“let’s go somewhere, just me and you”
“pinky promise?”
for my favorite braided snipper bae coco 😘😘😘
Coco stumbles throughout the house, his glassy eyes searching as he moves between bodies. A burst of distant laughter sounds from the kitchen, catching his attention. Even in his inebriated state, he knows it’s coming from her, and follows the sound.
Her back is turned, head thrown back as her last bits of laughter escape from her lips. Coco stalks towards her, ignoring everything else around him. His hand immediately snakes around her waist, his thumb slipping into her waistband as he pulls her flush against his back.
“Been lookin’ for you,” he says, lips at her ear.
Natalie jumps, startled at his sudden appearance by her side before sighing, her shoulders falling.
“Excuse you, I was talking,” she admonishes.
Coco pulls back, face screwing up at her tone. He looks ahead, finally noticing who she’s with.
“‘Sup, Coco?” Junior speaks up, offering his hand up to Coco for a dap.
Coco notices but ignores the gesture, his grip tightening on Natalie as he sizes him up. “‘Sup,” he responds, merely thrusting his chin up at him in acknowledgment.
Natalie mentally rolls her eyes, her lips pursed. She looks back at Junior, giving him a quick shake of her head and half raising a shoulder as if to say sorry. Thankfully, he awkwardly takes that as his cue to leave.
“Let’s go somewhere, just’ me and you,” Coco tells her once he’s gone.
“Like where?” Natalie asks, turning to look back at him.
“Dunno,” Coco shrugs. “Somewhere we can be alone. It’s too fuckin’ crowded in here,” he says, eyes scanning the room. He doesn’t even know who’s house party he’s at. Fuck, it could be Junior’s for all he fuckin’ knows.
“Can you even drive?” Natalie questions as she turns around in his arms. She surveys him head to toe with a raised eyebrow. “Nah,” she starts with a slow shake of her head. “I’m not tryna die tonight.”
Coco sucks his teeth, rolling his eyes at her statement. “I ain’t even drink that much.”
“Is that gon’ be your excuse when your drunk ass wraps Celia’s car around a tree?”
Coco purses his lips at the statement but tugs her closer to him. “How ‘bout you drive, then?”
Natalie hums, thinking it over before agreeing. She returns the smile Coco gives her before he drags them out of the crowded house. Her girls and his boys yell after their departure in protest but they pay them no mind.
Coco throws the keys over to Natalie as she reaches the driver side. When the engine starts roaring to life, she looks over at her drunk boyfriend. “Put the seatbelt on,” she demands, giving Coco a pointed look when he hesitates. “I would ask if you asked Celia to borrow her ride but I know you better than that. Don’t give the cops another reason to fuck with us, especially when I’m the one driving..”
The seatbelt was buckled around Coco before Natalie could even finish her sentence. Once she did, he looks at her with raised brows, flashing his hands out as if to show off. She rolls her eyes at his theatrics and pulls her own seatbelt on before starting the car.
Coco fiddles around with the radio as she drives, the windows rolled down to let the late-night atmosphere mingle with the sounds of Chicano rap. Natalie steers around aimlessly at first before heading to a spot overlooking the city, quiet in the hills. The ride is relatively silent but comfortable as they let the music fill the air. Coco looks over at her, a smile on his lips and dimple on his cheek, when she starts to softly sing along with the radio.
I wanna get lost in love with you, and do all the things you want me to. Caress your body, touch your soul, ‘cause boy I love you so.
For a fleeting moment, Natalie wonders if he’s gonna poke fun at her. But he just leans his head back against the headrest, eyes never leaving her as she continues to sing the lyrics perfectly. She tries not to think too much about it. He’s just drunk.
She reaches her destination when the song starts coming to a close.
Together forever ’til our ending days, she sings while briefly looking at him from the corner of her eye. Hold me, baby, don’t let go. Makin’ love like never before.
The DJ rolls right into a new song, but Lil Rob’s smooth voice abruptly stops when she turns off the engine. Wordlessly, she removes her seatbelt and exits the car, sitting on its hood. Coco finds a spot next to her, putting an arm around her shoulder before gently pulling to lay them down. With his arm as her pillow against the windshield, she looks up at the stars. Coco does the same, the chill in the air sobering him up.
No words pass between them as they drink in the night sky. Coco doesn’t know shit about astrology—astronomy? whatever the fuck it is—but he can appreciate the view.
“Beautiful fuckin’ night,” he whispers, finally breaking the silence.
“Yeah,” Natalie agrees softly.
He feels her gaze on him. Turning his head, he wastes no time capturing her lips with his. Natalie melts into the kiss, pressing against him and cupping the back of his neck to keep him close. Coco’s hand is on her waist, slipping under her shirt to feel her skin.
They pull apart with a gasp. Coco swallows hard, leaning his forehead against hers.
“Gonna love me forever, Nati?”
She breathes a short laugh. “Maybe,” she answers. “If you play your cards right.”
He smiles, kissing her again before pulling back. Their hands laced together, settling back down to gaze at the stars. Coco hums softly, content.
“We’re gonna get outta here, Nati,” he tells her suddenly. “You and me. One day. One way or a fuckin’ ‘nother.”
“Where would we go?”
“Anywhere,” he answers, no hesitation. “We can go anywhere you want.”
“Pinky promise?” She brings her free hand up, pinky raised as the question hung in the air.
Coco looks curiously at the gesture. She hasn’t made him pinky promise something since they were like ten. Amused, he raises his own free hand to hers, pinky looping over pinky.
“Yeah. I promise.”
