Varrick’s Name Means “Fire”

My last post was about Korra’s father Tonraq’s name means “Tiny Man” in Inuit language.

Then I did more research and find out that Varrick’s first name “Iknik” is very similar to the Inuit word “iqniq”, which means “Fire”.

Then I think of what he said here: (s04e12)

He had an ostrich horse when he was a boy.

We know that there’s no ostrich horse in water tribe (at least in my impression they live in warmer places like the Earth Kingdom or Fire Nation) .

So I guess maybe he or his parents might have some kind of relations with the Fire Nation that got him this name ?

(like one of his parents was form fire nation and he lived in there for a while when he was a child ? or something else like that )

(Or the writers of the show just came up with the idea that Varrick is just his last name we need to give him a first name for his wedding then searched for a Inuit name that sounds good)
