Super Fox

Pairing: Donghyuk (iKon) x GN!Reader; Genre: Hybrid AU, Shifter AU, Fluff, hints of angst; Rating: sfw, PG-15; Warnings: hints of danger towards hybrids within a human society; Wordcount: 433

Summary: Living in a society where you have to hide your animal traits, it is a relief to drive out into nature and simply be yourself together with the one you love.

A/N: The second cocktail I wrote for the tipsy drabbles this time! Also pleasing my current iKon obsession with this!! Please enjoy this!

Donghyuk tapped the steering wheel, humming along to the radio as he stared through the windshield screen.

Once a month he grabbed you and drove with you away from the bustling city. Even if it was just for one day - sometimes even just an afternoon - both of you needed that time to come back to your roots.

Roots that weren’t quite usual in the human world.

You tilted your head to the side and watched Donghyuk with a soft smile on your lips. His fox ears already popped out without him noticing it. They flicked in excitement the closer you got to the forest. You reached a hand over to them, brushing over the velvety fur of his ears.

Donghyuk laughed quietly and glanced over to your side. “Fox’s out of the bag, huh?” His ears flicked again underneath your touch.

You giggled and slightly turned on your seat, revealing your own fox tail. “Guess so.”

Donghyuk reached over to you, gently squeezing your thighs. “We’ll be there soon.” He intertwined fingers with yours, grinning when you started to play with them.

“I know”, you mumbled as you continued to caress his hand, “I just can’t wait to turn fully again.” You looked up at him, seeing him nod along.

In the city neither of you could just turn or even reveal parts of your foxes without fearing to become objects for science. Even at your shared apartment you rarely let parts of your foxes show - too concerned someone could see anything through the windows.

But outside in the mountains or forests, far away from major human gathering spots, you could be free.

Donghyuk parked the car at the start point of a hiking trail. He rushed around the vehicle and opened your door, making an overly inviting gesture.

You giggled and stepped out of the car as well, stretching your limps and letting your tail sway behind you. “Are you ready?” You looked around the area one last time, making sure no human was already there in the early hours of the day.

With a sly grin Donghyuk stepped closer to you and cupped your face. He kissed you softly, making you melt into him. “Let us race to the top”, he whispered against your lips, “loser has to buy fried chicken tonight.”

Before you could even respond to him, he had already transformed into a fox. He yipped at you and then dashed into the forest, leaving you behind. You giggled and shook your head in amusement. With one last roll of your shoulders you transformed yourself and chased after him.

Ikon concert in Paris was seriously crazy. It was everything I hoped for and more. They're really something else on stage and the crowd was so hyped and definitely here to party.

I got almost no videos because I was too busy enjoying myself, like most people actually. There were not so many cellphone people were dancing and vibing and that's kind of rare in concert those days.

My heart was so full for them, they were so happy with the response of the crowd. They didnt want to end the concert. Bobby kept adding songs to the encore, they played 4 or 5 songs more than planned. Jinhwan cried after the fan message.

And it might be silly given the context in France these days but it actually felt very good to be able to dance the night away and party for 3 hours. I'M thankfull for them for these beautiful memories. ❤️🖤

A ⇴ ATTENTION

If anything, Donghyuk arguably pays too much attention to you, he can’t help but know where you are when you’re with him. Even if you tell him that you’re alright, he’ll still make sure to check on you though.

B ⇴ BICKER

Most of the time the two of you will bicker when you mess around with one another and try to wind the other person up. Donghyuk especially will let you know that he’s in a good mood when he’s bickering with you, he won’t bite his tongue like he usually does, and will try and get some sort of reaction from you.

C ⇴ COMFORT

Seeing you upset is always a dilemma for Donghyuk as he never quite knows what to do. The one thing that he tries to focus on more than anything else is putting the smile back on your face, whether he needs to talk to you, do something silly, or just give you some space, Donghyuk will do whatever you need.

D ⇴ DISAGREEMENTS

You both can often feel as if you’re the one in the right which can lead to an argument or two between the two of you, but those disagreements never usually last long. Despite feeling as if you’re right, more than that the two of you are good at talking about how you’re feeling and explaining to the other why you both think that you’re right, whilst also understanding why the other feels that they’re right too.

E ⇴ EARLY YEARS

It surprised you both how quickly you got along with each other, although you were both pretty independent, you found yourselves depending quite a lot on one another. You weren’t sure if it was the role of the newbie or the fear of the unknown that pulled you towards Donghyuk, but for some reason you just felt settled by his side almost from the very start of when the two of you first met one another.

F ⇴ FAMILY

Donghyuk’s family were incredibly fond of you, they always appreciated how you were always there for him. He told them everything about you, especially all of the things that you did for him and the things that you helped Donghyuk with. Because of that, they couldn’t help but like you and always made sure to let you know how appreciative they were every time that Donghyuk told them something new.

G ⇴ GETTING TOGETHER

It depends on how much time you have usually whether the two of you go out or not, if you’re feeling lazy, you’ll just stay at home, but if you’ve got a full day together then you’ll make sure to go out somewhere and make a memory, especially when you’ve not been able to see each other much recently.

H ⇴ HABITS

The two of you have a habit of talking every day, even if you’re only able to text each other, you’ll catch up every single day without fail. Even if Donghyuk is away with work too, he’ll still never forget to text you, even if because of time zones too he has to wait a couple of hours for you to eventually reply to him.

I ⇴ INSIDE JOKES

Both of you have plenty of inside jokes because of how long you’ve been friends and the many things that you’ve seen together. You remember a lot of what happens when the two of you hang out as you’d experienced so many funny moments together that you wanted to make sure not to forget.

J ⇴ JEALOUSY

More than anything Donghyuk tries his best not to let any of your friends make him jealous, but it’s a tricky task for him. If someone gets particularly loud or in your face, then Donghyuk usually starts to overthink and panic a little bit. Once the two of you are by yourselves again, Donghyuk will definitely search for a little bit of reassurance from you as to who the person is and the role that they have in your life.

K ⇴ KICKS

Donghyuk got a kick out of spending time with you, that was the only real thing that mattered to him. He didn’t need anything else other than you to enjoy himself, even if you were just sat around, having you there as his best friend to talk to was by far the most important thing in Donghyuk’s opinion.

L ⇴ LOVE

He loved how you were up for anything and always wanting to make new memories with him. If Donghyuk suggested something or somewhere to you, you’d just about always say yes as you wanted to explore with him. He loved that even if he texted you last minute with some plans, you’d agree to hang out with Donghyuk if you were available and try something new again with Donghyuk once again.

M ⇴ MEETING

The two of you first met when you were both trainees at the company, starting at the exact same time together. On your first day you found yourself sat next to Donghyuk and everything just seemed to follow from there for you both, striking up a conversation and more importantly, introducing yourselves.

N ⇴ NONSENSE

Being around you naturally seemed to bring out Donghyuk’s nonsense side, he didn’t need to try at all to make it come out, there was just something about being with you that put him at complete ease.

O ⇴ OBSESSION

Donghyuk was obsessed with your sense of humour and how much you loved to joke and laugh with him. You two worked perfectly together when it came to laughing and just generally enjoying yourselves.

P ⇴ PRECIOUS MOMENTS

The moments that meant the most to Donghyuk were the moments when he’d catch your smile and be relieved to see that you were happy with him. He hated knowing that you were stressed or having a difficult time, so even if it was just for a moment, catching your smile was a massive relief to him.

Q ⇴ QUESTIONS

He loves to ask you if you’re free, if he can, Donghyuk will try and spend as much time with you as he possibly can. Even if you’re only free for a little while, that won’t matter to him, he’ll stop by at yours.

R ⇴ RANDOM FACTS

Because of how close the two of you are, your friendship has its own nickname amongst everyone else. Your friends and your colleagues alike all know how inseparable the two of you are, and so rather than refer to the two of you individually, it’s better to just refer to you both as one, as usually you can be found together.

S ⇴ SUPPORT

He never takes your support for granted, every time that you’re there, no matter how small of a part you play, Donghyuk makes sure to let you know how appreciative he is. No matter how many times you assure Donghyuk that you love supporting him, he still makes sure to let you know just how thankful he is.

T ⇴ TRIPS

If he has a little bit of time off in his schedule, Donghyuk will try his best to arrange somewhere to go and visit for you both, especially if you’ve barely been able to see each other because he’s been so busy.

U ⇴ ULTIMATE

Everyone knows how close the two of you are, and the response your friendship gets let him know how lucky Donghyuk is.

V ⇴ VISITS

He loves when you unexpectedly visit him, it’s always something that makes his stomach knot. It doesn’t matter how many times you do it either, it’s still a surprise that puts a huge smile on Donghyuk’s face.

W ⇴ WISDOM

Although he knows that he’s far from the best with advice, that doesn’t stop Donghyuk trying his best to advise you where he can.

X ⇴ XXXX

Both of you are playful whenever you’re around one another, you’re not afraid to poke Donghyuk and try and wind him up when you can, just like how he never turns down the chance to tickle you as well.

Y ⇴ YOU

You were his teammate; it was very rare for the two of you not to be together.

Z ⇴ ZZZ

Most of the time, Donghyuk will invite you to stay at his place as he loves having company at home. He’ll set a space for you to sleep up perfectly so that it makes you want to stay at Donghyuk’s more often too.
