many great moments in this novel, it's hard to pick just five!!

The prologue. I can't think of a better opening for a book than killing off your main character through dialogue. We learn so much on the very first line alone: the fact that wei wuxian is dead isn't just news, it's GREAT news. Already we learn that he's famous and many people wanted him dead! Not to mention the prologue ties so well with the novel's themes, in my opinion. The fact that our introduction to our main character is through rumors and gossip, and that the author will then go on to spend the entire novel telling you the other side of the story! As if to let you know right off the bat be careful not to believe everything you hear!!

The pledge conference at nightless city and the second siege at the burial mounds. Cheating? Cheating! But I think it's worth looking at them side by side. We essentially get two "the Apology of Wei Wuxian"s, with him defending himself against accusations and slander. The first time, he's rightfully enraged that him and his family were scapegoated. He's calling out hypocrisy. The second time, he's tired. He's resigned himself to the fact that there's no changing the mind of a crowd that's already decided youre irredeemable trash. So he defends himself, apologizes for his wrongdoings, and argues against false accusations, but the doesn't really "fight back" this time around. He isn't trying to convince anyone, just clear his name.

The confession! Everything everything everything about this is amazing. The drunk dry (wet?) humping that happens right before, wwx's regret, jgy stopping everything at the temple to be like wait why arent you with lwj, lxc getting mad at wwx for playing with his brother's feelings!!, jgy threatening wwx to trap lwj!!!!, AND WWX CONFESSING HE WANTED TO SLEEP WITH LWJ AND THE CONFESSION AND- man, okay. I dont really read slow burn, so by this point i was beyond burnt and reduced to ashes and this scene alone phoenix'd me back to life.

Yi City! MXTX really went a gave us a full tragedy in the middle of an epic romance + political novel huh. Like "oh jsyk! I'm Actually this good." like damn. you are!! Im counting it as a "moment" despite the fact that it takes up several chapters because most of it happens in Empathy, but the moments that don't are so good also!! The echoes of the past in Yi City of the present, chilling! The juniors being good lil ducklings learning from WWX, WWX in this arc was SO hot. I can't pour all my yi city thoughts here because this would get long so i leave you with another parallel of the bigger story in that the first information we get about it is through word of mouth, from people who weren't there, and only later start getting the pieces to the other side of the story.

The ending! God, okay. "From then on he was never able to look away" are you KIDDING me, you didn't have to kill me this hard but you slaughtered me, mxtx. What an ending! What a perfect way to succintly express how much LWJ loves his husband and that they'll be together for the rest of their lives! It's so earned, and so good. Bonus: The "original" ending (the one mxtx ended up scraping) "on and on the WangXian melody drifts; the song ceases yet the figures persist" there's no faster way to bring tears to my eyes. And while I adore the ending MXTX ended up choosing, this one hits different. One says "happy ending!" the other one is like "their story is not over", and I love them both to death.
