Totally optional, fun Gallavich questions ☀️🌙
thanks for tagging me to the coolest person @callivich 💖
What’s a fic you’ve read more than once? i havent read that many gallavich fanfics since i watched the show in like april BUT im loving Africa and ill probably read it once it's finished
What’s a gifset you always have to reblog? s7 gifsets are really person to me but also maybe s10 and s11 because they reached the peak of softness
What’s a headcanon you can’t stop thinking about? maybe that ian would tell mickey "i told you so" when they become parents and mickey turns out to be an absolute incredible dad that will play, sing, dance anything with his children.
What’s a fanart you love looking at? maybe @gallavichonly @heymrspatel and i accept recommendations btw id love to see more fanart
What’s an idea you’d love to create if you had the time/inspiration? id probably write like a series of one shots based on taylor swift songs
What’s something you’ve discovered since entering this fandom? A new trope you love? A different analysis of the show? Something else? i think that not judging characters, like always be aware of their circumstances and what made them do or say that and that might not justify them but it explains their thought process, it explains why and gives them some sort of humanity to their mistakes idk if this makes sense but yeah that, don't judge a character too soon, try to understand them.
What’s an underrated trope or concept you’d like to see more of? the secret dating, we know they secretly dated and stuff but i feel like it's actually a really fun concept to play with despite their circumstances in the show, it gives you so many possibilities.
What’s your favourite season? And has this changed after multiple rewatches of the show? the early seasons have special place in my heart, so s4-5 and i think gallavich totally saved s7, i love that part of the season
What’s a plot hole you wish had been answered or resolved? i would've loved to see ian healing from the grooming and realizing it was grooming, it would've been nice for the character to heal old wounds and start fresh a new life with mickey in a new neighborhood ready to create new memories
What scene or moment do you feel isn’t discussed enough? the just wondering if we're a couple or not scene, we definitely should discuss more the fact that mickey answered too quickly, he absolutely had been calling ian boyfriend in his head
What line/dialogue/description from something else (a poem, a book, a tv show, a movie, or something else) do you feel describes Ian and Mickey’s relationship? im gonna quote noel fisher and as he said: "Ian's been that kind of guiding angel for Mickey so he's going to have to turn into a pretty much kind of a protective angel for Ian"
What do you think is next for Ian and Mickey post-finale? i think they're gonna learn to communicate even more, they were in really good path already. i think the writers didn't have much faith in them in that aspect but the conversation they have in s11 about going back or not to the new neighborhood made evident that they can communicate, they listen to each other and understand the reasons, each other's feelings. so yeah, i think they're gonna get even better at that and also they're not gonna wait that much to become parents. i think they eventually will find new jobs, ian will have his tomatoes and mickey will adore looking at him doing his thing every sunday morning. i really really think they finally found their peace, their home and are gonna be very very happy and disgustingly in love forever because they're also hopeless romantic and want that so bad.
im gonna tag a few people and as always feel free to do it or not <3 @lupeloto @mikhailoisbaby @mickeysgaymom @redwiccanrobin @lyricailove @energievie @depressedstressedlemonzest @juliakayyy

A Warm Welcome
Caranthir x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Request: Good morning !! First of all, Congrats for your 100 followers 🎊🎊 And second, can I request a fic or headcanon (the one your more comfortable writing for) about Caranthir introducing his lover to his brothers (and parents if you want too)??? Thanks and congrats again !!!🎉🎉 - anon
A/N: Thank you anon. I do hope you can forgive me for writing a lot more than you probably wanted. My hands and mind took a trip. Feanor isn't included because I didn't know how to introduce him properly. I had fun writing this.
Warnings: fluff, Celegorm and Curufin teasing their brother and being a dick, lots of teasing.
Word Count: 2k
Synopsis: A first-time visit to the House of Feanor.
Tumblr media
“Are you sure you want to go through with this? It’s not too late to decline…”
“Cara, we’re standing before the house, I am sure they already saw us so we cannot leave.”
“I don’t see why we cannot – ” at that moment, the front door swung open to reveal Caranthir’s eldest brother, Maedhros, clad in red and gold. On his face, he wore an open smile and was ready to welcome you with open arms. Unfortunately, he was standing behind the door listening to yours and Caranthir’s conversation about departing early and he was not having any of it, after all, it was he and Maglor who decided to host the dinner for you.
“ – you are not leaving, not when they are ready and excited to meet us. You ought to know better háno. Now, allow your beloved to enter the house.” At his words, Caranthir scowled and grumbled under his breath about ‘still making a run for it’ as he stepped aside to guide you into the house.
As you entered, you could not help but laugh at the grumpy look adorning your lover's face and the mischievous look his eldest brother cast. Removing your shoes at the door, you heard a melodious voice calling out to Maedhros before the voice revealed itself. Rounding the corner, you saw the familiar face of his brother, Maglor walking briskly to greet you.
“It’s wonderful to finally meet with you Y/N, we’ve heard a great deal about you.” Maglor was practically beaming at you excitedly. Of his brothers, he was perhaps the most pleased to learn that his younger brother was courting after using his advice. Now he knew what his advice was capable of.
“I’m pleased to meet you as well Maglor. I do hope it was good things you heard about me and nothing ill-mannered.”
At your words, all three brothers were quick to shout their response at you, reassuring you that no ill words were ever spoken about you and only good. Smiling at the gesture, you turned your head to gaze lovingly at Caranthir for speaking openly about you, especially when he told you about wanting to keep everything private. Your actions didn’t go unnoticed by Maedhros and Maglor who exchanged smug looks between each other, pleased with the fruits of their hard work.
“Well then, I think it best you get settled in and ready for dinner. The rest of them would be down in a few minutes, so you should have enough time to prep.” Maedhros held his hand out to guide you into the dining room and stepped back to let you take the lead. Maglor followed behind you and lastly were Caranthir and Maedhros. Taking the opportunity presented, Maedhros didn’t hesitate to throw his arm around his brother and pull him in for a one-sided hug and gentle punch to his shoulder.
“Congratulation háno, they seem nice.”
Throwing Maedhros an exasperated gasp and a displeased look, he rolled his eyes and threw his arm off his shoulder to catch up with you. Grinning widely, Maedhros shook his head at his brother’s antics not failing to miss the growing blush spreading across his cheeks.
Entering the dining room, Caranthir saw his mother and you conversing. Her arms were on either side of your shoulders and she was smiling while whispering something funny which made you chuckle. Walking briskly to your side, his mother didn’t fail to notice him and held her hand out for him to stand closer to you.
“My son has spoken so much about you and now I finally get to meet the person who makes him smile so much.” At her words, her right hand came up to brush his cheeks tenderly. His mother was the one person who he would never grumble at when it came to acts of affection. Casting his eyes aside and biting his lip to hold back his smile, Nerdanel dropped her hand to pat his shoulders and tugged you into the kitchen to have a talk.
“We’ll be in the kitchen, in the meantime, set the dinner table please boys.”
With her hand still in yours, she gingerly pulled you along the hallway and into the kitchen where you sat on a chair. Sitting there as you watched her busied herself with making tea, you were internally questioning yourself if she was about to tell you to leave her son because if so, then what she displayed outside was a façade – a good one.
“Here you go, dear. You look a bit tense, is everything alright?” She had cocked her head to the side questioningly with a motherly look in her eyes.
“Uh – um, yes, I-I’m fine. I’m good.” You spoke nervously with a chuckle at the end of your response, but Nerdanel was able to see right through it.
“I’m not going to scold you or anything of the sort. I only want to thank you for being in my son’s life.” She stepped closer to you and outstretched her hand to offer you a cup of tea. “He won’t tell you, but as a mother, I always saw the way he looked at his brothers when they attracted people. I could tell that he was displeased about never being able to have someone in his life due to his temper, but then you came along.”
“Me?”
“Yes, you. I noticed a difference in his behaviour early but wasn’t quick to say anything until he approached me for help to confess and I just knew I was right. I haven’t seen him this happy in years and you help bring out his inner shell. I am thankful. You are a good person for him, love.”
Sitting there and absorbing all her words, you felt tears springing at the corners of your eyes. Trying to rapidly blink them away, you hung your head and shook it to be rid of them. All the while, Nerdanel was standing before you with a motherly smile on her face and watching your tearful reaction to her kind words. Stepping closer until she stood directly before you, her hands outstretched to hold your hands and pull you upright so she could give you a hug.
Burying your face into her shoulders as you shed tears, her hands came up to stroke your head lovingly. Soft whispers were murmured into your ear as she held you.
“I meant every word love. Know that.”
As you and Nerdanel were having a moment in the kitchen, Caranthir, Maglor and Maedhros were busy setting the table and chatting away, minus Caranthir who was straining his ears to hear anything from the kitchen. This earned him having napkins being thrown at him to hurry up and focus because should Nerdanel return and the table wasn’t set, she wasn’t going to be pleased. But Caranthir couldn’t help but scowl and grumble as his brothers teased him for his worries. He wanted to know what you both were busy discussing in the kitchen.
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t our little háno all dress up prettily. Don’t you look like a princess Moryo? All you're missing is a bow atop your head.” This snarky comment came from none other than Celegorm and behind him stood Curufin with a smirk plastered across his face. The twins Amrod and Amras were standing behind Curufin with mischievous grins on their faces knowing what was about to happen next.
“Come now Tyelko, this isn’t the moment to tease him, we have an important guest over and ammë is right in the kitchen. So, she’ll overhear.” Maglor had just finished placing the floral arrangement on the table and stepped closer to Celegorm to speak clearly.
“Ah yes, your lover is here visiting us. How lovely.” Chuckling his own words, Celegorm cast his feral grin toward Caranthir in an attempt to rile him up before the dinner began and he successfully did so because he was ready to lunge.
Stepping between them both, Maedhros placed his hand firmly on Caranthir’s chest and urged him to settle down, “Calm down the both of you. Y/N is here meeting us for the first time, so whatever problem you have going on, I suggest you deal with it another time. Furthermore, ammë is coming soon, so behave.”
At the end of his command, the kitchen door was heard being opened and footsteps followed in the direction of the dining room. Dispersing as though a brawl was not about to break out, everyone had taken their seats at the table. It didn’t take long for you and Nerdanel to enter the room with the trays of food in your hands. Upon seeing you both struggling, Maedhros and Caranthir rushed to assist and allow you to return for the rest.
It didn’t take long for the food to adorn the table and for everyone to be invested in conversing with you. The twins were the most eager to question you and mostly on what made you choose their brother. You could tell that they were intentionally teasing their brother from the way their eyes would dance across when the question was asked. A few times Caranthir’s chair scraped against the wooden floors as if he were to fly out of his seat for their questions.
“What made you choose our brother? Aren’t you afraid of him being angry all the time?” Amrod was leaning over his food as he wiggled his brows.
“Umm…uh – it was fate,” you stopped eating to look over at Caranthir to see him staring back at you, “it was fate that brought us together and I would not have it any other way. I could not have asked for a better person, plus his anger doesn’t bother me.”
Everyone at the table had gone quiet, even Nerdanel had stopped eating to observe her son turning red with every passing second. Lowering his head, Caranthir avoided eye contact with everyone and remained quiet as the blush spread across his ruddy face. When he couldn’t take it anymore due to feeling everyone staring at him, he dropped his head to face his lap directly. At the bashful action, Celegorm couldn’t help but release a peal of boisterous laughter that ricocheted off the walls. Everyone had jumped in their seats at the sound.
“Couldn’t this night get any better? Still Y/N, it isn’t a trait anyone would want in a lover…” He ended his statement in a matter-of-fact tone with a shrug of his shoulders. Supporting his statement, Curufin hummed in agreement as he reached for his glass of wine to sip.
Silence fell upon the room as all eyes flashed to Celegorm. You were obviously hurt by the comment, and you could imagine how disturbed Caranthir was feeling now that everyone was teasing him. Taking a deep breath to respond to Celegorm’s words, you were beaten by Nerdanel who was casting her son a harsh glare that read 'apologize'. Still wanting to make your thoughts clear, you cleared your throat and spoke up.
“You know Celegorm, I’ve heard a lot about you as well when it comes to your behaviour and I’m sure your brothers wouldn’t judge you if you had a lover. They’d be happy for you, so just because your brother has found happiness, doesn’t mean you should crush it with your playful jokes."
Silence.
Not a word was said save for the gaping mouths of his brothers. On the other hand, Nerdanel wore a pleased smile on her face as you stood up for yourself and Caranthir.
“Well then, that settles everything. Celegorm, no more teasing your brother, and that goes for the rest of you.” She spoke as she lifted her hand to point her finger around the table.
The dinner had ended an hour after all the food on the table was cleared and Nerdanel decided that it was getting late and that you ought to return home soon. She didn’t want to worry your parents about your whereabouts as the night was ending. Standing in the doorway, you and she were embracing each other one last time before you returned home when she wished for you to visit again.
Saying your goodbyes, you walked down the pathway hand in hand with Caranthir as he was looking at you intensively with one question circling his head.
“Did…did everything pass well to your liking?”
“It did, and I’m visiting you all again.”

Do you believe in reincarnation? Or that people can be connected across countries and sense each other at times, like when they're going through pain or intense emotions? My grandma and my mom were very into spiritism and kinda nature witch stuff, like my grandma spent half her life throwing curses on her neighbours (which weirdly came true), and when I was a kid my mom was always talking about her spirit guide, very into readings with cards, she was also friends with a psychic and they'd do seances and one time after that my mom said she was someone else but right after she was diagnosed with bipolar and commited to a hospital because she was spiraling. She's good now, and has been for years, but she still believes in all that stuff and etc. I've always kinda been a sceptic because to me that was all just a part of my mom's illness, but lately I've been having these intense instincts or feelings I guess, that someone is waiting for me. And dreams, and sometimes in that half awake time in bed I sense them but I know they're far away and also that we've met before and will meet again and sometimes there's like an intense emotional response that I can't explain. I learned how to read tarot as a kid and I do have a deck that was gifted to me when I was 15, but I almost never do readings for myself, I did a couple for friends for fun through the years, people find out you have a deck and they always beg for a reading but then get kinda freaked out when things are accurate, but I digress. I took out my deck a few weeks ago (after not touching it for two years, I think?) because this has been weighing a bit on my mind and was mindlessly shuffling the cards and at the time I was thinking "what is this, who is this person" and a card literally popped out of my hands and it was the Lovers card. So. I know I'm not crazy (it's always been my one big fear, because of my mom), I've been in therapy forever and also had psych evals and everyone is always like remarkable how not crazy you are since you grew up with a "crazy" mom. This is getting so long, I'm sorry, I guess I just want to ask your opinion, as someone who seems to be attuned to this kind of stuff, I guess. I'm not so much freaked out as more like weary and kinda like "oh no, is this thing I spent my life denying actually real or something".
Well first of all, I'm sorry you went through this with your mom. BPD can be a pretty severe condition, and it must have been very hard to see her spiralling.
Now, for you, the important thing is to remain emotionally balanced and happy, but also, firmly grounded into reality. I talk about that here, because I think it makes for funny stories, but it's a infinitesimal part of my life. I also always balance what I see / feel with the conviction that I could also be wrong. I really believe the proper attitude is basically agnosticism : maybe it's real, and I'm ready to accept that it is, maybe not, and I'm also ready to accept that it isn't.
The second important thing is also that if you're into tarot for example or any other form of oracle, always balance out what you see in the cards with the same healthy dose of agnosticism : maybe the cards predict something, maybe it's just a card deck and that's my imagination making the connections.
And now for belief. You believe in soul mates and reincarnation? It's great if it makes you feel good and your life a little bit enchanted. But it will be a problem if it stops you from living your life in the here and now.
Now, since you're still in therapy and probably processing what happened to you with your mother, I think the best thing you can do for your own well-being is to only take what brings positivity into your life, while always keeping yourself grounded in the rational part of life. You can day dream, paint, write stories, there is a million way to bring magic into your life without compromising your balance.

hello! i am starting this blog mainly for art- i predict about 90% of it will be reblogged art, usually of animals or video game stuff. i'll also be sharing my own art and talking about video game stuff occasionally, mainly my genshin impact challenge runs. yes runs plural. i have 3 currently, alongside my main account. more about them under the cut further below.
my current art style is just space with planets. mildly cartoony i think? def not realistic, but i think it's pretty (im a sucker for space, though i'd be terrified to actually go up in a space ship or anything- im content to admire from afar lol).
planning to share art on a MWF schedule- i can make the space art p quick and easily, so i need some sort of limiter so i don't burn myself out, while also practicing sticking to a schedule and also just doing art more frequently- im extremely rusty atm. hoping getting into the habit of drawing more often will shake off the rust and bolster my confidence.
i also like to use free stock photos as a sort of cut-out guide to make animal shapes out of space. it's fun and pretty painless- im used to spending hours getting angry at myself for not being able to free-hand anatomy, to the extent i stopped drawing for i think about two years now? cause i just hated everything i tried to make. rn i just wanna get used to drawing again without getting so angry with myself, and then slowly work on free-handing again.
oh, and! if you're doing a genshin challenge run, feel free to ramble to me about it! i love genshin challenge runs- i've got several im keeping tabs of on yt, and several more i wanna catch up on. aand question- what's your pulling plans for this upcoming patch?
on my main, im at i think 53 pity on 50/50, gonna try to pull xianyun. my most hoped for result- lose 50/50 to tighnari (or jean, ill take jean too), then spend a few 10 pull to get xianyun while getting faruzan and noelle to c6. overly hopeful maybe! i'd also be happy to win 50/50 too, of course. not getting the 4 stars c6 would sting a little, but it's more primos for future banners (already have nahida so once i get xianyun im done pulling).
challenge run #1 is a standard banner only account. it's the furthest along by a long shot, having been started several months ago, but bc it's a more casual account, im thinking it'll get overtaken fast. currently post act 1 of inazuma, with level 60 characters, almost ready to upgrade them to 70.
originally planned to not pull at all til i got all the free characters up to 90 and fully built, and then had a realization that was kinda incompatible with how i was playing- there just keep being more and more free characters, and it's a slow paced account that im mostly using to replay story stuff when i feel like. so now i just do pulls whenever.
i feel like the game mildly punished me for that decision, bc out of 200+ pulls, i got. 3 5 star weapons and a diluc (who im not really interested in playing atm, though i DID get wolf's gravestone. so im on the fence). and then a little while ago, i got qiqi. i had been really, really hoping for tighnari, or at least. pretty much anyone else? keqing, jean, and dehya i'd have been fine with. don't really want mona, so i'll probably end up getting her next. or another weapon :P
next is dark hair only, where yeah. i only play characters with dark hair. i just started less than a week ago now, so very young account. i judge who has dark hair using medibang's color picker on the character' hair in their icon (ignoring shadows and highlights), since it's neutral lighting. any character who stays generally at or under 100 value counts as dark haired.
some characters were hard to judge bc gradients- shout-out to mona for being a weird edgecase- the purples in her hair are definitely too light, and most of her roots are in shadow or covered, so it's hard to get a good read. i'm thinking she will count though- if for no other reason than, there's literally only 13 other characters that count currently.
all who are currently allowed in dark hair only- amber (this one caught me off-guard ngl), beidou, dehya, kaeya, mona, tighnari, venti, wanderer, wriothesley, xiao, xinyan, yelan, yun jin, and zhongli. surprisingly, raiden shogun, xiangling, and kujou sara don't actually make the cut-off- they're all generally just a little bit above 100.
xianyun and gaming's icons aren't officially released yet, so while i expect they'll make the cut-off, im still not gonna count them quite yet.
last account, which i finally got going yesterday, is signature weapons only. simple enough for most of the limited 5 stars- and with xiao coming up, this is the best time to start, since PJWS is also a standard banner weapon. ganyu's also a must-pull for this account for similar reasons.
as far as four stars and five stars without signature weapons, my first thought was "whichever weapon they used in their character miscellany". and then i actually checked, and dear mercy, there is. 0 synergy with the weapons they chose for so many of them. i still haven't gotten over EM layla. it would be a severe power discrepency- 5 stars get a weapon that bolsters their abilities, while 4 stars often get a stat stick at best.
so im kinda at square one with them now. my next thought is just, scrub through the character miscellany, record all the weapons a given character uses, and then those are the weapons available to that character. repeat for the next character. which could give them much more flexibility. that's gonna take hours though, so ive been putting it off lol.
could also just keep it simple and say, if a character has a signature they HAVE to use it, if not, then whatever. or put a rule that i have to pick 1 weapon per 4 star, and they can't be shared (ie yun jin and yaoyao can't both have fav spear), with shuffling allowed when new weapons come. dunno, ill think on it some more while exploring new region on my main ;P
oh, and general rule for all accounts- trial characters and traveler are allowed for solving puzzles, if necessary, just not for combat. will try to avoid when possible of course.

The Animal Hospitals: A Guide to Veterinary Hospitals and Pet Care
When it comes to taking care of your beloved pet, you want to make sure that you are doing everything possible to keep them healthy and happy. This means finding a good veterinary hospital and following their advice when it comes to your pet's care. To help you out, here is a guide to some of the most common veterinary hospitals and what services they offer.
A. What is an animal hospital?
An animal hospital is a place where sick or injured animals can go to receive treatment. Some animal hospitals are also open to the public, and they offer services such as vaccinations, check-ups, and surgeries. Animal hospitals can be either small or large, and they may have different specialties, such as surgery, internal medicine, or emergency care.
B. What services do animal hospitals offer?
Animal hospitals offer a wide variety of services to their patients. Some of these services include routine check-ups, vaccinations, surgery, and hospitalization.
Routine check-ups are a very important part of taking care of your pet. At these check-ups, your veterinarian will examine your pet and make sure that they are healthy. They will also discuss any concerns you may have and give you advice on how to keep your pet healthy.
Vaccinations are another important service that animal hospitals offer. Vaccinations protect your pet from diseases and help keep them healthy.
Animal hospitals also offer surgery. This may include spaying or neutering your pet, or performing surgery to correct an injury or illness.
Hospitalization is another service that animal hospitals offer. If your pet becomes sick or injured, they may need to be admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Animal hospitals provide a variety of important services that help keep your pet healthy. If you have any questions or concerns, be sure to talk to your veterinarian.
C. How can I find a good animal hospital?
If you're looking for a good animal hospital, there are a few things you can do to make sure you find the best one for your pet. First, ask your friends and family for recommendations. They may have had a good experience with a certain hospital in the past. You can also check online review websites or search for hospitals near you on the American Animal Hospital Association website.
D. What should I do if my pet is sick?
If your pet is sick, you should take it to the veterinarian as soon as possible. Pets can't tell us when they're not feeling well, so it's important to watch them for any changes in behavior or eating habits. If your pet has a fever, is vomiting, or has diarrhea, it's probably time to take it to the vet.
E. What should I do if I want to adopt a pet?
If you are thinking about adopting a pet, there are a few things you need to think about before you make your decision. First, do you have enough space for a pet? You will need to provide a home with a yard or a designated space for your pet to play. Second, can you afford to care for a pet? Pets require food, water, shelter, and medical care, and the costs can add up. Third, are you prepared to handle the responsibilities of pet ownership? Pets require regular exercise, groomings, and clean-ups. If you can answer “yes” to these questions, then you are ready to adopt a pet!
There are many great places to adopt pets, such as animal shelters and rescue organizations. Be sure to do your research and find an organization that aligns with your values and meets the needs of the pet you are looking to adopt. When you find the perfect pet, the adoption process is usually pretty simple. You will likely need to fill out an application, provide proof of ownership, and pay an adoption fee.
Once you have adopted your new pet, be sure to set ground rules and establish a routine. Pets thrive when they have a set schedule and know what is expected of them. Spend time training your pet and get them used to their new home. And most importantly, have fun! Pets can bring a lot of joy to our lives, and we should enjoy them while they are part of our family.
F. What vaccinations do my pets need?
The most common vaccinations for pets are rabies, distemper, and parvo. Rabies is required by law in most states, and is a deadly virus that can infect any warm-blooded animal. Distemper is a widespread and highly contagious virus that can affect dogs, cats, and other animals. Parvo is a potentially fatal virus that affects dogs and puppies. Pets should receive their vaccinations at the age of 6-8 weeks, and then receive booster shots every year or two.
No matter what veterinary hospital you choose, be sure to ask around for recommendations and do your research to find the one that is best for you and your pet. Taking care of your pet is one of the most important things you can do, and with the help of a good veterinary hospital, you can be sure that they will be happy and healthy for years to come.

watching a scary movie with the boys was definitely not the best idea. though they were terrified themselves, they knew someone who was more scared then them; you. and with that information, they decided to scare you even more.

“hey i’m gonna go to the bathroom,” you gulped, telling your boyfriend. his brows furrow as he sees how tense you are.
“are you okay? do you want me to take you there?” he asks before you shake your head. you softly get out of his grasp before quietly making your way to the bathroom.
this was when the boys were ready to strike their plan.
as you washed your hands, you heard a creek around you but didn’t think much of it. it was probably one of the boys going up to their room to get something.
what you didn’t expect was for you to grabbed by your wrist out of the bathroom. the only thing you could do is scream before your boyfriend came to calm you down.

when he arrives at the living room, the boys are all looking down
guilty looking
“which one of you did it?”
oh man, was jay in for one long scolding </3
-ˏˋ~ jay park ~ˊˎ-
“i’m here, i’m here”
he gently strokes your hair
you’re still a bit shaken up from what happened
he is glaring at the culprit who hasn’t left yet
“ni-ki what were you thinking?”
ni-ki bows his head to you
“i’m sorry, (y/n) noona,”
you turn to him before giving him hug
“it’s okay, you were just trying to have some fun”
jay is still a little upset because of how scared you seemed
but since you forgave ni-ki, he did too
happy ending !!
-ˏˋ~ jake sim ~ˊˎ-
“you’re okay, love, you’re okay”
to be honest, jake is kinda shaken up too
he doesn’t like scary things
(that one scene in i-land where the ghost came)
but the horror movie won the pick today, what could he do?
you both are cowering in each other’s hold
heeseung comes forward
“(y/n)? i’m sorry, i didn’t think it would be that scary. i didn’t mean any harm. i’m really sorry”
you give him a slight smile and accepted the apology
jake definitely didn’t </3
-ˏˋ~ sunghoon park ~ˊˎ-
sunghoon was panicking
he never dealt with comforting you
(since you guys were new to dating)
he holds your face, his thumb caressing your cheeks
“it’s just me babe, you’re okay”
the only thing he could offer to you was reassurance
reassurance that he was there
you start to calm down before he gives you a soft smile
silent treatment to the whole group until they apologize
-ˏˋ~ sunoo kim ~ˊˎ-
“are you okay bub?”
sunoo’s heart softens when you cling on to him like your life depended on it
he rubs your back soothingly
he looks over to the one and only, jay
“jay hyung, was that really necessary?”
sunoo’s words drip venom
(i would be so scared to make sunoo angry)
jay nervously chuckles
but sunoo only tilted his head with no expression
that means things gettin serious
silent treatment to the whole group until they apologize #2
-ˏˋ~ jungwon yang ~ˊˎ-
i feel like jungwon the type of guy to ask you for consent
“hi baby, it’s me won. may i hug you?”
when you give the okay sign
he engulfs you in a warm, welcoming hug
he plants a kiss to your forehead
mumbling that you’re okay
he glares at the younger one
“ni-ki would you like to say something to (y/n)?”
“uh- uh - JAY MADE ME DO IT”
“WHAT”
-ˏˋ~ nishimura riki ~ˊˎ-
ni-ki doesn’t say anything
as soon as he sees you, he just hugs you
he lets you breathe and calm down
as he kisses your temple
a sign that he’s right there with you
that it’s okay <333
ni-ki is currently blankly staring at heeseung
(that’s more scary than a glare)
silent treatment to the whole group until they apologize #3

Tumblr media
“Luke! Stop moving!” She lightly slapped her boyfriend’s hand, to which he groaned in return. Her tongue stuck out slightly from between her lips in concentration, eyebrows furrowing as she returned to the task she had firmly put her mind to. That was, until the blond giant moved again, “Luke!”
“Bambi,” Luke echoed lightly, using his nickname for the smaller girl in front of him who looked up at him with an unimpressed facial expression.
“You’re gonna ruin it,” She mumbled lightly, pointing back down at her artwork which Luke only then first looked at. It was safe to say, although he shouldn’t have been, he was thoroughly shocked.
His nails, which his girl had somehow managed to convince him into painting weren’t black, or blue. No, they were bright, blasting, hot pink. He groaned lightly, wondering just how exactly she had managed to rope him into this and just how he was going to hide his nails from the rest of the gang later on tonight when he -they- met up with them tonight.
She was a bundle of both nerves and excitement, finally getting to meet Luke’s closest friends. It had been about a week since their argument, and now she was meeting his friends. It seemed like everything was moving in the right direction, thankfully. She couldn’t wait to be honest, very much looking forward to being able to hear more about Luke from his friends, and just meeting them in general.
They seemed fun.
Well, as fun as gang members could be. She probably should have been more cautious surrounding them, but Luke got her guard down so quickly and she was yet to regret that. How scary could they possibly be considering the man in front of her, soft blond curls held back by her bunny bath headband, nails painted hot pink, was supposed to be the scariest man in the whole city.
“Cal’s gonna rip the piss outta me for this, Bambi,” He complained softly, with no plans to take the polish off of his nails as he looked at his girlfriend, between his legs, small hand wrapped around the bottle of nail polish with her other hand laying against his knee.
She couldn’t help the small upturn of her lips as she blew softly against the nail polish on his fingernails, not patient enough to let it airdry despite it being a fast-drying polish. She shrugged lightly, head flopping to the side adorably as Luke stared down at her, resisting the urge to run his hands through her hair; another issue he had with the wet paint on his fingernails.
“I think it looks great, we’re matching,” She then flaunted the bright pink color that coated her own nails, and Luke’s lips twitched into a grin, careful not to ‘aww’ at the cute words that came out of the smaller girl’s mouth.
He hummed lightly, leaning back against the couch but his baby blues never leaving her face, “They look a lot better on you than they do me, Bambi.”
“I think they’re cute,” The girl climbed onto his lap, making Luke take a deep intake of breath as she sits barely an inch away from a rather sensitive area of his. She, however, seemed to pay no attention to the risen area of his jeans as she leaned against his chest, face hidden in the crook of his neck, soft breaths from her mouth fanning against his neck.
He twisted to give her a small kiss on the forehead, to which she responds by kissing his neck softly, lips staying against his neck as her hand traveled up his stomach up to his neck, holding him close as she began to kiss the base of his neck more.
“Lu,” She whispered softly, “How much time have we got?”
“Like an hour, baby. Why?”
However, the girl never replied verbally, and instead repositioned herself carefully, Luke’s neck void from her warmth before her hand started to travel down, painfully slow, until it landed right above the tent in his jeans. His eyes traveled up to meet hers, eyebrow raised as she dropped her hand down barely, lips struggling to pull the smirk away.
He lifted his hands to her back, going to reposition her before she shook her head, “Your nail polish, Lu. Hands down.”
His hands didn’t move, frozen in place around her clothed waist. His nails were long since dried, she knew that, but she liked this. She liked the intake of breath he took when her hand ghosted over the hardened cock in his jeans, the way he couldn’t lift his hands; scared to smudge the pink on his nails.
He was restricted. Oh, how the tables had turned.
Her hand gently palmed against his hardened, clothed cock, causing a grumble to emit from his throat. It was a deep rumbling sound, -something that the girl had heard numerous times but would never get used to.
To her, everything about Luke was perfect, even his moans.
“Bambi, you know the rules about teasing-”
Her lips attached to his, cutting him off rather efficiently, pressing softly as she continued to palm him through his jeans, gently rocking on his thigh. He moaned into their kiss, her tongue, as a reflex, finding its way into his mouth. Their tongues pressed against one another, lips still pressed together as her spare hand crawled up to the back of his neck, playing with his soft curls.
Her palm pressed into his fully hardened cock now, his tongue swiping over her lips before tugging on it, pulling apart, breathless. His hands found a place on her waist, guiding her softly but firmly, taking back the control he craved.
Looking her straight in the eyes, one of Luke’s hands went around her neck, thumb pulling her lower lip down as he unbuckled his belt with one hand, taking his cock out of its confined clothing and bringing her hand down to hold onto it. It wasn’t the first time that she had given him a handjob, and it wouldn’t be the last, but she still couldn’t help but be nervous.
Despite not being a virgin when she met Luke, she still lacked a lot of experience that Luke definitely had. She knew that he would never judge her, but that never stopped the nerves that festered.
“All shy all of a sudden, Bambi?” He mocked, hand around her neck tightening as he bit down on her ear lobe, gently tugging at it before letting out a breath, “All big and brave, teasing Sir, aren’t you? If you’re going to start it, then you’re going to finish it. On your knees. Now.”
Releasing a shaky breath, the girl clambered out of Luke’s lap dropping to the floor, in a similar position to the one she had been in minutes before, only in a more sexual manner. Her lips met the tip of his cock, tongue lightly swiping across the base.
His hand grabbed firmly onto the hair on the back of her head, holding her steady as she got used to the feeling of his cock in her mouth before thrusting against her. She gagged as it hit the back of her throat, sending vibrations up him, releasing a deep moan from his throat.
“Suck, little girl,” Luke commanded deeply, leaving no room for argument as the smaller girl abided to his command, tongue swiping over him as she reached up to cover the last part of his cock with her hand.
Yet, she didn’t get much further when a ringing sounded through the room, Luke groaning but ultimately pulling away from the girl who stayed on the floor, watching Luke as he grabbed his phone.
“What?” He gritted his teeth lightly, trying to keep his frustration at bay after being interrupted.
He sighed softly, not looking at the small girl with furrowed eyebrows still on the floor as he pulled his jeans back up, clambering to get shoes on and getting ready to leave, hanging the phone up.
“Luke what’s going on?”
“Gang shit, Bambi. I gotta get going, be ready for six, we’re meeting Cal, Ash, and Mike later, remember?” He offered her no more words, but she can tell he isn’t angry at her, just due to their interruption.
However, she can’t help but be frustrated at the interruption, waiting until after Luke leaves to huff and puff about it before starting to get ready.
. . .
“Luke has this old penguin fan account on Instagram from like seven years ago. There’s this one picture on there with him with a penguin hat-”
“Cal, stop,” Luke interrupted Cal swiftly, an arm going around his smaller girlfriend’s waist who looked far too amused by the embarrassing things about Luke that Cal was telling.
“No, no, Calum please keep going. Please,” The girl begged, feeling very comfortable around the Maori boy. They were pleasant, to her at least, and so far they had made her feel very comfortable and very much at home. It was hard to believe that the people joking with her where infamous mobsters, ones that were feared all across the city, and state.
They had met in Ashton’s house, who she had already met before, at six o’clock. It turns out gang members like to be punctual, or maybe it was only these ones.
Luke was in a bit of a hurry once he arrived back home, with no time to finish what he and his girl had started before he had to leave in a hurry, leaving her oh so frustrated. This was only magnified when she saw him afterward, ready to head to Ash’s in that pale pink silk button-up that only seemed like it would suit him; like it was made specifically for him.
Maybe it was.
Luke was never shy of customized clothing, cars, or anything he wanted honestly. If you have the money, why not? Was always his answer when she asked why he seemed to wear all of these expensive items. If it wasn’t custom-made, it was a high-quality designer that he wore, she rarely ever found him in anything that didn’t smell of cash and high-class, -far too expensive but albeit intoxicating- cologne.
This money of Luke’s also happened to extend to her also. He was never shy of picking her up a few things, letting her have his card for shopping and now, he started going out shopping with her too. He didn’t look like the type that would go out with his ‘girlfriend’ or anyone, but in the case of her, he followed her around like a lost puppy; willing to hold her bags, let her drain his bank account. Not that she did, anyway. She was still mindful, even if Luke had more money than he knew what to do with.
“Nah, can’t. Don’t want Luke to kill me for embarrassing me in front of his precious little girlfriend,” Calum teased lightly, shaking his head as his eyes darted to meet Luke’s baby blues. Truthfully, Luke could pretend to be annoyed at Cal and the rest for exposing his old penguin Instagram account but he was just glad to see them getting along with the girl that owned his heart.
She was the first girlfriend that his best friends seemed to approve of. He didn’t normally bring his girlfriends to meet them, but the ones he did, the boys he called his best friends didn’t usually like them. For the first time, Luke could actually see a future with the girl in front of him, beamingly smiling as Cal and Michael joke about with her and laughing at their attempts of humor.
God, he loved her.
“So, do you think they like me?” She asked the moment they got home, the door shut behind them. Luke turned around, staring at the wide-eyed girl with a small smile on his lips.
Did she seriously not realize how much they liked her? Especially with how much joking that they had done with her, he was certain that she would have realized but then again, she wasn’t the most self-assured person when it comes to new people. He nodded his head, “Yeah, Bambi. They really liked you.”
Luke would never get over the way her eyes sparkled, his smile only growing. She looked amazing in that red silky dress that he had bought her, and he looked just as good in the coral colored button-up he was wearing.
Their lips met softly, Luke bending down slightly to meet her lips as the girl went up on her tiptoes, bare feet on the top of Luke’s shoes. He didn’t mind, in fact, he barely even realized as he swiped his tongue across her bottom lip for access which she quickly gave him. Her hands wrapped around his neck, one entangling in his blond curls, while his went around her waist and one under her ass, lifting her up.
Her legs wrapped around his waist, lips never breaking away from his as she moaned into the kiss. She pushed herself closer to him as the kiss heated up, eyes closed as Luke tried his best to navigate the way to their bedroom. Thankfully, even with his eyes partially closed and completely distracted by the soft lips on his, he managed to get there, fumbling with the doorknob before kicking the door open.
Luke pulled away quickly to get a breath, now at the edge of the bed as his mouth went to the side of her face, pressing kisses along her neck before whispering in a sinfully sultry voice, “Let’s finish what we started earlier, huh?”
With that, she was placed down on the bed, staring at Luke with a glaze in her eyes, lust, lips slightly swollen as he pushed her dress up, nudging her underwear to the side. His fingers ghosted over her pussy, making her take a ragged intake of breath. He was on top of her, watching her as she awaited every movement of his fingers, completely helpless under his touch.
“So wet for me, baby,” He murmured, pressing a few chaste kisses against the base of her neck as he rubbed her slit. She didn’t reply just yet, whining lightly when he slowed down his movements, coming to a stop, “Tell me what you want baby.”
“You, Lu. I want you, sir,” Her words flooded out of her mouth quickly, the aching between her legs becoming too much. If Luke didn’t do something about it soon then she would have to. She stared up at his smirking face above her. His fingers pulled away from her, making her whine as he reached for his belt, skillfully unbuckling it and letting his cock spring free from its confines.
He looked up at her as he repositioned himself, her squirming with need beneath him before he lined his tip at her entrance, baby blues meeting her eyes, “You sure?”
She nodded vigorously in return, but Luke didn’t move, commanding lightly, “Words, baby.”
“Please Luke, I’m sure. Please fuck me.” He swatted her thigh at the sound of the swear falling from her lips but obliged nonetheless, plunging deep into her letting out a moan, her strangled moan following behind.
He plunged in once again, hitting a spot that made her whimper and moan at the same time, hands reaching around to his back, clawing on the now exposed skin. Luke’s hips are flushed against hers as he goes deep inside of her once again, both moaning.
“Fuck, Bambi,”
Luke’s pace quickened, thrusts becoming sloppier as he continued to thrust into her, hitting her sweet spot over and over, moans filling the room with small pleads from her and soft curses from him.
Then a phone went off. Luke froze inside of her, and she groaned, sweaty, a mess, and incredibly sexually frustrated. She could feel Luke sitting inside of her; how big he was. She thought that he was going to ignore the phone call, to continue something that they were robbed of earlier. He wasn’t really going to let them be interrupted twice today, was he?
He reached over to the bedside table, picking his phone up and looking at the caller ID before sighing. He pulled out of her, baby blues looking at her with a frown, “I need to take this.”
“Luke,” It was a plead. For him to stay with her, to let them finish what they started. She shuffled lightly until she was sitting in front of him, on her knees. Her hand went to the side of his face, caressing it gently as she put her face at his neck, “Stay with me, Sir. I need you.”
He knew exactly what she was trying to do, but he wasn’t going to fall for it. He pulled away from her, gripping onto her side as a warning with his free hand, “No, Bambi.”
His voice was low, a warning for her to stop what she was doing as he sent her a pointed look. He didn’t even let her make another move or get another word in before he was back in his jeans and walking out of the room, leaving her alone.
The seconds that she was alone turned into minutes, and those minutes turned into ten, then fifteen. She shifted uncomfortably, still on edge and incredibly frustrated. It didn’t seem like Luke was coming back as he had left without saying goodbye or telling her where he was going to be or how long. Was this all because she had tried to get him to stay?
Well, if he wasn’t going to get back, she would have to take stuff into her own hands. Leaning back, her hand reached her own clit, rubbing desperately, basking in the feeling once again. This time, she would get the job done.
Her fingers slipped inside of her, curling into her, moans softly filtering out of her lips. She was close, her fingers covered in her own slick as she continued to curl her hands into herself, soft pants falling from her lips as she spread her legs more to get a better angle, trying to go deeper.
Her hands would never be as good as Luke’s though, her small fingers not holding a torch to his digits. He knew everything that made her squirm, even better than she did, he had her all decoded, knew how to navigate her better than anyone else ever could.
“Baby I need to get-” Luke opened the door, stopping when his eyes met her figure on the middle of the bed, fingers inside of her as soft breaths fell from her lips. Her head titled back, eyes lidded as he froze on the spot before a smirk made its way onto his face.
“Really?” He asked incredulously, sauntering up to the bed before grabbing onto her wrist, pulling her fingers out of her desperate cunt making her whine. Her eyes met his, which never strayed, even after he brought her hand up to his mouth and swirling his tongue around her slick-covered digits.
“Lu-”
“Quiet,” He shut her up quickly, voice hard and commanding, something that made nerves bundle in her stomach and turned her on even more. He stood up again, sauntering over to the dresser before pulling a belt from the top of it, grabbing her hands and confining them with the thick leather, “Since you can’t keep your hands off of that pretty little pussy of mine, I guess we’re going to have to do something about that.”
Luke pulled her up to the headboard, hooping the leather around there and tightening it. When he let go, she pulled against the leather restraints, only to find her hands unable to move from their position at the headboard.
“So desperate to cum, baby? Well, you’ll be desperate to stop after I make you come over and over until there’s no more cum left in your body and you're writhing beneath me. Do you understand me, baby?”
“Yes Sir,” She whimpered out in return, nodding her head as she breathed heavily, watching Luke’s hand as it trailed teasingly down her side until it reached her pussy, a finger flicking up and down it, making her hips jerk up.
“But first of all, I need to go deal with the drug run. See you later, Bambi.”
And with a smirk on his face, Luke left his girlfriend there, tied up to the bed, whining for him to come back. And he would, and when he did, she wouldn’t be walking for days afterward.

Take Care of You (Ethan x f!MC)
Tumblr media
Book: Open Heart
Pairing: Ethan Ramsey x Natalie Cusack
Special Appearance: Tobias Carrick
Word count: 2175
Summary: When Ethan falls sick, Nat steps in to take care of him.
Rating: T
Author’s Note: Hi, hello. It’s been a crappy week and I’m emotionally/physically exhausted. So here’s some fluff to counter the bad week. This is unedited, so please forgive any mistakes. Hope you like it. 💙
Ethan never got sick. Ever. Despite working in a hospital, surrounded by sick people on a daily basis, Ethan always managed to stay as healthy as possible. He had prided himself on his strong immune system and seemingly inability to fall ill.
Until today, that is. He woke with so much pressure in his sinuses, he thought his head would burst. Getting out of bed was a feat in itself, as his whole body ached. He sniffled as he made his way to the bathroom and nearly jumped at his own reflection: his eyes were puffy, his nose was red, and his posture was significantly slouched. He tried to stand up straight but only groaned as his body protested the movement. Today was going to be long.
Pushing through, he swallowed a couple of DayQuils with his morning coffee, stuffed some tissues into his pocket, and gave Jenner a pat on the head before sluggishly making his way to work.
Arriving at the hospital, he noticed the looks of surprise and concern that people gave him as he passed. He didn’t know why; it was just a little cold. It wasn’t like he had grown a second head. He rolled his eyes and continued towards the seventh floor, ignoring everyone he walked past.
Finally arriving in the Diagnostics Office, he found himself breathing heavier than normal. As he sat at his desk, he attempted to take a deep breath but instead triggered a coughing fit. He grabbed a nearby Kleenex and coughed hard, his body wracking with the movement. He took a deep breath and coughed one last time before his lungs took pity on him and stopped causing him distress. Ethan groaned and dropped his head into his hands.
“Ethan? You okay, man?” a voice said.
Ethan looked up to find Tobias looking at him with concern. He hadn’t even heard his old friend come in. He nodded and sighed. “Yeah; just a little under the weather today, is all.”
“If you’re not feeling well, you should probably go home,” Tobias suggested. “There’s no point in pushing yourself to further exhaustion.”
Ethan shook his head. “I’m fine; I just need the DayQuil to kick in.”
Tobias pursed his lips then clicked his tongue. “If you say so; Nat’s not gonna be happy to see you like this though.”
“See who like what?” the aforementioned doctor asked as she walked into the room. Natalie looked to Tobias first then Ethan, her eyes widening. “Woah, are you okay?” She quickly made her way over to Ethan and rested the back of her hand to his forehead.
He weakly brushed her hand away. “I’m fine, Nat. Just a little under the weather.”
“I’d say more than a little; you look terrible!” She exclaimed. He frowned and she gave him a small smile. “Sorry babe, but it’s true.”
“I also walked in on him having a serious coughing fit a moment ago,” Tobias said. Ethan glared at Tobias but the latter deliberately avoided eye contact with him, choosing to look at his phone instead.
Natalie gently placed her hand on Ethan’s cheek and turned his face towards her so she could look at him. He watched as her eyes scanned his face and knew she was trying to figure out how sick he really was. He both loved and hated how well she knew him sometimes. “You should go home, Ethan.”
“I’m fine,” he argued. “I already took some meds, they just need to kick in.”
She pulled out her stethoscope and pointed it at him threateningly. “Go home or I’ll admit you.”
Tobias coughed back a chuckle and Ethan raised an eyebrow. “You do remember I’m your boss, right?”
She nodded as she put the headset into her ears and placed the cold chestpiece against his chest, making him jump. “You’re my boss, my boyfriend, and now, my patient. Breathe in.”
“Nat, this is ridiculous--” he argued but stopped when she glared at him.
“Breathe. In.” she repeated. Shaking his head in reply, he did as she said and found taking a breath was difficult. He fought the cough he could feel bubbling up but to no avail; thankfully, however, this cough was not nearly as violent as the last one. Nat pulled the chestpiece away and nodded. “Yeah, you’re a mess. You’re going home.” He opened his mouth to protest but she held up her hand. “Don’t argue with me on this. You’re in no state to work, let alone be around other sick patients.”
She pulled out a prescription pad, scribbled something down then turned to Tobias and handed it to him. “Tobias, can you send this down to the pharmacy so they can get it filled? I’ll pick it up when it’s ready.”
He nodded and took the form. “Sure thing.” He turned to Ethan and smiled sympathetically. “Get better soon, Ethan. Nat’s not as fun to be around when she’s in charge.”
Natalie rolled her eyes and smirked as Tobias made his way out of the office. She turned back to Ethan and softened her gaze as he frowned and sniffled. She caressed his cheek with her hand. “I love you.”
His frown shifted to a small smile. “I love you too.” He sneezed.
“You see why I’m sending you home, right?”
He sighed and nodded. “Yeah; I do. I hate being sick. I always feel so useless.”
“You are still human, my love; and humans get sick from time to time. It’s normal.” She crouched in front of him and took his hands in hers. “I’ll come over after my shift and make you some soup, okay?”
“You don’t have to do that--” he weakly protested.
She shook her head. “I want to; let me take care of you, baby. Please.”
Sighing, he nodded and stood, bringing Natalie up with him. He reached for her but hesitated as he didn’t want to make her ill. She smiled at him and stood on her tiptoes to place a gentle kiss on his forehead. “Go home and get some rest. I’ll be there in a couple hours.”
He nodded. Sighing, he left the hospital and made his way home, his head in a fog for most of the journey. After safely arriving home, he changed into some more comfortable clothing, with the intention of getting some work done on his laptop; but the bed looked just so inviting. I guess I could lay down for a few minutes, he thought. Gently, he laid on the bed and closed his eyes. Five minutes is all I need. Within seconds, his body relaxed and he began to emit quiet snores, work completely forgotten.
-------------------------------------------
Several Hours Later
Ethan woke to the muffled sounds of the television and someone shuffling around in his kitchen. He groaned and got out of bed, padding his way to the source of the noise. As he exited the bedroom, he was greeted with the various sights of onion, tomato, and meat that were cooking on the stovetop. Unfortunately, due to his stuffed sinuses, he could barely smell anything but he presumed it was heavenly.
“Hi,” a voice said. He turned his attention to the source and smiled as Natalie approached him, throwing a hand towel over her shoulder. “How are you feeling?”
“Not great,” he replied, truthfully.
She gently brought his forehead to her lips as she judged his temperature. She hummed as she pulled away. “You’re warm.” She turned around and grabbed a small box out of her purse then handed it to him. He looked it over appraisingly, realizing this must be the prescription Nat wrote out earlier. “Take one of these now; it should lower your fever and help you feel better. Go get comfortable, the soup will be ready soon.”
“You didn’t have to do all this, Nat,” he began.
“Of course I did,” she said, cutting him off. She rested a gentle hand on his back and guided him towards the sofa. “Now, relax and get comfy. I’m almost done.”
Ethan did as she said, plopping down on the couch. He opened the prescription box and took the prescribed medication as Jenner trotted over and rested his head in his master’s lap. Ethan patted the pup’s head soothingly, giving him a tired smile. “Has she been giving you orders today, too?” he asked.
“Unlike you, Jenner is a spectacular patient,” Nat answered from the kitchen. “He’s been very good and even earned himself a few treats for being so good.”
“Did you, now?” Ethan mused, looking down at Jenner. The pup, none the wiser to the conversation happening about him, simply wagged his tail and gave his best doggy smile to his owner. Ethan chuckled. “Good dog.”
Taking the remote, he flipped to the Classic Film channel and sunk lower onto the couch. He felt his body begin to shiver and grabbed the nearby throw blanket, covering himself with it. “God, this is awful. I hate being sick.”
“I know, my love,” Nat soothed. “But the meds I gave you should help. They just need time to kick in. And,” she walked over and placed a bowl of hot soup in front of him on the coffee table, “this should help too. It’s an old family recipe of Dani’s. It works wonders.”
“Speaking from experience?” he asked, leaning over, letting the steam from the hot bowl wash over his face.
Nat nodded. “Yep. Both Dani and I got the flu within a week of each other when we were still living together. She made this soup for us and we both felt better almost immediately. I’m convinced it’s got magic powers.”
Ethan chuckled. “I’ll take your word for it.” He pulled the coffee table a little closer to the couch and smiled at Nat. “Thank you for making this.”
“You’re welcome,” she said, returning his smile. “Now, eat. I’ll be right there.”
Lacking the energy to argue, he did as she said, bringing a spoonful of the hot soup to his lips. Within minutes, Ethan felt the hot liquid warm up his body, which had been starting to feel cold. Nat smiled as she joined him with her own bowl, nodding in approval as he steadily ate.
Nat filled him in on what he missed at work while they ate, which hadn’t been much, thankfully. Their new patient wouldn’t be admitted for another week so the team had just done some prep and research today but nothing else beyond that. Ethan asked a few questions as Nat explained but otherwise, remained quiet through their conversation. Nat raised an eyebrow, suspicious. “You’re being unusually cooperative. What’s the matter?”
He chuckled and placed his near empty bowl on the coffee table. “Nothing. I’m just feeling a little drained, is all.”
“Mm, I’m not surprised. When you get sick, it hits you like a freight train.”
He frowned. “Thanks.”
Nat chuckled and settled deeper into the couch. She opened her arms and gestured towards herself with her fingers. “C’mere.”
Needing no further invitation, Ethan maneuvered himself into Nat’s embrace, covering them both with the throw blanket he had still been wearing. As he relaxed in her arms, he wondered aloud, “Aren’t you worried about getting sick?”
She hummed. “Nah. But even if I was, it wouldn’t stop me from being here.” She ran her fingers through his hair. “I would take care of you, anytime.”
He looked up at her and smiled. “Thank you, Nat. You’re too good for me.”
“No, I’m not,” she replied, smiling. “We’re just the right amount of good for each other.” She kissed his head. “Can I get you anything else?”
He shook his head, tightening his hold around her midsection. “No. Just you.”
“I’m right here,” Nat reassured.
“Love you,” Ethan murmured, his eyes fluttering closed.
“I love you too. Now, rest.” She gently leaned over and took the remote from the coffee table.
“Don’t watch the next episode of Bake Off without me,” Ethan said, his voice drowsy.
Nat chuckled. “I wouldn’t dare. When you’re feeling better, we’ll pick up where we left off.” When he didn’t respond, she glanced down to find that Ethan had fallen asleep. Smiling to herself, she turned on an old favorite film of hers and watched, while running her fingers up and down Ethan’s back.
It would be a few more days before Ethan was back in top shape; but Nat took care of him the entire time. From bringing him food to ensuring he rested instead of working, Nat took better care of Ethan than he had ever done himself when he had been sick in the past. He’d never been so well taken care of before, and it made him all the more grateful to have her in his life. He’d always hoped she’d take over the DT for him one day; and after the way she cared for him, he knew the team would be in the best possible hands. And so would he.

➜ sunghoon had never fallen in love with anything the way he did with skating. the wind in his face, the crunch of the ice beneath his feet, it was wonderful. and yet, something about it made your blood boil. you once loved ice skating too, for the same reasons as he, but maybe all you needed was a simple goodbye to understand park sunghoon.

The busy sounds of couples, families, and friends fill the air as the cold wind hits your face. Holding hands with your mom, you glide through the ice, laughter filling the entire rink. The bleachers, the other skaters, the floor, it all disappears and the only thing that’s left is you and your mom. Your seven year old self had never felt so alive.
And yet, here you were, seventeen, staring off into the ice rink as other kids and their mothers ice skated. Ever since you fell in love with the sport it had been the bane of your existence. Mom died, so you stopped. You swore to never go back again, it gave you anxiety. You tried, you really did, but something about being on the ice reminded you so much of the past you wanted to leave behind. It went downhill from then on.
“Hey, what are you thinking about?” a familiar voice calls out to you. Sunghoon, who had been practicing for his upcoming competition, leans against the side of the rink, talking to you who was sitting on the bleachers.
“Just my mom again,” you reply.
“It’s been a while since she passed away, huh. Should we go get some ice cream to cheer you up then?” He says as he skates towards the exit, walking to you. You stand up, bag in hand, and wait for him to change out of his skates. Sunghoon, who had been your best friend since your five year old skating class, had been with you through everything. He always seemed to know just what to say to cheer you up.
“Hey, y/n. Do you think you’d ever try to skate again?” Sunghoon asks, fully knowing the answer but hoping maybe this time it'll be different.
“Haha, you really want me to get back into skating that badly?”
“Well, it’s been a while since you’ve done it. You don’t have to compete with me again, you know. But why don’t you just try it again for fun?”
You stop in your tracks and think about it. It wouldn’t hurt to try for fun. It was your life at one point. “Fine, tomorrow afternoon. But that’s it.” you say, watching his face light up.
Saturday, October 17, 2020
“Don’t let go, Sunghoon. I SAID DON’T LET GO.” You shout, as he laughs.
“Y/n, just relax. You know this. I’m letting go now.”
“SUNGHOON!” you shout. Your legs bent and you stand in place, too scared to move. You watch as he takes your hand and guides you around the rink. The nostalgia comes rushing back. The wind in your face, the feeling of your feet gliding across the ice like nothing, it had been so long. Before you realize it, you had let go of Sunghoon and gone way ahead of him. Looking back, you find him smiling at you. You remember this feeling, and you loved it.
You’d definitely got your love of skating from your mom. Being the daughter of a professional skater, it had been your dream to be like her. She was and always will be your role model. When you had quit skating you wondered if she’d be disappointed in you for quitting, but thoughts of her always flooded your mind and you could never focus on the task at hand. You knew your mom would never be disappointed in you, but you were disappointed in you.
It had been half an hour of skating and an all too familiar voice calls out to you.
“Y/n!”
“Mom?” you say in response. You look back, no one. Not soon after, your breathing gets heavy, the world starts spinning and the nostalgia of the rink gets washed over by spots of black, your head was pounding. You keep looking. Where was she? Why was this happening? You wanted to hug her. Was she proud of you? Upset that you didn’t skate anymore? Why did she leave you? Before you know it, you could feel Sunghoon holding you on the floor before going unconscious.

“Y/n, I’m so sorry.” Sunghoon says, clutching your hand while kneeling next to your bed.
“Sunghoon, I’m fine. It’s not your fault.”
“BUT IT IS! I asked you to skate with me and now you’re hurt.”
“I’m not hurt. It’s okay.” you say as you rub the back of his hand with your thumb. You look at the clock. 7pm. It was the next day. “Don’t you have practice? Let’s go.”
“What do you mean let’s go?!? You just woke up??” Sunghoon utters in a panic.
“Yeah, which means I’m energized. I need to make sure you don’t stay there for too long and hurt yourself too.” you say, standing up to shoo Sunghoon out so you can change. “Wait on the couch,”
A few moments later you both were out the door and on the bus to the ice rink.
“I’m not going to stay for long then. I don’t want you to be out for too long.” He decides.
“That’s fine.”
Tumblr media
The noise Sunghoon’s skates made as they hit the ice and the chilly air gave you comfort as you watched him run through his routine. Running his fingers through his hair, your eyes follow him wherever he went. He knew you were watching, which was why he was putting on his best performance. The both of you had never felt butterflies for each other like the way you did now. Before you knew it, the two of you were falling hard.
“Y/n, let’s go now.” Sunghoon says as his chest rises up and down, panting from his last run.
“Okay, you did good today.” You compliment him as you walk to the bus. His hand accidentally bumps into yours. You desperately wished that he had gone to hold yours, but he was just your best friend. Nothing more. The ride was filled with a comfortable silence. You stared out the window while Sunghoon stared at you. Feeling his gaze on you, you turn to look at him only for him to turn away and pretend like he was looking the other way. Having spent almost everyday for the past ten years with Sunghoon, you guys never needed to talk constantly, having each other there was just enough to have a great day.
You get off together, but Sunghoon was acting suspiciously jittery. He walks you home, but you see him turn the opposite direction of your house once you’re inside. Weird.
Alone, Sunghoon gets back on the bus. His home was close enough to walk from your house, though. “What was he doing?”, you thought.
Arriving at his destination, Sunghoon sighs as he puts a hand up to his backpack strap.
“Name?” the receptionist asks.
“Park Sunghoon.”
“Sunghoon! I’m sorry to see you back. You’ve grown so well. The doctor is ready for you in room 306. Good luck!”
In and out of hospitals ever since the seventh grade, twelve year old Sunghoon stands in the dark hospital hallway, watching his parents cry in the moonlit lobby. He didn’t have much time left, he thought.
Trudging through the all too familiar hallways, Sunghoon makes a left turn and opens the fourth door to the right. He knew this place like the back of his hand.
“Hey Sunghoon! Welcome back! Just take a seat over there and I’ll start preparing to run some tests and then we’ll talk about starting your physical therapy.” The doctor says in a way too cheerful voice.
“That sound’s good. Thank you.” Sunghoon replies. Hearing the sound of the door clicking shut, Sunghoon sat deep in thought. He wanted to skate with you again, but he was worried about your health. Just one more time. That was what he wanted. The glimmer in your eyes, you huge yet adorable smile. He wanted to see it again.
Next Saturday, October 24, 2020
The day started out hectic but you finally found your seat in the stands. You waited for them to announce Sunghoon. Alas, he came gliding out and the crowd was already cheering. Before he starts his eyes search for you, smile widening when his eyes finally meet with yours. Although he had other passions, like skating, his favorite one would always be you. The music starts and the audience quiets down. You had probably seen this routine over 100 times, but something about the setting, the mood, made it seem like a whole new dance. Every move he made drew you further in. He pushed the audience to the edge of their seats leaving them in awe. It was all for you. Everything about him at that moment was brilliant. Once he ends, the audience roars and Sunghoon, not surprisingly, ends up winning. Of course he won. He was your Sunghoon.
You make a beeline towards the performers’ hall and jump onto Sunghoon’s back, accidentally hitting his face with the flowers you had purchased a few moments before.
“Y/n, I told you to stop buying me these. They’re a waste of money.” Sunghoon giggles, happy to see you. You’d had always brushed them off as a pretty reward for a pretty performer, but there had always been a separate meaning behind the red tulips you give him. They would always end up in your home, in the glass vase next to the couch. A gift from your father to your mother, every Friday. Red tulips, the symbol of true love.
“Alright, I need to go change, wait here.” he says, leaving you behind.
An hour goes by and you were starting to get a bit worried. You knock on his changing room door. Nothing. Did he leave without you? You knock on the door again, and nothing. Opening the door, your eyes widen and you let out a gasp. Sunghoon had fainted due to exhaustion and the blood from his head injury had stained the floor.
You call the ambulance and thankfully they arrive quickly. Refusing to leave Sunghoon’s side, you watch as the nurses wrap bandages around his head. This had been the first time you’d seen Sunghoon like this. Was it happening often? Did he not get enough sleep last night?
“Sunghoon, I’m glad to see you’re awake. You passed out from exhaustion again and we’ve handled your head injury. You’re free to go anytime.” The doctor says.
“Again?”  you ask.
“Yeah, but only a long time ago. You don’t need to worry about it.” Sunghoon says. “My parents have been overreacting and making me get routine tests, though.”
As a kid, you hated going to the hospital, and Sunghoon knew that. It was bland, it was boring, but most of all it’s the place you lost your mother. You hated the hospital. You’d come almost every month, week even, watching them run tests on your mom, prescribe her what seemed to be like hundreds of different medications, it was terrible. Losing your parent to cancer was not fun. No more skating, no more family days, no more cheering at competitions. Your family dinners turning to just you and your dad, and then just you. Referring to your parents as my “parent,”. Learning how to live life without the person you cherished most. It seemed like your life revolved around that retched place you called the hospital.
The rain poured and thunder boomed through the quiet hospital. He had sent you home before it rained, not wanting you to get wet and sick from the cold. Sunghoon sat still and thought to himself in his bed. “I see, so I’ve passed out again,” he thinks.
Monday, October 26, 2020
The chair screeches across the floor as Sunghoon drags it to your desk.
“Y/nnnnnnn” he whines, seeing you eat your gummy worms.
“No.”
“But I’m hungryyyy” he cries. You roll your eyes, placing one in his hand. You watch as he holds one side close to his mouth as if he was waiting for something.
“Sunghoon, what are you doing?” you ask.
“Bite the other side” he says, causing your face to go red.
“No”
“yes”
“no”
“why not?” he says with his best attempt at puppy eyes and a pout.
“why?” you ask, hoping he hasn’t noticed your tomato red face yet
“cause I want to. we can lady and tramp it.” he says. “you know you want to.”
“I’m not going to lady and tramp a gummy worm with you. eat it or i’m taking it back.” you argue.
“Fine, but I have a proposal.” he announces. “I want to enter the next competition with you. Just one. Give me one more duet before you quit for good.”
“no,” you reply. “I’m never skating again.”
“Why not? You love it”
“Why do you want me to skate so badly?” you ask. He didn’t know what to say. He couldn’t tell you the real reason. He couldn’t tell you he was dying, that was a huge no.
“I miss being able to skate with my best friend. I feel so lonely.” he says, puppy eyes resurfacing.
“I’ll think about it then.”
“Good. Meet me at the ice rink on Saturday at 10am” he exclaims before getting up to go back to his desk.
“I haven’t even agreed.”
“Oops I can’t hear you!” he says as you roll your eyes.
Saturday, October 31, 2020
Little you steps off the ice as tears threatened to pour out of your eyes. Running out of the rink into the changing room, you latch on to your mother.
“Mommy, I’m not gonna win,” you say. Her hand comes up to run her fingers through your hair. She coos at you until your breathing has relaxed.
“Why don’t you think you’d win, honey? I loved watching you out there. You were so beautiful.” she says.
“I fell on the ice! Winners don’t do that. I wanted to win just like you.” you manage to sniffle out. You feel your mother give you a kiss on the forehead before kneeling and holding both of your hands.
“Ah, you see, my love, they do! Mommy fell all the time! She still falls! I promise you no winner has never fallen. Mommy only wins because she knows what it’s like to fall! Even if you don’t win, mommy is very proud of you, okay?” she says.
You bolt up from your sleep. It was just a dream. Scrunching your face, holding back the tears that threatened to spill out, you force yourself to get ready for the day, not giving any time to be sad and reminisce.
You enter the complex, Sunghoon standing at the entrance of the rink, impatiently waiting for you. He was so excited. This was going to work out for him. You both walk to the bleachers to satrt lacing your skates, Sunghoon practically bouncing off the walls.
“Aw man, I forgot my hair tie” you complain. Sunghoon pauses lacing his boots and holds his arm out to you.
“Here” Sunghoon says as you look at the extra hair tie on his wrist.
“Why do you have these.” you ask.
“You always forget.” he says, unsurprised.
“Awwww you were thinking of me?” you teased.
“Of course, idiot. Did you forget? I’m never not thinking of you” Sunghoon argued, wallking away, leaving you dumbfounded and blushing like a tomato.
Once again you step into the rink. You were stronger this time. Taking a deep breath you start to glide across the ice once again. It was very unsettling, though. Being on the ice, having fainted the last time you were here. Both you and Sunghoon were on edge, but you were determined to help him win this competition.
The day was filled with talking with your instructor, cleaning up your spins and jumps, and getting back to where you were before. You were getting it and you showed no signs of panic. Sunghoon was so proud of you. YOU were proud of you.
Sunghoon was happy, and he was hopeful. On his walk home all his thoughts were filled with you. Loving you ever since the seventh grade, when he found out he had an illness. He had decided never to tell you, fearing his time would come and leave you alone, but it was too late now. He didn’t want to push you away, you were his ride or die. His heart ached, he didn’t want to say goodbye. He didn’t want you to have to live alone.
Opening the door to his home, he walks through the hallway, leaning against the wall limping to his room. Every big event Sunghoon would write you a letter, and so tonight he poured his heart out onto this piece of paper, tears staining his face.
Sunday, November 1, 2020
On Sunday, you show up to his house unexpectedly but not surprisingly. “Sunghoon, get dressed. We’re going to the market.” you say. Without question, he does as you ask and you both head to the market in no time.
Walking down the ice cream aisle, you grab all the flavors you enjoy, filling your whole basket with different ice creams, toppings, fruit, drinks, and even a cake. “You’re quite hungry, aren’t you?” Sunghoon teases, earning him a slap to the arm.
As soon as you get home, you send Sunghoon alone to his bedroom, telling him you need time to prepare everything. You had pulled all the stops, whipping out the cheap snoopy shaved ice maker, birthday party hats, streamers, balloons, and banners. It was no one’s birthday in particular, but the fake birthday party put you in a festive and refreshing mood. You had set up a giant ice cream sundae bar, and had even made lemonade.
Calling Sunghoon to come out of the bedroom, he was not surprised but very impressed. Wanting to make it even more fun, he suggests to make sundaes for one another, which you happily agree to. The day was so fun, and it was hardly possible, but Sunghoon had fallen in love with you even more.
Sunghoon was so happy that you planned something like this. He was never one to do anything cute for you unless you begged, so this time he wanted to show you how grateful he was to you by giving you one FREE boop on the nose. Scooping some ice cream with his fingertip, he lightly taps your nose, leaving the melted strawberry ice cream to drip off your nose. You turn to look at him in disgust, eventually dipping your finger in the ice cream and starting a war.

You acted like you didn’t care, but you were so worried. What could’ve happened? Why couldn’t he remember? Even when bed ridden, he still managed to get you to fall head over heels.
Tumblr media
That afternoon, you arrive at the hospital, finding Sunghoon playing video games while lying in bed. You chuckled. Even with head bandages and an IV drip, he still managed to be his teenage boyish self.
“Y/n! Today was so boring. Can we take a walk in the garden, I’m sick of being here.” he asks, to which you reluctantly agreed.
During your stroll you talked about anything and everything, a common activity you both did.
“How was school today? Did you miss me?” Sunghoon asks cheekily.
“I did actually. I didn’t realize how much time I spend with you until today.” you respond. “But, it was okay. I got your gummy worms and some other snacks too. I know you hate hospital food.”
“Well I missed you too, there was no one but the staff to bother.” He chuckles. “You know, I’m not always going to be around to help you.”
“I know, but we have time.”
Before you knew it, the sun was setting and Sunghoon sent you home so you didn’t have to walk alone in the dark. On his walk back to his room, Sunghoon worried. The thing was, you didn’t have time. The fact that you missed him in just a few hours? How would you feel about forever? He never wanted you to have bad days, let alone be the one to cause them.
Walking through the hallways he trips and falls. Landing on his knees. He tried to get up, but he couldn’t. Why wouldn’t his legs move? He punched his leg. Nothing. Again. It was no use. He had lost feeling in his legs. Tears start pouring out of his eyes. Move, it’s just your leg. Get up. Move. Water droplets fall from his face as he bangs his fist on the floor. Why can’t he move. Eventually he gives up, dragging himself back to his room with his arms. They hurt. His heart hurt. Everything hurt. Was this it?
Tuesday, November 3, 2020
After last night’s events, Sunghoon felt out of it. He wouldn’t be able to go back to school for a while, the nurses claiming that if it happens again the situation can be way worse. He couldn’t skate anymore. He couldn’t see YOU skate anymore. This was it. His illness was getting to him.
With a knock on the door, Sunghoon falls right out of his daze and watches as you come in with another bag of goodies.
“I brought you some stuff from the convenience store.” You say, taking out a bottle of green tea and handing it to him. He reaches out to grab it but as soon as you let go the bottle slips out of his hands.
Ah, so it’s spreading to my arms too, he thinks as he realizes he was too weak to grip the bottle. The doctors told his parents last night that surgery was an option, but it would only give him a little more time, but he wanted to take it. He wanted to be able to skate a little longer. He wanted to make it to the competition.
“I’m in the mood to watch all the Studio Ghibli movies in one sitting.” Sunghoon says as he leans his head back.
“Scoot over,” you reply, getting up to sit in his bed with him. “Good thing I brought my laptop.”
“Are you sure? That’s gonna be like all night.” He asks.
“Of course, I’m always in the mood for you,” you say as Sunghoon wraps an arm around you, prepared for the whole night of cuddling and movie watching.
Half way through the marathon you feel Sunghoon nuzzle his face into your neck. His soft snoring tickled you. You bring your hand up to stroke his hair. Park Sunghoon, I am so in love with you, you think.  Your smile. Your eyes. Your lips. Your hair. Your voice. You teasing. The way you say my name. The way you stare at me. The way you talk. The way you smile at me. The way my day isn’t complete without you. I love you.
Wednesday, November 4, 2020
The next day was supposed to be better. Sunghoon was going to see you and you were gonna get him more gummy worms. Sitting up with him on his bed, you were cuddling, and he seemed to be getting paler and paler by the minute. He seemed really tired, like he was sick to his stomach.
You got up to go get him a drink from the vending machine, and as you came back nurses and doctors were rushing in and out of your best friend’s room. Your heart feels like it’s going to beat out of it’s chest and you run to his room. Sunghoon was clutching onto the sides of the bed, doctors scrambling to get the defibrillator going. His heart had stopped.
You’d later learn that he had gone into cardiac arrest, and you watched as the nurses wheeled his bed to the ICU. But the surgery didn’t work, and he didn’t survive. You felt numb. Stretching out a trembling arm, you took hold of Sunghoon’s hand. You shut your eyes and squeezed his palm. It was cold. Your  hand trembled harder with each passing second, as if the movement would cause Sunghoon to wake up. Your face buried into the crook of his neck. You nudged the bridge of your nose against the cool skin. Your lips brushed against his collarbone in desperate search of that familiar warmth. Both hands had clasped around Sunghoon’s, quavering without pause. Devastation weighed down on you. It was a surreal feeling, one that you could never in one million years describe. It squeezed you, threatening to crush you from the inside out. The pain seared itself into your soul, hindering him, rendering him speechless to a point where he no longer knew what words were. A sob wretched its way out from your throat. You tried desperately to hold it in. Tried so hard to keep yourself together, but you knew you were too weak to pull such a bluff. Once the second sob had left you, you felt yourself spiraling. There was no hiding it.
The doctor comes to hand you a letter. Weakly reaching out, you read it right away. You were desperate. You needed to hear something from Sunghoon, anything.
Dear Y/n,
HI BESTIE, I know I write you one of these every big event, but I’m afraid this might be my last. I’m sorry if you’re getting the before the competition. I desperately wanted to skate with you, but I guess if you’re reading this then my time has come. I hope you’re doing okay. I don’t want you to miss me too much. Please keep skating. I love watching you skate, more than anything. You look so happy, so carefree. I want you to live like that always. It’s a lot to ask, I know, but I don’t want you to associate something you love so much with sadness. I’m with your mom now, and we’re rooting for you. Always.
I know it was pretty obvious, but I love you. Actually, that’s an understatement. I’m so in love with you that my heart hurts when I’m not with you. I’m in love with you. And I love that I’m in love with you. I love the feelings. The happiness when I think of you, the butterflies when you text me, the excitement I get when I know I’ll get to see you. It’s amazing. And you’re amazing, and I love you. And I’m sorry I had to keep so many secrets. I’m sorry I couldn’t make it to the competition. I’m sorry for not telling you about my illness. I didn’t want you to carry this burden with me. You’re the light of my life, Y/n. I love you.
Love,
your bestie, sunghoon.

Lucifer
What a wonderful selection for this kind of relationship because this demon is loaded! You need not worry about asking for too much. Whatever your heart's desire, Lucifer can provide.
HOWEVER… He's not a very generous demon. Every cent that he gives you, you will have to earn. The man isn't in the business of giving handouts, even to cuties like yourself.
Lucifer can be a demanding Sugar Daddy for sure. He will expect you to be ready for him at the drop of a hat. One text, one call, even a passing mention of your name, and you should be there. No questions asked or you will be punished.
It pays to be astute with Lucifer, too. If you're good, then he shouldn't even have to command you. One step in the room and you should know just what to do and how he's going to want it. Though remember, even if he doesn't say much, he's in control here.
There will be times where he's not looking for a little release and just needs some relaxation. You'll, of course, be expected to provide for that too: back rubs, tea, and pleasant conversation are all options you should get acquainted with very quickly.
Understand this now, anything short of perfection is not tolerated. If he's taking you anywhere, you're going to have to look/be amazing Every. Time. He'll make sure you'll have everything for it, but there's going to be no slacking off with him. Ever.
If you're looking to satisfy Lucifer, you won't just be a side piece or arm candy. You will be a trophy and he will spoil you like one.
Mammon
So maybe you don't like your Sugar Daddy with a lot of cash, but just the inability to say "no" to you in nearly any capacity…? Then Mammon's is your perfect pick!
True, it may not be wise to choose a Sugar Daddy who seems chronically without sugar to give but if there's any gambler in you then Mammon can be a near constant rush.
His highs are your highs, if he's out gambling then he'll want you on his arm or in his lap for good luck. Cheer him on and sprinkle in a bit of teasing because he's positive he makes better bets when he feels on top of the world.
If he makes a killing, then it's an all night celebration. He may even cover you in the Grimm just to enjoy how it looks. You won't stay like that very long though, because he'll need to have his way with you quite a few times before the sun comes up.
Don't fret, most of that money that he makes is going to go towards you anyway. You won't have to worry about him putting his bills over his Sugar (even if it's ill-advised).
Do remember that Mammon is a cheapskate at heart, but you shouldn't have any trouble bypassing that if there's something you want. Flash him some big, watery eyes and he'll cave every time until he goes broke again...
And then his lows are your lows… But if you still show him kindness and compassion even when he's flat broke, we guarantee he will never leave your side.
Leviathan
Are you an otaku/gamer/geek who wants copious amounts of that sweet, sweet merch and a little love on the side? Then you also want Levi.
Just know that this demon is desperate for love in his life so you'll be busy on most days. Levi needs to be lavished in attention: cuddles, pets, kisses, and probably more sex than you can process. He's veeery pent up...
Thankfully, he stays in his room all the time so you can do whatever you like away from prying eyes! Which is good, because he tends to get adventurous when he's confident. There won't be a spot in his room you two have not been before.
Like Mammon, Levi's going to need a cheerleader as much as he does a lover. Nothing is quite like starting a competitive match with someone very vocally in your corner.
We do hope you like anime, video games, or general geekry because he won't tolerate indifference. You need not have memorized the entirety of the TSL Extended Compendium, but you should at least be able to identify his favorite characters or scenes in anything he watches. You won't last long otherwise.
If you can then consider the entirety of Akuzon's wares to be yours. You'll only need to ask. If there's any particular series that you enjoy, expect its merch to be gifted to you whenever he sees it. He'll have very little self-control (especially if it's all for you).
Truthfully, we have no idea where Levi gets his money so just don’t question how he keeps buying you so many things... It's probably some shady cryptocurrency or black market type stuff so we recommend you stay out of his finances, lest you learn something you regret...
Satan
Ah, an intellectual are you? Not satisfied with just a fancy new car or a designer handbag? Do you need the very best that the world has to offer? The most beautiful, artistic, and thought-provoking goods you can find?? Then really your only choice is Satan.
… But do you like pets? We sincerely hope you like pets…
In truth, Satan will want two things from you: some stimulating conversation and a little pet play.
This is very much a "gentleman by day" arrangement. He'll be sure to treat you to very nice things all the time: wine tastings, art shows, even red carpet events thanks to his connections.
He won't mind taking you anywhere as long as you can engage that brain of his. Abstract conversations or discussions about hard topics will earn you even better trips the next time around...
But "by night" you will have a nickname, a collar, and probably a tail plug too. This man is bound and determined to have a cat and he does not care how.
If the idea of crawling for him makes you want to save face then don't worry. You needn't be an obedient kitty, not even for him.
In fact, he'd much prefer you act out from time to time because if there's one thing he likes more than cats, it's brats. Be cute for him and maybe he'll go easy on you if you like.
Asmodeus
Do you like shopping? Just, the act of shopping in general? Do you want someone who won't just sign a check but shop with you? Asmo's the man.
He loves shopping and he loves shopping for you! He won't just stand outside the dressing room on his phone, he'll be a very active participant in making you happy.
A veeerrry active participant… Everywhere… Probably including that dressing room…
You need to understand now that Asmo is insatiable. Whatever you believe a high sex drive is, double it and then you will get Asmo on a Tuesday.
He's giving. Very giving in fact, in money and in bed, but that won't change that he is a monster. His stamina is unreal, his desire is unmatched, and assuming that you are not an incarnation of Aphrodite herself You. Will. Not. Keep. Up.
If you choose to be with Asmo it will be a hellish bliss. You will be pampered like royalty on a sea of euphoria until the tide overtakes you and you drown.
If this warning isn't enough to dissuade you, we wish you the best of luck. Asmo may bring you to the greatest highs of your life, but he very much can be the death of you too...
Beelzebub
You know, food can be expensive. Especially if you have a bit of an appetite… If an endless food supply is what you're after, then you need Beel in your life!
He'll always be down to go out and try new foods or take you to whatever restaurant you like (provided he's eating there too, of course).
Considering the amount that he eats there's no way you can top his bill so order as much as you like! You'll get through what? Four? Five courses? He'll get cut off around 12.
Restaurants aside, food will be mostly what Beel expects from you so we do hope you like cooking. Cuddles and kisses are well and good but this demon needs to eat.
Speaking of which… Truthfully, being with Beel is almost just like a normal relationship but there's just one catch….
Beel is practically an oral addict. He will want to get a taste of you and once he does you ought to resign yourself to being his new fix.
A session with Beel is not for the faint of heart. He can be down there for hours and won't stop even if you're a drooling, overstimulated wreck. His aftercare is sweet but it's a hell of a journey getting there. Be warned.
Belphegor
So maybe all these other options just sound like too much work... You want a Sugar Daddy, but someone who's on the laidback side, right? Introducing Belphegor.
Belphie is a man of simple pleasures. A quiet afternoon, a long nap, and maybe a game or some mischief in the middle of the night. You won't have to worry about doing very much because he won't be conscious very long...
He will, however, get his money's worth in the hours that he's awake.
Belphegor is a lazy soul, so don't expect him to put much work into things. His favorite tactic will be to get you so frustrated that you jump him. Then he can just sit back and enjoy the fun with a smug smile on his face…
If you're not riding him in some way then you're probably going to be his new pillow. He will find a way to sleep on you in every position possible until he finds a favorite and just sticks to that.
As far as what he offers, Belphie will pretty much just toss money in your direction and leave it up to you to spend it. He’s not a shopping man...
In the rare cases that he does go out and buy you a gift take it as a compliment. You’ve motivated him to leave the House for longer than twenty minutes so you must be exactly what he was after.

leave everything behind but me- part 1 (diane sherman x fem!reader)
Tumblr media
Warnings: Diane is still extremely dangerous, TW for stalking, drugs, and illness (also brief vomit mention), hurt/comfort with a bit more hurt, this series may end up going in an NSFW direction but there isn’t any here, I really don’t know exactly where it’s going.
AU where pretty much everything in the movie is the same except the very last scene. Diane gets out of jail but isn’t able to find or contact Chloe. This is gonna be a series and probably way too long (I’m already writing part 2). Also I know there are a lot of Diane fics that are like this, sorry about that. But this is really fun to write so oh well.
Summary: You finally got the courage to run away and start a new life. Diane gets out of jail. She can’t find Chloe, but created a bond with another girl, you. And she would never, ever lose you. After all, you need her.
You were finally doing this. You were leaving your home behind and never looking back. You never had a good relationship with your parents, and now that you had graduated High School your parents were constantly threatening to kick you out. So instead, you decided to just leave. You had found a town on the east coast (across the country from your home state) and you had saved all your money from your job for the bus tickets, and found a roommate online, Anna. until you had finally announced to your parents that you were moving out. They acted relieved, like a huge burden was just taken off of their plate. But you knew they were secretly upset that they no longer would have someone to blame every inconvenience on.
You sat on the bus, listening to music and looking out the window. You noticed a silver minivan that happened to have been following you almost all day and on two different buses. You wondered where the driver of the minivan was going. Maybe whoever the driver was was running away too, but was lucky enough to have a car.
The bus stopped in Chicago, about halfway to your destination, and you had an eight hour layover that you had to manage to stay awake for despite the fact that you hadn’t slept in the past 24 hours. You decided to go to a cafe that was next to the bus station to get some coffee to pass the time and keep you up.
“I’ll just have a large coffee with cream and 1 sugar, please.”
“Great! That’ll be three-fifty.”
You searched in your wallet before realizing that you were completely out of cash that wasn’t going towards your bus ticket or room.
“...never mind”
“Hey, I can pay for you, don’t worry about it.” Said the woman standing behind you.
“Oh, you don’t have to-”
“Don’t worry, its no big deal. Just come and sit with me.”
You had time. Besides, you wanted someone to talk to and this woman was quite attractive.
“Sure. Thank you.”
The woman ordered and led you to a table.
“So, what’s your name?”
“I’m (y/n). And you?”
You heard the barista say “Two coffees for Diane?” and the woman got up
“I guess that answers that?” you said.
Diane walked over to get the coffees and stirred in the cream and sugar into both of them.
She gave you one of the coffees and said “Yes, my name is Diane Sherman. Are you from around here?”
“Oh no, I’m from the west coast. I’m on a bus trip, moving across the country. Fresh start, you know. And you?”
“I have been too, actually. Well, except I’ve been driving. Why do you need a fresh start?”
“My parents and I have a rough relationship. I just graduated High School and I didn’t feel like there was a reason to stay. What about you?”
“I’m sorry about that, (y/n). I actually lost my daughter recently, I’ve been incredibly lonely. I’m hoping for a new start, and some new connections.”
“I’m sorry to hear that Diane, that’s terrible.” You wondered what happened to her daughter, but thought it was best not to pry into this woman’s life.
“I’ll get through it. Maybe I’ll find someone else I can take care of. Someone who really needs it.”
Diane asked you more questions about your family, life, interests, everything. You felt like this woman had a genuine interest in you that you never felt from anyone else. You liked it. But as you talked you realized that the coffee wasn’t waking you up, if anything you felt even more tired. Maybe you just had to wait.
“I haven’t slept in so long, I’m so tired. Thank you for getting this coffee for me. It was nice to meet you, Diane.” You said, sad that your paths may never cross again.
“(Y/n), wait.”
You turned back to her.
“I have an idea. I have a motel room with two beds for tonight. Why don’t you sleep there and we forget about the buses, you can just ride with me.”
“Where are you going?”
“I’ve bought a house and I’m going there, but I can take you wherever you’d like, there’s no rush. I understand you may be suspicious as a younger woman when an older person asks you to ride with them and stay in their hotel room but I promise I only ask because, well honestly, I’m lonely and need someone to take care of.”
It was probably the sleep deprivation, but you believed her. You got into her silver minivan and drove to a nearby motel. When you got in the room you immediately dropped all your stuff and flopped down onto the bed, exhausted.
“Hey, sweetie, you can shower in the morning if you want to but you should at least change into pajamas.” said Diane. You found the energy to take your clothes off and put on an oversized t-shirt as you listened to Diane sing in the shower. You fell asleep to the sounds of the running shower and the older woman’s slightly off-key singing.
When you woke up, Diane was reading and sipping some coffee. You noticed she had also gotten you one.
“Morning, sweetheart. Now, I’m not in much of a rush to get out of here so just take your time. Drink your coffee and then take a shower, alright?”
“Sounds good!” You said, starting to drink your coffee.
“Great. I’m looking forward to spending more time with you, (y/n). I think maybe we were destined to meet. You without loving parents and me, in desperate need of someone to love and care for.”
“Maybe..”
You couldn’t explain why, but you did like this strange woman. She seemed kind, and she was very pretty, which couldn’t have hurt. The only reason you said yes to her last night was because you needed sleep so badly but now that you were fully rested, you couldn’t say you regretted it. You walked to the shower and felt a bit lightheaded. While you were in the shower you started to feel weak and you finally fell over.
As soon as she heard the thud of your body to the shower floor, Diane ran into the bathroom.
“(Y/N)? What happened? Are you ok?”
“I... I fell... I don’t know why.” You said, a bit embarrassed of the woman seeing your naked body like this
“Ok, let’s get you dried off and dressed, then I think we have to get some food into you.” and Diane helped you up, helped you dry off and took out your most comfortable-looking clothes and put them on you. This whole thing made you feel like a child, but you almost didn’t mind. It’s not like you’ve ever been taken care of like this before.
“Lean on me if you need to, I’ll come back for the luggage after you’re in the car.” You held onto Diane’s arm all the way to the front seat of the car.
“Just wait here, okay love?”
She got both your suitcase and hers and but them back in the car. You noticed that her suitcase that was in your room was not the only one she had, and she in fact had several suitcases, and lots of bags. She was older and more established than you, of course she had more things than you did.
She drove until you found a diner where the two of you could get breakfast. She helped you out of the car and told her to at least hold her hand while you walked.
“I’m sorry you’re feeling this way, maybe eating something will make you feel better.”
“Yeah, I hope so. I’ve never felt like this before, I really hope I’m not sick.”
“I don’t think that’s it.”
While you ate you talked, and Diane gave you a pill that she said might make you feel better. You took it and you did start feeling a little bit better.
“Is it working? Do you feel ready to go?”
“I think so”
And so you left the diner with Diane feeling a little bit better. She kept her hands on you to guide you as you went to the car, just in case.
“I’m ok now. But thanks, Diane.”
“Of course.” She grabbed your hand for a second and smiled at you and your heart skipped a beat. Why did you feel this way?
Diane drove for several hours until you fell asleep again. When she woke you up you were in a hotel parking lot in a small town you didn’t recognize.
“Where are we?”
“I think we’re somewhere in central Pennsylvania. We have a lot more driving to do, but it’s getting late. Let’s get some dinner and get you to bed.”
That night was relaxing and easy. Diane ordered room service and you ate while sitting on her bed together and watching a movie. The two of you began to cuddle and you ended up falling asleep in the older woman’s arms. When you stirred early the next morning she was still holding you.
When you woke up for real, Diane brought you some coffee.
Diane got back on the road and she asked you where you planned on staying. You told her you were going to stay with a girl named Anna who you talked to online. As the car ride progressed, the weak feeling you had the other day started to come back.
“That’s ok. You can stay with me tonight if you want.”
“You really don’t have to-”
“Yes, I do. I want to make sure you’re ok, let me take care of you.” You figured that if Diane were dangerous, she would have tried to do something to you by now since you’ve basically been alone with her for almost two days. How bad could it be?
It turned out that the house Diane lived very close to Anna anyway, so you decided why not.
You drove another seven or so hours from the hotel all the way to a small house in a very cute little town not too far from where you had planned on settling in.
“This is it.”
You got out of the car and brought your stuff into the house. It was a cute, small place that was already furnished. You and Diane both looked around. There were two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a living room and kitchen.
“It’s a good thing I got a two-bedroom, I guess. You can stay here as long as you’d like.”
“Thank you”“
“I’m gonna go out and bring some more stuff in and then I’ll make us some tea, does that sound good?”
“Sure.”
The two of you sat on the couch and talked while you drank the tea Diane made you. The tea didn’t taste bad, but it didn’t taste like anything you’ve had before. You told her more about your family life after she asked.
“Your parents were so lucky,” said Diane, who was getting a bit emotional, “to have a child as healthy and beautiful and sweet as you. There are so many people who would give anything to have what your parents took for granted.”
“I don’t know, maybe it is my fault. Maybe I was just a bad kid. Maybe I was hard to like, or dumb, or-”
“I don’t think you’re any of those things. And I’m sorry that you believe that, because it’s not true.”
“You think so?”
“I do.”
You went to bed that night in your room and Diane in hers. When you woke up you felt weak and sick to your stomach. You guessed that Diane was wrong and you were in fact coming down with something.
“Diane!” You felt bad for possibly waking her up, but you’d feel even worse if you threw up on the sheets, and you didn’t know if you could make it to the bathroom. So you did it. She immediately came running to you.
“Are you ok, sweetie? What’s wrong?”
“I think I’m sick. Do you have a bucket or something?”
“Yes. Just one second.”
She left and very quickly brought back a bucket for you.
“I hope I haven’t gotten you sick too.”
“Don’t worry about that, I rarely get sick. Just let me take care of you.”
And you did. For the next few days as she looked for teaching jobs she nursed you back to health. Well, almost-health, at least. You weren’t having stomachaches or throwing up anymore but you still felt weak. She gave you pills and lots of them, and some might have had some bad side effects. All the pain medication she gave you almost had a numbing effect on your body. Anna had completely stopped responding to you and you worried she didn’t want to be roommates anymore, not like you could be on your own right now anyway in the state you were in. You needed Diane to take care of you. She was being interviewed for a position as a science teacher at the local High School but other than working on all of the application material she had all the free time in the world to be with you.
“Anna said she found another roommate.”
“Hey, don’t worry about that alright? You’re still sick and I really don’t mind you just... staying here and living with me. Besides, I really think I’m going to get this job and if I do I’ll easily be able to support the both of us.”
“Diane, you don’t have to... I applied for some jobs already.”
“None of which you can do when you’re sick, now please lie back down. I know you feel bad for letting me take care of you and baby you so much, but you don’t have to. I’ve already told you that I like having someone to take care of. And I know you like it when I take care of you too.”
And you hated to admit it, but she was right. Despite how horrible you felt physically, you enjoyed your time with Diane. You started doing a lot of fun things together. You both enjoyed yourselves, and Diane sometimes told you that she felt like she had a daughter again. She made you feel loved. You still had your own bed, but you often fell asleep on the couch or in Diane’s bed while the two of you cuddled.
“I love you, (y/n). My baby.” Diane said as you started to drift off on the couch with her that night.

Shy (Part Two)
Warnings: LOTS of manipulation, yandere themes, Jimin is possessive and petty, Jimin really will end up getting y/n fired one of these days..., anxiety, panicking, fear of abandonment, mentions of abuse, Jimin has pretty violent thoughts in regard to jungkook, violence, pressuring, manipulation again because really that’s the whole thing...
How to deal with your clingy cat hybrid: a guide by Y/n
5.5K
Part one
Tumblr media
There were two main reasons Jimin didn’t like showers or baths. It had absolutely nothing to do with his feline genes, despite what you seemed to think. Jimin was perfectly fine with water, except for when he was already dressed, then it was very irritating. He did not like rain much.
But the showers themselves, the warm, heated showers, they were alright. He might’ve enjoyed them if not for two terrible problems. Jimin snuggled into your pillow, staring miserably at the bathroom door. He’d moved your pillow with him when he rolled over earlier. As always, you’d woken up before him. He breathed in the scent you’d left after resting on this very pillow, his tail swishing angrily at the reminder of reason one. Your scent was masked. You’d use stupid products every time you showered, sometimes even going as far as perfume just to spite him.
Though, he supposes he should be glad for the artificial smells. They covered your true scent up for most of the day- most of the day you were, unfortunately, at work. But his scent was also covered up! He spent so much time every day scenting you, it bothered him greatly that you’d go to such lengths to remove it.
Reason number two: you enjoyed taking showers because they’re ‘relaxing’. Jimin could understand why you’d enjoy that, he liked snuggling down and relaxing as well. But apparently what you’d meant by ‘relaxing’ was leaving him to panic alone. That, he did not appreciate.
When he woke up early enough he would delay your shower as much as possible, forcing you to rush through the process. Then, you not only finished faster, but also didn’t quite manage to remove his scent from you, especially with the increasing amount of effort Jimin put into scenting you lately. He was quite proud of his plan.
Today he had not woken up early enough, a great regret. He had struggled to fall asleep at all with your threat of another invading his territory. You kept bringing it up, too. How dare you! Force him to lose sleep, wake up too late to employ his shower plan, and not even apologise. Worse, you still refused to get changed in front of him. Jimin needed to satisfy his curiosity some day, but trying to push the issue hadn’t gone down well. Jimin had been given a long lecture on ‘privacy’ and what was ‘appropriate’. You’d punished him by avoiding him all evening, claiming you had work to do. So despite his displeasure at your secretive nature, he had not brought it up again.
Jimin doesn’t punish you even when you leave him every single day! Even when you torture him! He knew that abandoning people or pets was frowned upon, so why you continued to do so baffled him. Perhaps he should punish you. Not by avoiding though. Something more fun.
You finally exit the bathroom and watch Jimin’s face fall at the sight of you. You’re slightly offended, but you try not to take it personally. You, too, valued your privacy. You could understand his disappointment that you’d interrupted….whatever it was he was doing with that pillow. Sometimes you really wished Jimin was shy, or at least had a sense of shame.
You’d prepared everything else for work and you were ready to leave. Or, that’s what it looked like, at least. Jimin apparently didn’t pay enough attention to tell that you’d been getting up a whole two hours earlier in order to handle his usual behaviour.
Sure enough, as soon as you walk by your bedroom door, he lets out a pathetic whine. You sigh, deciding to check on him just in case. Jimin lays diagonally across the bed, hand resting on his forehead to display suffering like in the animes he’s been watching. You’d failed to tell him they weren’t the most accurate depiction of everyday life.
“What’s wrong?” You ask. You know you shouldn’t let him continue all this, you know he should stop soon, but he’s sure to cause a fuss if you tell him outright. Namjoon finally answered you, though, so there was hope.
“I think I’m sick…” He chokes a sob. Jimin’s not a bad actor, but his narrative becomes a little unbelievable after so many weeks of repetition. The first week, he’d actually told you he was on his period, and that he needed cuddles to stop the bleeding. Suffice to say, you caught on pretty quickly after that.  “Everything hurts, Y/n, please help me….”
“Well how I help depends on what’s wrong? Do you know what it is?” You sit beside him, watching as Jimin freezes, blurting out the first thing he can think of.
“The plague!” He whines, reaching out to grab your hand.
You raise an eyebrow, “That’s quite unlikely.”
“No, no, it’s true!” He defends himself. Jimin had recently joined you to watch a documentary, but it seems he hadn’t been paying much attention at all. “It affects cat hybrids because of the rats! Our ancestors ate lots of plague rats and got infected.” Jimin explains. Well, that had some logic to it, at least. Better than his attempts to convince you he was on his period.
“Well, you’ll just have to go into isolation then.” You tell him.
Jimin sits up straight immediately, “No, no, I think I’m cured. No isolation needed!”
“Isn’t that lucky?” You hum, standing up again.
Jimin stands up with you, trailing right beside you. His hand keeps brushing against yours. Honestly, you’re not sure what’s stopping him from just grabbing it, you know he wants to. “It’s because I’m a hybrid.” He tells you. “We heal faster from cat diseases, since I’m part human, and humans are immune to plague, I healed properly!”
Jimin really hadn’t listened to a word of that documentary, had he? Better question, how stupid did he think you were?
“Jimin, you know, if you eat a lot of vegetables, you don’t get sick.” You tell him as you’re cooking. If Jimin realises it’s past the time you tell him you have to leave, he doesn’t mention it. Of course he doesn’t. Just five minutes before, he’d requested you make him his lunch. Jimin had shown you a recipe he’d found, with an overall time of a whopping three hours. He’d sulked quite a bit when you’d told him you couldn't have it, claiming it was his favourite meal.
Jimin hadn’t read this one either, it seems. You’d asked him if he liked eating vegetables and he’d told you they make him feel sick. Weird for someone who chose a vegetable based dish as their favourite.
“Same for fish!” He’d exclaimed excitedly, sniffing the air more when you brought out the remaining fish in your fridge. Now that, whether Jimin had bothered to check or not, was actually true.
You’d ended up preparing the same thing you usually did for Jimin’s lunch- though, he always ‘got excited’ and ate it straight away, meaning you had to make something else for him right after. That he didn’t get the chance to eat, since you’d be glaring at him the whole time.
While you’d been cooking, Jimin had actually left your side for a few minutes. You’d expected this. Normally he hid your bag and shoes, watching in horror as you pretend to panic about being late for work. Luckily, you’d grown used to this farce as well, preparing a decoy bag. Jimin was normally tucked up in bed with his second ‘illness’ of the day, giving you the time to slip out before he could stop you.
Tumblr media
You know Jimin’s probably going to be sulking about you ditching him earlier, but at least he won’t bring up his fake illness. If he mentions being sick, you’re less likely to cuddle him, he’s realised. Of course, stopping you from going to work is of higher priority than exactly how much you cuddle him.
You’d sorted things out with Namjoon in your break, calling him to finalise the details. Namjoon had offered to give you a lift, and you’d accepted, knowing it would take much less time than the bus journey home. You did have a car. But, rather mysteriously, the tires had recently been punctured. Jimin hadn’t done a very good job of acting upset over it- not until you’d told him how much longer the bus journey was compared to driving yourself. Currently your car was being repaired, so Namjoon’s offer was very helpful. You’d sat in the passenger seat, since Jungkook was napping in the back.
Tumblr media
This was the part you were most wary of. Returning home with two new people...You hoped Jimin wouldn’t be too mad at you. You went inside first, leaving Namjoon to wake Jungkook.
Jimin heard the car pull up, had looked out of the window and seen that there was indeed a car, a car that you stepped out of, and had ran downstairs right away. He got to the front door at around the same time as you; perfect timing for his usual greeting hug. Jimin launched himself at you, nose automatically sniffing at your neck, you know, just in case something happened. While there weren’t any potent scents near your neck, which was definitely a good thing, there was a faint smell of someone he didn’t recognise. It was then that the door opened again.
No one should be coming through, so Jimin was fully justified to hiss at the intruders. He did not understand the need for the warning glare you were giving him. Instead, he nuzzled closer into you so that he couldn’t see the intruders at all. Now, everything in Jimin’s world smelt delightful, and while he couldn't see much besides the cloth of your shirt, it was rather perfect.
“Jimin.” Your voice makes it very hard to suppress the groan he wishes to let put. Perhaps if he did these intruders would understand. Maybe he should… You pull away from him, an involuntary whine escaping his mouth. It sounds pathetic, and he does not want the intruders to think he’s weak. He shuffles behind you slightly, peering over your shoulder to assess what he’s up against. Acting as if he’s shy is the best way to gain your sympathy in this situation.
What Jimin sees is a tall man staring straight at him. Jimin bares his teeth, and watches suspiciously as the man’s lips quirk upwards. Is he laughing? At Jimin? The cat hybrid averts his gaze to the male hidden behind him. His eyes fall to the long ears on his head right away. Jimin pales.
“Jimin, you remember I told you about Jungkook?” Your sweet voice does nothing to quell Jimin’s rage. So this is his rival. The piece of shit you called cute. How mad would you be if he really did disappear?
“Your name is Jimin?” The tall man sends him what’s supposed to be a warm smile. Jimin isn’t stupid, he knows a fake smile when he sees one. “I’m Namjoon, please treat Jungkook well, he doesn’t like strangers.”
Jungkook himself looks as if he wants to say something, but Jimin isn’t too concerned over that. “Neither do I.” Jimin replies instead, gaze pinned on the rabbit.
It’s only when you speak up again that Jimin stops glaring. “Jimin, I know you get lonely when I’m at work,” He nods slowly, not liking where this is going. He hopes you’re not going through with your threat. “And Jungkook’s told me before that he wants to meet new people.” Why had Jungkook told you this? Why had he been talking to you at all? The rabbit doesn’t look like he ever leaves his owner’s side. “So Namjoon and I thought it’d be good if the two of you spent time together while we’re both working.”
You finish speaking, as you gesture for the group to head into the living room. Jimin follows, only growing angrier when he realises that the rabbit will be sat on his third favourite nap chair. His tail swishes at the thought.
Namjoon, after sitting down with his hybrid, begins to speak. Jimin attempts to sit on your lap as he bends down, but you move out of his way at the last second. He ends up on the boring sofa cushion of his first favourite nap chair instead. Everything has been awful ever since that rabbit came in. “I wanted you and Kookie to meet before, just in case there would be any problems.” Jimin narrows his eyes when Namjoon shoots him a sudden glare. How would he know what Jimin wanted to do to the rabbit? “Kookie, do you think you’ll be alright? It’s fine if you’re not, you know that.”
“I want to.” Jungkook nods firmly.
Jimin might’ve made his displeasure too obvious, as Namjoon is doing that half laugh at him again. “What about you, then? You said you don’t like strangers, but my Kookie is nice, isn’t he?”
“I don’t know yet.” Jimin tells him simply. “I don’t like strangers.”
“Ah, of course.” Namjoon nods understandingly. He grins, “Hopefully you’ll get along just as well as him and Y/n.” Jimin has a hard time holding himself back from clawing both of them.
You leave to grab refreshments for everyone, and specifically tell Jimin to stay where he is and talk to the ‘guests’. Jimin sits back down hesitantly, refusing to look at either of the men opposite. Unfortunately, Namjoon strikes up a conversation, again. “Jimin, do you like living with Y/n?” He nods, a little less grumpy if the topic Namjoon wishes to talk about is you. Jimin could talk about you for weeks. Maybe not with him around, though. “She treats you well?”
Jimin nods again, though this one he has to think about. You make a lot of stupid mistakes, and you do a lot of things completely wrong. But you’re only mean to him five days a week, and only for about half the day. “She’s learning.” Is what Jimin tells the man.
Namjoon nods again, and turns to the rabbit, his fingers tracing Jungkook’s ears gently. “Ask him, bunny, I can tell you’re itching to say something.” Jungkook only shakes his head, muttering something Jimin doesn’t bother to listen to.
You’re back!
He perks up, before he notices what you’re carrying. He’s fine with the chicken, he loves the thought of chicken, but why there’s chocolate alongside that he’s not sure. He can’t recall telling you he needed chocolate. Jimin watches as you take his plate of chicken, and the random side of chocolate over to the intruders.
He watches with disdain as Jungkook’s eyes light up at the sight of what you’re offering. The rabbit shoots a wary glance to his side. He pouts. “Are you sure I’m allowed it?”
“Of course you are!” You giggle. Jimin really doesn’t like this. “You’re part human too, why not?”
Jimin’s gaze lingers on Jungkook’s excited face as he eats the chocolate that should’ve been for Jimin, whether or not he wanted it. Like the good owner that you are, you return to Jimin’s side and hand the entire plate to him. If you plan to keep him quiet with chicken, maybe he doesn’t mind that plan so much.
Still, the stars in Jungkook’s eyes are off-putting. He shouldn’t be looking at you like that, even if you did give him food. Jungkook looks as if he’s just been told his owner is working from home and never leaving ever again, when all you’ve done is give him some weird sugary squares. Chicken is so much better. Jimin wonders if he can convince you to let him eat a rabbit stew. He’d love to see the look on Jungkook’s face then.
“Y/n! Thank you!” Jungkook has a bright smile on his face when he finishes eating.
You smile back at him. Rude. “Don’t worry about it,” You reassure the rabbit. “You can have more if you want.”
Jimin’s tempted to finish the entire plate right then. “Ah, no, I...I shouldn't. I-it’s not good for you!” Jungkook explains. Chocolate can make you sick? How interesting. Perhaps there are some benefits after all.
“You don’t have to worry about that, you’ll be cute no matter what.” You tell Jungkook, still smiling at him. The rabbit really isn’t that interesting.
Namjoon clears his throat, looking up from his phone. Jimin pouts at the sight. You’d given him a phone of his own for a little bit, but he’d ended up having it taken off him again. Apparently your boss had scolded you for interrupting too many meetings. Shortly after that Jimin had lost a phone and had to endure another lecture. It was terrible. “Well, we need to go. Kookie, you need to have your pills, I don’t want you feeling ill in the car again…”
“But they make me sleepy…!” The hybrid whines.
Namjoon rests a hand on the hybrid’s head, petting his ears gently. “You’ll have to sleep more if you’re ill, you know.” More useful information. Jimin can’t wait for the weekend. Or, maybe sooner...
“If the window is open I might not get sick!” Jungkook looks excited again. Jimin scowls, reminded of that disgusting interaction from earlier. “Please!”
“Jungkook.” Namjoon’s voice is harsher this time. It’s a minute change, one that you probably wouldn’t pick up on with your silly human ears. Jimin can’t deny he enjoys the sad whimper Jungkook lets out. “I’m sorry, bunny, but you know you don’t like being sick. You’ll only end up regretting it. I’ll take you out another time when you haven’t just eaten, will you forgive me then?” Jungkook nods frantically, his foot thumping slightly against the carpet.
Namjoon and Jungkook leave soon after, with Jungkook clinging onto Namjoon’s arm. Jimin wishes you’d be more accepting of his affection like that. Instead all he ever gets is lectures. He can’t sleep naked if he’s in the same bed as you, he can’t share a shower with you, he can’t kiss you, he can’t lick you, and you still act weird when he sniffs you.Truly a waste.
Tumblr media
You wake up at your usual time. Jimin doesn’t turn your alarms off much anymore- not after you’d scolded him for causing you to miss an interview for a promotion. You hadn’t spoken to him for days (Jimin claims it was weeks), and that was more than enough for Jimin to promise not to touch the alarms ever again. So far, he’d kept his promise.
However, what Jimin was doing was certainly going to cause problems anyway. Was it one of those days? The days where he was especially difficult to deal with? You sigh, reaching a hand out of the covers to caress Jimin’s head, carefully avoiding his ears (whenever you touched them he acted even weirder than normal. For Jimin, weird was obedience, he didn't bother you at all, did whatever you asked, even if you just hinted at it...The strangest part was the pitiful whimpers he let out, not daring to complain but clearly unhappy. It made you uncomfortable, so you did your best to avoid it).
Jimin responds immediately to your touch, a low rumble in his throat and contented sighs. After a few minutes, you decide Jimin’s in a good enough mood to handle your next move. You don't stop petting him, knowing he’ll start complaining right away. “Jimin,” His purrs grow louder. “Scooch over for a minute...please.”
Jimin flinches, eyes narrowing as he stares down at you. You had woken up with him laying on top of you, and while it wasn’t uncomfortable, it wasn’t very easy to slip away, either. “Why?” He frowns. “You don’t need to go to work.”
“I do, actually.” You remind him.
Jimin scowls, “No! You can’t leave me alone again! Yesterday was-”
“Ah,” Jimin’s upset because of your guests yesterday, isn’t he? When you’d first met Jimin, the shelter had given you a pamphlet. Sudden changes were said to cause a lot of stress in hybrids, meeting new people was one of the biggest triggers. “I’m sorry, baby, I thought you’d be okay with it. How are you feeling?”
“I think my plague has come back-”
“None of that, sweetie, I know it’s not true.” You make sure to keep your voice soft. “How are you feeling inside? Are you stressed? Has something upset you?” Jimin nods slowly, avoiding your gaze. This time, you can tell it’s more out of embarrassment than guilt; he’s not lying, you know that much. “I’ll stay off today, then.” Jimin’s eyes light up, but he’s still not fully recovered. “Will you let me go to call them?” He shakes his head, burying his face into your shoulder with a whine. Even without looking, Jimin hands you your phone. As soon as you finish the phone call Jimin rolls off, but he doesn’t let go of you, curling into your side instead. At least this way you have some freedom to move too. “Jungkook might still be coming over, Namjoon’s still working, it’d be unfair to-”
“Namjoon said Jungkook isn’t allowed to come over either.” Jimin interrupts. Jimin doesn’t look like he’s lying, but if his displeasure today is because of them, you can’t be sure that he wouldn’t try anything. “He called earlier, when you were asleep.”
You frown in worry. “Oh...is he sick?”
“Yes.” Jimin replies immediately. Namjoon really had called him earlier- well, he’d called you, but you were asleep, and Jimin didn’t want you to wake and leave his side sooner. Though, whether or not Jungkook was sick he wasn’t sure. Didn’t care too much either, so why on earth would he ask? Jimin didn't want to hear about the rabbit at all. He huffs slightly, “You can call him again and ask if you don’t believe me.” Jimin wasn’t going to let that go, was he?
“Jimin, you told me you were on your period. How could I believe that?” Jimin blushes, not making eye contact. “And humans can’t catch the plague?”
“The documentary was boring.” He defends, muttering, “And you were warm.”
You smile, no matter how irritating Jimin’s antics can be, he’s harmless. “Then what would you like to watch?”
“Haikyuu!”
“Haven’t you watched that enough? What’s so great about it?” You chuckle.
“Because they’re hybrids too.” He explains. You raise an eyebrow. “They are! The main characters turn into crows sometimes, like full hybrids...And there's a team of cat hybrids too- they’re your favourite.”
“I haven’t even seen it yet.”
Jimin stares at you, “They will be your favourite. They have to! A cat is way better than any kind of bird...or rabbit.”
“Rabbits are pretty cute…” You hold back laughter at Jimin’s glare. It’s even harder to stop yourself tapping his nose, all scrunched up in adorable anger. “But so are you. I didn’t even know there was a rabbit team.”
Jimin stammers, “I-in a later season….we probably won’t get that far today…”
The day is spent watching an anime that definitely isn’t about hybrids, but you’re not about to shatter Jimin’s joy. It’s the only thing you’ve seen him remotely focused on outside of fish and cuddles.
He gets all three at once, too. His purring is enough to let you know he’s satisfied. Of course, you can’t avoid risking ruining his good mood, but you’d saved it until after dinner. Jimin’s always happiest then.
“Tomorrow I will be back at work.” He flinches when he hears you speak, going silent. “Jimin, you understand that I need to work, don’t you?” He’s silent. “Don’t you?” You get a very quiet ‘yes’ mumble in reply. It’s the best you’ll get from him. “And you also understand that you can’t keep trying to stop me from going to work?”
“It didn’t work anyway.” He grumbles.
“I know you don't like being alone. That’s why Jungkook will start coming over. He’ll be here tomorrow as well.” Your hand on his seems to be more interesting than what you’re saying. You hope it’s comforting for him.
Jimin only nods, suddenly standing up and smiling. “Y/n, would you like some chocolate? We have some, right?”
“Oh, are you hungry? I can-” He shakes his head, running off and quickly returning with an arm full of chocolate. “We should’ve had this earlier…There’s so much.”
Jimin nods, grinning gleefully. “Yes, now eat it.”
“What? Aren’t you having any?” Jimin shakes his head. “I can’t-”
Jimin clicks his tongue chidingly. “Y/n, I can’t cook very well, but i brought this over, and that’s a start. Please have some. Lots.”
You’re confused, but the gesture is sweet, and his reasoning is sweeter. So, you oblige, wary that Jimin’s smile keeps growing wider and wider. Does it really mean that much to him?
Tumblr media
You’d stated very clearly that Jimin wouldn’t be allowed to stop you from going to work today. Apparently, you had a very important meeting to attend. He’d whined at first, but you’d explained that if you didn’t go for this one day, you’d have to spend multiple catching up and working late. Grudgingly, he’d released his hold on you.
He’d gone quiet when you reminded him Jungkook would be ‘keeping him company’ for the day. At the very least, this meant you’d be hanging around longer than normal, waiting for Namjoon and his hybrid to arrive before you could leave. You’d also promised to order sushi for dinner, and to cuddle him, so Jimin had perked up a little then.
Jungkook was just as skittish as before, despite the disgusting look of awe in his eyes when he greeted you. Jimin couldn’t stand seeing it, and ended up hurrying you out the door before you even had the chance to start chatting with Namjoon. He’d already caught the man laughing at him silently.
Once you’d left, he regretted it deeply. He could hear the muffled voices of you and Namjoon, and realised miserably that his plan had failed entirely. But was it better than having to see that gaze in the rabbit’s eyes? Jimin was about to go out and pretend you’d forgotten something when the hybrid beside him spoke up.
“M-my name’s Jungkook, I’m a rabbit hybrid-”
Jimin snarled, “I know, we’ve met already. Don’t bother me.”
“B-but aren’t you lonely? I get lonely...when Namjoon’s not with me, I’m never lonely with him.” Jungkook smiled briefly. Jimin felt sick already. Was this going to be his whole day? Now, how on earth would he make sure his house didn’t stink of rabbit by the end of the day…?
“Aren’t you tired? I’m tired. It’s nap time.” Jimin couldn’t believe he was doing this, but he grabbed the rabbit’s wrist, not looking behind him as he dragged the intruder through the halls. Even his meek protests of ‘I already slept in the car’, ‘I promise I’m not tired!’ pissed him off. Couldn’t he see Jimin didn’t care whether or not he was tired? He just wanted him gone, shut away in one room so he didn’t infect the whole house, at least.
“Sleep here.” He gave Jungkook a little shove, and the rabbit stumbled into Jimin’s old room (now the spare bedroom).
Jungkook was looking at him with those wide eyes again. “Where will you sleep, then?”
“Different room.” Jimin almost got the door shut when Jungkook spoke up again.
“I thought houses only had one bedroom…?”
The cat hybrid huffs, “Some do. It’s better that way.”
Jungkook’s ears twitched on top of his head. Jimin didn’t know much about rabbits, but the idiot was probably excited, he always looked excited. “Then, do you want to stay here with me? Y/n said you like cuddling. I do too! Namjoon isn’t much of a cuddler, but he can be ni-”
“Don’t talk about Y/n.” Jimin growls, shutting the door in Jungkook’s face. He hears a small whimper from behind the door, and can’t help but smile. Just in case, Jimin pulls your desk chair over to the door, making sure that it's blocked nicely. Now the rabbit can’t bother him, and he won’t make any other room smell bad. Jungkook’s scent won’t go anywhere near yours. Perfect!
Jungkook seems to be saying something every single time Jimin walks by the closed off room, but unfortunately for him, Jimin brought out your ‘missing’ headphones just for this occasion. He’ll have to hide them before the end of the day, he can’t have you torturing him with them ever again, but it’s nice to have some peace to himself.
Though, it keeps bothering him. Will Jungkook really learn if he just sleeps all day? Will that teach him anything at all? What if he’s not even scared? Then he’ll probably return. Jimin needs to do something about it.
It's horrible to think that he’d be the one to willingly approach Jungkook, but it needs to be done. He needs to make sure the rabbit knows his place before the day is over. It’s about midday. He could use lunch as an excuse, right?
So, he pulls the chair away from blocking the door, doesn’t bother to knock and swings it open. The rabbit had fallen asleep right in front of the door. What an idiot. Though, Jimin does appreciate his effort to not ruin his bedsheets.
“Rabbit, wake up.” Jimin nudges his shoulder with his foot. He does it again, finding the way the impact quite enjoyable. Then again, and this time, Jungkook groans. But, how could Jimin know whether or not he was awake from just that? Better kick him again, right? Jungkook yelps this time, sitting up on his knees. He starts mumbling apologies. Jimin likes this a lot, the boy knows he’s done something wrong. Maybe he can learn. “Get up, I made lunch. You’re late.” Jimin didn’t make this lunch, it was another bribe from you to play nice, but he wasn’t about to let Jungkook have the satisfaction of knowing he’d eaten food from you.
Jungkook trails after him immediately, standing beside the kitchen counter awkwardly. Jimin throws him a look. “What are you doing? Sit down, your fidgeting is irritating me.”
Jimin sits across from him, watching with narrowed eyes as the rabbit begins to eat the food that was made for Jimin, and Jimin alone. Next time, he’ll have to convince you to buy rabbit meat; oh, to see Jungkook’s reaction then. That is, if he doesn’t manage to get rid of him like he hopes.
Jungkook notices Jimin’s stare and his ears point up, averting his eyes frantically. He won’t let him get away with it that easily. “Do you like Y/n?”
“H-huh? Oh, of course I do, she’s-”
“Mine! She’s mine. You don’t get to like her, you don't get to look at her with those disgusting eyes, you definitely don’t get to talk about her. I let you into this house, but I can just as easily kick you out. Keep your paws to yourself, rabbit.” Jimin’s on the verge of reaching across the small counter and strangling that asshole. How dare he admit it!
Jungkook shook his head rapidly, and Jimin bared his teeth at him. “No! I meant that she’s kind! Not like that, I’m not allowed to like her like that! I promise I don’t, I’m sorry! She’s yours, she’s yours, all yours.”
“Well, I’m glad you've been listening to me.” Jungkook shakes his head again. “You should start.”
The rabbit looks scared. “No! I’m not allowed to listen to you or other hybrids. It’s bad for me.”
“Said who?”
“Namjoon told me. He’s always right, so I can’t listen to you either. I’m sorry.”
Jimin smiles, “Was it Namjoon who said you can’t like Y/n as well?”
The rabbit hybrid nods. “Of course, he’s my owner, it’s my duty to follow his orders. He likes me, so I like him back too. And you have to listen to the one you like, because otherwise you’re betraying them, and that’s not good. Not good at all. Namjoon doesn’t like it when I betray him.” Jungkook bites his lip, and he frowns, clearly worried about something. “I-it’s like that for you and Y/n too, right? I know Namjoon wouldn’t lie to me, b-but sometimes- only sometimes, I promise- I worry about it...”
Jimin licks his lips, grinning, “Of course, that’s completely normal.” He pauses, “It’s Y/n and me that are doing things weirdly...I’m the owner really, but I’m letting her play since she’s been on such good behaviour lately.”
“If I behave well, will Namjoon let me out too…?” Poor little rabbit, he’s so stupid. Jimin almost feels sorry for him. Almost. Unfortunately for Jungkook, his owner works as very good assurance that he won’t ever get to do anything with Y/n.
Jimin smiles again. “Only if you’re very very good.”
“Really? That’s great! Thank you for telling me! You’re the first hybrid I’ve talked to in years, and you’re so helpful. Thank you. I’m glad I don’t have to worry anymore. I’ll listen to Namjoon, I’ll behave properly.” Jungkook falls silent for a while, finishing off his food happily. Then, once he’s done, he speaks up again. “Jimi- I, uh, if I can come over again, can I ask you about more things? You’re so smart, I just, I think it would help me a lot…”
“Of course, I’m always happy to help.”

“…and this - should be Lobar Three!”
The Doctor spreads his arms with a flourish as the TARDIS lands, its wheezing noise reverberating throughout the console room. The Doctor pirouettes around the console with the grace of a giraffe and slams down a lever – the TARDIS stills.
A small laugh makes its way out of your mouth. “Should be?”
“Yeah, should be. Moderate climate, beautiful mountain ranges, and gorgeous views thanks to its unique atmosphere,” the Doctor continues, dancing towards the doors. “Get ready for the sunrise of a lifetime!”
He says it like a cheesy tour guide, flashing you one of his manic grins before he peeks his head out of the door.
A beat of silence. You hear him groan, then he sticks his head back in.
"Not Lobar Three," he says sheepishly, "Lobar Four. I missed."
"You missed?" You dash away from the console to stand next to him and gently elbow his side. He mutters a soft "ow". "Oh, one day I'll learn how to drive the TARDIS, and you're going to be sorry."
"Oi, don't diss the driver," the Doctor says indignantly, his mouth curling into a frown - though one that's probably more embarrassed than upset. It's fun to see the Doctor flustered, all frowns and furrowed brows, arms crossed over his chest. You decide to try again.
You grin widely, moving closer into the Doctor's side. His mouth hangs open a little bit before he frowns again. "Maybe I should get try and get River to teach me, you've got her on speed dial right -"
"No, no, no, you are not getting River involved in this," he grumbles. "And I do not have her on speed dial. At least it's inhabited. Come on!"
The Doctor swings the doors open, and a bright white light spills through. Carefully, he steps out of the TARDIS, and you follow suit.
You look around, your gaze travelling along smooth marble walls interrupted by framed portraits of wintry landscapes. Several green potted plants stand next to a stone desk. Right next to the empty desk is a shelf full of brochures - the Doctor shuts the doors behind him and runs to the self, plucking a brochure and flipping through it.
"Doctor, where are we?" you whisper.
The Doctor doesn't look up from his brochure. "Like I said, Lobar Four. Fourth planet in the Lobar system, very touristy, and also very cold, on account of it being farther from its system's sun -"
You sigh, interrupting him. "No, I meant where exactly are we?"
"That is a question I can answer."
You turn your head towards a low, rumbling voice - your gaze focuses on a bear-like creature, standing on two feet, walking slowly towards you. Something about its presence is quite commanding, and you stand a little straighter. "Welcome, strangers, to the P'kone Mountain Resort. What is your business here?"
"Hello!" the Doctor says cheerfully, stuffing his brochure into his jacket. "I'm the Doctor and this -" He pats your shoulders and you smile politely - "is my companion. We're just having a look around. Lovely resort. It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. ...?"
"The Doctor!" The creature's eyes widen, and he steps forward, bowing his head. The many chains on his suit strike each other and make jangling sounds. “I did not expect such an esteemed visitor to arrive. I am Merban, and the pleasure is all mine."
"Oh, esteemed visitor?" The Doctor bows back, then glances at you - you fumble and bow awkwardly. If your bowing is offensive at all Merban doesn't say anything. "What's the occasion, Merban?"
Merban straightens, folding his hands - paws? You'd have to count how many fingers he had - behind his back. His white fur almost makes him disappear into the white marble walls, but the many golden accents on his maroon suit shine under the lights. "We are having a political summit regarding our planet's trade. You may join us, if you like - dinner is just beginning."
"Dinner?" you ask, then cringe at the way your voice echoes in the space. Merban nods slowly.
"Yes, child," he says, a gentle smile spreading across his features. "We would be very humbled to be in your company."
"Oh, his company, not mine," you laugh, gesturing to the Doctor.
Merban frowns, tilting his head to the side. "No, your company is appreciated as well. We Lobarians have heard many stories about the Doctor and his companions. How they travel together, spreading kindness amongst the stars. You play a very integral role in those stories. We will honor you just as much as him."
You feel your face grow warm. You glance at the Doctor and he smiles at you, a proud gleam in his eyes. "Oh. Well, uh - thank you," you manage, your voice small. "Yes, we'll join you. Please, lead the way."
"Very well." With another polite nod, Merban turns on his heel and starts walking into the hallway behind him.
"Honored? Me?" you gush, walking not too far behind Merban. You're only human, and although the Doctor's always said that humanity's brilliant, there's still a tiny part of you that jumps in joy at the praise. "They tell stories about you and I'm a part of them?"
"We're a package deal, you and I." The Doctor shrugs, but there's still a smile playing on his lips. A package deal. Never one without the other. You soften at the thought. "Word gets around quickly. You get used to it."
"Oh, I think I never will." You try to swallow a laugh, but it bubbles out of you anyway. "Spreading kindness amongst the stars is such high praise. I didn't think we were doing that."
The hallway widens into a large room, and your breath catches in your throat. Intricately carved pillars curve upwards into a domed ceiling, leading to a shimmering centerpiece hanging in the middle of the room that seems to shift in the wind. Scattered around the room are circular tables, decorated with a silken cloth that reflect the lights beautifully. There are a few Lobarians at every table, all dressed in formal wear lined in gold, all of them prim and proper in their seats.
"Friends and allies," Merban announces, "I proclaim the arrival of two very esteemed guests, the Doctor and his companion!"
A bout of polite clapping spreads across the room before it quickly falls silent again. Merban leads you to a longer table set on a stage - a Lobarian with fluffy brown fur dressed in an azure suit quickly leaps up from his chair to greet you and the Doctor.
"Hello!" he says brightly, taking your hand in his - five fingers, so not paws - and shaking it vigorously. "I'm Koramaz, it's so nice to finally meet you." He jerks his thumb behind him at another Lobarian with similarly colored fur, who rises from his seat to join Koramaz. "That's my assistant, Orvin. Why don't you say hello?"
"Greetings." Orvin reaches out to take your hand, the faint gleam of a ring shining on one of his fingers. He presses his mouth against the back of your palm - you raise your eyebrows at him and he laughs, a low sound. "I'm sorry. Traditions travel far and wide across the cosmos. I was told about this human one. Did that offend you?"
"N-no," you stutter out. The Doctor moves to stand behind you, placing his hands on your shoulders.
"Lovely to meet you both," he says. You nearly miss him grumbling something under his breath.
Merban settles into his seat. "If you are finished with your introductions, shall we begin?
Koramaz smiles, his teeth bared. And they're sharp. "Of course, Merban. Shall we?"
Merban offers that you sit beside him - Koramaz insists the same thing. In the end, you and the Doctor end up at the center of the table, with Koramaz on one side and Merban on the other. You watch as elegantly dressed Lobarians float into the room and begin handing dishes on silver platters to the guests, spinning around every table like the service is one big choreography.
"So - about this political summit," the Doctor begins, leaning back into his chair and clasping his hands together, "what's going on? Why don't you fill me in on the details, Merban?"
"Our planet is currently divided into two factions," Merban explains. He nods up at one of the servers politely as they set down a plate in front of him. "I am with the Protectionists. We wish to keep our planet's economy independent. That involves increasing restrictions and taxes on foreign exports."
"And I," Koramaz starts, waving away a server, "am with the Expansionists. We want Lobar Four to be seen on the galactic stage! Opening our doors to foreign trade has to be the best way. Don't you agree with me, Orvin?"
Orvin just hums in reply, the blue cloak resting on his shoulder swaying with the motion.
It's only now that you notice how the room is divided in two - the ones wearing blue sitting on one side, and the ones wearing red sitting on the other. It's also only now that formality of the event hits you. The Doctor in his suit and bowtie fits right in, but you - you're in a shirt and pants. You reach up the grab the hem of your shirt, anxiously running your fingers over the fabric.
"Preposterous," Merban mutters. "Lobar Four is not yet ready for that kind of progress."
"If we're not ready now, then when will we be ready, Merban?" Koramaz counters. "Hmm? What do you say to that?"
"Well, progress is subjective, when you really think about it," the Doctor says. "It all depends on what your goals are, and if your goals differ, then so does your idea of progress. I suppose that's what makes this so difficult."
"Spoken like a true public speaker," you whisper, leaning in.
The Doctor chuckles. "I was on Aristotle's debate team."
Koramaz turns to face the Doctor, his eyes glinting. "Say, Doctor, why don't you put in a good word for us? Everyone here trusts you a lot, and I'm sure you agree with me. Opportunity for all, and all that."
The Doctor smiles and shakes his head. "Sorry, I'm not really one for politics. The gossip can get a bit -" He grimaces slightly - "much. More of a negotiator. I don't really interfere."
 You snicker at that. Really?
The Doctor narrows his eyes at you. Hush.
"I'm sure you lot can come to a compromise," the Doctor says. Merban scoffs.
"Compromise has no place in Koramaz's vocabulary," Merban says. Koramaz shrugs at that, raising his palms in the air. "The boy has a one-track mind, as the young ones say. I can only hope that these talks go peacefully."
"Yes, we only want the best for our planet." Koramaz nods slowly. He glances at Orvin, his gaze hidden by his fur. "It's a shame you won't put your two cents in, Doctor. But rest assured, we'll come to a conclusion by the end of the night."
A small tap on your shoulder makes you look up at one of the finely dressed servers. They carry a small tray filled with glasses of a rose-colored liquid. The server nods at you, then the drinks. "Would you like one?"
"Sure, thanks." You reach up and take one of the glasses - the rose-colored liquid sparkles, and when you smell it, it does smell faintly of roses. "Is it alcoholic?"
"It is a wine from our territory," Merban says, "a gift from my faction to Koramaz's for all of us to enjoy."
Koramaz swirls his own glass of wine. "It's a wonderful gesture. What about you, Doctor? Will you drink?"
The Doctor waves off a server, shaking his head, but he's got his own glass too. "Nah, I don't drink. But I do love to hold the glass in my hand, it makes me look cool."
Your laughter is what sets the whole table off - Koramaz chortles, and even Merban gives a low chuckle. The Doctor smiles, proud, raising the glass like Gatsby at one of his parties. It's enough to make you laugh again, steadying your hand so you don't spill your drinks.
You raise the glass to your lips and sip the wine - it tastes fizzy, and burns your throat when you swallow, but it isn't bad. The Doctor frowns like a disapproving parent, pointing his sonic at the glass. You raise your eyebrows at him as he skims over the readings.
"What?" you say, lowering your glass.
"I don't want you getting drunk, this is a diplomatic affair," the Doctor says quietly.
"Okay, Mr. Grumpy Face. You're no fun." You take a big gulp of wine and then immediately regret it as it burns even harder in your throat, blazing a trail of fire all the way down to your stomach. You cough, your face twisting into a grimace. "Don't laugh."
"'Course not," the Doctor says, laughing. "Are you okay?"
"Fine!" you splutter. It still burns, and you pound your fist against your chest. "Ack. I shouldn't have done that. Don't go all 'I told you so' on me and tell me that the wine isn't safe for human consumption."
"Oh, it isn't," the Doctor says nonchalantly. When you stare at him, your eyes going wide, he laughs. "Kidding! I'm kidding. Look at you, all panicked with your big eyes."
You groan and the Doctor laughs again, louder this time. Your annoyance drops at the joyful sound and you smile, biting your lower lip. You're out of place in a super fancy alien dinner party, and yet the Doctor is still squarely by your side, his laugh like an anchor amongst all of the extraordinary things happening. You file that nice thought away for later, to admit to him in a more vulnerable moment.
"And now, a dance," Merban announces, raising his glass, "to cement peace between our two factions. Koramaz, if you will?"
"Of course." Koramaz rises and makes his way to the very center of the room - the guests dressed in blue all form a circle, and the guests dressed in red partner up with them.
Orvin extends a hand to you. "Wait. Before you join the dance, I have a gift for you."
He unclasps the pin that holds his shoulder cloak in place - it slides off his shoulder, the fabric shimmering in his hands - and throws it over your shoulder. He leans in close to pin it, his fur just tickling the skin of your neck. It looks a little strange, the beautiful piece hanging off of your casual clothes, but Orvin looks proud. "Perfect for a beauty like you."
You smile shyly at him. "Thank -"
"Yes, thank you very much," the Doctor says quickly. He shoots a polite smile in Orvin's direction before he practically drags you away. "You didn't have to say yes," he says, his grip tight around your wrist.
"I didn't?" You pry your hand out of his grasp. The cloak sways as you move, cold like metal as it brushes against your arm. "It's a really nice cloak, though."
The Doctor huffs. "It's finely-woven chainmail - the metal links are as tiny as thread. Makes it look just like normal cloth. Lobarian craftsmen do not mess about. Symbolic Lobarian attire, the one-shoulder cloak, common throughout the whole system."
"Symbolic of what?" you ask. The Doctor sighs, his brows pinching together.
"It's an old symbol, it doesn't matter." You shoot him a look, trying to give him your best puppy-dog eyes - the Doctor holds your gaze before he sighs again, deeper this time. "Oh, you - alright, it means you're unbound."
 "Unbound?"
"Unmarried, without a partner, whatever you want to call it!" the Doctor says, his voice climbing higher. "Single. I don't know."
You watch the Doctor, shoulders slumped as if in defeat, his hands thrown up in the air in frustration - if you didn't know any better, you'd say he looked a little -
"Raise the music!" Koramaz bellows, and the music grows even louder. Everyone starts to sway, some joining hands, some pulling each other close.
At Koramaz's announcement, the Doctor relaxes slightly. He extends his hand to you, bowing slightly like a proper gentleman - "Shall we dance?"
"Aren't you a terrible dancer?" you ask, placing your hand in his.
The Doctor smirks up at you, and your heart stutters in your chest. "You've never seen me waltz."
You breathe out a laugh as the Doctor steps closer to you, your hand still clasped in his. You bring your free hand to his shoulder - the Doctor, not taking his eyes off you, lets his hand come to a rest on your waist.
And oh, his eyes. Have you ever really looked at the Doctor before today? Like, really looked at him? Has his face always looked like that?
He said you were unbound but you certainly don't feel that way - swaying with him, the Doctor feels like the only thing keeping your feet on the ground. You blink up at him, at his hair that just looks perfect for running your hands through and his eyes that seem to hold everything.
You haven't been looking. Now you're looking and you really like what you see.
You exhale through your mouth at the realization, and hope that the Doctor doesn't hear. He's humming along to the music, happy enough. "Doctor?" you ask, jumping a little at the way your voice comes out strained.
The Doctor hums in response, a note of the song. You swallow. What's brought this on? Is it the alien wine you've just drunk? It probably is. Liquid courage. "Have I ever told you that I think you're really -"
"Excuse me," a Lobarian next to you coughs, "you'll have to pass her along."
You feel the Doctor's hand tense against your waist. "What?"
"We're meant to dance with everyone," they explain. "The dance can't continue until you pass her along. Sorry."
Something flickers across the Doctor's face, too quickly for you to figure out what it is. He lets go of you, pushing you gently away from him, and you think you catch him frowning as you're passed along.
It's easy enough to engage in light conversation with the Lobarians who dance with you. Most of them are overwhelmed at your presence, others are adorably curious about human customs. They ask questions about climate and plants, some of them tilting their heads in confusion at the idea of a "summer". A few remind you too much of old economics teachers.
You've just finished talking with a tall Lobarian woman when she spins you and passes you along to the one beside her - strong arms catch you, and you look up at Orvin's face.
"My cloak suits you well," he rumbles, smiling.
"It does," you say brightly. "Thank you, it's beautiful."
Orvin hums, intertwining his fingers with yours. You jump at the intimacy of the action, but his hold is too tight for you to pull away from it. "Do you know what it means?"
"Y-yeah, the Doctor explained it to me."
"Then you must know what I think of you," Orvin says. His hand, once settled on your waist, starts drifting towards the small of your back - you shudder at the touch. "Do you know what it means when it is given to someone?"
 "No," you squeak out.
Orvin's pulling you closer, your bodies nearly flush with one another. "From one unbound to another… I think you know what I mean."
"I'm not sure I follow," you say, leaning away from Orvin's face, which was now very close to yours. His teeth are just as sharp as Koramaz's. "But I'm - I'm not unbound."
"Well, you might not be - but maybe your partner isn't here." He leans in closer to you and you stiffen. To anyone watching, Orvin might as well be dipping you, but all you want to do is kick him and run away. "Why don't we have a little fun?" he whispers, his breath tickling your ear.
There's something almost predatorial in Orvin's gaze that sends your poor heart into a frenzy. Sharp teeth and something sharp digging into your back. You squirm in his grasp, trying to find safety - the Doctor. You meet his gaze from across the room, and you have to blink at the intensity of his glare.
Orvin can't see it, but the Doctor is burning holes into his back.
"I'm not unbound," you repeat, trying to put a little fire in your voice. The Doctor's gaze flickers from Orvin to you and he shoots you a polite smile, but the look in his eyes hasn't gone. My anchor, you think. "The one I'm bound to is right behind you."
Not entirely the truth, not entirely a lie either. Maybe it's a wish.
A few seconds pass, the silence between you and Orvin heavy with tension. He turns his head to face the Doctor, and then he laughs. The sound sends shivers down your spine.
"Alright," he finally says, "I assumed. I apologize."
You'd better be sorry is the first thought that crosses your mind. Orvin shifts his hand away from the small of your back - a sharp pain pierces through your skin. You suck in a breath through your teeth.
"You alright?" Orvin moves his hand back to your waist. "Are you hurt?"
"I'm fine," you say. The pain is gone as fast as it came. "Probably just static."
Orvin looks down at you curiously, but nods. He pulls back from you, getting ready to pass you to your next partner, and you spin, and spin, and, spin, and hang on, should you be spinning for this long or -
 "Woah, woah!"
You're spinning. You're still spinning. Or is the room spinning? You blink slowly, your eyelids heavy. Maybe it's the wine, the one glass of Lobarian wine you had that's messing with your system. Maybe the Doctor was right, maybe it really wasn't good for humans. The room lurches forward - or maybe you do.
 "Hang on, I've got you."
The Doctor. You're back in his arms, still swaying slowly to the music, which sounds so far away now. Has someone stuffed your ears with cotton? You lean forward and rest your head on his shoulder, pressing your forehead against his tweed jacket.
"I saw you stumbling," the Doctor says, his voice quiet near your ear. "What's going on? Have you had too much to drink? I told you -"
You groan, cutting him off, your stomach roiling. "I don't… feel good. I feel like..."
You grip against the Doctor slackens, and you fall - the cold marble floor doesn't greet you. Instead, the Doctor's arms wrap around you before you can collide with the floor.
You can faintly hear a gasp spread throughout the entire room. The music's stopped, too. You want to apologize for ruining everyone's fun, but all that comes out of your mouth is another weak groan. You squeeze your eyes shut, but the room's still tumbling. So dizzy...
Koramaz's voice drifts in. "Oh, no. What's wrong? What's happened?"
"I don't know, I need to find out first," the Doctor says. You feel him pull you closer, letting your head rest against his chest. The double beats of his heart join the pounding in your head. "She said she wasn't feeling well, why would she be not feeling well..."
"There is an infirmary, in the hotel," Merban suggests. A furry hand pushes the hair away from your face. "She can be taken there until she is well again."
"Right, since you all have great service." The Doctor's voice waver's ever so slightly. You reach out, your hand wrapping around one of his braces. "I'll go with her. I'll stay until she's better."
Please, you try to say. It comes out like a strangled noise in the back of your throat instead, but the Doctor seems to understand. You feel his lips press against your hair. Don't leave.
"No, Doctor," Koramaz says gently. "This could be really serious. There might be a criminal in our midst. We need you here, to answer some questions."
Merban speaks up. "Koramaz, are you insinuating that -"
 "No, I'm just being thorough."
"And if I won't?" Something dangerous plays at the edge of the Doctor's voice. His hold on you tightens.
"Do not worry." Merban's voice is calm and steady. "Rest assured, your companion will be provided the best care that we have."
Koramaz speaks again, and you feel yourself being moved, away from the Doctor - a whine bubbles out of your mouth, your hands still searching for where the Doctor is. No! "Orvin'll help take her to the infirmary. Won't you, Orvin?"
Not this bastard again… "As you wish," Orvin says. He scoops you up and lifts you. Everything lurches at the motion, and you groan again, dizzy, confused, and maybe just a little bit scared.
Their voices get farther and farther away, but even though all the nausea there's a thought, clear as day, nagging at you in the very back of your mind.
"H-hang on," you mumble. "Guys, I don't think I'm drunk..."
 --
The Doctor tries to swallow his jealousy as he watches Orvin walk away with your limp form in his arms. That's not what he's supposed to be feeling right now, but he can't help the ugly feeling that's snaked its way into his hearts.
You'd looked radiant tonight. The sight of you in Orvin's cloak - although a little bit annoying - is something that he's sure is etched in his brain. You'd looked like royalty in the blue piece. He’s seen a lot of royalty, and they’re absolutely nothing compared to you. And you looking up at him, almost dreamily, face flushed with alcohol, is not something he'll forget.
But he can't get the way you reached out for him out of his brain, either. The way you gripped one of his braces for dear life, the way your hands reached out blindly through your confusion, looking to him for comfort.
Not jealous, he tries to convince himself, worried. He's better at that anyway.
 "What's going on?"
"Let me see, let me see!"
 "They've just carted her off..."
The Lobarians start muttering amongst themselves. After you'd fallen into his arms, they'd scattered, grouping back into their respective factions. The beautiful palette of reds and blues divided again. It's funny what fear does to a people.
"Now, now, everyone, calm down," Merban says. "There is no need for panic. Fear and suspicion will only make our investigation harder."
 "Fear and suspicion?"
"Merban's right, we need to stay as calm as we can -"
"No, we need to start asking questions!"
Murmuring spreads through both factions. The Doctor watches Merban, hands held out, trying to placate everyone - and Koramaz, shifting on his feet, mouth bared in what almost looks like a snarl, his sharp teeth reflecting the light and making him look even more vicious. He can sense it, Koramaz's anger, and he takes a careful step backward. The whole thing is a puddle of gasoline, and if Koramaz says anything, there will only be ashes left behind.
"Now, have any of you here seen anything suspicious during tonight's proceedings? Anything at all?"
Most of the Lobarians shake their heads, looking at each other with wide eyes. The Doctor's seen this before - classic political intrigue. Two factions with a rivalry. It's something he'd love to solve, if he wasn't dealing with the nagging worry slowly climbing up his throat.
Suddenly, Koramaz snarls, pointing a finger at Merban. "If anything, you're the suspicious one!"
A collective gasp. There it was. Now there was a fire.
Merban raises his hands, shaking his head. "Koramaz - you must be mistaken. As I have said, we all need to stay calm, and -"
"No, we aren't going to stay calm," Koramaz grumbles. "Who invited the Doctor and his companion to the dinner? Whose territory was that wine from? Hmm?"
There's another gasp, and another wave of panicked muttering. Merban sighs. "Koramaz, please. Let us talk about this."
"They're the ambassadors of the universe, well known through time and space!" Koramaz voice shakes with emotion, his entire body trembling. "You did this! You tried to poison a visitor - a potential ally in trade, an opportunity - to keep our planet independent! Your cruelty knows no bounds."
"Koramaz - no -" Merban begins, but soon enough his voice is drowned out by the sound of yelling and fighting. "Koramaz!"
"Doctor, look at him!" Koramaz shouts, glancing at the Doctor with wild eyes. "Don't you see how guilty he is?"
 The Doctor stays silent.
"Everyone, are you feeling well? Have you had any of the wine?"
 "You bastards!"
"We're just trying to help Lobar Four!"
Koramaz goes still in the middle of the chaos. The Doctor narrows his eyes at him - narrows his eyes at the way he takes a deep breath in, adjusts his suit, and relaxes as soon as the first stone has been thrown. He storms off, disappearing into the throes of panicked and angry Lobarians.
The Doctor moves to stand next to Merban. The Protectionist leader looks absolutely frazzled, his once pristine fur now sticking out at unnatural angles.
"Merban," he says, and Merban jumps at the sound of his voice. "I'm sorry, you lot are really being quite noisy. I think I'll head back to my ship now, if that's alright with you."
"No, Doctor, we -" Merban sighs, ragged. "I may need your help. You must be concerned for your companion. If you cooperate with us, I'm sure we can find a solution."
Concerned is an understatement. "I'll be here," he says, placing a reassuring hand on Merban's shoulder. "But I won't be of any help while you're all squabbling. I'll stay out of your way until this all dies down."
Merban relaxes ever so slightly, and the Doctor gives him a small smile. Slowly, he nods, placing his own hand on the Doctor's shoulder. Merban's touch is firm, but his gaze wavers. "Of course. Feel free to leave, Doctor - but do come back. We will let you know when we need you."
"You're a good man, Merban," the Doctor replies. "Thank you."
The Doctor waits until Merban lowers his hands, and watches him as he plunges into the crowd of arguing Lobarians, his deep voice rising above everyone else's.
Good show, Doctor. Time to make your escape.
He slips into another corridor as quietly as he can, the sounds of petty words being thrown at one another getting softer and softer. He walks towards the lobby, where the TARDIS is parked, anxious hands fidgeting to keep his mind off the first thing it drifts to - a worst case scenario.
But of course, it does. The Doctor just doesn't want to bring those thoughts to the front of his mind.
His worry is practically clawing out of his throat now. The Doctor fights it first. Merban had promised you'd be safe, but Koramaz - Koramaz hadn't made any promises. Only threats. He stops fighting his fear, his hands curling into fists.
The Doctor turns on his heel and walks the other way.
He thrusts his hand into his jacket, and with a soft cry of "a-ha!", pulls out a brochure. It's the same brochure he'd picked up when he landed - it's shiny, reflecting the light into his eyes, and also very informative, as all good brochures should be.
He turns it over in his hands. Printed on the paper is a map of the hotel, a tiny glowing blip on the paper marking where he's standing.
The Doctor opens his mouth to explain it to you, paper-thin optics with a built-in directional tracker, waiting for your excited response - then he falters. It's quiet. You're not going to respond because you aren't there, right by his side, where you should be.
Problem number one. The rest, he can deal with later. Finding the area on the map labeled "Infirmary", he sets off in that direction first.
The Doctor walks silently though the hallways, sonic screwdriver held up like a weapon. He won't boast about it, but Time Lords have better hearing than humans - not the best, but still quite good. He can still hear the distant sound of raised voices, but he tries to focus on something else. He tries to see if he can hear you, your voice, your breathing, your heartbeat, anything of yours that he can recognize.
 Nothing.
He looks through the glass doors of the infirmary - and they're empty. He peers in further, and there's still no sign of you. None of the beds have a pillow out of place, and the staff inside are too busy tending to other people.
Not jealous, not jealous, worried, starts to sound quite bad in the Doctor's head. Jealousy would have been better than this.
The Doctor lifts the map to his face again, squinting at the tiny text printed onto it - Infirmary, Function Halls, Private Rooms. The private rooms don't look too far away from the infirmary. A guess won't hurt, the Doctor thinks.
Then, close by - the sound of a clattering doorknob. And voices. Faint groaning.
 "Doctor..."
Then a faraway thud, the sound of something soft falling to the floor. Like a body.
Maybe this guess would hurt. The Doctor runs towards the source of the sound, one of the private rooms, and presses his ear against the door. What he hears next makes his heart twist painfully in his chest.
It's you, it's your voice. It's too faint for him to make out any words. The Doctor grits his teeth as he presses his whole body against the door.
It doesn't budge. He tries the doorknob - locked. Anger joins his repertoire of already jumbled emotions, setting his hearts alight with a white-hot anger that he hasn't felt in a very, very long time. He points his sonic at the doorknob, gripping it so tightly he can see his knuckles turn white - the door swings open and he very nearly drops the device.
"Help," you mutter weakly, sprawled on the floor. "Help me."
"No, no no no -" The Doctor drops to his knees beside you, sweeping the sonic over your body - the whirring noise makes you furrow your brows, and he apologizes under his breath. He has a feeling he's going to be doing a lot of that. He skims through the readings, his hearts pounding out of his chest at every point of data.
He tucks his sonic back into his jacket and gently turns you over. You roll onto your back and groan, your arms hanging limp at your sides.
"Hey," he murmurs, his vision going hazy. He blinks quickly. Not now.
Slowly, he wraps his arms around your shivering form. You're shaking like a leaf in a storm, and you feel impossibly frail in his arms. A sob makes its way through your trembling lips, and the sound rips the Doctor's hearts in two.
You had just been smiling, laughing, dancing with him minutes ago. Now you're sobbing in his arms. The Doctor swallows.
"Doctor?" you mumble. You're looking into nowhere, your eyes glassy. "I need to - need to find the Doctor..."
Now you were just being cruel. "It's me," the Doctor chokes out. He blinks the tears out of his eyes, again, but he can't stop the few that slip out. "I'm here, I'm right here. I'm so sorry."
"Sorry?" Your cheeks are shiny. "Wha… what for?"
This. Everything. The Doctor reaches out to wipe your tears - and he jerks his hand away. You're burning up, sweat beading on your forehead, your hair sticking to the damp skin. Even Orvin's chainmail cloak has absorbed some of the warmth.
"Nothing," the Doctor whispers. He takes your face in his hands and presses a kiss to your forehead, even though heat is coming off you in waves. "I'm going to take you home, okay? You're going to be alright. I promise."
"Home," you slur, your head lolling, "yeah, home sounds good."
The Doctor doesn't like making promises. He's too afraid of what happens when he can't keep them, but he swears he'll fulfill this one. You lean into his touch and sigh, that one puff of breath scalding the skin of his hands.
Your eyelids flutter as you head comes to rest on the Doctor's chest. Another round of shivers wracks your body, and the Doctor tightens his grasp on you.
As gently as he can, he rises to his feet. The motion makes you whimper, and you curl up in his grasp. He sets his jaw and steps out of the room.
You mumble things under your breath as the Doctor weaves through the hallways, making his way back to the TARDIS. Back home. He doesn't want to listen, because your delirious mumblings make his hearts hurt terribly, but he does catch a few. A few "sorry"s, a handful of "hurts", the occasional "ow", and "I tried to warn him".
"Tried to warn me about what, sweetheart?" he coaxes when you mumble it for the third time. You blink up at him blearily, recognition flickering in your tired eyes.
"M'not drunk," is your breathy response. "Didn't feel drunk. Felt sick. My back… hurts."
"Your back?" the Doctor asks. You groan in reply, and when the Doctor jostles you experimentally that groan tapers off into a weak cry of pain. It's too much for his hearts. "Was it the wine? Do you think it was the wine?" he tries, following another lead.
"My back," you insist weakly. "Dance… he was too close..."
The TARDIS comes into view, and the Doctor quickens his pace. Just a few more steps and you'll be home, safe -
Merban nearly runs into him. His jaw drops open at the sight of you hanging limply in the Doctor's arms. "Oh, goodness," he gasps, "what's happened to her?"
"I don't know," the Doctor growls, the anger in his hearts a roaring fire. "How about you tell me why she wasn't in the infirmary? Or why she was all alone in a locked room with a raging fever?"
"Doctor, I -" Merban stutters. "I was under the impression she was being cared for."
 "Well, your impression was wrong."
Koramaz appears behind Merban, and his eyes widen in shock. He reaches out for you, and something in the Doctor snaps - he isn't allowed to get close to you like that, no one is! He steps back quickly, shielding you in his arms.
"No, don't you touch her!" he snarls, suddenly much older and ancient and dangerous.
Koramaz stops in his tracks. The Doctor glares at him, breathing heavily, watching as he stumbles backwards. There's a sick satisfaction building in him at the fear in their eyes - and the Doctor realizes that maybe, just this once, he doesn't mind being ancient. He doesn't mind being dangerous.
But then you mutter something disjointedly, shift your frail body in his arms, and it's all wiped away like writing on the sand. The anger gone in just a moment, replaced by a fear that keeps him rooted to the floor.
"Doctor, what are you doing?" Merban asks softly.
The Doctor looks down at you. He's always scared, but not like this. Never like this.
"I'm being selfish," he says, and he disappears into the TARDIS.
 --
 “Have you done it?”
 “I have.”
 “Good job.”
Voices drift into your hearing. All you feel are sensations – incoherent and choppy, like someone had deleted entire minutes of your memory, scenes jumping from one to the other. Being scooped into someone’s arms, carried into the dark. Silken sheets brushing against freezing skin. Something thick and heavy being laid over you, suffocating you –
“Make sure she isn’t found until later. You know the plan. You know what he needs to think.”
The voices are familiar. Should you be alarmed? You feel like you should – but you can’t be. It’s too cold to feel anything else at all. There’s a soft click, and then laughter. Low laughter, laughter that’s too threatening to be kind. The sound sends shivers up your spine.
A small part of your mind’s still awake, and its screaming at you to get the hell up. You roll, and twist - then you fall, and the bed disappears from underneath you. You’re weightless for a second before your elbow collides with the floor. You’re too tired to even cry out in pain.
A thought pushes through your mind as you reach up at what looks like a doorknob – find the Doctor. He’s home, he’s safety, he’s everything. The doorknob rattles once, twice, nothing.
“Doctor,” you manage, and then –
Another voice drifts in. Warm and comforting. Soft against the sharp pain.
“Hush, I’m here,” the voice says. Something cold presses onto your forehead. A bead of liquid trickles down your temple and disappears into your hair.
“Where…?” You draw in a slow breath, your head lolling against a surprisingly warm pillow. You want to open your eyes – look upon your savior, as dramatic as that sounds. But your eyelids are so heavy, and you give up before you can even try.
“It’s alright, you’re safe, you’re on the TARDIS.” This time it’s hands, a palm pressing against your forehead, gentle fingers pressing onto your neck, both of them blessedly cool. You sigh and lean into the touch.
“Try to rest – you’re still burning up.” The hands retreat – then they come back, brushing against your cheek. The touch says a thousand words that you’re too tired to understand. “I need to figure out what they’ve put in you before…”
 Silence for a moment.
“…I’ll be here when you wake up. I promise.”
Darkness swallows you before you can say anything back.
You come to consciousness like a computer waking up – every system flickering to life one by one. Touch comes first – you’re in a soft thing, a comfy thing, a bed. The faint hum of the TARDIS reaches your ears, low enough to be calming background noise. Sight is the last thing that comes to you as your eyes flutter open.
This isn’t the medical bay. It’s missing the sterile white walls and clean lines you’re used to waking up to when your adventures go inevitably south – and this isn’t your room either. It’s big and barely decorated, and while most of the rooms on the TARDIS feel old, this one feels older than most.
 “You’re awake!”
The Doctor comes into your vision. You notice three things – one, his jacket’s gone, the sleeves of his button-up rolled up to his elbows. Two, this bed you’re lying in? Huge. Three – the Doctor’s eyes are very, very red.
“How are you feeling?” he asks.
“Not – sure,” you reply, your voice hoarse. “Confused. How long have I been out?”
The Doctor doesn’t answer that. He sits down on the bed instead, pulling your arm gently from under the blanket with a practiced ease. He rolls up your sleeve and peers at your forearm, his gaze steady and laser-focused on one spot on your arm.
The Doctor’s mysterious, but sometimes he can be easy to read. It isn’t hard with his face – he doesn’t shy away from emotions, and even when he tries to, they slip out of the mask he tries so hard to maintain. There have been quiet nights on the TARDIS after those botched adventures, that have started with anger and ended in tears from the both of you.
You flick your gaze from your arm to the Doctor’s face, and really look. Even through the thick haze that lays like fog on your mind, you can see his eyes, red-rimmed and sunken, and the way his jaw is tight and his shoulder are squared with a tension you’ve seen before.
He must be angry, you think, angry that I’ve gotten hurt, somehow.
“Good,” the Doctor finally says, looking up at you with a tired smile. “The antidote seems to be working – I made it with your blood, by the way, so if you feel a little lightheaded that’s on me.”
But there isn’t any anger in his eyes. There’s no storm, no fire. Just… exhaustion, and maybe a hint of relief as he looks at your face.
 You must have missed it.
“What happened?” Your mouth doesn’t form the words quite right, and you catch the way the Doctor’s lips curve up fondly.
“You were poisoned,” he says, running a hand through his hair. It’s messier than it usually is, and his bowtie’s askew too. He turns away from you before you can reach up and fix it.
“Poison?” you ask. You struggle to connect the dots in your head, your mind still running too slow for your liking. “Someone poisoned me?”
“Not organic, not one you can buy either. Unprofessionally made, cobbled together in a back alley.” The Doctor’s gesticulating wildly now, moving his hands around in the air – without his jacket, he looks much smaller, and a little ridiculous. Then you wonder where his jacket is. “Something like this, you’re not looking for an easy kill – you’re just looking for results.”
“Yeah, they got results,” you groan. Every part of your body aches, and trying to reach any thought is like swimming in an ocean of molasses. “They definitely got results.”
You press your palms against the bed beneath you and push – and the world tilts at the movement, a sharp and sudden pain piercing through your lower back. You fall back against the mattress, the air leaving your lungs.
The Doctor whirls around, and before you can blink his hands are frantically hovering over you. “What’s happened? What’s wrong?”
“My – back,” you grit out, your head still spinning. “Ow.”
The Doctor’s already wide eyes widen even more. His hands, once reaching out, pull back to rest against his chest, tightened into fists. “When I found you, you – you kept warning me about your back, telling me your back hurt, and I couldn’t look because I was too –”
His voice breaks, and he trails off. He stares, eyes full of unshed tears, and swallows his words instead.
“Never mind,” he says quietly, shaking his head. “Let me have a look.”
Steady hands help you into a sitting position, even though the pain bares its sharp teeth every time you shift. You cling to the Doctor, fabric bunched up in your hands. He has to gently pry your grip open so he can move, and crouches behind you.
Still lost in a haze of pain, you can only blink blearily into the distance. You barely feel the Doctor’s fingers slowly curling around the hem of your shirt, or the way hits your bare skin as he pulls it up slightly. But you do hear a sudden exhalation of breath, and the whir of the sonic as he passes it over your skin.
After that – silence. Uncharacteristic silence, a silence that’s almost deafening as the Doctor skims through the readings.
 “What is it?” you venture.
Another moment of silence. Then – “A puncture wound. So small you can barely see it.” The Doctor’s fingers brush over it, and you shudder. “It’s… an entryway. The source of the poison.”
The Doctor moves, and then he’s right by your side again, gently pushing you back onto the bed. He’s sad, you can tell that much, but his eyes have a familiar storm brewing behind them. Just lying in wait to rip and tear into everything in its path. The smile on his lips does nothing to hide that.
“Right. You –” He points at you, standing up – “should be getting some rest. I need to take care of things with the Lobarians – y’know, stuff. Diplomatic stuff. Important… stuff. I’ll be back.”
Something in you stirs – not anger, because he doesn’t need it right now, worry – and your hand shoots out, weak fingers wrapping around the Doctor’s wrist. “Let me come with you.”
“You’re supposed to be healing, not running off with me,” the Doctor says, his voice soft but admonishing, “It’ll be really boring, I promise -”
“Isn’t that how this whole thing started?” Your grip tightens around his wrist. “Me running off with you.”
The Doctor looks down. “I invited you.”
“And I said yes,” you whisper. You tug gently, and he sits onto the bed with a soft thump. You know this Doctor – and right now he’s volatile. Letting him leave would be like a match to gasoline. “Listen, I don’t want you to do anything stupid.”
Please stay goes unspoken. I care about you goes unspoken, and about a million other things too.
The Doctor sighs, but there isn’t any edge there. “I can never say no to you, can I?”
“Nope,” you say tiredly, popping the “p”. The Doctor laughs. Anything to make you stay.
The Doctor settles into the bed beside you, and as if on cue, the lights dim. The TARDIS’s humming grows even softer, fading until all you can hear is the sound of the Doctor breathing beside you.
“She’s being awfully nice,” the Doctor whispers beside you. “She’s spoiling you.”
“She likes me,” you reply. “Jealous?”
 “Only a little bit.”
You hum in response. The darkness is already lulling you back to sleep, but you shift and nuzzle into the Doctor’s side. You feel him go still against you, against the sudden affection, but you don’t let up – you cuddle closer to him, you ear close to his chest.
You should be embarrassed. You’re probably embarrassed. But the relief you feel at getting the Doctor to stay by your side is clouding your judgement, and then there’s also the whole getting-poisoned-thing. You can imagine the look on the Doctor’s face – eyes wide, cheeks red, mouth parted like he can’t think of anything to say.
But he loves surprising people. “A few days,” he says quietly.
“What?” you mumble into his chest.
“You were out for a few days.” The Doctor shifts, wraps an arm around you. “I’m answering your question.”
 “Oh.”
Snuggled into his chest, you can hear the sound of his heartbeats. Their rhythm pulls you closer to sleep, and your eyes slip shut.
Then you hear the Doctor sniff, feel his breathing hitch, and suddenly it’s your turn to go completely still against him.
“I didn’t want to scare you,” he continues, sounding so impossibly small. “You were in and out of consciousness while I worked on the antidote. You -” A ragged sigh, then a soft whisper of your name - “you nearly died.”
Fear grips your heart tightly, squeezing dangerously – partly because of the fear of dying without being aware of it at all, and mostly because of the fear that coats the Doctor’s every word. You would have left him all alone, and if the distant storm brewing in his eyes is any indication, he would have done something much worse than stupid.
“I’m sorry,” is all you can say.
“No, don’t be, don’t be,” the Doctor murmurs. His lips brush against the top your head, and he pulls you even closer to him. “Please don’t be sorry. You did nothing wrong. This is my fault.”
“It’s not…” you begin, but the Doctor shushes you, and runs his fingers through your hair. Every motion pulls you deeper into sleep, and although you have a thousand things you want to say, you’re fading.
The last thing you remember is a whispered apology.
It's cold when you wake up again. You shift in the bed, trying to snuggle against something that should be behind you, but there isn't anything there. You blink the sleep out of your eyes and sluggishly reach out, letting your arm flop against the empty sheets, searching for warmth.
Your eyes shoot open. Empty sheets.
You turn your head to the side to find the spot beside you empty, the sheets smoothed out like a certain Time Lord had never even been there. Even your blanket's smoothed out, pulled over your shoulders and up to your chin like a parent would do.
It shouldn't hurt, waking up alone. It always happened. The Doctor isn't yours - he's always moving, always running, and someone like that can't ever be tethered, especially not to you.
But it does, and you find tears pricking at your eyes at the thought. If he can't be yours, then you can't be his either, and that means -
 "No, you listen to me!"
You push yourself up. The pain in your back is still there, but it's a dull pain now, and certainly nothing compared to way your heart's started hammering in your chest.
That's the Doctor's voice in the distance, loud and ringing and angry.
You throw the blanket off your legs and climb off the bed. Your bare feet press against the cold wooden floor, and the chill sends another burst of clarity to your mind. He's out there, alone, and furious. Never a good combination for the Doctor, historically, you think, reaching up to rub your arms.
Your gaze falls onto a crumpled pile of tweed fabric slung over one of the chairs. Picking it up, you run your hands over the fabric. It feels sentimental, doing that, like interacting with a memory. The things this must have seen...
It's too big for you when you throw it over your shoulders, but it feels like him and smells like him, so it's enough. You wrap the Doctor's jacket tighter around yourself and stumble out of the room.
The sound of arguing drifts down the TARDIS hallways, and it's hard to make the Doctor's voice out from all the overlapping voices. The Doctor was right, though - the TARDIS is kinder today, and the hallways don't wind as much as the usually do. It's a straight shot to the console room. The voices get louder as you get closer to the door.
"Y'know, the funny thing about politicians is that they lie."
"Doctor -" That's Koramaz - "you have to believe me; I would never lie to you!"
"It's in your business to lie, part of the job description really. Why wasn't she in the medical bay? Why was the door to her room locked?" The Doctor's voice gets louder as he speaks. "If I didn't think so highly of you, I'd think you were trying to leave her for dead!"
There's a sigh, and Merban speaks - "Your opinion of us shouldn't have to change, Doctor. Let's keep this amicable."
"Amicable?" the Doctor asks, incredulous. "Ha! We'll see about amicable when I find out what you've really done - no one hurts the people I love and gets away with it!"
Fuck. You run up to the doors and try the doorknobs - they're locked. Fuck!
The Doctor's voice is dark, darker than you've ever heard it before, his words laced with an anger usually reserved for only the cruelest of beings. He knew he would leave, and he knew I'd follow him - the nerve of the man! Your sweaty hands slip against the metal doorknobs and you swear under your breath again. You press against the door, but it doesn't give.
"Please," you beg, looking up at the TARDIS's engine. It hums lowly. "I know you're listening. Please, old girl, before he does anything he's going to -"
The TARDIS doors swing open, a gust of wind pushes you out the doors and you stumble out of the ship and back into the P'kone Mountain Resort.
 "...regret."
A wave of silence crashes over the room. Everyone stands frozen in time, still dressed in all their finery - Koramaz and Orvin standing side-by-side, hands raised in the air; Merban with an arm outstretched, held up protectively over the other Protectionists; and the Doctor, because he is the Doctor, standing proud in the middle of the room. Jacketless.
The Doctor's head whips towards you and his gaze softens, his eyes raking over your form. "Are you okay? What are you doing up?"
"I'm fine," you say, waving away his fussing hands. "What are you doing?"
"I thought I told you to rest," he says. Something cold cuts through his voice, and you narrow your eyes at him.
"I thought I told you to stay," you shoot back. The Doctor closes his mouth. You peer into his eyes, finding the fire that's infamous for, and counter it with your own. He shrinks against your glare.
The room's still divided, glittering red against shining blue. The Lobarians whisper to one another, and while you can't catch what they're talking about, you can make a guess. Time to put on a show.
Orvin steps forward from the crowd, wringing his hands together. "Are you well, now? We were so worried about you."
The words drip out of his mouth, sickeningly sweet like honey. You remember the glint of his teeth when he smiled at you on the dancefloor, and the sharpness of his hand against your back. He was too close, much too close.
Two can play at that game. You bare your teeth in a smile.
"Thank you for your concern," you say sweetly, walking up to him. The Doctor reaches out, tries to stop you, but you shoot him another look. "Might I say, you're a wonderful dancer."
"Oh, well, thank you," Orvin mutters. He swallows and clasps his hands together tightly in front of him. "So were you."
"Yeah?" Your smile grows wider, and Orvin shudders. "You know, you're a great dancer, but a terrible fucking liar."
You grab Orvin's clasped hands and pull, prying his hands apart. Your fingers dig into his wrists, nails carving crescents into his skin, and he yelps.
"Didn't we get close, Orvin?" you ask, leaning closer to him. Orvin's breaths come in short puffs, and behind him Koramaz's eyes are wider than dinnerplates.
Glinting on Orvin's left hand is a ring, golden and intricately carved, a shiny red jewel set into the top. The Doctor comes close, leaning down to look at his hands.
"Ooh, nice ring," the Doctor says, peering at the ring, understanding dawning on his face. "College ring, class of 4320 at the University of Neloba - good school, I was a professor there for a cycle. But -"
The Doctor turns towards you, gives you a quick smile, then shoves his hand down the pocket of his jacket. He pulls out his sonic screwdriver, and with a flourish, points it at Orvin's ring. He holds it upright to read the results - and something dark crosses over his face.
"It's a match," he says quietly, "to the poison in your system - by the way, mind if I take a look?"
Orvin opens his mouth to protest, and you twist his wrists upward, his palms facing the ceiling. He makes another pained noise.
The Doctor pulls the ring off his finger and holds it up to the light. Gently, he presses against the red jewel - and on the bottom of the ring, a small needle pops out for just a second before it disappears again.
"Ah," the Doctor says simply, gesturing to Orvin with the ring still held between his fingers. "What do we have here?"
"Orvin, how could you!" Koramaz gasps, his voice shaking with every word. "My own assistant, doing something so dastardly -"
"Oh, THAT'S ENOUGH!" the Doctor roars, throwing the ring to the floor. You jolt, and the whole room seems to shake at the sound of his voice, loud as a crack of thunder. "Stop lying, stop acting - just stop! Why did you do this?"
Koramaz shakes slightly, exhales, then goes completely still. If the Doctor's fire, Koramaz is ice, reflected in the pristine blue of his clothing. The Expansionists, standing near him, look like an ocean ready to swallow the Doctor whole. Slowly, he smiles, and spreads his arms.
"You're a warrior, Doctor," he says, shaking his head. "You've destroyed. Razed down everything in your path. Sometimes..." He glances at Merban - "that can help people."
"Koramaz..." Merban's jaw is hanging open. He shakes his head slightly, his eyes wide and unbelieving. "I did not think you were capable of such things."
"You didn't think at all, Merban."
"Help you," the Doctor spits, glaring at Koramaz. His hands are balled into fists at his sides. "What, so you wanted to turn me against the Protectionists? Was that it?"
"Your anger is a weapon, and one I intended to use." Koramaz smiles again, but it's thin. "I had no choice. Like Merban said, I don't believe in compromise."
The Doctor stares, fire burning in his eyes. Shoulders tense, he starts walking slowly, stalking Koramaz until there's barely any space between them, until he's cornered, nose-to-nose with the Oncoming Storm. The Doctor almost dwarfs Koramaz, his glare boring holes into him.
"Funny, because I'm starting to think that too," the Doctor growls, his jaw set. He looks down at Koramaz like a predator to prey, and for the first time, you see genuine fear in Koramaz's eyes.
"Doctor," you call out. He doesn't seem to hear. He's the Oncoming Storm now, surrounded by a hurricane of his own making. "Doctor!"
"My anger? A weapon?" The Doctor's voice is cold and sharp, like knives trailing against skin. "Do you want to find out why, Koramaz?"
You know why - you know exactly why, from stories weaved across time and space - Koramaz trembles under the weight of all the Doctor's sins, and the Doctor doesn't need to add another name to his list.
You have to fight it. You have to fight against the blustering winds of his fury, but you push through - and your hand wraps around his. The Doctor faces you, his eyes shining with an anger that isn't entirely human, and you do the only thing you can really do -
Pull him from the edge. Smile, and squeeze his hand tight.
"Don't" you whisper, and although what you really want to say is still left unspoken, in that split second, there's no one else in the room. Just you and the Doctor.
 You're his anchor now.
"You had a choice," you tell Koramaz, still clutching the Doctor's hand. "You thought that if you hurt me, you could make the Doctor do something terrible. But he's better than that. He's a good man."
You look up at the Doctor. He's staring at you, gazing, a mixture of pride and sadness in his big green eyes. His lower lip trembles.
Deep breath. Only the truth, now. "I know him."
You can hear the faint murmuring of the Lobarians, and before your eyes the colors shift - the red mixes into the blue, Protectionists and Expansionists talking with one another, hands on shoulders, offering comfort.
"What do we do now?" one of them asks, their hands tightly gripping the front of their dress.
"You sit down," you say, and stand a little straighter. They're all looking at you now. "Reconvene. Actually discuss things instead of plotting and scheming behind each other's backs. Be better, for the future of your people. That's what this was all about, wasn't it?"
One Lobarian bows. Then another. Soon enough, all of the Lobarians in the room are bowing to you, a show of respect and reverence. Even Koramaz is bowing, his face cast to the floor.
You glance at the Doctor, smiling. I learned that from you.
He smiles back, gentle. I know.
Merban lifts his head, still poised despite his ruffled appearance. His eyes are damp, sorrow swimming in them. "Koramaz will be dealt with as best as we can. I am truly sorry for what we have done."
"Occupational hazard," you reply, bowing back to him. "Learn from this, won't you?"
"We will try." Merban nods slowly, and a tear slips from his eye. "I'm sure you understand now."
 "Understand what?"
"Why you are a part of the stories," Merban says, bowing once more. As you stare at the Lobarians, all bowing in a show of respect and reverence, you do now.
You turn away from everyone and tug at the Doctor's hand, as gently as you can. The storm in his eyes ebbs, leaving behind a slight drizzle. "Let's go home, yeah?"
"Home," the Doctor echoes. "Home sounds good."
 --
The Doctor doesn't say a word for the whole trip home.
He's quiet as he walks up to the console, pushing buttons and pressing levers without the manic energy that he usually has. It's disconcerting, but not surprising, and you settle for leaning against one of the railings as he works. The TARDIS stays kind, and takes off without even a shiver.
You keep your eyes on him as he pilots - watching him push in coordinates, swinging screens around - but the tension hasn't left his body. He's still wound up, ready to snap at a moment's notice, so you stay quiet. There's no sound but the hum of the TARDIS's engines.
Your mind drifts just as the TARDIS does, the room swaying slightly underneath your feet. This is what it's like, travelling with the Doctor in his magical blue box, and you know not every adventure ends well. Not every story has a happy ending.
What was another near-death experience? You practically lived off of them, thriving off of the rush that filled you when you escaped danger by just a hair. Running and laughing together. But this feels different, you think, still watching the Doctor walk slowly around the console, because something's changed.
 But what was it?
You pull the sleeves of the Doctor's jacket. He hasn't asked for it back yet, and a small part of you hopes that he never does. It's incredibly comfortable, and the only warm thing in the cold space between the two of you.
The Doctor's eyes are dark, and the dim TARDIS lights cast shadows over his youthful face. The ship's lights and sounds were a tell if you couldn't figure out how the Doctor was feeling, and now they were completely in sync, darkness against darkness.
He brushes past you and slumps into one of the chairs, crossing his legs. He shuts his eyes, presses a hand against his forehead, and heaves out a shaky sigh.
"Are you mad?" you ask, your voice just above a whisper. The Doctor snaps his head up to look at you and he looks so weary, so old and so tired.
"Mad? Of course I'm mad," he says, the edge in his voice still there, but fading away. "I'm cross. Extremely. That doesn't usually happen."
You swallow, still gazing at him. His stare is intense, and he hasn't really looked you in the eyes since you stepped back onto the TARDIS. "I mean, are you mad at me," you add softly.
The Doctor's eyes widen a fraction, and he sits straighter in the chair. "No," he says, "no, not at you. Never at you. Why would you think that?"
You're quiet. You're never this quiet. You shrug, and the Doctor's jacket nearly slips off your shoulders. You catch it before it can fall - you also catch the Doctor's eyes tracing your form, his gaze stuttering to a stop at the sight of you in his jacket.
You shift against the railing, pulling his jacker tighter around your body. "You okay?"
"'Course I am," the Doctor replies, obviously not. He looks deflated sitting in the chair, his form almost swallowed by the seat. "I'm the king of okay. I said I was never gonna use that title again. Ignore me."
You give him a small smile, and he lights up a little bit. "No, you're not."
The Doctor frowns at you. "I am."
"You always lie," you tell him, raising your eyebrows.
The Doctor sighs again, but it isn't exasperated or angry - just defeated. He stands up in one quick motion, his hair flopping with the movement, and moves to stand in front of you. He takes a deep breath, steadying himself, and gazes down at you.
"I'm sorry," he says slowly, and the words echo in the room. He's standing close enough for him to reach out, but he doesn't - instead, he keeps his distance, his arms hanging loosely by his sides. "It's my fault you got hurt."
"It isn't," you protest, but the Doctor shakes his head.
"It is," he insists, and something like desperation colors his words. "They hurt you because of me. They knew how much I cared and they weren't afraid to use that."
"It's not your fault." You reach out and take his hands, shaking your head. "Caring isn't a weakness, you know that better than anyone."
The Doctor stays silent for a moment. He's still staring, unnaturally still despite the tears that threaten to spill out of his eyes.
"I should take you home," he whispers hoarsely, trying to pull his hands away from yours.
"No!" you blurt, and the Doctor goes still again. "No," you say again, softer, and intertwine his fingers with yours.
"I can't promise to keep you safe," the Doctor mutters.
"You don't have to." One by one, you lace your fingers together. His hands are bigger than yours, and he practically covers your entire hands with his. He watches you do this, his lips slightly parted, eyes sparkling with what looks like… wonder? "I want to stay with you. I don't care how dangerous it is, or how many times I get hurt - it's worth it."
And you mean it, every word. Every bruise, every scar – just something that comes with the life that you’ve chosen with him.
You stand on your tiptoes - the Doctor laughs quietly and leans down his head. You press a kiss onto his forehead, pouring everything you want to say into it, and hope he understands.
The Doctor straightens, standing taller. You frown up at him and fall back onto your feet. "You're so tall."
"Regeneration's a lottery," he says, and a smile - a real one - spreads across his face, like a sunrise warming the cold evening air. And just like a sunrise, the TARDIS's lights grow brighter, her humming and trilling like a triumphant symphony. "You're wearing my jacket."
"I am," you say. You're still very comfy in it, and the Doctor notices, because his lips curve up in a fond smile. "Does a Time Lord giving someone their jacket mean anything?"
"Why do you ask?" the Doctor asks, pulling his hands away from yours to smooth down the front of the jacket.
"Well, Orvin's cloak meant something. Does this mean something too?"
The Doctor's face goes red, and you have to push down a childish giggle as he flounders.
"The Lobarian courting cloak means a lot of things," he says, waving his hands around, "It's a symbol for the heart, the soul, the being of a Lobarian. Giving all of you to another."
You raise an eyebrow at him. "But I took your jacket."
 The Doctor's eyes glitter. "...Well?"
Now it's your turn for your face to burn - you pull at the sleeves again, biting your lower lip. Your heart does flips in your chest, and you don't try to stop it from going haywire.
The Doctor, with another laugh, scoops you into his arms - he wraps his arms tightly around you, pressing his face into the crook of your shoulder, his whole body shuddering as he breathes a sigh of relief. You place your hands in his hair as he finally unwinds, relaxes, and lets go.
"Keep it for now," the Doctor murmurs against your ear, "I've got spares."
You stay there for a moment, just holding each other as the TARDIS sings around you.
"I’m not leaving you," you breathe out. "Package deal, remember?"
The Doctor doesn't say anything, just nuzzles closer, and it's enough of a reply for you.

Saved by the Devil (13/?) - Thomas Shelby
Summary: Its time for Epsom, what could go wrong? (Sorry about my summaries they are terrible)
Paring: Tommy Shelby x Fem!reader (romantic)
Warning: S*xual Assault  There is a  scene where the reader is put in uncomfortable position with the general. Reader takes the place of Lizzie in luring the General. And stuff does go down but i was not graphic in writing it cause i was a bit uncomfortable writing anything beyond what i did write and i didn't want to trigger anyone. When the scene does come up i will put a another warning to let you know.
A/N: Hello, this chapter was so so so fun to write. I am so excited for all of you to read and hopefully tell me what you think cause i think this just might be one of my favorite chapters so far... Have a lovely night and see you soon :)
It was time. And for the first moment in your life you were beyond scared. It didn’t show as you got into the back seat the Shelby boys, Arthur and John, in front. No sign of Thomas Shelby anywhere.
“Boys, its good to see you.” You say genuinely. You hadn’t seen them since the last little mission at the horse auction. This time though will be different, you had a lovely knife strapped to your thigh. All your injuries healed and you were beyond prepared for this. You liked the brothers, though you didn’t know them too well. They seemed to take kindly to you too as they nodded at your statement and asked how you were.
The ride felt short. Though it had to have been longer since you were far from London. You didn’t even know what you were thinking about the entire time. You knew that Thomas was waiting for the three of you and more. You weren’t sure if you were ready to face him. The other night when you guys had almost-
You shake your head of the memory. Remembering that you were just a second choice in all this. Grace had rejected him. Then he called you and like a dog you came running. You didn’t know what was wrong with you. But never again would that happen. He didn’t want you and neither did you. And after all this was done, you would never have to see each other again.
You already had word with Trinity, you were leaving tomorrow. Everything was planned and ready to go. Thomas never told you about a new passport or id, you had requested. But you couldn’t wait for him. The nightmares were getting worse and you swore that when you talked on the phone the past week, you could hear breathing on the other line. There was no time to waste, it was time to go.
The two brothers and you head up to the front of the Epsom gates, there you see Tommy Shelby and the rest of the gang. His aunt Polly in attendance eyeing you up and down but no saying a word. Her stare this time not making you nervous, instead you see it filled with curiosity.
“Alright everyone’s, here,” Thomas says not making eye contact with you as he claps his hands together, “here’s the agenda.”
And he takes everyone down to the plan, leaving out of course the part of the assassination of the general. All he says is that he will provide a distraction for everyone in order to take Sabini racetrack licenses. No one asks questions as he finishes the meeting. Everyone scatters to different parts as they enter the races.
“(Y/n)” you hear your name fall out of his mouth. You look at each other and theres a pause. There’s million things unsaid at this moment that you both want to say. But don’t.
“Keep an eye out.” He finally says moving past you, disappearing in the crowd.
And that’s what you do. You keep an eye out. You thought you might have more significance on this day but maybe not. Maybe this is all you get to do. You remember back then when you had worked for your father. The man had always let you in on the action, no matter how dangerous. You didn’t care either because that was life, it was normal for you. Your mother, rest her soul, was the only one who had ever fought for you to stay home, go to school, date and live normal. But she never got her way.
You watched some of the peaky blinder, the ones that you could pin point walk around the arena. They all were tailing some of Sabini’s men which you have seen maybe one or twice. You tried to keep an eye out for Sabini but couldn’t find the man anywhere. You did see an inspector Campbell, the man who had brutally beat you not too long ago. You stare hard at him remembering the moments as if it was yesterday.
“Got a vendetta against the man?”
You turn around and come face to face with Polly, she smokes a cigarette like a royalty into the air. Her eyes never leave the inspectors either. You can see the pain and rage in her eyes. You don’t pry.
You turn your gaze back on the filthy man who walks with his cane, laughing and smiling with the people in the crowd.
“Men like that shouldn’t be allowed to walk on this earth.” You say.
She nods and for a split second there seems to be a connection between the two of you with your shared pain and hatred for the man. You both don’t say anything else as the man leaves out of your views.
Polly leaves first, without saying any other words. You stay in you spot scanning the crowd. Probably taking your job a bit too serious.
You can hear the laughter and cheerful cries of everyone. The experiment in the arena could be felt by everyone. You spot military men in a group together laughing and talking. You know that the tallest one is the general from the photos Thomas had showed you.
You also see a blonde curls and pink hat looking lost among the sea of people. It was a face you had only recently come to known. Grace. You leave your spot feeling the embarrassment from the other night all over again. You wonder around the place feeling bored and just wanting to leave.
“(y/n)?” a tall man who looked to be a preacher came toward you. You had never met him before.
“yes?” you say cautiously, remembering your in a public space, no ones gonna do anything.
“Tommy’s looking for you.” He says.
“what does he want?” you ask. The man just shrugs. And you sigh and follow him through the crowd.
Thomas stands on top of the staircase, looking anxious and pale.
“Found her boss.” The man says leaving you with him.
“Alright, good. (Y/n) come on. And unbutton the first two buttons.” He demands flicking the end of his cigarette he had just finished.
“Excuse me?” you say crossing your arms and standing still.
Thomas stares at you and looks baffled at your disobedience as if this was his first time meeting you.
“Please, (Y/n). I’ll explain inside.” His tone quitter and pleading.
You follow him but don’t unbutton anything of yours. He leads you into a room that looks like only the rich and royalty would eat here. You felt out of place immediately. You both don’t talk as you sit across from one another. You watch him put another cigarette in his mouth. He doesn’t meet your eyes as he talks.
“Look, I didn’t want to ask you this…”
“Just tell me, no need to prolong it.”
“I need you to get him isolated.”  You hear his words and double meaning behind them. You can feel your stomach turning in disgust of what’s he asking you. Your face is kept neutral as you talk.
“What happened to following him till he was alone to piss?” You ask
 “Doesn’t matter.”
 “Look, I’m not-“
He grabs your hand across the table and holds it tightly. It burns but you don’t let go. You stare at your intertwined hands.
“I don’t want you to do this. I don’t want to think of you anywhere alone with him. But right now, I trust you and only you to do this. Please. Or else I’m fucked.”
You wanted to be snarky and petty. You wanted to say “Ask Grace”. You wanted to say screw you and leave. You wanted to slap him or kick him. But you saw the sincerity in his voice. You saw the fear in his eyes that he always seemed to hide.
“okay fine. Ill do it.” You say.
His grip doesn’t soften as he continues to hold you. “Thank you.” He says softly.
Thomas leaves you in the fancy room by yourself. He went over details of where to lure over the general. It was a place that would be very private, no witnesses. Thomas said that he would be there in 15 minutes, he promised that nothing would happen to you. You could tell he wanted to keep that promise but you weren’t sure if he could.
You saw the general at another table with other military men. He noticed you right away. His eye never leaves your figure as you sat by yourself.
‘too easy’ you thought to yourself as the general himself came over to you.
He introduced himself, kissed your hand like a gentleman might, and sat where Thomas was not minutes ago. It was light conversation before you decide to break it. There was no other way to lure him, other than sex. And that what you did. Pretending to be a prostitute wasn't hard. You had been around some your whole life. You knew the lingo and prices and tricks. But not everyone could do it. You knew that. As you took the mans wandering hand off your knee from under the table and guided him away from the fancy room. You took him down hallways and corridors, trying to properly remember the map Thomas had shown you.
                                           *********Warning*********
“Where are you taking me?” The general asks flirtatiously.
 “Somewhere private.” You answer.
Finally you found the spot of no witness and people. It was quite and literally no one around. You feel the Generals hot mouth on your neck, biting at you. You fake a giggle at the action but your stomach was turning in disgust. You took a quick glance at your watch. You got here too early. 5 more minutes until Thomas was here.
You can feel the generals fingers wander to the hem of your dress, rushing to pull it up. You push it down and step away from him, laughing a bit nervously at the contact.
“Don’t be a tease now, love.” He says
“I just us to take our time.” You lie and smile sweetly. You had never been in this position before and you were very nervous. You could feel your hands shaking as you tried to gain control hoping to stop  it.
“I don’t have time.” The general says grabbing you harshly and turning you around.
“Wait, wait.” You say feeling violated like never before.
You kick him hard in the stomach, causing him to step backward from you. You run to the other wall, wanting nothing but distance from the guy.
“You bitch.” He sneers coming toward you with an ugly smile.
You pull you knife out of your thigh holster and point it toward him. He stops upon seeing a weapon. And then he laughs.
 “How adorable.” He says
You glance at your watch again. Its past the time Thomas should have been here. You feel a bit of dread poor over you. You don’t know how you were gonna fight off some military man. Your skills weren’t up to par on his, you knew that. Maybe enough to cause damage and run. Maybe.
He stalks toward you with all the confidence in the world. His face gives it off like this a game for him, he likes that you’re not giving in, that you’re fighting against him. It’s an inconvenience but he likes a challenge.
You step forward, slashing him across the cheek. He doesn’t react to it as he grabs your wrist. His giant hand pushing it back at an odd angle. You try to use your other hand to hit him but it does nothing. You’re forced to drop the knife. He pushes you against the wall. His eyes animalistic and you cry in pain as your head makes contact, hard with the wood.
You see black spots around your vision as you hear the man say something to you, you don’t know what. His hands roam around your body but you focus on anything but. You hear the zipping of pants and your hearts begins to race at the thought of whats to come next.  Tears slip down your eyes as you think of no one coming to save you.
“Russell!” You hear a familiar voice yell.
The general leans off your body, you slide down on the wall looking up to see Thomas with his pistol pointed at the general. The gun clicks.
 Nothing happens.
“Fuck!” Thomas yells as the General rushes over to Thomas, the pair beginning to fight each other.
You scramble to your feet, feeling awfully dizzy. You see Thomas gun on the floor. The men continue fighting each other. The general trying to reach his gun on his hip.
You take Thomas’s gun aiming it, but nothing was coming out. It was jammed.
You see the general push his finger into Thomas eye, you can see the gun finally in his hand. Thomas knows it too as he grabs at that arm hoping to take it from him. You think fast kicking the general’s legs, making him fall.  The gun that was in his hand now on the floor. Which Thomas quickly grabs aiming it right under the generals chin and shooting without hesitation.
The two of you pant heavily as it finally is over. Thomas looks over at you and his shoulder slump.
 “Are you okay?” he asks.
“I’m fine,” you say, forgetting how badly you must look with your tear stained face, “Where were you?”
He shakes his head, “I’m sorry,” He reaches a hand toward you wiping away the tears that were still falling, “You’re crying.”
You didn’t know what to say as he strokes your cheek, catching runaway tears that you had no control over. You try to steady your breathing, staring into his steel blue eyes.
“I will never ask you to do anything like that again.” He says.
You nod at his words, touching the hand that’s on your face and gently pulling it away.
“We need to go separate ways. Or else we’re suspects.” You say.
“Meet me by the where- where they take the bets ay?”
He stares at you like he wants to say more but again, he doesn’t. You both walk separate directions. You pick up your knife on the way out, leaving the rest of the crime scene alone.
You walk down the way to the betting place. You can see all the police and military men rushing to where you had just come from. You know the peaky blinders, now, were threatening Sabinis men, burning the licenses at this moment.
You stand by yourself, waiting until you see a familiar face once again. This time she notices you too. The beautiful blonde walks toward you.
 “Hello.” She says.
“Hi,” You say, “is youre looking for-“
“I’m not. I’m just here to place my own bet.” She says holding a ticket up.
You both stand in uncomfortable silence.
“I did see him earlier,” She says eyeing you from the side. You look forward as she speaks, “I professed my love, told him I would leave my husband for him and everything.”
You swallow a huge lump in your throat that you didn’t even realize was there. She continues speaking.
“He told me no,” You turn to her baffled as you always assumed, he was head over heels in love with the beautiful Grace, “I mean I known for awhile what his answer would be but I had to give it one last try. Oh don’t look surprised.”
 “I- “
“You should count yourself lucky. He doesn’t love too often but when he does,” She takes a pause and her eyes though are focused on you don’t seem to be looking at you. Almost as it she’s lost in a memory. She sighs, “He just really does.”
Before you can say anything else to the woman, she leaves with a smile. A headache begins to form on the back of your head where you had hit your head earlier. You leave the crowded betting room, the noise and smoky air becoming too much for you.
You’ll find Mr. Shelby later. With all that has happened today, it was becoming a lot and you needed a moment to just process it all. As you walk alone you spot two men holding a man by his two arms. He had a cap on like the other peaky blinders. You follow them Noticing another man leading them. You finally see his face.
Your mouth talks before your you can think.
 “Thomas!” You cry out.
His head jolts up looking for the source of your voice. The men bring his neck down, keeping his face looking at the ground. All of the worst things begin to swirl around your mind. The plan didn’t work, they caught him, the inspector double crossed him, Sabini had men ready to take him out. As well as moments, the two of you had shared that now were going to be just past memories of what ifs and unsaid words that should have been spoken.
You follow them as best as you can, watch them as they put him in the back of some car, a gun pointed towards him as they close the doors. You couldn’t help him. You watched the car drive away feeling useless and guilty. Wishing to have done more. You see his cap on the ground and pick it up. You look around for someone who could save the day but everyone was in their own happy world. And you were holding on to a hat feeling a loss like never before.

shipwide crises are a lot more enjoyable when you have someone to make fun of. unless you’re the person being made fun of.
Everything Is Fine by UncreativeIndividual
After several months serving together, Tendi begins to realize that she feels for Mariner as more than just a friend. This is not ideal for her.
The Mariner Protocol by bauchle
AKA: Beckett Mariner's Guide to Scoring With Hot Space Babes
When she learns that Rutherford is crushing hard on Tendi, Mariner selflessly takes it upon herself to coach him in the fine arts of court ship. She even drafts Boimler to help her out, though for some reason he's less than enthusiastic about the whole project.
Cue movie nights, flirting "workshops", and 400-year-old mixtapes - not to mention melees, arguments, and maybe a minor shipwide crisis. This is definitely going to end well.
im standing guard (im falling apart) by @lastoneout
“Dude Barb is way out of anyone’s league, trust me. She’s so perfect it’s freaky.” Beckett continues, “I don’t know if you noticed but it did nearly drive me insane.”
Brad falls silent for a moment, giving her a weird look that she wilts under.
“Is that why you haven’t been sleeping?”
It's Going Great, Why Do You Ask? by UncreativeIndividual
The sequel to Everything Is Fine.
Mariner and Tendi have been dating in secret for a few months. It's going well, though the former does wish to keep the relationship a secret despite the latter's wishes.
Then, Mariner's mom, Carol Freeman, starts to suspect something is up with her daughter. T'Ana gets stuck in the middle as the only one aware of the relationship, and Boimler & Rutherford are just confused as to what's happening. You can probably s ee where this is going.
are you lonely looking for yourself out there? by @lastoneout
He knew listening to her message would only make him feel worse, but he reached over and pushed the play button, waiting for Mariner’s angry voice to fill the room, reminding him of what a jerk he was.
“Boimler?” Instead of angry, her voice was quiet and groggy, like she’d just woken up, and Brad froze, quickly realizing two things. He must have hit the call button on accident, and he was totally, completely fucked.
- or -
After having a shitty day on the hell ship that is the Titan, Boimler gets drunk and accidentally calls Mariner.

Enjoy, Endure, Survive (a surprise) by @punk-rock-yuppie
Five times Boimler surprises Mariner with something, and one time she beats him to the punch.
Letting the Days Go By by @punk-rock-yuppie
It’s been three years since Bradward Boimler left his three closest friends on the Cerritos to take an ill-fated stint on the Titan.
It’s been two years since he came back from the Titan with his head hung and his metaphorical tail between his legs.
It’s been a year and a half since Mariner cornered him and told him, drunk and hushed, that she missed him so much it felt like a missing limb.
No Time Like The Present by @lastoneout
If there’s one thing Beckett has learned about Brad Boimler in all the years they’ve been friends, it’s that he has an intense—and frankly worrying—flair for the dramatic. So she isn’t exactly shocked when he decides to confess that he loves her in the middle of a fucking red alert, but that doesn’t mean she’s happy about it.
Love Your Fate (which is in fact your life) by @punk-rock-yuppie
Five out-of-this-world shenanigans that try to get Beckett and Mariner to confront their feelings for each other, and one time these two idiots finally do something about it.
a collapsing star with tunnel vision (but only for you) by @punk-rock-yuppie
The night before Brad transfers to the Titan, he and Beckett have a one night stand.
Of course, everything gets a lot more complicated after that.
