Every review I’ve read said pretty much the same thing which was ‘this album didn’t have a single before the release of the record because there isn’t a song that could be one’ and you know maybe they are right. This album doesn’t have that one poppy song that screams radio hit and it’s pretty obvious that Halsey wasn’t aiming for that. I believe this is a very very cohesive album with a great concept in mind, I didn’t even had to know a thing from Halsey themselves because the lyrics speak for them. By the time you finish your first listen of the record you know what the theme is. You know what she was trying to say. I think the most important thing about a full album is trying to make the audience understand what your intentions were and Halsey succeeded. There isn’t a single song that feels like it doesn’t fit in. Not a single song I would skip. Truly a great body of work!

IICLIWP IMAX THOUGHTS
*warning: spoilers below*
okay IICHLIWP in IMAX was really great!!
if you’re expecting a standard, plot-centric movie, that’s not what this is. although the film definitely has a story to it, it isn’t always told linearly. also, the film usually relies on visuals to communicate its story more so than spoken dialogue. but I promise you, there *is* a story and I personally found the film to be a fun watch.
the visuals were absolutely stunning! besides the music, this was probably the highlight of the movie. H wore so many beautiful costumes and also had some really impressive makeup looks.
but of course the most important thing was the music! I loved H’s previous punksey songs, and this was very much in that same vein, so I really enjoyed this film’s music. honestly, I’m even more excited for the album than I was before. I can’t wait to hear the songs in full. I honestly think this has the potential to be H’s best album.
not every song was played during the film (H confirmed this in a tweet). I’m almost 100% sure, however, that the following songs were in the movie: Girl is a Gun; I am not a Woman, I’m a God; The Lighthouse; Ya’aburnee. The other songs were a bit harder to identify, so I’m not exactly sure which ones those were, although I think the film might have opened with The Tradition Bells in Santa Fe.
if you have any questions about the film or about my experience please just send me an ask!! I’d be happy to answer

“I am not a woman, I’m a god” is SO good, everything I could’ve hoped for. couldn’t be happier I snagged this URL now <3
“The Lighthouse” is really really good, I love the lyrics, and that grimy guitar, and her vocals are incredible. That slow kind of discordant rhythm. It feels the most like a story of all the tracks, I think. Reminds me a little bit of a grownup “Hurricane.” Definitely the most NIN sounding song of all.
“Ya’aburnee” is so beautiful and so meaningful, wow. And I think it’s the best their voice has ever sounded.
