I love Doctor Who universe lore. Apparently it’s canon in the whoniverse that before the Big Bang happened there existed another universe where astrology was real, and an entity left over from this old universe has been lying in wait in our universe for the past 30 billion years waiting for the exact astrological conditions for their power to be reborn. And this whole “previous universe” thing isn’t even a big plot point! It’s literally just thrown in as the backstory to one SJA serial!

obviously mad respect to clyde for mouthing off to nazis for half this episode but also he is like objectively The Worst at time travel out of all of them like he literally calls the first kid he meets “40s boy” this is not what keeping a low profile looks like king

i’m sorry but the fact that in the future of SJA Clyde becomes this internationally successful comic artist is SO funny when you think about how often he’s shown incorporating the real aliens/technology they encounter into his comics. Like what if many years later the wider world learns about all the aliens the Bannerman Road Gang encounter being real and they make contact with the shansheeth or whomst the fuck ever and everyone’s just like “dang those things are REAL? thot they were invented by Famous Comic Artist Clyde Langer” and Clyde has to go on the news making a public statement like yes I have in fact been having regular encounters with aliens since I was like 14

I love the plot detail of Luke’s fake family having a completely wrong idea of the kind of person he is because it raises two options: 1) Mr Smith constructed a personality for “Ashley” that was as different to Luke as possible for literally no reason other than fucking with everyone. 2) Before putting this plan into action the Slitheen were sitting around for a couple of days just googling “what are teenage human males interested in” and trying to come up with a convincing backstory for themselves, and both options are equally incredible

broke: TV shows where the inseparable gang of friends go their separate ways after the adventures end
woke: SJA showing that Luke, Maria, Rani, and (presumably) Clyde all continue to meet up 50 years in the future when they’re old and have grandkids ^_^

It’s so funny that death of the doctor is one of the only sja episodes that rtd wrote himself. lad was just like “this is the one opportunity i have to write the eleventh doctor and by god i am going to take it”

god being an ordinary person in the whoniverse must be absolutely exhausting. Every other day it’s just oh look someone turned off the sun. oh hey there’s a meteor about to crash into the earth and kill us all. oh now the MOON is about to crash into the earth. we finally made official first contact and it’s with a bunch of alien spheres that just murdered the president. frankly i’m shocked that by the time we got to the stolen earth/journey’s end people had the AUDACITY to be shocked by the planets in the sky instead of just looking at that and going “oh, it’s tuesday already? cool”

also hmmmm thinking about the fact that Clyde’s greatest fear was that he’d never achieve anything in life because he’s not good in school like his friends are...and then in the “Farewell, Sarah Jane” special he’s living his best life as a successful comic artist...makes me feel :’) :’) :’)

out of the “scary” SJA episodes, the nightmare man is definitely the one so far that has held up the best imo. Like, as an adult the nightmare man himself isn’t really that scary at all - he’s just kind of a generic over the top villain - but the actual nightmares themselves are really well-done! like damn how the hell are these scenes somehow more viscerally horrifying watching them now than when I was like 9?

I know a lot of people have made this joke but Bradley Walsh as an “evil clown from outer space” is truly kinda hilarious in hindsight now that his other main role in the whoniverse is “kindly comic relief grandpa”. Gotta say, he has the range darling...
