BEST FRIEND iKon A⇴Z HEADCANON ⇴ Kim Jinhwan

A ⇴ ATTENTION

He cared too much not to pay attention to you, it was almost as if Jinhwan just couldn’t help it. He wanted to try and talk to other people, but it was tough for his mind to switch off from worrying about you.

B ⇴ BICKER

A bad mood would usually result in the two of you bickering as you tried to snap back at one another and let go of your frustrations. On the days when you wanted to push Jinhwan’s mood and annoy him you would start making a few comments to push his buttons which would ultimately lead to you bickering.

C ⇴ COMFORT

One of the best things about having Jinhwan was around was how understanding he always was towards you. He didn’t always get the situation that you were struggling with, but he tried his best to sympathise and make sure that he was there for you to confide in and open up to about what was wrong.

D ⇴ DISAGREEMENTS

Being able to figure out when Jinhwan disagrees with you is one of the easiest jobs for you, as his moods are usually transparent. You can tell straight away when you’re starting to annoy him, even though you don’t necessarily think that you’re being annoying. His expression usually stops any disagreements between you both as you know to stop talking rather than push Jinhwan’s mood even more.

E ⇴ EARLY YEARS

It took a little bit of time for you to get to know Jinhwan, for a while he was quite quiet around you as he got to know you too. He gave himself a bit of time to trust in the friendship that you were building, and once that guard came down, the noise got louder. It was almost like a switch, once Jinhwan got comfortable, all of a sudden, he was just constantly talking to you and discussing various things.

F ⇴ FAMILY

Jinhwan’s family loved having you round, they were constantly inviting you to all of the things that they arranged. You were definitely treated like an extended member of the family as you often found yourself showing up to family parties and events as if you were actually a member of the family. His parents would let you know the dates straight away, way before Jinhwan remembered to tell you.

G ⇴ GETTING TOGETHER

You both loved to just relax when you were with each other and use that time to just unwind and chill. You didn’t mind going out from time to time, but you both much preferred to just lay out on the sofa and watch either a movie or maybe catch up on a couple of episodes from the drama you’re watching.

H ⇴ HABITS

The two of you had a habit of being annoyed at the other person without them even knowing what they’d done wrong. You could accidentally say something that would wind Jinhwan up without knowing about it, and all of a sudden find him being snappy at you without any explanation as to why.

I ⇴ INSIDE JOKES

Both of you had the most inside jokes with each other, mainly because you felt at your most comfortable around each other. The ease at which you were both able to relax and just be yourselves meant that there were a few hiccups along the way which neither of you would forget for the other person.

J ⇴ JEALOUSY

There were definitely moments when Jinhwan would get a little jealous of your friends, mainly because there were so many of them which he found overwhelming. He was used to quite a small friendship group, and so when he met so many of your friends, he didn’t quite know what to do, instantly feeling a little bit threatened as it seemed like he had so many candidates who could replace him.

K ⇴ KICKS

Jinhwan gets a kick out of teasing you, especially when you’re pulling a face, usually whilst trying to make a point. He can’t help but mimic you quite a lot of the time as he knows that it gets a reaction out of you, usually you hitting against Jinhwan’s arm to stop him being silly and getting him to pay attention to you.

L ⇴ LOVE

He loved how well the two of you got on and how your time together never felt as if it was boring. Even if you were doing very little, you both felt happy just being around each other, but at the same time you loved to go out and explore too. You had a great balance in your friendship, you knew when to be loud and when to be quiet, and when to be up and on your feet, or sprawled out across the sofa.

M ⇴ MEETING

The two of you first met almost by accident when you bumped into one another at a café. It was almost coincidence that the very next day Jinhwan was there again, unable to just pass you by as he recognised you, asking if you were the one that he bumped into the day before, buying you an apology drink too.

N ⇴ NONSENSE

Not many people got to see Jinhwan completely as himself, so you felt incredibly lucky to be one of just a few that did. He didn’t care around you, he was just able to let go and do whatever felt right to him.

O ⇴ OBSESSION

Jinhwan was obsessed with your smile, it was something that comforted him a lot. He loved when he could see your smile as it was almost a sign for him to let him know that you were right there for him.

P ⇴ PRECIOUS MOMENTS

The times that mean the most to Jinhwan are the moments when you can just sit down and put your feet up. He loves the moments when the two of you are able to just relax, things like sitting down in a coffee shop with a drink and a chance to just catch up with one another are the times that he’s fond of.

Q ⇴ QUESTIONS

You constantly find yourself having to ask Jinhwan if he wants help as he stubbornly tries to do something alone. You can tell when he’s struggling long before he wants to admit that he’s struggling.

R ⇴ RANDOM FACTS

One of the things that Jinhwan tried to do when you were together was pay for everything, he hated when you spent your money on him. He would push his way to the card machine whenever you were together and had even gone as far as to hide your wallet to stop you from paying for things before too.

S ⇴ SUPPORT

As much as he loves when you support him, Jinhwan tries his best to support you much more. He’ll often try and organise his schedule around what it is that you’re doing with work in order to be there for you, trying his best to surprise you too whenever he has the time to be able to go and cheer for you.

T ⇴ TRIPS

If there was one place that Jinhwan always wanted to take you, then it was the Philippines. One day he knew when your schedules allowed for it that he’d take you there and show you where he spent some of his time.

U ⇴ ULTIMATE

He knew that being your best friend was an important role, and it was a job that Jinhwan always did as well as he could.

V ⇴ VISITS

One of Jinhwan’s favourite things to do was surprise you, celebrations were a particular favourite of his. He loved to get creative for things like your birthday and surprise you with the best party when you stopped by.

W ⇴ WISDOM

It doesn’t matter how busy he is, when Jinhwan knows that you need a bit of advice, then he’ll always be there to give you some.

X ⇴ XXXX

Neither of you are particularly affectionate with one another, because at the start of your relationship you were quite distant, that seemed to just carry on even though your bond became stronger.

Y ⇴ YOU

You were his favourite, Jinhwan always had you at the top of his list.

Z ⇴ ZZZ

Most of the time Jinhwan will try and stay at your place when the two of you hang out so that he can make the most of peace and quiet for a little while, especially when his sleep has been a little restless for a while.

Can you elaborate onthe "lack of childhood" though? Sure he had the trauma from when he was abducted, then abducted again by the cult, but him growing up with his mortal family + those years with Marius (and especially since he remembers his early memories), I wouldn't say that's a -complete- lack of childhood lol. I'd say more of having to care for others from an early age (I'm including Marius here too, affectionately, the man was a mess back then)?

These are great points!!!!!!!!!

I have three basic concepts I want to submit here, and your mileage may vary! Some of this goes into headcanon territory so we might land in different places. My questions are:

If you had a good childhood that you can’t really remember, does it count?

Can a young person sincerely be that pious without it being manipulative?

What age does Armand’s “childhood” end when he’s abducted at 14, at the oldest?

We don’t get a ton of information about his life before he was abducted and part of that is because he’s so traumatized that he doesn’t remember—a mega Capital T Trauma happening as a young teen I think informs “childhood”. I cede your point because I think a lot of people think of “childhood” as more early childhood, and especially in the historical context of kids growing up faster, we don’t know that much about his early childhood. When he goes back to visit with Marius he talks a bit about remembering his uncle’s singing and stuff, so we have that clue that his family did things together.

But we also have stuff like

I stood with my head bowed. I let my temple rest against the mud. I wished to find the boy, so pure of soul, who had opened these cells to bring the hermits just enough food and drink to keep them alive. But I couldn't find the boy. I couldn't. And I felt only a raging pity for him that he had ever suffered here, thin and miserable, and desperate, and ignorant, oh, so terribly ignorant, having but one sensuous joy in life and that was to see the colors of the ikon catch fire.

He also immediately shows up and refers to his family as “filthy peasants”.

And it seemed I understood more viscerally than ever the atmosphere of purposeful gloom which had overhung my childhood in far-off Kiev. I saw again the muddy catacombs, and the half-buried monks who had cheered me on to become one of them.

So I’m admittedly really skeptical about most religions LOL but this entire book is Armand struggling with his religious trauma and like, when you think about it, cave monks aren’t like. Very typical?

When he says stuff like “purposeful gloom” and “cheered me on to become one of them” I can’t imagine a situation where this isn’t coercive on their part, that he wasn't being manipulated and groomed into a cult. And his father didn’t want him to join them; the cult was pulling Armand away from his family and life. And he mentions that the monks are all starving and cold like, it’s not like this was some glamourous life he could’ve lived where they were saving him.

He says:

I looked back at my scholarly brethren.

All were emaciated, dressed in cheap black wool, reeking of old sweat and dirt, and their heads were all but shaved. Their long beards were thin and uncombed. I thought I knew one of them, had loved him somewhat even, but this seemed remote and not worth considering anymore.

To Marius, who stood beside me as faithfully as a shadow, I confided that I could not have endured it, but we both knew this was a lie. In all likelihood I would have endured it, and I would have died without ever knowing any other world.

And like fandom can debate all day and night about like the historical context of Armand’s age, and whether or not he was a child when he lived with Marius, but I think a lot about how his indoctrination into the Children of Darkness wasn’t simply him being brainwashed, it was his relapse. So when you look at the timeline of his life, if you think of like, say 300ish years with a cult, does he fold that tiny blip of time with Marius into his “childhood” ? idk.

But yeah I think like, to put a finer point on it aside from “lack of childhood” what we really mean when we say that is like, some kids go through traumas that force them to grow up quickly, and for a lot of kids it comes with parentification. Like, it’s enough that Armand was a hungry peasant in a cold climate, was (possibly) groomed by a cult, and then abducted and trafficked. But I wonder what Marius did to him too when it comes to like, the emotional support he needed and how he used Armand as balm to his own loneliness, all the while not allowing Armand to have his own emotional needs.

People kept stealing him and it makes sense that he might find a place in that world, and become a leader. It feels like the end result of a long series of events of having to put others’ needs ahead of his own, and also a way for him to have some semblance of control in the situation he’s been thrust into. So I think I when I say “lack of childhood” I’m really just gesturing wildly at All This Stuff and how it connects and relates to itself in the end.

His time with the Children of Darkness is a coming home of sorts; he still winds up pious and underground, and it’s like his whole life he keeps trying to climb his way out of it and always gets dragged back down. Like I think even his suicide attempt fits this as a relapse into religious crisis. He was doing so good!!!!!!!! ☹ Sigh.

And the thing about it, and reaching out more broadly to this concept of VAMPIRE THERAPY LOL is like, a lot of times children grow up thinking their world is normal, or a default, and the work we put in as adults is unlearning that idea and coming to terms with that fact that something was wrong. Armand might not have been traumatized by being cold and hungry and ready to bury himself in a cave but when it's time to dismantle all that stuff I think it's important to make space for it. And even saying like, the concept of Armand going to therapy is silly hahaha so maybe it's not literal, but, I think it's still reaching the same idea if you ask him to grow as a person, to connect with Daniel and reevaluate his feelings about mortality and humanity, to care for Benji & Sybelle, to create Trinity Gate and get back together with Louis in a new way. All of this marks growth that he got to have.

So returning to my original point LOL, I always look at the way he’s built Trinity Gate as a safe haven, landing spot, and how trauma can be so deeply tangled in us that it’s like, how much of this is me and how much is the trauma, when does the trauma end and my personality begin, etc, and like. The truth is that sometimes you have to be patient and accept that it IS part of you, and you can try to be healthy and productive and kind to yourself without simply exorcising all the bad parts. For Armand it can be: "I created Trinity Gate as a safe haven for my friends & family out of love and it also feels like a burden sometimes."

i feel like isagi, kunigami, nagi, and reo would be lowkey kpop stan’s but they’d be the type to have grown up with it y’know? (kunigami most def has bc he has sisters, i bet you they went crazy with u-kiss, BAP, infinite, etc.. ) they love the classic older popular groups like big bang and exo, (and the groups i mentioned) they dabble in 3rd gen more than 4th gen so they were all bts stans before they got popular LOL, they can get into the 4th gen tho! hiya! i’ve been rping for a very long time, since 2014 or so but i’ve been sort of rusty this past year due to taking a break for life. that being said, i’m 25+ and of age, operating in central tz looking for new rp partners to write with on discord. 🙈

i like universe building. we can have a few main ships but if we can incorporate our muses into their plot lines, that would be amazing. for main ships, i do prefer f/m just because i’m more comfortable with that.

i prefer slice of life but wouldn’t mind doing au verses on the side.

someone that i can discuss headcanons and create moodboards with would be AMAZING.

multi paras are my main mode of writing. i’m not very good in retaining one liner conversations and if they are something shorter, i prefer a script.

most of my faceclaims will be 25+ since i stan mostly 3rd gen idols. my go to fcs are monsta x, sana, chungha, red velvet, ikon and hanbin (b.i), bona. i also like using actors!

☕️ + armand's relationship with art

Oof, this is a heavy one.

Clearly he enjoys art, after all, Daniel's rooms in Night Island were filled with the works of the old masters. But I think the type of art will always be a complex issue for him, and when it comes to making art himself?

It's a catalyst for traumatic flashbacks but I think he really needs to do it. He needs to push through that pain, process those difficult feelings about god, and reclaim his ability to be creative. Otherwise those issues will fester inside him forever and never be resolved. If he had a creative outlet I think he'd find himself a lot less numb.

I also think certain styles of art will forever be an odd trigger for him. Like Daniel would pick up that at all their times at museums Armand always avoided the medieval wing with its gilded ikons (something he mentions to Louis and Louis corroborates, because he noticed it on their early 20th century travels too). He'll never go into an old school orthodox church. Baroque churches, even a good proper gothic medieval church he can enjoy but he can't be at ease under Byzantine style paintings of saints.

My personal headcanon is that he likes 18th century art a great deal, because when he came out of the catacombs those works were so glorious to his eyes. Boucher. Fragonard. Even Hogarth, for how funny the characters in his scenes were. The portraits of Gainsborough, so light and playful compared to the heavy feeling of portraits of his youth. Vigee Le Brun, whose ladies remind him so much of Bianca.

With Louis he saw Madame X (and did not understand the commotion about her bared shoulder at all, for she was so elegant and poised) and dove full force into the diverging styles of the early 2oth century. His sensory abilities make works of the impressionists either a delight or a source of distress- the pointillism of Seurat, delightful. Monet's soft gardens, very pleasant. Some of Van Gogh's works? Difficult, depending on his mood. Sometimes they're psychedelic, others, a headache.

But in general he'd find merit in all styles of art, even the ones he personally does not understand.

Oh- and lover's eyes, those little pocket sized paintings of the 19th century. He has one of those for every person he has known and loved, stored in a secret cabinet in Trinity Gate. The day he commissioned Marius to make one of Daniel, that glacier between the two of them melted just a little.

BACKGROUND/HEADCANONS.

William Han-McGowan nasceu em berço de ouro, mas queria muito mais do que dinheiro. Sempre gostou de chamar atenção e sonhava em ser cantor desde criança, quando via sua mãe ser fã de boybands como Backstreet Boys e N’Sync. No início da adolescência pensava que precisava aprender a disfarçar seu sotaque escocês e ir para os Estados Unidos tentar a sorte, mas mudou de ideia quando a segunda geração do k-pop começou a surgir. Era aquilo que ele queria: a estética exagerada, as músicas barulhentas, os clipes super produzidos.

Se mudou para a Coreia aos treze anos, para estudar em escolas privadas conceituadas, estudar música e dança e tentar entrar em uma agência. Sua irmã também foi com ele e os dois moravam juntos numa casa grande e luxuosa, sendo criados por uma governanta enquanto os pais continuavam seus negócios em Glasgow.

Chamou atenção da Starship Entertainment em uma audição e aos 15 anos se tornou trainee da empresa. Debutou no 2U aos 17 anos, logo sendo engolido pela fama avassaladora que chegou tão rápido. Seu primeiro stage name foi BILLY P$YCHO, acompanhado por um conceito que o mostrava como um rapaz bastante desequilibrado. Com a queda do grupo, ele ficou perdido e sem saber o que fazer. Vivia de desperdiçar dinheiro e se entorpecer, até a quebra de contrato. Sob a empresa formada pelos membros do grupo, ele debutou como solo, usando o mesmo stage name, e alcançou algum sucesso principalmente na comunidade do K Hip-Hop. Sua música remetia muito à imagem de desequilíbrio, vícios e rebeldia.

Foi nessa época que decidiu fazer uma faculdade de terapia ocupacional, em parte para se livrar dos próprios vícios. Formou-se em 2017, bem em meio à época da crise financeira de sua label. Ainda lançou algumas coisas, mas com a falência veio um longo período de depressão. Billy tentou se dedicar mais à carreira na saúde, deu um pause nas festas que costumava dar, entrou secretamente numa clínica de reabilitação, onde abandonou as bebidas e drogas recreativas.

Com a assinatura do contrato com a VENTURA, ele redebutou com o stage name BILL$, com um conceito um pouco mais diversificado. Gosta de experimentar em suas canções e já falou algumas vezes sobre como hoje em dia considera seu antigo nome problemático. Continua festeiro, porém agora dá as festas em sua casa, uma mansão discreta e afastada do centro de Seoul. Mesmo com ele estando limpo, as festas às vezes passam dos limites. Como preza por sua imagem, é muito importante para ele que essas festas fiquem em segredo, afinal, para a mídia ele abandonou aquela fase tão rebelde.

A ⇴ ATTENTION

He cared about you a lot, and so Jiwon wasn’t afraid to admit that when you were around, he’d try his best to pay attention to you, listen to what you were saying and pick up on anything that didn’t seem right.

B ⇴ BICKER

You were definitely the one out of the two of you that tried to bicker more, Jiwon would try and ignore you and not give you what you wanted, but usually you’d end up getting to Jiwon so much that he’d end up being left with no choice but to bicker back across to you in the hope that it would shut you up.

C ⇴ COMFORT

He was always there for you, no matter how worried Jiwon became whenever he could tell that you were upset. There would be a moment of panic in him when he could tell that something had got to you, however once he was composed, he’d remind himself that you needed him more than he needed to fret.

D ⇴ DISAGREEMENTS

Neither of you disagreed much, you tended to agree on most things. The majority of your arguments though came from you both wanting to please the other person and do what they wanted to do. You often wanted to do what Jiwon wanted to do, but he also wanted to do what you wanted to do as well, and so you’d find yourselves arguing with each other to try and make the other person happier than you were.

E ⇴ EARLY YEARS

You were a little apprehensive around Jiwon when you first met, however when you saw him around other people and how bright he was, you knew that he was going to be someone that you’d get along with. It took a bit of time for the two of you to talk without having those awkward moments in between topics of conversation, but once you figured it all out, you soon found yourselves chatting endlessly.

F ⇴ FAMILY

Jiwon’s family took great care of you, even when Jiwon wasn’t around, they liked to be there for you. When Jiwon was on the road, they’d often invite you round for dinner or something so that they could see you and how you were as Jiwon wasn’t around to do so. They did it mostly because Jiwon told them too, always making his family promise to look after you whenever he wasn’t able to do so.

G ⇴ GETTING TOGETHER

You both were very cautious whenever you went out, most of the time you ended up deciding to stay in where you had some privacy. Jiwon didn’t mind going out if you wanted to, but he’d always offer to drive you both there or map out the route that was the quietest to make sure that you didn’t run into any trouble.

H ⇴ HABITS

The two of you had a habit of knowing exactly what the other person was going to say. You liked to think that you knew Jiwon like the back of your hand, and he liked to think the same about you too and so you always tried to guess what was going to be said, and usually you ended up getting it right too.

I ⇴ INSIDE JOKES

Both of you were relaxed the most with each other, and so you were the person for the other who they had the most inside jokes with too. You weren’t quite sure how many you ended up with over the years, but usually if you remembered an inside joke, it would be one that you shared with Jiwon more than anyone else.

J ⇴ JEALOUSY

Although he tended to control the mood at the best of times, Jiwon would often get just a little bit louder whenever he was feeling jealous. His voice would get a little noisier in the hope that it would hold your attention a little more and equally silence the others who were around you too. He’d stubbornly deny doing it once the two of you were alone, but you always knew exactly what Jiwon was like.

K ⇴ KICKS

Jiwon got a kick out of winding you up, he loved teasing you and snapping at you until you bit back. You did the exact same with him too, messing around and pushing each other until you got what you wanted was something that happened between the two of you just about every time that you hung out together.

L ⇴ LOVE

He loved how you were always there for him; nothing was ever too much trouble. If it was the middle of the night, Jiwon could call and know that you would answer, or if he was on the other side of the city, Jiwon knew that you would find a way to get to him. Having you there was a huge relief for Jiwon more than anything else because he knew that even if you weren’t right by his side, he was never actually alone.

M ⇴ MEETING

The two of you first met just before Jiwon debuted when you were working as a member of staff at the company. It was more of an accidental meeting than anything else when Jiwon knocked you as he walked past you, only to find out the next day that you were going to be working with him for a little while.

N ⇴ NONSENSE

His guard comes down around you all the time, you never get much of the serious side of Jiwon. Instead, you get the fun side, the side that doesn’t care about a thing in the world and does whatever he wants to do.

O ⇴ OBSESSION

Jiwon was obsessed with your character, you ticked so many of the boxes that he always wanted to be filled in a best friend, more than he ever thought someone in his life would ever actually be able to.

P ⇴ PRECIOUS MOMENTS

He loved seeing you with his family, how well you got along with them was something that meant a great deal to Jiwon. There was very little that he enjoyed more than just being able to sit back and watch you interact with his family, with Jiwon’s eyes especially drawn to the smiles that were on everyone’s faces.

Confiding in you is something that Jiwon does a lot, although he smiles around others, he’ll come to you for advice and ask you if you can help him out whenever he’s not quite sure what he wants to do.

Stored on his memory drive where no one else could find them, Jiwon had several drafts of raps saved that he had written about you. They were personal to him and shared things that he didn’t quite feel prepared to share with other people yet, especially as he liked to keep your friendship as something private.

Although he didn’t always express himself as he wanted, your support meant a lot to Jiwon. Above all else he loved that you always knew the right thing to say to get him motivated and feeling himself before he went on stage or cheer him up when he came off stage feeling as though he could’ve done a little better.

If he knew that you had some free time when he was on the road, Jiwon would find a way to bring you along with him so that he could take you to some new places and also get to explore around with you.

More than anything else Jiwon was appreciative of you and the many years that he’d had with you as his best friend by his side.

If he was around and nearby to your place, Jiwon would always stop by. If you weren’t in when he expected you to be, he’d be ringing you straight away and seeing where you were to make sure that you were alright.

a/n : if anyone's wondering why bobby's not included, i don't write for him in cases where he has a romantic relationship with the reader ( pretty sure i wrote that in my rules? but i still prefer to say it here in case of a misunderstanding )

Jay :

· Oh darling, you must have a death wish to try to run away from him – he has hidden cameras all around the house, alarms warning him about your presence outside your room

· So the moment you finally step out of the house, you're quickly met with Jay's angry gaze, the male pushing you right back inside

· "My love, did I not warn you about leaving your room? Sigh. It's almost like you want to make me mad, hm?"

· It's okay if you forgot the rules that he clearly told you about – he's happy to remind you that you will never leave him, no matter how hard you try. You're his and nothing will ever change that

Song :

· He was occupied by cooking dinner for you when he heard a glass shattering in your room – leaving everything behind, he rushed to your rescue

· But when he entered your room, it was empty. You were gone, only glass shards from the broken window laying around on the wooden floor

· Wasting no time, he jumped through the window and spotted you, starting to run after you straight away

· Hanbin decided to come home early from work to surprise you – but instead, what he saw when he came home gave him quite the surprise

· "..Baby? What are you..? Shit. You're not trying to leave me.. right?"

· He'll lock you up in your room for God knows how long, and don't think that you'll be getting his trust back anytime soon after betraying him

DK :

· When he saw that the door was left wide open when he came home, he was furious – you dare leave him?

· He gave you the benefit of his trust and this is how you betray him? By running away? Donghyuk will make sure that you'll regret it

· Thankfully, the male never mentioned about the tracking GPS chips put into your clothes, letting him find you almost too easily

· "Now, baby, you'll either be good and nicely come back home with me or I'll drag you there by force. Pick your poison."

June :

· Angry isn't a good word to describe his feelings – he's enraged, his hands automatically turning into tight fists once he sees you impatiently trying to lockpick the door
