If you ever find yourself questioning your own intelligence, just remember that Jujutsu Kaisen gave us a character who is the undisputed strongest living being in his universe (so much so that his birth altered the balance of the entire world around him) and is canonically able to do anything he tries; who could have decided to spend his entire life doing absolutely whatever tf he wanted because there is literally no one and nothing with the power to stop him, but instead chose to use his strength to protect and train the next generation to be strong and intelligent enough to overhaul the current oppressive system that would have stripped those innocent kids of their lives and precious youth in the same way it did his own generation, and this was a good portion of the fandom’s reaction to said character:

mostly based on one (1) line removed from 5 layers of context. When the majority of the story wouldn't have taken place at all if not for his strong sense of morality. I am so Tired.

Basically the premise is Jason has some weird fucked up version of Cotards Syndrome and also is massively dissociating cuz holy shit the amount of the trauma that boy has.

But after coming out of the pit, he realizes present him and past him are almost two entirely different people. They react to things differently, he’s far easier to anger (a symptom of PTSD), he can’t really remember parts of his old life, and when he does, it doesn’t have the same emotional connection he remembers it used to. Also, people don’t come back to life. Ever (Superman excluded).

All of which leads him to the conclusion of “I’m a clone of the deceased Jason Todd”

Because, apparently being a clone of a dead boy is easier than admitting to severe untreated PTSD…

The fact that Leo can go literally anywhere on earth to be alone with his thoughts at a single moment’s notice is something that shakes around in my head all the time. Like, portals and teleportation are amazing and convenient abilities both in and out of battle, but they could also so easily be used to run away as well.

I don’t think Leo ever would, at least not most of the time. He loves his family too much, and is too dependent on their love and attention to cut himself off so suddenly like that, but it’s a very real possibility nonetheless.

It’s a good thing Leo’s overall temper is more on the mild side and he prefers going to his room or something to complete solitude, because it really is dangerous for a kid to have the ability to isolate themselves like that at their fingertips.
