Hey! So I haven't kept up with a lot of otome games and stuff, including some of the non-hakuouki stuff you are into, but I was curious about it? I wanted to know about whatever the Ikesen (ikemen??) series is, or what it is I suppose lmao? I assume mobile games, which is cool, I kind of want to look into some of those, but I curious about what were your favorites or your thoughts on them, etc.

Hi Miss P!

Just for context, I want to mention that I was a “non-mobile otome only” player until about 2.5 years ago. I was wary of mobile otome games for a few reasons, including *my* perceptions about (lack of) depth of story and characters, cost, and dependence on a server (i.e., you don’t get to buy and “own” a game). I took a harder look for two reasons: (1) seeing the artwork from more recent games; (2) discovering some favourite voice actors in the mobile otome world. Also, I just wanted to find more localized Japanese otome.

What have I played?

I have actively played all the (localized) games by Cybird:

Destined to Love (historical AU, Shinsengumi / bakumatsu era; thrown back in time; fated lover concept)

Midnight Cinderella (classic “you’re suddenly chosen to be the Princess” concept; setting is sort of mid-1800s, European-type country)

Ikemen Sengoku (historical AU, mid/late Sengoku era; taken in by Sengoku faction, become close to key leaders; thrown back in time)

Ikemen Revolution (fantasy, overarching framework based loosely on Alice in Wonderland; setting is Victorian-with-magic, not weird-drug-trip)

Ikemen Vampire (late 19th Paris, but focus is personal, not much political/historical; famous men now vampires; thrown back in time)

I have also played MLQC (from “Mr Love Queen’s Choice” - the worst localized title I have ever come across - I mean, it sounds ridiculous. The Japanese title is “Love and Producer” [ 恋とプロデューサー ] which is more accurate and less dorky sounding. This game is Chinese (not Japanese) but so popular that it has been translated into Japanese, Korean, and English. **Note that there is some debate as to whether this is an “otome” game.**

I haven’t played: Voltage otome games; Mystic Messenger; or any other mobile otome games.

How do they work?

Almost every game has these features:

you choose the love interest right after the prologue [completely different story for each guy, no common route]

total story length is approx. 26 chapters of 5 sub-chapters [or 13 chapters with 10 sub-chapters]

you are given 5 free tickets a day; one ticket = one sub-chapter

you can buy more tickets with real money by buying “gems” (or whatever the premium in-game currency is called)

you have a stamina bar that refills over time that lets you compete in simple, totally automated challenges versus other players for experience points (usually a straight comparison of your “beauty” score, where beauty is all about how nice your clothes are and what you own (cue eye roll))

you can buy more stamina with real money, but don’t have to if you’re patient (you recover 1 point per 3 minutes, or 20 points per hour)

you need a certain level of experience points in order to pass “intimacy” challenges throughout the story

you also need certain items or outfits to pass “attire” challenges - you can buy these things with in-game regular currency (you get a bit each day) or in-game premium currency

once you’ve read a chapter you cannot go back without re-reading from the start and using new chapter tickets [there is no save function]

there are dialogue choices that raise your affection points with the love interest (getting the maximum affection score by the end of the game usually gives you a nice bonus gift; a minimum score is required to complete the story)

EVENTS are completely separate from the main routes - you compete against other players for the highest event points in order to get coveted items (outfits, chibis, teddy bears, etc.) - you DO NOT HAVE TO play in events in order to enjoy or progress in the main routes

Favourite:

Ikemen Sengoku is hands down my favourite. I would recommend this to most Hakuouki players in search of some interesting historical otome.

not historically accurate (apart the obvious, the warlords presented did not all work or live together in 1582 as presented; the main AU premise is that certain key warlords didn’t die, and relative ages and relevant details have been adjusted to fit the overarching plot(s)), but captures a lot of historically accurate details

best protagonist (modern sensibilities, has a chosen profession she relies on, sense of humour, generally competent, spunky but not perfect

the modern-era physics grad student and history-buff-turned-ninja Sarutobi Sasuke is a wonderful person, character, and “narrator”

excellent sense of humour (game) - big selling point for me tbh, and the localization team has generally done a great job (translating humour is *hard*, and while the adaptation sometimes strays too far from the Japanese original, it’s generally very good)

all main routes are different (overall, the main story quality is very good and has plot to go along with the character/romance development)

character background and development is very good

variety of love interests, with non-love-interest characters still playing important and interesting roles [sadly, few-to-no developed female secondary characters; lots of bro/mances of different kinds]

main routes all have two different endings (moving toward three); the different endings span several chapters (not just an epilogue) and are reasonably distinct in most routes (but both are clearly happy endings)

dressing up your character turns out to be a lot of fun (apparently I have NOT gotten over playing with dolls, bears, or chibis, go figure)

special “events” feature all kinds of new stories, some more creative than others (imagine Hakuouki with frequent, official new content!)

Note: romance/sexiness level varies per route and character (Cybird provides some guidance on this in their route notes for most of their games); you generally have to pay to read more explicit stuff, but even then the level of implied/explicit varies - IkeSen is generally mid-range for Cybird for romantic/mature content in my opinion

Voice Acting: only a few voiced lines, but more are in the works - there is a PS Vita version of the full game with full voice acting; my attention was drawn by Toriumi Kosuke (Saito from Hakuouki) voicing Toyotomi Hideyoshi (but the voice is deliberately lighter than Saito’s sadly for me); there are a LOT of pro seiyuu in the more recent Cybird games (Hakuouki’s Kazama as Leonardo da Vinci in Ikemen Vampire is a treat for the ears, honestly)

Reviews for other Cybird:

I enjoy Midnight Cinderella for the sheer Princessy-ness of it all, and playing with dolls *ahem*. The main stories have both “personal development” and “political intrigue” style plots; however, this game is biased toward romance. There are a range of love interests, which is great - everyone can have their favourite(s). The top characters are “poster boy” (Knight Captain) Alyn Crawford (the guy you’d find on the box cover if there were one), (King) Byron Wagner, and (Duke) Louis Howard. Call them Classic Tsundere, Classic Kuudere, and Classic Appears-to-be-tsun-but-is-really-a-total-cinammon-roll Deredere.

I enjoy the characters and world design of Ikemen Revolution; would definitely recommend it, but feel more could have been more done with the setting and characters. Alice is my second-favourite Cybird protagonist. The character interactions are very good and well-developed.

Ikemen Vampire is very popular, and has a lot going for it, but isn’t my personal cup of tea. That said, I’m still playing, and I do enjoy various aspects of it - the characters and character interactions, for instance. If you’re looking for a more modern, sexy, gothic kind of feel to your otome, this could be a good choice.

I wouldn’t spend money on the Shinsengumi game, Destined to Love, for two reasons: (1) Cybird appears to have dropped the localized version completely (you can play all the main stories for free, one chapter per day, and you can buy old event stories, but there are no events or updates; (2) most of the stories have an unfinished feel to them, at least for me.

That said, DTL isn’t bad if you’re in the mood to read some different stories about Hijikata and the guys (plus there are more love interests from the anti-bakufu side). Hijikata and Saito have a similar feel to them, Okita and Yamazaki have definite similarities as well; I enjoyed Sakamoto more in DTL than in Hakuouki,and Katsura is nice. Takasugi has a route if you’re okay with a rougher version of Hakuouki’s Okita - just be prepared for sarcasm and a very aggressive edginess.

Non-Cybird:

MLQC is a lot of fun as a deck-building game and has the most innovative story - character development aside, it’s a mix of modern China (the main plot is set in a fictional Chinese city) and increasingly sci-fi elements as you slowly learn more about what makes the protagonist and the four love interests different. There is a fair bit of grinding if you want to read more chapters and upgrade your cards, which are needed to pass challenge points in the story.

This game does not follow the usual “common route then pick a route” progression of most otome games. Also, you don’t have choices that affect the main route progression (there are choices that affect each love interest’s affection level, though). You fully control which cards you develop (since some resources are scarce unless you throw money at the game), and you’ll probably develop one or two guys’ cards over the others. Since each card provides you with a four-part story “date” (mostly implied romance, some more, some less), it’s up to you how you progress.

The art is gorgeous, the story is great, the translation is… not so good but better than many Chinese games… the English voice acting is quite good. You can also download the Japanese voice acting in a number of places.

This is not the kind of otome/game you play to get an Otomate (Hakuouki, Code Realize, Collar x Malice) kind of experience. But there are a lot of good qualities. One of which is that it’s the easiest of the games to play for free. Also, they have a “post whatever you want” policy. Which tells you just how popular the game is, since people throw money at it anyway!

Chapter 16 Romantic

On the night of the Paris World's Fair bombing, I returned to the mansion for the first time in a while.

After some deliberation, I took Halil back with me and showed him to my room.

Mitsuki: "I'm sure you're still in pain, so you should stay here and rest, Halil."

Halil: "Okay. Thanks, big sister."

I left the room and went to the living room.

Isaac & Jean: "Mitsuki!"

There, all the residents of the mansion are gathered around, perhaps being informed of my return.

Mitsuki: "I'm so sorry for worrying you all!"

A large hand patted my deeply bowed head.

Napoleon: "Whatever the case, I'm glad you're safe, Mitsuki."

Jean: "I'm sorry for not noticing you were gone."

Isaac: "Are you hurt anywhere? You're so reckless once you're on your own."

Napoleon, Jean, and Isaac were with me back then, so they must have been worried.

Mitsuki: "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm really sorry. Thank you for worrying about me."

Dazai: "I'm relieved that you're safe, Toshiko-san. By the way..."

Dazai suddenly shifted his gaze.

Dazai: "Who are those three unfamiliar faces over there? Are those who I think they are?"

Leonardo: "That’s right."

Vlad: "This is the first time we've met in person like this."

Vlad: "I'm Vlad. Glad to meet all of Comte's family."

Arthur: "So those two fellows over there are Johann Georg Faust and..."

Mozart: "Charles-Henri Sanson."

Faust: "I never thought we would meet head-on like this."

Charles: "................."

There is a tense atmosphere as everyone is gathered in the same room.

Jean: "So you're the one behind Gilles's manipulation and even Mitsuki's abduction."

Vlad: "That's right. Oh, Will. You're here too, long time no see."

Shakespeare: "Lord Vlad, what brings you to the mansion?"

Napoleon: "You didn't just come to drop Mitsuki off, did you?"

Comte: "Let me explain that to you."

Comte first tells everyone that I was at the World's Fair with Vlad and that I got caught up in the bombing.

Theo: "What are you doing at the World's Fair with these guys again, Hondje?"

Mitsuki: "That's..."

Charles: "I invited her to go. I wanted Mitsuki to smile."

Vincent: "For Mitsuki?"

Theo and Vincent both look surprised, but Comte continues his story.

Comte: "We took a boy into custody at the scene of the bombing. His name is Halil, and we brought him home."

Comte: "He was on display at the World's Fair as an exhibit."

Halil: "Please, find my sister!"

Halil pleaded with tears in his eyes.

Halil and his wandering clan were forced to participate in the Paris World's Fair after repeated negotiations with the showman.

However, when they were brought to Paris, his sister, who had come with them, went missing.

Halil: "When my sister disappeared, I saw the man who brought us here getting paid by someone."

Halil: "So I thought maybe she was sold somewhere."

(That's, don't tell me...)

Faust: "Human trafficking?"

Leonardo: "That means the showman is connected to the traffickers."

When Halil and his group questioned the showman, he told them that he had left the matter in the hands of the police, and they had no permission to go looking for his sister, so he was forced to work as an exhibit.

Halil: "If anything happens to my sister―to Ulfa, I..."

Mozart: "I'm starting to get the story. You want to save the boy and his sister?"

Mitsuki: "Yes. I don't know if the police will act, but I can't just turn a blind eye to this."

(Besides, it might be some kind of coincidence that we are all meeting like this.)

Mozart: "You seem very determined."

Dazai: "It's a very straightforward idea, just like you."

As I felt relieved that everyone was listening, Arthur, with a serious expression on his face, frowned slightly.

Arthur: "I understand how you feel, Mitsuki."

Arthur: "But why do those vampires even want to meddle in this case?"

(I was wondering about that too. Why did Vlad even show up in front of everyone and come with us?)

(He seems like he cares about Halil, though.)

Vlad opens his lips as everyone's eyes are focused on him.

Vlad: "Halil and his sister―they are a little different from other humans."

Vlad: "They are probably a Dhampir, one with vampire blood. A descendant of it."

(Dhampir?)

The fact that Halil has vampire blood and the unfamiliar word is confusing.

Comte: "A Dhampir is a hybrid between a pureblood vampire and a human."

According to what Comte tells us, pureblooded vampires differ in the way they relate to humans depending on their clan.

Some clans consider humans only as their prey and do not interact with them at all. Others hide their true identities and blend in with human society, but some reveal their true identities to humans and seek coexistence with them.

Comte: "Some of the purebloods made love to humans. Some tried to be together, while others parted, but..."

Comte: "Halil's ancestors probably bonded with a pureblood and miraculously produced a mixed-breed child, Dhampir."

Because of the difference in race between humans and vampires, it's difficult for both to have children, and in most cases, Dhampirs are rarely born safely or grow up to adulthood.

Vlad: "In a way, you could say that Dhampir is the end result of vampires and humans trying to coexist."

(Coexistence...?)

Leonardo: "Ancestral Dhampirs grew up and had offspring with humans..."

Leonardo: "I guess the end result of that cycle is Halil and his sister."

Comte: "I don't think he's aware that he has vampire blood in him..."

Comte: "Halil has a very little vampire in him. He wouldn't even need to drink blood."

Vlad: "However, the stories of his ancestors were passed down in the family as folklore."

Vlad: "The showman took note of their different ethnicity and strange folklore..."

Vlad: "I guess he brought Halil and his family along to make a show of it."

Neither the showman nor Halil and the others believe the lore to be true.

Vlad: "But what if they really have vampire blood in their veins?"

(Ah!)

Vlad's words brought to mind a scene I saw at the World's Fair.

Showman: "This boy here, Halil, is a descendant of the head of a certain family."

Showman: "And it is said that his ancestors once mingled with a fearsome vampire and produced an offspring!"

Onlooker 2: "You have the blood of a monster in your veins? Might as well see if you have any interesting fangs."

The sound of the onlookers' mocking voices is not something nice to recall.

Isaac: "Wait, not many people believe in vampires that easily, do they?"

Faust: "But even if there's no basis for it, if it continues to be talked about, as it was at the World's Fair..."

Faust: "The family could be looked upon as an abomination."

Charles: "You mean they will be hated and persecuted...?"

Sebastian: "I have heard that even now, people are being made suspects in bombings simply because they are of a different race."

(Place of birth, environment, race. Minor differences like that can lead to discrimination and suspicion.)

If such negative feelings develop among people, the family may be ostracized in the worst-case scenario.

Vincent: "Vlad, are you saying that you also want to help them?"

Theo: "Are you worried that the vampire's existence might be carelessly exposed to the world?"

Vlad: "Whatever the reason, yes."

(Then everyone and Vlad feel the same way.)

(If we all work together, we can even help Halil.)

If we could join hands as Comte and Vlad did in the past, we would be able to reach out to each other.

Such faint hopes are held in my heart.

Dazai: "Let me ask you something."

Dazai: "If you saved their clan, what will you do with those who preyed on them afterward?"

(----!)

Vlad: "................"

My heart made a sickening sound at Dazai's question.

(Vlad has the ambition to manage thoughts so that humans don't commit stupid sins.)

(He says he's willing to make sacrifices in the process.)

If he follows that belief, Vlad...

Vlad: "I don't need flowers that do evil. I don't need those who have become irredeemably ugly and evil in this world."

Vlad: "I will reap the bud of sin, even if it stains my hands with blood."

Comte: "Vlad!"

Vlad's relentlessness instantly caused everyone's air to tense up.

Mitsuki: "Wait, Vlad! If you keep making sacrifices like that, you will..."

(You'll crush your own heart, more and more.)

Vlad: "I just don't want people to make mistakes."

Vlad: "They hate and kill each other. No one should ever have to experience that kind of sorrow again."

For a moment, Vlad's eyes turn sad and shadowy, but they are quickly drowned out by his strong will.

Napoleon: "Is that your justice, Vlad?"

Vlad: "Yeah."

Napoleon's words poke at a gap that cannot be filled.

Vlad gave only a short reply, stood up, and turned his back on us.

Jean: "Wait. Where are you going!?"

Vlad: "I'm not going to excuse myself for what I put you guys through. You can come after me and put your sword through this chest."

Vlad: "I'm not going to die, though."

His crimson eyes looked back at me, and our gazes locked.

Mitsuki: "Vlad..."

Vlad: "Mitsuki, I'm sorry I couldn't give you what you wanted."

Vlad: "For the future of this world, I will make my choice, even if no one understands it."

Vlad: "Bye-bye, Comte, Mitsuki."

The smile he gave me as he said goodbye was so beautiful it made me speechless.

Faust & Charles: "............"

Faust and Charles also left the room after Vlad, and I just stood there.

(Why it's not possible?)

(Why can't we just go hand in hand...?)

Everyone watched in silence as their footsteps faded into the distance.

Vlad, noticing the presence following him, asks them both without slowing down his steps.

Vlad: "Both of you, do you not want to go to Comte and the others?"

Charles: "Nah, the only lord for me is you, Lord Vlad. Right, Docteur?"

Faust: "I simply prefer the more interesting guinea pig."

Faust: "If I'm going to go after a pureblood, I prefer to dissect an old geezer so creepy it makes me want to peek inside his head."

Charles: "You really are a twisted person."

Vlad smiles unconsciously at the unchanged attitude of both of them.

Charles: "Hey, Lord Vlad, do you want to help that family because you're like them?"

Vlad: ".............."

Vlad: "Pity and compassion may sound kind, but in the end, it's all about my staggering ego."

Faust: "Ego?"

Vlad: "Helping only those you can reach is a stopgap measure. This cruel world will not change."

Vlad: "I know that, but..."

Vlad: "A descendant of Dhampir, born of the coexistence of humans and vampires."

Vlad: "I just couldn't abandon that existence."

Faust & Charles: "............"

Faust: "Everyone's heart is so egoistic."

The conversation melted into the quiet night, and the three disappeared into the woods without looking back at the mansion.

Comte: "Vlad was once treated badly as a child by someone he trusted."

Comte: "Maybe he compared his own circumstances to that family."

Leonardo: "Whatever the past may have been, it's no reason to forgive inhumanity. We have no right to condemn his righteousness."

Napoleon: "But we can't just leave Vlad alone now that he's involved in all this."

(Vlad's heartfelt wish is for a kind world where vampires and humans live together.)

(Why are we so different from each other?)

We understand each other's feelings, but our hearts don't click like we are out of each other's reach.

I feel like I'm lost in a maze with no way out.

As I was thinking about this, I noticed a small shadow peeking into the room.

Mitsuki: "Halil?"

Halil: "I'm causing trouble for everyone. I'm sorry."

Mitsuki: "No, it's not your fault."

I crouch down in front of Halil, who apologetically slumps his shoulders.

He looked at me with big eyes. Suddenly, Vlad's words came back to me.

Vlad: "In a way, you could say that Dhampir is the end result of vampires and humans trying to coexist."

(Existence for coexistence.)

He has a faint hint of vampire blood in him, inherited from his ancestors.

In the distant past, his ancestors, both human and vampire, were united.

Even if they are of different races, live different lengths of time, or think differently, they surely seek to know the other person.

Connecting heart to heart.

(Everyone can be connected. Halil's existence proves it.)

Halil: "Big sister?"

I gently hold Halil's hand.

His slightly warm body temperature, distinctive of a child, overlapped with my own, and I felt encouraged by it.

(Let's believe again that we can hold each other's hands...)

(I'll connect us all...)

(So I'm not going to waver anymore.)

I stand up, still holding hands with Halil, and turn to everyone.

I look over at each person's face and speak my mind.

Mitsuki: "Everyone, I want to help Halil and his clan. And I also want to stop Vlad."

Comte: "Mitsuki..."

Mitsuki: "I know it's out of line to ask you to do this after the attack led by Vlad."

Mitsuki: "But I don't want his hands to be stained with more blood."

(Humans commit sins and mistakes. But if he still says he likes humans...)

(No matter how distorted that love may be, I want to be sincere with him as a human being.)

Napoleon: "Mitsuki, I don't know if your desperation will stop that guy. Do you still want to?"

Mitsuki: "Still. I don't want to give up before I've done anything yet."

Mitsuki: "I know this is all a selfish request. But please lend me your help!"

This is ego, arrogance, and pretense. But still, I bowed my head, knowing everything.

The silence continues for what feels like an eternity.

Comte: "This might be my last chance to find out what's in that guy's heart."

Mitsuki: "Comte..."

Shakespeare: "Lord Vlad himself has made a move. He will not abandon the family like this."

Dazai: "Then I guess there will be another chance for contact, huh?"

Mozart: "You're really reckless."

Jean: "It's not the first time."

The twelve of them smile and nod.

(Everyone...)

I felt our hearts unite, and my chest burns passionately.

I said "thank you" in a hushed voice and squeezed Halil's hand.

Ikevamp Act 2.5

Chapter 8 Premium

With Sebastian's help, I spend the morning pacing back and forth between the kitchen and the dining room.

Then...

Leonardo: "Hey, is there some sort of party going on today?"

Comte: "It's still early for dinner... Perhaps lunch?"

Sebastian: "No. It's a more lighthearted, casual meal!"

Mitsuki: "It's a snack party!!"

Freshly baked crepes topped with fruit are placed on plates as we carry them from the kitchen to the dining room.

The table is also packed with sweets and snacks, including sandwiches, chocolate fudge, macaroons, Sebastian's special fried chicken, and much more.

Mozart: "No wonder it's noisy this morning. These sure are a lot, though. Did you make all this, Mitsuki and Sebas?"

Vincent: "Wow. One, two, three... ten layers of pancakes!"

Napoleon: "Hmm, the crepes look delicious. This takes me back to my childhood."

Napoleon and the others come over and look around.

Arthur: "Is this your idea, Mitsuki?"

Mitsuki: "Yup. With everything that's been going on lately, you guys have been a little down."

Mitsuki: "That's why I decided to do something fun so as not to let anxiety beat you guys down."

Mitsuki: "I thought it would be a good distraction if we all ate delicious foods."

Napoleon: "I see, that's just like you. It's peaceful, but not too bad."

Mitsuki: "Hehe, I'm glad. But it's thanks to all of you that I came up with this idea."

Comte: "What do you mean?"

I tell them, remembering that day.

Mitsuki: "Back when I was feeling anxious about not being able to return to my world, you guys cheered me up by throwing a welcome party. I was really happy that time."

Mitsuki: "So now it's my turn!"

Leonardo & Comte: "..............."

(I want to cheer everyone up as much as possible, just as everyone did for me.)

(I'll do whatever I can, because...)

Mitsuki: "I'm a part of this lively mansion too!"

When I puffed out my chest, they all smiled at me.

A knock on the door reaches Isaac's ears as he sits pondering in his room, unable to make progress with his research.

When he opens the door...

Napoleon: "Isaac, we're having a snack party now."

Isaac: "Huh? Eh, Napoleon? Snack party?"

Isaac, confused by the situation, is presented with a sandwich on a plate.

Napoleon: "Mitsuki made everyone's favorite food. Isaac, you should come too."

Isaac: "Mitsuki? Why is she suddenly throwing a party?"

Napoleon: "She was worried about us and thought of what she could do to help."

Napoleon: "She knew what we liked before we even knew it..."

Isaac: "................."

Isaac stares at the sandwiches for a while and takes a bite of one of them.

Isaac: "Mm, yummy."

Napoleon narrows his eyes at Isaac, who is munching a mouthful of food.

Mitsuki's party became known to the other members of the group.

Jean: "Snack party?"

Mozart: "It's childish, isn't it? Well, I won't force you, but if you feel like it, you can come too."

Mozart: "Maybe we stayed in the past a little too long. You and me both."

Jean: "Mozart..."

The mutterings were directed at his friend and Mozart himself.

Jean: "Maroron."

Mozart: "What?"

Jean: "Will there be marorons? Mitsuki used to make these pastries for me."

Jean: "It's colorful, sweet, and delicious. You should try some too."

Mozart guesses that he might be talking about macaroons and chuckles.

Mozart: "Dunno if there are any marorons. If you're curious, just come to the dining room."

After Mozart leaves, Jean ponders the words he uttered in wonder.

Eating is a sign that he's alive, even though he doesn't need it anymore since becoming a vampire.

It's amazing how he thinks it's delicious when for a long time, he had no interest in food.

Jean: "When did I start thinking this way? My wish..."

Theo frowns at Arthur, who comes to visit him in his room.

Theo: "What do you want, Arthur? I already said I'm working..."

Arthur: "Lies. You're not making any progress on your work."

Arthur smiles and tells Theo that Mitsuki has thrown a party for them.

Arthur: "I'm sure that Mitsuki knows that there are boundaries that she can't step into."

Arthur: "Still, it's cute that she wants to cheer everyone up."

Theo: "That's typical of Hondje."

As Theo smiles slightly, his brother arrives with his soft golden hair swaying.

Vincent: "Look, Theo. I drew King on a pancake with a chocolate pen!"

Theo: "Broer..."

Vincent: "Mitsuki prepared a lot of other delicious food. Won't you come with me?"

Arthur: "Theo. I know you're itching to say: Painting on pancakes? My broer is really an angel!"

Theo: "Shut up. I already said it in my mind."

Theo replied firmly and stepped out of his room.

Dazai: "Toshiko-san sure has some fun ideas. She really is an honest girl."

Sebastian: "Yes. Moreover, lately, she's getting better at using me, her colleague."

The two laugh together, and Dazai suddenly notices a ray of desserts that has been moved to the corner of the kitchen.

Dazai: "Oya, Sebastian. Why don't you put those on the table?"

Sebastian: "Oh, those are for Mr. Shakespeare."

Sebastian: "I couldn't invite him to today's party because of its suddenness."

Sebastian: "Mitsuki is saving some of those to give to him the next time they meet."

Cookies, macaroons, and chocolates, with the most eye-catching being the adorably decorated cupcakes ―What will he look like if he sees these?

Dazai: "It's Toshiko's generosity. I wish Shakespeare would eat it..."

Thanks to everyone calling out to each other, the party was a success.

The food was well-received, the drinks were happily consumed, and the house was filled with laughter for the first time in a long time.

As I stepped out onto the balcony to sober up, Leonardo and Comte approached me.

Leonardo: "Good work, Cara mia. You did a great job today."

Mitsuki: "I didn't do anything that great. But it was fun!"

Comte: "Yeah, you're right. I think you cheered up everyone somehow."

(I'm glad they're feeling a little better.)

Feeling relieved, Leonardo patted me on the head.

Leonardo: "Looking at their faces reminded me of something you said once."

Leonardo: "Vampires, humans―any of us can connect."

Leonardo: "It's like you connected us."

(I connected everyone...?)

Mitsuki: "I'm glad to hear that. It's because I love everyone in the mansion...!"

I don't want them to look sad because I care about them.

Whenever they feel anxious, conflicted, and alone, I want to reach out and hold on to them.

Leonardo: "Your smile is dazzling."

Leonardo's amber eyes light up with a burning heat.

(Leonardo...?)

Leonardo: "People like you, who live their limited "now" as hard as they can, look more beautiful to me than anything else."

Leonardo: "It's because it's so limited that I don't want to look away from it."

Comte: ".............."

(Leonardo has these eyes sometimes.)

(He looks at me and the people in the city with a burning look in his eyes.)

I looked into those eyes―and I suddenly got the message.

(Leonardo loves people very much. Comte too.)

Comte, while respecting humans, is concerned about the misery of life and seeks eternity.

Leonardo, on the other hand, is somewhat adept and seems to enjoy everything.

(Even the same pure-blooded vampire has a slightly different form of love for humans.)

(What about Comte's former "friend"?)

(He who has the ambition to protect the world―I wonder what kind of love he has?)

As I'm thinking about this―

Mitsuki: "Achoo!"

Comte: "Are you cold?"

Mitsuki: "S-Sorry, I'm fine!"

Leonardo: "Don't push yourself. Here, put this on, Cara mia."

He places his coat over my shoulders, softly enveloping me in warmth.

(Whoa! The sleeves are way too big. Leonardo really is tall.)

(And it smells of sweet cigarettes.)

I feel as if I'm wrapped in Leonardo's arms, and my heart beats faster.

Leonardo: "If that's not enough, how about I give you a hug?"

Mitsuki: "What!? Geez, stop joking around."

Comte: "Heh, Leonardo beat me to it. In that case, I'll warm your hands."

Mitsuki: "Comte...?"

To compete with him, Comte wraps his hand around mine and gently blows on it.

His lips slightly touch my skin, and not only my hand but also my cheeks become hot.

(Crap, why am I getting nervous...?)

Mitsuki: "Thank you Leonardo and Comte. But I've warmed up enough already...!"

I manage to pretend to act normal so that they won't know I'm nervous.

Then they look at each other and smile just a little bit wickedly.

Leonardo: "That's great. But now I think we're getting cold."

Comte: "Let's share more warmth, Mitsuki."

Mitsuki: "Ehh... umm..."

Sandwiched between Leonardo and Comte, they put their hands on my shoulders from both sides.

I feel like they can hear my voice, my breath, and my racing heartbeat.

Comte: "You look so stiff like you're still cold."

Mitsuki: "No, it's not that..."

Comte's hand suddenly caresses my back.

Rather than sharing the heat, his fingertips trace my back from my waist to my spine, making me shudder at the touch.

Mitsuki: "Ngh..."

Leonardo: "Hm? What's the matter, Cara mia? You're out of breath."

Mitsuki: "That's not true..."

This time, Leonardo's fingers tickle my lips.

When I let out a gasp, Leonardo chuckles and buries his lips in my hair.

(Wait. They're definitely enjoying my reaction.)

Mitsuki: "Are you two teasing me?"

My heart is pounding so hard as I ask them, and then suddenly, Leonardo bursts out laughing.

Leonardo: "Ahaha. Sorry, Cara mia. You're just so cute."

Comte: "Let's end the flirting here, shall we? Though maybe someday I'll get serious."

(Serious? That's a joke, right?)

(Both of them are grown-ups, but together, they look like naughty children.)

But I'm also somewhat glad to know a side of them that I usually don't see.

The fun night went on as the bad grown-ups messed with me.

Ikevamp Act 2.5

Chapter 12

Through his conversation with Mozart, Salieri almost came to his senses, but...

Salieri: "Ugh...Ahhh!"

Mozart: "Salieri!"

He left the room, holding his head, and we chased after him without a second thought.

Theo: "You guys..."

We bumped into Theo, Arthur, and Vincent in the hallway.

(Thank God. They are all safe.)

Mozart: "I'm chasing Salieri. How about you guys?"

Arthur: "Gauguin broke in. We took his weapons away, but he ran away, so we're trying to catch him."

Arthur's gaze catches mine, and everyone turns around in a huff.

Mozart: "Isaac, maybe you should have stayed behind with Mitsuki."

Isaac: "No, we don't have that kind of plan!"

Theo: "Hondje, you stay in your room!"

Mitsuki: "I'm going with you guys. I don't want to turn my back on what's going on. I'm part of the mansion too!"

(I have to see it all through properly with everyone else.)

Theo: "Mitsuki..."

Theo: "You're right. Leaving you alone now will just make me anxious. It can't be helped."

Theo: "Let's go, and don't wander off."

I nod vigorously back at Theo, and we run down the hallway.

We went out into the garden and found two figures.

(There's Salieri! And that's probably Gauguin standing nearby.)

But for some reason, they are both staring at something dumbfoundedly.

When I followed their gaze, what caught my attention was a jaw-dropping sight.

Shakespeare: "Guh...!"

Napoleon & Leonardo: "Shakespeare!?"

(There's a sword in Shakespeare's body...)

The Duke of Wellington's sword pierced Shakespeare to protect Napoleon.

Vincent: "Will!"

Surprisingly, all the residents of the mansion gathered together, and everyone gazed at the same scene with bated breath―each with a look of surprise and sadness on their faces.

As Gilles, who had been crossing swords with Jean, stood there, Napoleon caught Shakespeare's leaning body.

Napoleon: "Pull yourself together, Shakespeare!"

Duke of Wellington: "You bastard, how dare you to stand in my way! I could've killed Napoleon with this strike!!"

The moment the enraged Duke of Wellington draws his sword from Shakespeare―

Napoleon: "Haa!"

Still trying to get up, Napoleon's sword pierces the side of his throat, and the Duke falls.

Napoleon stopped the duke by putting the tip of his sword at him.

Napoleon: "This is as far as you go, Wellington. If you're back from the dead, too, then look at the world with those two eyes of yours."

Napoleon: "This is where we live, and the battle that lies ahead of us is over."

Duke of Wellington: "............."

Vincent & Comte: "Will!"

Mitsuki: "Shakespeare-san!"

Comte, Vincent, and I run to Shakespeare.

His body, leaning against Napoleon, and clothes were stained with blood.

(There's so much blood.)

I put pressure on the wound with my hand, and Shakespeare opens his lips to look at the Duke, Gilles, and the others, breathing heavily.

Shakespeare: "The Duke of Wellington, Gilles de Rais, Salieri, and Gauguin."

Shakespeare: "You came back to life and were driven mad because of me."

Shakespeare: "I have sought the tragedy of great men fighting and struggling with each other because I failed to believe in myself and clung to gaining real tragic experience..."

(It's like a confession.)

His voice is filled with a determination to face his sins and atone for them without running away.

Shakespeare: "The brainwashing that Lord Vlad put on you fuels your negative emotions."

Shakespeare: "But Robert and Adam Worth―they didn't cave into the brainwashing because they followed their hearts."

Arthur & Isaac: "............"

Shakespeare: "So please, follow your true..."

Unable to finish, Shakespeare starts coughing violently.

Comte: "Will, hang in there."

Vincent: "Don't talk anymore..."

As Shakespeare said his earnest wish...

Napoleon: "Wellington!"

Duke of Wellington: "Ugh...haa..."

I look up at Napoleon's shocked voice and see the Duke grabbing the sword and pointing it into his own heart.

(Oh my God...)

Napoleon: "Wellington, what are you..."

Wellington: "My vision finally cleared..."

Wellington: "Even though I was brainwashed, I could only find a way to live with my lingering regret in my first life..."

Wellington: "The ghosts of the past do not belong in a new era."

With that said, the Duke buries his sword deep into his own chest.

Then...

Gilles: "Haha! Brilliant. Shakespeare, Duke of Wellington. Then I'll settle for a clean slate too!"

Jean: "Gilles, sto―"

Gilles thrust his sword forcefully into the ground and placed his neck against the blade.

Jean catches his blood-stained body as it collapses.

Jean: "Gilles, you came to your senses, so why did you choose to die!?"

Gilles: "No. I've long since lost my mind, Jean."

Gilles: "I killed hundreds of people to fill the void in my heart where I lost you."

Jean: "-----!"

Gilles: "Since my resurrection, I've become a monster who can't even recognize the true wishes of my comrades-in-arms."

Jean: "Still, you stood alongside me on the battlefield. You're my only friend in the war, Gilles."

Gilles smiles happily. And then...

Wellington: "Farewell, my old enemy, Napoleon Bonaparte."

Gilles: "Live, my beautiful friend, Jean."

Under the moonlight, the two of them departed in peace, as if the madness that had driven them had been a lie.

Staring at the soldiers who killed themselves, Salieri kneels on the ground, mortified.

After witnessing the events before him, his eyes no longer have the color of madness in them.

Mozart: "Salieri. I'm sure your eyes are open now too."

Mozart: "You should write a requiem for them. The most beautiful requiem."

Salieri: "Yeah, I'll do that."

Salieri: "May their souls rest in peace. That is my redemption for being involved in this raid."

Mozart gently places his hand on his trembling shoulder.

Theo calls out to Gauguin's back, who was similarly staring at the situation in a daze.

Theo: "Gauguin. Your jealousy and hatred won't go away easily just because your brainwashing has been lifted."

Gauguin: "Ha! You still want to kill me?"

Theo: "Let's see. Yeah, I still can't forgive you."

Arthur: "............"

Theo: "But, grudgingly, I know how you feel."

Theo: "I know how it feels to love a painting so much that you envy someone else."

Gauguin's eyes widen.

Theo: "My time has stood still since that day."

Theo: "But after spending time in this mansion with all these rowdy fellas, I think a new time had begun to move."

Theo: "You've been painting since you came back to life. Then perhaps you should walk away, too, Gauguin."

Gauguin looks silently back at Theo, then at Vincent.

He narrows his eyes, perhaps remembering the brilliance of his talent or perhaps, remembering the times they spent together.

Gauguin: "Since I met you and Vincent, I haven't been able to give up my love for painting."

Gauguin: "I will no longer appear before you brothers."

With these words, Gauguin disappears into the woods outside the mansion.

Theo: "Arthur."

Arthur: "What?"

Theo: "Thank you."

Arthur's eyes widened for a moment, and he looked at him with his back still turned and smiled.

Shakespeare, on the other hand, looks increasingly paler under my arms.

Comte then pulls a vial of shimmering red liquid out of his coat.

Comte: "I had it just in case something like this happened. Will, I'll give you a glass of rouge now..."

He takes Shakespeare in his arms and pours a drop of rouge on his lips, but he doesn't even twitch.

Comte: "I guess he lost too much blood."

(He still needs more blood? Then...)

Mitsuki: "Comte, please use my blood too!"

Vincent: "I'll give you mine too if it helps Will!"

Dazai: "Hold on, you two."

Dazai crouches down beside Shakespeare, still unconscious, and talks to him.

Dazai: "Shakespeare, this is the plot you wanted."

Dazai: "It's a good story. But I don't like how it ends with you sacrificing yourself."

Dazai slips his hand inside his kimono and pulls out several small bottles of rouge.

Mitsuki: "Dazai-san, how did you get so many rouges!?"

Dazai: "I thought it would be a disaster if everyone was injured, so I had to steal some of them from the vault."

Dazai: "Thanks to that, my kimono got very heavy. Ahahaha!"

Sebastian: "I'll bring you some more right now!"

Leonardo: "I'm coming with you. Hold on, Shakespeare!"

Comte: "Thanks, Dazai. Come on, Will."

As he gave Shakespeare rouge again, the color in his cheeks soon began to come back to life, and two colored eyes peeked out from behind his eyelids.

Shakespeare: "I'm..."

Mitsuki: "Shakespeare-san!"

Vincent: "Will! Thank God..."

Comte: "I'm sorry, Will. I couldn't save you until this happened."

Vincent: "Me too. I'm your friend, but I didn't understand anything about you."

Shakespeare: "No, Comte, Vincent. I have betrayed you all for my own desires."

Shakespeare: "A sin is a sin, and punishment is a punishment. Even if I atone for it, I can't cleanly sweep it all away. But still..."

Shakespeare: "I wanted to avoid the worst tragedy, so I followed my heart."

Shakespeare: "I'm not expecting a happy ending like this, but I suppose it's not a bad one..."

Shakespeare smiles faintly, and Dazai nods.

There is still much to think about, but everyone exchanges a few words of relief.

I sigh deeply and look up at the sky. And before I know it, the clouds have cleared, and only the beautiful crescent moon is smiling at me.

In a forest where no moonlight could reach, two men are watching everything going on at the mansion.

Charles: "Docteur, it looks like it's settled. But Wellington and Gilles de Rais..."

Faust: "............"

Charles: "Nope. I guess this means we're one step closer to Lord Vlad's plan. I wonder what he's going to do next."

Faust: "His Excellency's goal is to get a strong piece. Either by contacting the great men of the mansion or..."

His sharp eyes behind his glasses focused on Mitsuki's figure.

A few days later...

We mourned the Duke of Wellington, Gilles, and Hooke.

On the way back from visiting the grave with Napoleon, Isaac, and Jean―

Mitsuki: "I hope those three can get a good night's sleep this time."

Isaac: "Yeah. Good thing Shakespeare buried Hooke."

Isaac: "I wonder if something would've been different if we had met differently."

Napoleon: "But those guys saved their own dignity at the end. That's impressive."

Jean: "We're the only ones who know how Gilles and the others lived their second lives. Let's never forget it."

The three smile in honor of their loss―both looked sad and proud.

(It was really a tough night.)

(But everyone is slowly moving on like this.)

When I gaze at their backs as they turn forward with firm steps―

(----!)

The wind blew so hard that the ribbon tying my hair came undone.

The ribbon flew away teasingly as I reached out to grab it.

After chasing it for a while, I found myself back at the cemetery.

(I wonder where the ribbon went. I thought I could pick it up right away, but it flew surprisingly far away.)

(I have to catch up before everyone worries...)

I look around and stop when I see the gravestone of the Duke again.

I remember the way he was in the middle of his madness, but at the very end, he regained his true self.

(Those guys were strong.)

(But it was Vlad who revived and drove them insane.)

(I met a gentleman in a florist's apron. But...)

I remember what we talked about when Shakespeare was still recovering.

Shakespeare: "Like snow without footprints, Lord Vlad is unforgiving and at the same time terribly pure."

Shakespeare: "I sometimes wonder if there's another facade hiding beneath that chilling snowy smile."

Comte: "Maybe that guy is being cruel by hiding his heart in the snow..."

Shakespeare: "He's trying to save the world. But will that save Lord Vlad?"

(Vlad's hidden heart?)

I don't get how he could've planned the attack to take advantage of the great men and how he could lie like that, smiling.

(The attack may be over, but if we don't stop Vlad, it will surely happen again.)

(But how...?)

Who in the world could stop him?

As I stood there alone, thinking about it, another gust of wind blew, and I smelled the scent of sweet roses.

Vlad: "Is this what you're looking for?"

Mitsuki: "Vlad."

Vlad smiles as he holds out my ribbon.

Before I can even ask him why he's here, he places a bouquet of roses on the grave of Wellington.

Vlad: "I'm here to offer my condolences to them for their hard work. And also, I felt like I could see you again, Mitsuki."

Mitsuki: "You thought you could see me?"

Vlad: "Yes. I really needed to talk to you."

Vlad: "Did you not want to see me anymore?"

I guess Vlad already knows that I have heard everything from Comte.

Mitsuki: "I don't know. But I wanted to talk to you too."

We stare at each other for a few seconds, with only the petals of the rose scattering in the wind.

Soon, he holds out his beautiful hand in front of me―inviting me to go with him.

(I learned a lot about him even though we only met once in person...)

I know that he is a pureblood vampire and that he created that door after leaving Comte for his ambition, but...

(I can't see his heart.)

(I can't figure out Vlad. I don't know anything, but I want to understand.)

I couldn't take his hand without thinking about the consequences, though.

I hesitated, and before I knew it, a small animal had gathered at his feet.

Vlad: "Hey, a wild rabbit? Looks like this guy has a soft spot for humans. He often comes to this place. Ahaha, this is a problem."

(He laughs like a child.)

This side of him almost caught me off guard.

Vlad: "I remember the first time I brainwashed a rabbit to test my power."

(------!)

Vlad: "I didn't really understand my power at the time, so the rabbit went into the lake..."

Vlad: "I felt sorry for him.”

His disturbing story somehow stirs my heart.

(Is this a threat?)

Vlad could brainwash me right now, but Napoleon and the others are probably still around.

Should I run away, or should I quietly follow so as not to endanger everyone?

But on the other hand, I'm confused about his true intentions. I feel like his sad eyes have nothing to do with it.

Then he suddenly cast down his eyes.

Vlad: "I'm sorry."

His voice sounded so lonely, and as if being pushed, I held his hand unconsciously.

He took me to an old castle nestled deep in the woods.

(Why did I take his hand?)

'If I refuse him, he might brainwash someone else again,' is one of the reasons why my reason kicked in.

But I also know that everyone is going to be worried if I disappear.

And yet, I'm sure that I was driven by an impulse that was at odds with my rationality.

Vlad: "Wait here for a while. I'm going to water the flowers."

Vlad begins to water the blooming flowers in the garden.

He looks at the flowers lovingly, and beside him is the wagon he had pulled when we first met.

(In this way, he looks like the florist I met back then.)

Vlad: "Hm? This flower seems to be doing something bad."

With a voice slightly tinged with coldness, Vlad snaps the stem of a beautiful blooming flower.

(Huh?)

Too hesitant to say anything about his gesture, Vlad puts the flowers on the wagon.

Mitsuki: "Vlad, why did you suddenly pluck the flower? It's still blooming."

Vlad: "Look, the stem looks discolored. It seems like it has some kind of disease."

Vlad: "If I let this flower bloom as it is, it will kill all the neighboring flowers."

Vlad: "This flower bloomed without realizing it."

Mitsuki: "That's why you broke it off...?"

Vlad: "Yeah. It's better for this flower if I break it here."

Vlad: "Because if you don't even realize you're committing a sin, someone has to guide you in this way."

Why do his narrowed crimson eyes look clouded?

Vlad: "But people smile when they see flowers. That's why I bring them to town."

Vlad: "I'm sure these flowers are glad to have someone to look at them, even if only a little, in their last days."

His hands pluck flowers without hesitation, yet he wants the humans to smile?

(Is he a kind man? Or a scary man?)

The more I try to get to know him, the more I find myself stuck in a maze.

Mitsuki: "Hey Vlad, what really is the real you―"

Just as I was about to take a step closer, a cheerful voice and a low voice reached my ears.

Charles: "Welcome, Mitsuki! We've been waiting for you for a long time."

Faust: "She's a precious guinea pig, so let's treat her well."

Ikevamp Act 2.5

Chapter 18 Romantic End

A few days after the events at the Black gathering...

Mitsuki: "So that black group got exposed?"

Comte: "Yeah. And those who were being sold as sacrifices were also freed. Thanks to everyone's cooperation."

(Thank God...)

I pat myself in relief as the string of incidents finally comes to an end.

On the day of the gathering, we, who had infiltrated the scene and helped free Ulfa and the others, got away with it after only being questioned by the police, thanks to Comte's help.

The organizers and participants of the gathering were seized at the scene.

They also found the culprits who set off the bombing at the World's Fair, clearing Halil's clan of suspicion.

Comte: "The bombing was apparently a protest by those who found out about the connections between the showmen and the group."

Mitsuki: "I see, protest. So those people caused the bombing for their own sense of justice."

No one was killed in the bombing, but many people were injured.

I understand their reason, but I can't say the means they used were right.

Comte: "It would be best if we could fix the mistakes without using violence."

(Everyone should know that, so why is it so difficult?)

(There are as many justifications and beliefs as there are people. And yet, one aspect of it creates mistakes and sacrifices.)

As I'm feeling frustrated that problems are not easily solved in reality, someone knocks on the door, and a person with a genuine smile appears.

Shakespeare: "Oh dear. You look like a wilted flower, Mitsuki."

Mitsuki: "Shakespeare! Comte was just filling me in on what happened after the incident."

Shakespeare: "I see, so you have been depressed by the reality that things are not as they should be. Well, I have good news for you."

Shakespeare: "They caught the showman who sold Halil's sister, and it seems that the treatment of his clan improved."

Mitsuki: "Really? Oh, thank god!"

According to Shakespeare, the people who were put behind the fence and on display are now out, talking to onlookers, sharing their family's culture, and interacting with people on a more equal footing.

I hope they look more alive now than they did back then.

(This world is not an easy problem to solve.)

(But in this way, we can change little by little.)

We can learn from the past, bring our thoughts and feelings together, and figure out a way to gently hold each other's hands instead of hurting each other.

(If we keep collecting beautiful things, I'm sure we can change the future someday.)

(That's right. Let's believe in that.)

Shakespeare chuckles as I ponder this.

Shakespeare: "Fufu, looks like the wilted flower has come back to life."

Mitsuki: "I'm just happy. I want to go to the World's Fair again!"

Comte: "Good idea. And the venue that was bombed is slowly being repaired with the help of craftsmen and volunteers."

Comte: "Let's go together this time. Mitsuki, Will, everyone at the mansion, and then..."

Comte and I looked at each other and nodded.

The faces that we thought of would probably be the same.

At that time, the three people Mitsuki had in mind were…

Faust: "Oh, by the way, those dhampir siblings..."

Faust: "I heard that there's a couple who wants to take care of them until they return to their hometown after the world's fair is over."

Charles: "Oh yeah. Leonardo stopped by the church the other day and told me about it."

Vlad: "Heh. Da Vinci, huh?"

Faust: "I heard the couple offered to let those kids get a taste of life in Paris, not just a place of work."

Charles: "Halil also told them about their own lore. And you know what?"

Halil: "I've been told that our family has vampire blood in their veins."

Ulfa: "Look! You can see our fangs when we smile. Aren't you scared?"

Woman: "My goodness, that's a cute set of fangs. It's very charming."

Man: "Thank you for telling us. Can you please tell us more about yourselves?"

Vlad: "I see they have found a good couple."

Vlad: "This is another miraculous and fateful meeting between humans, huh?"

Vlad's eyes narrowed softly as he listened to the conversation.

Faust: "That aside, I heard that Comte also wanted to take care of the siblings at the mansion."

Charles: "But Leonardo stopped him, saying he couldn't let them see them drinking rouge."

Vlad: "Pft―ahaha! It's so Comte to reach out to someone right in front of him like that."

Vlad: "I guess some people are saved by his kindness."

Vlad's eyes filled with nostalgia as he gazed at the scene of a distant day.

Faust stares at him for a moment and then asks.

Faust: "Old man, why didn't you use your brainwashing power when you entered that place?"

Vlad: "................"

Faust: "If you had brainwashed everyone who was there, things would have gone much more smoothly."

Faust: "Did you hesitate because Mitsuki would see you?"

Vlad: "No, it's not like that."

Vlad simply smiles at Faust's offhanded remark and gets up from the bench he is sitting on.

As he slowly walks, his footsteps echo in the quiet cathedral.

Vlad: "My power is actually not that versatile."

Vlad: "Brainwashing several people at once takes a toll on my mind and body."

Vlad: "If I used my power halfway in that place, I might not have been able to save them all."

Faust & Charles: "..............."

Vlad: "And I've been thinking about some things ever since I met Mitsuki."

Charles: "What kind of things...?"

Vlad suddenly looks up.

The light spilling out from the windows appears like the last remaining hope scattered in Pandora's box.

Vlad: "I love this world."

Vlad: "I wanted to nip their sins in the bud and guide mankind so that they wouldn't make mistakes and lead us to a future of peace."

Vlad: "But I think my ambition and this brainwashing power are taking away the hidden potential of human beings."

Vlad: "That's what I've been thinking since I met Mitsuki."

Charles: "What do you mean by hidden potential?"

Vlad: "The power to create miracles."

Mitsuki: "Vlad, you're not a God."

Mitsuki: "As proof, look, we can hold hands like this."

The warmth of Mitsuki's hand that held his blood-soaked hands still lingers.

Mitsuki's hand lifted Vlad up from his self-imposed destiny.

She connected his heart with a friend he thought he would never cross paths with again.

If Mitsuki had been brainwashed, this miracle would never have happened.

Vlad: "Mitsuki, you saved me again. Just like that snowy day."

Faust walks up to Vlad as he mutters to himself.

Faust: "Do you remember? I asked you a similar question before."

Faust: "I thought at the time that Mitsuki was the only one special enough not to be brainwashed by you."

Charles: "Mitsuki is special, isn't she?"

Charles: "From the day you guys met, I could see the love in your eyes as you looked at Mitsuki, Lord Vlad."

Vlad: ".............."

Charles: "I still don't know what love is, but that's how it felt to me."

Charles: "Mitsuki has moved Lord Vlad's heart."

Charles rushes bouncily to the door and peeks at Vlad with a smile.

Vlad himself found them and revived them using the door, hoping that he could use them as pawns for his ambitions, but when did it become natural for them to be by his side?

With this thought in his heart, Vlad tells them these in a soft voice.

Vlad: "I'll continue to love this world. But I also want to have a little more faith in people."

Faust: "So you're going to give up your ambitions?"

Vlad: "No. My ambition to protect the world has become a "dream" that I want to fulfill."

Vlad: "I'll leave my dreams to the people I love."

Faust & Charles: ".............."

It's the first carefree smile that Faust and Charles see.

Charles: "Fufu. I'm so happy. I feel like I'm finally getting close to the real Lord Vlad."

Charles: "Right! Lord Vlad, Docteur. I'd like to know more about the people in that mansion."

Charles: "I've only known them through Will and you, but I'd like to talk to them."

Faust: "Considering what we've done, I don't think they'll agree to it so easily."

Faust: "But, let's at least try to work together just like what we did in that gathering."

Charles: "Agreed. I'd like to see Mitsuki, too. Maybe the three of us can go to the mansion together next time!"

Vlad: "Ahaha, that's a good idea. I'd love to see Mitsuki's surprised face."

The three voices echoed through the light-filled cathedral as they began plotting their "assault" on the mansion.

In an art gallery on a corner in Paris...

A man named Gauguin appears from the doorway, looking down.

The picture of the vivid sunflowers he had just seen at the art gallery was stuck in his mind.

The artist, of course...

Gauguin: "Vincent. It seems my jealousy of your talent won't go away easily."

Gauguin: "I guess I'll just have to keep painting with this feeling."

Gauguin: "Haha, I can paint again. It's like a dream. I've been painting for what seems like an eternity."

Gauguin smiles to himself, still unable to grasp the joys and pains of painting.

Then, a couple of men pass by him...

Mystery Man 1: "That's right. You shouldn't even be here."

Gauguin: "What?"

Gauguin had no idea what had happened.

But as he looked down, he saw a sharp blade, which appeared to be the tip of a spear, deeply stuck in his chest.

Gauguin: "Who the hell are you guys?"

Mystery Man 2: "Farewell, poor vampire. I'll make you disappear before you even dream."

The last thing Gauguin heard was a gruff voice.

Before he could even see their faces, his vision turned dark.

Our mansion has regained its former peaceful lifestyle.

Then, one fine day...

Comte: "You suddenly sent me a letter saying we should have a tea party."

Comte: "Can't you do something about that impulse of yours, Vlad?"

Vlad: "Charles said he would make a lot of strawberry sweets, so I couldn't say no."

Faust: "Lord Vlad is a crazy strawberry maniac."

Charles: "I made something delicious, and I want Mitsuki to eat it. And of course, you guys too."

Leonardo: "I see, so we're just along for the ride, huh? Well, that's fine, but you guys insisted on it, so get on with it already."

(I was surprised when those three suddenly said they were coming, but...)

I watched from the dining room window as everyone carried in tables and chairs to prepare for the tea party in the garden.

Seeing them working together somehow made me smile.

Sebastian: "Mitsuki, is the tea set ready?"

Mitsuki: "Yup, it's perfect! Oh yeah, I bought some new tea leaves the other day."

Mitsuki: "These tea leaves were specially mixed in to commemorate the world's fair. Since it's so special, let's brew this one."

Sebastian nodded and tilted his head.

Mitsuki: "What's wrong?"

Sebastian: "Oh, it's nothing. Speaking of which, there's one thing that's been bugging me."

Sebastian: "There's no recorded event of a bombing at the Paris World's Fair."

(Huh?)

Sebastian: "But history is not always true, so I'm sure it got buried in the history books."

Sebastian: "Just a small wonder from a former historian. Forget it."

Sebastian then accepts the tea from me and carries the tea set.

(The bombing didn't happen in history, but the incident still happened.)

(Maybe history has changed or something?)

If so, then that means...

Sebastian: "Mitsuki? Let's go."

Mitsuki: "O-Okay!"

I put that thought aside and walked to the garden where everyone was waiting.

Surprisingly, the tea party turned out to be lively...

Sebastian: "Would you like another cup of tea, everyone? We also have strawberry sweets that Charles made for us."

Sebastian: "Please also try the apple pie that Mitsuki and I made. Isaac gave us his seal of approval!"

Charles: "Seal of approval? Does that mean you like apples, Newt?"

Faust: "Newton and the apple. Ah, you mean the universal gravitation?"

Isaac: "Ah, geez! Stop talking about apples already! And stop calling me Newt!"

Arthur: "Pfft...Newt's apple story is so classic."

Napoleon: "Guys, go easy on him."

Isaac: "You just said you want to tease me! I thought you were on my side."

Mozart: "I think they're teasing you because you react like that. Well, I guess you're having a hard time, too."

I watch from a distance as everyone gets excited while I show Vlad around the garden to check the flowers.

Vlad: "Mitsuki."

Mitsuki: "Oh, sorry. The roses are blooming over there."

Vlad: "No, I just thought you looked beautiful with those kind eyes of yours."

His bluntness made me blush.

Mitsuki: "Thanks. But it's kind of embarrassing to hear you say that so suddenly."

Vlad: "But it's true. Even in this simple moment, you're more beautiful than anything else."

Vlad: "Hey, what were you thinking just now?"

Mitsuki: "I was remembering something that happened a while ago."

Vlad tilts his head slightly, prompting the conversation to continue.

Mitsuki: "When I couldn't go back to my world, everyone in the mansion threw me a welcome party."

Leonardo: "What's the matter, Cara mia? You've been smiling for a while now."

Mitsuki: "Hehe, I'm having so much fun. I just couldn't stop smiling."

Mitsuki: "Besides, everyone here was born in different times and different countries."

Mitsuki: "It's strange that we're sitting around a dinner table together, but I think it’s wonderful."

Mitsuki: "When I'm with everyone, I feel we can connect no matter who we are."

The feelings I had at that time came back to me again.

And I'm sure every one of us had a lot of emotions swirling around in our hearts, past that we can't forget, beliefs that we can't give up, and doubts.

But we overcame them and are gathered here now.

Mitsuki: "I think it is difficult for people to understand each other."

Mitsuki: "But nothing will change if we don't try to understand and stay away."

Mitsuki: "Even if it's baby steps, we should start communicating and give each other more chances to get closer."

Mitsuki: "I want to make the world a place where everyone can connect as a human being."

Vlad: "Mitsuki..."

This world is not made by one person.

The world is made by humans, vampires, and purebloods.

Everyone should be able to connect their hearts and live together.

As I speak out my feelings, Vlad gently narrows his crimson eyes like a man who has found a lost treasure.

Vlad: "Hey, Mitsuki, I'm here now because you found me."

Mitsuki: "Huh?"

Vlad: "You've kept me connected. You connected me to this world where humans and vampires live together."

Vlad: "Thank you for connecting me to my heart."

Vlad's eyes right now have the purity of a kid...

Mitsuki: "Let me also say this. Thank you for trying to protect this world, Vlad."

Vlad suddenly pulls up my hand and grins wickedly.

Vlad: "Then Mitsuki, how about you and I become more than family?"

Mitsuki: "More than family?"

Comte: "As the patriarch of this mansion, I can't simply accept that."

Vlad and Comte exchange a cheery but somewhat intimidating smile across me.

(Is it just my imagination that it looks like sparks are flying?)

Leonardo: "Seriously, those two still didn't learn their lesson. Leave those little mocciosi alone, Cara mia."

Leonardo: "I'll take care of you, okay?"

Leonardo chuckled as he touched my head and looked into my eyes.

Vlad: "Wait. You can't be too careful here, Da Vinci."

Comte: "Why do vampires like Mitsuki so much?"

Their interaction is somewhat childlike, but their deep, kind eyes make my heart pound.

Shakespeare: "Oh? I was wondering where Mitsuki was, but it looks like those three took her away."

Faust: "Are all the pureblood geezers like this?"

Charles: "Count me in, Lord Vlad. If it's about seducing Mitsuki, I won't lose."

The people at the table beckon us to join them.

Mitsuki: "Hehe, everyone is calling us. I'll make us a fresh pot of tea. Let's go!"

Leonardo: "Good grief, it's going to be hard to get out of this."

Comte: "Who will seduce Mitsuki? I guess it all depends on the fate that lies ahead."

Vlad: "Let's go then. Mitsuki..."

Vlad gently and invitingly pulls my hand he's holding.

While Leonardo gently holds my other hand.

Comte: "Sometimes I think about the past, the beautiful memories and the bitter ones, but maybe all of it was meant to lead us to where we are now."

Comte's words fall into the distant sky as he reaches his hand toward me.

Leonardo: "Present, huh? I guess you're right. Even though we experience pain and sorrow, the joy still outweighs it."

Leonardo: "That's what encounters with people are like. That's why I'm drawn to people. I can't take my eyes off them for the rest of my life."

Vlad: "People sometimes create miracles that change destiny. That's what I like about them."

Vlad: "Mitsuki made me realize that."

Vlad: "I wonder what kind of future awaits us in this world we're building with you."

(The world we're building?)

Mitsuki: "What lies ahead must be..."

A destiny yet to be seen, a miracle yet to be performed, and unquenchable hope.

We will live in this world with the warmth of our connected hands.

In this world, there is a “reason” that cannot be changed in any way.

Life begins its destiny as soon as it sprouts, and it will eventually fall into eternal sleep, for that is its destiny.

There is no such thing as a flower that never withers. No, there never was.

Are these vampires who have deviated from "reason" good for this world?

Or are they evil?

Chapter 17 Romantic Premium

𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱

Vlad: "I don't want flowers that do bad things to this world or humans."

Mitsuki: "Stop, Vlad!"

The moment I screamed to stop him, the smile I had seen the day I met him came back to me.

Vlad: "Hey, fighting is bad."

Vlad: "Your hands are not meant to harm other people. Don't we all want to be friends all the time?"

(That's right. You said it yourself, Vlad.)

I hugged Vlad from behind, driven by the feelings that welled inside me.

Vlad: ".................."

Mitsuki: "Vlad..."

I wrap my hands around Vlad's blood-soaked hands from behind.

The wound may have already started to close up, but I gently stroke it to drown out the pain.

Vlad: "Mitsuki, your hands will get dirty."

Mitsuki: "It's okay. It's okay now, Vlad."

Mitsuki: "Don't put any more blood on your hands."

Mitsuki: "These hands are not here to hurt anyone."

Made many flowers bloom in that garden.

These hands can compassionately care for children.

These hands have the same warmth as mine and humans.

Mitsuki: "Vlad, you're not a God."

Mitsuki: "As proof, look, we can hold hands like this."

Vlad: "................"

Vlad is not saying anything.

I don't know what he's thinking in this silence, but still, I want to tell him.

Mitsuki: "Don't hurt anyone's or your own heart anymore."

Vlad: "Mitsuki..."

Vlad: "Comte..."

Comte: "Let's think about humans and this world together."

Comte: "Let's hold hands, so you don't have to dirty them anymore. Just like when we were little."

Vlad remembers the day he reached Comte's hands and said: don't cry.

But this time, Comte is the one who reaches out to him.

Their hands and feelings are now about to overlap again after hundreds of years of passing each other.

Vlad: "Mitsuki, Comte, what you guys say is always beautiful."

Vlad: "But I don't know why, even if it's beautiful, I want to believe it."

Vlad: "I wish I could be close to you..."

Mitsuki: "Vlad..."

His crimson eyes narrowed softly, and he tightened his grip on our clasped hands to fill the loneliness that had lasted for too long.

Vlad, who stood behind me, called me over, and as I turned around, he reached out to hold my hand with a slightly sad look in his eyes.

Vlad: "I'm sorry for getting your beautiful hands all dirty."

(He's right. I was so distracted that I forgot about it.)

When I grabbed Vlad's hand earlier, the blood got onto my hands.

I tried to tell him not to worry about it, but Vlad brought his face close to mine.

Mitsuki: "Vlad?"

Then, his lips gently touch the palm of my hand.

My heart beats faster as he repeatedly kisses my hand like an animal licking its wounds.

Mitsuki: "U-Um, Vlad. What's wrong...?"

Vlad: "Because you looked like you were in more pain than I was."

Vlad: "I thought if I kissed you like this, it could heal you a little."

Vlad: "It's funny because I don't have the power to heal wounds."

Mitsuki: "Vlad..."

(This is the real Vlad.)

Even when he knows there's no wound, he'll be brokenhearted if it looks painful.

The kindness he shows me makes my heart ache.

Mitsuki: "No, it's not funny. Thank you, Vlad."

Vlad: ".............."

Vlad: "Mitsuki, why...?"

Mitsuki: "Huh?"

Vlad: "I've caused you so much trouble, so why are you smiling so happily now?"

Seeing Vlad's cute surprised expression made me smile even more.

Mitsuki: "I told you before, remember? If everyone I care about is happy, that's enough to make me smile."

Mitsuki: "And, of course, that includes you, Vlad."

Vlad: "................"

Vlad: "Thank you, Mitsuki."

With that, Vlad smiles.

It's not a doll-like smile but a smile that exudes joy from deep inside.

Ikevamp Act 2.5

Chapter 15 Romantic Route

Let's go back to the same time Mitsuki went to the World's Fair site.

Leonardo: "No clue about Cara mia again, huh? Damn it..."

Leonardo clucks his tongue despite the festive mood of the city.

They split up with the others to look for Mitsuki, but Vlad and his friends never showed up at the church they are using as a base.

Shakespeare couldn't get any leads on them, probably because his memory may have been manipulated.

Leonardo: "We can't even trace their presence."

Comte: "Will says that Vlad and his friends wear lapel pins that make them invisible to the purebloods."

Suddenly, a group of excited children runs past Leonardo and Comte.

Child 1: "I got this balloon at the World's Fair."

Child 2: "Wow, nice. Maybe I should get one too."

Leonardo: "World's Fair? If so, I'm sure Cara mia would be smiling like that right now."

Comte: "............."

Leonardo: "Hey, Comte, I don't know what that guy told Cara mia to go with him, but you said Vlad would never harm her."

Comte: "Yeah, Vlad loves mankind equally. He can be kind or cruel, like a god. But for some reason, he seemed to be moved by Mitsuki."

Comte: "If Mitsuki is not "one of the many" but "a special person" for Vlad, I don't think he would do anything to hurt her."

Leonardo: "Knowing Cara mia, I'm sure she went to him for us. To find out what she can do."

Leonardo: "Mitsuki knows how to work hard for someone. That's the kind of person she is."

Comte: "You're right. All the more reason to get her back in one piece."

As the two nodded, a loud explosion vibrated through the air.

Comte: "What was that sound...?"

Leonardo: "Over there. There's some smoke coming from around the World's Fair site!"

Leonardo pointed to a black smoke rising up, and after a while, people rushed in from the same direction, running for their lives.

Comte: "Was it an accident? Or..."

Duke Germant: "Ah, Comte! I'm glad you’re safe!"

It was the Duke, an acquaintance of Comte's, who approached him in the crowd.

Comte: "Duke Germant, what in the world happened!?"

Duke Germant: "That's the thing, there was a sudden explosion at the main venue."

Nobody knows what really happened, and the scene is chaotic. The duke, however, frantically fled with his family.

Duke Germant: "By the way, the young lady you sometimes take with you in the hall, Mitsuki, I think I just saw her."

Leonardo & Comte: "!!!"

Duke Germant: "Did she go to the World's Fair with someone? I hope Mitsuki is all right."

After a few words of concern, the Duke left, and Comte and Leonardo looked at each other with impatience.

Comte: "Mitsuki is at the World's Fair?"

Leonardo: "We'll just have to go there anyway!"

Against the surging crowd, the two run for Mitsuki.

The black smoke, ill-suited to this place, dimly stained the clear blue sky and the beautiful building had a large hole in the roof.

Vlad: "Mitsuki, are you all right?"

Mitsuki: "Y-Yeah. Thanks, Vlad. But what happened?"

Charles: "I think that building exploded. Was it an accident or...?"

Faust: "Nein, the explosion is still going on. It is possible that someone set it off intentionally."

Faust: "Anyway, we need to get out of here stat."

Vlad: "Let's go. Stay close to me, Mitsuki."

As I took Vlad's hand and managed to get up on my unsteady feet, I was surrounded by the angry shouts of people in an uproar.

Noble: "The World Fair is ruined! I'm sure those working-class people are behind this barbaric act!"

Citizen: "What did you say? You're blaming us? What do you even know? You're just an aristocrat!"

Mitsuki: "We don't have time for this!"

Vlad: "There's nothing you can say to them now. Let's hurry up."

Vlad glances at the people arguing, and a sad shadow appears in his eyes.

(Vlad. This is not the only aspect of human nature.)

I'm sure they're just venting their resentment at each other out of fear right now.

As I was searching for a safe place with my thoughts running through my mind, a faint voice reached my ears.

Boy's voice: "It hurts. Somebody, help me!"

(That's the boy who was put on the fence earlier as a human exhibit.)

I think that boy's name is Halil.

With no other people from his clan around, the boy stayed slumped over on the ground with his injured leg.

(At this rate, he'll get caught up in the stampede!)

Vlad: "Mitsuki!"

Not wanting to leave him alone, I let go of Vlad's hand, turn back and run up to Halil.

Mitsuki: "Are you okay!? Big sister will support you, let's go."

Halil: "Okay..."

As I stood up to support Halil, a large shadow hovered over my head.

(No way, those are debris from the building!)

Unable to avoid the large pieces of debris that were about to fall, I quickly hugged Halil, squeezing my eyes shut as I braced myself for the pain.

???: "Mitsuki!"

(Huh? I'm fine...?)

I sat up and found them protecting me.

Mitsuki: "Vlad! And..."

Leonardo: "I somehow managed to get here in time..."

Comte: "Mitsuki! Are you hurt!?"

Mitsuki: "Leonardo, Comte!"

Mitsuki: "What are you two doing here?"

Comte: "I heard from an acquaintance that he saw you at the World's Fair. I'm glad you're safe."

Leonardo: "You scared the hell out of me, Cara mia."

The debris had only grazed them, and they didn't seem to be hurt either.

More than anything, I could feel that they were sincerely worried about me.

(What should I do? I feel like crying.)

Not only now, but I must also have been worrying them tremendously.

The apology and the relief of seeing each other for the first time in a while made the back of my eyes burn.

Charles: "Mitsuki! Are you okay!? Oh..."

Faust: "This is another yet tricky situation."

Faust and Charles, who rushed in before I could thank the three people who helped me, widened their eyes.

I looked over and saw Vlad and Comte looking at each other silently.

Leonardo: "We have a lot to say, but for now, let's just run."

After saying that, Leonardo looks down at Halil, who is in my arms.

Mitsuki: "Right! Are you okay?"

Halil nodded a little but was a little dazed due to his injury.

Leonardo then carried Halil.

Mitsuki: "Thank you, Leonardo!"

Leonardo: "I don't mind this much. But what the hell is going on today?"

Comte: "Hey Vlad, who is this kid? This presence..."

(Come to think of it, Vlad was wondering about something too...)

Vlad: "You both felt it too, huh? There's no doubt about it."

We left the chaos of the World's Fair and came to Vlad's church because this is where they keep Charles' medical tools and Faust's remedies.

Charles: "Mitsuki, are you in pain?"

Mitsuki: "I'm fine. It's just a scratch. Thanks."

Faust: "The boy here doesn't seem to have any broken bones either, so he should be fine."

Halil is sleeping on my lap, probably because he's tired.

Faust and Charles sighed after examining Halil and me.

Charles: "Hey, Docteur. I feel like I'm suffocating."

Faust: "Is there something you want to say? Leonardo da Vinci?"

Leonardo: "No. Just surprised to see you treating Cara mia more respectfully than I feared."

Leonardo watched intently as the two of them treated us.

Leonardo: "But you guys took Mitsuki away. I'm going to have to be on the lookout for you."

Mitsuki: "I was the one who followed Vlad. And I knew it would worry everyone in the mansion."

Mitsuki: "I'm really, really sorry for being selfish."

Leonardo: "You don't sound like you're being threatened."

Leonardo: "I was worried about you, but I'm sure you had your reasons, Cara mia."

Leonardo, who narrowed his eyes gently, patted me on the head.

(To be honest, Faust and Charles played pranks on me, but that was only the first time...)

After that, they both treated me normally, and I never felt in danger.

Charles: "Lord Vlad was very protective of Mitsuki while she was at the castle."

Vlad: "I would never hurt Mitsuki."

Leonardo: "Oh, really? So that's where our Comte was right."

Tilting my head, I look down at Halil sleeping on my lap.

At that moment, the church doors opened, and Comte returned, flipping his coat.

Comte: "Of course, there's no evidence or anything. However, some citizens are calling for the clan to be taken into custody."

Vlad: "The unity of human beings against an entity they recognize as different is frightening."

Vlad: "I don't know what they will do to him if this continues."

(Then, if we give him away now...)

Halil: "Am I going to get caught by the police?"

Mitsuki: "Halil!"

Halil wakes up and gets up slowly.

Halil: "Our family would never blow up a venue like that."

Leonardo: "Don't worry, kid. You should be proud and believe in yourselves."

Mitsuki: "He's right. You're definitely not gonna get caught."

Halil murmured in a trembling voice as I gently held him close, wanting to reassure his eyes that were shaking with anxiety.

Halil: "If the police capture me, I won't be able to see Ulfa again. I haven't even found her yet."

(Ulfa?)

He squeezed my hand and pleaded with tears in his eyes.

Halil: "Please, find my sister!"

Chapter 16 Dramatic Route

That night, in a mansion built deep in the forest, all the vampires are gathered.

When the three appear with Comte, the residents of the mansion raise their eyebrows.

Shakespeare: "Lord Vlad. And even Faust and Charles."

Vlad: "It's been a long time, Will."

Napoleon: "Vlad. I never thought I'd meet the culprits responsible for attacking us this way."

Isaac: "You're the pureblood that brought Hooke back to life..."

Jean: "Even if you have a good reason, don't think I'll easily forgive you for manipulating Gilles and kidnapping Mitsuki."

Vlad: "I'm not going to defend myself for what I put you guys through. If it makes you feel better, you can put your sword through this chest."

Vlad: "I'm not going to die, though."

Napoleon: ".............."

Vlad's words exude no mockery but rather all the resolve he carries with him.

Napoleon sensed this as he stared at the man in front of him.

Comte: "I'm sorry. I know you guys have your own opinions. But right now, I need you to listen to me."

Mozart: "I guess they're not here to fight. Tell us what happened."

Charles: "We were at the Expo with Mitsuki. And then..."

The bombing occurred at the venue, and Mitsuki tried to save a foreign kid and got separated from them during the explosion.

The residents of the mansion were then informed that they hadn't been able to find her anywhere since then.

Theo: "On top of that, there's a kidnapping. It's getting a little creepy."

Vincent: "Does this mean Mitsuki is involved in this kidnapping? We have to go help her as soon as possible."

Vlad: "We'll definitely save Mitsuki. Along with the kid she saved and his clan, too."

Arthur and Dazai's eyes widened in surprise.

Dazai: "Heh. It looks like you're very fond of Toshiko-san."

Arthur: "I didn't expect a pureblood like you to care about the minority when it comes to saving the world."

Napoleon: "I'm not even going to try to tell you if your plans are right or wrong here."

Napoleon: "We are former humans. To you, it may look stupid for humans to fight endlessly, but with both stupidity and sorrow etched in our hearts, we have risked our lives for the sake of peace and for those we should protect."

Napoleon: "But isn't that the same for you?"

Faust: "In the first place, you will do whatever it takes to save Mitsuki. Isn't that right, Lord Vlad?"

He asked for his confirmation, and Vlad nodded as if it were a matter of course.

Dazai: "It's a strange fate, isn't it? Toshiko-san gave herself up to protect the child of a human and a vampire."

Each time Mitsuki was mentioned, the expression on everyone's face softened.

All of them had only one thing on their minds: unwavering determination.

Late at night, Comte and Vlad were standing shoulder to shoulder on the balcony.

Comte: "I never thought there was a Dhampir bloodline among humans."

The two of them remembered the lonely but beautiful scenes of their childhood.

Vlad: "She put her heart into those who were being showcased."

Vlad: "What Mitsuki says is always beautiful. Still, seeing her never give up makes me want to be close to her."

His crimson eyes reflected the stars as he looked up at the night sky.

Comte also looked up at the starry sky and smiled.

Comte: "It's strange. I never thought I'd see the day we'd join hands again in this way."

Comte: "Mitsuki really connected us."

Mitsuki tried her best to listen and understand both sides between Comte and Vlad as they kept confronting each other.

Comte: "Hey, Vlad. Is Mitsuki your own hope?"

Vlad: "Yeah."

Vlad: "She's the hope that kept me alive."

Comte: "I see. But why her?"

Vlad: "Ahaha. I think I'll keep that a secret."

Vlad: "But this time, I'm going to find her myself."

My consciousness gradually rises from sleep as the cold hard floor touches my cheek.

Mitsuki: "Mm...Huh? Where am I...?"

【Enchanted in the sweet labyrinth】

They saved the hostages from the black group and prevented Vlad from harming the humans.

At the same time, his ambition turns into a dream, and the relationship between the vampires changes.

Comte: "You suddenly sent us a letter saying we should have a tea party."

Comte: "Can't you do something about that impulse of yours? Vlad?"

Vlad: "Charles said he would make a lot of strawberry sweets, so I couldn't say no."

Faust: "Lord Vlad is a crazy strawberry maniac."

Charles: "I made something delicious. And I want Mitsuki to eat it. And of course, you guys too."

Charles: "You want to learn how to cook? Then how about we give you a cooking lesson?"

Shakespeare: "Charles, Jean is not just bad at it. He's so bad he could even blow up the kitchen."

Vlad gazes at the people chatting with a sense of wonder.

Vlad: "............."

Comte: "Come on, Vlad. Don't just stand there. Hold that one."

Vlad: "You're too rough with people."

Comte: "This kind of thing is called cooperation."

After they finish carrying the table together, Vlad looks up at the mansion.

The wind is blowing through the blue sky, ruffling the flowers in the garden and Vlad's silver hair.

Comte: "What are you thinking about, Vlad?"

Vlad: "Remember when I teased you about how big the mansion was? You replied these back then..."

Vlad: "Great men across countries and eras will come here. Together, they will live with us and get used to this new world."

Comte: "Are we going to be a family? I remember you laughing at me after asking me that."

Only the two of them know each other's memories.

Vlad: "Now that there are so many more residents, it's become quite lively."

Comte: "Maybe that's the kind of connection I was looking for with humans after all."

Vlad: "Whenever Mitsuki holds my hand, it makes me feel very warm in here."

Comte gazes at Vlad's profile as he gently puts his hand on his chest.

His friend once called a God since childhood, is now finally walking alongside him in this world.

While the tea party is in full swing, Vlad invites Mitsuki to join him.

Vlad: "Hey Mitsuki, will you show me around the garden?"

Vlad: "I want to take my time and look at the beautiful flowers. Will you join me?"

Mitsuki: "Sure!"

Comte watches them leave their seats, and Leonardo calls him playfully.

Leonardo: "Are you sure you want to leave Cara mia alone with Vlad?"

Comte: "It's nothing to get so worked up about. Vlad is nice to Mitsuki."

Leonardo: "I guess you ain't losing either. Or maybe you're done overprotecting Cara mia?"

Comte: "Look who's talking?"

They chuckle at each other and turn their attention to the garden.

In the distance, Vlad and Mitsuki are gazing at the flowers, pointing at them.

Vlad is probably teaching her the language of flowers one by one.

Comte: "Hey, Leonardo."

Leonardo: "Hm?"

Comte: "I still keep asking myself if I made the right choice."

To revive great men...

To seek eternity for man against the laws of life...

To wish for a flower that would never wither...

Comte: "I guess these hesitations are karma I'll have to carry with me for the rest of my life."

Comte: "So thank you for neither affirming nor denying."

Leonardo: "................"

Leonardo's eyes widen, and his smile deepens at the unexpected words from his friend.

Leonardo: "Ha! That's not something you should be thanking me for."

Leonardo: "Even purebloods treat humans differently."

Leonardo: "There's more than one way to love. That's all there is to it."

Whether it's regretting the fleeting life of humans and inviting them to eternity or drawing a line and watching over them, whatever choices one makes, love involves both suffering and joy.

After spouting one happy wonder and tipping his teacup, Comte stands up.

Comte: "Well, it's time to get Mitsuki back."

Leonardo: "Heh. I knew you were the most overprotective."

Vlad: "By the way, Mitsuki. I've been thinking. Maybe you should come to our castle after all."

Mitsuki: "Ehh?"

Vlad: "The flowers in this garden are beautiful, but I'm sure you're already bored after living in this mansion for so long now."

Comte: "Haha, what are you talking about, Vlad?"

Mitsuki: "Comte!"

Comte stands behind Mitsuki, smiling at Vlad as he seduces her.

Comte: "Mitsuki is already my family. So how can she get tired of being part of it?"

Vlad: "Then Mitsuki, how about you and I become more than family?"

Mitsuki: "More than family?"

Comte: "As the patriarch of this mansion, I can't simply accept that."

Vlad also smiles back at Comte, and silent sparks fly.

Leonardo: "Seriously, those two still didn't learn their lesson. Leave those little mocciosi alone, Cara mia."

Leonardo: "I'll take care of you, okay?"

When Leonardo approached Mitsuki, the two, who had been staring at each other with smiles on their faces, frowned slightly.

Vlad: "Wait. You can't be too careful here, Da Vinci."

Comte: "Why do vampires like Mitsuki so much?"

While the purebloods are engaging in their childish game, the others are making fun of them.

Shakespeare: "Oh? I was wondering where Mitsuki was, but it looks like those three took her away."

Faust: "Are all the pureblood geezers like this?"

Charles: "Count me in, Lord Vlad. If it's about seducing Mitsuki, I won't lose."

No one knows how much of it is a joke and how much of it is serious.

Mitsuki herself smiles at the three of them and simply enjoys the moment, unaware that she is the focus of the conversation.

Mitsuki: "Hehe, everyone is calling us. I'll make us a fresh pot of tea. Let's go!"

Leonardo: "Good grief, it's going to be hard to get out of this."

Comte: "Who will seduce Mitsuki? I guess it all depends on the fate that lies ahead."

Vlad: "Let's go then. Mitsuki…"

Vlad gently pulls Mitsuki's hand to join him, while Leonardo holds the opposite hand, and le Comte extends his hand toward Mitsuki.

Comte: "Sometimes I think about the past, the beautiful memories and the bitter ones, but maybe all of it was meant to lead us to where we are now."

Suddenly, Comte's words fall into the distant sky.

Leonardo: "Present, huh? I guess you're right. Even though we experience pain and sorrow, the joy still outweighs it."

Vlad: "People sometimes create miracles that change destiny. That's what I like about them."

Vlad: "Mitsuki made me realize that."

Vlad: "I wonder what kind of future awaits us in this world we're building with you."

Mitsuki gazes at the three of them, and her sparkling eyes, with her soft smile, are full of radiance.

Mitsuki: "What lies ahead must be…"

A destiny yet to be seen, a miracle yet to be performed, and unquenchable hope.

We will live in this world with the warmth of our connected hands.

【The World We're Walking With You】

Napoleon: "Vlad, you're not a god."

Napoleon: "This way, we can hold each other's hands."

Vlad: "..............."

Vlad and Napoleon held hands as Mitsuki gazed at them.

After recapturing Mitsuki and the others through their joint efforts, the vampires slowly worked their way back to each other after this night.

The Paris Expo is as vibrant as ever after the damaged buildings were repaired.

Vlad: "I think Halil and the others are around here."

One sunny day, the residents of the mansion, including Mitsuki, Shakespeare, and Vlad, all went to see the Expo.

Halil: "Sis!"

Mitsuki: "Halil, Ulfa!"

Mitsuki, spotting the siblings, rushed over to them with a big smile on her face.

Halil's tribe used to be fenced in like animals as a human exhibit, but now the fences are gone, and they are freely interacting with tourists.

Halil: "After this, we will perform a song and dance passed down in our tribe. Please come and watch!"

Mitsuki: "Sure, I'll be looking forward to it. Good luck!"

Vincent: "Can I sketch you guys? I love your costumes, and I want to keep a portrait of all of you."

Halil: "You can draw, big brother? That's amazing!"

Ulfa: "Please draw me pretty, okay?"

Ulfa tilted her head and asked with a timid smile, and Vincent nodded his head.

Sebastian: "It looks like there's a traffic jam of angels here."

Theo: "Look forward to it, boys, because broer's paintings are the most amazing in Paris―no, in the world."

Mitsuki and the others burst out laughing as Sebastian turned his gaze toward the sky, and Theo proudly puffed his chest out.

Onlooker 1: "Is it safe to talk to those people over there?"

Onlooker 2: "They could be savages from an uncivilized land."

Some onlookers threw rude comments and glances.

Isaac: "There are still people who say things like that."

Mozart: "Unfortunately, people don't change overnight."

Leonardo: "I guess they'll just have to get to know each other first slowly."

Theo: "And yet, this World's Fair is supposed to help people understand."

Everyone's face slightly darkened at the reality that things will not change easily.

Mitsuki: "Halil..."

Halil smiles a little sadly and assures Mitsuki that he's okay.

Then Napoleon stepped closer to him.

Napoleon: "Halil."

Halil: "Eh? Waah!"

Napoleon suddenly picked Halil up in his arms.

Napoleon: "There may be people who will throw harsh words at you as you go on with your life."

Napoleon: "You might also get turned away, but..."

Napoleon smiled just a little sadly.

Before his resurrection, he had lived a hard life as a military man.

Napoleon: "But that doesn't mean you are weak for enduring the suffering."

Napoleon: "Look up, keep your gaze high, and live courageously."

That was something he could tell because of the past he had carried with him.

Ulfa: "Wow, this is so cool!"

Ulfa happily squealed as Arthur picked her up.

Arthur: "Having fun? Then here's what we're going to do next!"

Ulfa's voice echoed around the place, brightening the atmosphere as Arthur spun her around in his arms.

The crowd of onlookers, who had been giving rude stares and whispering to each other, left and was replaced by smiling onlookers.

Mitsuki: "Hehe, Arthur is surprisingly good with kids."

Theo: "He's a former doctor, so it's only natural for him to be good at taking care of them."

Arthur: "Would you like me to spin you around too, Mitsuki?"

Mitsuki: "What?"

Arthur pulled Mitsuki's hand as she smiled hesitantly.

Then the tribe members began to play music, inviting them to join in the singing and dancing.

Isaac: "Everyone seems to be having fun."

Vincent: "It's a heartwarming scene, isn't it?"

Vincent opened his sketchbook and began to run his pencil across the paper―soon, the blank page was filled with smiling faces.

The sun was beginning to set, tinting the beautiful buildings with an orange hue.

The group said goodbye to Halil and the others after visiting the World's Fair and headed back home.

Mitsuki: "I had a really good time today! Too bad we have to leave now."

Isaac: "We should come back again. There are still some places we haven't seen yet."

Napoleon watched Mitsuki from behind as she smiled regretfully while saying she enjoyed herself on their way home.

Arthur: "Napoleon, are you aware that you're looking at Mitsuki so tenderly right now?"

Napoleon: "Oh? Really?"

Arthur: "Ahh. I guess you're my rival now."

Napoleon: "What's with that? For me, for us, Mitsuki is..."

Arthur: "She's more irreplaceable than anything else."

They exchange glances and reminisce about one particular moment.

Arthur: "Hey, why are you smiling so cutely?"

Mitsuki: "Hehe, I'm having so much fun today! And I'm smiling because of everyone."

Mitsuki's carefree smile and straightforward words tickled Napoleon and Arthur, and they naturally narrowed their eyes.

Arthur: "It's the same for us. We're smiling because you're here."

Arthur: "Right, Napoleon?"

Napoleon: "Yeah. That's right."

Napoleon: "You're more precious to us than anything else."

Mitsuki smiled and blinked her eyes as her cheeks turned slightly red.

The world around her becomes brightly colored by the petals dancing in the wind.

Mitsuki: "Thank you all for meeting me."

The smile Mitsuki showed today will forever be etched in everyone's heart like a treasure that gives them strength just by being there.

Napoleon: "It is a miracle that Mitsuki came to this world."

Napoleon: "No matter what happens in the future, I'll always protect her so she can keep smiling."

Arthur: "You're right."

Arthur: "She's a special lady who has been so close to our hearts for some time now."

Napoleon's emerald eyes gazed at Mitsuki with a will to protect her.

Arthur's glass-blue eyes also gazed at her tenderly.

May she, who is dearer to them than anyone else, keep smiling forever―with such wishes in their hearts, they stepped out into a new future.
